Hi all. I can't find SandyC's weight loss thread to renew it. So I decided to create a new one; SandraC I hope you don't mind. I Hope this thread will stay around until atleast my March trip to WDW. I want to loose about 20 pounds before I leave to see the mouse. I know its going to be hard, but even a 10 pound drop will make me verrry happpy....I see alot of others want to loose some weight as well and I am one who needs all the help I can get to keep me going and motivated. So please join me or drop me your thoughts.. and ideas to help keep off the weight and stick to the plan of living a healthier life. Together we can get this done.
I try not to look at the big picture all the time only the next five pounds.
good luck..:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:  :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Hey there! Count me in! I have lost 15 lbs since our last trip to DL in September and I still have another 20 lbs to go to reach my first major goal. Once I have reached that then I still would like to loose 30-40 lbs. But the 20 would be nice before summer so that I have the energy to keep up with my boys who are very active!
DH and I are heading to DL Feb 3 so if I can loose 5 lbs by then I will be thrilled.
So what is everyone going to do to help? Diet plans? Excersise programs?
Please share so that maybe other will be inspired as well.
Me I am on medical leave from Curves until at least February but I do have a Wii Fit and an Ab DVD that I am going to start on everyday tomorrow once the boys are back in school. As for eating we are cutting back on the eating out and at home portion size and not eating after dinner unless it's a movie nightpopcorn:: .
Well good luck all my fellow Disser's I know we can do this!

I am also in. I started a week ago at WW, just before new years, and I lost 5 lbs my first week!!! 30 more to go before I can become lifetime. I have had a lot of success w/ WW (and no I do not work for WW :goodvibes )
I lost 40 lbs with them from Oct 07 to June 08. I thought I could go it alone & gained 12 lbs in the last 6 mths. But I didn't venture too far.
Maybe we could do a weekly weigh in, or share exercise tips, recipes, meal plan ideas, and just general support.
I am starting back at the gym tomorrow morning as I've been off for 2 wks and I'm nervous. Every time I work out & do WW I never seem to lose as much. So i'm just going to start back w/ my spinning classes & ease into the weight training slowly.
My eating tip from this past week was that I went to bed early at 8pm right after my DD18mths went to bed. I didn't go to sleep but I did my nightly TV watching in bed so it prevented me from snacking at night. This really is my bad habit, so I think I've found a way to curb it.
Also the Biggest Loser starts on Tuesday so I'm hoping to lose weight and work out along w/ them & track my progress. While I would never expect to lose what they do, I'd be interested to see how well I could do by the end of the 12 weeks.

Thanks for the thread! I am happy to join the group.
My goal is 10-15 lbs by March 15th!
My plan:
1. Attend WW weekly
2. Activate my two month pass to Curves by Wed. this week
3. JOURNAL what I am eating!!
4. Walk 5x/weekly w/walk away the pounds dvds
5. Post here for motivation and a kick in the pants

Great idea to start this thread.
I'm looking to loose about 40lbs total but would be happy with 20 for now to get me started.
I've done WW and it's a great program but, being impatient I'd love to loose the weight a little faster and then worry about keeping it off once it's off. I know that sounds ridiculous, especially since I agree with eating properly and making my eating changes a part of a lifestyle change.
Anyone out there recommend a faster weight loss program? I know programs like Bernstein's and Herbal Magic but wondered if there is something out there i'm missing.
Good luck to everyone!!!

My dw has lost 15 lbs in the last 2 months by simply drinking 8 glasses of water per day and cutting out all (yup that's right...all) pop. She drinks one coffee per day and tries not too eat past 8 pm at night. She doesn't eat chips but will eat rice cakes like they are going out of style. Try 2 rice cakes plus one bottle of water and your good to go for at least 2 hours....guilt free. She'll have 2 rice cakes, a yogurt, a banana and a bottle of water and she is good for 4-5 hours. Water she says has taken away all the cravings, so now things actually taste too sweet, or too salty. You need fluid to push fluid, you sleep better and if you are exercising it is a sure fire way to avoid sore muscles (this is caused by dehydration during exercise). Try it out...if it works for her it may work for some of you as well......:thumbsup2

Hey all, I'm in for 25lbs. I did it b4 just last year, learned from my mistakes by letting it come back on. :sad2: Ready for Round 2!!
I'm cutting back carbs (all I ate, really), increasing fibre, eating some good fat every day (raw almonds). Drinking green tea. Broke down and had pancakes this a.m., but worked it into my day calorie-wise. Hate the gym, until I get there. So bleepin' cold out.
Fruit is now my friend for my sweet after dinner fix.

