I have explained the dining plan to my Dad until I am blue in the face but he insists I am wrong!

Today he called Disney Dining today and was told (by some wacky CM whose name he refuses to give me) that at check in he could get the plan for only some of the nights of his stay or he could get it for some people in the party.:confused3

For example if 4 people are staying 5 nights that they could buy the plan for 4 people for 3 nights. Or if 4 people are in the room that they can buy the plan for 3 people for all five nights.

I say that neither of these is possible. That the plan is added to your reservation before you arrive and it is for the number of nights and the number of people in that room. I think this is true for regular rooms and DVC reservations.

I have heard that sometimes you can add people to the plan after you are already there. Say Aunt Susie decides to join you on day 3/5 and you add the dining plan for her. I am not sure this is really true and if is it do you buy all five nights or only the 3 she would stay?

HELP!

You're correct. Everyone on the same reservation must purchase the same dining plan for the entire length of the reservation.

Sounds like dad likes making up stories. Who is he protecting?

:lmao: I think he really did speak to someone because he complained that he had to wait on hold for 20 minutes.

He is just bound and determined to prove me wrong. It is his way!:confused3

I told him fine you check in and try to do either of those and see how it goes.:lmao:

But I wanted to make sure I was right before I said any more.

How about the second part about adding someone after check in? Does anyone have any experience with that?

I just asked my TA the same question, about adding people for part of the time (they will be joining us while we're there for a couple of days). She said no. It's the full length of our stay (if they're staying WITH us) or not at all.

Yes, the fine print for the DDP says that it must be booked for the whole length of stay for every member of the party.

If someone is arriving mid-stay and you want to add them then it can be done by making 2 separate reservations. But, you'll have to get 2 tickets and you may have to change rooms.

It's also possible to get the DDP for a portion of your party if you are staying in multiple rooms. I.e. those in one room can get it while those in another do not.

I'd say make sure that the reservation is for whichever DDP decision you would prefer and then let your Dad attempt to modify it at check-in. Hopefully he won't embarrass you too much.
