When we bought and then added on2x in VB we couldn't get any correspondence/advertising sent to us(everything had to be signed in FL but they were able to ship the paperwork to Nevada) due to timeshare laws. However,we get swamped with Marriot Resort advertising / prequalified to buy offers constantly from Newport Beach which coincidently is on land that was to be a DVC resort originally.
Did they get our name from DVC files? How are they able to send or call us with this info when Disney could not? Thanks

When your sale is recorded, that is public record. It is not necessarily that DVC has given out your information.

Every Timeshare must be registered with the state where they wish to do business. The timetable to get the approval is determined by the state itself. Some states are easier to register with than others.
Eventually, your state is likely to provide DVC approval for BCV (most likely they already have approval for OKW, BWV and VWL), but until then DVC won't be able to send any information about the resorts they are currently selling.
Apparently, your state has already granted approval to Marriott for it's CA resort. They have not yet to DVC.
Good Luck!

As far as where they get your name, anyone who buys a timeshare from Disney is thereafter likely to receive further timeshare promotions not because Disney gives it out but because your deed is recorded as a public record and organizations compile lists of timeshare owners based on those public records and provide them to others in the timeshare industry.