Dr. Bersteins will get the weight off of you fast but you will pay through the nose for it unless you have an insurance plan that covers it and there are some out there that cover up to 50% of it. You just need to check w/ your insurance provider. I have personally nevre done it but have seen many people lost tons of weight but only to put it back on.
On another note I was watching CITY news the other night and they were reviewing the top 4 diets & the only real program they mentioned was WW. BTW anyone doing WW, how do you like the new Momentum program?
I have also heard recently that drinking a glass of water w/ 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice in it 30 mins prior to a meal is supposed to aid in weight loss.
In fact our leader at WW says that is what they do in the UK and the UK WW is apparently always 6 mths ahead of us.

just want to let everyone know that lemon in water is really bad for your teeth. I have sensitive teeth and when my dentist asked about my drinking habits (i don't drink alcohol...personal choice) ...which at the time was water with lemon and pop, he just about hit the roof and I had to endure a huge lecture :scared1: about the enamel eroding properties of lemon in water (didn't mention about the pop but that's bad too)...."if you have to drink it, use a straw." was his concession to my habits.....I have cut back on both lemon and pop and have noticed that my teeth are not quite so sensitive...just wanted to let everyone know about the possible side effect.:thumbsup2 (but i think i will go and get more straws to give the lemon thing a try!:rotfl: )

Just wanted to share some tips on how I lost weight last year on a low carb diet.
Random thoughts:
Fruit is very high in sugar. It may be healthy for you but it's not diet food. Don't overdo it on the fruit. One apple or grapefuit or 6 strawberries a day. The sugar in fruit will change into carbs.
Cut out all bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, carrots, peas and pop and juice.
Eat protein. Chicken breasts (no skin) and fish unadorned with sauce.
Drink diet pop for a sweet fix.
Make yourself a big salad every day. Lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, celery. Use the spray salad dressings.
You can eat a ton of broccoli and cauliflower. NO butter. Squeeze lime juice over it. Surprisingly good.
No alcholol. Absolutely no cookies, chips or candies. Not even one. No peanut butter, jam.
For an after dinner snack drink low-sodium chicken broth.
Lots and lots of water.
After the first 3 days of dieting you will not crave the carbs anymore. Just get through the first 3 and then it gets much easier.
You will lose 10 pounds in two weeks, for sure. I lost 30 pounds in 2 and a half months.
PS There is not a diet out there that will "keep the weight off" if you go back to eating like you used to. After you go off the diet you must change your eating habits or you will regain the weight. Taking the weight off slowly does not necessarily mean it stays off longer.
Also, you do not have to exercise to lose weight on this diet.

Sign me up too!! I can't do the extreme - no sugar, no carbs, no this or no that but since September both DH and I have been counting points and we are down 20 lbs (him) and 15 lbs (me). We both have 20 lbs to go but since we're both doing it, it's alot easier. We're cruising in November and I want to look good in a new bathing suit!;)
Gotta love the Wii Fit!! I'm a SAHM with 2 young children but they love to watch me work out with the Wii!! Baby steps - everyone will get there!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm working on losing weight before my Disney trip too. 8 weeks to go! Last night I had the whole family working out together. Well, not really our 2 year old. :)
That show, The Last 10lbs is going to be part of my motivation. I'm going to follow a similar eating plan/calories and workout plan. I'll get to do it twice over though, since I have 2 months left.
I went to Old Navy last night and bought a swim suit for motivation. :) I'll try it on every 2 weeks and hope for some major results.
Good luck everyone!!!

I'm ready as well.
I went on the fast diet program that someone mentioned above last year. You are promised to lose 16 to 20lbs a month, if you stay strict. I was on it from May until Sept and only lost 25lbs. It was all my fault. Did the injections help with the weight loss, IMHO, No! It boost your energy level. You have to top up with potassium and calcium. You are restricted to about 800 calories/day. Have I kept the weight off, No. It all came back on. My husbands insurance company paid for it. Only because they covered the first week by mistake, then they covered the rest, due to the union lawyer getting involved. It's considered experimental by most insurance companies.
So, yes I'm ready to lose the weight. I've looked into the Lap band, $17k to $20k. I've also looked into Gastric bypass, covered by OHIP out of province if your Dr. approves. Mine does not.
I'm not sure what plan I'm going to do or how to do it just yet. I do know that if you cut out all whites, sugar, flour, rice, etc you will lose weight. There are certain veges that are good for you as well, that don't have natural sugars.
Good luck everyone! I'm not promising myself anything, other than not to gain more than I am now.

I hadn't heard about the lemon in water thing. I often put lime juice in mine for the taste, but that could explain why sometime my teeth get ultra-sensitive.

I have lost 25 lbs on WW since september, but didn't do so well over the holiday's, I didn't gain anything but have hit a plateau, we were so busy that I stopped excercising over Christmas, and now I'm sick with a gastro bug, I planned on starting back today, but totally have no energy! I have 15lbs to go! We leave for Disney the 24th, I don't expect 15lbs in 3 weeks, but maybe 10 would be nice!:goodvibes

Count me in ladies!! :thumbsup2 Losing weight has got to be one of the toughest things that I have ever done before. :sad2: It's definetly an uphill battle, but I am ready to get back into it. I was really doing well before Christmas but then the holidays hit and I didn't exercise or eat well. :sad1: That said I got a personal trainer and she's amazing- but tough!! So we worked out yesturday and she made me do what I was doing before the break (jogging) I thought that we would at least work our way up to it again, but nope! Let me tell you I am sore, sore, sore today!! I think that I might sign up to Oprah's club thing that starts next week. It looks pretty good and next Mondy night there is a podcast where she will answer questions with Bob Greene. As for WW- I think I have failed it like 13-14 times!! :scared1: I want to drop a dress size before Disney- it will give me another excuse to ny DH for me to buy new clothes!! :laundy: :rolleyes1

