could not add dp at check in

when tried to add dp at POR resort
i was told no because they said that dp cut off is 3 days before check in. i made adr's on having plan. anyone else have same problem:

It's standard procedure at WDW that you may not add the dining plan to your reservation at check-in. DDP must be added to a package reservation at least 3 days before checkin in most cases. It must be added to a DVC reservation at least 2 days before checkin.

I'm going to guess that the check-in computers are not set up to add DP to the KTTW cards unless it's been paid for in advance.

I could be wrong, but can't you not purchase a vacation package while standing at the resort check-in counter checking in? And isn't purchasing a Magic Your Way Package the prerequisite for purchasing the/any Dining Plan at a 'regular' Disney resort?

DVC doesnt need to pay in advance, but we do have to add a few days before we arrive, so I dont think that's the reason

So I am going along with kaytieeldr ... Because Disney says so
