I, like Marita, have been swamped like crazy in work. So what a treat to finally make it here and to get TWO GB updates in one day!:thumbsup2

I love 'Ohana, too, especially that scrumptious bread pudding. In fact, I do NOT have ADRs there for my upcoming trip and I'm a little verklempt about it. Just a little, though. It's a short trip so I can't expect to hit everything ;) (We are hitting Cali Grill, Tutto Italia, Rose & Crown, Cat Cora's new place @ the Boardwalk, Brown Derby lunch for my beloved cobb salad and a couple of others too. Not bad for a four nighter!)

I continue to be in awe of your family's energy level. My family is all in bed early most WDW nights. All that walking and running around, and even all that FOOD, really wipes us out. Even my teenagers! We are kinda sorta early birds though, so I guess it balances out. All the pictures, as usual, were great. Your girls are so precious.

Hope you are enjoying a great Labor Day weekend, GB! Looking forward to hearing more....

I laughed when I saw the "Donald's Butt" title! My son had a Donald's Butt experience (different setting) on our last trip too...

I couldn't help but snap a picture of him laughing at Donald's Butt when the tail end decided to rest on our breakfast table!

Wow! I can't believe you made it that late with the kids, and bellies full of 'Ohanas - that kind of meal puts me to sleep! Bravo to you though, you did so much that night!

Great Update. Can't believe how late your kids made it before crashing. Oh and I especially love the Donald's Butt reference for Phillarmagic (sp). Such a cute ending to the show, literely! :rotfl:

I mentioned in the Season 7 preview that we scored some leftover party swag and brought it along for the trip. We wound up with leis for all three kids, and matching floral hair clippie thingamadoos for the girls. Tracy found some matching flowered dresses and the ensemble was complete.

About the time our salad hit the table, the coconut race was announced. WOOHOOO. The kids all ran up and grabbed their brooms and coconuts and prepared for the grand prix. For those who haven’t been to ‘Ohana, the premise is fairly simple. The kids get a coconut and whack it with an miniature broom around the aisle of the restaurant.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/100_1221.jpg

Then IT arrived. Oh you know what IT I’m talking about. Hot, gooey, sweet fluffy goodness that you just want to wrap around your tongue like a winter coat and never take off. I’m referring of course to the infamous ‘Ohana bread pudding.

The girls are ADORABLE in their outfits! I love the coconut race picture, I've heard about it but never seen a picture. Good to know about the 20 minutes in between courses and 5 courses...I'll need to remember that if I ever get one of the coveted pagers myself!

I love Pandora. Of all the free internet applications that have come down the pipe, this one ranks right up there among the best. While looking over photos from the trip, I’ve been listening to film scores the past coupel of days and I have to say that it’s a great way to relive memories. The next time you are feeling nostalgic, pull out the photos of your kids meeting their favorite characters while the main title from Forest Gump is playing. Or look at a photo of yourself hurrying to a dining reservation while listening to The Last Starfighter.

So there you go. A little glimpse into the odd mind of yours truly.
I am a huge Pandora fan. It never occurred to me to make a composer station. Thank you for your ramblings, I very much enjoyed reading your update to the theme from Jurassic Park.

What did we think of the show? We all LOVED it. Especially Hailee. She laughed the entire time. Not just giggling either, the child was having full on, gut busting, waves of laughter. At one point I worried she’d laugh herself into an asthma attack. This wound up being her favorite Magic Kingdom attraction. She had a favorite in every park. If you ask her what her favorite attraction of the trip was she bounces between them, but more often than not, usually picks Philharmagic. Which, by the way, she refers to as not as Mickey’s Philharmagic, but as “Donald’s Butt”. If you’ve seen it, think final effect. It certainly makes for interesting conversation when discussing our trip with people. “What was your favorite thing Hailee?” “Seeing Donald’s Butt!” That’s my girl!

Coming up on Episode 65 – Paradise Lost

I love it! You did so much, I'm so jealous, what a wonderful evening on all accounts pink teacups and dumbo hats and all!

Whoa!! awesome update! I agree with about John Williams, I have heard so much of his music and LOVE it. I got to hear the Olympic fanfare while watching the beginning of the Olympics live. I also agree with Hailee on Philharmagic. It's the best thing in MK. Maybe even the whole World. :)

I have spent many an anxious moment, trying to scout out the competition and devise strategies to get to the purple Dumbo, or blue teacup for my girls.

That's why I love Triceratop Spin -- the cars are all green!

Oh, my, 'Ohana looked wonderful! I have it down for this trip and I can't wait. I think you were lucky with the spacing of your courses; I keep reading about people's complaints that the food just keeps coming on top of each other. I don't care either way--how can you complain that your appetizers are there with your salad? Fill that plate up!After I had time to digest it, literally, I liked having a bit longer. It was nice having a relaxing, air conditioned break from the heat. I too had heard the horror stories of rushed meals, but we never encoutered it during our stay.

The kids looked absolutely ADORABLE in their Hawaiian outfits! Thanks!

I love the kids' Birnbaum, but I've never purchased the adult edition (well, that didn't sound right...). I got the best guide on sale at B&N for 4.99, The Complete Walt Disney World 2008, that's all in color and packed with lots of in depth information about the parks, rides and details. It has a daily plan for each park (not as detailed as the UG) and I love the pictures! Just a great read for when you're missing Disney. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check it out.

And another great installment. It made me wish I could stay awake till 3 a.m.! We are the opposite family, up at dawn and ready to go to bed with the two year olds on vacation! :lmao: We have made it till midnight at MNSSHP. It sounded like you had a blast on this night and the kids looked happy in every picture. We definitely had a blast!

Don't feel guilty about nana's pictures--I love the one of you all flying over London! Disneyland's FL is great; lots of the rides go from scene to scene with just your vehicle in them and doors closing behind. We got pictures in Mr. Toad's and Alice that I did not have to feel guilty about!:thumbsup2Oh I'm not too guilty! I'm acutally glad we have them.

Wow, I had no idea the Spectromagic composer also did the score for The Passion of Christ. Thank you for that trivial tidbit. Actually, looking at the list of other score compositions: Princess Diaries, Hanna Montana, maks me wonder what Mel heard that made him decide, "this is the guy!". I mean, don't get me wrong, these movies had good music. Just a little snappy and upbeat for the execution of our saviour, wouldn't you think? I was a bit impressed by his stylistic range myself. Some of his other credits include White Fang, Cutthroat Island, The Relic, Elf, The Emperor's New Groove, Aliens in the Attic, the upcoming Iron Man 2.

Anywho, great entry, and wonderful pictures as always. Your girls sure do look like little bundles of energy. The kids always look so tired in our Disney pictures. Yet there your girls are grinning and beaming at 3:00 in the morning. It helps that both girls are night owls. We also didn't do any turbo touring and pretty well kept the pace intentionally slow.

I'm glad you got to see Wishes, even if it was in a bad location. It would be too much if a shame to miss it entirely.Me too!

Hey, GB, sorry to ask you a technical question, but seeing as you're a computer guy and seem to have this trip report thing down ...
I'm working on my first trip report and I'm just wondering how to update the title on the thread when I add new entries. I know it's probably a stupid question. It seems that everyone knows how to do it but me, but I just can't figure it out... Thanks!!!!!!! I super-duper appreciate it. Sorry to hi-jack your TR with a stupid question.

Go to the original post or 1st posting. Hit the edit button. There will be a button that says advanced. Click on that. It will then list your title at the top and you can go in and edit/update it. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it! Off to give it a try...Thanks for pinch hitting Jordan!

GB -

Thank you. For the first time, I have an idea of what Peter Pan LOOKS LIKE. Thank you, Nana! (?)

Let the flames on that one proceed. Our pleasure!

WOW. I am so impressed with the girl's stamina - I am an early bird, my husband is a night owl - hard to reconcile, but we make it work. (I drag him out of bed;))

I am AWED by your parenting. I think it is really smart to tell your girls that "You can't always get what you want" (Cue french horns here )- but I sure am glad Pixie dust made sure they got what they needed! They did great! It helps that we are all wired the same.

How is everyone doing?Doing well, thanks!

Wow, what an amazing night at MK! Hopefully you all get to sleep in the next day!

DeniseWe did...much to our cullinary demise!

Don't forget Nightmare Before Christmas, which I love for the music just as much as anything!Good point!

Indeed, it does. We tried to leave w/a stroller during Spectro. We were in Tomorrowland, so we had to navigate 2/3 of the parade route with 6 adults & a stroller. Not fun times! Not fun at all!

I was so excited to see an update!! What a fantastic EMH you all had!! Dumbo and Peter Pan with short to non existing waits!!! Wow!!!:cool1: It was

Only 2 weeks and 2 days until our trip, but we are the rope drop crowd as the kids get up early and pass out by 10 or 11 the latest!Awesome! Have fun!

It's the same for DH and I. I was patient at WDW in April since he had never been, but I've already threatened to leave him in the room when we go to DLR next month since he knows that place like the back of his hand and won't get lost ;)LOL. I tend to be more of a park commando than Tracy. I DID find a way to help feed the inner park beast though...long about day 7 I believe.

Loved the update! I knew what Donald's Butt would be before I read it! It's the only 3D show I like, and actually, I love it.I was mighty impressed by it. I have to say it's one of my new fav's.

Question about Dumbo. You mentioned you are not a spinning ride person and skipped the tea cups. How is Dumbo for you? DH doesn't do spinning either and consequently, I haven't been on Dumbo in years. :sad2: He hasn't had a bad experience, but he doesn't want to risk it. I personally would rather he risked it, but maybe a little extra encouragement would help? He can ride anything else, but absolutely nothing that goes in a circle.Dumbo wasn't bad for me, but I'd hate to be the cause of another man's digestive instabilities!

I, like Marita, have been swamped like crazy in work. So what a treat to finally make it here and to get TWO GB updates in one day!:thumbsup2Glad you had a moment to stop by! It's always good to have you aboard.

Even my teenagers! We are kinda sorta early birds though, so I guess it balances out. All the pictures, as usual, were great. Your girls are so precious.Thanks. Hope you are enjoying a great Labor Day weekend, GB! Looking forward to hearing more....You too! It was nifty!

Wonderful update!

3 AM?? Whoa! That is SOME touring! Glad your little ones could make it that long, they got to do a lot of the park without the stress and hassle of having 4 million others compete. But I'll bet it was tough burning the candle at both ends, and I'll venture a guess you all slept in long and hard the next morning!

Our drama was over at the Carousel. One of my little darlings just had to have Cindy's horsie. Wouldn't you know it?! The cutoff happened just in front of us, so we too, were first in line. :woohoo:

I guess I'd have to say, that PHarm. was my kids favorite at MK- even my then, 17 year old. Everything in that attraction just comes together for a perfect presentation.

Nice job, GB!! Pix are fab. as always.

The past few days, my go-to station has been John Williams radio. You may not know the name...
I do, I do!!
Williams is a film composer and is arguable one of, if not THE best composer in the relatively short history of the medium.
::yes::

Also, Hans Zimmer's scores make my toes curl. :thumbsup2
I let Tahli “drive” and I learned something. I’m going to need a second job to pay for the insurance when she’s a teenager.

It makes me smile to think about it.

