i delivered ds8 at 37 weeks, and i think ds4 wound up being 39 weeks (they kept changing his due date back and adjusting the planned c-section date to be 37 weeks, but if you count from the lkmc, it was 39 weeks.) :confused3

anyway, they were both 8+ lbs, so i can't imagine having two of those at once, OY! good thing you're young and healthy! :thumbsup2

the thing i thought was funny ... well, maybe funny isn't the right word... is that everyone talked about how uncomfortable that last month is. well, my last month was really just a few weeks since i delivered at 37 weeks, right? but i was dying around week 33! :lmao:

i don't know if it's just that mental checking down that last month (because we knew the delivery date by then) or what. i would have been a blubbering mess if they made me go full term after all!

I know it. Im scared at the thought of going past 36 weeks.. I went to 38 with Mikalah, and 40 with Alex.... I was great with Alex... right up until birth. After I had Mikalah I felt so much relief right after her birth. It was heaven! I about floated to bathroom for my shower. :rotfl2:

My babies weigh 3 and a half pounds EACH!!

As long as everyone is healthy, and such.. WELL. I DONT have to deliver in the operating room, UNLESS they suspect something will go wrong with baby B.

AND I dont have to have an epidural, but they DO suggest it, because a breech extraction can be very.. uncomfortable. :crazy2: Sounds like it!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Two thumbs up for two nice sized aliens.
That's awesome news!

I'm so glad that you can deliver in a regular OB room, I think it would be added stress to be in an OR to deliver.

Breech extraction? Yeah that sounds unpleasant to the ear. :scared:
At least you have had "experience" , docs are more inclined to let things progress naturally when you have had prior births.

My midwife was contemplating a trip to the OR for "placenta removal" after N. Freaked me out and she agreed it's not something she wanted to do. Right after she said it.. things "moved" right along. ewww :crazy2:

I remember it taking awhile with J too, but it was a teaching case that round (family practice resident, midwife, and OB.....plus an OB nurse, and a respose team standing by to suction J due to meconium... it was crowded in my room!)

I know!! Im all aflutter right now. I know things can change quickly, but right now.. Im so happy with where we are and how things are looking.

Yeesh. Placental removal? That sounds as unpleasant as breech extraction. :lmao:

I have never seen a placenta.. and Im good with that. I had a friend that had a baby in Alaska.. In a very rural Native American hospital. She was completely out of it when she had her baby, they asked if she wanted to see the placenta. She said yes. :scared: YUCK! :lmao: Frelan said it was disgusting.. and looked like a big hunk of meat.

On another note.. I talked to my mom today. I think she was trying to talk us into taking a cruise with her. In MAY. :scared: With the whole family!! :confused3 I could have been wrong, but she sure sounded like she wanted us to come.

Had to help hubby finish up treatment, walking back to the bedroom I notice the cat speeding by me.. with a guilty look on her furry face. :scared: Not a good sign!

Yep, I was right.. she had bit the line that was draping across our bed. Comforter is wet from used dialysate. ARGH!:crazy2: yuck!

Hubby is shivering and burning up.. his temp is 100.7 :guilty: Lungs are clear, no cough, no sniffle.. not sure what is going on in his system right now.
His standard order is to head to the hospital if over 101 temp.

For now we will watch and see.. he's taking meds, bundled in a blanket and resting in the recliner. He has one last day with kids this week, Friday is a non student contact day for grading. He does have a clinic visit in the afternoon tomorrow, but I know nephrologists don't like dealing with non kidney illness.

J was sick with some odd tummy bug a week ago, we're thinking it might be that.

But I worry about the salmenella link to peanut butter paste. They keep adding products to the recall list, it started here in MN. :sad2:

Yes... I am. But Im only up a total of what?? 16 pounds so far this pregnancy? Not to shabby. Here is my update from today... If you pop back over to read it!

BIG EXCITING NEWS!!!

