My neighbor got a 40% off pin today and is not planning to go back to WDW. She said if i wanted it I could have it. Can i use someone's PIN if they are not going with me?

I'm pretty sure it's a no. We just received an email with a 40% discount (PIN # provided) and it clearly states Non-Transferrable.

How about this: I booked a trip last Feb. using my name-of course! :thumbsup2 We took my 9-year old niece, who has a different last name. So there were 3 members of our group with one last name, and one that was different.

This morning, I wake up to a 40% PIN code! BUT, it says, "Xxxx family", with my nieces's last name!!

Why is it addressed to her?? :confused3

This has happened to us also. We took a cousin with us a few years ago (different last name), and he was considered a "junior" for the room. We got a pin code in his name at our address this week, but we haven't called to see if we can use it yet.

Well, my husband called this morning and the CM said we couldn't use the PIN because it was attached to his cousin's name, even though it was our address. The CM then tried to get him to go ahead and book a room, but he declined as the main reason we're looking into a WDW vacation now is the code.

:sad2: :sad2:

The persons name with the PIN must be on the reservation.

Must be something about ppl tagging along! We forced some friends of ours to go with us last year & they got a code last week :scared1: Not us though...they know that we're the suckers that will come even without a code

Don't like to be shady but can you say that it is "x" when really it is "y" :rolleyes1

I have a question about this. When we signed up for Disney Destinations newsletter, my wife did it (about 4 years ago). She used her first name and my email address. Well, now that we are divorced, the email still came to me. It has her first name and mentions my last name. What are the odds that they will let me use it?

You mean like book a vacation using someone else name?!?
Well that would make a difficult check in at your resort when everything would be under the other persons name, including their credit card number and tickets to the parks.

slim to none. She has to be on the reservation.

My husband didn't mention the name on the code when he called, but it was connected to his cousin's name in their system. So no. We were hoping it would work since it was sent to our address, but apparently the codes are attached to the names. Seems to be a lot of wasted money in mailing these things out to people who can't use them.

Man this 40% of thing is killing me. I waned to upgrade from ASM to CR. This is the whole reason I want the code. I didnt even call because I think i remember the CSM telling me the person needed to be on the reservation

Codes are NON transferable, no matter what. When you give the CM the code it pulls up a name. If its not your name, youre not using it. Only exception is if its a spouses name of childs name and YOUR name is also in disney's household system

So here's what happened: I called, and made no mention of any last names, other than my own. I told her I had a PIN code for 40% off. She asked me what it was, I read it off to her. That's all there was to it!

So, we're booked for Nov. 15th-20th, at Pop Century!!

The CM didnt verify the name on the pin was you? They can still charge you regular price when you show up to check in, just like if you book an AP rate and dont have an AP or book a FL rate and dont have a FL id. Gotta love new CM's though

Well, I called back, to change our dates. :lmao:

I really wasn't planning another trip so soon-we were there last Feb.-but could not resist such a chance. I did ask, and really, all the email says, is "C_____ family..." blah, blah, 40% etc.

I just gave them our names, and asked if it mattered that our last names were different than the one in the email. He said no.

Oh, and I changed our dates to 11/29-12/5.

No...I mean like exchange the child's name that got the code for one that is going with you. It's not as though the child that got the code could even use it if they wanted to :confused3

I would have originally thought no, but it would appear some folks are having luck using other peoples PIN codes so I would call and try! Good luck! :)

The code didn't even actually come in HER name, it was addressed to the C____ family. My last name is different.

I was there in Feb., but I can't remember: will they make me show i.d. when I check in, to prove that I am a member of the C____ family?? They said the code was fine, I can't believe they'd not honor it at check in. :scared1:

The email came to my email address, but is addressed to my niece. She's 10! She has no driver's license or other i.d.:confused3

This is what I get for taking her with me last Feb.: aggravation now!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

My aunt just received a 40% off code. She called and said she'd like to book a vacation for me and my DH as my birthday present. She wouldn't be going with us. What are the chances they will let my aunt book the package for us using the code?

Oh sorry I thought you were the OP that wanted to use their neighbors code. It was sent to your family member but you have a differant last name? As long as the person who's name is on the pin (disney has the first name on record who they sent it to) is in your "household" with disney then yes, you can use it.

Smi727- Chances are slim to nill

I didn't have an issue either. THe only trouble they gave me was when I was going to get 2 rooms at Pop, they were going to make me have 2 reservations because my sister was going. I fixed that and got the Contemporary. Only a little more than I would have paid for the 2 rooms at the Pop with no discount

Just want to respectfully disagree with some other posts. You can book the 40% off deal if a postcard comes to your house, even if the name listed is not you. I know cause I did it. After reading a lot of other posts, I called and said I wanted to book a room with the discount I received on a postcard. They asked me the name and I told them. It came addressed to a friend of mine who was on a reservation when we went about 3 years ago. He doesn't and never has lived with me. She said hold on while I check with Guest Services to make sure you can use this PIN. And while we were on hold, she priced out the vacation I wanted. Then she talked to Guest Services who said yes, as long as that PIN came to my household, anyone in the household could use it.

Then I got MK Tower at Contemp for $258/night. Yowza!

So if someone tells you no, tell them to check with Guest Services, and if they refuse, call back and talk to someone else.

I think it just depends on the CM. Some are real difficult and won't give you anything, other's don't care as much. I would just keep calling back and you should find one that will do it for you.

Thanks for the tip about Guest Services. I think we'll try again for another CM as my husband wasn't impressed with the one he spoke to.

For everyone in the situation: It can't hurt to call and ask. One year we got a postcard in someone else's name but to our exact address. It took a few phone calls, but someone finally booked it. I did subsequently call back several times to make changes and I was never questioned on the code. There were no issues that entire year and we booked 3 trips with that code, stayed in 4 different resorts.
