Well, folks, Matt and I are sitting here at the brand-new, gorgeously wonderful Indianapolis airport. Our flight is scheduled to leave at 8:15. Being the anal-retentively on-time people that we are, we are here already... we've had our breakfast.... and we've logged on to the FREE wi-fi. It's time to get this going.
I'm going to attempt a LIVE report. I can't promise anything, but we ARE going without kids, so I should have plenty of time to chill out with my camera, photobucket, and (of course) the DIS!
Just wanted to get this link to everyone who wants to tag along with us.
Come on!popcorn::

Wow! I can't believe Matt and I just got here yesterday! We have had two VERY full days. I'm going to get this thing going until my eyelids force me to bed. We are in our lovely studio at Saratoga Springs. Matt has already crashed in bed (he was up at 2:30 this morning for the mini:eek: ) and he looks so comfy...
Ok... I'll stop looking at him and get this going!
So, yesterday at 6am we took off to the airport. We had dumped the kiddos off at their respective babysitters' houses the night before so we wouldn't have to inconvenience anyone that early in the morning. We parked in long term parking, which was the cheapest.. but still was $11 a day! UGH!! We had a pretty long walk to the terminal and MAN was it COLD!! Of course, being the pessimists we are at all times, we couldn't think, "Wow, in a few hours we'll be in shorts!!" NO.. we were thinking "Dang it's gonna stink walking back to the car when we get home to 3degrees!!"
No stories to tell about the flight. It was flawless... not a bump in sight and a perfect takeoff and landing. Matt was already trying to get rest:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020986.jpg
We quickly got off the plane as we were in the first row behind 1st class, and 1st class was a ghost town. I mean, NO ONE was sitting there... wierd!
First monorail ride!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020987.jpg
Are you ready for MOJO moment? Matt and I split up. He was going to wait for baggage. I was heading to EZ Rent-a-car. Cell phones in hand, we were ready to play the 'where-are-you' game. Now, for those of you who have followed my TRs from the past, the last time we rented a car... it was MISERABLE. We had to take a shuttle off site, then wait for an HOUR to get to an agent to start the process of getting a car. Not THIS time!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020988.jpg
And to make me feel even better... check out the ME line:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020990.jpg
:scared1:
It was CRAZY busy!! I'm assuming because of the marathon weekend.
Matt was down with our bags just as I was leaving the counter with paper work in hand. Sweet! We walked across the street... waved at the ME buses on our way... then hopped in our little green VW Beetle... yes... a Beetle! and we were on our way.
Unfortunately, because we waited too long to call to book our room, we were unable to get on Disney property this first night, so we had to stay in Kissimee... ick!! On our way, we decided to stop by Wide World of Sports to check Matt in for the Mini. We've never been there before... so we were looking forward to seeing it for the 1st time.
Side note... Matt got a GPS for Christmas... IT FREAKIN ROCKS!!!
Ok.. moving on.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020991.jpg
We followed a stream of cars into the parking lot, then a stream of people going into the facilities. It was CRAZY busy. Not overly crowded, but very very busy. Disney has this going on! The flow of the crowd just worked. We were very impressed and found everything we needed quickly.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020992.jpg
Matt trying to find the check in:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020994.jpg
Found it!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020996.jpg
After picking up his chip and shirt number, we had to go to the Expo to get his shirt and goodie bag:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020998.jpg
Again, this looks like a zoo! And it WAS very crowded... but the flow worked. Matt was getting excited and anxious about his upcoming race. This was his very first attempt at a mini!
We perused the grounds of the complex. Absolutely stunning! And Disney expectations make it immaculate! http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1020999.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030001.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030003.jpg
We were off to our hotel. Mr. GPS lead us right there. We stayed at the "Palms Hotel and Villas".. sounds fancy... um... yeah...
I found it on Expedia.. the price was right and it was very close to Disney. But... here... check out the view from our window:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030005.jpg
....yeeeeeaaaahhhhh.... Let's see what Matt thinks of it:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030006.jpg
We are such spoiled Disney snobs... really! I mean, the room wasn't THAT bad. We are just used to our sprawling resorts, friendly cast members, and the 'being home' mentality. This just didn't cut it!
But... the cool thing was that we were right across the street from Celebration! We have always wanted to check that place out, so after settling a bit and changing clothes, we took a little tour! Here are some shots from the town. It is breathtaking. If I ever become a brain surgeon, lottery winner, or NFL Quarterback.... I am TOTALLY moving here! Enjoy!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030008.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030012.jpg
I was getting concerned that Matt needed to get to bed extra early for his big morning of racing. He kept telling me that there was NO way he'd fall asleep. So... off to Epcot we went. Well, actually, we parked at the Boardwalk:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030016.jpg
and walked in through International Gateway. It's bizarre how I will always think of the Lill family when I do this! Disboards... does crazy things to you because of people you've never met... strange...
Matt took a moment to take in the Boardwalk... one of his favorite places!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030017.jpg
Our walk to the Gateway:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030019.jpg
Love the FriendShips!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030020.jpg
And Matt stops... AGAIN... to take it all in!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030021.jpg
I think I'm going to stop here. Matt is already snoring and I'm spent. We are planning on sleeping in and taking it slow in the morning, so hopefully I can get some more done.
Good night everyone!
Wow it sure looked busy at the check in for the race. The weather looks gorgeous, no so here in the cold midwest.
BTW I have been to Celebration, it really looked like a great place to live. My DAunt went for kidney dialysis on one of our trips, I had to pass the Celebration Hospital on our way to the Dialysis Center. (I wonder if they have a great OR? I love my job, I love my job..............)
Have a great trip. Amazing amount of pictures in your live trip report, really fun to read!