Hey everyone. Sorry for the long delay. We are "restructuring" at work which basically means they realized that after the layoffs, there was more work than people so everything is being reorganzied. Which I actually like as I hate sitting around waiting for somethign to break. Any special projects I can get to pass the time are nifty in my eyes.

We were out of town on Labor Day weekend. We took the girls to San Antonio and met my parents and Lynnlee's family. (Re-uniting Preston, Tahli, Hailee, Nana, Papa, First Lady Biscuit and myself and adding Sister Lynnlee, BIL Chris and new nephew Cooper.) We did the whole riverwalk / Sea World thing and everyone had a blast!

This past weekend we were working on getting all of the centers in Tracy's classroom setup. This coming Saturday we have a birthday party in the morning, a 5 hour seminar at church, and a family movie outing in the evening. All of which means that life has been and continues to be CRAZY BUSY. :laundy:

OH, and some friends from church left for The World today, (in fact they should be landing at MCO like RIGHT NOW), so I've been helping them plan out their itenerary and dining as well. (All part of the friendly service at GreatBiscuit's World Tours.)

ANYHOW. I hope to have an update typed up today, and the photos either uploaded to Photobucket either late tonight or in the morning. SO, look for a post sometime between midnight tonight and noon tomorrow.

Until then, take care my friends and I'll catch up with you all soon!

Edited to say - I see my post count finally broke 1000...after 12 years. Nifty. It's nearly tripled since I started this little narrative. I guess one could see that as both a good thing or a bad thing. I'm gonna go with good though. Because I've gotten to know some great folks here and love interacting with y'all. :grouphug:

Enjoy all those real life moments- especially those with family!

Glad there is enough work to keep who's left busy! A future with layoffs as a possibity cannot be fun!

Oh GB, we miss you here!!

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. :flower3: Thanks and :welcome: BTW.

I love this! Every TR has to have at least one picture of the ducks. Mind you mine has a montague. (Thanks DS) You are a man after my DS's heart. He loves him some ducks for some reason. :lmao: I knew you’d get a kick out of it!

I am working my way through all the updates I've missed!

Man your gone for a minute and you just miss a ton! Ok....maybe more than a minute....well ok....a move to a new town and travel for a new job....and ok maybe 2 months. But anyway...I'm catching up and even starting to post to my own TR again! I promise I will finish it before it's aniversary.I’m just glad you made it back this way. Hopefully the gap between posts won’t be quite this long in future installments.

Greetings friends! I apologize for the severe delay in posting. It has been a wild and wacky month thus far. Quick life update - I am in the same department, but have a completely different job now. Basically I work with other reps now instead of customers. (If you are familiar with call center jargon, it’s an SME/IHD role.) Tracy is finally getting her room like she wants it at school. Hailee is loving Kindergarten, and Tahli is having a stellar year in 2nd grade.

I’m hoping things will settle down a bit now. Every time I have attempted to sit down to work on an update, something would invariably come up to pull me away. Yet I knew that eventually, I could pick up where we left off. It’s a good thing too. Because the best part about writing this all out is remembering the joy and blessing that the trip was for us.

Thanks for hanging in there during the gap! And now, on with the show! First a disclaimer. Le Cellier is dark. Very dark. Point and shoot digital cameras don’t play well in there. Thus, there are fewer photos this time around. Now on with show…again.

When last we left our heroes, they had triumphantly conquered EMH and were returning to the quiet comfort of the Pop Century. Amazingly, there were people sitting around the pool at 3:30 in the morning. Wow. Maybe it was jet lag, I don’t know. We stumbled our way up to the room, each carrying a sleeping bundle of joy. I convened a brief summit to coordinate our plan of attack for the following day. Having virtually memorized every facet of the trip prior to our departure, I recalled that our dining reservation was for lunch at Le Cellier at 1:30 PM. I made arrangements to meet up with the kin folk and we all crashed. HARD. The kind of sleep where you don’t even dream. You just fold into a mound of exhausted flesh and rattle the roof with raucous snoring. This was the only morning I didn’t wake up at least once to the sounds of “pool play” outside the window.

Minor digression. I loved the convenience of our location, and I was able to fall back to sleep pretty easy. BUT if you are a light sleeper and plan to sleep past about 8ish, I’d double think getting a room that faces the Hippy Dippy. It’s a loud place. But it’s a fun place too. End of digression

The next morning, we slept as late as we dared and fought to shake the EMH from our eyes. Had we been headed any place other than Le Cellier, I would have said Fuh-get-about-it and rolled over with a snort back into a state of blissful slumber. But this was a day long looked forward to. I had been reading about this restaurant in TR’s for years. When I first began to read reviews of the quiet, quaint little eatery in Canada that no one every went to, I thought they sounding interesting. Then as time went by, the reviews got better and I knew it was a must do. Then reviews got worse, then better, then worse, then mediocre. At that point, I didn’t care. I loved the sound of the menu and had to see it for myself. The fact that I had enjoyed Mama Melrose (another poorly reviewed eatery) was helping to stoke that stomach driven fire.

It didn’t take long until the ole park juices were flowing and we were ready to hit the road. With our 1:30 res time, 1:15 check in, I figured we needed to be at the gates of Epcot by 1:00 PM. Yet due to sunscreen delays and an uncooperative shoe, we arrived at the bus stop at 12:50 which began to make me nervous. I was even more nervous when I discovered the Epcot queue was empty. That could only mean one thing. The bus pulling out of the drive must have been an Epcot bus.

We waited, and waited and waited some more. I was really getting antsy by this point. At 1:10 a bus finally pulled in. I figured, okay, Epcot was close, we may be able to load quick, book it through the park, and still MAYBE get seated. Then the bus started lowering. This of course meant an ECV had to be unloaded. Then another had to be loaded and then the herd of guests in the queue had to be loaded. By the time the bus left it was 1:23. NOT a good sign.

I decided to try to see what our options were so I pulled out “The Plan” notebook so I could call Disney Dining with our reservation number and discovered something SHOCKING. HORRIFYING. Downright gut wrenching. Our Dining reservation was NOT at 1:30 as my EMH fried brain cells had recalled. It was at 1:00 PM. My poor fat little heart almost burst at that point. This was a restaurant I had wanted to try for YEARS. And now, thanks to a rusty memory and lousy bus timing, we were going to be arriving nearly an hour past due at one of the most difficult tables to score in all of Disneydom. GREAT BISCUITS A BURNIN!

Reminding myself that panicking was not a productive endeavor, I went ahead and called Disney Dining for direction. The lady who answered was fairly certain that Le Cellier would give us the boot and suggested Le Chefs De France as an alternative. They had several openings left so I advised her I would call back later, but for now, DON’T CANCEL MY RESSIE.

We finally arrived at Epcot, made the incredibly long walk to the baggage check desk, and then did the DIS-Boards Hustle through Future World towards the Canada pavilion. You know the step…the one that is not quite a run, yet not exactly a leisurely stroll either.

It was hot. I was sweating. I was tired. I was carrying Tahli and my backpack. It was really hot. I was anxious. I was irritated at myself. I was sweating. It was infernally hot. I was in pain. Prospects of death flashed before my eyes. I was sweating. I had spotted the sign for the place a couple of days before on way to the Friendships so I was good to go on navigation. I can’t tell you the relief I felt when finally we saw this:

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01238.jpg
(Sony Cybershot DSC-S700, Auto Mode)

Yet the relief was mixed with agitation and uncertainty. I was discouraged to see them turn away three different walk up groups ahead of us.

The CM who checked us in asked how he could help us. I gave him my info, told our sad story (which may have been embellished with tales of rescuing orphans and stopping a wayward meteor) and then threw myself upon the mercy of the court. He did some official looking computer clacking, stared at the screen, clacked some more, scowled, said “I’ll have to talk to the manager,” grabbed a radio, said “hold on” and then left.

Now my question is, if you have a radio, why do you need to go anywhere to talk to somebody? But I digress. A few minutes later he came back and said “We can seat you, if you don’t mind waiting 45 minutes.” Mind? DUDE! It would take me that long to schlep my exhausted super-sized derriere over to France and get a table there. I had the urge to give him a bear hug and yell “I LOVE YOU MAN!” but I wasn’t sure how they take that sort of thing in Canada.

I figured with time to kill and bad park planning to atone for, the best way to make it up would be to grab everyone’s park tickets and hike over to the Land to score some Soarin Fastpasses. I immediately set out on my quest and when I arrived at the Land, I discovered the return time was 6:30. Which at 2:00 PM seemed both odd and exhilarating. That is until I heard the cast member bellowing out that the machines were down. That was when the phone rang. Tracy told me they were being seated. NOW. Less than 10 minutes after being told it would be 45. Without me. In direct violation of the known laws of Disney Dining “all parties must be present” protocol. For the second time this trip. Hold on Ethel, I’m heading back to ya!

And so for the second time in a short time, I found myself doing the DIS-Boards Hustle through Future World towards the Canada pavilion. It was still infernally hot. I was still trying to wake up. I had gone beyond sweating to leaving a slime trail like some giant Cowboys jersey-wearing mutated snail. (Yeah…that was TMI…I know…but it’s too late now.) It was all good though because I was heading to Le Cellier where there was a chair with my name on it. (Sorry about that….you know kids and crayons.) Soon I would be in Air Conditioned bliss and there would be drink in my cup and meat on my table. After dodging various clumps of fellow park guests and sidestepping a menagerie of strollers, I managed to hurl myself into the restaurant in record time. (For me anyway.) My crew had given me their general lcoation and I quickly found them.

I was thrilled to find an iced tea waiting on me and quickly downed in about a gulp and a half. I didn’t have a camera ready, but I’m pretty sure I saw clouds of steam hissing out as the ice cold tea went in. Once I had regained my breath and composure, it was time to get down to business. I looked at the menu more for something to do than to decide upon my order. I already knew what I wanted. I had know for months, nay even years.

When our server arrived, I requested a bowl of Cheddar Cheese Soup and Filet Mignon.

I mentioned earlier in this narrative that I am big fan of Beer-Cheese soup. (At least I think I did. I’m getting old and these sorts of things are difficult to recall at times.) I first tried it when Tracy and I ate at Café Odyssey at the Mall of America in Minneapolis for our third anniversary. (It went out of business shortly afterwards so I’m not really sure how to take that.) Anyway, since that first bite, I was hooked. Even though I’m not a beer drinker, the stuff makes fantastic soup. Not to mention crab boil, grilled chicken and deep-fry batter. I’m digressing again aren’t I?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, (which was definitely NOT the Biggest Loser ranch) the hot bread had just arrived. The Pretzel bread was OH-so tasty good, as was the rest. Eventually our soup made its way to the table. I was almost afraid to try it. So many people had bemoaned the degradation in food quality at this place. It was hard to know whether the place would live up to my lofty expectations. Would it be a victory or a bitter defeat? It was truly a frightening proposal. Yet the best way to overcome our fears is to face them head on. So, for the sake of stabilizing my mental health, I loaded up a spoonful, took a bite, and smiled quietly to myself.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01219.jpg

Maybe it was because I had never been to Le Cellier and thus had no prior comparison, maybe it was because it’s been a while since I had a good bowl of cheese soup, I can’t really say. All I know is, I liked it. In fact, I’d even go so far as to say I REALLY liked it. In fact I’ll just lay all the cards on the table and tell you I loved the stuff. Which only goes to prove one thing. When it comes to food, taste is subjective. As is fashion….to a point.

