Back in November I had said my wife and I are going to WDW in January..actually we're supposed to have been going next week. But due to circumstances beyond our control, we've had to go at a later date.
First of all my name is Bill (37) and a huge fan of WDW and consider Walt Disney to be my hero. He means so much to me that well, just ask :) And my wife (Angela) is also a huge fan of Disney. Although we've both been to WDW we've never been together. This is our Five year wedding anniversary to each other (it's June 5th). And looking forward to it.
The details so far: June 14th-23rd, Staying at Pop Century
AND we've decided to stay at Pop Century and have the deluxe dining plan. I want to eat at CRT and that takes two dining credits. With the three meals a day we'll have 24 credits versus 16. Besides I don't really care where we stay, we aren't going to be in our room for long :)

Hey I'm here! :goodvibes
Good start so far...Have any pics?

Thanks Tink--no pics yet..but this is a start.
We're narrowing down on where to stay--- looks like either POFQ or POR- Contemporary is just too expensive but if we're driving we'll save $500 or more. Plus we can take food to eat for breakfast and not have to spend extra $$!!

We love driving! We love being able to pack whatever and not have to worry about it getting lost somewhere. We also bring any dried groceries that we can that won't get ruined, which saves money on the groceries when we get there since we have a kitchen.
I think both POFQ and POR are nice resorts. We've eaten at POR and the scenery was beautiful.

We drive from NC and it's not a bad drive at all...and we have 3 kids!:scared1: I have to say either of your choices sound good...but I don't think there is a bad place there! :goodvibes We will be there around the same time I think...can you believe I don't know our actual check in date!:lmao: I try not to think about that because then I start to panic...about all the stuff I have to do to get a family of 5 ready to go.
Can't wait to hear more about your plans.:)

From Raleigh to Disney is about 600 miles or so which isn't bad. I'd rather drive and take our time instead of worrying about flight delays, leaving our car at the airport for a week and so on.
We've decided to stay at POFQ and will be there June 16th-25th!!! I can't wait. I am looking forward to doing some fishing with a cane pole

Well I added to this earlier but forgot to update it... Anyways, we've decided to stay at Pop and have the deluxe dining plan. I think it will be better and we can use two credits for CRT, which I HAVE GOT TO DO!!!
As far as our schedule goes here's the tentative one.
June 16th--Arrival from Raleigh, NC. Check in and dinner at Raglan Road
June 17th--MK
June 18th--Epcot
June 19th--AK or DHS
June 20th--DHS or AK
June 21st--DAY OFF :)
June 22--Either MK or Epcot
June 23rd--Either MK, Epcot or DHS
This of course all depends on the EMH. We might sleep in one day and head to MK later if it's open two hours later than normal park closing. Of course this is a TENTATIVE schedule as it could change :)

I'm hooked, tell me more!
Where's Angela's pic?
The two of you will have such a fantastic time! We are going DxDP this time too! I had an ADR at Cindy's castle, but cancelled it. I think I'll wait until DD is older and can appreciate it more! We are going to Akerhaus for breakfast to see the princesses though.
Yay! Glad you got the resort down :) I originally planned on POP but I decided I could probably only take so much cheese factor in one day that I upgraded LOL

WlWilliams...that Arkerhaus sounds good...It's the closest thing I can get to my Danish heritage.
kgle--I like the Pop b/c one it's cheaper and two it appeals to me :)

Since we will be there about the same time, I'm going to subscribe and read along.
BTW, I think Pop is such a fun place to stay and the service is great!

01-15-2009, 10:02 PM
Thanks Sharlon. We've decided to add a day since we're staying at Pop. I just wish that Disney would put out their schedule and EMH schedule for June...I really can't plan our days this way arrggh!!
But I HAVE been looking at all the different restaurants..so far i've got
June 16th--our arrival on Air Tran from Raleigh---go to Tony's Town Square
June 17th--Breakfast at Tusker House
Lunch at Dinorestaurantous (sp)
Dinner at Coral Reef or Le Cellier (LOL)..like that will happen.
June 18th-- Breakfast either 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's
Lunch--depends on where we're at
Dinner--probably Epcot
Beyond that, I haven't done much of anything.

Hey, I saw in your signature that you have a PTR! I can't wait to hear more. Sounds like you've got a good schedule going so far.
I really want to try Le Cellier! It's on my to do list for May.
I'm dying for the park hours too! It's just ridiculous! I keep emailing Disney and they send me that stupid automated answer.
I hope you are feeling better. Take it easy and slowly work back up to normal foods. When I had the food poisoning on our honeymoon, I started finally feeling better after 3 days of pure you know what so we decided to get ice cream from gheraldelli (sp?) at DTD. Let's just say that wasn't a fun evening when we got back to the hotel. :crazy2: :upsidedow
Disneyfan71
01-16-2009, 02:05 AM
Well so far we've got some of the parks down..as for ADR's, well can't do that until 90 days out which means March and I'm kinda bummed. But as soon as the EMH's come out---OH BOY :)
Tentative schedule is:
June 16th-Arriving from Raleigh, NC--MK that afternoon and evening
June 17th--AK (morning) Epcot (evening)
June 18th--DHS (morning), MK (evening)
June 19th--DAY OFF :) Probably DTD
June 20th-- MK or Epcot
June 21st-- AK, DHS or MK
June 22nd-- MK (evening)
June 23rd--Epcot (morning) MK (evening)
June 2th--Not sure
We will probably spend the majority of our time at MK and Epcot. The last time I went to DHS I wasn't that impressed. Now that they have RnR, well we shall see if that's a favorite of mine. If it is, we'll go back.
Never been to AK and have heard mixed reviews--but definitely will try it out. If we like it, then we'll go back.
Basically on some days we'll sleep in, go to DTD, maybe some of the Resorts and then MK the rest of the day.
Again it all depends on the EMH :) 150 days to go :)

