Hey guys!! Ugh. I feel like CRAP. I have been having contractions pretty steadily the past few days. They get going good.. and then they stop. Which is good, it IS a few weeks before we want them to come. But it is making for an uncomfortable time for me right now.
Meanwhile.. Im just sitting here on my sofa with my legs crossed.. Trying not to pop out any babies on the floor. :rotfl2:Not yet, not yet!!! Keep them babies in you as looooooooooong as possible!!:thumbsup2
They're gonna come out all right, but hopefully not for a few more weeks. :crowded: :rotfl2:
Of course you know I didn't go through natural childbirth, I had c-sections. The docs felt that my uterus wouldn't withstand contractions and could rupture. When I went into the hospital to have DS8, and I was in the hospital gown and getting hooked up to everything, I started having contractions. Then after several minutes they really started to HURT! In a panic I told the nurse, "I think I'm having contractions! I'm not supposed to have contractions!" (I'm picturing my belly splitting open and my child and all my organs spilling out, LOL!)
She looks at me like I'm freakin' NUTS, and says gently, "It's OK... You're in a hospital." Oh. Right... DUH! :rotfl2:
But one of my friends described childbirth. She said, "It felt like I was passing a dinner plate!" Oh my! :lmao:Ah huh!!! ::yes::
Oh HECK YEAH! We were big milk drinkers in my family.
So was DH. In fact, DH was so cute on our first date. The waiter came bearing a wine list and wine glasses, asking if he could take our drink order, yammering on about his own recommendations. When he finally stopped talking DH said, "I'd like a large glass of milk, please." :rotfl2:
All at the same time I was so impressed that DH wasn't trying to impress me, relieved that I wasn't going to be talked into trying wine (which I don't like), glad that he clearly speaks his mind regardless of what anyone thinks, and charmed that he loved milk! :thumbsup2That is so sweet. My DH used to order milk too when we went out for dinner.
I know! It sounds... uncomfortable at least. Hoohaw bling, what will they think up next? :lmao:I know...........too funny.:rotfl:
Grrrrrrrr...
I told DS4 to go change his pull-up TWO HOURS ago! He whined and carried on, and I ignored him. So he left the room (as if going to the bathroom to clean up), and then it occurred to me I hadn't heard or seen him in a long time.
I found him in the living room looking through a magazine. I again told him to clean himself up, and brought him into the bathroom. More whining ensued.
I ignored him and left.
NOW he is saying, "Mama, I just peed on the floor!"
"You WHAT?!?!" :mad:Man Alex, you are a woman of the utmost patience.
He wanted me to come help him clean it up. I told him he was too big to be pooping or peeing in his pants, and enough was enough. If he made a mess, he'd have to clean the whole thing up.
Now he's doing the kind of crying that involves at least 4 octaves. (It is a little funny...) :lmao::lmao:
I can almost hear it! :scared:

Hello, just a quick post. I'm currently at my parents home picking up my little sister and our guest's daughter. The mom decided not to go (I think she wants to stay behind and have my parents take her shopping). We are going to DCA today, despite the rain. I could tell the daughter really wants to go.
Hopefully it will be sunny this afternoon.....according to the weather forecast online. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg204/Frances517_2008/fingers_crossed.gif
I hope you guys have a good day! :grouphug:

Watching the news and just heard something that will make me and all of the neighbors happy. The Empress Palace wedding place on our road filed for bankruptcy this week!!!
They are now being sued because the last few weeks they took lots of deposits, fully knowing they were filing bankruptcy (a big no-no).
We've had nothing but problems with them. Their guests put balloons and signs in our yard, we had to put up No Trespassing signs. We asked the Empress Palace to please come remove their customer's signs after each wedding and they told us they weren't responsible for what their customers did on our property. Their drunken guest come pee in our yard and throw out beer and wine bottles all the time. One of their kids was "dating" a meth dealer that was living and working there. Got arrested several times. Anyway, I'm happy that we don't have to deal with that mess anymore!

I need to finish our taxes today. I'm almost done, but since DH was unemployed I can write off job search expenses...so I need to come up with a reasonable list of dry cleaning expenses, mileage, paper, ink, internet expenses, etc... I didn't keep exact track of everything, but I think I can come up with a reasonable estimate that would be accepted by the IRS in the event of an audit.

I'm terrible at keeping track, but we usually dont have enough "extras" and just take the standard deduction. I'm sure theere are things I could have added but dind't want to press my luck, as it is.. I goofed and transposed some numbers and had to resend the federal. Oddly both states accepted it, even though J's SSN was wrong. :confused3

They don't usually check them right away, they have up to 3 years to audit. So they usually wait about 2 years after filing then alert you to mistakes. That way they make more interest money.
Not sure what other deductions you might have had, but you could write off your moving expenses due to E's new job.