Before too terribly long the entrees arrived. The kids all went with pizza, sad I know. Nana and I each chose the Filet Mignon while Tracy and Papa each went for the New York Strip. The Filet was paired with a wild mushroom risotto and I must say both were fantastic. It did require a little salt, but I’m perfectly fine with that. I’d rather have to add a bit more than have it arrive over salted.

The New York Strip came with roasted Yukon potatoes.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01220.jpg
(Sony Cybershot DSC-S700, Auto Mode)

Oddly enough, no one at our table liked the potatoes. Don’t know if they were having an off day or what, but they had a really odd seasoning. The steak itself was good though and Tracy and Papa both enjoyed theirs. (I may have helped with some plate cleaning on Tracy’s….purely as a gesture of good husbandry you understand.) If I had to choose between the two cuts, I would go with the Filet as the hands down winner. That bad boy was ROCKIN baby. And I wasn’t the only one who thought so. For some odd reason, Tahli decided that my Filet Mignon was much better than her pizza (the crazy kid) and took to hawking bites. Throw in the risotto and it’s a slam dunk.

Happily polishing off the main course, it was time to contemplate a most serious undertaking. Namely, dessert.

When I made the reservation, I included the girls birthday’s. When dessert arrived, they each received a special birthday ice cream plate.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01226.jpg
(Sony Cybershot DSC-S700, Auto Mode)

Preston received a similar platter, but without the writing.

Tracy ordered the Campfire Smores.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01230.jpg
(Sony Cybershot DSC-S700, Auto Mode)

Which Tahli quickly claimed.
http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01231.jpg
(Sony Cybershot DSC-S700, Auto Mode)

I went with the sorbet, I think. Nana had the crème brule, while Pappa elected to sample the chocolate moose.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/100_1265.jpg

All in all I have to say it was a great meal. I know not everyone is feeling the joy for Le Cellier, but for us, it was an all around hit. I would definitely eat here again, Lord willing and the creek don’t rise. It was on my top 3 of the trip.

The restaurant is definitely small, as is the restroom. Oh and if you were waiting on the stall, sorry about that. There was a certain Disboard tradition involving the Canada pavilion that just had to be honored. :moped:

Now that I'd love to see. Preferably on YouTube. The image of a bear hug, "I love you man" and LeCellier has me grinning like an idiot. You crack me up!

I can only imagine the sheer relief. There is nothing worse than being trapped in transportation trying to meet a deadline. Disney or otherwise!

Good to have you back, GB! I'm glad to hear that things are settling back into place again.

Ya know, it's kinda nuts the way that WDW has forced everyone into this dining plan frenzy. I mean, I LOVE to eat and I routinely plan my days around meal times because the world may actually come to an end if I somehow managed to miss a meal. But, I also love to take my WDW vacation as it comes. Luckily, for each of our four trips, DH and I have always visited WDW during the off season, so we've never once made a reservation or waited more that just a few minutes to get a table. We just walked up to whatever was close when we got hungry. But, with all that I've read lately, it sounds like that type of touring is a thing of the past. It's a real bummer. :sad2:

Anyway. I'm very happy to hear that Le Cellier lived up to your expectations. Looking forward to the next update! :)

We had good luck getting squeezed in when we were late once too! Mind you it was the wave and not le cellier. Awesome! I don’t know if it’s some sort of rule or if they were just being all magical and stuff, but I was definitely happy.

I do love that soup! GOOOOD stuff.

Love Le Cellier. It was worth every drop of sweat to get there!Amen sister!

This is why TR's exist, to stretch out the magic. I'm glad to hear things have settled at work and all the girls are doing well. I’m def milking this trip for all the magic it’s worth.

Now that I'd love to see. Preferably on YouTube. The image of a bear hug, "I love you man" and LeCellier has me grinning like an idiot. You crack me up! See now you’re putting evil genius ideas in my head. Hmm…have to work that angle next trip around.

I can only imagine the sheer relief. There is nothing worse than being trapped in transportation trying to meet a deadline. Disney or otherwise! That is for sure!

You have some pretty amazing Disney Dining karma! Someday I'll go here but not this next trip. there is something about August heat and a big steak dinner that isn't working for me. Mama Melrose though we are going to try for...if the fantasmic gods are willing. Hope you get the MM Fantasmic!

Okay, I posted and it isn't here???:confused3 Well, I'm re-posting! I'm sorry that Biscuit was not in top form, EMH overload perhaps? I'm glad that you got to Le Cellier, one of my favorites. I've been there twice and have really enjoyed it both times, so I'm really glad you enjoyed it for the most part. That pic of Tahli snagging the s'more was one of those priceless pics!:lmao:Sorry your post vanished. That’s a bummer! You have to love it when the kids grab all your goodies.

:sad2: I remember from early trips when you could just stop at guest services to get a table at any rest you wanted. On our honeymoon, we walked into Tony’s and the place was virtually empty. I guess one thing the Dining Plan does well is keep the restaurants working at capacity.

Yay, an update! Mmm, that cheese soup looks good. My husband's lactoseintollerant so those types of dishes are rare treats for me. I love the presentation on the desserts. That chocolate moose is adorable. I'm so glad it all worked out for you.You gotta getcha some! It is MMMMMMMMMMM-tasty!

YAY!

I had gone beyond sweating to leaving a slime trail like some giant Cowboys jersey-wearing mutated snail. (Yeah…that was TMI…I know…but it’s too late now.)

You never fail to make me laugh out loud! :rotfl:

Glad to hear all is well in the Biscuit Family. I hope you are enjoying your new position. I was recently told I was an SME for a particular item with our software. I COMPLETELY disagreed! I just act like I know. ;)

Anyway-great update!! We loved LeCellier too and at some point in the future I'll do the ADR dance for it again, it's worth the work it takes to get-even if it means running through Future World TWICE in the blazing hot sun!

Le Cellier is dark. Very dark.
Even during the day? Good to know; I've only ever been after dark. :thumbsup2

I was even more nervous when I discovered the Epcot queue was empty. That could only mean one thing. The bus pulling out of the drive must have been an Epcot bus.
Nooooo!!!! :headache:
Our Dining reservation was NOT at 1:30 as my EMH fried brain cells had recalled. It was at 1:00 PM.
Double NO!!!!! :headache::headache:

The Filet was paired with a wild mushroom risotto and I gotta say both were fantastic.
Yay! :yay: I'll admit that I'm a total filet snob, and the one I had at Le Cell was one of the best I've tried. The recent reports of mediocrity had me worried.

Oh and if you were waiting on the stall, sorry about that. There was a certain Disboard tradition involving the Canada pavilion that just had to be honored. :moped:

Another great update GB! Sorry I'm late to the party. It's been a tough couple of weeks, with, believe it or not, a quick 4 day trip to the World thrown in. The overriding theme of this last trip was HOT SWEATY HUMID HOT HOT HOT, so I was right there with ya on the stressed-filled sweaty trip to Le Cell then The Land then Le Cell again. Ugh. Sorry about the bus delays and the ADR time mistake. But I'm happy they still let you in ;) Love me some pretzel bread, cheddar cheese soup, and filet. Yum. Isn't it amazing that we still go for the soup when we're dying from the heat outside?!?! It's just impossible to pass up, though.

And, yes, Le Cell is dark dark, no matter the time of day. You did well with the photos. I've never been able to get in a good shot in that "dungeon" atmosphere.

Previously on Biscuit’s Grand Adventure, transportation got ugly, tragedy was turned to victory, and a whole mess of goodness was consumed. After lunch, we decided to check out O’Canada. As you may or may not recall from the series premier, my first ever WDW attraction was American Journeys in Circle Vision 360. For some reason, there was something nostalgic and appealing about seeing another Circle Vision presentation. I had never really been in any of the World Showcase Pavilions other than Norway so I wasn’t exactly sure how to get to the place. However, I knew pretty much exactly where the theater was from having stared at an untold number of maps and at Google Earth images.

When we exited the restaurant, we cut left and followed the trail past the waterfalls.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/DSC01235.jpg
(Sony Cybershot DSC-S700, Auto Mode)

Sure enough, in a few minutes, we walked right up to the place. (Which again goes back to that whole dumb luck, SOUNDING like you know more than actually do quip.) The waiting area was air conditioned and bore a striking resemblance to a mine. In fact, I thought this would have been a good holding queue for a Snow White themed show. But they didn’t ask me. So it really doesn’t matter WHAT I think. Where was I? OH the show. Right.

We had about a 10 minute wait for the next show to begin. We grabbed some bench and enjoyed the nice cool wonder of the Canadian Snow White lobby. After a bit, our Canadian hostess welcomed us to the show and advised us to avoid the perils of outward-swinging automatic doors. (Why do they seem to have every stinking door on property swing outward anyway? It seems counter intuitive. The only thing I could think of was for fire issues, so they could be pushed open from the inside. But I mean seriously, if there was a fire would you really want to push open a door to try to flee impending death through a completely filled queue?)

Anyway, the film soon began and we were flying along with Martin Short over the land of our northern neighbors. I actually liked it, but the girls were lukewarm on the concept. Tahli asked me halfway through “Why are we watching a movie at Disney World?” And Hailee wanted to know where we were going. My only thing was that it would have been perfect if it were about 5 min shorter. But, it was still enjoyable. At least it was for me anyway. It could be nostalgia. Could be that I like nature films. And the travel channel. Maybe they needed Samantha Brown. And a random action sequence. I seem to be babbling. I think it was the Martin Short reference that did me in. Moving right along…

After our bird’s eye glimpse of the vast and wondrous land that is O’Canada, we exited the attraction and discovered a KidCot station. If there is one thing the girls both love, it is art; especially when it involves cutting or taping. In our home office, they have their own little art center complete with easel, work table, and 4 drawers filled with construction paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, stickers, blank paper, tape, glue, and all sorts of little odds and ends. They can both spend hours in there. Unfortunately this particular KidCot station was setup outside and it was WAAAAAAY too hot to deal with. Since the girls didn’t notice it, we were able to quickly bypass the festivities with minimal effort.

We had bigger fish to fry as it were. One thing the Biscuit clan gets happy over is the ocean. We love us some sea life. We have season passes to Sea World San Antonio where the girls are always mesmerized by giant Coral Reef aquariums. They had both been looking forward seeing The Seas with Nemo and Friends so our next step was to head back over to Future World. I passed over the bridge for the fifth time that day, only this time, I actually took a moment to look around and breathe it in.

Our pace was much more civilized at this point. It was still hot. Make no mistake, sweating was still occurring. However, as there was no carrying of young-un’s or DIS Boards Hustle involved, it was a much easier walk. I started out at the front of the pack, but wound up bringing up the rear after stopping for a few photos.

Mine!

Rehabs are a funny thing sometimes. There is the excitement of a fresh look, new ideas and all that jazz. But there is also the loss of something familiar; something that connects us to fond memories and past experiences. I don’t remember much of the old pavilion. I was only in it twice. But I did wonder just what changes had taken place. I had to hustle into the place as my seagull photos had left me a bit behind the crew. I didn’t have much time to inspect the queue as there was virtually no line.