So we got some good news today. We should have our money SOON, like in a few weeks. We will pay for the entire trip and be done with that part.
Also we ordered our planning DVD which should be here soon I hope. This will get me through the next few months.

So LATE last night/early this morning I'm stressing. Why you ask? Well I'm anxious to see the Extra Magic Hours for the parks in June. This will really determine where we go on which days.
We arrive on the 16th around 11:30. Will get to the hotel say around 1:00 and off to the MK we go. We'll probably eat dinner at Tony's Town Square and watch Spectromagic.
Now after this, we're not so sure. I'm thinking on Wednesday we eat breakfast at Tusker House and then ride the Kilimanjaro Safari afterwards. Beyond that, well I'm stressing about the FP's. I mean I REALLY, REALLY want to ride Everest and Dinosaur. But what I'll probably do is just get to the attraction when we get there and hope for the best. I don't want to worry about having to get to a certain attraction.
My other thing is that I really want to do some park hopping. Meaning, go to DHS in the morning and Epcot or MK for dinner. Most likely we'll eat dinner at MK or Epcot since they will be open the latest. Of course if DHS is open late for EMH we'll eat there for dinner.
Oh..I'm really stressing but shouldn't :)

My other thing is that I really want to do some park hopping.
We LOVE being able to park hop. What we do is usually head to one park, then go back to the resort in the mid-afternoon for a swim/relax and then head to wherever our dinner ADR is and then to whatever park for the night. Taking that mid-afternoon swim/relax really gives us a second wind!

I think that's what we might do too. Or one day sleep late and go to MK for the rest of the day. It's just so hard planning right now but I'm certain to get it right before too long.

Honestly, if you have TOO much planned down to everything you do for each day, the trip isn't going to be as fun. It's good to get an idea of what you want to see and do, but really it's important to relax...stop and smell the roses!

Okay...so I'm reading about a teacher discount for The Dolphin and Swan. I called the Dolphin and was told we had use of EMH's and WDW Transportation. The onlything we don't have is the Magical Express or Dining Plan.
So, I did some calling around and inquired about a rate quote..For June 18 and 19 it's $189.00 a night and June 20-28 it's $129.00 a night..how awesome is that?
Well, I came up with an average (and I use that term loosely) of around $100 a day for meals..plus or minus of course. But with airfare and tickets it's less than staying at POP w/ the deluxe dining plan. After all you pay for your meals in advance. And to be quite honest I'm not a big breakfast eater so we'll take granola bars and such. This will save us $$$.
Our dilemma is this: We stay at POP, deluxe dining plan, flight and tickets OR stay at a MUCH nicer hotel, but not dining plan!!!
I guess we'll figure it out once I've done the math if you will :)

I've always wanted to stay at the Swan and the Dolphin. They just look so pretty. I think you'll be fine without the dining plan. We didn't use it in June and we did fine. To me there are only a couple differences. When you pay OOP and are on a budget, you may choose a menu item based on price. With the DDP you can choose any item that is covered on the plan without looking at price. Also, when paying OOP, you might leave off dessert to save money. With the DDP it comes with dessert. It just depends on whats important to you.

Only 73 days to go :)

Wow! This sounds great. :cheer2: Congrats on getting to go early. I bet April is a perfect time of year to go. I actually think my in laws will be there sometime in early April. The childrens miracle network films for the telethon in April and my FIL is the head anchor for our local tv station. He goes down with his family every year to cover it. It sounds like fun right? I thought so too until DH told me he never got to go to the parks when he was younger (during the telethon trips) because his mom wanted to lay out at the pool. She doesn't like the parks. :crazy2: Oh and they even got free tickets to the park that is hosting the telethon that year.

Thanks Heather. I wanted to eat there and the other night forgot to add it to our reservations. So today I was looking at our schedule and the EMH's and figured we'd have time. Welcome to my PTR...I am thinking of changing some of our ADR's but not sure. We were actually supposed to have gone last year but couldn't. And then decided to go in January (we're supposed to be there now) and couldn't. But I have my custom-made maps we got last year; they're really neat. Thank you, thank you, thank you Heather...that adult beverage looks YUMMY!!! I'll definitely have to take my meds before drinking. I'm type 2 diabetic..so it's all good.
***UPDATE*** I was able to score reservations at San Angel Inn on our last night. Figured it would be a more fitting end to our vacation. We're starting at MK and will end up at Epcot!!!

