Hi! Welcome to the thread :goodvibes That's cool that you love jelly beans. My co-workers bought a box from the 99 cent store called Belly Flops. They are made by Jelly Belly and consist of the irregular/deformed jelly beans. They said it tasted good. :)
[
[/COLOR]
Yummy! That is a great price for those jelly beans! I buy mine at Costco. I wait for the Costco coupon booklet and then I stock up! LOL:banana: This last time, they had individual packets of Jelly Bellys, but I couldn't find them so I just bought the jars. I was thinking to myself that those would be great to take on a trip...(DL):thumbsup2

Hi girlies and Welcome to all the newcomers.
I have a yoga/pilates/tai chi class in an hour, I have no idea what it's going to be like. I can do yoga, I hate pilates and I've never tried tai chi it should certainly make for an interesting hour at any rate.
I accidentally left my lock at the gym yesterday so hopefully someone turned it in so I can have it back. I'm borrowing dh's lock for the day but I miss mine :sad1:
Also, my sister is coming to visit me!!! She's in Egypt this week and next Tuesday she's coming to my house for the whole month of May. We fight a lot but I'm still excited :lmao:
If I don't see any of you later, have a great day!
I can't wait to read about your exercise class!
Hope you have a great time when your sister visits. I bet the time will fly by.

I like the tea and mug idea from world market! :thumbsup2
I have nothing to offer, its too early! :lmao:I'm heading out for a jog to clear the mind. Had a horrible night at cheer. Morgan now thinks she is FAT. She is a flier and she has new bases that could not lift her this year. Well, the bases are not trained right thats the problem not that my 8 year old is FAT. OMG! My daughter is underweight not overweight. I'm so irritated. I miss her old coach so much. This never would have happened under her. I told Morgan we will do the next 2 classes and the competition but we will quit after that if she wants. She said she didnt want to but she hates the coach so we might look elsewhere. I'll be checking out coaches at the competition this weekend. ugh. I actually told her that we could just quit now but she said she didnt want to leave the girls without their flier for competition. After they called her heavy she wants to go and support them. I hope they appreciate that but I doubt it.
OK 5:45 am rant over. I need to jog to get this out of my head.
Random thought: Why is my dog making human like noises?
Love the name Morgan! I have a beautiful niece with that name. Sorry to read your daughter is getting called fat. That isn't right. Wishing you the best of luck finding a new coach.
Kudos to you for getting up and jogging...I do it too, but only in my mind so far...:thumbsup2 It's a start! LOL
I know why my dog makes a human like noise....he occasionally passes gas! :scared1: The kids thought it was the funniest thing!:rotfl2:

Welcome aboard!!:goodvibes
To the rest of you ladies who know me..................yes I have been MIA! :rolleyes1
Sorry, I'm trying to keep up on all of you!!
I had a wonderful visit to DL last weekend. I ended up going 2 1/2 days, so it was nice and not too rushed. Sunday, I basically just watched my grandsons having fun. I enjoyed that so much. Saw some of DIS ladies running around doing the Mouse Adventure contest. That looked like a blast!
So what is new with all of you?
Melody:flower3:
Sounds like your trip to DL was a great! What is the Mouse Adventure contest? Is there a thread or site you can direct me to so I may read up on it? :surfweb:

The Mouse Adventure contest is sponsered by the Mouse Planet website. It is combination of a scavenger, puzzle and trivia questionaire that you do at DL against other teams. It is suppose to be pretty challenging from what I have heard. It does sound like fun, even if you don't win. :goodvibes

Oh boy.. J has dragged us into being Marching Band parents
Don't get me wrong.. I'm happy that he wants to participate in something but uhhh E and I are just uhhh not the most active school parent type people. :rolleyes1
Marching band.. a very good marching band.. it's expected to be VERY involved in the band boosters.
Fee $$$$, rehearsal and parade schedule, parent meetings, fundraiser expectations, supplies, band camp, competition in Missouri ...
Making us feel a tad dizzy :faint:
The most he has done was Jr ROTC last year, free and during the school day.
And Math Team this year, after school and a handful of competitions.

Poly has gone looney.
She is running back and forth in the hallway. Then she launched herself across the couch, ran and slid along the kitchen floor. Made a mad crashing leap into the windowsill, off the kitchen table. Spooks herself at her own reflection in the window. Takes a flying leap off the table.. slides on the linoleum and back to scramble in the hall.
Earlier she jumped at the blinds in the kitchen window, thump whack and scampers away. Leaving the blinds hanging at an odd angle.
:sad2:

Actually.. it might be a perfect time considering the big push to improve our schools. :thumbsup2
Depending on your teaching focus, you can qualify for loan forgiveness programs. There are programs to internship with a district and you are guarenteed a position at the end of your training. :thumbsup2 Kinda wish these programs were in place for E, the internship program would have been nice. That's a bummer.
We have some schools closing around the metro area, consolidating and changing district boundaries. Losing a few positions that way but not a HUGE number of layoffs. State has been working very hard to not cut school funding budgets, but they aren't getting any increased funding either. It's a very delicate balance..