Great start, Susie! Sorry you had to stay off-site for the 1st night, but it makes you appreciate your DVC all that much more! :thumbsup2 How exciting for Matt - I can't wait to hear all about the mini! Like I've said before, I admire anyone who can run a marathon. I'm just thankful every time I can walk all the way around World Showcase once! LOL! :rotfl: Awwww, thanks for thinking of us! Maybe we should retire and become the 'greeters' at BWV, like Art is at BCV! Wouldn't that be cool?!
Have fun! Can't wait for more! popcorn::

OMG, I am LOVING this live report thing Sooze, thanks so much for doing it. In our 5 degree weather with sleet this is a wonderful way to get a little bit of Disney magic and sunshine that I desperately needed this a.m. Love the pics of Matt "taking it all in" in the boardwalk.
so funny you mention how Disers do stuff to you. want to hear a HALARIOUS story. Tim was talking in his sleep the other night and he rolled over and said "Sooze from the Dis called you". I was like "What??" and he infaticaly (in his sleep again said) "Yeah, you know, Sooze from the Dis" and I said "Tim, honey, she doesn't even have our number" and then he was back to snoring:rotfl: Sooooooooooooo funny!
Hope the race goes well, can't wait to hear more!!!

Well, we ARE planning on moving down here when we retire. We throw around 'retirement' jobs every time we're here. Greeter at the BWV? Sounds perfect!!

When Matt and I come to Disney by ourselves, we always try to seek out things we haven't experienced yet (Like the sports complex and Celebration!) So when we entered England and heard the British Invasion playing, we decided to stroll back there and take a listen:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030022.jpg
They were very good and we enjoyed taking in the atmosphere and music. They were singing "I Saw Her Standing There". Any other readers remember singing along with Tiffany on that one? Oh yeah... one of my favorites!!
Next stop, Voices of Liberty. Um... all that stuff about finding new things to do... yeah... that doesn't count for VoL!! We MUST see them at LEAST three times every trip!
Stopped by Japan on the way in:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030023.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030025.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030026.jpg
Saw the blue man. He was absolutely hilarious! The band "Mo'Rockin" was playing and he just went at it dancing and girating. The kids were having a blast with him!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030024.jpg
On to home territory:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030027.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030028.jpg
I have some video footage of VoL that I'll post later! We watched them twice, then decided to head for dinner. Electric Umbrella was calling, but Matt was running tomorrow and needed something better than chicken nuggets and fries. So we went to The Land to eat at their counter service.
Shots of WS on the way:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030030.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030031.jpg
Our meals. I got salmon with pesto sauce, carrots and a salad with apple vinaigrette. Delicious. Matt got rotisserie chicken with rice and mashed potatoes. Very good!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030032.jpg
The famous umbrellas of The Land!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030033.jpg
The wait time for Soarin' was 65 minutes. We had nothing to do but wait for Illuminations, so we went for it. We ended up only waiting 45 (and that includes asking for top center and having to wait and extra round.) I was excited that the little game was working in the wait line. I have never seen it in action. It really was fun, and helped pass the time:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030036.jpg
Yay! Soarin'!!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030038.jpg
Matt lovin it too!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030037.jpg
We wrapped up the night with Illuminations. We continue sitting in our new favorite place in Mexico. We park it right next to the engraved rings kiosk. There is a firework launch right under neath us, and a speaker right in front of us. AWESOME!!
Walked back to BWV, took our car back to the nasty hotel... and we both crashed.
....for a very short while....