Hi Bill!! I'm all up so speed... i think...more or less:rotfl2:
OK don't stress about FPs!! they're either there or they ain't LOL!! You can always ride EE using the single rider line... you and your DW will get split up and sit w/ other people, but the line is MUCH shorter than standby. I doubt you'd have to wait any longer than 20min tops. I used it on my solo trip in October... I rode EE 7 times in less than 1 hour!! Just something to keep in mind!!
Okay..so you're probably wondering why my countdown ticker has changed? Well simply: WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY IN APRIL What you ask? Why April? :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum :mickeyjum
Well we were able to get the 4/3 deal but staying from April 3rd-12th. Why sooner than later? A couple of things. One (we got the 4/3 deal) Two (it's cooler in April) and Three (Space Mountain will STILL be open).
But seriously though, I REALLY, REALLY can't wait until June. Also, we reserved the room AND made ALL of our ADR's.
They are:
April 3rd-Dinner at Rose and Crown Pub
April 4th-Sci-Fi Dine in for lunch
April 5th- CRT for Dinner
April 6th- Chef Mickey's for breakfast; Tusker House for dinner
April 7th-Teppan Edo for dinner
April 8th- Crystal Palace for breakfast; Brown Derby for dinner
April 9th- Coral Reef for dinner
April 10th- Tusker House for breakfast; Tony's Town Square for dinner
April 11th- Le Cellier for lunch
That's it :)
I'll keep you posted with more.
Oooohhhh It'll be much more comfortable in April!! Plus you can see the Flower and Garden festival stuff at Epcot! I love your ADR list so far... I hope that you do a review of Coral Reef in your (ahem) upcoming TR... i'd really like to try it.
Both 1900 park fair and Boma have fabulous bfsts... in case you were wondering.... and thinking of an extra bfst here or there:lmao:

Great news about you getting to change your dates......better weather and you get to go sooner. :cool1: Your ADR's look great. We've eaten at most of them and really liked them. I forget, have you stayed at Pop before? We've stayed there twice and really enjoyed it. Their food court has such a great selection. And we thought everything we had there tasted great, too.

I've only stayed on WDW property once (1980) and that was at the Polynesian..and back then the only two WDW resorts were that and Contemporary. :)
Thanks...half of these places I've never been to. Or experienced character dining either so that too will be a plus. And with the 4/3 deal, well I simply could NOT pass that up.
I appreciate you joining in..Stay tuned!!!!

Hi Bill :wave2:
Wow! You've had a lot of changes! ;)
I think changing your trip from June to April was a great move, but I personally hate the heat. Our first trip to Disney was during the first week of March and that was too hot for me at times. :rotfl: I read that you were originally suppose to be going in January. That's when we went last year (we were just getting ready to come home at this time) and the weather was wonderful. Quite cool some mornings, but I loved it. Had so much more energy to tour the parks! But, I'm excited about the F & G Festival and not having to pack such a wide variety of clothes for everyone! :thumbsup2
Can't wait to join you as we count down to our upcoming trips! :cool1:

Yes I'm glad we changed it from June to April..and I live in the south and HATE it when it's too hot and it can be like that in June in Florida. I was in Florida last year in May and oh my goodness!!! It was downright hot. I noticed the F & G Festival is going on...I've seen pictures of it so I'm glad of that too.
I don't really mind the crowds, just being there is enough for me :)

Well I added a few more restaurants to our ADR's...and was able to score reservations at San Angel Inn on our last night. Figured we'd start at the MK and end up at Epcot. Plus I changed our time from 5:00 pm to 8:10 pm at Coral Reef. But no luck on Le Cellier for dinner yet, but I will keep calling to see if someone has cancelled their reservation.
Last night/early this morning I ordered our custom maps...We have some from last year but a few things have changed and having newer maps makes me feel better :) Plus I'm hoping to either get the Unnoficial Guide or Birnbaum's 2009!!! So we'll see about that.
Thank you to everyone who has joined in to my PTR...I appreciate it :)

We were in disney in October. We had lunch scheduled for Coral Reef and I just wasn't hungry yet because we had just eaten breakfast a few hours before. My kids were taking a break and I decided to walk over to le Cellier to see if they had any availabilty for the evening. They had like 6 different times available for my party of 3. Good Luck I just love LeCellier and wanted to share what I did hoping ot help another DISer.

Finally had a minute to drop over. DS's Godfather lives in Raleigh, His name is Reed Mullin. He was once the drummer for Corrosion of Conformity. I see you scored some great ADR's and like you...I had to throw in one more trip before Space Mountain refurbed! (Which is why we booked March) :cheer2: Ya know...my dad is diabetic and many of the places we ate got him some nice desserts with no sugar. If you make a note now when you make these ADR's they will have you hooked up before you even get there. Everyone was great about getting him something to eat (for dessert) too. Your vaca starts on DS's birthday. I wish we could go then but it's blackout dates for us. :guilty:

I've been busy today. And I started looking at our ADR's and wanted to eat at 50's Prime Time instead of Brown Derby, plus we have an extra dining credit (whereas BD takes two). And we decided to drive mainly b/c it's saving almost a thousand dollars. Also we can leave on Thursday night, drive down to Savannah, GA and spend the night. Plus we don't have to worry about catching a flight and so on :)
We officially have less than 10 weeks now :)

Just found your PTR. Sounds like you've made some changes along the way! I do that ALL THE TIME!
Dining selections seem great to me. :goodvibes
I see that you considered the Dolphin. I stayed there several times and it is lovely. They have the teacher's discount as you mentioned but they also have entertainment book rate and AAA discounts which I keep forgetting about.
We are goingin September and staying at CS but have gone several times in April. You will be there on my birthday! I think the weather is great in April. Very comfortable.

