We haven't quite figured it out for hubby either. You know how it is for teachers without tenure.. no job is guarenteed for next year.
His district does a bidding system, if someone else with more seniority wants to teach MS science (and is qualified) they can bid for the position and hubby would be out of that job. And need to compete with other low ranking teachers for another position in the district... or drop out and just sub. It stinks! There is talk of doing away with tenure-- at this point I would say YES .. but 5 years from now... I might not like that idea. What can ya do? :confused3
Yeah.. its tricky stuff. I know the only way dh is getting laid off is if his shop gets shut down. I dont know how likely THAT is to happen. Im hoping it doesnt, its not like there is a whole lot of need for aerospace machinists right now.

I'm just a bill.
Yes, I'm only a bill.
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey
To the capital city.
It's a long, long wait
While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill.
I love Schoolhouse Rock! :rockband:

A quick lesson in how to "read between the lines".:rotfl2:
Im hoping it wont even be an issue(cuz I'm kicking his butt out the door if he loses his job), but in case it is, I want to know where we are going to stand financially (we're only partially screwed). Thankfully we dont have many bills(I didn't get the new Bentley this year)... and by cutting some things out (like any hanky panky for the entire time he's unemployed, as an incentive for him to find a new job), we wont be homeless(run girls! she's got our address and will have 4, count em, 4 kids!. And we wont starve(cuz she's seen photos of our pantry's). Which is about all I can ask for:rotfl2: .
Peter Pan's Posse? Try saying that 10 times fast! :woohoo: ;)
I did, but had to quit before the kids heard me!

Speaking of alternative energy...I seen something really cool from the airplane last week. I saw a GIGANTIC windmill farm. Not really sure where it was, but somewhere between Orlando and Seattle (obviously), not to far before the Rocky Mountains. We were travelling at 36,000 feet and you could see the blades turning. Just made me wonder if it's going to start changing the landscape of the US from planes. There were hundreds of them.
They are shipping tons of them (windmills) in from other countries. Right now they are bringing many of them into the Port of Longview, since the timber companies have plenty of room for storage. The pieces of absolutely HUGE, one partial piece of fan blade is on a giant oversized truck. I see them every morning as they are being trucked down I-5 to all over the US.

Well now, that would be interesting.:lmao:
Mr. Mom by Lonestar.
Lost my job, came home mad
Got a hug and kiss and that's too bad
She said I can go to work until you find another job
I thought I like the sound of that
Watch TV and take long naps
Go from a hard working dad to being Mr. Mom
Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the fifteenth time
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr. Mom
Football, soccer and ballet
Squeeze in Scouts and PTA
And there's that shopping list she left
That's seven pages long
How much smoke can one stove make
The kids won't eat my charcoal cake
It's more than any maid can take
Being Mr. Mom
Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the sixteenth time
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr.Mom
Before I fall in bed tonight
If the dog didn't eat the classifieds
I'm gonna look just one more time
'Cause
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the eighteenth time
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long
Oh been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr.Mom
Balancin' checkbooks, juggling bills
Thought there was nothing to it
Baby, now I know how you feel
What I don't know is how you do it

Unemployed get 50% off tuition. .. or they do here anyway, I think it's a federal program??
I tend not to worry about the what ifs...
Not like I can control whatever happens, just deal with what you get.. one baby step at a time. We've been at the bottom, we can do it again -- wouod rather NOT but really it's not the end of the world to be poor. It sucks big time, thankfully we live in a country that won't let kids starve and try hard to keep people in a home. Plus rely on family to push on thru if necessary. We've always wanted a big place to share hosuing with E's family. We offer it as an option, so far his mom has wanted to try it on her own. But she is willing if it doesn't work out there for her.

We drove by a few windmill farms on our way back to MN (Iowa?). Strangely soothing to watch them in synchronized movement.
They have a bunch in Plam Springs, some people hate them because yes it does change the landscape.
They are an engineering marvel.

Are those people crazy?? $249 for a stroller?? Seriously, it's to lug around a tiny person that pukes and poops all day long. Of course I bought a nice stroller for our first baby...then I got smart and spent $9 on a folding umbrella stroller for the next one. The $9 stroller worked way better than the $100 stroller ever did.:lmao: Our expensive (at the time) stroller had every feature that you could imagine...except it was the hardest steering thing you had ever seen.:lmao: Oh well, live and learn!

