July? That's getting a bit close to peak times for my liking!

I know but i want to see fireworks and Kyra wants to Fantillusion.

Don't worry 2011 will hopefully be full of non peak trips :lmao:

I was planning not to go at all next year but its cheaper for me to do go DLP then Spain or Greece for a week, its like over £1100 for me and Kyra where July in DLP seems to be coming up at £650 with a night free.

Fingers crossed they have that offer next year.

When do they go back to school? Late August?

That's a good point, maybe right at the end of the season.

I'll have to wait for fireworks until Kacee is at school. By that time they'll be ok with queueing which is the only thing putting me off of going at a peak time again. Kacee is ok if he can't see the ride ala POTC, PM, Buzz etc but sucks if he can such as Cars, Flying Carpets, Dumbo etc

Haha no!! There would be a big announcement - we have a wedding day though - the 8th December 2010 how organised is that ?!!!

My future sister in law is being redundant though (unless she gets another job on Wednesday as she has an interview), so were going to keep our plans to ourselves for a bit, as its not really the right timing to say - coem to Orlando with us for a week next year when they have two big mortgages to pay :sad1:

I know, she works for ASDA headoffice, this sounds awful but I think they want rid of her rather than they are making lots of people redundant, as she has made mistakes in her job, plus I had a meeting with the property guys from Asda regarding building new supermarkets - and lets say they are very keen to get thing built ASAP so things cant be that bad!:)

It works better the further your travel - and as Orlando isnt too far away (in long haul flight sense you dont save too much money and there are flight restrictions).

I have found no good deals - I have toyed with getting an annual pass and one of those dining cards, so we could use the annual pass to get discounts off our wedding hotels but I'm not convinced you can book as far in advance as I would like.

Hope the school run goes ok Emma. How long does it take for you to walk to school?

I'm off for a swim after this (trying to get fit & healthy - although I'm sure it'll take me forever to get fit). Meant to start last week but couldn't be bothered. So it HAS TO be done today, otherwise, I'll never start. As it's quite mild today, I even walked to drop Adam at nursery this morning (30 mins walk, there and back). Well, I was going to drive but I asked Louise whether she wanted to walk or drive and she said walk. She's good that way, my daughter lol.

Have a nice day everyone.

Haha, my mum was told that was why sh wasn't losing wieght, but it turns out it doesn't actually affect weight loss or ability to lose weight at all.

Nor does metabolism.

Sadly my only excuse (like most of the nation) is that I eat too much and excercise too little. :(

I don;t know why I jstu can;t get motivated this year, alst year I was losing like half a stone each month, and loved exercising and eating healthily....it;s jsut too hard at the moment. :(

yeah it is hard to get motivated. i have had this since i was pg with ash only just got medication i have to take for life. it makes you really tired and i have to agree with the weight thing as before ash i was really skinny and didnt gain much weight till this problem cropped up. i actually weigh more than i did when i first had ash :rotfl2: my dr thought that was funny till she figured out what was wrong. i dont eat a lot and i walk everywhere so i couldnt figure out what was wrong :rotfl:

Also found out Kyra joins the main school next Sept and her school dont allow any days off term time.

It'll get easier. Then it gets heart breaking when they ask to go on a day where they don't! Kacee often cries on a Sunday as he wants to go to Nursery :confused3

I think im going to go offseason next year and leave peak season untill i really have to now.

The trips i book now untill she starts are ok as techincally she doesnt even have to be at pre-school.

Yeah she was ok goin in, it was when i was going to leave she started getting a bit needy lol. I'm now enjoying the peace and quiet.

I must admit though im not religious the prayer spot looked really comfy lol. Lets hope Kyra spends some time in the thinking chair :lmao:

Good morning everyone, I am new to the forum, so look forward to meeting and chatting with you all, I am over knackered this morning, I work evenings for TNT Express and last night we had a power cut for over an hour, which resulted in our servers crashing and no computers working, we were shuttled off to another depot 50 miles away, driven by our looney operations manager who thought it was hilarious to drive at 100mph in the rain on the M25, I have never been so scared in my life!!!!!!

Anyway I am really trying to get back dieting again, lost 6 stones the year before last but ended up gaining 4 stones of it again last year!!!! :confused3 :confused3 We have started a weightloss competition at work, tomorrow night we all get weighed (21 of us) and put in a £1 in a pot, the person who loses the most each week will win the £21 - good way of earning my spending money for disney lol. Then our ops manager said in 6 months time, the person who has lost the highest percentage of weight will get £100 in vouchers!.

Oh whilst I remember, Boots start their 75% off sale tomorrow - just read it online :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Been quoted £197 for 5 days/4 nights inthe Cheyenne including park tickets and breakfast, we've got enough clubcard points to pay for eurostar tickets (would have to pay for either tickets to terminal or car parking or bribe my dad to drop us off lol!) so we'd need to have money for food, am considering getting half board vouchers again and then a little spending money!