Here are some tips for loosing weight:
1. Avoid junk food: Avoid eating fast food and other junk food. It’s fattening and doesn’t help you lose weight. If you absolutely must eat fast food, give yourself one meal a week when you are allowed to eat fast/junk food.
2. Avoid fried food: Don’t eat fried food but rather grill or boil your food. Avoid using extra fat. .
3. Eat Breakfast: Eating breakfast helps getting the metabolism started. You are also less likely to snack if you eat a good breakfast. .
4. Eat fish and chicken: fish and chicken is low on fat and can make an excellent weight loss diet. Avoid fat fishes. A good cheap weight loss fish is Tilapia. .
5. Start drinking water: Soda and juice contains a lot of calories. Drink water and safe a lot calories. .
6. Start taking walks: Walking one or two times a day isn’t to hard but can help you lose weight faster. All other forms of physical activities are also good. .
7. Eat often: eating many well planned low calorie meals a day helps you keep from snacking and make you feel less hungry. .
8. Don’t expect dream results: There are many diets that promises fast results but permanent weight loss takes hard work and dedication. .
9. Eat fewer carbs: Eat less pasta and bread. Reducing your carb intake is often one of the best methods of loosing weight.

Count me in!!!!!! I want to lose about 20 before March break also, but that will be part of the journey for me. I actually belong to the YMCA and was there last night with my kids and saw they are offering Pilates free for those with a membership at the same time as my kids swimming lessons. They also had a free dance class on Mondays (my off day). I also plan to get my butt in for the other classes when available and get my dog for at least a 1/2 hr walk each day (yes even in the 20 degree weather).
Food wise, I have done WW before and haven't decided if I should do points or core....probably core. Has anyone heard about what the Momentum plan is all about? I was curious. Anyway....I have 3 kids also, junk is always around, but that also needs to change as I see my dd (11) is growing up a little chunky, just like her Mom and I'll be darned if i'm going to sit by and let that happen!
Anyone catch Oprah yesterday? The message I got from it (like Oprah) is that I have nothing in my schedule that is just for me...so I'm going to the Y every day....just for me...which is ultimately for everyone in my family!
Looking forward to some more great tips!

Count me in! DS is 10 months old and I've lost his baby weight. But at 195lbs I still need to lose the baby weight from DD (7) and DS (5). Next week I'm starting boot camp five days a week for six weeks. We leave for DW on February 28th....so here's hoping!! I'd be happy with a ten pound weigh loss, ecstatic with 15lb. I just want to be healthy and be a good role model for my kids. So, I guess it starts with getting my carb addiction under control. Sugar anything: I love. Anything bread: pass it my way. It's gotta change. Today seems like a good day to start!:woohoo:

Biggest Loser starts tonight.
Also a new show called RUBY, it's a docu/reality show about a 500lbs woman. The reviews have been good.
I've been motivated today.
Eating well, exercised yesterday.
I'm an unconscious eater, everytime I walk into the kitchen I walk out with a mouth full of something. I'm not hungry, it's just a habit or a want, not a need.
I'm 212lbs. My goal is to lose 50lbs in about 6 months.
Let's do this! Sandra:cool1:  :yay: :cheer2:

Here are some more tips that I learned:
If you don't keep junk food in the house, you can't eat it in weak moments. Your kids don't need junk food anymore than you do. Diabetes is on a huge upswing for children due to the amount of junk food they eat. Buy them different fruits instead (just limited your own fruit intake).
Toss out the chips and crackers and anything else that you can't resist.
Celery is a great snack for the crunch. Cucumbers too. Remember carrots are high in sugar so avoid them.
Here are some great very low carb recipes:
This is a great breakfast sandwich. One half cup of Eggbeaters, microwaved in a bowl. After it's cooked add a fat-free cheese slice and melt it in microwave. Add a tablespoon of Hormel bacon bits. Eat on toasted Hollywood or Weight Watchers bread. No butter. This is surprisingly filling and delicious!
Captain's Grill fish fillets by High Liner. I prefer the lemon pepper fillets. They are very tasty. I steam up some broccoli (squeezed with lime juice) and bake a fillet for a very satisfying dinner.
BTW I learned of these recipes from my friend who was on the Dr. Berstein diet (which is amazing if you have the money). She lost 50 pounds in less than 4 months. She has managed to keep most of it off. Like any diet, if you don't do a maintenance program the weight will come back in no time.
I have lots more recipes if anyone wants them.

Breakfast is something I have to work on because I don't like to get up in the morning. For a while I was drinking a weightloss drink (Slim-quick type thing) on the way to work and then having a snack at break time. But I'm out of those, and so now its back to a peanut butter sandwich in the morning and then some raw veggies/fruit at break time.

