 We'll be at VWL Dec. 12 -16. Glad you have your reservations all set!

The things we like to do during our December trip are:
Candlelight Processional usually twice if we can manage it, we don't have lots of days.
MVMCP
Osborne lights
Fantasmic
Wishes
Jingle Jungle parade at AK
Resort hop to see the decorations. Grand Floridian a Must do. Walk around the Boardwalk, go to DTD, just enjoy the holiday atmosphere. We wear our Santa/Mickey hats and everyone smiles.:santa:
Ride bikes from WL to FW to see the wonderful way the campers decorate their motor homes.
I must go swimming at least once...it's Florida and it should be warm!
The rides and ordinary attractions just aren't our focus. We've made going in December a tradition....every December since '02. That's the first year we knew that Disney had Christmas decorations...before that we were clueless!!!!

You're going to have a wonderful time!

We are tentatively planning to go early Dec to OKW. We will not be able to determine exact dates until late March. OKW is our home resort. I know this is a busy season. We will need a two bedroom.

Do I need to worry about availability?

We will be at AKV concierge from Dec.11-18th. We also have the same thing booked for this May ( Memorial week). I love the Christmas decorations and events at Disney in December. This year I'm going to try and catch some of the Mousefest events too. Hopefully many of us will meet up at the DVC member event behind Epcot ( held once a week in Dec) if they continue the event.---Kathy

Well, we could bump into each other at F&G! I'll be there, March 21 to 29...AKV, BWV then AKV concierge. I'll bet we can work something out!!!

NYE week at BWV with DH was wonderful, and we'll definitely do it again...probably in '10. We alternate our December trips BWV, then VWL, BWV, etc. and I wouldn't want to have to deal with traffic on NYE, so we'll wait until that's our resort of choice for the trip.
There's one downside of a NYE trip, as opposed to before Christmas, and this is for us only, is that although decorations are still up, most guests are over celebrating Christmas. For that whole week, we probably saw only 20 guests wearing Santa or Mickey Santa ear hats, even though they were on sale! I would wear a previous year's Christmas WDW tee and people would comment how nice, but very very few people had something like that on. So, we definitely prefer pre-Christmas WDW trips. I was lucky, I went earlier in the month for 2 nights, and just felt it was more Christmas spirited then.

We booked a 1BR at AKV (Kidani savannah view) for December 6-13. We are going to try to switch to BCV or BWV at the 7 month window, just because we think it would be more convenient for going to the Mousefest events. But if we wind up at Kidani, we're totally thrilled with that too.

For those of you considering Mousefest, we went for the first time last year and had an absolute blast. I highly recommend it! You can look at last year's schedule at www.mousefest.org to see what kind of meets you can expect--several of them are annual traditions, so those happen every year.

thanks, i did see this, do u know when the '09 one gets up & rolling?

def planning on doing the one's aboard ship, not sure as to how many of the different events we'd work in afterwards though/unsure of whether to sign up for the major 'paid' events:confused3 mostly for time issues as to whether DH & DS would want to commit to the time involved.

I'm not sure when they'll get the preliminary info posted. As far as the details on the meets go, those usually aren't posted until fall. But you can tell pretty quickly from the '08 schedule which ones are likely repeats. So you still have some time to decide how much your DH/DS would want to do. :)

Then my DSIS called and said they were going to try to take advantage of the Military deal the first week, so I called about the 15th for Nov. 29 -Dec. 8. Well, at ten and a half months out we got 1BR Boardwalk view for Nov. 29 - Dec. 6, then we're waitlisted for Sunday the 6th and we got Dec. 7. There's no way we're checking out then in again at the BW. So, if the WL doesn't come through soon, I'm going to have to cancel those last two nights before I make our February ressies since they were borrowed points and will have to be used by May 31, 2010 and those will be our only two trips that use year.

When can I book the BLT? If the WL doesn't come through by the end of next month, I'll add on the last two nights there with my BLT points.

OT: Do we have to pay maintainance fees on BLT this Feb.?

If I want to book January 31 - Feb. 9, is the first date I can book March 1?

I just booked a 1 bedroom boardwalk view for 12/25-1/1. I have never been there for NYE and I am sure it will be a madhouse but that is okay. At least I can slip out the international gateway and be back at my room in a dash from Epcot.

I'm sure you know my dates by now, Timmy: 1st-15th December @ BCV (studio). Going to try changing one or both weeks at the 7 month window (but this new waitlist policy may make things difficult).