Hi Sooze (And Matt). Glad you guys are having a good time, again, just LOVING this live report, so fun!!! We've never seen voices of liberty so I await your video to tempt us to see them for the first time in June. Do your kids like it too or is an adult only thing? That soarin' line cue thing always seemed cool as we watched people interacting with it as we whiz by in the FP line. Looks like you guys are having a great time so far, can't wait for more!!!

Voices of Liberty is DEFINITELY a WHOLE family experience. They only sing 3 or 4 songs... so it's short and sweet. Matt and I people watch in between sets, and go back over and over again... which our kids would NEVER let us do... but seeing them once is GREAT for the kiddos.
Yeah.. I can't believe we got into a 65 minute stand by line. I guess it's because we were really in no rush! We usually fly by in the FP line too!

Yes... the brilliant sunshine we've had made for some beautiful pictures!!
Matt placed 5704th!! That cracks us up to say... but when you think that there were over 12000 runners.. he didn't do too bad!!

Signing on for the fun!
Brings back great memories of when DH did the Half-Marathon in 2006! We did the "adults-only thing, too! :goodvibes
Totally different vibe than when the kiddos are along.... great, but I must have jumped up in a panic at least a half dozen times thinking, "OMG, where are they? They're lost!!" :rotfl:
Looking forward to more,

Well, I wish I had a bunch of pictures to post of Matt triumphantly crossing the finish line with "Chariots of Fire" playing in the background. I should probably even have a picture of his shiny gold Donald medal. But.... no...
We woke up at 2:45!! ICKY! I dropped him off at the BW by 3:15 so he could catch a bus to the race start. Then I went back to the lame hotel and slept until 7!! My poor man was running his heart out, and I was dreaming away!! It basically boils down to the fact that we were off property. Not only that, but we were rookies, too. We had no idea what the mini was set up like... what the family members could do....etc. Next time he does this, we will make SURE we are on property, and I will definitely be there cheering for him at the end.
So how did he do? He was VERY pleased as he RAN the whole race. He was worried that he'd have to stop or walk... he didn't even have to take a bathroom break:thumbsup2 He finished in 2 and a half hours and placed 5,704th. That sounds so funny to say, but it was out of over 12,000 runners... so not too bad!!
Here's the first picture I have of this day.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030041.jpg
I checked out of our hotel, checked into SSR. Our room was, obviously, not ready at 9am. So I waited for Matt at the marathon bus stop. He grabbed some food and water, changed into his bathing suit, sat in the hot tub for about 20 minutes, then SLEPT on the pool lounger. When he awoke, he looked at me and said, "This is a little bit of H#!! Yeah!!" That became our quote of the weekend!
We decided to head to DHS while we waited for our room.
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030050.jpg
Our first stop was food. We grabbed some pizza and a sandwich for Matt.