As far as we're we are staying...well it's CBR :cheer2: :cheer2: So far we're planning to drive but I was looking at Southwest and it's $200 cheaper than Airtran AND it's a direct flight..plus we can get to Orlando that morning :) and can have a FULL day at MK!!!

CBR is great. We have stayed their twice. My mom, sister and nephew stayed there twice as well, although different years. I think that you will really emjoy it. We did. I love, love, love their gift shop and actually make a point to go there as much as possible, even if we are not staying there.
When we stayed at the Dolphin we were able to get ADR's. The difference is that you can't book the entire trip at the same time. You can just book 180 (at that time) out...one day at a time.
Looking forward to your updated itinerary. :)

I need to call back and ask if there's been a dinner cancellation at Le Cellier---we could only get lunch.
I've been to 50's Prime Time---it's really neat and it's like those 50's style kitchens w/ the metal tables. The waitresses act like they're your mother and say stuff like, "keep your elbows off the table," and "be sure to eat all your vegetables." The interaction is pretty awesome :)

Thank you everyone who has joined my PTR...We're VERY excited about our trip. So far nothing else has changed. Well I calling Disney on Friday to make our first deposit. I was told last week that I could make a one time extension on our deposit, and well I did. So come Friday :) we'll make our deposit.
Our ADR's haven't changed. However if we like CBR too much, we might decide to take an afternoon off and hang out, just depends on our mood and how tired we are. Of course I LOVE Disney and don't want to miss out. Yet at the same time I want to have some R&R too :)
I keep checking the mail for our planning DVD :) And the maps too.
Some of our must do's are as follows:
1. Ride Space Mountain
2. Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road
3. Splash Mountain
4. Test Track
5. Soarin'
6. Mission Space
7. Spaceship Earth
8. Mickey's Philharmagic
Of course there are other things too...but that's just a little taste

Yes I've never seen it and it looks so neat, plus it's in 3-D :) And I love Mickey Mouse. I'm certain we'll see it a few times. Most of our time will be spent at MK b/c well, it's the first major theme park I ever went to..and it means a lot to me.

That's a good question. From what I read it's going to be down most of 2009 and needs a MAJOR overhaul. If we don't get all our money in time, we might have to change our reservation to stay at Pop Century...but at this point we're going in April :)

POP always intrigues me. We've had friends stay there, but our family it too big right now, so we'd have to get two rooms and I'd rather not spend the extra $$ on it. Here's hoping you get your money! :cheer2:

Thanks...We should get our tax refund soon but that's not going to pay for it all--but there's more money coming too. If we don't get it all we will definitely go in June--just not sure if we'll be able to get the 4/3 deal or not. I love the pictures of Pop though :)

We had to book before Jan. 24th which I did but figured it would be easier to go in April--not as hot and Space Mountain will be open. But if we have to re-arrange our schedule I'm hoping they will honor the 4/3 deal. Well 6/3 since we're staying nine nights :)

OK...so here's the thing. I went to Disney's site and they've extended the 4/3 deal to where you can book through March 29th....So now I'm faced with staying somewhere else and going in June instead!!!! Pro's and Con's are abound of course.
Pro's of going in April:
-Space Mountain is still open
-Not as hot
-Get to go sooner than later
Con's of going in April:
-CROWDED
-Cooler
-Can't stay as long b/c my wife is only off for a week
-Payment is due Feb. 17th and I'm not sure if we'll even have all the money before then.
Pro's of going in June:
-Will have more time to save money
-Can stay somewhere nicer
-Parks are open later that I know of
-Not nearly as crowded
Con's of Going in June:
-HOTTER
-No Space Mountain :(
As you can see I'm having a time here..I've been pricing around and if we drive, we can stay at the Polynesian or Grand Floridian. If we fly, then we'll have to stay at a moderate resort!!! I just don't know what to do. And I shouldn't go because a certain ride will be closed (If we go in June) I mean there will be others open :)

Ok if you really want my opinion...Go in June. It's not that hot. I mean 80 and 90s. Then again I'm use to that because I live in GA. Humidity, hot sticky weather is my daily life in the summer. I went in June last year and barely waited for any ride. I think I posted the dates but it was the second week I think. I do remember that the soarin line was 45 minutes at about 10 am, which is to be expected.
Only that one ride will be closed (and TTA which connects)....more of a reason to take another trip when it opens again!
Now the big pro that makes me think you should go in June..GF or Poly!!! OMG those are like a dream to me. I would so jump on just driving and staying at the Disney resort of all Disney resorts! LOL How long will your drive be? Plus didn't you say you get to stay longer if you go in June?
I've seen pics of april crowds and they sometimes seem manageable and other times wow. Unbelievable!
Just my two cents but when I read you could stay at those resorts if you wait, I just had to say go for it!
The best thing about all this is that no matter what you decide you will have fun when you get there!