We didn't meet the time requirement, we moved in June.. didn't work until November and the "job" will be done before the 12 months is up. Just short of the required 39 weeks.
That's okay, it's a deduction (did it last year which was slick).. we have negative tax rate. Deduct from negative.. still negative. ;)

I had a bit of a problem with the tax program I bought this year. DD's college messed up and sent her a 1099 form showing a $30 scholarship and $45 paid in college fees. Running Start students aren't supposed to get those, but they mis-coded her last quarter. So her on-line class fees of $30 that were waived had to be considered income and the $45 was the total fees we paid all year for her classes. I called the college and they have fixed it for 2009, but it was such a small amount that I didn't make them re-do the form.
Figured it wasn't a problem, until I discovered that our tax program keeps asking if it's Bruce or I that are going to college. It made us input our children's birthdates, so I think it can't recognize that a 16yo is going to college. :rotfl2: I think I've found a way around it, but spent about 30 minutes fiddling with it last night trying to get it to recognize that it's DD's scholarship, not ours.:rotfl2:

I do my property tax refund by hand, MN doesn't need it until August so they don't have e file ready. Turbo Tax halted the efiling on ALL of the forms because of it. Had to rip it out.
Plus, they did the form wrong ( we get an extra deduction w hubby as disabled) and we would have got $100 less back.:crazy2:
I missed having that extra rebate last year, ahhhh I love MN again. :lmao:

Washington has no income tax, only sales tax. So we don't have to file a state return, just federal. Makes doing taxes much easier. The only downside is we didn't used to get the state income tax deduction on the federal return. But they changed that a couple of years ago and we now get a general sales tax deduction, plus we can add on large ticket items such as sales tax on cars, boats, furniture, etc...

Really? Without coupons Spam (per ounce) costs more than a tube of ground turkey or small pkg of chicken. :confused3 I would rather go with smaller servings of meat than to buy over processed canned meat.

Strange, I would only buy it with a coupon when it's dirt cheap and use it for a pantry thing...to make a quick meal when I don't have much time. But who knows how people think??:confused3

That's cool.
MN is super easy, in most cases it's a single one sided page form. You can claim a credit and a deduction for school expenses (supplies, transporation, enrichement classes/camps, tutoring , computer expenses). It's not a dollar for dollar type, it's a percentage based on income. But it helps.
If you qualify for EIC you get a MN working family credit, calculated by taking a percentage of the EIC (around 20% ?? ) (only of your income earned in MN).
Then the property tax rebate.. as a renter I get a form form our landlord that states how much property tax we paid in rent. Lower income means you get more of that back. Phases out as income goes higher.
Home owners have qualified for extra refunds.. when MN had "excess" . Obviously not happening this year! :scared:
Our schools rely on property tax for levy funding, along with state and federal dollars per pupil. We do have districts that earn more than others.. not fair.. but we do have open enrollment in MN.

Ahhh.. Taxes.. Yep. we do standard deduction. Ours are super simple, just one income, this year we also had the unemployment.. A whopping couple hundred bucks. Woohoo. So it takes me all of 15 minutes to fill out. We dont qualify for any special credits.. Just the child tax credit.. This year i was really glad it was so easy, I barely have the brain power to fill out dh's work share unemployment stuff every week.. Much less some complicated tax thing. I would have ended up with brain soup!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay... I started packing my hospital bag today.. Mainly the babies stuff they will need to come home in. A couple of gowns each, a couple of onsies each, a hat and booties each, a few blankets each... Sassies, and diapers. My clothes are packed.. I just need to throw in my toiletries and I am good!
Then i made lists for what the kids will need.. Not only for the hospital, but for the week they will be with my mom. Oy. That is a lot of stuff. I went over it with Alex, in case we have to leave in an emergency, and I dont have time to pack their bags up... I have all our lists taped to the wall, and Alex knows where all his and his sisters stuff is so he can help my mom pack if need be.
My lists.. OMG. I have 4 of them!:rotfl2: One for the kids things and what needs to be packed for them to get through the week or so without me. Then I have our phone list.. Who needs to be called and in what order. MY packing list, stuff for me, the babies and Frelan in the hospital.. and a list of things we need to get done before the babies come. Which is surprisingly short! I thought that one was going to be two sided. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: But there really isnt much to do!

