You got it right, regular plan has no mug and only 1 snack credit. The other plans have a mug and 2 snack credits.

That's kinda got me bummed to. I've been debating the dining plan for our trip in June and weighing the pros/cons. No mug is a con. It's just going to be me and dd who turned 10 this past summer so now she's considered an adult and I'm not sure if it's going to be worth it.

well, the QS plan is new, and has no table service meals but is only $10 less than the regular dining plan so they have to do something to appear to boost the value or no one would buy it...and the Deluxe plan always did have the mug.

The regular dining plan is exactly the same as it's been...no change. No mug before, no mug now.

I'm stuck in snow in the Poconos.
The deluxe plan is alot more expensive so they kick in the mug and the Quick service plan is expensive for only getting CS so I think that is why they are throwing in the mug. So I usually only go during free dining so I buy the mug and take the free regular DDP.
With the reqular DDP did change in 2007 and earlier the tip was paid and you got an app. so for taking that away you should get a mug.

Very possible on the lake in western NY near Buffalo, that I am very much all snowy, but unfortunately the mug thing I am not all snowy on! ;) I wish I were because it would make the regular DDP seem like a better deal to me. My guess, the DX DDP seems like a bargain if you think you'll do 3 TS in a day or 1 reg TS and 1 signature per day, until you get all full and tired of eating by day 3 or 4, then you begin to do CS a bit so the mug makes you feel like you got some extra value. The CS kind of the same, the value of the CS plan is about a dead breakeven if you eat that way--2 CS and 2 snacks, both CS with desserts--then and only then is it a dead breakeven--value of the CS DDP about $26-$32 per day without the mug the lower end wouldn't even be a breakeven, and unless your staying at CSR, the chance that anyone is going to run around to get to Peppermarket multiple times on your vaction overall is pretty slim. The mug gives those who are getting less value from the plan a reason to feel like they got more value from it.

DH asked if it would make more sense if I got the QS plan and then OOP for TS dinner? Then they could have breakfast cs and lunch cs. Not sure if the math will make sense.

I too am irked that they removed the tip the app ok but I liked the plan so I didn't have to do MATH vacation and math just don't match!

OK CATNE I don't feel so bad compared to your lovely weather event!

I entirely agree about the deluxe I would just roll from one ts to the other and ugh that would just make me ill. We did Crystal Palace one morning and I spent the rest of the day dragging. DS and DH had no problem but OMG lunch time my head was spinning and past on lunch!

Thanks for the beakdown on the CS plan as I never really thought about it as DS and DH is BIG for the TS dining.

I loved the plan when it first came out because I didn't have to do any math and I could just relax and do whatever, the kids could order whatever and life was good, now the plans don't make as much sense for us since everyone is over 10 in our family. and no way do we eat it all so paying for things and wasting them and paying tip on the wasted food doesn't work well for my economical side. WIththe old DDP you didn't have to order all the courses of a meal, you could skip dessert or the appy and still break even when it was dollar cost averaged, now not so much. Now if DH and I were going for an anniversary with no kids I'd be inclinded to get the DXDDP for the two of us for a short 2-3 night vacation. Beyond that though I'd be rolling in pain!

Take a minute to figure out where you'd be eating and what it would cost for what you might order before getting rid of the regular DDP. For me I stay DVC so I have a kitchen to prepare breakfast even if by prepare I am referring to dump cereal into bowl and pour milk--in a regular room you may not have that luxury so your numbers would be different. I would not purchase the CS DDP and then pay OOP for TS daily. You'd be better off getting the regular DDP then paying OOP for an extra breakfast item or two. Do not let something like $13 mugs stop you from the meal plan you want--$13.00 OOP once for each of you will be far less than paying OOP for TS.

OMG and I thought I had it bad, snowy, windy (not 50 mph though) and lucky me a balmy 7! I shall bask in my 5 extra degrees of warmth, but I am worried about the kids on the bus stop with these wind chills!

Makes sense to me. We stay at the RIverside so no cooking. DH and DS don't go for cereal or fruit (thats what works for me!). So I pay oop with the old plan but it still worked out great for me. So now I will be still paying OOP for their CS breakfasts, DH appetizers and tips at dinner and DS here and there apps and snacks here and there. DH and DS use my snack credits.

Geesh I am really scratching my head and wondering if it would jsut make more sense to save seperately to just pay OOP for meals. Just a nonsense mess. Such a shame since I loved I didn't have to think TOO MUCH!! Grrrr

In our district if it dips too low they have to call a 2 hr delay factoring in wind chill and below zero. The children outside is considered. I think that is due here Thursday.

Hmmm looking at what you are doing I'd almost say that paying OOP would be a better choice for you. Doesn't seem like any of the meal plans are really the right fit. WHat if you put the cash the DDP would have cost and just get whatever, whenever--I'd be surprised if it wasnt' a break even in $$, but that you'd get the food yeach person wants when they want it. For us we really dont' liek the CS desserts so that is a savings of @4.00, we do not always get the snacks, but we love our appys at dinner, so without a dining plan we don't have to get what we really don't want but can get what we do want. I'm afraid I am not being much help! :rolleyes1

In Nebraska...it's actually 13 degrees actual air temp. here right now, but of course the wind chill is ridiculously low - the 2 degrees will be the overnight low at about 3 A.M. or something (I won't be out in it!)

But the wind & blowing snow just won't stop today. The state patrol says all the roads in the northeast part of the state are closed due to ice & white-out conditions. They reported a 27-vehicle pile-up on a highway about 50 miles north of me. And Iowa, our next-door-neighbor, has a blizzard warning going from the same storm. I guess Interstate 80 in Iowa is at a stand-still.

We're leaving for Florida on Friday (not going to WDW til Tuesday, though:banana: ) I think this weather we're having is just Nature's way of making sure we really, really appreciate the weather in Florida.

Nope, not getting less value for my money on Deluxe DP, the mugs don't make or break the plan for our family. The mugs are a nice addition, however. We get plenty of value doing CG, Narcoossee's (twice each trip), HDDR, Spirit of Aloha, LeCellier, YSH, CRT, CP, CM, Kona, Ohana, 1900 PF, Sci-Fi, MM, H&V, and on and on....Yeah the mugs are nice, but we don't really get too many chances to fill-em-up. The mug is a nice little benefit.

Well said.
For us the DDP makes since because we like to do a nice sit down or buffet once a day. I also like knowing I have the meals paid for in advance.
For breakfast, sometimes we will get a breakfast platter for 1 CS and split among us. I spent very little if any OOP for meals on our last 2 trips using the DDP. ( I do miss the Apps though)

ITs a souvenier mug that in the past was specifically designed to the resort you stay at and you can fill it to your hearts content during your stay.

Nice you are getting out of the cold weather, wish we could get a winter trip, maybe after DD gets out of college. If you take that route 80 all the way east where it crosses route 81 in PA I live 3 miles from there. Suppose to be single digits on Friday.

Some schools are and were scheduled off on Friday but we are going in to make up for a snow day. I giggled about route 8o too off 84 over here. I say we take a ride to 80 and hop in the trunk so she can bring us with her!

Isn't it funny to think 40s or 50s warm??

Its an 18 hour drive from here (that is with no icy roads). Take 80 to 81 to 95 to 4 to Disney but last 4 trips Allentown,Pa. Algiant Air 2 hrs. Route 84 that is in Scranton my DD goes to Marywood U there, that is why only a trip during free DDP last week in Sept. usually during the Bloomsburg Fair cause DW sub at Berwick High gets days off for the Fair. Boy did we change the origional question here what was it?:rolleyes1

Mugs. I think it had something to do with mugs ... and instead you folks are just making me more homesick! :confused3

So I guess I should say something about mugs here. Ummm, I'm still on the fence about the QSDP or regular DP or no DP. A mug just could tip me one way or the other, since we'll probably buy at least 2 if not going with the QSDP.

Enjoy the white stuff! I'd be on :cloud9: if we could get a good blizzard. Boy do I miss those 3 foot ones. They didn't come often enough in Centre County and fat chance around here!