WA state has a lot of retraining programs for unemployed. DH didn't have to pay anything for his schooling. They paid tuition, books and any fees. Even paid for him to get new boots and work clothes and his fees for testing and getting his commercial driver's license.

OK, here's my super-secret diaper-changing trick (don't tell anyone!):
1. Get everything ready; open up your new diaper, pull a wipe or two free, open up the cap to the butt-cream, etc. :teacher:
2. Pull the end tapes off the used diaper and lift up the top so a whiff of cold air hits the li'l wizard. :cold:
3. Slap that wet diaper back down on top of the wizard and let the little runt pee in it... again.
4. THEN lift the baby's feet, pulling his behind up. Slip the wet diaper out and slide the fresh diaper in. Wipe everything down fast! Tape the diaper up nice and snug, making sure the li'l wizard is pointed DOWN. (I cannot stress how important this last part is!) :lmao:

Well ladies, I've had fun tonight. So glad that a few of us showed up to chat. We should do this more often, oh say, like every night.
Anyway, my chief cook and bottle washer has hopped a freight train to Eastern Washington tonight, so I'm left here to get the dishes done and fold a load of laundry before heading to bed.
Hope everyone has Happy Dreams and a Wonderful Tomorrow.:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

On our December trip I bought one of those caramel apples. It was an apple-pie type one that Tinkermell loves. So thought I'd try it out. It was good but too much of something, I was sick of the flavor about halfway through. The kids didn't like it at all, and I'm too cheap to let it go to waste, so I ate it anyway. :lmao:
Anyway, those chocolate-covered caramel ones look divine!

I read a bit on how they came to the name for that group.. it was cute because at first the person posted it with correct pselling and then realized it had to spelled with the "ee" to make it sound like the accent. :rotfl:
When I e-mailed their name to my mom she totally didn't get it. :rotfl: I had to call her and explain it to her.

I find it quite funny that Monday is a holiday and hubby didn't even mention that he has the day off.. I don't think he even knows. :lmao:
He's been a bit rattled this week, it's parent week. He had parent visitors/volunteers and the superentendent of schools did a walk thru in his room during lab.
The mayor was at the school yeterday.. ran out of time and he didn't make it to E's class. He was just fine with that. :rotfl:
He's doing labs this week using bunsen burners for the first time. :scared:
One student burned himself on a test tube (not following safety guidelines) and a boy with BIG hair managed to catch his hair on fire. I told him they should tie up their hair, he told me that wasn't possible in this case. It was an "afro" style.. it's not like he can put it in a pony. ohhh I see. oops!
I got a chuckle out of the hair thing because for graduation I gave E a book titled "Teach Like Your Hair is on Fire".
Student's hair on fire is not quite what I had in mind. :rotfl:

Hi ladies! It's already Thursday night here, it snowed all day and I was stuck inside bored all day. I really need a job.
I have been trying to figure out where to go for our honeymoon, even though it won't be for a couple of years I want to figure it out now. I was thinking Bora Bora but it's sooooooo expensive and I'm not sure that it's a good idea. We could do a cruise, a cruise is less expensive and all inclusive, but Bora Bora looks amazing. What would you guys do? Any advice?
Dh and I are going to celebrate Valentines day tomorrow. We made reservations at our favourite restaurant, they were booked on Saturday. I got him some chocolates, and I know he got me ice cream but I think it's supposed to be a secret. He usually gets me flowers, but I don't care if he does this year or not I'm just so excited about going out to eat tomorrow. WOOHOO A DAY I DON'T HAVE TO COOK!
Any special plans for you ladies besides oil changes? :lmao:

Hi Christina! How are you? Bora Bora sounds nice. At least you have plenty of time to decide where to go. I hope you find a job soon. :yay:
:rotfl: I know....nothing says "I Love you" like a new oil cartridge. :rotfl: I can't take mine to other places because my car has a cartridge, so I have to go to the dealer.
I got a tire rotation in about 5-10 minutes during my lunch break. That's the fastest wait time I've ever had at Amercia's Tire. Oh and all the employees and manager that I didn't like (the ones who ripped off me and my family members) are no longer there. They have been replaced by some really nice people. :yay:
Oh and one co-worker of mine just recently had a baby (last summer I believe). Apparently his fiancee's family called child services and they had their baby taken away on the account of negligence. He works full time and said that his fiancee' sits on her rump all day at home, wasn't taking care of their baby and also didn't clean or do any type of housework. I don't think they have a car either because he rides his bike to work and back (the city he lives in is about 15 minutes away by car but imagine by bicycle :faint: ). His fiancee's calls the office non-stop and always on the same phone line (it's not even our main phone line but one of the 6 phone lines we have). I was told that his fiancee just turned 20 years old and she wants to party and such. I feel so sorry for their baby.... :(