We are relaxing at home this evening... with only one child. :cool1:
DS8 went to play at a friend's house this afternoon, then they invited him to stay for dinner... then they invited him to spend the night. After making sure that he was being well-behaved, and that he got his reading done before he went, we agreed that he could stay. DH ran some clothes and toothbrush and toothpaste over.
His brother just found out about it, and is none too happy. He missed having his brother around this afternoon and was very snuggly with me. (Not that I minded so much...) :rolleyes1
My cold is moving along... from the totally stuffed up nose to the not-so-stuffed-up-annoying-coughing stage. Poor DH, I don't know how he slept last night. :crazy2:
But that means progress, right? Closer to the end, right? Right? :thumbsup2

Dang. I'm experimenting with dinner tonight. Not a big deal, just marinaded some chicken and popped it in the oven to cook, basing the time and oven temp on a recipe I have for sherried chicken. (It was chicken parts in a sauce, so I figured it must be similar, right?)
For some reason it isn't quite done yet, after an extra 10 minutes already. I sliced open a piece and it looked too reddish around the bone. So another 15, ya think?

DS4 just fell asleep in front of the TV, all curled up in a ball sitting up, head down on his knees. It was sooo cute! Naturally, I took pictures.
I picked him up to take him to bed, and he smelled bad, dang it! So I laid him down and started changing him. He woke up enough to stand up while I put on the fresh pull-up, and then crawled into Daddy's lap. So DH pulled him in under the blankie.
DS started chattering away, but I couldn't tell what he said. DH said, "No, honey, you can't crawl inside my tummy."
DS then said, "When I'se a baby, I'se in Mama's tummy." DH confirmed that this was true. DS continued, "And Daddy, you were batending you da doctor and you took me outta Mama's tummy." DH looked at me like, "WTH?" :confused3

Immediately after his death his wife is inquiring about insurance policies, she starts going out drinking and partying, and got breast implants within two months...
Seems pretty much leading to the obvious conclusion, but they've indicated there are more twists coming up. DANG IT, I have to find out how it ends! :lmao:

Yeah... I dont know. Frelan loves zombie movies... and all sorts of freaky gory crap too. But I guess watching his daughter come out of my body made him a little light headed. And THEN came the placenta! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: He was impressed he was still standing. :lmao: :lmao:
Im not into blood and gore, and I gotta say... Watching a full on birth kinda freaks me out too. Its just kinda like.. :scared: My body should NOT do that!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I asked DH what time we are supposed to get DS8 in the morning. He said he suggested 9:00, and his friend's mom said, "I don't even want to hear the phone ring before 9:30." :lmao:
I suppose that means DS will be staying up late tonight, I think she pretty much lets her kids stay up as late as they want. I hope DS is doing OK, this is the family with the little boy DS4's age who is pretty wild.

http://i40.tinypic.com/14jlw0x.gif Good Morning Ladies & Gents! :goodvibes
I took my little sister and our 2 visitors to DCA yesterday. I can't even begin to mention how scared I was driving on the 5fwy in the pouring rain! I drove slow and made it to the parking structure. :faint: We got to the park rather quickly. There was no traffic at all, which was good.
We got on the tram and I was surprised to see that despite the rain, there was still a bit of a crowd (not too crowded) headed to the parks. A lot of people were wearing ponchos. I had a hoodie on and my umbrella.
The first ride we went on was Toy Story Mania. It was the first time I only had to wait 5 minutes to get on that ride. I was so thrilled and happy! :rotfl2: Our visitors loved it and thought it was so cool! :cheer2: Then we rode on CA Screamin. It was fun but it started to rain a bit hard. Imagine going 45 mph and having the rain hit you in the face. It hurt so bad and felt as if little knives were stabbing my cheeks. :crazy2: :scared:  The visitors said their cheeks hurt too and then my little sister says: "I like rain!" :teeth: and that's when I told her she was nuts! :sad2: :rotfl:
We rode Maliboomer, Soarin over CA, they rode TOT while I waited for them. We went to TOT and the wait was 60 minutes so we decided to ride Monter's Inc and see Muppets 3D. By the time we finished both, the wait for TOT dropped to 13 minutes, which was really cool. They loved TOT and said it was fun. :thumbsup2 I got to take a pic with Frozone and Goofy. :yay:
I took them to It's Tough to Be A Bug and they were startled by it. :lmao: They hated the black widows dropping from the ceiling and I told them that part scared me the most! :faint:
When we rode Monster's Inc, Roz said: "Hello girls! Could you do me a favor and scream for me?" so I went: "AHHHHH!!!" and she said: "Thank you! That was a nice scream!" :rotfl:
Did you know that they got rid of the abominable snowman from that ride? I loved him opening the door and saying: "Snowcone?" and the smell of lemon. Now it's the door next to that won that shows some monster getting hurt while trying to scare :(
*Some things I discovered: Now Disney has 2 drink sizes for their soda. It's the regular size and they have a large size now. Just thought I'd share. :rotfl:
I have a ton of pics of things I want to show you guys. They got ride of the year of a million dream and now their promo is called "Celebrate Today." They changed the flower bed at the DL entrance to a Mickey Head and some balloons off to the sides. I didn't get to take a pic of it but it's really cute.
I'll try to upload some pics for you guys to see later. Hope everyone has a good day. pixiedust:

Good... dang it, it's afternoon already! :rotfl:
We picked up DS8 from his friend's house. He had a good time, his friend had a good time, friend's little brother seemed to have a good time, too... and even flashed us as we stood chatting with his mother. Oh my! :scared1:
DS8 asked me (in front of his friend) if the friend could come over today. I said 'not today' and he started getting whiney. And the friend got all pouty, too, so obviously they'd already discussed it. GEEZ, I hate that! So we had a little chat when we got home:
Me: You know, we let you go to your friend's house to play yesterday. Then we let you stay for dinner when you asked. Then we let you spend the night, and brought over clean clothes and your toothbrush for you. Then we come pick you up, and you start giving attitude? Do you think that makes us inclined to let you do that again?
DS: But I just wanted him to come and play.
Me: No, listen. We let you go to have fun, then you give us attitude when we pick you up. Do you think we want to let you go again then?
DS, pouting: No.
Me: Son, you just spent all day and all night with this friend. Besides that, you know the rules! There are toys all over every room in this house. You can't have friends over unless you pick up your toys. That's all I ever ask of you, and you don't do it unless I make you, right? So don't even ask me when you know your toys are everywhere!
DS: They're not in your room...
DH stepped in: I know of several of your toys that are in our bedroom, so don't even go there. There also are a bunch on the floor of my office.
Me: And don't ever ask me if a friend can come over in front of the friend! That's rude and can be hurtful to your friend if I say no, and it's not fair to me. You clean up your toys first, then you ask Mama and Daddy if you can have a friend over. If we say OK, then you invite the friend over, not before. If you ask me again in front of your friend, it's going to be an automatic NO even if the house is clean. Got it?
DS, still pouting but a little guilty: Yes.
Oy. Kids, I tell ya... :sad2:
The friend is a nice but whiney kid who has a very permissive mother, so he doesn't often hear the word 'no'. I'm fine with DS playing with him, but I do notice behavioral changes when he spends a LOT of time there, so I limit the time somewhat.
My house is hardly ever tidy and I'm very self-conscious about that, but less so if at least the toys and dirty clothes the kids leave all over the house are picked up, that's most of the battle! I'm fine with having someone come over and play IF the boys do their part first. At least pick up the toys in the common areas and the boy's bedroom. But that hardly ever happens...
DS got in trouble at the beginning of the school year when he told this friend that he had his room clean but still wasn't allowed to have friends over. The friend actually confronted me about it after school!
He told me it wasn't fair and that he should be allowed to come over. So I stopped walking and point-blank asked DS if that was true that his room was clean. He hung his head and had to admit that it wasn't. I was annoyed and amused at the same time that my son had lied to his friend to save face, but threw me under the bus doing it! He probably won't be doing that again... :rotfl:

We went to my Grandmas house today.. She had a little box of things she bought for the babies and wanted us to come over and get them. So we did. Onsies, receiving blankets, LOTS of bibs... wipes and diapers. She wanted to get me some preemie diapers just in case we need them. They only fit up to a 6 pound baby, so I dont think we will. But we have them just in case! I think I have enough wipes to last at least the first 6 months.. Enough diapers to last the first week. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've done that with parmesean cheese before.. it had clumps so I did my usual shake and tap to declumpify. Only to find that the last person who used it (hubby) didn't turn the lid to the closed position. It looked like I had dandruff, the size of parmesean cheese, in my hair. Kinda stinky too. :headache:

Another not so pleasant food wearing experience involving my husband..
First time he got a can of Starbucks double shot iced espresso , he shook it.. shook it.. shook it. Said "here honey, why don't you try it" .
Opens the can (aimed at me) SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSsss
The contents erupted and sprayed me down like some beer floozie at a wet T shirt contest.
I was not amused.
I remind him of this incident every time he buys a can of Starbucks now.
No honey YOU open it first.. and I walk far far away.

