View Full Version : Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
I just looked at their menu and saw the following
DINNER ONLY
Pot Roast $9.79
Fried Chicken $9.49
Barbecue Rib Dinner $10.49
Chicken Jambalaya $9.49
Chicken and Rib Combo $13.99
Pork Chop $9.49
Would that be considered a counter service meal and if so has anyone ever eaten dinner there and gotten any of these items? Thanks!:lovestruc

I ate there quite a few times during our stay in Sept. The food was good, some of it I believe they even make fresh after you order it. Or that could have just been considering the time of year that we were there (somewhat slow).
The food court can be a little confusing, but the food was still quite enjoyable. I plan to eat there during our next trip. I do remember getting the ribs and chicken, I can't exactly remember what my wife ate, but all was good. If you want a detailed examination of the BBQ, well I can just say it was BBQ with sauce on the ribs, which I am not a big fan of. I prefer dry ribs and apply the sauce while eating, but that is just me. Still it was good, not the best ribs I have ever had, but I'd do it again.
it is a quick service restaurant according to the DDP which is how we paid for our meals.
Oh and plan your meals so that you get your desserts too. They have good ones to choose from and I highly recommend eating the beignnets (sic?) right away while they are hot/warm, they were not as enjoyable once they cooled down. So if you're like me that would mean eat dessert first :thumbsup2
Hope you have a good trip.

Thanks so much Jason, exactly the info I was looking for! Off topic a bit but did you enjoy POFQ? This is our first time there though we have stayed at every other moderate...lol. Thanks again!e:flower3:

I've also had the chicken and ribs and the 1/2 chicken dinner at POFQ. It was very good and came with two sides (I got mashed potatoes and corn). It also came with a cornbread muffin (or well, it was more like half a large muffin, it was good).
Along with dessert, my mom and I could easily split one of these for dinner and be pleasantly full.
FYI, when we were there they had limited bottled drinks - water, juices and milk - they didn't stock bottled pops (like coke, diet coke, etc). I don't know if it is still that way. You could get a fountain pop (where they give you the paper cup and fill at the fountains) so it was still an option, but we took the meals to go to eat at OKW so our take away drinks were kind of limited.

Where is this QSD located? Last time we were there we did not venture out to the other hotels other than Pepper Market at CSR.
Oops sorry, don't know what QSD is.

I did not see cereal on the breakfast menu. do they have the individual dry cerals. Are they considered a snack on the dining plan? Also do they have pasteries that fall under the snack catagory?
Thanks:confused:

We stayed at POFQ in Oct 2009. They had several items at the bakery that were considered a snack credit - beignets, muffins and donuts etc. Many people like the beignets but we just didn't want to wait for them to be done. The muffins are HUGE and pretty tasty. We were able to split one between two people. Also, we had the ribs for dinner. DH really loves ribs and thought they were pretty good. Not the best ever, but not bad either.

Saw your post & had to comment. POFQ is our favorite resort. We had to stay at CBR last year because there was no availability but we're headed back to FQ this April. Can't wait. Love the resort - it's beautiful. Early morning walks along the river are so enjoyable. DS loves the pool there & the boat ride to DTD is very relaxing. There are also carriage rides available there at night. Have a wonderful time.

Port Orleans French Quarter. Frankly I'd never recommend going out of your way to go there just for the food, but it's a decent place to eat if you're staying there.

They do have individual cereals in those plastic bowls where you peel back the top, and they do have pastries that are snack credits (I got a large cinnamon roll there, don't know what else they have though). I *think*, however, that at POFQ an individual cereal plus a thing of milk counts as 2 snack credits.

we had a great time at POFQ, they do have other items on the menu's that are not listed on these sites....We had breakfast always there and the gkids had the cereal some days in the little individual cartons..but their favorite things were the kids breakfast meals ..pancakes or eggs and sausages or bacon....they were happy little kiddos.
Hope you have a great time,
and everything at the food court is included as counter service meals or QS meals....
ask the check out person what is included with your meals or breakfasts, as sometimes we overlook what we are entitled to get.
We didnt do the meal plan but I remember quite a few people asking and that is good...

We go out of our way to eat at PO, if not staying there. We like to take the boat from DTD. My family has tried the ribs, chicken and ribs, and pot roast dinners. My daughter chose a double side of mac n cheese with hers. I think I had a side of baked beans with my ribs. When you add dessert, it becomes alot of food. The cost for four meals, dessert and drinks was around $74. All covered on the DDP. :thumbsup2 POR has a create your own pasta station that is also very good. Also, offered there is a chef turkey dinner.

You could always bring some cereal with you. Since your little one is really young, you would be sure that she could have something you know she will eat. ;)