Yeah I'm thinking more along the lines of June...that way I KNOW we'll have the money and can drive..and in all honesty I don't mind driving :) We get to control most everything. As far as the weather, well I'm not worried about it too much.
And with Space Mountain being closed, well I'm not going to let that bother me--I've ridden it a bunch but have only ridden Splash Mountain once.
Thank you so very much :)

I would vote for June. I agree that the weather isn't that hot then. And the crowds are bearable if you use FastPass and EMH's. We usually go in July and haven't had any problems. We'll be there in June this year from the 19th-27th. If your dates are during that let me know and we can plan a DIS meet. :thumbsup2

Honestly, if we could go in April instead of June we would. But with school and work it's just impossible to go then. And we now love going in June. We used to go in July and June is a complete turn around! Not as hot, not as crowded...etc. etc.

Well part of the reason we wanted to go in April is b/c my wife is out for Spring Break..but the county has a snow make-up day on April 6th and if she's out that day she has to pay a substitute---if we go in June, well she doesn't have to worry about school..PLUS we can stay at say OKW or WL :)

Well here's an update. Thank you to all to have posted so far.
So onto the update: We've pretty much decided to go in June..can stay at WL for about the same price for staying at CBR--it's a little more but not much. Plus we're seriously considering driving instead of flying.
A bit off topic: But I've also decided to go back to school after being out for twelve years :) Am I crazy? YES!!! If all goes well I'll be in the Massage Therapy program so I can work in an office setting/private practice and eventually start my own practice!! I'll keep you updated on that too!!

Well the reason why we aren't going in April is mainly we're not going to have the money by Feb. 17th (when the final deposit is due). Plus my wife lost a day of her Spring Break b/c of a snow make-up day. Sooooo we decided to go in June. She'll be out of school and we can stay a little bit longer :)

For those of you just joining I'll give you a run down of the events!!!
Originally my DW and I were going to WDW in September 2008. Well I was working for the airlines and lost my job. So we had to cancel that trip. A few months later we decided to go in January 2009...but that wasn't going to work either.
Well we deliberated and deliberated and chose to go the week BEFORE Easter. How dumb are we? Seriously, what were we thinking? Well my DW is a teacher (media specialist--a.k.a. librarian) and since it snowed here last week, they lost a day. Which meant she would have to pay a substitute AND would shorten our trip.
So here we are!!! Our scheduled trip is June 14th-23rd. But we saw the Dolphin had a teacher discount for $129 a night starting June 20th. We decided then to stay at the Dolphin from June 20th-29th. However, we aren't able to take part of the dining plan. Still, it's not a bad deal and we're within walking distance of Epcot. I went to trip advisor and there were a number of negative reviews. For Pop Century, all positive!!! Go figure, right?
Our dilemma was: Stay at a 4-star hotel for the same amount of nights, be withing walking distance of Epcot and DHS. No dining plan, but that's about it. OR we stay at Pop and have the DDP which means ALL our meals are paid for in advance. On that same note, we probably won't eat breakfast that much..just light stuff b/c neither of us are big breakfast eaters. With the DDP we get three meals a day PLUS we can go to CRT and Brown Derby.
I'm not really worried about getting from resort to park--we'll have a car and can go directly to the parks on days we REALLY want to get their early...or have breakfast ADR's.
What the issue is...where do we stay? Go for luxury and no DDP or go for value and DDP!!! :)
Originally I was going to call tomorrow and book the Dolphin..we only have to pay for one night and the rest comes out AFTER we've checked out. This gives us time to save up for meals and tickets. If we stay at Pop, our final deposit is due April 30th. But with that, ALL our meals are paid for, no worries about the extra money!!!
Decisions, decisions.

Wow!!!! So, what are you going to do??? I hate making decisions like this!!!:rotfl2:
Disneyfan71
01-29-2009, 09:14 PM
Wow!!!! So, what are you going to do??? I hate making decisions like this!!!:rotfl2:
WELL...as soon as our money is in the bank, we'll make a deposit for Pop Century, staying from June 14th-24th...that's going to give us 10 days!!! One of those will be a rest day---could be on our arrival day OR somewhere in the middle. More than likely, we'll drive down EARLY Sunday morning and get to the hotel that afternoon. After our arrival, we'll probably tour the hotel, take pictures, that sort of thing. Then Monday morning start at the parks.
OR we could get 10 day tickets and not use one of them...There isn't much difference from the 9 day to 10 day :)

Thanks...I was doing better but have seemed to have taken a step back--my ears are STILL hurting. And unfortunately I can't take a decongestant b/c of my high blood pressure. So it's more or less wait it out kind of thing.
As far as the ADR's they aren't finalized yet..I might decide to try something entirely different.
Glad to hear that you are feeling better!

So it's been a few days and I apoligize for not updating. We got our park maps and last night I was studying them pretty close!!! And I went to tourinplans and saw the crowd levels for when we're going..they're an 8!!! That's just insane!! Who knows, they could dropp off again.
Anyways, I'm getting even more excited about our trip..and once the planning DVD comes...watch out!! I'll be watching it DAILY!! Probably not but you get the idea.
I'm still sick with some stupid virus on top of my sinus infection--that's why it's taking so long to get rid of...and my ears STILL hurt--hurts to talk.
So that's my update for today!!! Will keep you posted

Hey Bill!
I'm pretty bummed about the 8's too! I saw this a few nights ago. When we were there the Tuesday before Thanksgiving it was so crowded that we couldn't move. We hardley got anything done at all! That day was an 8! I'm just going to make a good plan, use fastpasses, take advantage of EMH, and just have a good time regardless of how busy it is! It's Disney afterall! :) Can't wait to meet you guys in June!