I love it! Dizzy, I hate to tell you this but the girl is 4'8 1/2" tall now! How tall are you? Her dance teacher is only 4'11" and fears by Christmas Morgan will be as tall as she is!
So she is 4' 8 1/2 inches tall and only weighs 65lbs. 65lbs!!!!! What are those girls thinking??? There is no way she is overweight. Like I said she needs to gain a few lbs! Actually the problem stems more from them being new to cheer and cant lift her up since they have not been trained but they dont want to admit they cant do anything so they call her heavy. They are 12 year olds! UGH!
I think we are done and are concentrating on dance from now on where she feels happy and proud of herself. Yes, we've encountered some crazy, mean people at competitions (dizzy, you know exactly who I'm talking about or at least from what studios) but she can deal with that since she is starting to "hang" at their level. The cheer thing is just ridiculous.

Howdy Hyenas! And a big Howdy to all of our new people.:goodvibes
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. We had our bi-annual managers meeting this week, so I've been beyond busy at work. Then when I get home I've been cleaning out every single inch of our house for the garage sale. We are all done with the inside, now on to the garage, travel trailer and back porch....I've been working my butt off the last week or so. Fell into bed exhausted last night.
I was having bad pains in my abdomen area and was so tired I could barely stay awake. I know the doctors said 5-10 years to fully regain my strength, but sheesh, it's been 2 years since chemo and as everybody knows I don't listen to figures of authority anyway.:rotfl2: So I'm taking tonight off from my spring cleaning quest.
DD is going to help me price and set up the garage sale (so she will get 25% of the proceeds). DS wants money to buy a new Ipod Touch, so he has been helping me go thru the house, haul stuff out and will also help me run the garage sale (so he will get the other 75%). DD being a self conscious teenager doesn't want to be (gulp) SEEN having a garage sale. DS gets more money because he's going to do the bulk of the work.:thumbsup2
Not sure when we are going to have the garage sale. I'm thinking Saturday, May 9th. Just a one day only sale and the rest we will haul off to the Goodwill. I know that's Mother's Day weekend, but we're doing it on Saturday only. But I guess it depends on what Mother Nature has in store for weather.

STATEMENT REGARDING SWINE INFLUENZA
Miami - April 29th 5:00 PM
We have decided to cancel all calls at Mexican ports for all current sailings and all voyages departing on Thursday, April 30th through Monday, May 4th. In many cases, we will be able to substitute the cancelled call with an alternative port. Additionally, we are working on alternatives for those itineraries impacted by this decision. Please check back periodically for the latest information. In the unlikely event that our new itinerary options are not to your liking, we will also give you the opportunity to reschedule your cruise at a later date. Those details will also be made available tomorrow.
Our primary concern is your safety. We will continue to monitor the situation and will keep you updated if and when changes are made.
Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you aboard your "Fun Ship" cruise.

OK, I am a little annoyed right now. I had to get an extension on my photo assignment (it's a multi-source collage) and I needed to scan in one last piece today in my class before I could print and turn it in today and of course class is cancelled. Again. Grr. We've had a lot of cancelled classes lately, which I get, there's some family issues going on. But I'm really bummed that I may not be able to turn it in now. Or at least I can email it to her without the print, but I have to have that scanned part in. Plus I wanted to go over my photos for our final project. :headache:

Physical Therapy Assistant is one of my "highly possible" to pursue this fall, I considered just going for the therapist degree but the idea of 6 + years of school would make me uhhhhhhhhhhh halfway to 50  by the time I graduate...
Shorter time commitment would be the better choice for me. :lmao:
E's just a teensy bit concerned with the whole swine flu thing.. mostly because if they get even a probable case at his school.. it means a closure for a few days. Which begs the question... do you get paid if the health dept closes your school? :confused3 I have no clue and would need to read the 50 page volume that is his contract to figure it out.
They closed two schools in a small city here in MN, for a "probable" case. That city is less than 2 hours away from here...

yea they closed one school in AZ cause there is one case so its kinda scary cause I think the kid got it from spring break and is now just showing signs?? which is kinda scary if ti can lay dormant but I didnt pay close attention to the whole thing so not sure if what I said is true. but still kinda scary

Good Morning Everyone,
I had my eye on a Juicy watch for a long time....I finally caved and bought it yesterday with a gift card I had. It's hot pink and really cute. :goodvibes
Tomorrow is my boyfriend's birthday...he's going to be 30! :faint: I will be 29 in July which means I'm not far behind! :faint: This Saturday I'm picking up the cake I ordered for him. It's royal blue fondant with white fondant bows on it. The inside is vanilla cake with vanilla cream cheese mousse with strawberries. One of their chefs called me the other day and made suggestions for the filling. I originally chose vanilla buttercream. I hope it tastes good. :) My bf's family is throwing a bbq on Sunday to celebrate his b-day along with his cousin's daughter's birthday. I still need to wrap her gift or think of a creative way to wrap it. I got her a bunch of beach stuff from Victoria's Secret Pink collection. I was thinking of buying a plastic beach bucket and wrapping it. :confused3
I hope you all have a great day. :cheer2:

I was wondering about your cruise when I heard that on the news. Better safe than sorry though. :thumbsup2

Glad that the formula checks could tide you over and now WIC ready to go. Formula is insanely expensive, I never really knew how much because we did WIC with J and then BF only for Noah. I glanced at prices the other day at Target-- holy moley!
I've read on couponing boards, you can ask your ped for formula samples at each visit. Chances are they have a bunch in stock or at least the checks to use.
It's amazing how fast they grow...:cutie:
And then we have my sister's Lil guy  28 pounds and 3 yrs old, just a teeny tiny stick boy. Morning ladies!!
Sorry I missed out yesterday. I was gone all the day from morning till last night.
Today, I'm sewing up some more aprons for my Sisters to give them, when we meet up for our annual trip with my Mom. We are going to DL and staying at the Grand baby!! Which will be perfect for my Mom. She will love just sitting in the lobby and people watching!
Hope all is well, and have a great day!