My bluetooth fell out of my purse yesterday :( I didn't even notice it was missing until I was headed home from DCA yesterday. My bf and I went to Fry's Electronics where I got a new one. They had it on sale for $30 (a pink Motorola one). We ate lunch at El Torito. I had the crunchy taco trio with steak. The food was really good and my meal was less than $10 :thumbsup2
We stopped by a mall and I got a track jacket from Macy's (American Rag brand). I donated $2 and got 20% off. Then we headed to Target where I needed to buy more Dentyne gum and some shampoo and conditioner. I love the new Herbal Essence Hydralicious line. They smell great and they work great. :lovestruc
I stopped by the pharmacy on my way home to pick up my allergy meds but they were already closed :headache: I didn't think they would be closed before 6:30pm. Oh well, I will try again tomorrow.
Our visitors left this morning. My parents asked last night if I would stop by their house to say goodbye but I told them I would most likely be asleep. :cloud9: I think I woke up around 11am. I was so zonked and sleepy. :faint:
Oooh....two of my purses sold on ebay and I'm really happy. :yay: :yay: The buyers that won got a good deal. I still have one left that is still going and I hope it sells well. *crosses fingers*

Then we went to Ross, it was really picked thru so didn't find much. Cleaned out my kitchen cabinets last night and threw out a bunch of old plastic bowls that were getting pretty icky looking. We are replacing them with glass (DD seems to think my cancer was caused by eating off plastic). She refuses to eat or drink from plastic anymore. DS4 pooped in his pants (pull-up). TWICE! Ugh!!! The first time he got the now daily lecture. The second time DH was almost beside himself... which is kinda funny because usually it's me getting so frustrated. :lmao:
Anyway, he tried negotiating: "What's it gonna take, son? What do I need to do or give you so that you will put your poop in the potty? WHAT IS IT???"
DS4 doesn't understand about negotiating. He just kept saying, "OK, Daddy" and "I would like dat, Daddy." As if it's totally out of his control! :rotfl:

We have so much going on right now.. and I am tired of repeating myself with him. He cant just manhandle his sister whenever he wants, anymore then she can him. Especially when he is supposed to be cleaning his room. I can see reminding him once.. maybe twice.. to clean up. But I am not going to stand over him and make sure its done. We hit our limit today. We do special stuff for him, and he acts like a turd. Ugh... He is hitting his sassy stage, and its just irking me off.
Oy. That is just nutty!! With Alex, it came down to the cookies. If he didnt want daddy to eat them all.. He had to make poo-poo on the potty. :lmao: It was the funniest, and saddest thing I have ever heard. NOOOOOOO DADDDDYYYY!! Dont eat all the cookies!:lmao: :lmao: But he sure did poop!:rotfl2:

So today I found a big box in DS4's closet. I think it's full of the crib bedding and receiving blankets. WOOHOO! :woohoo:
For some reason the bumper guard was on the shelf on top of the closet, but whatever. I'll go through it to make sure everything's there before you get here. :)

Baby A... the boy, is head down, and he is the low one. But generally its not so noticeable. The girl is breech, and there is a definite bulge where her head is. Right under my rib.. But his butt bulge is... gosh.. down by my belly button!

Aren't you fairly tall? Thank goodness! Can you imagine being... like 5 feet tall and carrying twins???
By the way, DS4 is soooo excited to see you! He told DH we were having two babies. DH looked at me all confused, and I said, "I told him the Staleys were going to come over, and we're giving them our baby stuff for their two babies."
DS said, "And I'm going to hug them!" I laughed at the mental picture of him hugging your belly and explained, "Honey, they don't have the babies yet, they're still in their Mama's tummy."
So then he wanted to know all about when he was a baby in my tummy. So excited, it was adorable! :goodvibes

I've finally sunk so low that I'm now on the DIS begging for money. Yep, you heard me right...I need money!
Quarters? Give you quarters? Are you insane woman! Those are precious laundry cleaning devices.
Besides.. no one gave ME money when I asked for it HMMPH:snooty:
well except for Staley :thumbsup2
Sorry! We have no quarters, I use them for laundry.
see.. laundry and quarters-- necessary evil creatures that go together.
. We are replacing them with glass (DD seems to think my cancer was caused by eating off plastic). She refuses to eat or drink from plastic anymore. I'm getting rid of the old plastic anyway, so I figure better safe than sorry and will replace them with glass.
I've been gradually replacing all of my plastics/ tupperware. I use less wraps and ziploc bags too. Better for health and for the health of the world. I keep looking at my local junkie junk store to find kitchenware from the 50's. FireKing, Hazel Atlas glassware.. I get a small thrill using my Fireking casserole ("white glass") and wonder about other housewives that used it in the past. We also have Hazel Atlas coffe cups that I picked up for 50¢ for 6 at a rummage sale.. I look thru various collector web sites and ebay.. only found one site that someone was offering the same pattern for sale. Guess it's not as popular of a style, coolness! Useful and collectible all in one.
OMG! I was just watching The Soup and they were making fun of Jon & Kate. It was the episode where they moved into the house and she was yelling at him for not using a coupon when he went to the store.
I just watched that episode, I'm all for using coupons-- but GEESH I can't imagine yelling at hubby for not using them or not turning over a receipt. Bizzare OCD lady!
I gave my husband a hug... and just started bawling. Why? I dunno. Probably because my belly button looks like a butt.
aww and :lmao: You do realize we are having a blast with your day to day accounts of twin hyena pregnancy. I'm trying to imagine a belly button shaped liek a butt.. hmm interesting. :rotfl:

I hope so.. because he is about 3 inches away from being sold to the gypsies. :rotfl2:

There is no way we can go before Christmas.. But it looks very promising for early next year. Maybe the beginning of March next year. We would prefer to drive.. So we need to make sure that dh has enough vacation time to take a full two weeks. It looks like we could do two rooms at the Hojo, hopefully get a discounted rate. I dont know if getting an AP, or what would be better.. Oh WELL. Plenty of time to work out the details, huh? :lmao: But I am almost positive we will be at the Hojos.. As for an AP or not.. depends on what offers they have next year. There's a debate on the DL thread a few days ago over what is more cost effective.. Deluxe AP or calling to order an 8 day pass.

Funny how life gets in the way of being on the DIS.
Today, did my dishes and tidied up the bathroom. Landlord is coming thru to check for leaks and any repairs. He must have water useage concerns. Hubby told me not to run batch (making dialysate of 60L with hoses running down the hall to the bath faucet) , he will run on bags tonight instead. Don't want to give the landlord any excuse to be snotty about the dialysis equipment. He knows we have it, we told him it would require x amt of water every two days and generate extra bags of trash. But seeing it in person.... well I don't want to give him a chance to sputter about costs. :rolleyes1

When my grandparents managed apartments they used to a monthly walk thru of each apartment. The law said they couldn't come in unless they had a valid repair reason. But my grandmother wanted to make sure that no druggies, flop houses, messy people that attract cockroaches, etc. were in the apartments. So every month they did a "maintenance/repair" thing...one month check all furnaces, next month check door hinges, next month check all pipes under sinks, next month check all window and window screens. They had to give 48 hour notice and could then let themselves in if no one was home. They got rid of a lot of bad tenants before they became big problems that way. The good tenants appreciated it, things were kept in good repair and no problem neighbors.:thumbsup2

Guess where I spent the afternoon?? Oh yeah. The hospital. I was having crazy contractions, and called my Dr. and she said to head on in to the hospital.. So we did, and they hooked me up... I was having more then I realized... They were coming every 3-6 minutes!! Any hoo.. They called my doc, gave me a shot of terbutaline, did fetal fibrosomething test... and checked my cervix. Everything checked out, and here I am. At home. On bed rest. Just modified bedrest... until I am sure my contractions have really stopped.

Do you and your family watch Freestyle MX? Did you hear about Jeremy Lusk? Very sad. :sad1:
Yes, I heard. It was so sad to have his life cut short, but I guess the only good thing was he died doing something that he loved. So very sad for his family.

Glad to hear that they got them stopped. We are not quite ready to be Honorary Aunt Hyenas yet, so just quit contracting!!!
We also had snow last night (just a trace) and a couple of inches this morning. Still have some left, but they plowed the roads. This is more like our typical snow, really wet and doesn't stay around long.:thumbsup2

And I'm seriously craving something sweet. I bought some junk food, but I know that I can't eat anything with sugar in it or I will be up all night with hot flashes. But I'm having this horrible sugar craving...I want that Little Debbie yellow cake with frosting and tons of sugar, preservatives and who knows what else!! ARRGGGHHHH!!!!

Nightmare. Kitchen remodel with Nancy Wren Maddox and Peacock Home Collections has been a miserable experience. For over a year we have been trying to get Maddox to complete the kitchen and bath cabinets and countertops, and the drapes.
Maddox makes promises and assurances of quality and professionalism, but excuses and delays are what you get. She knew we were an easy mark because the same week we started our remodel, my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We thought that Nancy was was going to help us get this project done and paid her handsomely to take the burden off us while we dealt with this personal tragedy. Nancy Maddox had the ability to pray with me and lie to me in the same conversation. Imagine that.
Since we publicized our problems with Maddox on Channel 35 in January, 2009, we have been contacted by previous customers and employees who confirm that this is business as usual for Peacock Home Collections.
I tried to find out about her reputation before hiring Maddox, but didn't find anything of concern on the internet. Now it is my goal to prevent this from happening to anyone else. If she goes out of business before we complete our lawsuit agains her, then we will be out a lot of money, but it is more important to me to protect others from this unfortuante experience. Search Orange County Civil Court records to see the lawsuits of her former clients. Try to find any vendor that will still do business with her.
Then find yourself another decorator. Good Luck.

