I am in the process of planning my first trip to Disney World in March I'm just carious what your favorite counter service meal was.
Also I hear alot about Earl's now do you only get a sandwich with CS? or does it include fries and a drink?
The Wolfgang pizza's are they condisered a snack or CS?
Thank you for your information :)

Wolfgangs was our favourite CS, but the Pizza is considered an entree and not a snack so you only get that on it's own. Some of their meals include fries so you don't have to pay extra for them as a side, but you will need to look at the menus beforehand if you are concerned about what you can/can't have. All meals include a drink on the DDP.
Generally most snack items are available from vendors or smaller places (ie that just serve drinks, pretzels etc) and are normally under $4 as well.
Our other favourite CS was Cosmic Rays in MK.

Tangierine Cafe in Epcot is good value CS under DDP. Nice atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating and MoRockin plays close by.

Without a doubt, Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD - both locations - are the best "bang for the buck" for CS.
My kids and I have gone there on our August and December trips and ordered $70,00 worth of food on 3 CS credits - Chicken and fresh pasta, caesar salad, beverage and creme brulee for dessert. All served to you at your table after your order is placed by excellent servers who got a nice tip!
Definitely some "non-Disney" flavors, freshly made, fabulous value!

AK - Anandapur Local Cafe. 3 CS got us:
1 Honey chicken + chocolate chip cookie (for portability) + Coke
1 Shrimp Lo Mein + choc chip cookie + Coke
1 Sweet Sour Pork + mango pie + Sprite
$49.
That was our best CS value. Had DD ordered the Shrimp instead of the Chicken, it would have been an even better value.

My DD and I shared the rotisserie chicken at Cosmic Ray's for lunch one day (neither of us was hungry enough for a whole meal) and I could have gotten the combination which basically was the same thing, plus some ribs. Way too much food for us, but we enjoyed the chicken (half a chicken) with mashed potatoes, and green beans (which were good!) plus soda and we got apple slices (very good) for the dessert. I think if you get the chicken and ribs it's a lot of food, and we enjoyed our food a lot!
I agree - Wolfgang Puck is good - we only did the cafe (TS) this last trip. It was excellent as always!
For a snack, I was surprised during our trip at some items. I felt I should have saved the credits and not done so many sodas, but it was fine really.
One day, we got some snacks for a light lunch at the Animal Kingdom at the new Yak and Yeti counter service - the fried rice is a nice portion! It's really like the size of a take out container, maybe a bit smaller, but I can't eat that much rice! It was really not bad. Kids got some frozen drinks somewhere nearby for a snack, and DS got fries (not the adventurous eater).
Oh, the suggestion to order another bun for a double burger, well, I tried that. At restaurantasaurus. Told it would cost something like $3.99 to do that . I was trying to have the kids split a meal, as we had just had our "snack" like an hour earlier. I still had them share, they really didn't need to eat much.
I felt like we kept eating this whole trip with the dining plan! It was fun to try!

I have to agree with Wolfgang Puck Express and the Pepper Market. It is amazing how much good food you get for a counter service at both of those locations. In the past at Pepper Market, you were limited to which items you could get for desert but this time they allowed us any desert including the cakes.
We also like roaring forks at the Wilderness Lodge. They will allow you to substitute soup for your desert. You can also get soup and french fries with your snack credits which make some great chili fries.

Tangeriene Cafe is terrific, I love the food there!!!
Flame Tree is a fave in our family.
Columbia Harbor House in MK is good too!! And my kids always liked the pizza combo meal at Pizza Planet.....
I hope I can find good food at the counter service at the BC since we're stating there in March.

at Earl of Sandwich last May (2008) we got a sandwich/chips/drink & a dessert (cookie or cupcake) We really liked the "original" sandwich.
Seems like some people posted that they did not get chips, just sandwich/drink/dessert. So maybe it depends on the clerk?
Favorite counter service at AK if the BBQ ribs or the rotis. chicken platter at Flametree BBQ.
Fave at Epcot is Tangierine Cafe, the shwarma platter...excellent.
Fave at DHS is Starring Rolls - the focaccia bread sandwich, chips, drink & your choice of a lot of lovely bakery desserts.
Fave at MK is Cosmic Rays Ribs/chicken platter...nice to get "real" veggies instead of french fries!

We are really very bland when it comes to food, but on our trip last Sept we found big portions at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. My 2 kids and I shared a half chicken meal and couldn't finish it. We added one extra cookie and they were so big just 2 was enough.

Not that the portions are enormous or anything, but we all think that the quality and freshness of the food at Columbia Harbour House is outstanding. I love the tuna sandwich on a grainy bread, and my SIL adores their NE clam chowder.

As other have noticed, the food at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco pavilion is simply outstanding! I guess those who eat bland food will not like it, but it rates well against other Moroccan places I have eaten at home. I still think about the Schwarma platter...we changed our touring plan just to go back there again.
Yakitori House in Japan pavilion was also good. The quality and taste surprised me. Not fancy, but good.
Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom is great. Large portions of chicken, ribs, beans, rics, etc. The sodas are in the biggest cups I have seen in WDW.
I have not been to the Pepper Market, but we will be staying at CSR this summer, so I am looking forward to it based on what others have posted.:thumbsup2

The Ribeye is no longer on the menu at the Grill Station and the Roasted Pork, Stir Fry Beef and Bourbon Chicken are gone from the the Wok Kitchen.
Our two favorite counter service places were Tangeriene Cafe in Epcot Morroco and Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom. Cosmic Rays in MK also had a good variety of items.