Okay. So nothing earth shattering, but I had a GREAT appointment today!!! First off.. Is it any wonder I feel like crap?? My babies weigh 3 and a half pounds EACH!!:cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: That is fantastic!! I already have 7 pounds of baby in my belly. :rotfl2: The doctor is LOVING those weights. She said that by 36 weeks they will EASILY be 6-7 pounds each! I gained NO weight over the past 3 weeks, and the doc was a little concerned, until she measured me. I went from measuring 33 weeks at my last appt. to 39 at this one!!:faint: At this rate, Im going to measure 60 weeks pregnant when the babies come!:rotfl2:

Baby A is still head down, and thankfully, that is the baby with the bigger head! She said that is awesome... they prefer the big headed babies to pave the way. :rotfl2: Baby B is breech again. :sad2: What can I say.. she is a girl, and just cant seem to make up her mind. So we are on track for a vag. delivery!!:cheer2: Who knew something like that would have me SO excited!!

Speaking of delivery. This was probably the highlight of my appt. We discussed delivery, and how it would go.. As long as everyone is healthy, and such.. WELL. I DONT have to deliver in the operating room, UNLESS they suspect something will go wrong with baby B. AND I dont have to have an epidural, but they DO suggest it, because a breech extraction can be very.. uncomfortable. :crazy2: Sounds like it!:rotfl2: Frelan said that sounds like Swat terminology.. Breech extraction. :rotfl2: Im sure that I will get the epi after a bit, But its nice to know they arent going to push it on me!

I am WICKED excited that there is a chance Alex might get to be there when the babies are born! He SO wants that! :cool1: :cool1:

not much going on here. dh and ds8 had basketball practice tonight. took ds4 to gymnastics today; the teacher said he listened well today, but had to chastise a little girl several times. i guess if it ain't one, it's another... :rotfl:

yesterday i took ds8's disposable camera (from our december disneyland trip) to costco for developing, and today i picked it up. out of 39 photos, i think there were about 6 or 7 that didn't have his finger covering 2/3 of the photo... :headache:

he threw out the worst ones, but wanted to keep ones where he could see something in that clear 1/3. :rotfl:

Oh, did you guys hear about some cosmetics lawsuit? :confused3 My sister called me and asked where I was. I told her I was at the mall and she told me to head to Macy's for some free clinique and say I'm hear for the class action lawsuit settlement. I head over to the Clinique counter and had an unpleasant encounter with some wretched woman behind the counter who told me they didn't have anything.

Then I head to Nordstrom and there is a line to enter the store. I wonder what's going on....maybe a famouns designer is there? :confused3 Nope! I see a sign that says that if you are here for the cosmetcis lawsuit to wait in line. The line moved quickly, they had security guards handing out papers with #'s on it. I waited in line for just 2 minutes and then walked into the store to a long table with a bunch of people. They asked me if I want Clinique Moisture On Surge for daytime or some tiny night time cream that may have been Estee Lauder. I got the Clinique and all I had to do was sign my name on a clipboard and that was it. I got it for my mom because she was too busy to go to the mall. Apparently it's at all Macy's and Nordstrom stores and not sure if you can get it from other places as well.

oh! i had a brain flash today. i remembered i was supposed to sign ds8 up for spring baseball soon, but i meant to talk with a neighbor, who coaches one of the teams. i couldn't find the flyer i saved that had info, so i looked all over the house for their phone number (their son is a friend of ds') and finally found it and gave them a call.

he told me the final date for sign-up was tonight. i asked a bunch of questions, then grabbed ds4 and dashed down to the sign-up location. there was a bit of confusion, since the friend's dad had told me to sign up for AA ball, but the guy helping me was telling me i had to sign ds up for A ball. we finally got it all straightened out, thank goodness, and we are most likely going to wind up on the buddy's team with lots of other kids from the same school. sweet!

he's so excited, and it's very cute. :goodvibes

When I left Nordstrom there was a massive line of people waiting outside to get in. I thought it was crazy but it's cool because most people (such as myself) were oblivious to what was going on but they scored free cosmetics.

I'm not sure what the lawsuit is...I need to search but I heard it may have something to do with them selling expired products. :faint: :scared:

i read about this a month or two ago, and that this was how they were going to pay the settlement. basically by signing you are stating that you have bought these products during the timeframe specified in the lawsuit... it's quite a lengthy time, like 7 years... i think it has to do with price fixing, not expired or unsafe products.