Our big romantic plans for Saturday include me sitting on my rump on the couch directing my husband around. We have a SUPER busy weekend planned, all kinds of things that need to get done.. rearrange our room, fix our bed frame, put up the crib, figure out some place to put the babies clothes.. Move our giant bookshelf, clean a ton of stuff out of the house to the garage, grocery shop, make a bunch of meals ahead.. Thankfully we have all day Friday and Saturday to get it done. My dh is gonna be sweatin! I cant do anything besides sit, or lay down.. Im still having wicked contractions.

I do know that they have 2 beds because I booked their room with ours but still 2 people will have to be on the floor. Why do I get the feeling DBF and I are going to end up with 2 extra people in our room? :sad2:
I actually just purchased a season pass for Sea World online. I used their EZPay program amd it's just $8.25 per month. I was going to do the buy a day get a year promo but with the one I got it includes parking and was only $40 more and I'm sure we'll go at least 4 times this year. Plus now I get in park discounts and no black out day.

Even when the teacher had concerns with N (before he got services) it didn't take that long.

The good news is it took so long because Alec's teachers care so much. I was talking to them for nearly 30 minutes (almost missed Alecia's :rolleyes1 ). Then as we were leaving, his teachers were talking to the speech teacher, so they all called me over to further discuss him. All is good - but set to get more hectic as one of my managers is leaving in a week :scared1: . No major biggie - but I will definitely be working my 45 hours/week :faint:
Conferences went good! Alecia scared us 1st quarter with a 1.8 reading level - but she brought it up to a 3.3!!!
Alec - wow - the kid continues to make huge progress - and they are super impressed by him. Again though we get to the speech problem, and what exactly to do. He is fine now, but 1st grade has gotten to be so hard we are concerned, but I don't think there is any though of retaining him at this point. They continue to find ways to help him get better and to work with him. They are going to try a couple of new programs, and basically just experiment until they find the right thing. :goodvibes

Whoa, I freaked out for a sec thinking he was in 1st grade already. :rotfl:
Awesome! So the concern is not that he won't be able to learn first grade level work, but still how to communicate with him? Or rather him to communicate with them? Sorry - had to eat dinner....
The biggest concern right now is actually how he can communicate with the teachers so that they can understand that he is learning. The kindergarten skills are pretty easily identified by pointing, but once he gets into the intense reading it will be harder to identify.
Alecia is in 2nd grade.
I am losing a manager for about 8 months. He is having a pretty extensive surgery that will take about 2 months, with about a 6 month recovery.

On Alec: That makes sense. They test reading ability by having the kids read aloud, so I can see how that would be hard to test with Alec.
Wow, a 6 month recovery? DH is still recovering from his knee surgery in December, and that has seemed like forever! I can't imagine a 6 month recovery. Poor guy. I hope it goes well for him. :faint:

I forgot DH had to work late tonight.
I got a roast going in the oven around 4:00; it's small, so my mom thought it would only take about an hour or maybe an hour and a half. I let it go until 6:00, then checked the temp, and it was still too low (plus bled when I pulled the guage out!) :scared:
So good thing DH is late! (Of course, we're all starving in the meantime...) :rotfl:
Thought I'd also try some glazed carrots. I think that's what they're called. The recipe uses brown sugar and orange zest! Sounds yummy! I hope everything turns out.

And good for Alecia getting her reading level up! :thumbsup2
What was the deal with the earlier score? Did she not focus during the test (like the test wasnt' a real accurate read of her level?) She's such a bright kid, that would really surprise me, too! In any case, she is doing really well now. :)

The kid (he is 18 now) was born with one leg shorter the other, and I don't think he has any ability to move it (not that it slows him down any). I know they are going to stretch the bone, and then I think do a metal rod :confused3 I don't know for sure, I didn't want to pry.