Hi again.
hard to do list,
chips....eating after 8 PM especially since I'm a shift worker, I can't seem to be able to throw out the snack food from x-mas and new years, however I did throw out the dark chocolates and after eights but the finger food is still around and very high in fat and cals... and very tempting (sausage rolls, kiche, you know the baked stuff you get in the freezer section of the grocery store at new years ). water,,, will try to take in more water and low or no salt. I did manage to get on the tread mill 3 days out of 4 so there's an improvement.
I will pledge to get on to the treadmill in about 20 minutes, not snack on chips today (finished them last night and so there are none in the house to tempt me).
What else..? HMMM ?
good to do list..
read your comments and ideas.. have done that and must say I feel better knowing there is someone else like me trying like heck to live a healthier life.
my weigh in is going to be every sunday, what is yours and how often do you get on the scale or measure up ?
Slow but steady, I will win this race by finishing it. :) :dance3: :)

I lost 4 pounds this week. Started at 212, now 208. I'd like to get to 199 before California, but that's 11 sleeps away, so I might be S.O.L.
I was over 240 at this time last year....so at least I'm moving in the right direction.
Good luck everyone! S

Hey Girls
Id love to join. Im a Single Mom to 2 amazing kids DS6 and DD2 and I badly want to lose 20 lbs by our trip April 20th.
Im counting points and starting to exercise. Im not really sure how many points I should be eating tho..lol I have to be really careful in college I had a pretty severe eating disorder so Im be careful not to get carried away. Now I have my kids to live for tho so...Everything has changed but its still in the back of my mind to be careful.
I worked at Dr Bernsteins as a nurse.(not a good place for those with eating disorders) but I quit because I had a lot of concerns of client safety. We handed out lasix/water pills a little too easily in my opinion and I had a few clients pass out on the diet. I just wasnt comfortable working there.
Anyways if anyone knows how they determine how many points one can have id greatly appreciate knowing. Between hockey and trip saving WW is not in my budget.
Thanks:love:

I'm sure Dr. B is great for some folks, but I have two friends who did Dr. B and it really messed them up.
Both lost tons of weight and both gained the weight back and then some.
One friend lost over 150 lbs and gained 200 lbs back. I worry about her.

I think that anyone who goes on any diet, loses weight and then proceeds to gain back even more weight probably has a food addiction and can't blame the diet itself. It can happen after any diet. I know people who are over 200 pounds and have been on many, many different diets. Lose 10, gain 15, lose 15, gain 20, etc., etc. It's usually just a bad relationship with food that keeps getting worse.
Every time I hear someone say that a certain diet doesn't work because when you go off it you gain back the weight I think, DUH! People not only go back to their old habits but also think "screw it nothing works so I'm just going to continue to eat". Food addiction is probably bigger than drug and alcohol addiction.
When I gain weight I know why. It's the lack of dieting and my love of food.

If you have about $30 to spare, you can order a ww calculator from ebay. we got my mom one for christmas and it does the calculations for you. Also, you can get a PDA program that will do the same. (this is what I use...not sure how much it costs because I inherited my mother in laws old PDA with the program already on it.)...if you like you can PM me and I can calculate it for you to get you started.:thumbsup2

You can pick up the WW calculator at any meeting, you don't have to be a member, just say you are purchasing it as a gift for another member.
I am on the new momentum program and I am loving it.
There is no longer core or points just one program now. It combines points w/ core making the best out of the 2 programs but also giving more structure and portion control to the core program.
When I first joined WW a year ago, the leader in my first meeting talked about food addiction and how it def was the same as drug addicts and alcoholics. It really hit home and I thin that is why I have had more success there than anywhere.
I've got my weigh-in on Sat., 5 lbs my first week, lets see week #2 has to offer.
Did anyone catch Biggest Loser last night? I have never seen such large contestants, these are def the biggest they have ever had. It really brought tears to my eyes.
But I must add that I really hated how they sent half the people home. Oh well, I guess.
Good night.

I know that they are ridiculously high as are most crackers. I think you only get like 3 for 1 point. If you send me the calories per serving, fat grams per serving, and fibre content per serving, I'll calculate it for you. Gratefully we do not have any of those in the house.

Alright - I'm jumping back in here with both feet!!
I'm going to be 39 on May 31st :scared1: and really want to get this weight off and keep it off before I hit the big 4-0 :scared1:
Also my mother is overweight and has some major health issues because of it - I don't want to end up in a wheelchair like she has when I hit my retirement - she retired (finally) in August last year and the same month lost mobility and had major spinal surgery and despite 4 months in the rehab and lots and lots of therapy she still isn't walking or even close to walking :sad2:
My goal - to slowly start changing my eating habits, portion sizes, drink more water and get more exercise and keep it that way. I won't be changing everything overnight but will start out slow with increasing my water intake and being more aware of what I'm eating (and keep track of it on my ipod note pad!!)
I'd like to be 'fit' and down at least 15-20lbs by the start of golfing season so I can keep up with my guys and get lots of use out of my new clubs (with the Mickey cover :) - and be down at least 30lbs by August when we go to DL!!

GREAT JOB JOANN - I quit smoking August 15th and know first hand how tough it is. Remember you would have to be 75 lbs overweight to equate to the damage you do to your body by smoking!!!
That said - I gained 10 lbs after I quit - (but I feel SO much healthier than when I was smoking...I have great circulation and am sleeping better)
I would like to lose the 10 lbs and increase my energy further before I hit 40! but Im shooting for March. Trying to Keep it Simple -
Eating better - by cutting out processed foods. Walking daily.
That should do it!

I'm not going to say how much I want to loose (I have too many IRL friends who lurk on here and I don't want them reading it!!!!) but lets just say it's lots!
My first goal is to loose 10% of my current body weight by spring and then we will go from there. What am I going to do differently in order to accomplish that? Well lets start with the water and healthier eating. I'm going to try and get back to the gym...that seems like enough for now.