We were soon at the omnimover and headed to whatever it is they are calling Sea Base Alpha these days. The kids all rode together in a clam shell and thought it was quite cool that they got to ride by themselves. As for this portion of the ride, the projected characters weren’t my favorite. It was hard to enjoy the real fish with the distraction of the animated variety and vice versa. Upon disembarking, the place really didn’t seem all that different to me. In that respect I guess I wound up with a bit of both worlds, namely the new and the familiar.

We headed up to the observation level to check out the tanks. Our dolphin friend from the honeymoon was not in a playful mood that day and decided it would be a good time to ignore the humans. There were plenty of other nautical beasts though and the kids spent quite a bit of time ooing and ahhing over the various occupants of the tank. I did not remember the portion of the tank where you have the round viewing room. It may have been there all along, and I just forgot. Anyway, this spot was a HUGE hit.

After we were finally done watching the sea critters, we discovered another KidCot station. As this one was blissfully air conditioned, we allowed the kids to commence to decorating.

Preston was done fairly quickly and went off with Nana and Papa to explore some more.

The girls however were just getting warmed up. I knew they would be a while. After a few minutes exploring, Preston was done with Epcot and wanted to go swimming. Nana and Papa headed back to resort while Tracy and I stayed behind with the girls.

They spent another 15 minutes or so working on their projects before we headed into the lab area they have setup on the top level. The girls loved that they got to see the real versions of the Nemo stars. We did some trivia games, checked out some different displays and wandered around a bit.

Heading back downstairs, I looked for the one attraction I KNEW they would love. (Well, knew as in I “theorized” they would love it, as I had never actually seen the thing.) Namely Turtle Talk with Crush. We found our way over the queue area and spent some time watching the rays trying to escape their habitat. That was fun. There were not many people there when we first arrived so by the time the doors opened, we were near the front.

I knew pretty much what to expect from reading the boards, but the girls had no clue what they were going to see. The show started and we all were blown away. It is such a cool concept. Unfortunately the girls didn’t get called on, but they still had a good time. (Which in Hailee’s case is actually a good thing as she is super shy, and would have scowled and given a look of death to anyone trying to talk to her.) We had a great group and the interaction was hilarious.

After Turtle Talk ended, we took a few photos with the sharks.

Before bidding farewell to Nemo and Friends, we stopped by the Manatee exhibit for a moment before checking out “the facilities”. From there we experienced a brief delay in the gift shop before emerging back into Future World. The girls wanted to keep exploring so we headed over to Journey Into Imagination.

This was another attraction I had not seen since it was rehabbed and I wanted to see what they had done to the place. (Nothing good I’m afraid.) There was only about a 5-6 min wait time to get on and when the girls asked what it was, I had to admit that I had absolutely NO idea. Soon it began and I could tell from Hailee’s giggling that she was enjoying it. In fact, she LOVED it. Figment (as the ride was thereafter called by her) was her favorite Epcot attraction. My personal view of it was that it was just okay. Had I not ridden the original, I might have enjoyed it more but I’m going with the majority opinion in saying I’m not crazy about the updates.

I did like the optical bird cage effect and the upside down house. The skunk I could have done without. Okay, sidebar. What is it with Disney and their olfactory assaults? You have Stitch’s chili dogs, Figment’s skunk, & Flick’s stink bug. I have to ask is that really necessary? Can we not get something a bit more pleasant? MUST we assail the noses of those assembled? Soarin oranges? Wonderful! Philharmagic pastries? Divine! Stank-o-rama…not so much. I’m just saying.

Both girls LOVED the sensory exhibits in Image Works. We spent quite a bit of time here. They especially enjoyed playing on the instrument carpet.

We eventually meandered out through the gift shop and Hailee admired several Figment plush dolls. (Which we did not purchase…yeah I know cruel parents.) I called my mom to see what they were up to and arranged a meeting place and time. They were just getting out of the pool so we arranged to meet up at DHS in around 90 min-ish.

The girls had wanted to stop and see the fountain on the way in, but we were in such a rush, we weren’t able to. We made our way back over there and let them watch for a few minutes.

We headed to the front of the metallic orb and got in line. Actually line is a bit of a misnomer as there was virtually no wait. The “line” didn’t begin until you were actually in the loading area and within moments we were boarding.

This was yet another rehab ride that I was looking forward. I didn’t remember much of this attraction at all from the last time I rode as a teenager. This was another one of those attractions where I didn’t really explain it in advance, but we all enjoyed it.

Having seen this particular photo in multiple Trip Reports, I knew I had to take one to add here as well.

My one complaint? The screens fritzed out at the end and we never got to see our futures.

We stopped for a final facilities break on the way out and I sent a quick update to my live TR. As we were walking out, the girls wanted to take some more pictures so I had them pose in the entrance courtyard.

It had been a great day in Epcot, not only for me, but for all of the clan as well. Initially Tracy wasn’t that excited about this particular park. Her sole experience here was from the day of inconvenience on our honeymoon and it was known as home of our first fight. I knew that once we were there though that she would love it. As we were leaving and heading back to the bus stop to transfer to DHS, Tracy told me she had a good time and was starting to see the place in a new light. And that my friends, just made my day.

I love aquariums as well.....I love the Shedd (sp?) Aquarium in Chicago and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The rotunda viewing area has been there forever....FYI.

I miss Dreamfinder and the Original Journey......

O, Canada, the original, though outdated was better....but the AC is heaven.

Don't you love Epcot? MGM used to be favorite until they changed the ambience of the park. I feel like it's lost it's identity. Hopefully, TSM and Pixar Place and the resurgence of the Muppets can reinvigorate the park. AK is now my fave, but something about Epcot....you mention nostalgia...for me I think that's it. Attractions like Spaceship Earth, The Seas, Journey, Universe of Energy still have the essence of the original attraction, but just updated. Sometimes it works out better, sometimes not, but the intangible of nostalgia....

I do have to admit Epcot probably wasn't my favorite place when I went on my trip, but then again I didn't have a whole lot of time to spend there. I thought The Seas was interesting, but if I went again I'd probably go in through the gift shop and just skip the ride.

(Oh, and if you missed it, I updated my TR a few days ago.)

Well, I had a nice tidy reply written up for you, but about 15 minutes into it (which is a lot of typing) I lost my power- and my post. Hate when that happens!

Anyway, here are the highlights:

Love Crush, Dude!

Haven't seen O, Canada but it's on my list of must-dos for Sept. I adored the China show, and imagine it's the same genre/ different scenery.

Hate to admit it, but love the Figment, farts and all. The giggles and smiles it evokes of my kids is priceless!! I hadn't seen the orig. so whatever. I like this one.

Nostalgia... memories of holding Grandma's hand on the old "submarine ride" in Disneyland, and skipping over to the Pirate ride with her. It's those nostaligic memories that make us who we are in some ways.

Sounds like a great day. I'm surprised you actually had a wait for Journey into Imagination. I haven't seen a wait for that ride since about 1994, lol. The old version always had a wait. They must have fixed that instrument carpet. When we were there in May, it was just a place to let Madeline run around. It did't include any sound effects.

I love how your day turned from a mad rush to meandering and taking your time! I also really love seeing all the great inside heat escaping activities.

I think Epcot (FW mostly) is a park that really grows on you, that at first glance isn't all that welcoming or intuitive but slowly, over time, sucks you in! Even in the WS there is SO much going on and yet it's easy to just stroll by it. It is a park that cries out for meandering.

I've seen O'Canada (no idea why the family wanted to see it last time, but whatever) and, although it does focus on the east (as does everything lol), I found the movie quite relaxing - of course, it helps that Martin Short does the narration (love him!). As a Canadian, watching a tourism movie about Canada is kind of weird

Great update, Biscuit.

I'm totally with you on the use of scent in the attractions - it's a great thing, so long as it's used for good rather than for evil.

Now that I've read this update, I think that The Living Seas would rank pretty darn high for my DD. DH and I have breezed thru it before and it was kinda "Yeah, that's cool. What's next?", but I bet that DD would help us to slow down and really take it in now.

Man, I'm looking forward to that trip. I don't know when it is, but I can hardly wait!

I could have happily spent all day doing the backstage tour in the soundstages when something was filming. But alas, those days are forever gone. The place definitely has different vibe to it now. I have to say Epcot climbed to the top for me this trip. I still love the MK, MGM is still a fun park, and I have yet to completely explore AK, but for now Epcot reigns supreme.

The living seas is one of Jimmy's favorites too! HE could spend hours there if I let him. :thumbsup2I like that it is a self-paced attraction. (Once you get off the clam shells that is.) This will definitely stay on our must do list for next time. (Whenever that may be.)

Was there a specific reason you bussed it to DHS instead of taking the boat?Indeed there was. From where we were located, it was about a 10-15 min walk to the boat dock, with an unknown wait time for a boat, with a 40 min ride to DHS. Conversely, the Bus Stop was about a 5-10 min walk, with an unknown wait time, with a 10 min ride to DHS.

Bravo for helping to win over the Mrs. on Epcot! I would call it my second fave park. MK will always reign supreme for me.

On the boat vs. bus talk....TRUST ME you made the right decision. We learned a valuable lesson last weekend. One I'm surprised I haven't learned earlier, as we normally stay at Epcot resorts. The boats are EVIL. EVIL I tell you. They were, despite "air conditioning", total SAUNAS. Claustrophic, hot, sweaty, and S-L-O-W. The trip from one park to the other takes about 30 minutes. They will say 20. I say 30. Both times we tried it (going the other way, DHS to Epcot), we ended up getting off at one of the resorts and hoofing it the rest of the way. It was worth it, even in the heat, to get a little fresh air and to feel like we were actually moving....

Loved to see the girls enjoying a relaxing time in the pavillions! It's often those unplanned, laid back activities that bring the greatest memories!

As you may or may not recall from the series premier, my first ever WDW attraction was American Journeys in Circle Vision 360. For some reason, there was something nostalgic and appealing about seeing another Circle Vision presentation.
Can I just say? It's very cool reading a TR from someone whose first visits happened around the same time period as mine - the 360 movies are totally nostalgic for me, too. I thought they were beyond cool back in the day, so they bring back a little of that childhood experience each time I see them now. :goodvibes

Hi GB!
While i do not disaggree with your opinion on the olfactory assault, i must say Walt wanted Disney to be for "everyone". So in that 'sense' you must tap into your inner young boy/young teenager and know that the stinky smell is hilarious! Smelly things in general.
Or as my mother in law would say "breaking wind is sometimes amusing!"

My kids loved Crush. They weren't chosen either, but i bet crush was sorry he picked one young boy. it is forever known in my house as "the crush incident". Man, hi lar eee ous. Hence this is a family show here on the dis!

Kids these days. They don’t realize how good it is. Why back in my day, there wasn’t some fancy seat to lift you up in the air and make you think you were flying. Our park films weren’t augmented with rushing air and corresponding scents. We had didn’t even have seats for crying out loud. We stood, we liked it, and we were happy by golly!

That's better. Now where was I? Oh yes, GB has informed me that it's time for a "meanwhile back at the ranch" report. First though, I have to echo the praises of the food at Le Cellier - it was amazing! The dessert was to die for but then I think most desserts are pretty fabulous.

After we went through the aquarium, Preston informed us that he was "done" and wanted to go back and swim. Although we wanted to stay and enjoy the adventures with the whole Biscuit clan, discretion is the better part of valor. Not sure what that means, but I knew if we were to enjoy the evening, it was time to bid farewell to Epcot.