Cute new siggie Pix.:thumbsup2 One of these days I'll maybe watch that show and see what everyone is raving about. or maybe not.:lmao:
We have been considering getting rid of our satellite tv. As much as we enjoy the programming, it kinda gets in the way of life. Thinking about just going back to good ol' rabbit ears...oh and converter boxes.:thumbsup2 Don't know, just something we are thinking about.
SO...I get a call yesterday from DH and he is cracking up and I can hear a high pitched machine whine in the background. We have a neighbor, kind of keeps to himself most of the time, but very nice man. His property is sort of overgrown. But the last month or so he's been out weed eating, etc. He collects train memorabillia and by that I mean pieces of real trains!!!! He actually works/runs an old historic steam engine train nearby. Anyway he has piles of old train wheels, you name it. Well over the years blackberries and brush have taken over all of his "treasures". Not to mention that he has lots of other crap.
Anyway, he and a friend decide to dismantle a boat that he recently uncovered. THEY USED A CHAIN SAW TO CUT THE BOAT INTO PIECES! Not a sawzall or a chop saw, but a chain saw. DH watched them for the entire day. They were wearing hard hats, goggles, orange protective gear and cut up a 20 foot fiberglass boat with a chain saw. DH was very tempted to go down and give them the proper tool for the job, but was just having too much fun watching them.:lmao:
Then even more funny, they decide to move a small log. Now honestly, DH says he could have picked the end up and moved it by himself...so what do they do??
tie a tow rope to a truck and pull it?
two strapping men pick it up and move it?
NOPE! They bring out a furniture moving dolly and use it to move the log!:lmao::lmao:
Our weather is supposed to be nice again today, so DH is eagerly awaiting installment #2!:lmao:

Good Morning!!! Sorry I haven't been on the last couple of days - we had the owner, vice president and supervisor at the store yesterday - so I have been stressing to make everything perfect. Good news is both DH and I had a great visit so no issues. It was actually very laid back - all three were in a great mood so it was fun having them in the store. At one point they actually discussed (jokingly) turning the store into a 70's theme, and in an effort to help sales, offer a joint free with every combo meal :hippie:. Of course then one realized that we should offer that first, and then let the customer order 15 minutes later :hippie:. It was funny to see 3 of the most important people in the company have this discussion on my front counter :rotfl2:

TGIF ladies!! I don't have anything exciting to tell you other than I have a pimple that looks like mouth herpes. I was using this new lip balm and kept putting on too much because my lips were so dry, so it would smear into the corner of my mouth onto my face. It didn't take long before I got a pimple there, so I started to pick it and it spread into four little itty bumps but the redness makes them look like I have some kind of nasty infection :rotfl2:

Eek! Sorry to hear about your pimple and the infection. :flower3: That sucks :( If I get a pimple I use Neutrogena Rapid Clear Gel. It's a tiny tube and it is supposed to reduce the size of the pimple within 8 hrs or less. I also have a tube called S.O.S. Emergency Cream by the brand Elemis. It's a skin care line that is from England and they sell it in Nordstrom. I use it sometimes since it's good for sensitive skin. :)
I just came back from the dermatologist. I have a small spot on my right "chesticle" that has been itching and is dry/peeling. I put Eucerin lotion and it doesn't help much. The doctor said it is a small eczema! She said it's nothing to be worried about and she gave me some prescription cream to use (she said there is no need to get it from the pharmacy). She gave m a couple of tubes and said to come back in 2 weeks to check the progress. Hopefully it goes away.

I alwys thought that was odd at the theater in Moreno Valley too. No one used the kiosks. :confused3
We don't have those here in MN. Only the fandango machines where it prints it out from buying it online. It costs extra.
When we lived in St Cloud, small college town, it was a pain to go to the movies. They would accept checks and cash only.. no credit/bank cards. Hardly anyone accepts checks anymore.. it was weird! I don't even have any checks, never bothered to pay for printing them. Online billing is much easier!
My mom had her checkbook and wallet stolen out of her purse ... distracted by a lady while her partner made the grab. She was so mad and frustrated with the police for not doing anything.
Meanwhile I'm like .. mom why do you have your purse in the shopping basket, open and your entire checkbook, social security card, credit cards, ID.. all of it within reach of others? :confused3
She didn't get it, she went on to how she won't trust any young persons trying to scam her.. but mom... why??? why??? :rolleyes1

