Hi Bill

I finally made it over here to check out your PTR! I subscribe to way to many threads on this board and trying to keep up with my own TR is proving to be a full time job. :rotfl2:

Anyway your plans look fabulous, you and your wife are going to have a great time.

Congrats on your decision to go back to school. I did that awhile back and took a medical billing and coding class. I had the same fears as you do but it all turned out fine and I actually had a great time in school again, so much so that I'm thinking about taking some more classes in the near future. I'm sure your experience will be wonderful.

Oh and I had to make a comment about you watching the film Xanadu. My DH and I just watched that a couple days ago. Strange movie but interesting non the less. I am partial to it though because I used to work for the producer's (Lawrence Gordon) wife as a personal assistant. They are great people and Mr. Gordon is a fantastic guy, a total sweetie. (even if he did make a movie like xanadu) :lmao:

Anyway keep up the good work, looking forward to hearing more. :goodvibes

When it came out I was eight, going on nine and totally loved the music..I honestly think that's what saved it. And it's about a muse (who inspires) which makes it even more interesting (to me)...The Broadway show has done amazingly well. That's cool you used to work for the producer's wife.

And yes we will have a good time---We can now pay off our Disney trip b/c we GOT OUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! But thank you so much for joining my PTR. I don't subscribe to that many either because it does take such a long time to get through.

Hi! Your trip looks great! You are eating at some of my favorite places!:goodvibes

Thanks..I've been to Teppan Edo (I think it was a different name when I went) And I have been to 50's Prime Time and want to go back. As for the others, well I am looking forward to them.

And now we can pay off our Disney trip..our MONEY IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!! Yes i'm excited!!! Can you tell :rotfl:

I don't so much watch award shows either. Usually, I haven't seen the movies that they are talking about so it doesn't matter that much. The only ones that I really like are the CMAs (yay, Country Music Awards) but even those I only watch the highlights, and I am usually sitting at the piano or reading a book while they are on. I can't seem to do just one thing at a time.

I haven't seen any of the movies--and I'll say it again :) There needs to be an earlier cut off date so people CAN have a chance to watch them. Slumdog Millionaire was actually here in Raleigh back in October and I didn't get a chance to see it. But like you I only catch the highlights.

Hope you're doing well.. We can pay off our Disney trip now!! YAY!!!!

For those of you keeping up with my PTR, I thank you. Keeping up with me is like, well I can't think of anything this early in the morning. But we have our money and will be paying off our WDW SOON!!! like this week or early next. It's a good feeling knowing we can do this and not have to worry.

Also, I've decided to get my mixology license--i.e. bartender so I can make serious money. I know a few bartenders that can work two or three nights a a week and make a ton of money. This is something I really, really want to do and not bakery and pastry arts--that's what I thought. So I'm going to the school this morning to check it out. :) I'll give you an update later.

And again, thank you for those who are keeping up with my PTR..I know it's hard to keep up ALL the time ;)

For those of you keeping score :) I'm going to Bartending School..that's right. Instead of spending $4,000 on tuition and 2.5 years for school, I'm getting my bartender's license..I can make upwards of $2000 a month in this area. We've got a ton of sports bars in the area and hotels too.

Oh last night we went to Best Buy and I bought Friday The 13th 3-D, The Godfather I and II for like $35.00...both Godfather movies were less than $10!!! My DW bought this animated series called Silverhawks So yeah, things are going well :)

Oooo....bartending school, that sounds like fun! Make sure you learn how to make an pineapple upside-down cake shot. I have no idea what is in it...vanilla vodka, pineapple juice, grenadine and something else I think, but it is my ABSOLUT (pun intended) favorite!