:yay: I am very happy. We were floored in October. We had Alec's conference first, and his grades were awesome and all was great - then to get the news that Alecia was reading below level - we were shocked!!! The thing with her though is she will only do what is expected of her. Once we made clear to her that we expected better, she got better :rotfl2: . Same with her spelling. She missed a few on a test (ok, it was a pretest) , and we were pretty hard on her and made her study like mad. She has gotten 100%'s on the pretests ever since :rolleyes1 :woohoo:

Hi guys!
Well I'm all done with the Farm Show. We sold a ton of steak sandwiches!! Actually about 5 tons worth!
A record breaking year. Tuesday we did $48,000.00 and yesterday $54,000.00!! Not sure yet what today's take in was.
I am really really tired. Can you say exausted with a capital E!!
Anyways, just wanted to check in!
Megan, are you ready for those precious babies to arrive??
Wish I had time to catch up, but I just don't have the gumption!!
Have a good evening!

Keep in mind that a standardized test is only a measure of how the student did on that day, at that time of the testing.
What if they didn't sleep well? what if they were in a hurry and skipped breakfast? What if the stress and anxiety of test taking means they color in any dot in hopes it's "okay" just to get thru as quickly as possible. Not to mention.. what group of people are the tests standardized for? Is it for every cultural group? (hubby ran into this for state testing last year when students were asking "what is....", they had no knowledge of the topic to grasp what the story was about. )
There is much stress placed on testing in all age levels, but really it's a poor way to measure achievement and progress.
NAEYC (National Assoc of Educators of Young Children) does not support standardized tesing for children birth to grade 3.. yet testing is federally mandated for preschoolers in Head Start and schools use testing as a tool to check progress and "track" children.
I've had training on the portfolio method, time consuming to collect materials and observe at frequent inervals. Lots of extra work for teachers but truly it shows what children have learned and acheived over time. Better tool for parents to see the actual progress than to stnad on thier head and try to intrepret a test report.
Can you tell I don't like testing?
Alas, it's not a perfect world. Federal dollars are tied to those crummy tests.

Melody... I am beyond ready. I go to the Dr on Wednesday, and I will be 34 weeks.. So I am going to see if we can schedule an induction. She will probably want to wait until the next appt. though. I dont know how far out she will schedule me. With my other two I was scheduled for the same week.. So I might have to wait another week or two after this. Im so freaking ready.

Wow. There was a kid in my elementary school (obviously a looong time ago, LOL!) who had a procedure done for the same thing. I am sure amazing progress has been made since then.
That's a big deal, I sure hope the best for this guy!

Yeah, we've had similar issues with DS8. He was getting 100s on his spelling tests, then started forgetting the spelling list so we couldn't study together, or couldn't do his homework involving the spelling words. :sad2:
A stern lecture and a few cut privileges did wonders for his memory. :rotfl:

Oh shoot! I forgot I left stuff in the washer! Better go :laundy:
DH talked my neighbor friend into watching the boys for a few hours so he could take me out to dinner for an early Valentine's Day treat.
We went to Anthony's and had a lovely meal overlooking the water. We had mussels as an appetizer (OMG, that garlic flavored melted butter is yummy!), he had a whole crab and I had steak with tempura prawns. We finished off the meal with chocolate mousse (his) and caramelized vanilla cream (sort of like creme brulee.) I. Am. So... Full. :rotfl2:
My friend treated the kids to pizza for dinner, then sent them downstairs to watch Madagascar 2. We showed up about 15 minutes into the movie, so DS4 burst into tears and refused to go home. Since I still wanted my friend to speak to me after this, I told him I was sorry, but he really did have to come home with us. He wailed all the way home. :rotfl:
(Good thing we're going back tomorrow night for dinner and cards!) :ssst:

Wow, boppin' night on the Hyena thread!:rotfl2: Good Morning Ladies and Happy Valentine's Day! Sadly I will not see my sweetie on Valentine's Day, but I did get a kiss from him as I was pulling in the driveway from work and he was leaving for work. He took a train to Pasco last night, gets his 8 hours rest over there and then will hop a train back today. So if I'm lucky he MIGHT make it back before midnight...the trip takes anywhere from 4-12 hours. Average about 8 hours. Although if it takes them 12 hours, they are required to stop the train! No running trains for more than 12 hours in a row. Then they have to call a shuttle van to come get them and bring a fresh crew in.