We decided to watch the Beauty and the Beast show again, but had a while until the next show. Time to check out some Streetmosphere:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030061.jpg
We watched these folks for a good half hour. Matt thinks they milk it more when the weather is nice, because they aren't sweltering to death!
Time for Beauty and the Beast. Unfortunately, we found out that Four for a Dollar/ Return2Zero are no longer opening up the show. The CM we talked to made it seem like budget cuts were the reason. He also revealed that they are performing at Sea World now:confused: Shame on Disney... they were AMAZING!
Oh well.. on to the classic tale:

Next, we went to the Animation class. Again, tip for everyone, we walked into the Art store in front of the animation exhibit. There is a door that takes you inside the exhibit. You can bypass the little video (and the big line!) and go right to the fun stuff. Matt and I both laughed when we learned we were drawing Goofy. That's exactly who we did last time. Though, we DID draw him facing a different angle this time. Okay... who's is better?:rolleyes1

Next up was LMA show. On our way, we saw that VotLM was about to start and Matt had never seen it. Now, I'm not really a fan. It is SO outdated, but... we went anyway. This is what we BOTH think of the show:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030092.jpg
Ariel is cute and her song is beautiful. The blacklight stuff is neat... but that movie is just too complicated to compact into 15 minutes of show. It is just lame. They REALLY need to update that section of the park. We have a few ideas... I'll share some later!
LIGHTS.... MOTORS...... ACTION!

After this, we were done and ready to back HOME to get into the villa.
I'll try to update sometime tomorrow with more (and pictures from our home for the weekend!)
But I'll leave you with that VOL video I promised. Listen to this man SING! The talent at Disney is unparalleled... just amazing!

CONGRATS to Matt for doing so well in his first Mini! :thumbsup2 :cool1: :cheer2:
And, congrats to you both for getting back on WDW property, lol! It can be skeery outside those walls.
It sounds like a fantastic trip so far - looking forward to more! :goodvibes

I will be looking forward to hearing your reaction to VoL. We just LOVE LOVE LOVE them (in case you couldn't tell!)
Matt and I decided that since DHS doesn't have an interactive activity (like Turtle Talk or Monsters Inc Laugh Floor) that they could use that space for something like that. Maybe use Mater from Cars.. or extend the Pixar Place further down into where VotLM is. You can't get too much Pixar!!
We also thought about targeting Tweenies... like putting something from Wizards of Waverly place there.. or an interactive Radio Disney exhibit. Something!!!

Well, we had PLANNED on going back to get into our villa, but realized we were hungry. We were walking past Momma Melrose's and it was pretty dead (it was kinda early). So in we went!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030108.jpg
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030101.jpg
We were seated immediately. I love the theming of this place. I wanted to linger and look at all of the pictures on the walls of celebrities that had been to MGM. Lots of 80's stars for sure!! We started with a bread/spread tray:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030105.jpg
Then the chefs prepared Chicken Parm for Matt and Spicy Italian Sausage for me:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030102.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030106.jpg
I've heard some not-so-flattering reports about this place but we really liked it. The food was delicious. Our CM/waiter was friendly and took excellent care of us. We will definitely return.
(I must let you know, however, that Matt and I are NOT food experts by any means! We don't drink wine or dine at 5 star establishments... so take that for what it's worth!)
We stopped by AI on our way out:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030111.jpg
I asked about the prize in relation to old people like me. You know, if you 'win' the show for the day, you get a pass to get you to the front of the line for the REAL AI auditions. Well, obviously, if you're too old to audition for AI, the prize is kind of a waste. The CM told us that you can transfer it ONCE. So.. WHEN I come compete in AI in the spring, and WHEN I win... I'll take the highest bidder on my pass...
We bid farewell to DHS and to the sun. The moon has been STUNNING while we've been here. And I'm counting my blessings that I'm skipping school while there is a full moon!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030112.jpg
We got to our villa and got unpacked and comfy. We were in The Paddock on the 2nd floor. We were very close to a quiet pool and a bus stop. Just fine with us!:thumbsup2
We got into warmer clothes and headed back to Epcot for night #2 of Illuminations. We found our spot in front of Mexico. I decided to go for the boat ride while Matt held our spot and played Yahtzee on his cell phone! I walked right on and had a boat to myself. I think I found a hidden Mickey! Toward the end of the ride, there is a small boat holding drums.. Three of the drum heads form a Mickey head. Sorry, no picture.. but it was fun to find!
Illuminations was absolutely perfect! The timing of the fireworks to the music was RIGHT ON!! Matt and I cuddled and smiled through the whole thing. Then we slowly walked around WS while the crowds walked past us, rushing to the entrance, and surely a long wait for their bus. We waltzed through International Gateway to our waiting Green Beetle and crashed for the night. We planned on sleeping in the next morning while the rest of WDW battled the Marathon!
Stay tuned to hear about our lunch at San Angel Inn... another restaurant with a bad rap....

