Hi,
We are going to get a couple of hundred euros tomorrow. The kids have their own euros, so we just need money for bits and pieces, tips, treats. The question is: Where should I change my money on the High Street? Does it really make much difference where I go and is there anywhere I should avoid?
I am terrible with conversion rates and commission etc. I just don't get it, so please just tell me where to go (so to speak):rotfl:

The Post Office are usually competitive as well as M & S so it would depend on the commision charges.
We use www.travelex.co.uk and we pick them up at the airport!

When I changed mine last week M&S had a better rate than the Post Office, but our local (huge) Tesco had the best rate of all, not sure how many tesco stores have a currency counter though??
If you do a search on moneysavingexpert you can normally find out the best current exchange rates.
Have a great time!!:goodvibes

M&S is usually best for us & its commision free.
My advice would be go to anyone who is offering at least 1€ for £1 as some are wanting £1 for 0.98 cents

The £ is getting stronger its currently €1.03 at M&S, but they hasnt taken into account todays moves, I think it could be €1.05/6 tomorrow.

I use this website (they are also located at many major train stations) - whenever I have checked in the past, it has been consistently more competitive than M&S and the PO - free next day Special Delivery if you buy £300+. The rate at the moment is £1 : €1.065.

Ok, the kids have already got 30e each to spend. I didn't want to give them too much as we would spend all day in the Disney Store.:rotfl: I went to M&S and they didn't have a currency counter, neither did Tesco; so it was off to our local PO to get my euros. I got £179.98=185e. I hope we have enough money with 185e for 3 nights. I have the hb plus vouchers and a suitcase full of snacks. Any unexpected purchases will go on the credit card. I'll let you know how much we spent when I come back.;)