The makeup giveaway was for one day right?

Anytime I read of class action lawsuits I check to see if I qualify, the makeup I wouldn't qualify.. but in the past I signed up for lawsuits involving Microsoft , Toyota (they got in trouble for price discrimination when selling to Latinos), Columbia records, and a medication company.

It takes several months for the process to complete, but it's worth the wait.
Money, free product, offers at discounted price.

I guess not many people sign up, cool! More for me! ;)

Has she been able to get anything down today or yesterday?

You said it started Monday right? That's a bit long to still be vomiting.

Check her lips and mouth, dry? pale color?
Check her skin on her arm, pinch it lightly .. does the skin spring back or does it "tent"?

Ok she is still asleep but her mouth is pretty dry, not all the way dry but the tip of her tongue was dry. her lips are dry. She does not have to go to the bathroom she says. When I pinch her arms the skin goes back ok.

Decreased urine is not a good sign... I would call your doc just to be safe. Being sick that long is more than a typical stomach bug, 24 to 48 hours is okay.
Other signs.. weakness, dizzy, not thinking clearly, sunken eyes, no sweat...

Yes, she just drank a few sips of water and her stomach started hurting so bad she bent over in pain. She has not thrown it up yet but yesterday it took about 10-15 minutes. She says its just a dull pain now. :confused3

funnygarcia
01-22-2009, 11:22 AM
She needs to go in..

It could be an intestinal illness (needing antibiotics) or it could even be appendicitis.

N had severe cramps, nausea, low grade fever.. we watched him for a few hours and he didn't get any better.. had his appendix out that night. They were hesitant at first since his fever wasn't very high and his white blood cell count was up but not extremely high. The severe cramps was the deal breaker, he could barely walk.

Doc took the "better safe than sorry" route and away he went to surgery.

It's likely not appendicitis.. it doesn't happen often in children. But the fact that she is in pain, not drinking, decreased urine.. she needs to go in.

Next week my mom's friend is coming over from Taiwan with her daughter. They were the ones that took us to take those fun photos when we were in Taiwan 2 years ago and they also took me around to some cool places.

My family is taking them to Canada for 2 days. They asked if I wanted to go but I said no (too busy at work). I will however take them to DL and DCA so that should be fun. :yay: I can't wait to see Pixie Hollow and the new Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-through.

Sure hope Morgan is ok. DS hasn't been feeling well this week. He was running a fever last night and said his stomach hurt this morning. I think it's just sinus congestion, low grade fever. I took him to work with me today, he just spent most of the day sleeping on the couch, watching movies and reading. Then we went to Sonic to eat lunch...figured that was the best place. We could eat in the car and not expose other's to whatever he has.

So now I'm wondering what the incubation period is...right about the time I'm on vacation??:confused3::yes::

I am worried that they are going to put me a GD diet, and I am going to really start losing weight. As it is, I am taking in as many calories as I can.. milkshakes and all.. and Im not gaining anything. Im still eating healthy stuff.. But I have to supplement somehow, you know. ;) :rotfl2: I eat SO MUCH, Really. Crud. Now I worried about keeping my weight up. the GD diet means cutting out sugar (or things tht the body esily converts to sugr, like bread.) For me it ment eating lot more protein thn i was used to: eggs, cheese, and of course meat.

Alex2kMommy
01-22-2009, 08:52 PM
oh, and also paying attention to when (what time of day) you eat certain kinds of foods. like i used to have a mocha and an english muffin or scone for breakfast, and that was out. i still had a latte (no chocolate), with scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage (protein first thing in the morning!)

hey, the 'A' key is working again. Weird!

geez, the news is on right now. microsoft is laying off 5,000 (most of them from the seattle area), boeing 3,500, and wamu 3,000. good lord, that's a lot of folks in the area all at once!

my dad was part of the big boeing layoff in 1970 (the one where they posted a billboard in seattle: will the last person to leave please turn out the lights?) we wound up leaving the area for 4+ years.

yeah, the really sad part is that her dh is seriously ill, he has several major illnesses going on, lots of doctor visits and medications. they were trying to get him healthy and stable enough for surgery he needs to remove deadly tissue. she is the family's breadwinner, and they have two young children. my heart breaks for them.