Super exciting romantic day at the Staley house. :lmao: We got up.. did laundry, moved everything out of our room and "discussed" how to fix our bed frame. It went a little like this..
Me: Well THATS why it wont stay together.. The clamp is bent.
DH: Huh?
Me: The CLAMP.. its bent. You know?? The CLAMP??
Dh: Let me see..
Me: See what? Its bent. Look right here.. See?? You know, where its bent? Can you fix it?
DH: How is it bent??
Me:   Dont even worry about, because Im about to shove it in your freaking BUTT HOLE. THEN you can see how bent it is!
Why?? Doesnt he know that I am borderline COMPLETELY NUTS right now?? I said it was bent, and he freaking spent like 20 minutes deciding if HE thought it was actually bent or not!!!
Anyhow.. I asked him if there was a cheaper way to fix it then spending $70. on a new frame.. Welll... he could take it to work, and bend it back. NO!! I want it fixed NOW. Babies COMING. SOON. Very freaking SOON. Like, any day now! I dont want to wait around for you to fix this thing at work.
So we went to the hardware store. He said.. JB Weld. That should work, it bonds metal. We use it at work. Okay... Ummmm... Please tell me thats not what holds airplanes together. :scared1: :lmao: :lmao: So my bedframe is not JB Welded together. :thumbsup2
My room is rearranged, my bed is put together, my crib is up.. we bought the babies a little dresser thing for their clothes... I am now ready for babies!! Bring it ON! :cool1: :cool1:

Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day. :) My bf and I went to get an oil change for my car. We browsed around Fry's Electronics until my car was ready. Then we headed to Camarillo Outlet. I exchanged an item at DC Shoes and got a pair of sneakers that were on sale for $19.99! :woohoo:
Then we headed to the movie theatre to watch Push. Dakota Fanning did an awesome job in this movie but the overall story wasn't that great. After the movie I saw this huge crowd of people waiting in line to buy tickets. It always stumps me how so many people want to wait in line to buy tickets and yet there are 6 or 8 kiosk machines where you can just buy the tickets right away. They don't use these machines for some reason. :confused3  My bf and I always use it but then again, are there that many people who don't have credit cards or don't want to use their credit card?
We ate a late breakfast/lunch and dinner combined at a sushi place. I got salmon teriyaki which came with california rolls and soft shell crab.
On the way home we stopped at Walmart to buy a few things.
My bf is too stressed over his car (his insurance sucks and doesn't return his calls on time) so he made me a card that was very sweet. :goodvibes I told him he doesn't have to buy me a present.

Finally! :lmao:
After being postponed twice due to illness(es), the baby shower finally took place. The family came over at 10:00 this morning. Poor Megan managed to waddle in and get to the couch without dropping any babies. ;)
Alex and Mikalah played quietly at the train table for awhile, then once the kids warmed up to one another, they starting running through the house together. It was mostly cute and only occasionally too noisy. :rotfl:
DS4 and Mikalah are buds now, they were so stinking' cute together! :lovestruc
Megan looks awesome, really healthy. I don't know if my telling her was a good thing or not. When you feel like absolute crap, is that a nice thing to hear? Anyway, it's true, she looks really good. And h u g e !!! :teeth:
Her belly is nice and round, with sort of a bulge on the upper left, and another on the lower right (heads, she says.) We did watch a wave-like ripple movement across the waistband of her pants, it was soooo cool! And she was having a lot of contractions, some of which hurt a bit, but apparently that's just the way things are going to be until the kids decide they're ready for the big, big world. :goodvibes