Hey! Just skimmed your PTR...
Love Raglan Rd-bread pudding!
SA- Okay food but awesome atomosphere
CRT- Okay food, awesome atomosphere...nothing like eating in the castle! We ate there on our honeymoon this past Aug.
Crowd levels- Get there early! Do the things most important to you, then relax! Like a pp said, you're still in WDW. How bad can that be?:)

Thanks for joining!!! That's right, I'm not going to let it get the best of me...I'm going to have a good time. We'll take advantage of the EMH's and well take the rest in stride. And we're driving too..so that will be an advantage of overcrowded buses :)

Yeah, I have to say, the bus situation was bad last time at ASMo. They were packed, literally a small stampede from DTD and we had to wait a really long time at the bus stops. I know POP has their own bus, so it could be better there. We stood in the blazing Aug. sun waiting for our bus!

We'll use the buses and all but not if we have a breakfast ADR at say Chef Mickey's or something. I don't want to risk being late b/c all the buses are full. Now if we're not in any hurry, by all means we'll take the bus. I'm sure they aren't as crowded in the afternoon!!

So on Friday afternoon two things happened....well actually three.
One: We got a letter from the industrial commission and my wife will be getting her settlement money
Two: I got my LAST W-2 form so now we can do our taxes.
Three: Our Disney planning DVD ARRIVED!!! We watched it tonight and couldn't contain ourselves...we were both teary eyed from all the giddiniess...I CANNOT WAIT!! until June. Will it EVER get here?
Our plan: tentativley is this... We will drive down on the 13th...stay outside Disney..get up Sunday morning and drive to the hotel--and go to MK or Epcot. Right now we're going to one park each day---then subsequent parks on the remaining five days. Where? Well I'm not sure.
But THANK you ALL for responding to my PTR...it means so much to me to have such an interest in my trip.

I don't have last years :( But in this one they do mention the American Idol Experience. But they don't mention anything about Space Mountain--I guess since it's going down for refurb ?!?!?!?!??? It's about an hour or so with all the extras too.

I debated on ading the WP, too, but I decided against it. Dh isn't much for swimming and the kids will be just as happy with the hotel pool. Besides, CSR's pool is pretty nice and probably way more relaxing than standing in lines for waterlides all day!

See that's the thing...I don't actually go on some of the slides---about 20 years ago, I nearly broke my foot on one of those slides at Wet N' Wild. This one you laid flat on your stomach (on a mat of course) with feet up. Well at the end my left foot hit the slide HARD..nearly broke it too. Since then I've pretty much steered clear. I just can't justify adding another $100 for the water park option and not going on hardly anything.

Ouch! I don't mind going underwater, but I hate being all disoriented. Also, although not as painful as your broken foot, slides hurt! You get banged all around! Not to mention, my mom "made" me go on Humunga Cowabunga at Typhoon Lagoon once. It was horrible. How many stories do you drop, straight down, before coming to a screeching halt in two inches of water?!? I thought I'd never get my suit out, kwim?:rotfl2: Yes, I think I'll stick with a pool side pina colada while my kids swim!:thumbsup2

On that note--we watched the DVD and Oh my goodness!! It's SOOOO awesome. I'm thinking of watching it again this afternoon and again, and again and again. Last night I was watching Disney videos on youtube which is really cool to see too!!
Also--I'm not sure if I've said this but I LOVE writing--this is my biggest passion other than listening to music. I've been writing for several years now and am actually in the process of starting a new story..so I might not be on the boards very much. Just wanted you all to know ;)

You'll just have to wait :)
Tonight my DW and I were talking about WDW and what kind of plans we want to make. And I think what we're going to do is wait for the EMH's to come out. From there we can kind of plan what we want to do. It's kind of hard to plan w/o EMH's. So for now, we can't really worry too much about that.
What I do know is that we've pretty much decided to drive instead of fly. But if gas continues to rise AGAIN then we might fly. :)
Just wanted to give you an update.

On that note I need to update!!!
Right now I'm not writing a novel but working on a screenplay--this is something I've wanted to do for some time and now am doing it. Of course I'll be here so don't worry about that.