DH got a letter today from the unemployment office demanding $1,800 saying they had overpaid him. They are claiming that he collected unemployment benefits in November while working for Burlington Northern.

IDIOTS!!! He didn't start working for BNSF until December 1. We called and set them straight. Still, I will have to mail and fax a letter also because they always seem to mess things up. The lady I spoke with said they would correct their records, but I still imagine this is going to be a governmental nightmare!

It doesn't matter that they have a letter on file of his employment offer from BNSF "saying Start Date December 1"! Guess that would be to easy to figure out.

That's too bad. Hopefully she can find something soon. But the reality is the job market is pretty bleak right now. This afternoon on the radio they were commenting "where is rush hour"? Seems so many people are laid off around here that there are hardly backups during rush hour. Even the places that normally have really major backups are just experiencing minor ones.

Almost all of our insurance is thru Safeco, except for DH's Harley. It's thru Progressive. We got a letter from them today saying that they understand we are in an area that may have experienced bad weather, along with flooding, in addition to a poor economy. They wanted to let us know if we are having problems making our upcoming insurance payment for the motorcycle to please call and speak with them. They can arrange for delayed payments or to spread them out in installments. I'm guessing a lot of people must be cancelling their unnecessary insurance, so they are trying to work with them rather than completely lose their business.

It was a nice gesture, but of course it showed up two days after I paid the bill!:lmao:

Hmmm...

ds4 was flushed and his ears were bright red this afternoon. i asked if he was feeling OK and he said yes, and I felt his forehead, and it felt fine. his behavior seemed fine except that he was very snuggly, which has been the case for the past several days.

he asked several times if we could go get his brother from school, but it wasn't time. finally when it was time, he didn't want to go and began to whine and carry on. :confused3

we got to the school and he seemed his fine (bouncy, wound-up) self. we picked up ds8 and came home, they played a bit, then ds4 came to snuggle with me and watch TV while I was on the computer. he snuggled under the blanket. after a bit i asked ds8 if ds4's eyes were open, and he said no. he fell asleep around 4:00.

dh called shortly after that, and he said to just let him sleep, figuring he's either overtired from school and giving up naps, or he's coming down with something. i tried waking him at 5:30, but he wouldn't wake, he was too deeply asleep.

he finally woke before dinner, but wasn't interested in eating. he said his head hurt, so we gave him some motrin. after awhile he perked up and was his usual busy self, and wanted something to eat.

soooooo... i'm thinking that, even though his temp is fine, he's got a bug, and who knows if he'll be going to school tomorrow. :(

'tis the season, huh?

my parents paid for my sister and me to take piano lessons when we were kids. they were taught by a little old lady, and they were terribly boring, and we hated going. we sucked it up for 3 years, and then couldnt' take it anymore. we nagged my mom about quitting until she finally said, "Fine, but you will regret this for the rest of your life. And YOU have to go in and tell her!"

So we went up to her house, knocked on the door, and my sister just stood there beaming, waiting for me to talk. So I started to explain about how sorry i was, but we wanted to quit lessons. my sister then said a cheery, "Bye!" and ran back to the car, leaving me on the doorstep. the teacher was very nice about it, said she was sad we weren't continuing but she understood.

i needed an extra few credits in college one quarter, and thought it would be fun to take a beginning piano class. my mom gasped and said, "Don't you wish you had never quit?" I laughed and said, "NO WAY! i hated those lessons!" :rotfl2:

after ds4 watched totoro again this week (and I saw a bit more of it than i had before) i watched some sneak peek or something, other movies by the same director. an american director described them as the greatest animation movies ever, and i would love to see them all. i'm going to see if i can find them to rent, or maybe to buy if it looks like something appropriate for the boys and that they'd like.

ds4 still LOVES totoro!