Goodly Morning Hyenas! Another partially rainy day here...followed by a week of rainy days. Bleech! But at least this time of the year it's 60-65 and rainy, not 45 and rainy.
Last week on my garage sale/thrift center adventure I got a book of bread machine recipes. Lots of tasty looking recipes so I'm going to give a couple of them a try today. They have regular bread, french, even sourdough (but I need to make a sourdough starter ahead of time), as well as some good dessert breads and even a recipe for bagel dough. Might even bake some cookies also.
Then we are going to finish cleaning up garage, trailer, back porch and get all the garage sale stuff together. Work on making signage, pricing things, etc.
So I guess this weekend is my domestic diva weekend.:thumbsup2

Don't worry about things, I'm sure you're a good employee and just go with the flow. Don't worry about things that you have no control over. All we can do in life is our best and that's that! Fear of the unknown is always usually worse than the reality. Hang in there!:thumbsup2

Got everything priced for the garage sale and taken down to my neighbor's shop. We are doing it at her shop across the road from our house, since we have such a steep/non-car friendly driveway.
Spent all morning pricing items and then spent all afternoon getting the trailer cleaned out for beginning of camping season. Woo Hoo! Got our first camping trip planned for weekend after next (weather permitting of course). :cool1:
Going to work on cleaning off the back porch today. Uggh!

On another note, is it normal for 3 week old babies to be really skinny? My friend's new baby has super skinny arms, I'm used to seeing fat babies. Even dh said to me the baby didn't look healthy it's arms are so skinny. So is it normal? I've seen the mum feed the baby so I know she's not starving.

Good morning all! DBF and I went down to Long Beach yesterday. The weather was so nice. We still have our fingers crossed for the cruise. So far they have changed the ports of call for cruises thru the 11th and ours leaves on the 14th. We really don't want to go to Catalina. If they do change ours we will most likely reschedule for later in the year, but I read online that Mexico is re-opening business on Wednesday because the Swine Flu threat is receding.
My bf and I finally watched Fast and the Furious last weekend. It was okay but my favorite is still Tokyo Drift. :woohoo: We were hesitant to watch this 4th one but it was alright.
I though part 4 was also just ok. And Tokyo Drift is my fav too. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone,
I hope you all had a good weekend. :cutie: On Saturday my bf and I picked up his b-day cake. The party was on Sunday but the bakery is closed on Sundays. Oh my goodness....the cake was BEAUTIFUL and looked so pretty. It was also really really heavy. The bakery did an awesome job. I will post pics for you guys to see later. :) It tasted heavenly, honestly, best cake I've ever tasted! :goodvibes It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and it was perfect. :thumbsup2
On Saturday afternoon my mom called me and asked if I could pick up my little sister from her art class. My bf and I picked her up and then we went out for Korean BBQ. It was really really good. Then we headed back to my house where we played Smarty Pants on the Wii.
My bf got called into work. Normally he is off on weekends but one of their facilities in northern CA closed down. All their orders were transferred to my bf's work. Apparently they receive at least 1,000 orders a day! :faint:
His supervisor loused up the schedule and they didn't have enough workers. She took a 2 week vacation to Hawaii. :sad2: Nice huh? Louse up the schedule and then take off to another state. :sad2: :sad2: My bf was super stressed out on Friday (the day of his b-day). Then to have to go back into work on his day off made him stressed out even more. He worked from 5:30pm to almost 10:30pm. They wanted him to go in again yesterday but he said no.
Sunday we watched the new XMen movie. It was really awesome and we both liked it. :thumbsup2 Hugh Jackman is HOT! :lovestruc:love:
We grabbed a small lunch on the way home and then left later in the evening to his family get-together. There were people there whom we didn't know and we were also told the wrong time to show up. :sad2: We showed up an hour after everyone else and they all had already eaten. It wasn't too big of a deal but it just wasn't well planned I guess. We also had trouble getting into his cousin's apartment because no one was answering their cell phones. He called his uncle and his mom and none of them answered. After several phone call attempts, his cousin's husband finally called him back. Other than that, the food was good and we had a great time. I'll post some pics later. :)
Hope you all have a great day! :goodvibes

Good morning everyone!! My sister comes tomorrow!!
I'm a little freaked out though, she's going to be at three airports in one day and with swine flu going around I'm really hoping she doesn't bring anything here. Have any advice for me short of kicking her out?

I don't blame you for being scared of the swine flu. I went to Target and Walmart and they were completely sold out of hand sanitizer. It was insane and I've never seen those cleared out. I was able to find some at Walgreen's without any trouble but they didn't have a lot out. I keep one bottle on my desk at work and one in my car and purse.
I'm not sure how you can cut your sister's visit short. :rotfl: My siblings and I can't be around each other for too long or else we'll go nuts! :rotfl2: I hope you do have fun with her though.

Well, they have officially changed our port of call to Catalina. I think we are going to end up going anyway...we got such a good price for this one and if we wait until summer the prices will be almost double so we will probably just go next week and then start saving and go again in the fall. Plus my SIL and her husband still plan to go because it's not very often that they can pawn off all 5 of their kids at the same time :rotfl2: so they don't think they'll get the opportunity again.

Yep, especially the first few weeks some babies are very skinny. After a few months we fatten em right up.:lmao:
Honestly, we've priced things really cheap for this sale. This was just a truck load full of stuff I was going to take to the Goodwill anyway. If anybody gives us any offer on anything, we'll take it. I have a few nicer things priced at $5-$20, but I have tons of stuff priced at five cents, 10 cents, books are 50 cent, shirts 50 - 75 cents, pants & jeans $1-$2. It's priced so unbelievably low I would be surprised if we have anything left.:rotfl2: Whatever is left over is going into the back of my SUV and straight to the Goodwill.