We bought our flights last night so dates are set in stone now (again flying through your local airport, Timmy). Can't wait, first DVC trip!

yes!!! looking forward to seeing youn again... I dont know if you remember Jamstew from the TOT Meet ... she weill be there too... :goodvibes

I'm looking at Dec 27th - Jan 1st :)

:goodvibes never tried/done NYE at the world.. I am so jealous... but tradition and culture still weighs in my family that I havwe to be home on new years eve... cant remember spending new years eve anywhere else but home... maybe I can use that reasoning of SSR is my home resort... maybe next year it will fly :goodvibes :hourglass

Going to AKV 2BR savanah view in the Kidani section from Dec17-24. Me, wife, 3 boys and in-laws are all going down.

one thing I learned from the previous Dec. trip you really gotta try to learn to slow down... I wanted to o everything last Dec. that for the 1st time in year I came back home tired and needing another vacation to recoup!!!:crazy2:

I'm not sure when they'll get the preliminary info posted. As far as the details on the meets go, those usually aren't posted until fall. But you can tell pretty quickly from the '08 schedule which ones are likely repeats. So you still have some time to decide how much your DH/DS would want to do.

have to really brush up on mousefest fyi... the little time I hare with other dis regarding mousefest was electrifying!!!

Wow, I'm I a little nervous now. I'm hoping for VWL 12/27-1/2. I hope I won't have a problem!!!

I hope you the best for your dates pixiedust: pixiedust:

I have learned my lesson the hard way with my last Dec. 08 trip... I was on wait list and never got on on any DVC property... As of today I booked my Dec. 13 to Dec. 18 trip at my home resort SSR :goodvibes Now all I need to do is wait and be ready...

Let the planning begin !!!

Count me amongst the 'got shut out last year, so called early this year'! Last year I started waitlisting sometime in Feb for the week of New Years, never did get the whole week so we ended up cancelling. This morning I called in on a wimp to make a change to our summer plans and decided to check on December dates. We are happy to report we are BOOKED!!! For Dec 27-Jan 2 at AKV in a 1BR Concierge. I talked it over with DH tonight, and I get to keep it!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: It will be our first time in the world during the holiday decorations.

Well ... I am on the waitlist. I tried to book 12/19 - 12/23 at an AKV Concierge studio yesterday at 9:01 am (ONE day late on the 11-month deadline) and could only get 12/19. I am waitlisted for 12/20 - 12/23.

12/21 and 12/22 were already booked when I called just as MS opened. Yes ... 12/21 was already booked when I called at 9:01 on 1/21 and 12/22 was already booked before the very first day that it could be booked as a check-in date. So, anyone who called this morning (1/22) was SOL and had to be put on the waitlist too.

I also called at 5:59 55 seconds Pacific time on Dec 21 and 22 and it was taken  So I called the same time on the 23rd and got a AKV Concierge studio for the 23rd and 24th. :goodvibes Also waitlisted for the 22rd. Could not afford the high weekend points for 25 or 26th.:crazy2: I also got the Dec 21- Jan 2 at a studio boardwalk view and will try to get a studio at BLT for the 12/25-1/02 with my Blt points when they start to reserve for my DD/SIL. I'm sure they'll love AKV/BLT. Maybe I'll stay there instead and put them at BWV.;)

I have post its ::yes:::crazy2: colored ones... pink, lime green and orange equals 3 trips:hourglass and yup a big bulletin board by the bathroom hall way :rotfl2:

:scared: Now that organizational system would make me a little crazy!

1. I have a folder in my file cabinet for each trip and an Excel spreadsheet form that I plug things into as they are arranged: dates, resorts, confirmation numbers, ADRs, etc.

2. Dates to make reservations, call for ADRs, etc., are in my Google calendar.

3. I also have a "to do" list in my Disney travel folder (on the computer) where I write down everything that needs to be done up until the day I leave.

4. If I have more than one trip in the making (right now I have FOUR), I'll take everything out of the individual file folders and put it in a binder. Each trip will have its own section.

5. As soon as I have park hours and everything is finalized, I print out my trusty index cards for each day.

5. A week or so before I leave, everything for that specific trip goes into one of those small plastic expansion folders that has compartments like for checks & stuff but longer (if you KWIM). It has tabs for "air," "DME," "resorts," "maps," "schedule," "dining" & "receipts". This folder goes in my backpack for the plane.