Seriously, I kept looking at him throughout the day wondering when he was just going to CRASH! He never did... I guess there's something special about running 13 miles through the happiest place on Earth!

So... we returned home to two very anxious and excited kids. I was so excited to show Shaelyn the picture of Mommy and Daddy with Snow White. I pulled it up on the camera and handed it to her. My mom, who was here visiting, said, "Aren't you worried she'll delete your pictures?!" I replied, "Pssh... NO. She always plays with the camera and hasn't ever deleted a picture"...
:guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:
::yes:: You guessed it. Not only did she delete the Snow White pic.. she deleted EVERY SINGLE PICTURE AND VIDEO CLIP WE TOOK ON THE TRIP!!
:faint:
I was devastated... we had so many great pics, and video footage taken specifically to entertain our Dis friends. I don't even know how she did it. I still haven't been able to figure out how to delete the entire memory card in one shot. Well, leave it to the two-year-old to be the one...
I do have a bunch of pictures that I put on Photobucket while we were still in WDW... so I'll do a few more updates. But I'm afraid I lost the last two days..
Sorry friends!!

Oh Sooze, that really stinks! Luckily she's really cute, so that will keep you from killing her, right?
Anyway, you must have a day off school today too, right? I mean -11! Really? This isn't Minnesota or Alaska! I think I'm going to hibernate until we leave for Disneyland next week!
Can't wait to read about the rest of your adventures!

For real... I couldn't be mad at her.. it's not her fault! It's mine for thinking the pictures were safe in the hands of a two-year-old!
Actually, we just had a two-hour delay this morning. Which is fine with me, because we won't have to make up the day!! It does make me laugh, though, that some schools are closed and others aren't... weird! I even came in at normal time today so I could get my lesson plans done for next week. Now I can stay home and enjoy my 3-day weekend!
Stay warm... and have fun in Disneyland! :beach:

Sorry to hear about losing the pictures, but glad to hear about everything else. Congrats to Matt for running the mini!
I have to ask - I don't know why, but I've always been under the impression that the blacklight portion of Music Theater was inspired by VotLM. Is this not true?
PS - Which airline did you use? We're considering switching from NW, and our friends are for sure giving the boot to Airtran.

Actually the blacklight stuff for Music Theater was inspired by the blacklight stuff we used in Brass Theater with Star of Indiana. Now... THEY might've been influenced by VotLM... I do see some similiarities in effects and prop pieces!!
We flew NW. I think that's the last time we'll do it, though. We had a great flight, and all of our luggage arrived fine... I'm just tired of all the extra fees for any little thing you do! I really want to get into SW.. I hear such great things about their customer service.

Thanks Tim! I was thinking the same thing! Nothing is ever really deleted when you hit the delete button, only marked for space to use the next time as needed. SO! if you don't write to the card again, you can recover items off it. Back in the old days of DOS, deleted items were only renamed to a filename with a ?at first spot.
of course, that's back when vinyl records were known to all....
Love the pictures! Oh, I wish I was there, and not here!

I have to say, that SSR (although we own there) has not been our favorite. We've felt that it is too far away from everything and too big. But after this trip, we have definitely grown attached. Simply put, it is exquisitely beautiful.!

I have a few more that I still need to upload (taken from the boats to DTD). But, really, it is a gorgeous resort. And the size adds to the beauty. It's just so expansive and ... well... beautiful!! We DID have a car on property, tho, which helped us get places quickly.