That and a midori sour. :)

I have a funny story about The Godfather, can I share? A few semesters ago, I took a class called Issues Management, and we studied how companies, campaigns, and organizations handled issues, both internal and external that crop up and threaten the outcome of projects. Well, in one of the last classes, we talked about issues and how they are handled in organized crime! So, we met with this guy who does a lot of issues management and is a big Godfather fan, and talked about it and watched parts of the movie. We met at his office building (after 7pm, all night classes) in a big conference room, and he brought wine and cannolis. Well, I had just come from a good bye party for a friend, so I had already had two drinks, and my professor, yes, my professor kept refilling my wine glass. I left the class sloshed. I got wasted in class!! And it was condoned by my teacher!Well. Sort of. Seriously, my roommate had to come pick me up. I'm surprised that I even made it through class without embarrassing myself. I do not typically drink like that, so it is very funny. Every time someone mentions The Godfather, I think of that, so I just had to share. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Also - you officially get the honor of my 200th post. :)

I FREAKIN love that movie---When I was like two or three, the book was already out. And my Grandmother (maternal) had a copy of it. Well every time I went over to her house I was so obsessed with that stupid book :) When I was much older, I learned of the movie and watched it...I was literally swept away. The movie came out when I was like three or four months old, so I have a personal connection to the movie.

That story is absolutely funny...Why would your professor let you drink like that? Just kidding. The cannoli's (sp) is just too funny too!!!

Thanks!!! I FREAKIN love The Godfather it came out when I was like three or four months old so I have a personal connection with it as well as the book. It's a classic (almost three hours) but worth watching. Plus it has Al Pacino...so that's a plus.

And yes it's going to be awesome being a bartender...I will be licensed and can bartend in any state that I know of. I'll be at one of the bars at Epcot telling them how to fix my drink LOL or I'll be ordering a Hairy Navel LOL

I'm finally caught up on your report, again. :rolleyes1 You mentioned the Oscars and not watching. I don't watch either. I feel that the stars recieve enough attention throughout the year. I don't really care what they're wearing, how much it cost, or what party they are going to afterwards. Not interested. Like a pp stated, half of the movies that are nominated for awards, I haven't even heard of.
Congrats on deciding on a career path. I've been contemplating going back to school myself. Something in health care.

I'm glad you're all caught up. And as for the Oscars, I'm like you--I could care less what they're wearing or who their with!!!

As for school, I am getting my bartender license---This will help pay the bills and jumpstart something. And I might not go back to get my bakery and pastry arts degree. If I'm making enough with bartending, I'll stick with that :)

I am sooo looking forward to getting started. It was like, "This is what I really want to do." In NC you have to be licensed to serve alcohol. Not sure that it's like in other states. But I'm taking the professional course so I can work private events and weddings.

This will give me extra money to put towards our down payment on our house. I'm sure by the end of this year or early next year we'll be moving. My DW has been in this town house 9 years, going on 10. And I've been here five!! So it's time to go.

Today we talked about it and decided to take a day off our trip. We'll be checking in on the 15th and checking out on the 23rd. It's saving some money which is fine. We can do something around the area before going to Disney.

Last night, we bought a Nintendo Wii!!! and I LOVE it!!! We got the Wii Fit as well--lucked up on that one. I've been playing some today and my arms are SOOOOO sore!!

I start bartending school on Monday--excited about that too :)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Bartending sounds great!! You definitely make a LOT of money in that area of work. I used to cocktail before I got pregnant, during the pregnancy, and for a little while after. I made REALLY good money and didn't have to work 5 days a week.

I totally don't want to be a Debbie Downer though, but just a forewarning. They have those bartending schools here and most bars I have worked in completely frown on them and it doesn't actually give you a leg up. Here, they like to promote from within rather than hire an outside bartender. The EVENTS they offer you are REALLY good money, but it may be a pain to find a job at an actual sports bar or pub with little experience in the field. Then again, I don't know how your bars are there- but we have two really big bar areas here and they are so busy that they prefer seasoned bartenders. Either way good luck!! Hope I didn't come off mean or rude or anything!

Oh trust me..you aren't being rude or anything :) Trust me. There's only one bartending school here in Raleigh. And there are a TON of bars. We've got at least fifteen or twenty sports bars, hotels, restaurants. And the events (like weddings) you can make a ton of money too.

