I am a new member with my first trip starting a week from Wednesday. I also want to buy an annual pass but I am guessing I will not have my membership card by the time I leave. I think I read on here somewhere I could get a temporary card at the Sales Office at SSR. Do I just walk in? How long does it take? Call them in advance?
Also, I will be renting a car and I've read parking is free at parks if you are staying at a resort. Would I need to check in at the resort and get something for my windshield?
Thanks!

Yes you can get at SSR; guess you can call in advance if you want or
just walk-in allowing for some time when you get there in event CMs are
otherwise occupied for a bit. Takes just a few minutes for them to issue card.
Parking at theme parks is free for all guests staying at WDW resorts including DVC resorts. Parking pass on your dash which is given to you at your resort when you check-in is usually all that park CMs are looking for when you pull up to park entrances. Parking is not available at resorts if you are planning to visit a theme park (ie at Contemporary, BC, etc). However, if you wish to visit a resort you can obtain a temporary parking pass (usually for 3 hours) at the guard booth of resorts you want to visit to dine, browse, shop etc. I believe this may be extended at BW because it's considered an entertainment location.
DVC members are entitled to free valet parking if offered at resorts with DVC attached; ( tip is customary ).

Walk in, doesn't take long, don't bother calling.
You need a parking pass or your KTTW card for free parking, so yes, you need to check in first.

We got our temporary cards when we signed-up. They were more like a slip of paper but they worked well enough to get a couple of discounts before we left.
