View Full Version : North VS. South: The Mo Edition (ver. 1)

Many, many years ago something called the Mason Dixon Line was created. (Some people think it's actually drawn in chalk.....but it's not........so don't bother looking.) This, my friends, is what separates the northern states from the southern states in the United States.
Here's a game I thought we could all play:
Everyone makes a post listing something that makes either the north or the south something "special". It could be a type of food, a cultural aspect, or even a type of music that originated in a certain state. (You get the idea.) On Friday, at the end of this week, we can loosley tally up all the entries to see who wins......and then we can all point, ridicule and make fun of each other for our stoopid answers. :cutie:
Some minor rules
1. You don't have to be from the area of the United States you're leaving an answer/vote for.
2. Each person can only leave 1 (one) answer per day, which means, since it's Tuesday, each person will only be allowed 4 (foowah) entries total.
3. People who do not currently reside in the US, such as the adorable Glen, can be on my team. :lmao: Just kidding. You can vote for whomever you like.
That about wraps it up. Have fun! :woohoo:

Even though his vote doesn't really count, I'd have to agree with you guys. Every time I've been to Orlando (around 10 or 11) I've noticed it pretty much is chain heaven. St. Pete was the same, but not quite as bad.

I wasn't quite as impressed with NYC pizza, but they're both very different conceptually. One's made to eat as you're walking down the street, and the other is best eaten as a meal while sitting down.

I was pretty surprised at the delivery prices. It wasn't too bad. Two Thai meals, a bottle of WR and a pack of cigs (not for me) came to about $65 with tips. Most of which was due to the price of the liquor. And from what I understand, sending your laundry out and having it delivered back is a lot cheaper than I expected.......but I'd still rather do it myself in my own washing machine. Unfortunately that's not always possible to do when you live in a 12-story walk-up.

Considering Disneyland was basically Walt's failure, I don't think we can give you that one.
Disney World, although wonderful, I don't think is a set-match considering the state is resides in and outside of Orlando, Florida is not that great!
I want to fail like that then......

Huh? What was that you said?
NY although one of the most expensive states to live in, offers a lot of different opportunities outside of NYC (I don't live in NYC, but do travel there frequently) and is for the most part very forward thinking, more then we can say for most of Florida.

You can't fault Walt Disney World for EVERYONE in the state. If that were true you wouldn't post on this board because some of the people on the Community board say mean things.
Disneyland is a failure is it... How long has it been open, and making people happy? Yeah, Walt would have hated that all the happy people.
:rolleyes1 Mighty disparaging words from someone who not only chooses to vacation in FL but OWNS DVC.
New York also has the Love Canal taxic waste site, and the radioactive West Valley site

Although I love going to portions of Florida, I hate to say it, but I definitely agree with you there. There are a couple cities where I felt a little out of place even though I was hanging out with gay people. In NYC I feel free to just relax and be myself.
I'm not sure that's a good thing or not.

Hey, they could have been doing the other Oklahoma! song--From the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Here's a sample lyric..
And we'll dress you up nifty in a big Stetson
With some SPF 50 so no sun gets in
'cause that freckle on your skin can do a feller in
and the shade is mighty thin in Oklahoma
and our leading cause of death...is melanoma!

OMG, Orlando Mike! We were in the local pub, watching the game and having a drink when that band came on with the Pinball Wizard...

Apparently my absentee ballot was lost in the mail. New York has the best hot dogs. Zweigles in Rochester, though I have to admit I like Hoffman's out of Syracuse better and there's Glazier's out of Potsdam. And further North is Croghan Balogna and Cheese Curd. Mmm...

While I'm not a fan of Ohio State (or the way this entire city idolizes their football team) I must say the OSU band is pretty gosh-darn swell. :thumbsup2 It's probably not the "BDBINL" (Best D**n Band In The Land), as all the bumper stickers say they are, but they're still probably the best in the midwest.

Don't worry......I have nothing against OSU or their staff. It's mostly the city's reaction that I can't stand. (One of my friends in college used to live on OSU campus and on the night of one of the games his car was flipped upside down because it had Michigan license plates.) :scared1:
Also, OSU has the nicest hospital in the city. I had the privilege of finding that out the hard way.