He was a bit bitter about it too because my older sister was in SD and quit and my brother quit and then I quit. He is old and he kept nodding off during my lessons. I just figured that I have already been playing for so long and I just want to teach myself new songs. Plus his lessons were so early in the morning and I couldn't wake up.

mmm, sounds like you had a yummy culinary adventure and some fun shopping too!
We have Kiki's, Spirited Away and Totoro. I haven't had a chance to pick up Howl's Moving Castle but we loved it so much we rented it twice (redbox) !

And yeah.. Spirited and Howl's has a different feel than the other titles.. beautiful animation but some odd things happen in the storylines that might be scary for young preschoolers.. 8 and up should be okay.

The boys rented Castle in the Sky but I didn't like it as much.
Still haven't watched Princess Mononoke or Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind .. we will some day.

We have this cool Japanese import store in a local mall. They sell a bunch of the toys and collectibles from popular anime and video games.
We go to drool but rarely make a purchase. :upsidedow They had Kingdom Hearts cell charms .. bought two .. went back and they were all GONE.. wahhhh. I haven't been able to find the rest of the characters. I have Donald Duck and E has Sora, kicking oursleves for not buying the rest of the set. (Pricey on Ebay)

Mall of America has a huge Sanrio store, but I know it's not the same. The imports are made much better.

ohhhh yeah, I read on Slick Deals that Target has a Hello Kitty alarm clock on markdown.. read it and immediately thought of you Pix :goodvibes

:yay: I have Meet The Yamadas, Howl's Moving Castle, Totoro, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns and I think my bf bought Princess Mononoke.

I saw the Hello Kitty alarm clock at Target. :rotfl: I didn't buy it though. I went to a store yesterday and got a Japan exclusive Hello Kitty Plush keychain. It's pink and Hello Kitty is in a pink fluffy bunny suit I think and holding a pink ball of yarn. I also got a rhinestone Hello Kitty sticker and now my cell phone has a giant hello kitty face on the back (I'll take a pic later). I also put some on my cell phone case. :goodvibes

I've been Hello Kitty crazy lately. I'm not sure why. I got a Jap magazine and inside was a free pink hello kitty compact mirror. :yay: I was so excited when I found it. :rotfl2:

We have a Japanese store in the mall too. They have a couple of those imported photo machines and sticker machines. Those are really fun and I loved them in Taiwan. They also sell Totoro, Domokun, etc. It's really cute stuff. They sell manga and anime too.

We had teenagers over today (my DN and his friend), my sister's middle son (with autism) asked to come too, surprised me , decided heck why not? He's much calmer than when he was a preschooler and broke some of my water globes.
He was just fine playing video games, Knex and other toys in the boys' room.
His mom warned him to leave our cat alone, his lil brother got scratched last time. DN didn't listen... kept following the cat, cornered her while she was hissing and crying. Told him several times to leave her alone.

"But I just want to PET HER!" stomp stomp frown

Too bad because she doesn't want to be petted. Go Play!

Poly went and hid.. but popped out again a few minutes later. :rolleyes2 Glutton for punishment??

Again DN is trying to pet her.. mew, cry, hiss, cry...

Finally DH yells I TOLD YOU leave her alone! .. of course DN is "stuck " on the idea and decides to argue back.
oh boy

No arguing allowed young man - push him out the door and back to playing. Cat is now trapped in bedroom.. ahhh peace in the house yet again. :p

Told my sis that he got yelled at :scared:

She said Good! I told him to leave the cat alone. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :thumbsup2

DS4 woke up early this morning and crawled into bed with me. He said his head hurt, and he seemed to be cold, so I snuggled with him a bit, then got up to get him some Motrin. He wound up spilling most (maybe all?) of the medicine on the bed.

While I was emailing DH about DS not feeling well, ds4 ran into DS8's bedroom and flicked on the light, trying to wake him. DS8 wasn't feeling well (headache and sore throat), stumbled out to me all whimpery, so I sent him off to go potty, got him some Motrin, and sent him back to bed. I updated my email to DH.