My son can't get past the first level of Indiana Jones (where they are in the cave and have to jump across but there are 3 sections of sharp spikes?). He's 6 and this is the first kind of game he's played so he (or indeed his parents!) doesn't know the usual things which happen or the things to look out for. My son is coming up to 7 and his class seem to be mad for Nintendo DSs this Christmas. He asked for a soft toy! It was actually me who wanted a Wii, for Wii Fit really, and we got it as a family present. DS does love it and I'm going to need to restrict it a bit I think.

Cool.. can I ask you something then? I've just started playing Indiana Jones as well (thought I'd try it and see what the fuss is all about;) ) and I can't seem to get past the bit (this is quite near the beginning) where they have to jump on the green & red boxes and the spikes are shooting out from the wall on the side. I think the wii is such a great way of getting the kids fitter, they are exercising and not even realising it, my girls are 12 and 16 and love the dance mat, my 4 year old loves to do the football one on the wii fit where you have to header the ball.

I got my wii free when signing up for a mobile phone with dial a phone.

The guitar hero my sis brought was the world tour one with the drums and mic, think she paid £145 for it but it was a family xmas present.

well im trying to think back now, there are quite a few jumpy bits but i didn't think there were any in the first level.
the levels are normally called something. If you can find out what the title of the level is i'll be able to help you at lot easier. or take a photo of the screen so i can recognise it

but generally you either need to find a lever to pull to help you, use your whip to swing over, or only jump on certain colour blocks and when they are all pushed down the spikes dissapear.

if these spikes are just popping out the ground you can use your whip to destroy them sometimes.

sorry i can't be more specific but i need more detail otherwise, sorry

What do I have to do/how do I get across?! (Is this the same as where Cathy's son is stuck at?!:confused3 ). Ohh - mine's on the DS though. Would it be the same as on the Wii?

this could be the same place Cathy's son is stuck on and maybe i didn't understand it properly and is most likely because there are different versions of this game for the different formats. I did do a similar thing though when once you have run over all the green / red boxes ( whatever there are least of) then the spikes stopped firing enabling you to get across

well im trying to think back now, there are quite a few jumpy bits but i didn't think there were any in the first level.
the levels are normally called something.

They've just dealt with the spider things outside, and they pull on some ropes and can get into a cave. There are 3 jutting out bits of rock, with an overhanging bit. Indy can jump onto the overhanging bit and step on something and the spikes below go down so the 2nd player can jump over, but when Indy moves to get the spikes on the next bit down the first spikes go up again quicker than the 2nd player can jump off.
I'm not sure that's very clear! I will have a look again next time he plays it.

I've had my wii for a couple of years now (since they came out) and I still love it. I like my wii fit, wii music and wii family trainer. I've ordered the wii personal trainer too on pre order which comes out later this month. The American reviews are really good about this one.

right i know exactly where this is :)

what you need to do is pick up something nearby ( i can't remember what it is ) and get indy to place this on the 2nd button to hold the second lot of spikes down. indy can then step on the first button causing the first spikes to go down. the 2nd player then runs over the first spikes and runs to the second lot of spikes. indy can then move to the third button and stand on that so the 2nd player can move off

There is something that indy can pick up in the room that he can use to hold the button down, sorry but i can't remember what.

hope that helps you and your son out

Its a mat that you plug into the wii. There are individual things to do on it or things you do in pairs. It's a cross between a fitness thing and a fun family thing. You do things like ride a mine cart along the track, when you need to turn you and your partner have to stand on the leg in the direction you want to turn, then there are breaks in the track so you have to jump over them, you have to wave the remote around to pick up speed and zap things out of the way. You do things sitting down on it too like a sledging type thing. I like the foot stomp whack a mole game as well.

My Dad has offered me £1,000 towards the cost of a new car, wonder if he will lend me the other £2,995 as well.

Just seems too good to miss, an 05 plate with 17,000 miles on the clock, it's almost brand new!!

I'll have to wait for him to come back from holiday next Tuesday and ask him then, don't think it's right to text him while he is on holiday!!

Need to start some housework really to burn extra cals off before my work weigh in tonight.

My kids have always been the type to walk into preschool/school without looking back, theres me with tears in my eyes and they just wave and turn away from me, I remember when the girls started school, I would go and stand at lunch time and watch to make sure they had people playing with them and wasnt on their own :lmao:

I'm surprised the school allow that, my niece's school you have to wait until they let you into there little playground. I bet if the child was to wander off the mother would blame the school.

In my niece's school you have to write on a board if someone different is going to pick the child up. My sister planned a surprise in where I picked my niece up, as she didn't know I was going to be there. It is a long time and far longer than I'd expect of a company such as Disneyland Paris.