We made the 100 mile journey back to the turnstiles to board the bus. I am sure that they moved it after we arrived that morning and installed furnaces in the sidewalk. It was HOT! We did not have to wait long for the bus and soon we were in air conditioned comfort headed back to the Pop. On the way, Papa decided that a nap was definitely in his immediate future. I require very little sleep and do not like to sleep in the middle of the day. It seems like such a waste of precious time.

When we arrived back in our room, Papa promptly claimed his spot on the bed in front of the AC. Preston and I changed into our swim gear, grabbed our mugs and headed back to the pool.

On the way, we went to the food court and filled our mugs with ice cold caffeine. The pool was very full but because it it such a huge pool, it did not seem to be crowded. Preston LOVES to swim and he LOVES to talk. He soon found a friend who shared his passions and they spent the next two hours training dolphins, finding Nemo, riding in submarines and making their own version of the Rapids.

Hey GB!! love your last couple of updates!! And thanks for the boo! I now have a siggie! Thanks! I've been trying to send BOOs to all my readers who are boo-less. I'll have to go through them again when I update next.

I'm trying to post my contribution to the day, but my post count is too low. Fixing that as we speak.:rolleyes1

That's better. Now where was I? Oh yes, GB has informed me that it's time for a "meanwhile back at the ranch" report. First though, I have to echo the praises of the food at Le Cellier - it was amazing! The dessert was to die for but then I think most desserts are pretty fabulous. And again I say :rolleyes1 .

On the way, we went to the food court and filled our mugs with ice cold caffeine. I told you those things were a good thing to buy on our first day.

This week with three of the four most amazing children in the world and their equally amazing parents is something only a grandparent can understand. Cooper, the next time you will join us as well as any other Biscuits that might join the clan. (Not an announcement, just saying ...). I think we've passed the baton to Karlee on that one.

Hurray for Nana Biscuit!:cool1: I love mutli-family member postings!! It makes the TR's fun to read when there are different points of view!

I am glad that you were able to appreciate the pool. When I go, it's usually just a tad too cold, especially since when we're in the parks all day long, then get back to the hotel at night when it's doubly cold!

The pics of Preston are great! I'm glad he was able to find a friend!:goodvibes

We made the 100 mile journey back to the turnstiles to board the bus. I am sure that they moved it after we arrived that morning and installed furnaces in the sidewalk.

:rotfl2:

How many of us have shared that very same thought.

Hmm.. Nana, I like your version of the afternoon, too. I've always had a hard time prying myself from the parks for a swim, but I can see how it would be very rejuvinating. Kudos to you for choosing valor and discretion.

Thanks for the 'back at the ranch' update, Nana Biscuit!

Its so wonderful that you were all able to enjoy this trip together. We LOVED our trips with my parents. They are always saying that trips to WDW with their grandkids top any fancy cruise or other vacation they've been on. I know that it can require a little bit more flexibility and uh, tolerance, but I really, really enjoy taking trips with extended family. Thats what life's all about for me.:)

Two great updates! I'm glad to hear First Lady Biscuit started to warm up to Epcot. :thumbsup2 We love that area with all the fish as well, it's fun to watch the kids' eyes get wide with awe.

Did you know if you have AP's for Sea World, they are good at any Sea World? I learned about that on the DIS Podcast!

Nana, you got a couple great shots of the hippy dippy pool! Sounds like you three also had a relaxing and enjoyable time back at the ranch. Swimming on a summer day in Disney-can't beat it!!!

Did you know if you have AP's for Sea World, they are good at any Sea World? I learned about that on the DIS Podcast! Yes! But we didn’t buy ours until July this year and last year we didn’t renew so alas, we had none with us on the trip. (Not that I would have actually given up any Disney time mind you.)

I appreciate you taking the time to read through the entire TR. It is a lot to take in, that much I'll admit.

A couple of comments.

As to length, back in Episode 1, I did point out that this was a Trip Report for 7 trips, rather than just one. In fact if you read the episode list, you'll realize that this is a report about a total of 22 days spent at The World over the course of 22 years. Given the number of days and trips involved, this TR really isn't all that long by DIS Boards standards.

Do I like to type? Not as such. But I LOVE to write, and I love to read. Was I thinking out loud, not really. In most cases I let an episode sit for a least a day or two, sometimes more before I return to it and do some more updating. That is simply my style of writing. Have there been some one offs where I had to "crank one out"? Sure.

As to the two things you gleamed from reading, may I share "Life's Lesson number 254?" "Never offer unsolicited parenting advice." This of course falls after "Life's lesson number 253" which is "Never fart in a chimney...bad things happen." (So I guess that negates your second observation.)

In all seriousness, you will find that the DIS Boards is about more than simply planning a vacation. It is a place to meet new friends and find a community of folks willing to accept your quirks and like you anyway. If I may offer some advice from an old timer, it's best to only participate in this type of banter with folks you've interacted with before. For some great examples of this, I'd refer you to the completed TR section above. Look for reports by 1000thhappyhaunt and Zzub. (Just know that they may be bit long for your liking)

Finally, there is not a requirement to reply to every thread you read. (Heaven knows I would have had a post count in the tens of thousands if that were so.) Over the past 12 years I've read countless TR's. Many were not my style. The board etiquette is simply to move on to the next topic. If you feel you MUST reply, it's better to do so by Private Message. Not because you are going to hurt the OP's feelings, but so that you don't get flamed by other posters. Remember, it's about community and finding common ground.

I do hope to see you around the boards. Please don't feel that I'm angry or upset. I have thick skin and can take a critique. I just don't want to see someone new to this community being attacked.

So fellow posters, I ask that you please DON'T.

I'm off to church now. (To follow your suggestion of more time with the girls.) Oh, and concerning that, I do have a happy announcement for my next episode concerning my work schedule. But that's getting ahead of myself.

Adios!

Previously on Biscuit’s Grand Adventure, crafts were created, turtles were talking and a most pleasant afternoon was enjoyed. Tonight's episode will be told from two perspectives, mine (designated GB) and Nana's (designated, well, Nana.)

GB: After we finished up at Epcot, it was time to head over the Studios formerly known as MGM. There happened to be a bus pulling up as we got to the holding pen, and within a few minutes we were under way. This particular drive is a fairly short one and we were standing at the front gates of the Studios about 20 minutes after leaving the front gates of Epcot. Not bad AT ALL!

We had arranged to meet my parents at the Backlot Express. I called my mom to see what their ETA was and she advised that they were waiting on a bus at the Pop Century. While Tracy and the girls visited the facilities, I took a gander at the offerings in The Darkroom. I wound up picking up a cleaning cloth for my camera lens. (thanks for tip on that Topdog) Who knows, maybe a Darkroom souvenir is a new Biscuit DHS tradition. (I picked up a camera strap here on our Honeymoon). I showed my spoils of war to the clan and we once again set out towards The Backlot Express. Since we had some time, we made our way slowly down Hollywood Blvd, stopping to check out some of the shops along the way.

It wasn’t too terribly crowded in this portion of the park but it was still HOT. Feeling the need for coolness, we picked up the pace and made our way to the restaurant. This was the third time I have dined in this particular establishment. We visited here on trip number four in 1990, and this was the scene of the "forgotten wallet" lunch from our Honeymoon in 1997. So I guess another DHS tradition has been kept.

We found the spot with relative ease and passed through the doors into the snuggly joys of air conditioning. The place looked different than I remembered. I’m not sure why exactly. To my knowledge there hasn’t been a major rehab. I just remembered it differently. The mind is a funny thing. (Well, mine is anyway.) The place was virtually deserted and there wasn’t a single guest waiting at any of the registers. We were still waiting on Nana and Papa, but I went ahead and placed our order as it takes a while to get our crew squared away. Tracy and I elected to go with the double cheeseburgers while the girls went for a nugget kid’s meal.

We wound with an entire section to ourselves. (The garage area in the back left corner as you first come in.) By the time our food was ready, Nana, Papa and Preston had arrived. After getting the food to the tables, I headed back up to fill drink orders and grab condiments, then went back for napkins, then went back for a spoon for Hailee, then went back for honey mustard for Tahli, then went back for more napkins for a drink that had spilled on the table. (A dad’s work is never done.)

After verifying that no one needed ANYTHING else, I commenced to chowing down. I know this place isn’t a favorite for all, but I gotta say, that burger was actually really good. I don’t know if it was because we had to wait on it to cook or if they just have improved the quality from what I remember. All I know is that the burger was really juicy though and quite tasty.

Nana: After a relaxing afternoon, we headed back to meet the Biscuit clan for the evening festivities.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/100_1297.jpg
(Kodak Easy Share C713, Auto Mode)

We had great directions and made it to the designated eating place with no problem. Of all the meals we had at Disney, this was the worst in my humble opinion. It was not horrible it just tasted like amusement park food. All the other walk-up meals we had eaten were cleverly disguised to make us think we were eating in a good restaurant. But one out 15 is not bad odds!

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/100_1298.jpg
(Kodak Easy Share C713, Auto Mode)

GB: So I guess I liked the food better than Nana! Anyway, after we were done eating I did a bit of exploring and was again amazed by the detail in this place. Check out the “Manager’s Office” back in the garage area sometime. As dinner was winding down, we convened a council meeting to determine our next course of action. We knew we wanted to catch the 2nd showing of Fantasmic which started in just under 2 hours. Having researched this particular topic a number of times, I knew that we really didn’t need to worry about being in line for the 2nd showing until around 30-45 min ahead of time. The kids wanted to ride Star Tours so we all headed that way for another ride.

The kids all loved it of course and wanted to go again. Tracy and I somehow managed to finagle, um that is convince Nana into taking the kids while we headed out for a ride on Rock N’ Rollercoaster.

The plan made perfect sense to me at the time. With everyone clamoring for a spot in Fastasmic 1.0, we’d have no problems strolling on whatever attraction we wanted. (Except perhaps Toy Story Midway Mania of course) HA! Poor naïve little Biscuit. Apparently the entirety of the park's populace had the same idea. But that’s getting ahead of myself.

After parting ways with the rest of the clan, Tracy and I strolled hand in hand around Echo Lake. I made some corny jokes about lost wallets and monsoons, and asked her if she was enjoying this trip a bit more than the last. She assured me that she was. I wished her happy anniversary (a couple of weeks early.) There was much joy and possibly some mushy stuff involved. Security was not paged.

Nana: After we had eaten, we headed over to the all time favorite Star Tours. Again there was very little wait. The kids all got settled and we were off into outer space. Following our landing, Matt and Tracy wanted to go on an "adult" ride. The kids all wanted to ride Star Tours - again. So, Nana and Papa rounded up the gang and headed back to the turnstiles. We got right in, got seated and off we went. Hailee laughed hysterically the whole time, Preston kept saying "awesome" and Tahli chimed in with "cool". We landed again and assumed we would be off to conquer new worlds. However, our motley little crew had a different idea. Papa and I are pretty incapable of saying "no" to one at a time. With six adoring eyes looking up at us and begging, there was only one thing to do. Around we went again and greeted the workers(by now we were on a first name basis) and headed out into space again.

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/100_1300.jpg
(Kodak Easy Share C713, Auto Mode)

Now you might think that the third time would be the charm - WRONG! Once again we headed back around but this time we said up front - "This is absolutely, positively the last time".