They were both pretty quiet this morning (not a bad thing, just kind of a sad deviation from their usual behavior, clearly they were not feeling well at all) and gave DS4 some more Motrin.

I fed them some lunch (both ate pretty well considering), and DS4 fell asleep in my lap. He felt a bit warm, so I put him to bed. DH was calling every few hours to check on the boys. DS8 and I watched Star Wars IV. When I checked on DS4, he woke, so I gave him some more Motrin and took his temp: 103.3!

DH had a late meeting tonight, then went to dinner with friends and had planned to play a bit of poker afterward. He called every few hours, but was so worried that he couldn't eat dinner; he called afterward to say he was skipping poker and was on his way home. He called again just after exiting the freeway, asking if he should stop at the store and pick up more medication. He went to the grocery store for more Motrin as well as Tylenol, which we were totally out of.

By the time I got back downstairs from checking the medication volume, Ds4was happily munching on honey-nut cheerios and playing with DS8, as if he hadn't just spent the entire day imitating a wet noodle!

About half an hour ago he was actually hyper, it was kinda scary! :lmao:

But he's calm now and still happy and alert. Thank goodness for good drugs! :thumbsup2

Hi Ladies,

Went to work this morning and going in for a bit tomorrow also. Need to get everything done before Wednesday. I just packed my suitcase!!! Easy to pack early, since it's mainly warm weather clothes that aren't really in use right now.

The new alternator that I got on my car this summer went out. So I need to return it to the auto parts store tomorrow and get a new one. Might snow here tomorrow. :sad2:

I just got back from Taco Time. DS4 is still feverish, so I gave him a round of Motrin about an hour ago. He still feels warm but has perked up a bit and asked for a Taco Time taco.

So DS4 and I went through the drive-thru and brought food home for him and his brother. (I'm not feeling that great, so didn't get anything...) :headache:

So, another rockin' Saturday night in the Alex2k house. :surfweb:

Just an observation...

Went to our closest mall, it was BUSY! crazy busy and people were buying, not just walking around the mall.

Maybe people are feeling better about the economy :) or they are just hounding out all the good deals :p

Such a GINORMOUS change from our last mall adventure a few weeks ago (BEFORE Obama took office) , that weekend the mall was DEAD dead dead.

Which begs the question: Are people feeling better because of the change in presidency? Hopeful for the future with the promises made of the economic stimulus package.

Interesting.

http://i41.tinypic.com/34ovluc.gif Good Afternoon Hyenas! Wow, our thread has been quiet!

Yesterday my bf and I watched Inkheart. It was really good and I liked it. :thumbsup2 It's mainly for ages 12 and up and may be scary for young children. Afterwards we grabbed a late lunch/dinner at Red Lobster. I tried their new woodfire shrimp, scallops and lobster tail. It was really good. Everything was grilled on a skewer and tasted delicious. :goodvibes

Today we are heading out to Fry's Electronics and maybe the mall (I need to exchange something). Not sure what else we are doing but tonight we are having a family dinner at my parents house for Chinese New Year. My bro couldn't make it down (due to his school schedule) but my older sister drove down from SD. Today is Chinese New Year's Eve and tomorrow is Chinese New Year. http://i39.tinypic.com/20jfkaf.png
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It finally stopped raining and is sunny out but still in the 60's. It should be a lovely day :goodvibes

You guys wouldnt believe how much crap we had stored in our closets and stuff.. GEEZ. So far we have 3 or 4 bags for the goodwill, and quite a few that were rubbish. Not just from our closets.. but from all the stuff we have gone through so far. We are doing a massive overhaul on the place. That way when we move, there isnt so much crap. De-cluttering! Our place is starting to look more spacious.

Im sure im not making much sense... but I have been up since three this morning. It seems to be my new time to wake up.. But yesterday I was up at 1am. Lucky me! Who needs sleep, its totally over rated!:rotfl2:

This is NOT a good sign, I repeat NOT a good sign! It's exactly what I did a few days before my kids were born! Quit nesting right now, go sit down on the couch and do not clean one more thing. It's the only way to keep those babies put for a couple more months.