My advice...enjoy your visit and don't worry about the swine flu. There are what, 300,000,000 in the US and less than 100 have come down with the swine flu. I'd say the odds are in your favor.:thumbsup2

Sunday evening was the party celebrating my bf's b-day and his cousin's daugther's birthday. I wasn't sure what to get her (she turned 16). I bought a tote bag, flip flops, lotion and a water bottle from Victoria's Secret Pink Collection. I also added some flavored chapstick. I was thinking of how to wrap the gift, so I found an large inexpensive plastic beach bucket from Walmart, bought a cellophane bag and wrapped it. Here's what it looked like:

Good Morning everyone! Its an oddly cloudly day here although its going to be near 100. I feel like its Disneyland being overcast and clear in the morning. Just wish I was really there. I could use an escape now!
Yesterday was a rough day. Paradise just keeps messing with us. UGH. We've been denied unemployment based on how they wrote up his dismissal. They put it was a mutual/voluntary leave which is good for getting another job but bad if we need unemployment or insurance help right now. We decided to write the company for severance yesterday and not 4 hours after we sent the email off he gets an email stating his bonus was recalculated and it came up different so he will be getting only $200. This is almost $1000 LESS than we were told the day he was let go. Coincidence it just happened on the day we sent the letter? UGH. Still have not heard any response to the severance yet. We are honestly waiting til we get a response on the severance request before we question that bonus amount.
Yesterday I just woke up with a sick feeling bad things were going to happen all day. Luckily today I dont have that feeling. It will be better.
On top of all that Jake is still feeling terrible. Not sure why his cough wont go away. I'm thinking it has to be allergies. He's on zyrtec for kids but it has not helped in the week he has been taking it. We'll finish out the box and then try another brand.
Ok venting over.
Hope everyone has a great

Aw Shawna that really sucks. It sure seems like life kicks you when you're down. When one thing goes wrong everything else goes wrong, but the good news is that it doesn't last forever.
I am so wore out from running around all day, maybe doing a tai-chi/pilates/yoga class first thing in the morning is NOT a good idea. I'm so tired I can't move, I'm starving and my kitchen is a mess. I can't clean because I can't move and I can't cook because my kitchen is a mess. Boo.

Pixter, that cake came out really nice! :thumbsup2 And that's good that it tasted good too.
I'm trying to come up with a sign or some sort of decorations for our door on the cruise ship. There is still 6 of us going and I want to decorate all three of our doors. It's DBF and I, DBF's sister and her husband and DBF's grandma and grandma's sister. This is the first time that the rest of them have been on a cruise. I was thinking or ordering the room decorations thru Carnival for them but it's so expensive. I did that when I took DBF on the cruise a few years ago and they do spiff up the room a bit but I think this time I will just decorate our doors. I saw some people who did that on the last cruise we took. I just don't know what I should do... I think I'm goingto go to the party store this weekend and look there. Anyone have any ideas?:confused3

I went to the mall after work and stopped by a new pet store that just opened up. I really really really want a puppy......probably won't get one any time soon but it doesn't hurt to look right?
I saw the cutest small pomeranian but someone else snatched it up to play in the backroom area. They have a couple of empty rooms with a bench so you can interract with the dogs. They only carry dogs in this store.
I pass by this corgi puppy (male). It's so cute and looks mellow. I ask the employee if I could see it so he leads me to an empty room, says he will be back in a couple of minutes.
I pick up the corgi and he playfully licks my face and is really sweet. I pet him and play with him and then he goes into full blown hyper mode! He starts biting my sneakers, I tell him to stop but he growls at me and keeps biting my sneakers. I move my feet away and he gets mad and lets out a bark. :scared1: Then he starts running around in circles around the tiny room. He stood on his hind legs and tried to bite my Juicy purse! :scared1::scared1::scared1: I blocked him with my arm (so now his front paws are resting on my arm as he attemps to bite the purse). I let him down and then try petting him again. He starts running around the room again, bites my sneakers, undid my laces, pulls my laces.
The dog is so cute but I couldn't help but picture him tearing up the house. :rotfl:

Good Morning Hyenas!!:goodvibes
Cute cake Pix. I'd give it 2 thumbs up.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Shawna, that sucks about the unemployment thing. DH had that happen once and he went and talked with his old boss. Some companies automatically try to fight every unemployment claim, so their future unemployment tax rate remains low. However, sometimes talking to one's ex-boss can get it changed around. Worth a try.:thumbsup2
SO...good news is DH has several new job leads/interviews this week.
1. First one is rather weird, a new start up company looking for production workers. Guys with more talent will be promoted to supervisors. Guy called his on cell phone last week and told him he had the job. But called on a cell phone that was cutting out. Said he would call him back on land line on Sunday...NEVER DID!:confused3 DH is going to give him a call later this week and find out what the heck is going on. So we just don't know what to think on that one.
2. He has an interview this morning with a temp. agency. It's a temp to hire position. Driving semi-truck part of the day, working in warehouse and operating forklift. Said they were having trouble finding someone that has a CDL for truck driving, but still willing to work in warehouse environment. Doesn't pay great, but what the heck. DH says it's better than sitting home.
3. A chemical company looking for a railroad track manager sent him to local college to take skills test. He had already taken the same test for another prospective employer (and did good on it). So they said no need to take it again. So this afternoon he will call them and give them his previous test number so they can look at his results. DH would REALLY like this job. It's located about 20 miles north of where we live. No traffic and very easy 15 minute commute down I-5.
4. A company located 86 miles from our home!:scared1: They have done a phone interview and two online tests. He will be going for an in-person interview Thursday. It's in White Salmon, WA; down the Columbia River Gorge. We REALLY like an area called Stevenson/North Bonneville and have talked about possibly moving there someday. Stevenson area would put us halfway between my job and his job (30 miles each way). So not a bad commute for either of us. The company provides some sort of electronics for military planes. Sounds like a very good job with very good benefits. We would let continue living at our current home for a year until DD graduates from high school. He could take our travel trailer and rent a monthly space for those days he doesn't want to drive home or has to work long hours. Then next year think about trying to sell the house, buy a new one in the Stevenson area if it looks like a long-term job that he really likes.
The good news is it looks like there are positions available out there. Bad news is everyone is telling him that literally hundreds of people are applying for just one position. The job #1 told him that the first two hours the job was posted over 400 people applied.:scared1:

What?? You have to tell me!
:thumbsup2 Cool! You guys rock! I could never be a teacher. I REALLY dont like small children. Doesnt that make you laugh? I have four kids under 8.. I LOVE my kids.. But I dont have a lot of patience. I get crabby when I have to take care of other peoples kids for very long. Probably because I cant beat em.. :lmao::lmao: IM KIDDING!
Sooo... Im feeling... I dont know. Unfulfilled. :confused3 Not sure what it is all about. Actually.. I think it is a combo of just popping out the babies, my high school reunion, and the fact that we are FLAT BROKE because of dh's work. I want to go to college.. But I want a cool job.. Frelan wants me to look into Border Patrol, since I could actually do that locally. :confused3 I dont know. I have a strong desire to learn Arabic, and go to Israel. :confused3 I think I might be watching to much NCIS. :rotfl2::rotfl2:I think I am having a midlife crisis. :rotfl2::rotfl2: At the ripe old age of 28. :lmao:
 Cheer up punky pie! We are ALL FLAT BROKE!! As a matter of fact our entire nation is FLAT BROKE!!:lmao: And yet I laugh about it.
I think I've been having a midlife crisis since age 27, so you're in good company. Of course that was also the age that I had my first child. Life just has it's ups and downs doesn't it. Whenever I get to feeling a bit overwhelmed I try to just look at the little pieces and not the whole big picture. That and try to focus on the future. Set some little goals and before you know it, you'll be accomplishing bigger things.
For instance there was a time I thought I could NEVER finish college, work full time and have a child. But I put my mind to it and took 1 class every quarter on my lunch break. Granted it took me 6 more years to graduate, but I did it. You can to...the hardest part is just thinking about it and taking that first step.
So here's my Megan plan:
1. Get online and find website of nearby community college. Peruse the classes, see what might interest you, check out what degrees are offered. This can be done when you are broke! Cost $0.
2. Call the financial aid people and see what is available.
3 Schedule a day that Frelan will be home and go take the test to see what classes you must start with. Make it a goal to do this before September 1st. Cost $0 or perhaps cost of a babysitter for a few hours.
4. Decide when you want to start classes! Set a date and put it on the calendar. Say, the first quarter after the baby's 1st birthday. WRITE IT ON A CALENDAR.
4. The day after twins first birthday, find out next date to sign up for classes and sign up for 1 class. Sign up for 1 class only. It can even be an online class. But sign up.
The rest after that is gravy!:thumbsup2
Now the job thing...let's be realistic. Having 4 small children and trying to work full time will be, what shall I call it?? Oh yeah...NUTS! How about finding a local business, even fast food or something where you can work for just a few hours a week. Just enough to get you out of the house, feel good about yourself, be able to communicate with people that don't drink from sippy cups and let you know that you are valued.:thumbsup2

Sounds good! I need to do something. I think this sounds good. :thumbsup2 I have been tossing around the idea of working part time a lot lately.. Even just volunteering at the Y. Alex freaked out when I mentioned getting a job. So did Frelan. At first.. Frelan SAYS he is okay with it.. Until the reality sets in, and I am actually out of the house for any length of time. Ga. He was really upset when I told him that I have accomplished nothing with my life.. He looked at the kids and was like..:mad::guilty: I got married and had a gaggle of kids. Its not that hard!

But we ran into a snag..
Silly boy decided to fly in here to metro area, but back to CA out of our hometown. He wants to rent a car, we agreed to rent one for him but it would be a one way rental.. $450!
Two day rental for economy car with same pick up/drop would have been only $40
I told him-- no can do on rental car. We are now scratching our heads trying to decide, I had already offered a ride up to my parents' for my oldest DN (his dad is out of town) .. RAV only seats 5

I wish I could just have my innards removed. I got a little sad after having the twins with the thought that my child bearing days were over.. I even thought that we would probably have more kids. Now.. Im sure we are DONE. Frelan is not so sure. He keeps hinting around that in a few years we might want to revisit the baby having issue. But we have FOUR KIDS. Thats a lot! The next person who looks at me with pity in their eyes and saying that I am either... really busy, superwoman, crazy, or.. I like her plan!
alison, I'll be praying your dh finds out about jobs soon! Dh got a surprise phone interview from.......................................where is Alex.............................................. ..............................Starbucks! He was up in the attic of my moms house cleaning and they just called him asking if they could do an interview. The look on his face was priceless as he tried to get down the hole, onto the ladder and not fall or drop the phone! :lmao: who knows!
We found out no severance today also. Jerks! I'm really hating them right now but no more time spent on them. Hopefully we will find something soon and be on with our lives. Paradise stinks! ON top of everything my brother from somewhere overseas or in the seas who knows emailed a nasty letter to us about how we were not very good with our money always putting the kids in things and going to Disney etc. We should have had at least a savings of a year. OK come on, now that would be idea but how many restaurant managers with stay at home moms of little kids have a years worth of savings??? we are not in danger of losing our house just yet MR. I was so mad. He gets judgemental sometimes and its easy for him to do when he's halfway across the world. UGH.
OK then we went to my moms house and put all of her stuff from the garage in the attic. We had to go to storage and get the rest of her stuff that has been stored there for about 5 years. Its paperwork from my dads old business. We are not sure if we have to hang on to it or not. Anyway, after taking about half of the legal boxes (there are about 30) over to my moms we discovered termites in some of them. OMG!:scared1:TERMITES!!!! We dont want this in my moms rafter filled attic!!!!! Shoot! We ran home and grabbed the boxes and brought BACK to storage hoping they were not contaminated or none had gotten out yet. They were only there about a half an hour.
SO, we are trying to figure out what to do. Some of the stuff needs to be gone through but its personal information of his old clients so we cannot just throw it in the garbage. That would be easy. We are thinking they need to be burned. Mom says they are old enough to get rid of. Now we dont know how to do this because we dont want to bring them back to our fire pit and burn them here in case they get out and scatter everywhere. I mean there were THOUSANDS:scared1: So we were laughing at what to do. Maybe take them to a campground and carefully throw them on a campfire a few papers at a time? Maybe get a metal trash can and burn them that way but where to do it? Douse them with bleach and try to kill them first? But how can we be sure? We were cracking up at ideas. Believe me they got creative and I wont say on here because we've gotten in trouble for joke ideas before that people took too seriously but we were laughing our butts off.
So to recap, not such a good day but I'm still in a great mood anyway and thats all that matters. Like Alison, we are all flat broke but I'm laughing. Insanely laughing possibly but laughing still!!! :rotfl: Oh, except the STarbucks interview was good! :thumbsup2

hyena party? what??
:flower3:
My internet connection went POOF this evening.
Gave up trying to disable and renew the ISP on the laptop. Asked J to tackle the mess of cords to reset the router and modem. Directed him what to do, he kinda yanks the modem forward (I'm thinking.. uhh I don't think normally we have that much yardage) and unplugs everything.
Plugs it back in.. and ........
Not a single blinking light on the modem.. NOOOOOOOOOO.
Calmly asked if maybe he put the battery pack in wrong or maybe unplugged it.. the evil teenager surfaces to unleash the wrath of "YOU told me to do it that way!" Again I say, let's look and see what is wrong. (Thinking it thru, not yelling.. very mellow in fact)
Evil teenager is still spouting.
I told him I didn't care for his attitude and go to bed.
He stomps off, suddenly pops out of the bathroom with electric toothbrush and some odd white thing in his hand. Yells "I hate this stupid cheap house"
sigh, now what?
Apparently he "lightly slammed" (how does one lightly slam??) the toothbrush onto the old fashioned ceramic toothbrush holder. Which is now in his hand.
Silly mom, I start laughing and telling him "having a bad day much?"
He grumbles and tosses himself on his bed.. then pouts that I'm laughing at hm and repeating everything he says (I was telling E what had happened - he was dialyzing).
E comments about "well it is almost a full moon" :rolleyes1
Then the truth comes out, he's mad because I didn't try to fix the computer earlier. He missed playing some game.
hmm, I think somene needs to go on a "game diet".:lmao::lmao:
And yes it was his fault the modem had no power, he had unplugged it from the power strip when he gave it a yank. :upsidedow

his girlfriend
and whatever friends he can scare up in the evening.
He's going to be exhuasted, overnight flight and then on the run all day.
180 miles from here to Duluth, 30 miles to my parents, his mom lives in town somewhere, his dad lives way up the north shore now. Duluth may be a smallish city, but it's spread out running along Lake Superior and pushed out into the hills above.
His dad and one of his brothers know he is coming.. but they were sworn to secrecy not to tell anyone else. ;) My mom (grandma) is going to be thrilled! She took care of him many weekends when he was a little boy. Nice to see him all grown now.

hyena party? what??
:upsidedow
:lmao::lmao:
It's always so reassuring that I'm not the only one dealing with the teenager "tude"! DD asked what I would like for mother's day. I told her "the greatest gift you could give me would be to dump your attitude and quit the eye rolling"....at which she rolled her eyes and stomped off all the while giving me the Look!:lmao:
I think I'm having allergy symptoms, this is the longest sniffley and sneezing cold I've had in a long while.
hmm, it seems to go away when the windows are closed at night..
darn pollen :headache:
And yet you can't seem to heed my advice and purchase a Neilmed Sinus Rinse.:confused3