GB: Finally we made it to the entrance of the Rock N Rollercoaster and I stared in disbelief at the sign above the entrance. The wait time was 90 minutes! I had never been on the attraction so I had no idea how to tell whether or not this was accurate. The line did stretch out of the building and quite a way down the outside walkway. We decided not to risk it and headed back toward Sunset Blvd. (Tower of Terror was not an option. If you recall, First Lady Biscuit is not into free-fall rides AT ALL.)

As we passed the entrance to Fantasmic, folks were beginning to line up for the 2nd showing. (Even though showing 1.0 had JUST let everyone in and had not even started yet.) The Cast Member there was advising everyone that there was no need to line up this early. She told anyone who would listen that everyone would get in with no problems so long as they were back by 30 min prior to the show. Some believed her, some did not. Having spent enough time here to be in the know, I believed her. We headed back down the street and did a bit more shopping.

Nana: After we disembarked for the last time, they kids decided that it was time for some serious shopping. Preston knew exactly what he wanted - a light saber. But not just any light saber - it had to be one that he designed and put together himself. While Preston and Papa went through all the steps of building the light saber, the girls and I looked around for the perfect item. After much looking, they proclaimed this to be a "boy store" and said we needed to look elsewhere.

We headed over to the Main Street area. I noticed that the crowd leaving the park was much smaller than the one heading to the Fantasmic area. I didn't think a lot about it and we headed into a shop. When we came out (empty handed) the crowd was beginning to swell. We decided we needed a plan and where was Bubba? He was our planner and we were on our own. What to do? We decided that Papa and Preston should go ahead and get in line and we would join them again shortly.(How naive!) We continued to shop and finally decided on stuffed animals. When we came out, I was amazed! There must have been 1,000,000 people! I grabbed each little girls hand and told them not to let go no matter what!

GB: I called Nana and they were in a shop on Hollywood Blvd. After a bit more strolling around and shopping we headed back and lined up Fantasmic! Papa had already scored a spot ahead of us so when Nana came down the street with the girls, she left them with us and went to find him.

Nana: We began making our way through the sea of people to where we had left Papa and Preston. About 50 yards from our meeting place, we saw Biscuit and First Lady. Hallelujah!
The girls stayed with them and I fought my way through the masses and finally found Papa and Preston. Would Fantasmic be worth it? Would we ever see the Biscuits again?
Why didn't I go to the bathroom when I passed it? Only time will tell!

GB: The girls filled us in on their fun with Star Tours and eventually they opened the gates of the theater to let us in. It was extremely crowded so we each carried one of the girls. There was much phone tag ensuing and we finally located Nana and Papa at the top of the Stadium. We made our way towards the left hand side of the theater and scored some fairly decent seats.

It was still CRAZY hot outside! You’ve heard me bellowing like a behemoth the past couple of episodes about how hot it was that day. For proof, I give you Exhibit A:

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo193/greatbiscuit/WDW%202009/100_1306.jpg
(Kodak Easy Share C713, Auto Mode)

Yep…it’s hot.

Eventually Fantasmic began and it was, well…Fantastic. I took an entire roll of photos using high speed film. I KNEW they would be awesome! Now if I only knew what I did with that roll of film, I’d be golden. That sucker done vanished like a fart in hurricane. Which makes me sad. And a little misty eyed. I won’t detail the show for you. If you’ve seen it, you know all about it, if you haven’t, I won’t ruin it for you. After the show was over, we sat and waited quite a while for the stadium to clear. I figured we may as well wait here on a bench as opposed to standing in the bus queue waiting on a ride.

Finally we made our way out and back down Sunset Blvd. Everything was closed as we were walking along and we were desperate for a drink. It was then that we happened upon Beverly Sunset. They had a lovely little cooler in the corner that was stocked full of bottled sodas and water. JUMPIN JOY FRIDDLEY! We got there just as it was closing and wound up last in line. When we left, there was a couple of CM’s ensuring no one went back down Sunset Blvd. Thirst quenchers in hand, we headed back to the park entrance, with the 12 other people still in the park. I took advantage of the slower pace to snap a few final shots on the way out.

When we arrived at the bus stop, there was a Disney Cruise Line bus waiting for us. It was virtually empty and blissfully cold. After we boarded, the driver waited a while longer for any last minute stragglers and then shoved off for the Pop Century with all of 9 people on board. When we got back, I ran ahead and grabbed our mugs for a final fill up of the day while the girls got ready for bed. Tomorrow morning, Nana and Papa would be heading back to Texas. It was scheduled to be our “whatever” day and I was looking forward to seeing what all that entailed. After the requisite photo dump and email to Preston’s Mom and Tracy’s parents, it was lights out for the Biscuit clan.

First of all, I just have to say....
You are one classy Biscuit. :thumbsup2

GB...

You just talk away........:thumbsup2

It's the community thing that keeps me sane!! Just ask Tim, or Jordo, or Cynthia, maroo, Cherie, or any of the lifelong friendships that I've made here, many of whom I actually talk with by phone, FB or e-mail. Thank you all for keeping me company in an often times, lonely place!!!

What they said. All of it! You rock and your updates, without fail, make me smile, give me warm fuzzies as LL says and are always, always full of pixie dust. What a lovely response!

I wound up picking up a cleaning cloth for my camera lens. (thanks for tip on that Topdog) Who knows, maybe a Darkroom souvenir is a new Biscuit DHS tradition. (I picked up a camera strap here on Honeymoon).

Seriously, between these amazing night shots and Topdog's pics I am going to be jonesing for a new camera for the August trip! ENABLERS! I mean you post the actual camera name, setting and everything! I draw the line at big things, heavy things, tripods and brackets though. Ok then again, maybe I'll just never have good low light shots. Sigh.

Nana: It was not horrible it just tasted like amusement park food. All the other walk-up meals we had eaten were cleverly disguised to make us think we were eating in a good restaurant. But one out 15 is not bad odds!

You are a trouper Nana Biscuit!
Security was not paged.

awww....

Now you might think that the third time would be the charm - WRONG! Once again we headed back around but this time we said up front - "This is absolutely, positively the last time". After we disembarked for the last time, they kids decided that it was time for some serious shopping.

I grabbed each little girls hand and told them not to let go no matter what![/COLOR]

We began making our way through the sea of people to where he had left Papa and Preston. About 50 yards from our meeting place, we say Biscuit and First Lady. Hallelujah!
The girls stayed with them and I fought my way through the masses and finally found Papa and Preston. Would Fantasmic be worth it? Would we ever see the Biscuits again?
Why didn't I go to the bathroom when I passed it? Only time will tell!

Holy saints of grandparents. 4 tours??? saber making? Stuffed animals???

Eventually Fantasmic began and it was, well…Fantastic. I took an entire roll of photos using high speed film. I KNEW they would be awesome! Now if I only knew what I did with that roll of film, I’d be golden. That sucker done vanished like a fart in hurricane. Which makes me sad.

I'm sad. Very sad. But hopeful. Someday, someday, it will turn up.

Backlot Express. I think I ate there in 1992. So it's been awhile. I've walked in there since, but never felt inclined to eat there. I will agree there's something that's different...Wait I think I ate there in 2005.....anyways, I can't put my finger on it, but I think there might have been....yeah, I don't know...it's just different

(are you enjoying my conversation with myself....)

So was the Fantasmic showing full? I'm curious if the reduced showings make both showings really crowded. Did the park seem busier as well? RnRC at 90 minutes is pretty crowded. At least Star Tours wasn't busy.:thumbsup2 Nana and Papa were good sports! Most folks would be turning green.

Your pix of DHS's architecture are a reminder of the great detailing this park has.

You know... I just keep hearing this over and over- the crowds at F! being a nightmare. I seriously doubt that unless they add more shows, the TC3 is going to hit it. Maybe just strolling around DHS soaking in the, I'll just say it, LOVELY atmosphere is more likely going to happen. Your pictures really paint a dreamy picture of the park lit up at night.

Is it true?? Your last day is coming up?!! Say it's not true! Nevertheless, looking forward to finding out what "whatever" means!

It did take a little patience and trial and error on the night shots though. I usually had to take 2 or three shots to get one to come out. I didn't use a tripod on them, I just tried to hold really still.

At least Star Tours wasn't busy.:thumbsup2 Nana and Papa were good sports! Most folks would be turning green. There were actually a few open seats on the outside edges. The left half of the park was deserted but Sunset Blvd was a madhouse.

I do love the atmosphere here, but not as much as I did in trips gone by. Which was sad really. I think it's because I know that it is no longer a "real" studio. Not to worry, it was not my last day, Nana and Papa were only there for the first half of the trip.

That picture of Papa biscuit and Hailee says it all!:scared1: I knew there was a reason that I honestly never go during the summer months....:scared:

We are heading to HS on a Fantasmic night, one perfomance only at 6:30 p.m. So, I'm thinking we should probably line up around 12:00?:rotfl:

We just purchased a Nikon D60 a couple months ago, and now The Darkroom is extremely inviting!:goodvibes I know that I definitely want to get a camera strap, Disney style! We'll see what other trouble I can possibly get into....:rolleyes1

Looking forward to the next episode and finding out who the pipster is and what they did to deserve the pimping!!:lmao:

In all seriousness, you will find that the DIS Boards is about more than simply planning a vacation. It is a place to meet new friends and find a community of folks willing to accept your quirks and like you anyway.
::yes:: Well said, and SOOOO true! :goodvibes

While Tracy and the girls visited the facilities, I took a gander at the offerings in The Darkroom.
Okay, get ready for it... I've never been in there! I know - crazy, isn't it?! Seems like I just never get around to scoping it out, and yet, you know I'm a fellow camera buff. :guilty: Someday.
I know this place isn’t a favorite for all, but I gotta say, that burger was actually really good.
Nana: Of all the meals we had at Disney, this was the worst in my humble opinion.

I took an entire roll of photos using high speed film.

:woohoo:
Now if I only knew what I did with that roll of film, I’d be golden.

Still, you got some great night shots! :thumbsup2 We're heading back for Halloween... I've got The Good Camera ready for a reemergence and you're giving me ideas!

Yes, you did! What a class act, GB:thumbsup2

Secondly, great update!

Thirdly, I must tell you that I have wholeheartedly enjoyed your entire TR. I even read all the parts at the beginning about your previous trips. I really love reports like yours, where we start to feel like we "know" all the players. All the details, the witty asides, the off topic references, the talk about whats going on in your real life, and especially the great photos just add to the enjoyment for me. So, yeah, keep talkin'!

Another great update Biscuit! :thumbsup2

Not to worry, it was not my last day, Nana and Papa were only there for the first half of the trip.

After MONTHS of reading your multi-trip PTR/TR, I tremble to think... what will we all do when this does come to an end??:scared1: Amazingly enough, it hadn't occurred to me that there would be an end. I suppose that may bother some people, but definitely not me! Yours is a wonderful (and wonderfully told) story and I'll be right here until the end. And then some.

Thank you so much for taking the time, Biscuit. :goodvibes

3 nights with the same outcome is a fairly good indicator that it must be like that fairly often. With LMA the only big draw on that side of the park, I can see why it dies later in the day.

Hello! I just wanted to drop in and let you know how much I am enjoying your TR(s)!