Maybe a complaint regarding the complaint is now in order :lmao:

Afternoon All!

I've been a busy bunny, took Lottie to nursery, did a bit of work in the uni library and then the shopping bug called and I popped into Boots for some bargains and our ELC is closing down  but everything had 30% off, so bought some bits ready for next Xmas!

Neils work have said yes to the time off, am waiting to hear back from mine and just finalising the logistics of it all and then hopefully booking later! Think we're going to go with the eurostar rather than flying!

Thanks, there shouldn't be and if all else fails, I'll blag my way through it! Think that we will go from Milton Keynes to Euston and then either tube or taxi to St Pancras, only because they are quicker and run earlier/later than the trains from Bicester and we can leave our car at my parents and get them to drop us off/pick us up lol!

It's quite a hassle, we live in Bicester, between MK and Oxford, so would have to drive to either and leave the car there which I'm not too impressed about. Think that we're just going to have to pay the £100 and eat dust for the rest of the month,

It's a hassle but it would probably only take you a couple of hours to get to Ashford (depending on the time you're on the M25) and then you'd just have to pay parking?

Yeah it's about 2 1/2 from Gillingham to Milton Keynes (I use the Snowdome occasionally) so probably about 3-3 1/2 hours to Ashford.

I promised you all a little report from our trip to Edinburgh! So, here we go!

My Mum paid for Robert and myself to have a night in the luxury Edinburgh hotel ‘The Witchery’, staying in the Old Rectory suite. She also arranged (and paid- God bless her!) for us to have a meal in their Secret Garden dining room- Which has won several awards in the past. Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities, but I hadn’t been in years, so this was a lovely treat! Robert had never been to Scotland before, so it was a big adventure for him….

So, on Monday January the 12th, we got a taxi to the train station and boarded our train to Edinburgh. We arrived a little early, and headed off to explore the shops on Princes Street. We decided it would be plain rude to not inspect the Disney Store, so we duly went and had a good look round. From here we headed to several more shops, until we decided it was time for lunch. Having a luxurious meal booked for later on, we decided to just go for something simple for lunch- So we went for a Pizza Hut…. The waiter in the Pizza Hut was simply marvellous and friendly, so we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. After this, we felt quite full, so we decided to cross the road, and head to the National Gallery of Scotland for a slow wander round:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0027.jpg

No pictures were allowed inside the gallery, but I can assure you all that it is well worth a visit! Lots of fantastic paintings and sculptures… Entry is free, but we paid a small donation.

We then decided to begin to walk up the steep hill towards the Castle, the Royal Mile, and the Witchery:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0031.jpg

It was too early to check in yet, so we had a wander down the Royal Mile and looked in a few of the shops:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0033.jpg

Several people were walking around in costumes, advertising the Edinburgh ghost tours- We were laughing at one of them who said to us: “I can tell you two are in love! But it won’t work, because she is going to cheat on you…” (to Robert) “….With me!”… We laughed and took his leaflet for the ghost tour, which did look interesting, but we didn’t have the time to fit it in this trip.

By now I was incredibly excited about checking in, so we went along to the Witchery and checked in- The staff were very lovely and friendly, and a lovely girl came to help us with our bags (I felt sorry for her as mine weighed a tonne!). She informed us that we were staying her favourite room, so this made us even more excited! We were led to large wooden door, which led to a steep spiral staircase. After climbing many of these steps, we reached our suite. Wow! It was the most beautiful place I have ever seen! The whole room was covered in velvets and sumptuous fabrics, and decorated in a fabulously gothic, romantic style. Old Scottish military uniforms were placed in various corners of the room, along with antique books and other old relics (We weren’t too keen on the Ram’s head on one of the shelving units, so we erred away from that corner a bit!). We had a glorious daybed covered in pillows, and our actual bed was simply jaw dropping. Classical music was playing, and there was Champagne (which I took home for my Mum seeing as how we don’t drink) and Mineral water chilling in a large ice bucket on the beautifully laid out table. There were also cookies, chocolate, and ‘Witchery’ slippers for us too. We were given a brief tour of the room, shown how to order breakfast, and then left to enjoy our time there in peace:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0077.jpg

I instantly went to run a bath in the ‘tub for two’… I adored the bathroom- My favourite feature of our suite. Simply stunning. The smellies provided by the Witchery were wonderful and made the whole room smell gorgeous…. We then changed into our complimentary dressing gowns, and enjoyed some of the still mineral water and cookies, whilst listening to some jazz music on the CD player. After this, we got changed back into our normal clothes so we could open the velvet curtains and see the view down into the city. We couldn’t resist trying on some of the old Military gear, so we played soldiers for a bit!

