Rainforest Cafe Gift Cert from MyPoints

I was just wondering if anyone has had any trouble using these at the Rainforest Cafes at WDW? I just received a $25 on that I will be taking with us in two weeks, and I wanted to make sure that there won't be any problems. Sometime, somewhere, I thought I read that some RFCs or Landrys didn't honor them or at least gave people a hard time.

We used $50 worth earned through MyPoints at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney with no problem.

We just used $50 worth of GCs from My Points at the Rainforest in AK about a week ago. No problems.

We are going to Niagara Falls, ON, in June and I know (because I called the RFC there) that they do not accept any gift certificates, coupons, etc. because they are a franchise and not owned by Landry's. The RFC's owned by Landry's can be found at Landry's Seafood (http://www.landrysseafood.com). You should have no problems using them there.

Since these are like cash and not a coupon then you have no reason to mention to your server you are using gift certificates. This gets you the same service as everyone else and no bad attitude from your server. ;)

I really do appreciate the support. I have the $25 gift cert from MyPoints plus a $5 coupon from being a member of the Rainforest Cafe Club. So, all together that $30 should either totally take care of our meal, or at least put a significant dent in the bill. I love sitting at the one in Disney Marketplace and watching the fish....

I just checked the Landry's site listed above, and both the RFC in AK and the one in DTD are indeed Landry's owned.

I wanted to check too because we also have GC's to use there, and we did use one in the past there without problems. (However, that was before Landry's took them over.) :):D:)

We used 200.00 in RFC gift certificates at the one in Animal Kingdom with no problem. I was a little concerned about using that much at once, but again no problem!

It expired on 12/31/01 and they let me use it last week! There is some kind of controversy going on about GC's having expiration dates and I pointed out to our server that our certificate had expired but she said NO PROBLEM!

So go and have fun! We did!

There may be some problem in using both the gift certificate and coupon. When we tried to use both we were told that they could only accept one "coupon." I told them that the gift certificte was not a "coupon" but the equivalent of cash. It eventually got ironed out but I don't recall exactly how. I think we split the bill into two separate tabs and applied the gift certificate to one and the coupon to the other. So, you might want to check with the server to make sure that both can be used on the same bill, or if not, to have the bill split into two tabs.

I have enough points to cash out 2 RFC certificates which we plan to use at the RFC at DTD before we head out on our cruise this September. I've never cashed out from Mypoints before. How long do the certs typically take to arrive and do they have an expiry date?

I cashed out of MyPoints for 3 RFC gift certificates the beginning of 3/02 and got the certs about 6 weeks later. In 01/02 it took only 3 weeks for 2 certs. With lots of people cashing in before the point values change, I'd allow at least 8 weeks to get the certs in time for your trip.

The expiration date is one year from the date of issue. It's always been the following year from about a week before the cert arrives in the mail. (Ex. I received the cert's 4/26/02 and the expiration date was 4/19/03.)

I also have used $50 gf from MyPoints for the RFC at AK. No problem whatsoever. I am going to Disney again in July and had 2 $25 GF that expires in June. I called customer service at Landry's told them my coupons expired before I went on vacation. They told me to mail them the expired ones and they will reissue me new ones! (I didn't want to take the chance on not being able to use expired tickets).

we have used at least $100 worth every visit on gifts and food at the RFC at AK. never ever had a problem.