Well it's officially Monday and I am STILL sick with a bad sinus infection. I've been on the boards but not as much. Right now I am wide awake because me ears are hurting soooo bad. So, earlier I came up with a plan for our ADR's...and come March 16th we can make them. Here they are and I'd like to know what you think. Keep in mind I have been to Teppan Edo and 50's Prime Time and CRT!!
1. San Angel Inn
2. Le Cellier
3. Chef's De France
4. Coral Reef
5. Chef Mickey
6. Crystal Palace
7. Sci-Fi Dine in Theater
8. 50's Prime Time Cafe
9. Ohana
10. Nine Dragons
11. Arkershus
12. Biergarten
13. Tusker House
14. Tony's Town Square
:) That's it for now!!! as it could change.
Ok, I'm going to be honest because part of the Disney experience to me is the food. (I try to be insanely healthy a few months before so I can chow down while at WDW! :rotfl: )
But, I have eaten at San Angel Inn nearly 5 times, and have not liked it once. I kept going back because I thought the atmosphere is great, but I don't think it's worth using DDP credits on. The food at Mexico's fast food area outside is MUCH better. (My parents and DH both hate San Angel Inn; they humored me a few more times, but now refuse to go back.)
Sci-Fi is a MUST for lunch! They have THE BEST BURGERS EVER!! We always do a buger and fries (or, onion rings) and a shake. But seriously, this is one of my favorite places when it comes to atmosphere and food. I'm drooling at work right now just thinking about that burger! (Last time we were there, they didn't do burgers on the dinner menu, so that's why I suggested lunch. You'd have to check an updated menu for dinner; we just always make it a mid-day tradition.)
Crystal Palace is great; we normally eat here for breakfast. They definitely have my fav breakfast buffet! It's always so cheery and a great way to start a day! (Never done dinner here, so no opinion there, sorry!!)
Chef Mickey's is one of my other favs; our tradition for her is dinner. Most amazing dessert spread, ever!
Ugh; my lame pb&j for lunch does not sound appealing at all anymore. HOW many more days until I get to eat at WDW?? :sad2:

Wolfgang Puck EXPRESS.
That's the one in the marketplace area.
Please keep in mind that I haven't eaten at too many restaurants in WDW. I loved this one the best because I could eat outside on the patio with the ceiling fans in an area that seemed a bit off the beaten path. I think there was only one family eating while we were. I love dining alfresco and so this just hit the spot for me.
I LOVED the iced tea. I'm not a soda drinker, and good iced tea is difficult to come by. This iced tea was SOO GOOD. And it was self serve drinks. So I could easily get as much as I wanted.
Even though it was a CS, they gave you a number and brought your food out to you ala Pei Wei. And the FOOD was excellent. Even DS was pleased with his menu options. YAY!
The desert was SO GOOD. A really tasty creme brulee.
This all may change after our next trip with the DxDDP!;)

Thank you Heather!!! I'll keep that in mind about San Angel!! My wife loves mexican food and I'm going there because she wants to. I'm not too keen on Mexican myself. And we're definitely going to Sci-Fi for lunch. I was able to look at some of the menus and it's a shame they don't have burgers at dinner!! Chef Mickey's---we might go there for a late breakfast or early dinner!! It really all depends on EMH's--this will pretty much ditcate which parks we go to on which day.. :)

Thanks for all your responses :) Sorry I don't have much of an update--well actually I am going back to school after being out for twelve!!! I'll be taking culinary arts (baking and pastries)--For the past year or two, I've struggled to decide on what to do. And all of a sudden it hit me--so I'm going back to school. Hopefully will start in the summer--if not will be the fall :)
YAY congrats Bill!!! Good for you! You and I will both be going back to school together lol!:woohoo:

:) I'm a little scared about going back. It's been twelve years.
I graduated HS in 1990--and went to a community college for a while. Graduated there in 1995, and then got my bachelor's in 1997. So as you can probably imagine I'm a bit nervous :)

Congrats on that decision!!! Going back can be hard, but it's such a great feeling once you get the administration part taken care of!
I'm studying for the LSAT right now; I'm so ready to be done with applications and the test. But, my test is 2 weeks after our trip, so I'm both anxious for our trip to start, but nervous about my test. September is going to be a whirlwind month!

Nervous but excited! I imagine.
I also graduated HS 1990, BS 1994. I've been toying with the idea of going back to school myself. We just have to get our debt under control before we start footing the bill for that one!:rotfl:

Thanks :) It's a huge decision but something I need to do. I'm tired of making $7.50 an hour for what I'm doing now (working from home) and it's just time to make the change :) I'm going for Culinary arts...pastries and stuff :)

I just can't believe I'm actually doing it. But it came to me in the flash of an eye and I mean literally. I was like, "That's what I'm going to do." and haven't looked back yet. Cooking is something I absolutely love...would LOVE to get a job at Disney some day making pastries ;)
Thank you EVERYONE for the kind words.

Hi Bill, checking in to your PTR for the first time. I followed the link when you posted on mine! ;) EXCITING!!
Just wanted to congratulate you on your decision to go back to school. We are the same age, and I, too, decided to go back after being out a WHILE (after age 30). Same as you, it just sort of hit me, and I didn't look back. Now I have a great career as an RN and get to take care of babies for my JOB! Sometimes you get one of those "aha" moments, and it's always best to go with them!!
I'm leaving for my trip in the mornin', but I'll check back when I get back to see how the planning's coming!
Best wishes! :wizard:

Thank you Shannon for joining my PTR. I've obviously never done one before and it's going well. I've gotten a lot of responses which makes me happy.
And thank you for the well-wishes about going back to school. I figured it's time to do something for myself rather than what everyone else wants me to do. It's been like that most of my adult life and well, I'm tired of it.
Have fun and I'll be thinking about you :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day and now it's countdown for Easter :)
Earlier this afternoon I came up with a sample plan of our trip in June. What I wanted to do was visit one park each day, then go back to the ones where we didn't get to ride everything. Plus with EMH's nothing is set in stone. Having said that, I've got something...so here goes.
Sunday June 1th—Epcot
Monday June 15th—Animal Kingdom
Tuesday June 16th—Hollywood Studios
Wednesday June 17th—Magic Kingdom
Thursday June 18th—Animal Kingdom/Epcot
Friday June 19th—Epcot/Magic Kingdom
Saturday June 20th—Hollywood Studios/Epcot
Sunday June 21st—Magic Kingdom
Monday June 22nd-- Epcot
Most of our ADR's will probably be at Epcot and MK...some at DHS but mainly for lunch. Again w/o EMH's it's really hard to do but at least I've got something, right :)

I keep checking daily--but I know that won't make it go any faster :) At least we have some kind of plan in place. As for the rides, well we will worry about that later.