Good Morning Ladies + Albort + Grumpy Pirate :teeth:
Last night I drove down to DTD. I needed to return something and the forecast called for rain for today thru Sunday. It's all sunny today!  Anyway, while I was almost at DTD, I get a call on my cell phone from our overseas office. They need me to prepare and send them documents for an urgent shipment for one of my customers. :headache: I was in DTD for about 30 minutes and left quickly and drove back to the office. I stayed for about an hour and left around 10pm. I was so hungry and hadn't eaten dinner, so I got KFC and headed home. I was so tired and just showered and fell asleep. :faint:
On the plus side, I got one cupcake from Marceline's, a new Minnie Caramel Apple and 1 celebration marshmallow. :yay: They are really cute and I hope they taste as good as they look.
I still haven't had a chance to upload pics from my digital camera. They are all trapped in there for the time being. :rotfl:
Hope you guys are having a good day. :cutie:
P.S. Here is a pic of my breakfast:

Good morning, all!
After it snowed the past 3 nights (but warmed up during the day so not much accumulation), we have a gorgeously SUNNY day today! Love it!!! :cool1:
Staley-girl, hang in there! And keep those babies hangin' in there, too! :thumbsup2
Sam, did you eat the cake? Or withstand the craving?
Pixster, you ate a Tigger-tail for breakfast? :lmao:
I am off to pick out a 'crafty' type birthday present for a 4yo girl in DS4's class. Apparently she is not into princesses, so I think I'm going to look for something less pink and purple, more animals and nature kind of thing. WIsh me luck! :)

I've had the same problem finding things for my younger nephews. How many cars, airplanes, trucks does one lil boy need? And to further make for head scratching in the toy aisle.. what do I give a 3 yr old that in some ways is more of an 18 month old but knows all of his numbers and letters. And doesn't have any speech.

Just headed back from lunch. Went to Kohl's to spend my Kohl's cash that I got this weekend.:thumbsup2 Bought some new rectangular Pyrex glass storage bowls.
I have been slowly switching out all of the plastic in my kitchen to glass. Plastic eventually gets icky anyway and it seems like they just keep coming out with more and more bad things about plastic. At least I know what's in my glassware...melted sand! DD is starting to refuse to eat or drink out of anything that is plastic. She thinks that maybe it may have contributed to my cancer. Who know's, maybe she is right.:confused3 I have many old glass mixing bowls that belonged to my great grandmother, grandmother and mother and they still look nice. So there's something to be said about glassware.

"The S&M Girls"
"The Neverland Naughties"
"Team Alice in Wonderbras"
"Don't Be Cheekin"
"The Three Mouseketeers"
"The Pixie Chicks"
and here are some of my mom's ideas:
Donald’s Delights
Walt’s Wild Women
River Belle Beauties
Blue Ribbon Babes
Peter Pan’s Posse
Wonderland Women
Matterhorn Mamas
I sent a PM to the other lady on out team but haven't heard anything back yet. :confused3

* "Sure you'll get your figure back ... we'll just search 1985 where you left it."
* "How come you're so much fatter than the other chicks in Lamaze?"
** "Hey, when you're finished puking in there, get me a beer, willya?"
** "I finished the Oreos."
* "Not to imply anything, but I don't think the kid weighs forty pounds."
* "Y'know, looking at her, you'd never guess that Pamela Lee had a baby!!"
* "I sure hope your thighs aren't gonna stay that flabby forever!"
* "Well, couldn't they induce labor ? The 25th is the Super Bowl."
* "Darned if you ain't about five pounds away from a surprise visit from that Richard Simmons fella."
* "Fred at the office passed a stone the size of a pea. Boy, that's gotta hurt."
* "Whoa! For a minute there, I thought I woke up next to Willard Scott!"
* "I'm jealous! Why can't men experience the joy of childbirth?"
* "Are your ankles supposed to look like that?"
* "Get your *own* ice cream."
* "Geez, you're awfully puffy looking today."
* "Got milk?"
* "Maybe we should name the baby after my secretary, Tawney."
* "Man! That rose tattoo on your hip is the size of Madagascar!"
* "Retaining water? Yeah, like the Hoover Dam..."

You would be just like everyone else at WDW...a whole slew of people getting on and off buses with strollers and lots of little kids.:lmao: When I go to WDW with DH we usually rent a car. But if I go by myself with the kids I like to just take the buses. Of course my sister usually comes over and we have her car part of the time.
Actually I think you would really like it...yes, there is a lot to see. But you can go several times and never see or do it all. When I go to DL it is nice, but I never feel like I'm totally removed from the "real" world like I do at WDW.

