Is it customary to always tip at the spa, even if you're just going to the suriel bath? I mean, I would expect to tip for a personal service like a massage, but what about a treatment like the suriel in which you kind of "do it yourself?" If yes, how much?
What about when you use the rainforest room?

I wouldn't think there would be anyone to tip if you didn't have a "hands on" treatment. I wouldn't tip the girl at the desk who checks you in.

There is an attendant who takes you to the bath area and tells you about the different types of mud and lotions. She is also responsible for cleaning up the bath area when you are finished. We've done the surial bath twice and made quite a mess both times. We tipped the attendant $15 each time.

I tip 20% for hands-on treatments and 15% for treatments where the attendant just does a few things and then leaves you (like the surial or hydrotherapie bath). :)

Do you typically tip before or after the treatment? You wouldn't tip for the Rainforest room, would you?

There's a charge slip you sign at the end that has a line for gratuity and you just put it there.
And no, for the Rainforest Room only, no tipping necessary. :)

I just added it to the charge slip at the end.