So.. we have a big trip coming up in less than two months. I'd like to finish this up and at least share the rest of the pictures! So here is another chunk for you all!
We slept in the morning after the 1/2 marathon. The full marathon was being run this morning and we have always been warned not to get out and about until at least 10. So, we followed orders!
We finally emerged from our room in time to head over to Epcot for our 11:40 ADRs. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030116.jpg

Can you believe.. there were still GOBS and GOBS of runners making their way through the final mile. Matt and I sat on a bench in Mexico and watched them.. for about an hour. Just watching them DYING ... It was scary at times. And what was the MOST scary?!?! The BLOODY NIPPLES!! Oh my gosh! I have NEVER seen anything like it... and they were everywhere!:crazy2:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030119.jpg

It was neat to see the people who were running for a cause or in memory of someone. I saw several DISgreen shirts and gave them an extra cheer!:cheer2:
We made our way into the big Aztecian pyramid and checked in for lunch. We were seated pretty close to the water, but not on the edge of it, like I was hoping. Oh well! They plopped the chips and salsa on the table and we were in heaven!

We walked around to International Gateway to catch a bus from BCV to AK. It was time for some Everest, Lion King, and Nemo!! On our way, we stopped to smell the BCV. Yes, I said SMELL! You have to try it... it's fabulous. Here, have a peek:

And what was the MOST scary?!?! The BLOODY NIPPLES!! Oh my gosh! I have NEVER seen anything like it... and they were everywhere!:crazy2:
Say WHAT?!?! What causes that? Just another reason I have no desire to run a marathon. :rotfl:
Look yummy?
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030122.jpg
YES!! I love their salsa.
Here I am tying my straw wrapper in a knot and ripping it to see if it comes apart. Anyone else do this?
:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: OMG, yes, I totally do that!
So, on our way around WS, we decided to take pictures of random things. Can you try to name what country they're from?! Enjoy!
Not at all fair for me to play, but I love it - nice shots! :thumbsup2

We caught a bus to Animal Kingdom and immediately figured out how we could see our favorite shows and ride EE at least once. But first... DESSERT!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030145.jpg
Then on to Camp Minnie Mickey...
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030146.jpg
For one of our favorite shows...
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030147.jpg
We were herded into the theatre and forced into a section.. not that it matters, every seat is great in this 'theatre in the round'. We were anxiously anticipating the opening so we could see who was playing the "king" role... you know, the big bass guy who sings "Be Prepared"? We have our favorite and we call him "SUPER DUDE".
Well, guess what?! Super Dude was there!! He is amazing!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030149.jpg
And even better?!? We happened to be sitting on the end of a row that stuck out a bit. And our section happened to be next to the area where the characters enter and exit. Super Dude came RIGHT UP TO MATT and talked to him.... and shook his hand. :faint: It was AWESOME!!
I'll never wash this hand again!

And what's next? Um..... DUH!!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/P1030151.jpg
I didn't take any pictures of the show. Just wanted to sit back and take it all in. But, as always, I just loved it... all of it.... every little bit of it!!
Well, we did our 3 must-dos at AK, so before heading back to SSR to freshen up for MK EMH, we decided to stop by our new DVC home... Animal Kingdom Lodge!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0145.jpg
It's a GORGEOUS place, but VERY different atmosphere from what we are used to. Looking forward to staying here to really soak it up!

O.K., so I'm sitting here at lunch at work and saw your post on my thread and can't believe it because I posted here yesterday, I SWEAR I DID, where did my post go.
I played the game of what photo was in what country, even took notes and put them in order bummer!!!
Anyway, let me try to remember what i said. LOVE the update, so glad you were able to get the pics back so we could experience it with you. My friends husband runs marathans so I've been warned of teh bloody nipples, all I can say about that is EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Glad you didn't have pics of that :rotfl:
Your meal in MExico looked WAY better than ours. The Mahi Mahi looked fabulous, I SO would have gotten that if I would have seen it before, oh well, the atmosphere there is beautiful. You guys didn't do the boat ride? I guess without kids we probably would have skipped it.
The straw thing though, OMG!!! Just when I think we couldn't be anymore alike I see you doing that. I DO THAT WITH MY STRAW WRAPPER AT EVERY SINGLE MEAL WE SIT DOWN TO WHEN WE EAT OUT, great minds think alike;) .
Loved your AK day so far. We HAVE to see Nemo this year. Loved your AK pics too, we can't wait to stay there, so is it as pretty in person? Can't wait for more!

I was really expecting the worst since I hadn't really seen a good review on here. But we were very pleasantly surprised! I gues it depends on the day and dish. We skipped the boat ride.. I did it by myself while Matt was waiting for Illuminations one night. Just had to see my favorite part with the 'fireworks'. I think I found a hiden Mickey on a boat made from drums. Mabye...