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0129.jpg

After this, we simply relaxed and enjoyed being in such a fantastic suite. Before long though, we had to tear ourselves away as we had our dinner reservation at seven thirty. We got changed, and wandered down to the Secret Garden. We were shown down a stone staircase lit with candles to simply the prettiest restaurant I have ever seen. Completely candlelit and simply the most romantic setting for dinner with the one you love:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0160.jpg

Menus were brought over promptly, and we ordered a large bottle of Speyside Mineral Water (My new favourite thanks to this trip!). After placing our order with our very obliging and lovely waitress, we chatted, and enjoyed seeing various other dishes coming out of the kitchen (The seafood platter for two looked absolutely amazing!). The food we had, well, words cannot describe how lovely it was. The best dining experience of my life, made all the more lovely by the fact we were enjoying fantastic Scottish produce. To start, Robert had Sliced breast and potted leg of borders Partridge with a beetroot salad and Cumberland sauce:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0165.jpg

I had the Scallops with ginger and lemongrass, and they were spectacular. Huge, fresh, juicy scallops served in the shell. Absolutely divine.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0166.jpg

For mains, Robert ordered a medium rare Aberdeen Angus Ribeye. He was slightly sceptical at first as ribeye is far from being his favourite cut of steak, but this was something special. There was very little fat on the steak, and the meat was of such good quality. I don’t eat red meat, but I tasted this and asked for more. It was stunning!

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0168.jpg

I ordered the Barbary Duck (which was a replacement for the Mallard on the menu) and it was the best duck dish I have ever eaten. The meat was slightly pink, so perfectly cooked. The truffle cream that came with dish was out of this world.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0169.jpg

I also ordered a side of buttered sugar snaps and they were fantastic. Perfectly cooked and utterly scrummy! Puddings were next, and these were my highlights of the meal. Robert ordered the Chocolate Torte with Milk Chocolate Sorbet, which he really enjoyed.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0173.jpg

I was seriously indulgent and ordered the Pudding Selection. This has got to be the most wonderful dessert I have ever eaten in my life.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0174.jpg

On my plate, I had a small amount of every dessert, which was: Pannatone bread and butter pudding, Rhubarb Trifle, Pistachio Biscotti, Chocolate Torte, Milk Chocolate Sorbet, Iced Pistachio Parfait, and Vanilla Ice Cream in a Brandy Snap Basket.... Bizzarely, my favourites were the two I didn’t expect to enjoy- I don’t like trifle, but the Rhubarb trifle was delicious. And I’ve never eaten any form of bread and butter pudding before (My Mother has a thing against bread in desserts) but the Pannatone bread and butter pudding was to die for. Simply incredible. Overall, a wonderful experience that I shall remember forever.

After dinner, we retired back to the Old Rectory, changed into our robes, and collapsed to watch TV on our daybed. We then retired to bed, and I had the most wonderful nights sleep- The bed was so amazingly comfortable! I want it back!

We woke up the next day and listened to some music together, before there was a knock at the door. Breakfast time! A lovely smiling lady came in with our hamper of goodies, which we requested to unpack ourselves.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0184.jpg

My word! What a breakfast (I shall add pics to the Food Pics thread later)! We had Croissants, Pain au chocolat, cold cut meats and cheese, a fruit plate, ruby grapefruit, cereal, a pot of coffee, orange juice and milk. We hadn’t ordered everything available either! We enjoyed our lovely breakfast together, and then had another bath before getting ready to check out. We didn’t want to leave at all! The Witchery is an amazing place and I hope we can return someday.

After checking out, we headed to the Castle. The Witchery is literally moments away from the Castle, so we didn’t have far to walk:

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0214.jpg

We had an absolutely fantastic day exploring the Castle. The weather was perfect (Not hot, not cold, not windy, not rainy. Just perfect!) and we had a great explore.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0774.jpg

We saw everything there was to be seen, and also dined in the Queen Anne Café, which was absolutely wonderful (Again, pics shall be added to the UK Community Board’s Food Pics thread.). The restaurant was a courtyard with a glass roof, simply beautiful and a great place to eat!

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0288.jpg

Robert had a Scotch Beef Burger and Chocolate and Pistachio Brownie, while I had Seabass and Dark Chocolate Cake. After the Castle, we looked in some of the shops along the Royal Mile, where I bought a cuddley Aberdeen Angus (I love Aberdeen Angus’!). We then headed down to Princes Street again, stopping to photograph a Police Box to tell my younger brother we’d seen a Tardis!

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0782.jpg

On Princes Street, we purchased an ‘Edinburgh’ Mickey Mouse magnet from the Disney Store, and Robert bought some books from Waterstones. We then headed to Waverely Train Station to get our train home.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n243/Bolan_Babe/2009_0113Edinburgh0787.jpg

All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful time in Edinburgh, and we can’t wait to plan a return visit! I have lots more pics from the trip on facebook, so if you’d like to see them but don’t have a profile, feel free to PM me for the links!