Vent away. Sometimes it much easier to vent and get it out, than stew on it, and end up in argument that you don't want.
The weekend has been going well for me. Still have one more cup of water to drink today, and did have A&W today, but that's in my plan. I enjoy it, so once a week is acceptable for me, as long as I also do exercising and drink 8cups of water.

Well I had my week 2 weigh-in yesterday at WW. I lost 0.6 lbs but I know I had such a big loss last wk that I can't expect the same every week. So my total is 5.6 lbs in 2 wks!
Daisy are you going to the Civic for their walking track? I wish my gym had a track. I can't wait until the nicer weather and then I plan on utilizing the outdoor track at the Civic, along w/ the stadium stairs.
Also for those of you who visit McDonalds there are many things to have that allow you to stay within moderation.
For instance a small hamburger (no cheese) is only 5 pts, a small fry is also only 5 pts. So whenever I used to get my craving for junk food I would get a hamburger happy meal w/ small fries, sm. diet coke, and I would add an order of apple slices w/o the caramel sauce. For 11 pts I had my fix & I felt really satisfied.
Also the McDonalds sundae w/o the topping is only 3 pts.
If anyone else wants any tips on what to order at fast food places, just ask.

Hey all. Down 3.5 pounds today from when I started on the 01st :woohoo: I was hoping for more but who cares, I'm going in the right direction; going to Mcdonalds to celebrate.. just kidding :)
I too have fallen off the wagon a few times since I started but the experts say that's normal...So isn't it good to know we are all normal people here. I just want to be normal a little less frequently though.
I don't have a walking track in my area so I try to go to our local mall 25 min drive away to satisfy my walking urge. I get too bored on the treadmill at home and try to change it up a little by going to the mall once or twice a week.

Was planning on losing weight anyway this year, just not as much as she want's me too. Haven't been that thin in over 12 years, so am curious as to what I'll look like once I lose the weight. Time for a major clothing shopping spree when I do. I was good yesterday, I took the kids to McD's, and rather than having a large meal, ordered a 4 pc kids nugget meal with apple slices instead of fries. Was surprised that it filled me up, with out making me feel heavy. I can change...I think. Have a great day!!:grouphug: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

The number of pts you get depends on how much you weigh now/what your ideal weight is. You start with more points (which seems like a lot) and as you loose the points decrease to help you slowly get your portion sizes and snacking ect under control....(that is how it was explained to me by my MIL.)
I haven't weighed in ...have to get a new scale...but I am hoping to be down by at least 5lbs by the time I go to my Mother's next week!:)

Here is for anyone wanting to know how to calculate how many WW points from the WW book
add up your answers and thats how many points per day
female?......score 2
Male?...... score 8
nursing mom?.... score 12
How old are you
17-26.......score 4
27-37........score 3
38-47.......score 2
over 58...... score0
what do u weigh?
From this take the first 2 digits of your weight in pounds ie:175 it would be score 17
How tall are you?
under 5'1.......0
5'1-5'10.........1
over 5'10......2
spend most of your day....
sitting down IE reception, bus driver ect........score 0
occasionally sitting, mostly standing sales person, housewife cook teacher.....score 2
walking most the time waiter, mailman ect.......score 4
doing physically hard work most of the time ie: nurse gardener, construction.....score 6
take all your scored answer add them up and thats your daily point allowance
plus you get 35 extra ontop of those that u can use each week ( save them up, split it up over the 7 days use them for special times out )

ON a sadder note, I need to find a new WW meeting as I have started a job that has me working through the time I was going.:sad2: Sat. mornings were so good for me because my DH could stay w/ my DD18mths while I had some mommy time w/o chasing her.

My doctor told me to eat small portions throughout the day, versus 3 large meals a day. So long as what I'm eating is healthy, and I'm eating small portions of it, it works. I was involved in a major car crash 12 years ago ( I rear ended a fellow on the local hwy at 95kmh, after hitting a patch of oil on the road):scared1: . So when my back goes out on me, it's not just the spine that get's sore, it's the entire back. She thinks that my back can no longer support the weight I'm currently at, and the way it's been the past couple of weeks, I tend to agree with her. What really is the pits, is that I leave for the mouse (DL) in 20 days for a 15 to 16 day visit down there. We are driving down there, and hubby want's to hit all the greasy spoons he can find while we're down there:eek:  . My doc and I have agreed that so long as I don't gain alot of weight while I'm travelling, and watch what I eat, I'll be fine. I'm really going to see if I can lose further weight while I'm travelling. I just have to remind myself that my back's going to pay for that double hamburger I'm contemplating (just kidding!) . Have a great day everyone!!

broke down and picked up a scale today. its a body fat and hydration calculator as well.....:scared1: ... it would appear that I have lost 4lbs in the past 6 days...not too bad....DH and I have agreed to lose 20lbs by my birthday (April 28)....when I hit the 20lb mark he's taking me to Red Lobster!:cool1: ....love red lobster! if I lose 40lbs...I get some new clothes. (he offered great wolf lodge but I said I would rather save the $$ for Disney, but now that I think about it I think that maybe back stage passes for Brad Paisley or Tim Mcgraw would be good as both are coming to Sarnia this Summer!)
I managed to choke down my 8 cups of water today but its rather hard for me in the winter...anyone have any ideas of how to make it easier?

