I didn't have Tom Jenkins...but my guides name was Randy Kruger and he is excellent. So if you don't like Tom think about Randy.

Greg Cootz was our guide back in 1995 when we first toured and later purchased. Greg was low key and very informative. We have always kept in touch over the years and just did an add-on in November from Greg as well. I believe all the Disney guides would provide equally great service. We do think that Greg has a little extra Magic though. Good Luck

We just closed this past October with Greg. He was wonderful! No pressure, just a lot of information and time (2 1/2 hours to be exact!) he provided us. We even did an add-on a month later with him. He's a great salesperson if Tom or Randy doesn't work out,...

We got passed off to Greg Cootz from Jackie Layne who he married and she quit Disney, I don't think we've ever hear one word from this guy since we were passed off, Jackie was great always kept in touch, I've even had questions about add-ons and stuff and he has never gotten back to us, So I would look for a different guide, and when I want to do an add-on, I'll ask for someone else too, I'm amazed from some of the postings from otehr members who say they get cards at holidays and phone calls and even messages when they are "home" from their guides still.Ï

We had Bruce Douglas as our sales quide. He was very low key, and professional. He had been a Quality Assurance person for DVC prior to joining the sales team and also had experience with Marriott timeshare sales.

I don't think she is new she is the Senior Vacation Club Guide we had her in May of 99 because it was our last day of our trip and only had 30 minutes to see what the whole thing was about and she was the only available person at that time and she took us around at the Boardwalk and answered all our questions she knew we had to leave and told us anymore questions we could contact her which we did and she gave us all the answers we needed and it was a pleasure.

we had greg too, i thought he was horrible. He gave a good presentation but once we signed the initial paperwork, he NEVER returned phone calls!! It was very frustrating!! While waiting for approval ( which can seem like forever!) i made one phone call to see how much longer it would be....10 days LATER (and no phone call returned) we received our approval letter. GRRR, all that sweating for nothing. I felt as though once he got our signatures on the dotted line, he could care less. When we buy additional points, i will not go through Greg.

We also had a terrible experience w/Greg. We toured and at the time of our appt., he gave us undivided attention. About a month later after I had convinced my DH to join DVC, I called him. I also had been in touch w/The Timeshare Store. When I got him on the phone, I told him my DH and I were very interested in joining but that we had a few questions we needed answered. He said he was just sitting down to an appt. but would call me right back. Two more phone calls to him and two and a half days later, I heard back from him. He made it like he was just calling to check in with me and made no reference to my prior phone call. We decided to buy a resale and had done so in the interim. Somehow he found out, called us and questioned us about it. I felt bad and did end up doing an add-on with him but the service has been none the better. I never got any of the perks others who have bought resales or add-ons have spoken on. Sadly, I cannot recommend him and hope you have a better experience with whatever guide you end up with.

We had him way back in 1994, but got transfered to another guide when he got a promotion out of the guide area. I had heard he was back to being a guide, but didn't know for sure. We thought he was wonderful, as was the one they gave us after him (who no longer works for Disney). Our current guide is not as much of a go getter, and is difficult to understand on the phone. I wonder if we can get Randy back. :)

As long as people are looking for good guides, let me plug our guide, Ed Avila. He was non -pushy, informative, and didn't give us any pressure or goofy stories about Vero. In addition, he was VERY patient with questions and numerous phone calls after our tour.

My hubby is an economist and a tax expert and he went over the finance aspect with a fine tooth comb - upfront charges, history of dues, taxes, comparison with vacation costs going forward both in and outside of the resorts. We changed our minds TWICE about which resort, entailing a whole new set of paperwork. Sheesh, we even made ME annoyed! Through it all , he was patient, VERY good natured, returned calls in a timely manner and was generally a joy to work with. He was still there and still helpful when we did a 100 point add on in the fall.Believe me , whatever commission ths man made, he earned it.

We are very happy with our guide Roland Lammers. He was very patient, low pressure and thoroughly answered all of my questions, even after our tour. He has been most helpful as we have waffled back and forth between VWL and VB. He is great to deal with!

We've had 3 guides. 1st was Jeff Tilden who showed us OKW back in 95. Having just bought a house, our purchase couldn't happen then. We spoke to him a few times over the next couple of years. He left DVC.
Then came Trish McCay. She was helpful in keeping us informed as to when OKW would sell out. When it was buy now or not get OKW she called us and let us know(Feb. 98). A few days passed and we called her to buy. She said she was leaving DVC and transferred us to our 3rd guide.
Larrissa is our guide now. She was helpful with this purchase and our BWV add-on. Once while at OKW we went over to BWV to tour what we added-on. Larrissa took us around. She always retuned my calls when inquiring for additional points or an up-coming sell-out. She has however never called us when we are on site or sent us any type of card except mass sell out postcards which I figure everyone gets.
As far as I am concerned, she's a pro. We got 1 christmas card from the agent that sold us our house...then nothing. These folks are real estate agents, earning a living from making sales. I never expected the to be lifelong friends...spruce

Exactly, Spruce!

I can understand wanting to have a good guide to help with your purchase but once the papers are signed their job is really over. Some may stay in touch for future sales or because they develop a relationship.