I was working today as a substitute teacher and showing the same video 6 times in a row and decided to use the time to read your report. I am halfway through your honeymoon and darn is it good reading! (Seriously, I would have blown a gasket the first day of the honeymoon if it had been me) I also got married in 1997 and we debated a disneymoon but due to money constraints had to give that up. I am a bit sad to never have seen the working studios before the wizard hat (which I don't actually mind) but I am glad I never had to see the pepto bismol castle in person (What were they thinking?!)

I'm looking forward to more of your adventures!

Another great installment, GB! And I love Nana's input. Bless the grandparents for riding Star Tours, what, FOUR, times in a row?!?!?!:scared1: I mean, I like it and all, but once a trip (if that) is more than enough for me.

I am surprised at the crowds for Fantasmic #2. Though I guess it makes sense with the reduced showings. Glad we've been there/done that enough that we don't feel the need to catch it all that often anymore. I'm impressed that Preston got through the show without being scared. Between the dark and the villians and all the noise, I could certainly see a kid ('specially one who wouldn't do WISHES, for goodness sake) getting overwhelmed. Methinks there may be a bit more anxiety from anticipation vs. from the actual show....;)

Sorry you and Lady Biscuit missed out on RnRC. It's one of my faves. But it is rare to find an acceptable stand-by wait there once you're over an hour past opening. FP all the way on that one, for sure! (Though I know that would have not been an option in this case...)

Keep 'em coming! Mmmmm, a "whatever" day. Love those!!!

I haven't been here in ages. But felt the need for a little TR. Happily I found this.

I haven't started reading yet. But from the looks of it... this promises to be a fun game. And by that I mean right up there with some of my favourites such as "Feed A Vegan Lard", "Shovel My Driveway Into The Neighbours' Driveway", "Neighbourhood Nighttime Pooper Scooper Roulette" and "Run Like Michael Moore" (NOZZUB).

Ok.

So I'll start it now.

Cheers, Mel.

P.S. I saw that picture of you at your desk wearing headphones.

Hey Biscuit....I just got to read 3 updates...well I guess that would be 4 with Nana's update too. That was fun to read them all in one sitting but a reminder of how long I've been missing the reports. Our family has been taking turns dealing with the H1N1 flu....yucky! Luckily my youngest I believe is just about done.

My kids loved Crush also. I do believe the walked around the rest of the day saying "DUDE!" The shark picture is awesome. It makes a great picture to put at work and look at during stessful times! I loved the reports from Nana and to see what they did while you were on your adventure. And what cool grandparents to ride again and again and again and again! That's awesome because I bet that's something those kids will remember and talk about for a very long time! I love being a mom but can't wait to be a grandparent....well umm I guess I can wait cuz I don't want my girls to grow up tooo fast but I want to be that cool Nana too in the future!

We didn't get to tour Hollywood Studios the last time we were there so I'm looking forward to checking it out whenever our next trip will be.

Looking forward to more...

Whew, I know how much stress being separated in a large crowd is! I'm glad you guys met back up without too much trouble. Gotta love cell phones. Back in pre-cellphone days (I can't believe I can remember back that far!) we used to take walkey-talkies with us to Disney World. But that opened up a whole new set of problems when the batteries ran dead, or there was too much static, or someone accidentally changed channels, etc.

Too bad about the Fantasmic photos. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the show, though. I was worried about Preston, too.

Showboat.

MEL!!!!!!!!!
:welcome: :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2:

HOLY FART KNOCKING COW!

WOO HOO! :woohoo: I’m SO glad you’re back! I’m truly honored you found your way here and gave us a shout out! I’m sure if Zzub were still around there would be sarcasm and loathing, which we all know was his way of expressing affection. Now that you’re back, you HAVE to stop by often. Otherwise dancing bananas may be dispatched!

Yikes! Sorry to hear you guys have been dealing with the pig bug! Glad to hear you are recovering!

My kids loved Crush also. I do believe the walked around the rest of the day saying "DUDE!" The shark picture is awesome. It makes a great picture to put at work and look at during stessful times! I know! I was totally doing surfer talk all day. OH, I just did it again. Totally! Okay I’m stopping now.

It was an AWESOME time and a fantastic memory that they will have to look back upon.

But that opened up a whole new set of problems when the batteries ran dead, or there was too much static, or someone accidentally changed channels, etc. Back in my youth pastor days we did the whole “Family Radio” thing on several events. They were o.k., but they were a bit of a pain in the papoose.

Too bad about the Fantasmic photos. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the show, though. I was worried about Preston, too.I twas a great show!

Morning, GB! Back to read all the chatter going on here! Fun times here!How-diggidy-doo! Hope life is treating you well in Blank-a-Stan. I’m hoping to get caught up on a number of TR’s in the next few days so I hope to be over your way shortly.

Thanks for the shout out GB! We got back today and I"m happy to see that I only missed 1 episode. I'm glad you enjoyed Fantasimic. Luckily we saw it on our honeymoon in 2004 when we didn't have to wait hours to get in. Maybe we'll see it again some day.

:thumbsup2 Yet another illustration of what a great, supportive guy you are, GB!

I must say, I'm not much of a TR reader these days. And even less of a poster. :guilty: I've lurked on a few of these, but really only post to one or two reports these days (yours, and Tink & TK's). I really want to read V's and Jordan's TRs (all of 'em), but never seem to have the time.....

Wow I'm finally caught up! I know I'm late but I followed you over from Jordan's PTR. It has taken me quite a while to get up to speed, but I've enjoyed every minute of it.

I love your report!:lovestruc Your writing style is the best. Your girls are beautiful. I'm really loving reading about their first experiences. We were there at about the same time. We arrived 6/21 and stayed until 6/29. We were also at Pop so I've been looking real close at your fabulous pictures to see if we show up. I also admire your ability to stay up so late. I'm the opposite and a morning person. I totally jealous you got LeCellier. I wanted that one real bad and never got it.

This was our “free day” so we took advantage of it and slept in. Well, sort of. I woke up around 9 and couldn’t fall back to sleep. I didn’t want to wake the girls so I grabbed our bag ‘o clothes and headed down to do some laundry. It was a fine morning outside and already the Hippy Dippy was filling up. One of the things I really enjoyed about this resort was that it seemed as if there was always a party going on.

Usually whenever I left the room alone, I took the steps. (It was faster that way.) But with the addition of the laundry, I elected to take the elevator. As I was waiting, a family of four showed up and joined me. When we got in the elevator, I had to crack up when their girls argued over whose turn it was to push the button. We had that exact same “discussion” EVERY time we used the elevator during our stay. I let them get off first and then pulled my rolling duffle bag full of laundry around the Hippy Dippy to the laundry room attached to Petals. On the way I saw Nana, Papa and Preston in the pool and gave a wave.

I swiped my Key to the World card (which I later found was unnecessary as the door was already unlocked,) and headed inside. It was a bit of a stark contrast once you were actually in the thing as there was ZERO themeing going on in there. I was kind of disappointed actually. I figured since they managed to trick out everything else in the resort they would at least do SOMETHING in there. (Maybe some period washers or something) But alas, it was not so.

Shortly after I arrived, another dad came in with a bag of clothes as well. We chatted a bit and I discovered he was from Kansas City. He had volunteered to stay behind and wash clothes while his wife and daughter when to Downtown Disney to shop.

Not long after we got our clothes going, a cast member came in and mopped up a pool of water near one of the washing machines. A few minutes later another CM with a tool belt came in and leaned over to look behind it. He then wrote something down and left. About five or ten minutes later, a second CM came in and looked behind the washer, then he too left. Shortly thereafter, both CM number two and CM number three returned, looked behind it together then left.

Unable to contain our curiosity my new found friend and I each took a peek behind it as well. (I still have no idea what was so fascinating back there or why they felt the need to leave after each glimpse of it.) Before long, it was time to experience the joys of drying.

KC guy had decided to read his paper and I read the news on my phone. What really stunk though was there wasn’t any seating in there. We just kind of stood around and tried to keep out of the way of people coming in and out. We had both agreed though that leaving clothes unguarded here was not a wise move. (Having seen two different folks come in and “relocate” someone else’s stuff.)

As we were both engrossed in our respective news articles a lady came in and immediately felt the need to engage in conversation. (In a manner what was way too bubbly for a pre-noon conversation I might add.) She was on her honeymoon and it was fabulous, the wedding had been fabulous, the decorations were fabulous, the cake was fabulous, the dance was fabulous. I know all this because kept telling us how fabulous it all was. Repeatedly. Neither KC guy or I ever really said anything. We just nodded and grunted from time to time.

Then she took her clothes out to fold them on the main table there and that’s when it got extremely awkward. Her load of laundry consisted solely of, shall we say intimate apparel, including “outfits of a naughty nature”. And she was folding it right there. In the middle of the room. ON THE TABLE. In front of God and everybody.

Now this is a direct violation of the known Man Laws of Public Laundry Handling. When I folded my clothes, anytime I came across the more personal items, I just stuffed them in the bag to fold them later. That’s the way it’s supposed to be done. It’s in the manual…page 432 to be exact, right between proper grill lighting techniques and approved methods of duct tape dispensing. I mean seriously now.

KC guy and I spent our time averting our eyes everywhere BUT the table, all while attempting to avoid appearing rude by ignoring her or conversely appearing perverts by looking at her. (It was then that I REALLY wished for some themeing, or at least a TV.) Eventually she finished, still talking as she made her way out the door. After giving us a final shout about it having been fabulous chatting with us, she disappeared. For a moment we stood there wondering what had just happened and how we could avoid it in the future. Finally KC guy deadpanned “Something tells me they have yet to hit the parks.” I wholeheartedly concurred and before long, it was time to properly man fold my own loads of clothes and head back to the room.

I ran into Papa on my way back. He had gotten out of the pool right after I passed them earlier and had gone back to the room to change. He was now returning from Everything POP with three freshly refilled mugs, while Nana was helping Preston finish getting ready.

When we got back to the room, the girls were up and watching The Disney Channel. Tracy was on the phone with her aunt and I dropped off the laundry bag then headed out to top off our own mugs. Once I got back, I helped get the girls ready and soon there was a knock at the door. Nana and crew were there to say their farewells before heading to the Magical Express bus for their return flight.

After bidding us all a hearty yet envious goodbye, they headed out and we were left to ponder our next move. Tracy told me that her aunt (the one she was talking to earlier) and her family were on their way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We had known ahead of time that our travel dates overlapped, but they weren’t sure ahead of time when they would actually be hitting the parks. We decided to go meet up with them a bit later on.

We weren’t on a schedule other than our dinner ADR so we let the girls enjoy some down time while I got ready and we put our laundry away. Tracy also wanted to straighten up and re-organize our stuff a little better so we took care of that as well. Around one-ish, we were all taken care of and headed down to the bus stop.

We didn’t have too long of a wait and soon we were on our way to the park. Everyone was getting a bit hungry on the ride over and decided that our first order of business was to procure some snacks. Along the way, we touched base with Tracy’s aunt and discovered that they were in the standby line for Rockin’ Roller Coaseter. We figured we had a good 45 minutes before we met up with them. This meant one thing. It was cheese stuffed pretzel time! WOOHOO. Or so I thought.