Congrats on going back to school. It's never too late! I, mayself, am a full-time student.:) Now, if we all only lived closer to you in order to sample some of your "homework"!:rotfl2:
As far as planning goes, I am waiting until the park hours come out. Basically, my planning consists of ADRs, loosely based on park hours. We arrive early and stay late in order to get on all the rides. In the afternoon, we take a more leisurely pace- snacking, people watching, shopping, maybe a slow attraction (Epcot country films) or TTA (closed this time, though!).

Thanks :) So far I've got:
-Le Cellier
-Chef Mickey's
-Coral Reef
-Teppan Edo
-Sci-Fi Dine In Theater
-50's Prime Time Cafe
-Crystal Palace
-Tony's Town Square
Of course I'll make changes until we can make ADR's which is making me mad---I cannot understand why Disney changed it from 180 days to 90!!!

Hey the schedule looks good. I hate that the park hours aren't up for you yet. I was so frustrated with the May hours. I'm still confused because I can't find which days they are having spectromagic.
The ADRs sound yummy. Of the ones you chose, I've been to Coral Reef(yummy) and Crystal Palace (can't judge it b/c I was sick). This time around I'll eat at Le Cellier, Chef Mickey, and Teppan Edo! So you'll get a dining review before you leave.
I'm just so happy for you for going back to school. Brad (DH) wants to be a pastry chef and open up his own shop one day. Probably in his retirement. Who knows, he has so many dreams to fulfill. I can't keep up! LOL Congrats!!

Thanks!!! Of course these restaurants will probably change before June---and it's starting to make me mad about the hours not being posted. Hopefully they will be posted SOON!!!
My goal is to become some kind of cake decorator or have my own pastry shop...Of course I'm not getting any younger so I've got to do something and SOON!! I've already submitted my application to the community college and plan to talk to an advisor in the next few weeks.

They have the hours up through May 30th--I'll keep checking every week. I do know we can make ADR's on March 16th!!! So you know what I'll be doing ;)
Right now I don't have much else to add!! So I'll be looking at other PTR's...
Oh we did go see Friday The 13th--the new one of course. I love horror/slasher movies and it was SOOOO good...the franchise is DEFINITELY back.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!!! We did and now we look forward to Easter.
So i'm not sure how many on here watch the Ocsars? I'll probably watch a little of them. It seems every year movies come out later and later and are nominated. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button came out what, at Christmas? And it was nominated for Best Picture. Why can't there be an earlier cut-off like September? Sorry for the rant--but I've stopped watching the Oscars for this very reason.
Of course I'll be pulling for Slumdog Millionaire because it is the underdog. As for best actor/actress...not really sure who it will be. Best Supporting Actor will more than likely go to Heath Ledger as it should.
Hugh Jackman is hosting the Oscars this year...So I know all the ladies will be watching :)
Sorry again for the rant--but I couldn't think of anything else to talk about. Just wishing Disney would post the June hours!!!

I actually can't stand award shoes, so I will not be watching - no matter who they have hosting! I'm too ADD and get very bored. (Not really ADD, but I do get very, very bored. I'll just look at the list of winner's the next day!)

Oh I can totally understand. I don't sit and watch all of it either. Just the highlights!!! And sometimes I get very, very bored with some things too..and I am ADD!!! Was diagnosed with it in 1981. And every day is a struggle.

I don't so much watch award shows either. Usually, I haven't seen the movies that they are talking about so it doesn't matter that much. The only ones that I really like are the CMAs (yay, Country Music Awards) but even those I only watch the highlights, and I am usually sitting at the piano or reading a book while they are on. I can't seem to do just one thing at a time.

Hi Bill
I finally made it over here to check out your PTR! I subscribe to way to many threads on this board and trying to keep up with my own TR is proving to be a full time job. :rotfl2:
Anyway your plans look fabulous, you and your wife are going to have a great time.
Congrats on your decision to go back to school. I did that awhile back and took a medical billing and coding class. I had the same fears as you do but it all turned out fine and I actually had a great time in school again, so much so that I'm thinking about taking some more classes in the near future. I'm sure your experience will be wonderful.
Oh and I had to make a comment about you watching the film Xanadu. My DH and I just watched that a couple days ago. Strange movie but interesting non the less. I am partial to it though because I used to work for the producer's (Lawrence Gordon) wife as a personal assistant. They are great people and Mr. Gordon is a fantastic guy, a total sweetie. (even if he did make a movie like xanadu) :lmao:
Anyway keep up the good work, looking forward to hearing more. :goodvibes