AKL is stunningly beautiful! It just has a different vybe to it that we will need to experience as a resort guest, not just as passers-by! We tried to peek at the DVC construction, but it was really hard to do, especially since we really didn't know the layout of the resort.
If you don't see Nemo this time around, I WILL disown you as a Dis AND Facebook friend.:snooty:

We were up early this morning, wanting to be on time for our first Disney Tour EVER!!
We enjoyed a quiet walk through International Gateway. They had lists for Akershus guests and Segway tour participants, but not Undiscovered Future World tour folks... oh well, they let us in anyway!!
We checked in at guest relations and got our handy headphones. Those things are amazing! Our tour guide could just walk and talk and we could hear everything he said. Very cool! There were about 12 people in our group. Unfortunately, they were mostly DUDS. Nice folks, just quiet and not fun. I wanted to be goofy, but didn't feel comfortable. Guess I'll just walk around and learn stuff.
I didn't take pictures. 1. I wanted to listen 2. I have lots of pictures of Epcot 3. The really cool places we went didn't allow pictures!!
The tour was 4 hours long... felt like 30 minutes. I was just enthralled with our CM and his knowledge of all things behind-the-scenes! Here he is with Matt and me at the end of the tour:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0186.jpg
And here are a few highlights:
*Did you know that Disneyland was built in 11 months? When it opened, the asphalt was still not completely set and the ladies' high-heeled shoes left imprints in the ground. There are still sections of asphalt in DL today that have these marks! (What that has to do with Future World, I have no idea... but I love the story!)
*They really do wash the 3D glasses! We saw a poor CM sending them through the big ol' machine.
*"Backstage" at WDW is really not pretty! The magic certainly stops at the "Cast Members Only" sign!
*We went to the CM building and saw the COSTUME room! It's AMAZING! rows and rows of CM costumes, hats, belts, lederhosen, you name it! They explained the process of how CMs sign out and return costumes. This is also the building all CMs report to and walk through on their way to work at Epcot. It's the closest thing they could get to Walt's vision of Epcot being a community where people live and work.
*We got to go in a back door at Soarin' and ride front and center with no wait. Oh yea! One of the highlights for sure!
*We saw the Illuminations floats up close. It really is BIG! We learned that Illuminations has three 'movements'. The first is 'chaos', the last is 'meaning' and we can't remember the middle... oops!
*A lot of the stuff we heard about is in the "Imagineers Guide to Epcot" that you can buy at most stores on Disney property!
I highly recommend the tour, it's very reasonable! We hope to do more tours in the future!!
We were absolutely STARVING after the tour and headed to the Electric Umbrella!! We were actually able to score our normal seating area:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0187.jpg

And our yummy Electric Umbrella food:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0190.jpg

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0201.jpg
DTD was uneventful! We shopped for the wonderful people back home that were taking care of our children for us! Found some ADORABLE purses for my sister and me... I'll have to take a picture and post it.. they were also ON SALE (which is the second time in a row that I've found purses on sale at WDW:confused3 ) I also found these little lime green DIS beauties:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0189.jpg
We spent quite a lot of time at the World of Disney. Shopping without children is really a relaxing experience. If you haven't done so, I highly recommend it!
Next stop.. Magic Kingdom!! Lots of fun pictures... won't you please come back!?

Funny quick story... I have a girl in my class who's initials are MK... I can't help but think of Magic Kingdom whenever I see her!!
So we were done shopping and decided to head over to MK for the evening. Just thought I would post the pictures of our adventures!
The highlight of the evening was riding in my Indy car (haven't done those in AGES) and as I was rounding the corner where the castle comes into view, Wishes started! It was beautiful!