Wow!!! It measures hydration!!! Love that!!! (would not love the fat measuring as much :rotfl2: for me). I love the Nestle Pure Life Sparkling Lime, Lemon or even 'plain' Sparkling water from A&P or no frills- we also use Brita and I add a bit of lemon juice, but I try to be careful of not having too much lemon (dentally).
Walking wise, I did the one mile walk both yesterday and today so am up to 5 miles total. I figure when I've hit 40 miles that's once around the entire WDW property. :rotfl: Food wise am not doing too badly. Treat wise the Reid's Dairy fudgesicles are amazing and only 64 calories, DH has me hooked, it's funny to be buying them when it's so freaking cold but we do:lmao:
Received these tips in email from WW, love the english muffin idea:
* My original promise was that I only had to work out 20 minutes a day because I knew that every day I had 20 minutes that I was wasting in front of the TV, time that could be traded for walking or using my elliptical trainer
* I often use Weight Watchers English Muffins as a dessert with tea at night. I spread sugar-free applesauce on them and it replaces cake or pie—for a POINTS value of just 1!
* Be mentally ready. I'm convinced that you have to want to do it for yourself, mostly by yourself and have a clear reason why. If you have not psyched yourself up for a weight-loss marathon, you might initially—and briefly—sprint, but not cross the finish line.
* Reinforce your resolve by using the online Weight Tracker and checking the weight-loss graphs online to see that you are heading in the right direction.

Ok - I managed to get some exercise tonight...... I helped ds' go to the pony field, caught a pony, helped groom her, helped tack her up then walked around the outside of the riding ring area to keep my toes from freezing off while I watched him ride... rubbed my nose a bit when it got numb too. THEN I got to help un-tack the pony, groom her again, put her blanket on and helped him take her back to the pony field - with a nice carrot of course..... for the pony not me though!! :lmao:
That MUST count as exercise!!! What WAS I thinking letting him take riding lessons and agreeing to have them all winter... he'd better remember this when he gets older!! :lmao:

That is total exercise. I love when we are able to find exercise in our daily lives. It makes it feel not so much like exercise.
Speaking of exercise, I need to get my butt off of here and to my 9 am spinning class.

Hey Guys
Just checking in sounds like everyone is doing well.
I
m ok I was down 3lbs in one week so I was happy, then I started getting sick Sat not sure if its stress, exhaustion, the flu or just plain my body not liking me dieting. I also tried a supplement so im not ruling that out either. :) Im disappointed I was doing it healthily and a setback sucks..

Gillian from Biggest Loser, has a great analogy about setbacks and slipping off your plan. "if your car gets a flat tire, you don't flatten the other 3, you fix it and keep going".
I'm using that concept to keep me from quitting when I have a slip up.

Well, as much as I love chocolate and anything crunchy (LOVE pringles), I have no choice but to lose 20lbs...Dr's orders. It's not that I'm terribly overweight, but I got surgery a couple of years ago, and the way that the surgical incision set wasn't right, so the surgeon sent me to a plastic surgeon to get it repaired. It's paid for if I lose 20lbs....and it's noticeable through clothing, I'm getting married in June, and I want it gone before then. So, I have 12 weeks to lose it....wish me luck!
I am pretty much concentrating on training for my half marathon (I was supposed to do the full marathon in Disney this past weekend, but unfortunately, I got an injury in September that put me out for 3 months, and then stress, and life happened....so I couldn't complete the marathon). To do the weight training, I am doing the Wii Fit and it works, truly! I have so much fun doing it, and it has made my muscles sore on more than one occasion....
Good luck everyone....let's keep up the good work!:thumbsup2

I've had an adjustment phase as well. Yesterday I was craving protein, and was eating small amounts of it all day. Finally figured out that it was the B12 I was craving, more so than the protein. Prior to going on "the diet" I was having a nut butter and honey sandwich for lunch everyday. Figured out that my system missed the extra boost of B12. I'm going to take some supplements for the next couple of weeks until my body adjusts to it. Since I took the B12 supplement today, the protein cravings stopped. Have a great evening!

I have some good news for you. You can have mashed potatoes. For instance the ones from Swiss Chalet are only 3 points for the serving which isn't very much & you can add some chalet sauce for an extra pt. Did you know that the baked potato at SC has 4 pts w/o any of the butter or sour cream!! Or you could buy those Lipton instant ones that come with the gravy on the side. I believe a serving of them is only 2 pts, so approx 100 cal, and the gravy is only 1 pt. I know it's instant but the cals are low & let you hit that craving.
Or you can make them yourself w/ skim milk.
The key to losing isn't to deny yourself but indulge and find ways to satisfy your cravings to prevent future binges.
Enjoy!

Am intending on walking the kids to school when we return from our trip to the mouse the middle of Feb. Leaving on either Jan 31st or Feb 1st, and will be gone for 2 weeks, so if you don't hear from me you know where I'm at.

