Ok...if you had to eliminate one of the following restaurants from your dining schedule, which would it be: Raglan Road, Whispering Canyon, Sci-Fi Dine In Theater, or a character breakfast at Ohana? Family includes mom, dad, and three girls, ages 12, 11, and 8. (I posted on this in another forum and got limited response...thanks three that did reply.)

Also, I am reading about the snack credits on here and I never knew that they could be used for so many things. We thought it was limited to the popcorn, fruit, drink, or ice-cream bar, listed in the brochure. Can you really buy stuff at the Main Street Bakery there? Our last trip we paid cash for those items, and for Dole Whips, and used our snacks for bottled water because we thought that was all that was eligible.
We have the basic dining plan, not the deluxe. Does that make a difference?
WOW. This will change everything if we can get bagels and juice for breakfast on a snack credit!

Also, is the boat from POR to Downtown Disney a reliable and easy method of travel to Raglan Road if that is where we decide to eat? Is there an additional fee for it?

Thanks so much!

Well, of the four, Raglan Road would be the least entertaining for the kids. However, we ate at Raglan Road on our last trip and it was the best meal we had (just dh and I).

The only one of the four that I haven't eaten at is 'Ohana for breakfast (I've done the dinner), but we're doing that on our upcoming trip.

I guess it depends on what kind of meal you're looking for. RR has great food, but nothing extra about it (I know there is some form of entertainment at night - music I believe - but I don't think it starts until 8 p.m.). We enjoyed both WCC and Sci Fi.

I have been to Raglan road, Whispering Canyon and Sci fi Dine In. My fave of the three is by far Raglan Road but the menu choices may be a bit "out there" for picky eater (the guiness stew and bread pudding is fabulous)

I have been to whispering canyon twice. The first time we had a blast. We were up dancing and our waitress was great. The second time we were on our honeymoon and they put us in a corner by the fireplace and let us have a 'romantic dinner', which we were NOT looking for at WC, The food bothe times has been pretty good.

Sci Fi dine in was great for atmosphere. The dinner menu was not very appealing to us but the waiter let us order the burger and the shake from the lunch menu and it was a pretty decent burger.

We are trying Ohana's character breakfast this year. We love Ohana's for dinner and my hubby loves Stitch so I'm sure it would be a bbig hit for us.

If I could skip one it would probably be WC or Sci Fi depending on your
proximity to the restaurants that day. Or how about pay for a sci fi lunch OOP. THe meal would be about $15-person for a burger and it's a way better atmosphere than a CS.

As for your snack credits you can use the snack for anything that has the DDP snack symbol beside it. We used it in the POR cafeteria last year for grapes, cinnamon buns, etc and then used our refillable mug for drinks in the morning then we had our CS credit left over for lunch and a TS for dinner. We also used the snack credit at MK bakery and although some items aren't included a lot of great things are.

As for the boat from POR to DTD. This is one of the reasons we love to stay at POR. Even though the boat seems slower than the bus it is a great trip down the rive. We even did it in a light rain and it was still nice. You get to go past Saratoga and the treehouse villas and see some wonderful views of Florida's fauna. The captains are usually pretty entertaining and have some Disney trivia or games on hand to keep everyone occupied. Keep in mind that the boat stops at FQ in between POR and DTD so make sure you schedule that time in. I would give yourself at least 45 minutes to get there by boat.

OOPS, sorry about the long answer. Have a great time!!

Any entertainment at RR starts at about 9pm. It's Irish dancing and it's quite entertaining although the place really starts to get busy around then and it can be hard to get an ADR

The rule of thumb I was given by CMs about snack credits is that they are good for any individual sized item that costs $4.00 or less.

My advice about the restaurants is this--keep all your ADRs. I have found that you can't always stick to them. Things happen that are out of your control (e.g., sick or tired kids, bad weather). During your trip, if you're keeping up with all your ADRs, pay cash for the SciFi meal since it's likely to be the least expensive of your choices. If you have to miss a meal for some reason, then go ahead and use your DDP for the meal.

Whispering Canyon--we found it very overrated and service terrible.