Judy Kaufman 1-800-827-7163 is my guide and she is wonderful. I am bad about buying small shares (I have brought 25 shares at least 3 times) and she has never complainted or ask why I wanted so small amount (when she was not there and I had to deal with some of the others - they did ask that).

She always returns my phone calls.

hi: i've worked with celeste chaffaut on 2 purchases and she's been great. she returns our phone calls in a timely manner; and if i asked her an unusual question, she'll say she's not sure and find out the correct answer. she'll call back with the answer if necessary. i didn't get to even meet her personally until about 5 months after the initial purchase, and she's even better in person.

Did anyone have James Thomas as a guide? He was our guide from 1993 until sometime in 1999. He handled our original purchase and all our add--ons. What a wonderful guide he was. We did get cards and messages from him which made us feel "wanted." He was a smart person and an asset to DVC sales. Wonder where he is now. Anyone know?

and she was great. A real pro. She was reccommended to us by a good friend who was already a DVCer and we were not disappointed. We have mutual friends who have joined since then and once again she was great. Quick to return calls and answer our endless questions. Smooth closing and no problems. We haven't heard from her since but didn't expect to hear from her. We've never had any problems. And if we did have problems we'd take it up with MS.

We liked her... she called us several times(once while she had the flu) and answered all my little nit picky questions and never pushed... she was to the point and easy to deal with for us... :)

We had Celeste Chaffaut in 1997.She was great we toured okw and bwv with our 23 mounth old for 3 hours and she couldn't been nicer.

We had Gib McCain, who was very low key and very helpful. We really enjoyed working with him. Not at all what I expected when we signed up to go on the BWV tour. My husband had scheduled the tour, and I was somewhat skeptical about a "timeshare." I ended up being very impressed. Even when Gib could have "sugar coated" answers, he did not and was absoltely honest. Since we have bought, when questions or problems have come up, he has returned phone calls immediately, sometimes from home, and has made sure that we got the help we needed.

I don't know if we have ever gotten a christmas card, but I do know that Gib has been a source of accurate and timely information and DVC has been everything we hoped it would be

When I purchased VWL in November 2000, I had Chris Mansour as a guide and thoroughly enjoyed his demeanor, attention to my questions, and time he took to explain it all to me and my family, he gave me some funding suggestions then left the room while I did the figuring. I took so much of his time (about 2 hours) that I was having low blood sugars, as I am a diabetic, and he went and even got lemonade for me. And when I had questions about the closing afterward, he promptly returned my call. I would highly recommend Chris.

Anyone dealt with Karen. I took the tour at BW back in Jan/Feb and she was my guide. Very friendly and helpful. Answered all my questions and said she would call in a few weeks to see how I was doing on my decision.

Well, I decided to go with a resale at OKW. I had asked her about the possibility of resales and she had told me that they were few and far between and that Disney bought up most of them for the waiting list that they had in their system.

I haven't heard from her and don't know if she would have had a way to find out that I've made and offer on a resale. I'm a little concerned about calling to tell her my direction after all the effort that she put in. Anyone had a similar situation? :rolleyes:

We used Celeste in November and she was very helpful and patient. Even though we only bought 150 points she compared a resale we were considering and based on banked points etc she showes how Disney was better for us in this particular instance. She even said that there have been some resales that she couldn't beat but appreciated the opportunity. Called MS to make first ressies.

Tom Jenkins is our guide and he was great! He answered all our questions, never pushed and was prompt in returning phone calls. I would recommend him.

Just wanted to put in a HUGE plug for our guide Michelle McAllister, We've had her for six years now & she is absolutely the best!!! We got so lucky when we were assigned to her! We took three years to decide, and during that time she was always wonderful, answering questions, etc.. never pushy at all!!!

Carol Anne DeAngelo has been our guide and contrary to what others may believe...you can be friends with your guide! We have never met, as all our negotiations and discussions were done via telephone, but I can tell you...she's helped us with far more than our purchase. We have exchanged uncountable e-mails regarding so many topics...from spending time with family, travel, to what's going on with the brush fires in Florida to helping me figure out where to purchase a bottle of Cristal for our anniversary! She's not only been our guide, but a true friend. Way above and beyond the call of duty. I hope our friendship lasts for a long time to come...kudos to you Carol Anne!!!

We had Chris Mansour when we joined BWV and he was fantastic! Never pushed us to join and answered all our questions, as a matter of fact he just called last week to see how we were enjoying DVC! So if you need a guide he's your man!!! :)

Spiceycat - our guide is Judy too.

She has been really helpful and always returns calls very quickly although she has worried about the time difference a couple of times but she's always reached us at a convenient time of day (for us).

We are hoping to meet her in December when we come over for our holiday which has already been booked and so is 'off site', she suggested we give her a call when we arrive so I'm looking forward to it.

Our original guide was Greg Cootz. He was fine at the presentation and was very knowledgable.However, he told me he would call me in the first year to see if I had any questions about banking pts etc. He never called and I have always remembered that. We are thinking about an add on or a resale. When I called, I specifically did not ask for him. They look you up in the computer though. Celeste took the call and told me Greg had been PROMOTED!