After dance we actually stopped at McDonalds (my DH's go to cousine) so I took Candielips advice and just got a hamburger Happy Meal with DCoke. and it actually hit the spot. :thumbsup2
I think the craving was mostly scent induced....there is a KFC about 1 block away and the wind was blowing in the wrong direction:rotfl:

This is advice I do try to live by. When I was Pregnant with Emily, I was working as a 411 operator...people would call in requesting numbers and addresses for pizza/chinese ect...believe it or not there always seemed to be a trend across the country for one thing and I would get it in my head and couldn't shake it for the life of me. I came home one night around 9pm...DS in bed...DH watching tv...and couldn't settle until DH decided to just go out and pick me up some fried mushroom rice and a slice of pizza...ate it all myself:rolleyes2 ...after that, he just gave into my cravings when they hit. and I just had my own share:rotfl2:
Now I am off to try Tae Bo....we will see how that goes:rotfl2: might not be able to move tomorrow. (i am not the most coordinated person). Hope everyone is staying on track.:goodvibes and have a good weekend.

Good Afternoon,
I have only had time to read the first 2 pages of this thread, due to having to leave for work soon. However, I will get to reading the others when I have some spare time in the next day or so. I wanted to introduce myself and join your group, if I could, as I too am struggling with my weight and have a goal to get healthier and lighter before our Sept. trip
A little background info... I originally lost 50lbs 18 months ago with my goal to join the military. I was heading off to basic training with young 18/20- somethings, and I was going into it at 38yo. I made my goal and joined, but about 5 weeks into my training I was having foot problems due to a stair injury at basic trg. (developed extreme achilles tendonitis), and was told that the injury would be at least 6 weeks to heal and then I'd probably be looking at sitting on PAT platoon (people awaiting training) until I could get put back on another active course platoon that was starting up again.
To make a long story short, I decided to release from the military instead of wait around wasting all that time, because for 1) My husband was in Afghanistan the same time I was in Quebec doing my basic training
2) My kids missed their parents, and it was a lot to ask of the grandparents (65/68 yo) to have to handle 2 active boys (15 and 11)... I did not think it was fair to ask them to put their lives on hold for another 6 months (they had already been at my house with the boys for 1 1/2 months by then).
So, I gave up my dream and came home. But thanks to my wonderful hubby :lovestruc He sent me back to college this fall so I could continue my dream in civi life and get my Office Administration diploma and still do what I wanted to do in the military ( Work in an office administrative job). It is busy (fast tracked program finished in 10 months vs. 2 years)... but so worth it!
Since coming home from the military and being inactive from my gruelling fitness regime ( I had dropped from 218 lbs to 168).... I have put most of my weight back on again :sad2: and now am starting around 200 again. I want to get to about 155-160 to feel good about myself again.
I am hoping that with support and focus I can reach my goal by end August.
I look forward to sharing with all of you :)

Welcome! It sounds like you've got everything where you want, now we just need to help w/ the weight gain. Isn't if awful when you lose so much & put most of it back on.
I had lost 60 lbs myself after having my DD & left WW in the summer thinking I could do it on my own, only to gain 12 lbs in 6 mths. I am so lucky it wasn't more.
I would check in w/ my weight this week ladies, but I had to miss my WW meeting as I had to work. I guess I'll have to hand over one of my missed meeting coupons next week.:sad2: Oh well.

Hey I,m down 7 pounds since Jan 01st. :goodvibes :goodvibes
Just got a membership to Goodlife Fitness and get the tour of the machines today. They dropped their membership fee but only until the end of January, so its like getting 2 months free. I was going to wait until I lost the 20 pounds before looking into a fitness membership, but If I'm seriuous about changing my life I'm going to start early and take advantage of the 2 free months plus our family get the discounted rate through work and saves about 30 percent.. I tried the home gym stuff to but after a while it just collects dust, also a membership to a gym gets you away from your house and maybe even talking to other people who want to achieve the same goals. I really want to make a difference in my health and I know this will help if I can only keep going. I've been through this before many years ago and found after after a while I stopped going. probably because I was enjoying summer and the out doors to much. Anyway wish me luck. :)
See you next sunday at my next weigh in.

Congrats everyone who is down, WTG! We had a family birthday party over the weekend so btwn the party food and not working out (lot of travelling a few hours each way) well all I can say is I will be walking today and tomorrow before my WI.
My walking goal for this week is 10 miles. Meeting a gf to walk w/ tom & Wed so that will help prod me along.
Other than that, healthwise, my goal is to drink more water & remember to take my multivitamin and have veggies when I feel the urge to snack.
Maybe today will be the day I start to count my WW points as well. Will post back after WI.
Good luck everyone!

Hi Everyone!
It sounds like everyone is doing really well with their weight lose goals and I was hoping I could join in!
After having my second child, there's alot around the middle that needs to come off! I keep using the excuse of pregnancy, but since my daughter is now 22 months, I can't use that excue anymore, time to get working!!!
I heard someone saying they are doing WW online, how is it? Hard to follow on your own? Expensive? I have been thinking about this but not sure if I would be able to follow. For now I have just joined a gym and have a personal trainer for a couple of weeks to get me started.
My only wish is that I started earlier so that I could have lost more before my trip to the world - we leave next Tuesday for a week, can't wait!:cheer2:

Lost another 2 lbs which was amazing to me, considering last week was 2 mcdonalds meals (but I got the hamberger happymeal both times) and The Keg on the weekend (but I didn't have dessert)...but I stayed very close to my WW points range and I was shoveling alot of snow:crazy2:
Now I have this horrible sinus cold that is making its rounds and don't feel like doing anything...very groggy. so I may suffer a bit this week...on the bright side though, I have managed to drink lots of water yesterday and today (Hot, Hot, lemon water.....there goes my teeth:confused3 )

