We are planning a driving trip to WDW from New York next February and would like to stop at HH for a couple of days at the end of the trip. It will make the drive home seem a little shorter and it will be fun to stay at a DVC Resort that we haven't been to yet.

This would only be a couple of days at the end of President's Week. Do you think there will be a 2BR available at the 7 month window for the Thursday and Friday night of that week?

Or should we try to trade with a HH owner for some of our points so that we can book before the 7 month window opens?

Thanks!

A 2BR in Feb at HH shouldn't be much of a problem at 7 months- especially the Fri nite. Weekends are not as heavily reserved year round.

Enjoy!

Also, you might want to check into the cash price, might be much cheaper than using points.

We go to HH every Feb. or March and we have had no problems getting a 2-bedroom with only a month or two notice. We always stay on member cash or DC cash because it's low season and the rates are so good. We rented a 2-bedroom the last week of Feb. for $115.00 plus tax for a Friday through Tuesday stay. They also had GV's available for $310.00 / night.

Good luck with your plans!

Doc, Dean and Paula,

Thanks for the ideas. I will probably book one more night at WDW on points, then when the 7 month window is open, switch to HH. I will watch for specials and pay cash if they are that good.

Thank you all,

HBC

PS: Dean, I think we will be expanding our II search to include the end of March, early April for a place on Hilton Head.

I am always surprised by availability at DVC. Sometimes I call, thinking I will have no problems & I can't get exactly the size & dates I want. Other times, I have called on short notice & totally lucked out. Before I understood the importance of the 11 mo. window for a home resort, I called in April to book HH at the end of Aug. I got a 2 BD for several days that I wanted & the rest came through on the waitlist. Now I book HH in Aug. at 11 mos. But I just called today to add a night to our HH Aug. ressie. No problem getting a studio for a Saturday night. We are staying in a 2 BD for the week, but I didn't want to spend 99 pts. for the Sat. nt. that we are arriving, because we are probably arriving just to sleep. We were going to pay for a motel, but we'll use 40 pts. to stay in a studio. You never know until you try!