The bus soon arrived and we made our way through the turnstiles. (Hailee still ducked under them.) We headed over to Min and Sid’s and as we stood in line, I noticed something. The stuffed pretzels were mysteriously absent from the signage. I wondered if maybe I had miscalculated and pulled out my phone. I had bookmarked the menu page on AllEars so I pulled it up. Sure enough, right there on the site it listed Cheese Stuffed Pretzels. Hmmmm.

Then I noticed something else. Nothing on this menu matched what was on the sign. I began to worry a bit and when I reached the windows, my fears were confirmed. The menu had just been revamped and the pretzels that I had been reading about for so long were, alas, no more. I was crushed I gotta tell you. I mean you can’t get a guy all jazzed up on visions of warm bread filled with spicy cheese and then rip it all away. That’s cruel and unusual!

Nothing sounded good at this point so we decided for now to just get something to drink and look for something else to snack on. As the CM was filling up our cups, I snapped a couple of photos for the sign so I could send an email to AllEars and let them know about the menu changes. (Which I did later that evening.) This confused the poor CM until Tracy explained that I was writing a trip report and felt compelled to take photos of these sorts of things. Which I think actually confused the poor girl even more.

Once we had our drinks, the smell of popcorn led me to a nearby stand and we soon found a table to sit and snack a bit. Tracy asked what our supper plans were and I told her we were going to the Whispering Canyon. I did my best to explain what it was, but having never stepped foot inside the Wilderness Lodge I’m afraid my descriptions were a bit vague. She listened to me muddle through it and finally said, “Well, you’ve done great picking our meals so far so I trust you.” I gotta say my love for that woman grew even stronger right on the very spot. :lovestruc

It was nearing the time when we thought Tracy’s Aunt and her family would be done with their ride. We made our way towards Sunset Blvd and I shot a couple of photos along the way.

As we neared the end of the street, the girls saw the sign for Hollywood Scoops. (At least I THINK that was the name of it. It was an ice cream stand down by TOT on the left hand side near Anaheim Produce.) Anyway, they decided ice cream would make the perfect chaser for popcorn. Of course they were correct so I grabbed us some and we sat in a little area behind the shop and ate. While the girls finished their ice cream, I pulled out the camera took a couple of shots with the zoom lens.

Tracy’s aunt called and said they were nearing the loading area and would be done soon. It was DOG hot outside so after the ice cream was done, I decided the best place to wait would be in the ride’s gift shop. As soon as we came in, we saw a machine that makes custom dog tags. We knew at once that we had to get a souvenir for Pippy. (Our annoying yet lovable beagle whom I believe may have been mentioned earlier. To recap, she is called The Pipster by the rest of the clan and “Hairy Mongrel Beast” by myself.) We wound up going with a heart shaped tag that had Minnie Mouse on one side and was engraved with “Pippy” and our address info on the other. We then spent another four or five minutes wandering around the rest of the shop.

I convinced Tahli to try on a hat.

(Have I mentioned yet how much I am DREADING the teenage years?) :sad2:

About the time we were done playing with the hats, Tracy saw her uncle and cousin coming off the ride. Her aunt and other cousin soon followed and we all had a happy reunion. :grouphug:

Would our group stay together? What attraction would we squeeze in before heading to our dinner ADR? Stay tuned to find out!

Laundry Day! I remember that day, only mine wasn't as interesting as yours.

Are you still on June 23rd? If so we had dinner at WCC that night. Loved it! Not the greatest food but we had a blast!

Love the hat pictures. I'm going to have to try that next trip.

The laundry story was so funny! Why would you even fold lingerie??? It's not like it wrinkles! :rotfl:

On someone's dining report this week, they mentioned Butterfinger muffins at DHS; I'm thinking this is the snack to track down there now!

And heck if she was really all that busy, why bother folding I say.

I've had the pleasure (?) of doing laundry in a value, a moderate and a deluxe disney resort. Just like Disney ranks their toilet paper they do indeed rank their laundry facilities. The deluxe laundry rooms come complete with an adjoining TV lounge.

For the record I like doing laundry at disney. At least if I have a good book and a choice beverage. It usually means I can dump the kids on someone else and have a few quiet moments to myself.

The day I had been dreading all week was here. Today we would bid Disney a fond farewell and head back to the "real world" . We were scheduled to leave the resort at noon for the bus ride to the airport. The Biscuit clan had a "do nothing" day and slept in. As I have mentioned before, we are not late sleepers and neither is Preston. We got up and headed to the food court for our last meal at WDW. The breakfast there was actually pretty good. After we ate, Preston wanted to get shirts for his mom and dad and for little brother Cooper. We made a few trips around the gift area and he finally settled on which treasures he wanted for his family.

With that done, we went back to get ready for our "last swim". The water was great and Preston soon found a friend to play with. I swam for a while and then headed up to get our bags packed. After all was in place, I went back to the pool for "just a few minutes" while Papa got dressed.

Finally the time had come and we had to get out and get dressed for the airport. We got dry clothes on, packed the wet ones in plastic bags (courtesy of the Biscuit clan, they think of everything!) and gave our room one more "look see" to make sure we weren't leaving anything behind.

We knocked on the Biscuit's door and told them all good-bye. Preston had decided he wanted a "Mouse Ear hat" so he gave his souvenir money to Tahli with instructions of exactly what he wanted.

After our farewells, we headed down to wait for the bus. While we were waiting, Preston played with the giant Legos outside and had one last adventure! The bus soon arrived and we boarded. We looked out the window and watched DW slip from sight. The ride to the airport was full of "my favorite thing was ..." with lots of favorite things!

We had 2 hours to wait when we arrived at the airport. Not to worry, there was the ever familiar golden arches. We made our lunch decisions and sat down to eat. While we were eating, Papa asked for the boarding passes. I gave them to him and said "hang on to those, we will need them". I knew better but I didn't do better!

After we ate, we went in the gift shop and bought a couple of magazines and coloring books for the flight home. We then made our way to the facilities. We then headed for the gates. I asked Papa to check the boarding passes to make sure of the gate number. After going through his pockets numerous times, going back to our table at McDonald's , checking the restroom, emptying my purse - well you get the picture, we decided that the boarding passes were indeed gone! Where, we did not know but they were officially "gone". We went to the customer service desk, explained our difficulties and were immediately given new boarding passes. I was amazed at how easy it was!

Finally we boarded. Preston took a window seat and quietly watched the ground fade from view. When all we could see was clouds, he turned to me and said, "Nana, this is the best week of my life". Now that, my friends, is what Disney World is all about!

I guess I need to go update the title now! I LOVED the taters they had at breakfast the day I went up there early.

Finally the time had come and we had to get out and get dressed for the airport. We got dry clothes on, packed the wet ones in plastic bags (courtesy of the Biscuit clan, they think of everything!) and gave our room one more "look see" to make sure we weren't leaving anything behind. I remember when we did our final look through. It’s such a sad moment when you close that door for the last time.

We knocked on the Biscuit's door and told them all good-bye. Preston had decided he wanted a "Mouse Ear hat" so he gave his souvenir money to Tahli with instructions of exactly what he wanted. I felt so bad for Preston. He handled it great, but he was so sad that the girls go to stay.

We did the same thing!

I’m glad all that worked out.

Finally we boarded. Preston took a window seat and quietly watched the ground fade from view. When all we could see was clouds, he turned to me and said, "Nana, this is the best week of my life". Now that, my friends, is what Disney World is all about! Now I’m all warm and fuzzy inside!

There's the word I was looking for!!! T.A.C.K.Y.! Blech!:guilty:Yep.

That made my heart melt! No matter what you had to get through to make the trip happen, it was all worth it with that simple statement!

DeniseHere, here!

D-Day. So sad. That it is.

There is always one more souvie I could pick up too. Aint it the truth!

What a wonderful gift Preston gave back to you with this statement. I still remember going on vacation with my grandparents when I was Preston’s age. We went to Washington D.C. I farted during the white house tour. It’s one of the things I’m most proud of.

I wish the entire biscuit clan many many more best weeks of their lives! Thanks!

The hardest part of a Disney vacation is leaving. I'm so glad Preston really enjoyed it. Of course this means he'll want to go back!

Don't you hate that feeling? I had that going through the airport when we arrived and MCO and saw all the folks in security waiting to go home.

It truly sounds like a great few last moments in WDW. A perfect way to wrap up the trip. I am glad to hear they reprinted your boarding passes without a hassle! Whew!!!!

GB-sounds like a great day for your crew so far too! I was laughing out loud at the laundry incident. Fabulous writing. ;) That is a SHAME about the pretzel though!!!

Preston's comment was SO sweet! That's the stuff that makes it all worthwhile, that's for sure!

I LOVE that picture of Hailee "not" wearing that hat. She is a true girlie girl! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear what the Biscuit clan does next! (And what Lady Biscuit thought of WCC!)

This was our “free day” so we took advantage of it and slept in.
:woohoo:
Well, sort of. I woke up around 9 and couldn’t fall back to sleep.
9am counts as sleeping in to me! :thumbsup2

What really stunk though was there wasn’t any seating in there.
You're kidding?! :sad2:

Finally KC guy deadpanned “Something tells me they have yet to hit the parks.”
:lmao:

The stuffed pretzels were mysteriously absent from the signage.
WHAT?!?! :faint:

Awww....made me tear up a little. So sweet. :cloud9:I certainly puts it all in perspective. Suddenly ADR’s, parade spots, and snack credits don’t seem quite as important now.

Normally me to, but my mind kept translating the time back to central time.

You're kidding?! :sad2: Nope, it was quite sad.

WHAT?!?! :faint: :mad:I was not a happy biscuit.

Aww, Nana, Papa, and Preston, I'm sad to see you go. I'm so glad you guys enjoyed the trip so much and that is just the sweetest statement from Preston about it being the best week of his life. Here's to hoping you all can return soon!

So there I was, about 10:30 at night one evening last week. I had been helping Tahli with her school project after I got home from work and had to help Tracy finish something she was working on for her classroom. AND of course we needed supplies to make lunches for the following morning. So I was driving to the store and my stomach got to rumbling. I did a quick inventory and realized I hadn't eaten since noon. And so it was that I found myself inexplicably drawn like a moth to a flame to the one place that sounded good. I pulled up, gave a happy hello to the clerk, and ordered up 3 of these little bad boys.

Yep.

Not the best decision I ever made, but tasty at the time. Though it wasn't nearly so profound a reaction as eating 17, I will say there were consequences and leave it at that.

Ah yes, I fondly remember the 17 Crystal Burger "incident". I dare say that age has prolly reduced the critical mass number greatly, my friend. ;)

All those years of Tex Mex and Cajun are definitely starting to come home to roost! I really felt old last night...I got up to let the dog out and my back made so many popping sounds when I stood up, I worried that maybe something important had come unsnapped in there. Next thing you know, I'll be talking back to the TV and repeating myself. Next thing you know, I'll be talking back to the TV and repeating myself.

We don't have any trees so I couldn't say. I will confess to dipping a Pretzel breadstick into cheese soup at Le Cellier. Does that count?

Wow, perhaps the laundry lady was just in a perpetual state of bliss and didn't know what she was doing?:confused3

Well, I am sad that Nana, Papa, and Preston were on their way home.:sad2: I hate goodbyes, especially when it's goodbye to WDW.... I really don't want to hear your goodbye, because it'll mean the TR is over.:sad1:
