I was amused by the comment during the email show about how John (not PodCast John, the caller) who asked about coffee on the ship had a good voice for radio. If you notice his screen name, John is a Ham radio operator so he (probably) does use his voice on radio.
Me? I've got a good face for radio. :goodvibes de NS1X

Sorry Mike. That will teach me to multi-task while listening to the PodCast.
Are you bringing an HT on the cruise?

I am curious if on DCL, if they do tours of the radio room. That would be way cool. I would love to see their GMDSS, Stabalized VSAT, TTY, WeFax, Single Side Band Radio, two-way radio infrastructure (looks like MTR2000's or MSF5000 repeaters and maybe even a 5 channel trunking system talking to HT1000 handhelds (probably no HT750 and HT1250's). I would also assume they are using a Nortel Option Telephone Switch(the same system(s) that are on property at the world) tied into a some kind of ACD/IVR Package. Radio rooms on ships are always facinating. Haven't you ever wondered what all those antenna's are used for?

I will probably bring an HT. I like to listen to what is going on. I will probably bring a remote base, that is IP connected to my Repeater at home.
Probably hang out on 446.000, 70cm (penetrates the inside of boat better than 2 meters).

We will probably bring some good Texas Wine with us also! We are shipping a case to some friends of ours in Celebration ahead of time so we do not have to pack it.

Good Texas Wine? That's something I'm not familiar with. We visit our grandchildren in Houston about 3 times a year, but we don't often go wine shopping while we are there.
We pretty much stick to cheap wine and will probably buy a box of wine to bring onboard.

I'm guessing a white since we'll mostly be drinking it on the balcony during our mid-afternoon break. What brand will probably depend on what's available at the store we shop at, but it won't be Franzia. We usually pick up the Banrock Station here in town.