This place helps you find a job, but of course doesn't gaurantee anything. I'm a little worried about it but think it will work out just fine. I want to start out small and work my way up. And I love the idea of not working five days a week :)

We wouldn't have gotten one if my DW didn't get her workers comp. check...She signed the papers on Election Day and got the check on Wednesday if that tell you anything. If it hadn't of been for that, trust me we wouldn't have bought a Will either.

Thanks for the bartending thing..I'm really excited about it. I'll be at Epcot telling them how to make the drinks :)

I tell you though it's a lot to learn in such a short time. Good thing about it though, we don't have to finish in two weeks. We can take as long as we want. Besides, I want to know all my drinks well enough to pass the speed test.

And for those of you who know I'm in bartending school...well it's been another hectic day but managed to get through it. We've learned 42 drinks with a lot more to go. I need to know exactly what they put in margaritas that make them taste so good when you order them out but I can't make one taste like that no matter what mixer I buy........lol.

Don't get the margarita mix...it's not the real stuff. It's an ounce of Tequila, .5 oz of Triple Sec, 1/8 of Roses Lime juice and 2.0 ounces of sweet and sour. And you can have it frozen or salted!!! :)

Yeah that's easy for you to say :) What's in a Banshee? What's in a Grasshopper? LOL. Right now i'm studying my butt off..On drink number 10 and a LONG ways to go.

Um...a banshee is creme de banane, creme de cacao, and cream - not to be confused with a Screaming Banana Banshee--banana liqueur, vodka, creme de Cacao, cream, and you must top it off with a cherry
A grasshopper is (this one you told me!) green creme de menthe, white creme de menthe and cream

;)

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...(and by swimming, I mean studying!) You should make flash cards!

I've got flash cards :) And I have acronyms too!!! Today we learned about the drinks I mentioned in my PM..the RHS ;) and Surfer On Acid...Oh we learned about this drink called the Cement mixer!!! You HAVE got to come to my bar to find out what this one is ;)

That depends....do you put rum in it? And do you use lemon juice or lime juice with the Bailey's? No idea about this alleged Surfer on Acid shot though!!

It's in two different shot glasses--- 1 oz. of baileys and one drop of roses lime juice...swallow them at the same time and swish them around ;)

This studying is making my head spin I tell ya :)

Yeah...I've been to a lot of Bachelorette Parties....lots of different shots. I've seen that one several ways. Usually it's just changing between lemon or lime juice, but once I saw it with 151-proof rum as well! That really will make your head spin!! Anyway, get back to the cards!

June hours are released!!!! That's right. I checked the Disney Website and June hours are posted--up through June 22nd that I know of. So now let the planning begin!!! Right now I'm letting the hours all soak in and see which days we go to which park...Does that make sense?

Oh and it SNOWED here in NC--yes, snow in March...can you believe it? Just a few days ago it was 70 degrees. And now we've got three inches of snow on the ground. Now don't get me wrong, I like to see it fall but don't like to drive in it. Hopefully it won't stay around long :)

Sorry to hear about all the snow, that is crazy how much everyone is getting on the east coast. I hope it doesn't make its way in to far I am getting sick of snow. Glad to hear bartending school is going well, that is a lot of drinks to learn. I don't think I could do it.

How is class going? I know you will be glad when it is all finished. But, would you really want to go out and celebrate with a drink :rotfl2:? I figured out how to make a good margarita :cool1:. Now, I just need to find out what other kind of drinks to use the triple sec in....lol. Your countdown is getting on down in numbers too.

Class is going really well--so far we've learned 60 drinks and have about thirty more or less..can't remember. I'm taking my time on this, so I know all the drinks.

You can make a bunch of drinkw with Triple sec--depends on what you want to make :)

I plan on updating my PTR pretty soon. I wanted to wait a few days and let everyone catch up, but seems lately no one has responded. I can understand though b/c it's so hard to keep up with the others.

It is hard to keep up. Sometimes it gets dishearting when no one is responding, but I still keep on posting away :surfweb:. It is just fun to post and it seems to make my vacation planning last longer and that is alot of the fun of the vacation.