It's VERY true! Seriously, we were in a room backstage at Universe of Energy.. it looked like a 'set' it was so icky! Old toaster ovens and microwaves, grimey coffee pots... I'm actually surprised they even take tours back there! ... but I still plan on working there. I'm guessing that by the time I'm retired, I will have experienced plenty of magic, and will be ready to share!princess:

We were up bright and early for our last day in WDW. They were having EMH at Epcot, so we decided to take advantage of short waits, and, hopefully, most of the runners being GONE!
We ate breakfast at the Artist's Palatte at SSR. I left a drawing on one of the little easels located throughout the seating area:

We drove over to BWV again to park, then walked into our favorite 'secret' entrance to WS. The weather was eerie... low clouds, misty... well, here.. look for yourself!

Notice anything missing?:confused3
Spaceship Earth!! It was gone... just hiding out in the clouds!

We went right on through the fog and meandered over to Test Track. There was NO ONE there. Seriously, we walked right into an empty queue!

Here is Matt enjoying the freedom:

And here we are enjoying our own car:

We, well, I took a quick flight to Mars:

On our Undiscovered FW tour, we learned that when they began offering two sides to this ride (green and orange) that they actually DECREASED the intensity of the orange, even after offering the wimpy green. I KNEW it wasn't as intense as when I first rode it!!! And Matt still gets woogedy, even though orange really isn't as bad as it used to be... daggone law suits...
Next stop, a quick bathroom break:

What SOOZE?!?! What are you doing taking a picture of the inside of your bathroom stall?! Well, it just so happened that this bathroom was in Innoventions, it was completely empty (Kinda like the rest of Future World that morning), and while I was doing my deed, all I could hear was the wonderful music that they play in the FW area... just me, my thoughts, my stall, and my FW music... sounds heavenly to me!:cloud9: So, I took a picture of it, so I could remember!
Next stop, Spaceship Earth. Our mission today was to check out the exit exhibits. We usually blow past this, but knew that this hi-tech kind of stuff was exactly what our son would LOVE! So after we took deep breaths of burning Rome, found our two hidden-Mickeys, and created our own future:

(don't ask about the funky thing sticking out of my head.. I have NO idea!)
... we played with the Siemens stuff afterward. Sorry, no pictures, but we did have a great time playing with the stuff!! Tyson is going to love it, so we got excited thinking about being able to bring him here... soon!!
It was getting close to lunch and I was dying for Chinese. Matt can't do that stuff, so we split up around WS. He went right to get fish and chips, I went left for some sweet and sour chicken. We planned on meeting at the American Pavillion. I had to wait entirely too long for my food! No fault of the CMs, just the large, unDisneyeducated family in front of me who obviously didn't decided what they all wanted before stepping up to the cashier...
By the time I hiked it over to America, Matt was waiting at a table for me, with NO FOOD! Guess the fish and chips place didn't open for an early lunch. He settled on a good ol' American burger. Here's my entree:

For the rest of the afternoon, we did what Matt and Susie do best...
LISTEN TO VOICES OF LIBERTY!! Over and over and over!!!
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t161/sooze73/09%20Disney%20Mini%20Marathon/File0251.jpg
We approached the lead lady the first time we saw them this weekend and asked if they would have the personnel to do "Golden Dream". I guess it takes a LARGE ensemble to pull this piece off. She said she didn't think so, so we figured we'd go YET AGAIN without hearing this piece live.
We were surprised, though, to see a HUGE group today. We were counting the sopranos and Matt said, "They have THREE today... they are SO doing Golden Dream!!" So we anxioulsy waited... through four sets.. and ...:sad1: No Golden Dream. It is an AMAZING song!

And with that... we were done. Time to make the long trek back to the car... The good part about leaving was that we really were missing the kids. We were also getting very excited about our upcoming trip during Spring Break.
Thanks so much for hangin' out for this extended Live report!
Sure hope to see you on my newest TR... coming soon!!

That was a really great tr. glad you had such a wonderful time.
So your husband won't ride the orange side of mission space?
My 12 yr son won't ride either because of the news stories about some kids dying after getting off the ride. He remembers that every time my husband tries to get him to go with him. Personally I like the green side.
Take Care:goodvibes

Thanks for staying with me for the long haul!
Matt WILL ride the orange side, but usually only once per trip. It just throws him off a bit. DS, who is 8, LOVES it and will ride it (orange side!) over and over with me! It really isn't as intense as it was when it first opened... probably due to above-mentioned incidents!!
Hope to see you on my TR.. I'll be posting a link soon!