I put all my receipts & anything else I want to keep in the expansion folder at the end of each day of the trip. That way, when I get home, it's all in one place.

So maybe I'm a little obsessive  but post-its? seriously?

I do my calling of adrs... booking for car rental etc during work hours... and since I work crazy hours the post its are perfect for me.. I call.. I get it and write all the data from the adr the time and what day/date it is for on a post it... when I go home I stick it on my WDW board... as the trip gets nearer I go over the post it... and tape it over an index card.. 3x5 ... all fyi's, numbers and stuff... then off I go... then I only grab the today post it and by the end of the day it get tossed :crazy2: crazy but it works... for my disorganize brain :p

Booked Dec 20 - 23 at SSR all based on my youngest DD getting in the Fall Advantage College Program. Also booked BWV in Aug. Need a lot of pixie dust for her. She really wants to be accepted along with her BFF.

ANTSS2001 - I had to chuckle on the post its. Usually I have a spiral with all my WDW/DVC ressies. But I couldn't find it, found the plastic sleeves with last year's trip but no spiral. So went to school with my calendar and took out my post its:thumbsup2 As soon as lunch started, made my calls. I have all my info on orange post it sheets. Haven't done anything else yet. Have to wait until March to hear whether my DD gets into the college program.

I did have a notebook before but then when I loose the notebook I loose the post its.. so I basically stick it in my wallet where my dollars are ... and thats when I develop my WDW vacation board.. as soon as I get home... I place my keys on the rings.. hang cell phone next to it (board near an outlet so cell will be charging)... and take purse (purse rest at the bottom of the board meaning the floor :p ) out and stick it on the board the next day... I know where to grab all the stuff I need before I leave the house also gives me a moment to browse what else is missing for my plans for vacation :goodvibes ... I do tend to loose alot of stuff.. whats that saying if my head was not attach I would loose it too:rotfl2: thats me in a nut shell :upsidedow

We've decided even if she's not there in Dec, we'll still take a family trip for those 3 days. We love the holiday decorations and lights.

We're at OKW Dec. 19-24. At seven months will there be anything else available? My guess is there will be availability at SSR and AKV since the new section will be open. You might get lucky at BWV in a preferred view and you also might get lucky at BLT only becuse it's the first year it's open. I wouldn't hold my breath for BCV and VWL.

Oops and thanks!

Thanks for the congratulations on our upcoming baby - we find out next Tuesday if its a boy or girl and I can't wait!

Oops is we are not blessed to have 2010 points - what I meant is we had to borrow points from the year 2010 (we have a Feb use year) since we only had 35 points left from 2009.

Sorry for any confusion - Laurie

We did the whole mess with the waitlist last December too. What a headache!! This year I booked right at 11 months. We're in a 2 bedroom at OKW December 26 and 27 and then 2 bedroom at BCV December 28-January 4. We didn't have enough BCV points to do the whole stay there. I'm going to try to switch the first 2 nights to VWL or AKV at 7 months since we've never tried either of those. Wishful thinking, I know! pixiedust: Now can we just make the next 11 months go a little faster? :hyper:

I have to save a few points to bank so I can try BLT next year... I love the CR but with my points being limited.. it will be awhile before I can try BLT... plus it must be really busy with the regular homeowners at BLT... I dont see any luck with the 7 month window for me... my home resort is SSR... :flower3:

You bet I'm ready (although today was very nice weather)! We're taking the oldest grandson (who's five) with us for his "solo" trip (no other grandkids on this one) before he starts first grade in the fall. We're going to do this with each of the grandkids as they get older.

I am one of the few people who agrees with you. I love snow!! :cheer2: My mom says it's because I was born in December. However, we already have a ton of make up days at the end of the year (I'm an elementary school teacher) due to snow. So, if we get any more snow, I'd like it to conveniently fall on the weekends! :thumbsup2

Dec 3rd - 6th BLT MK view!!! We LOVE Disney at Christmastime!!

As for valentines weekend....DH has to work Saturday. He'll be coming home around 7pm, stopping to get pizza so I won't have to cook!! We are saving all the money we can for our cruise and disney stay this summer, so no going out or buying gifts. As far as I'm concerned our newly purchased 300 pts is valentines, bday, mothers and fathers day, etc all rolled into one! :thumbsup2