Hmmmm....no one mentioned having Julie Hughes as a guide...is this for re-sale guides only??

Well--anyway, we have Julie as our guide (through Disney when we bought shares at VB) and let me just say--she is THE friendliest person I know! She is helpful, smart and always willing to chat with me. She remembered my DH's name right off the bat and always asks how he's doing when I call her. I feel like she is family! LOL! :D

One of the nicest things about her is that she is prompt with returning calls and never makes me feel silly for asking so many questions. That's always important to me because DVC stuff can be sooooo confusing.

If you are looking for a guide--she's the one! I cannot say enough good things about her.

Our Guide is Byron Helgeson and he has been wonderful. He returns all calls promptly and has taken care of details we thought would be a problem. He is very nice and very knowledgeable about DVC. I would recommend him in a second. I am one who stresses about major purchases but he has made our buying experience a pleasant one! We are happy to have him as our Guide.

Greg was our guide also. He was great during the presentation. He answered all our questions honestly. He recommended buying where we wanted to stay; explained pool hopping was a perk, not a guarantee; explained all the rules fairly and honestly; never pressured us to commit to anything; called us to see if we had questions; answered the same questions a year after the first meeting; sent a postcard after we purchased.
He has not called since we purchased to see if we want an add-on. I appreciate this, I hate telemarketing. If I want to purchase more points, I will figure that out all on my own!
I would much rather have an honest, low pressure salesman than a salesman pressuring me into buying (I consider being called at home to see if I want to purchase more points pressure) with sugar coated facts.

She ended up being the "guide at the time" when I signed up yesterday and she seemed very nice. Since I have been hanging out on these boards so much I am not sure that I learned anything new but what she did have to say was essential and accurate. Also, thanks for the Welcome Home!

but judging by the others comments, she has some pretty stiff competition. I am glad to see that the majority of DVC guides are great, but Linda has really gone above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions. Honest and friendly and responsive and caring, she truly is wonderful. And Linda, if you read this, we will see you in October!

We had Byron Helgeson and found him to be terrific. We bought over the phone without ever seeing the resort. He spent 2 hours on the phone with us on a Sunday afternoon and answered all of our questions with no pushing. He even told us some possible downsides that we did not think of to ask.He has always called back when we called him.
You would not expect him to be your friend for he is a salesperson. He did,however, make sure he met us in person on our first trip to the DVC.

I agree with those of you who praise Judy. I just dealt with her regarding an add on. During a conversation, I casually mentioned I have never been to HH. A few days later in the mail, I received a package of info she gathered from her recent stay at HH, including the materials given at check-in about the resort and coupons for area restaurants and stores. Now, I'm anxious to check out HH!

He's our guide & has been great. Returns calls, follows up. He called last summer just to let us know that BWV was going fast, so if we wanted to add on this would be a good time. He has been with DVC a long while .

We had a very low key salesman, but he did always get back to us when we called. He wasn't available when we flew down to purchase, which, at first, seemed annoying. But we were given another guide (Megan Moriarty) to finalize everything and it went fine.

We did stop in the next day to see Tony and boy was that fun! AFter talking on the phone with someone and never meeting in person, we were all hysterical for five straight minutes over what we EXPECTED each other to look like and what we actually look like! He gave us a great tour, even though we already purchased the day before, and expect to deal with him for add ons.

We had joan somebody for our first in 98. We were still in the computer when i made an appointment in 99 with greg cootz. Found him to be very low key and informative.

People, I sell capital equipment for a living. If you expect me to be there to fix your machine (Or to make sure your room is fine in the DVC case), your a blooming idiot. Spruce was right, The sales people job is to SELL, same as mine. If everything else goes wrong, don't blame them, blame the rest of DVC. And as for them calling you everytime you leave a message, too many people get information constipation. Question, question, question, but no sale. Next thing you know, our guide is unemployed. Great guy, but no job.
Now, most of you on this board have bought and intend to buy and or add on, but I bet 90% of the people who call with questions, will never buy.
There, I feel better venting. If you took this personal, too bad because you are not my customers. Ha!

When we had Greg for a guide, we had already signed the preliminary papers. And it still took him over a week to call. I'm sorry but I don't agree. If he can spend 2 hours with us answering questions, I would think he could take 5 mins out of his busy schedule to return a call to a customer who is already buying.

I can't imagine not receiving a call back, and being reassigned to a new guide.

My guide has been with me since our original signing in 1998. I have added on three times, not all at the same resort, and have learned so much valuable information from Kim. He has shared a lot from his own personal experiences with DVC.

He returns phone calls...FAST. I posted on another thread that it's as if he is sitting on the phone. In the three years, I have never had to wait for a return phone call.

He is honest. Kim Moore helps you sort out your needs, and tries to direct you to how you can get those needs met through DVC.

I have gotten a lot of insider info, I think. He is professional and proactive. He keeps in touch with me, and makes me feel important. No question is stupid, no detail to small. Kim makes me feel as though I am his only customer, although, I know he is very busy, and Very successful with DVC. :cool: :D