I could go either way, it's about the same distance.
Flying of course, but I have considered a driving trip to CA again since we know it can be done. Just need to medicate myself into a coma thru Colorado.. eeeeeek!
:rotfl: My only experience with Colorado has been the Denver airport, so I really have no idea what the state is really like.
The next time you get a hankering to do a solo Disney trip you should go to WDW. My sister has an AP and I'm sure she would love to meet you there.:thumbsup2 Of course you know that I would be forced to fly there also.:rotfl2:

Not if you crash at my sister's house. She has 4 bedrooms, only 2 of which are occupied.:thumbsup2 Head on over, you're welcome anytime.
Want to get your kid's attention try this:
DS: Mom, here's an extension cord that I just found under my bed.
Me: Caw Caw (loudly like a crow, flapping arms)
DD: (sitting on couch with a horrified, yet puzzled look on her face).
DS: Uh, Mom?? I said I have this extension cord thing, what do you want me to do with it?
Me: Caw Caw.
DD: What did you say? (with bewildered look on her face).
DS: Taking several steps backwards. Obviously thinking Mom has gone insane. (looking ready to bolt for door).
Me: Laughing hysterically. (with both kids looking very concerned).
Me: I've always wanted to do that! Thanks I'll take the extension cord.
DS & DD: (still staring at me, probably hoping & praying that the insanity isn't genetic or contagious).

I wish I could convince my sis to go on a trip with me, she needs the break from the round of preschool , IEP meetings, doctor appts, therapy sessions, applying for services and the mountian of paperwork to maintain said services.. a crabby husband who likes to spend money-- that they don't have-- teenager and crowd of friends at their house every weekend and of course the demands of young children with all their own unique needs.
Makes my head spin , she's so freakin busy every day.

WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL WEAR PURPLE
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Apparently he hasn't been to Typhoon Lagoon winding his way around the Lazy River in an innertube...only to stop at the next landing to grab a fruity, frozen alcohol drink to sustain him until the next time around.:thumbsup2 Now that is the way to enjoy a theme park.
If I ever make it to WDW, that's where you'll find me, floatin' down the Lazy River with a fruity alcoholic beverage in my hand. Ahhhhhhh! :lovestruc

Okay.. I saw on another thread that you had said the cap for unemployment in Washington was $515 a week.. When we filled out the stuff for Dh's unemployment through his work, so he could get paid the days they miss when they shut the shop down.. He qualified for $541. Is that because he is on a different program? If he lost his job, would we suddenly get less?? not that we get the full amount, right now we only get the amount for one day.. Which is $108. Anyhow.. Do you know? :lmao: Probably not, huh?

Unemployment is one of the stimulus bill items.. so what is true NOW might not be in a few months.. or whenever the bill goes in effect.
I made the mistake of reading a thread on the bill.. some people are scary here on DIS... scary and down right mean spirited.
And then there are people who post not once.. but twice the same piece of rumor grabage of the health information part of the bill. Further spreading lies and rumors not based on the facts.. pot stirrer. :headache:

I need help coming up with a team name for my team for the Ladie's Trip Scavenger Hunt. It's me and my mom with another lady and her daughter. There are some of the other team's names:
"The S&M Girls"
"The Neverland Naughties"
"Team Alice in Wonderbras"
"Don't Be Cheekin"
"The Three Mouseketeers"
"The Pixie Chicks"
and here are some of my mom's ideas:
Donald’s Delights
Walt’s Wild Women
River Belle Beauties
Blue Ribbon Babes
Peter Pan’s Posse
Wonderland Women
Matterhorn Mamas
I sent a PM to the other lady on out team but haven't heard anything back yet. :confused3
Ooh oooh Don't Be Cheekin!! :lmao: :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

I believe they just upped the maximum amount at the first of February. I think the new maximum is now $541 and is possibly supposed to go up to $586.
You can collect for a long time now. The initial time to collect is 6 months worth of maximum. Then when that is used up there is a new federal extension that goes for about 3 more months and I think Congress just approved another extension. So you can collect maximum for about a year now.
If you look at his unemployment stubs it will probably show the amount remaining in his account. That amount should have started out around $12,984 ($541/week for 6 months). But that amount can be replenished with the federal extensions.
I'm not really sure about the program that your DH is doing. But check his stubs and see if it shows an amount remaining in the account. If so, then it probably is coming out of his total 6 month amount. Did that make sense??
I know that DH's 1099 form from the State showed almost $18,000 in unemployment benefits for last year and he collected for 8 months.

Yes, I'm only a bill.
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey

While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill.

We haven't quite figured it out for hubby either. You know how it is for teachers without tenure.. no job is guarenteed for next year.
His district does a bidding system, if someone else with more seniority wants to teach MS science (and is qualified) they can bid for the position and hubby would be out of that job. And need to compete with other low ranking teachers for another position in the district... or drop out and just sub. It stinks! There is talk of doing away with tenure-- at this point I would say YES .. but 5 years from now... I might not like that idea. What can ya do? :confused3
