Hi guys! Today was my housing meeting and we were told that NOTHING is allowed on the walls except for a bulletin board. However, I have seen in MANY vlogs that posters and such were hung up on the bedroom walls using small tacks. Can anyone who hung things confirm to me that I won't get in trouble? My roommate and I went ahead and put up some posters and calendars. We live in Patterson.

What did they say you could hang up the bulletin board with? That's weird that they say you can put up a bulletin board and nothing else.

I myself would ask if you could use taky to stick up a poster or calender or one of those sticky hooks.

Yeah, I remember them telling us the same thing when I did the CP fall 07. We did have some coloring book pages hanging up with scotch tape in the living room and they never said anything about it, but I'm not sure. I never hung anything up and it was really impersonal in my room... I think this time I may just have to bend the rules a bit...at least until inspection time

We passed our inspection with a calendar tacked to the wall. I mean, I'm not sure what they expect you to attach things with, pixie dust?

I asked them during my housing meeting if they seriously expected us to put POSTERS on bulletin boards, and they said yes, so I said whatever and put a ton of stuff up with pushpins. I was home for two inspections and they never said a word about it. I don't think they really care, tbh.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It's not like our walls are bombarded with posters and stuff, we maybe used about 18 tacks. Not bad at all, especially since one of the walls was covered in little holes!

oh no, my DS is there with you (Chatham) and he brought in his suitcase about 5 posters! He didn't mention that rule yet. By the way, where did you get assigned to today? He loves his assignment!

You can't use the tacky, gummy stuff.

The blue gummy stuff apparently leaves blue marks on the walls, but after a year of living with housing, they never cared a wink about me using TONNES of pushpins in my walls, sticky tack, tape, and etc. Im trying to find a picture to point out how much I had all over my walls... but I can't find anything! But rest assured, we had a GIANT canadian flag, calendars, tshirts from Write-on-white club nights tacked to the walls, and I even push-pinned a wicker bike basket on the wall to store some smaller things!

To be honest, when I first moved in there were lots of little holes in the walls from previous owners. The main rooms were a little more respected, but there were still communal living room posters from who-knows-when that we kept up that were held to the wall with sticky-blue-stuff.

Would it be possible to use painter's tape?

Basically, don't be disrespectful to the property, A couple of nailholes or tack holes are fine because your apartment should feel like home, but don't tack together a photo collage on a huge wall. Common sense is best. :thumbsup2

Who makes those decorative wall stickers that I have seen on many vlogs? Do you know where you can buy them?

are you talking about fatheads? I know that they have a variety of different styles and categories and they stick to the wall with no mess.

I'm not sure if stuff like this is what you're talking about or not... but here's a couple links:)

http://www.modernwallgraphics.com/

http://www.roommatespeelandstick.com/

basically, I googled "removable wall stickers" and it comes up with a bunch of links:)

I tried some out on my bedroom wall at home just to make sure they dont peel or anything, and they shoudl be fine:)

Is it reallly that big of deal to have things on your walls, not to be mean or anything..But if they say "No" to things on the walls then they most likely mean NO to things on the walls. As for the fatheads they usuallly leave some sort of residue on the walls. We have them at work and have to paint over the walls after we take one down.

Well since everyone else has it, I figured I can too. I don't want to feel like I'm living in a jail cell for 5 months, I want it to feel a LITTLE home-ish. If they allow people to put up bulletin boards, then posters should be the same thing.

on one wall, I had 15 different pictures/random drawings hung up on my wall, and they never said one word to me. One of my friends had her room plastered with posters, and they got an excellent on their first inspection. It's really not a big deal if you guys put up posters.

I've lived here for 5 months now and so far they've had no problem in our inspections with things stuck up on the wall with drawing pins, however on our latest inspection they told us that we can only have things pinned up on a bulletin board. I really don't get the difference since the bulletin board would also be pinned up with pins :confused3 I'm just leaving my things up on my wall on drawing pins.

My roommate and I would use the existing holes in the wall and stick our pins up all over and also put some postcards up with them too. We made a few new holes of our own when we each hung a poster up. They never said anything during inspections about the things.