OKay.. who wants to hear about the rest of my evening? its was.. Something. I did NOT realize how late it was when we left the Alex2k house. I am so sorry for that by the way! I felt like a big ole butt head! My husband was THRILLED with me. :rolleyes1 :lmao: Naw.. he was totally fine with it. Probably doesnt even remember now. So we start cruising on home, and I was having some odd pressure in my bum.. But then I HAD been sitting up all day, so things like that happen.
We decide to hit Chevys for dinner.. Yum. So good! About halfway through dinner the pressure is getting really bad, and my back starts to go all wonky.. Both my kids had to potty, so dh took them.. The waiter walks up to me.. Ma'am?? Are... you okay? :scared1: Seriously? It is THAT obvious?? I look around and everyone is staring at me.  Its not like I was on my hands and knees screaming or anything!! I was just sitting in my chair!! Frelan gets back, and I started bawling. Yep. Right there.. In the restaurant. :sad2: We get the check, and pay.. Yes. The waiter was FAST!! :lmao: On the way out to the car, Frelan was like... If your water would have broke... I bet we would have gotten dinner for free. :sad2: That man. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
We get home, and I use the potty and lay down.. The kids started to get ready for bed.. My mom called to say she was at my Grandmas house. Excellent! My grandma only lives about 5 minutes away! :thumbsup2 Then the contractions start getting bad. REAL BAD. And I start puking. Always fun. So Frelan starts to panic, and in record time cleaned out the van.. called in to work, and Between him and the kids managed to pack a few bags. All the while I am on my knees on the floor of the bathroom bawling, barfing, and contracting. Oh.. and pooping up a storm too. Sound like real labor to anyone else??? Yeah. Me too. So we called Grandma, and off to the hospital we went!
Get there, get hooked up.. My heart rates starts going through the roof.. My hands are tingling, vision blurry.. the whole nine. My contractions are fast and hard.. They call the dr. and she SAYS... We might be having babies tonight!!:cool1: :cool1: Check my cervix, and I am about a centimeter dilated. Not much, but considering it was rock hard and closed just a few days ago.. It promising. They will check in an hour, and either send me home, or settle me in for some baby having. They work on getting my heart rate down... It goes down a bit, not much.
I get checked, and... guess what?? oh yeah. No change. She waits for my heart rate to even out a bit more, and gives me more terbutaline. Which sends my heart RACING again. I was shaking, and panting... I couldnt see.. Oh man.. It was freaky. Frelan went running out to find the nurse, who was like.. Its normal! Dont worry!! Yeah right. My husband is going to have a freaking ulcer by the time these babies come.
SOOOO.... We pack everything back up, and get my discharge stuff going. The wheelchair gets there, and they give me an Ambien so I can sleep.. We say goodnight to Grandma, and head on home. We got home, and the pill was already starting to kick in.. Dh helped me up the stairs, and set me on the bed. DONT MOVE!! :lmao:
Oy. My husband wont let me off the couch, or the bed.. and also said we arent going back to the hospital until my water breaks. :lmao:

Just a quick drive by posting. Had to check and make sure that our Hyena family hadn't grown by two today. I think we should start taking bets, kinda like one of those football pools. I'll take March 2nd at 2:45am.:thumbsup2

Maybe your DH is on to something. Just pull that "my water broke" at a different restaurant every night and you won't have to cook a single meal until after the babies are born.:lmao:

Poor Frelan and poor you! yeah sounded like full on labor to me.
FYI for our non-moms... it's not like that for everyone. Which is good, otherwise world population would be extremely small. :lmao: My naturally started labor was very calm and slow building. But every body is different, sounds like it's Staley's nature to pop out babies storm style. Unpleasant feeling and wicked fast! :scared:

We had a fun weekend, lots of driving back and forth to WI but to see MIL a tiny bit happier was all for good. :thumbsup2
She sounded blue on the phone, she had given money to both "kids" and had very little for herself. It pisses me off because at some point she has to tell them NO and they need to sink or swim. I realize it's hard as a parent to see your kids struggle. But if it's to the point that you yourself can't make ends meet.. then you need to say sorry.. figure it out.
SIL lost her job, it was her own fault. She was to sign up to work during the holidays, requirement of the job. She failed to sign up.. they assigned her hours and she didn't show... got fired. Has been unemployed (in a small college town) since November. Applied everywhere, not being picky.. there are just no jobs in her town. Her boyfriend works construction-- no jobs of course with winter plus ecomnomy.
[okay, in this case yes she does need help. She's trying at least. Personally it might be time to move with boyfriend here. Lots of jobs for HHA/PCA clients, she knows sign language too.. she would do well here in the cities in health field. However, it might not happen as then MIL would be alone in a town that she doesn't like.]
BIL doesn't quite have enough to cover all his costs . Apparently MIL co-signed loans for him (ummm why?!?) and now because her credit sucks with the foreclosure.. she can't co-sign another loan.
He has just enough to cover school expenses, food stamps.. no spending money, no money to maintain a phone. MIL gives him money. (Personally, he had the essentials covered. Yeah it sucks to not have spending money but if you have the basics covered as a student-- then you are just fine. Get a tracfone.. it's cheap) MIL says he's looking for a job but of course can't have work hours during his school hours. [ I think it's time to pack up and go home. Put education on hold for awhile. It's not even a sure thing that he will be in the radiography internship next year.. it's a difficult application process. ]
It breaks our hearts to see all of them having problems, when we are doing just fine. We had our fun night out at a local bar/comedy club on Sunday.. got MIL nicely sloshed. Bought steak to cook at home as a treat. The only moment of "gimme a break lady" was she doesn't want to be around the dialysis stuff. yeah, whatever.. get over it. It's nothing new (12 years and counting) , it beats the alternative :rolleyes1 Be happy and hopeful, tears and fear will get you nothing but a belly ache.