Have I mentioned that DD has wanted a tattoo for about 2 years now. Of course I have said NO!
She is taking an Assertiveness course at college. So I believe she was trying to work on me. The other day she came to me and CALMLY discussed wanting a belly button piercing. I listened as she sounded very grown up and told her I would talk to her Dad and think about it. I was relieved at least it wasn't the tattoo thing again!
So I decide to offer her a deal...she can have the belly button piercing with a few strings attached:
1. We get to approve of the shop where she will have it done. We want to go there beforehand and make sure that disposable items are being used and/or that proper sterilization techniques are done. We will also be there when the procedure is done.
2. If we agree to let her have this piercing then she agrees to not consider having a tattoo before age 21. Of course I know she can get one when she is 18 without parental permission. But I am also the person paying for college and if she wants her college paid for...well then, no tattoo. I know she will get one anyway the day she turns 18, but at least it will be in a spot that is not seen by the public!
So far she hasn't taken me up on my compromise.:thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone,
Have you guys seen this? http://www.disneystore.com/disney-moments/c/62995/ :wizard: I think it's really cool! You can upload a video, select 10 segments and make it into a flip book. I think that's kinda cute. :goodvibes
I did not make it down to DTD last night :sad2: I really wanted to go but then my mom asked me to accompany her to the mall again yesterday. We went to L'Occitane where she bought a lot of products. She is leaving on Sunday for a business trip and for her friend's wedding. One of her overseas friends asked her to buy some items from L'Occitane (it's more expensive overseas).
I ended up getting a chapstick for $5 and some hand cream for $10. The chapstick was on sale.
Another friend of my mom's asked if she could find some Godiva chocolate candies for her son. It's these tiny round pieces of chocolates that come in a small tin. My mom bought one extra so we could try it and honestly, it wasn't that great. :confused3 It was also $4 a tin. :faint:
I saw some cute cargo pants at Anthropologie......I took one look at the price tag and almost fainted. :faint: It was around $88!! :scared1::scared1: I also saw a cute shoulder tote at Metropark. It's a Diesel brand bag but it cost almost $200 so I passed.
I think if I really want it I'll just wait until it's on clearance.
I'm going to try to make it down to DTD tonight. I wanted to try to find a mother's day present and look around World of Disney. I think the park closes early (8pm). If I make it down in time then I'll hit some stores on Main St.
Hope you all have a great day. :goodvibes
Oh, and last night I received 1 missed phone call. I call the # back and it was my dad. He called me from China to tell me that there was a Laker game and that they were winning. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I've been using it for a while now and I can breath again! Why didn't I take your advice years ago? Lol. I even got my SIL using it now too.

Piercing? <<shudder>> no thanks
Tattoo? I love mine! :lovestruc
I get comments on it everywhere I go .. only in the summer here of course (it's on the side of my calf)
It took a lot of soul searching for me to decide and then we talked to people to ask where/who was the best in the area. E made the mistake of not finding a really good artist the first time, it's okay but it was done in an odd way. Doesn't look as nice as the ones he had done later.
My first tattoo was small, not much thought put in it.. would love to have something put over it someday. But it still would have to be small to keep it below the neckline of my clothes.
If the boys ask for tattoos I would have them wait it out. Really be sure WHAT they want and place it somewhere out of the public eye. Of course they would need to pony up the cash on their own.
Legs, feet, upper arms are good places .. the skin doesn't get as stretched in those areas. Stretchy areas of skin plus pregnancy, gaining/losing weight, older sagging and you've got ewwwwww factor. :lmao:
One option that isn't permanent yet still has coolness factor... henna tattoos. Done professionally they will last several months.
But do make sure it is an artist who uses good quality materials. I've read of bad allergen response from cheaply made henna.
The drawback ... they cost almost as much as an inked tattoo.

I am not big on piercings and when my then 15 year old daughter asked for gauged earrings I told her that when she was making her own money and had her own place then I didn't care. Well, now a year later and wiser she is so glad that I didn't let her.
Now I have 2 tattoo's. One on either shoulder. I went to the same tattoo artist for both and they were actually done 21 years apart. When he saw the one he had done years before he felt the need to redo it. My tattoo's are both very vibrant and bright. And they are also hidden unless I am dressed to show them off. I love them both.

I bought a rice cooker for my Mother's Day gift to me , out of my very own pocket. :snooty:
Experimenting and using recipes posted online.. made a giant pot of jasmine raice (that my family happily gobbled up, gee no leftovers?), a spanish rice kinda cassereole thingie (that hubby has been happily eating for two days-- the boys wrinkled noses and ate cereal instead), and today a baked style Mac and Cheese.
All of it made start to finish right in the rice cooker. Even the onions, ground turkey for the casserole-- done in the cooker and drained off the fat.
I like it better than my slow cooker. Faster, easier to clean (nonstick), doesn't have that overly wet cooked to death texture (steam escapes thru a port) and incredibly versatile.
I got this one

8 cup size (up to 16 cups cooked rice) at Target

I love it. I can cook our entire meal in it. It has these little spice cups under and you can put your seasonings there and it seasons your food.