Feel better soon wannago2Disney! I had WW WI yesterday and I was down 2lbs also!:cheer2: Yay!!
I told my leader that I am going to start to count my points now. :rotfl:
We have a Sobeys next door to WW so that is a great way to go there right after the meeting and buy all healthy food. Came home and made veggie soup last night. The meetings do focus and motivate me. I've also done WW online, that's helpful too. I enjoy the meetings more as it's ::yes:: face to face, more personal, so I guess it's whatever works for each person, we're all different. :flower3:
Walking wise, did 3 miles Monday and yesterday, meeting a gf to walk probably two miles this afternoon and also I start Curves right after work.
Doing that Curves assessment really hurt my pride and made me want to lose 20 inches AND 20 lbs! Good kick in the pants. I don't like that my body fat was 30%, ew. Aiming to reduce that to 22-24 for a healthier range for me.

I know you are frustrated, but hang in there! I am a permanent night worker, and it took me about a month and 1/2 before I finally got things figured out! Nights takes a toll on your body, and if you weigh in after night shift it's like weighing in before bed, so if I worked nights before my weigh in day, I would sleep then weigh in when I get up! Another thing I do is I do not eat 3 hours before I go to sleep, whether that be in the morning or at night! I wanted to loose another 10lbs before our trip, and got on the scale this AM (we leave tommrrow!) and I have lost a total of 9lbs since New Years!:cool1: So my grand total since October is 29lbs yeah! I have 11lbs to go for my goal!:cheer2: Before I lost the last 9lbs I hit a plateau that lasted 4 weeks!:upsidedow Talk about frustrating! Just to let everyone know how my weight loss is going...well it isn't at the moment. Lost 6 lbs the first week, then gained 2 the next week. I feel as if I lost weight, but our scale died this morning, so I have no idea how much I weigh at the moment. Went to my regular doc about my DS4's neck which he decided to give a crunch a couple of days ago, and even though it's a strain, he decided to check out my back anyway, and agreed with doc #1 to lose the weight:upsidedow . I told him yeah right, as if I'm going to lose any amount of weight just before a trip (I can heckle him, and he gives it back). So we have an agreement that I'll lose the weight after the trip. I've got 8 days till a DL trip, so after the trip will get serious about the weightloss, and will be careful when I'm on the road what I eat. Hope that everyone is having better luck with the weightloss than I am at the moment. Have a great evening!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

I lost 22 lbs last year (and managed to keep it off), but I'm trying to get rid of the last 5 (maybe 10?). And you're right, the last pounds are the worst!
I never did WW or any other program, but got excellent advice - from my skinny girlfriends. And their advice now that I'm down to the last 5? Double up my cardio workouts :faint:
Honestly, getting out to the gym every morning is bad enough, but the idea of going out TWICE IN ONE DAY is just .... crazy talk!

I dont know what happened...what a let down... I worked nights and may have bought a small bag of chips in the cafiteria. But I didn't think it would mean putting on 2 pounds......?
Might just be water retention. chips are loaded with salt - salt retains water...You will have the same affect if you have soup high in sodium.
Dont sweat it...Keep moving forward! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm late to this thread, but I'd love to join too. I need help too!
Honestly, getting out to the gym every morning is bad enough, but the idea of going out TWICE IN ONE DAY is just .... crazy talk!
Hee Hee I hear you ! I have two young kids and Im lucky if I can find time 3 times a week to work out..and that is like - taking a walk...and I used to RUN 1/2 marathons. So I hear ya...I would love to be that in shape again, but I am also loving this time in my life when Im a mom with kids who love and need me...I know the pounds will drop off with work.. Great work everyone!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I cannot believe this week for everybody! I had my weigh in this morn & I too gained, 0.4 but still I gained! That's a total loss of 5.2 in 3 wks.
Okay ladies, we really need to figure out what happened this past week.
Dont sweat it...weight is never perfectly a downward trajectory...
If you are doing all the right things 90% of the time ...you will get rid of the excess weight....sometimes you hit a bump, but it may have nothing to do with how 'perfect' you ate...could be salt, could be hormones...just kinda say HMMMM...INteresting...you know your doing what needs to be done...just keep doing it...:)

Can I join too?
I did WW three years ago and managed to loose about 15 lbs. :cool1: I had to quit going because I had no $$$. Now, I have joined WW online, but have not checked it out yet.
Also, my DS 13 bought the P90X on the weekend because he was channel surfing and saw the add. We went to a seen it on TV store and bought it for $80. I want to start doing this also, but because I am so heavy (waaaay over 200  ), I will have to go slower. We viewed it last night just to see what it was all about, and it actually has different levels at the same time.:thumbsup2
I need a lot of discipline to stay on track. I really do not make bad food choices, I just need to get off my a** and start exercising to remove the fat from my body.
I quit smoking at New Years, and I really have had no horrible withdrawl symptoms. :cheer2: I guess it is because I mentally prepared myself waaay before.
I also broke my foot about a year ago. I had a horrible recovery, and my right foot still looks weird.
So, after saying all that, I hope this thread will give me the motivation to keep at it!!!:grouphug:
Congrats to those who have had weight loss already!!:goodvibes

My trip to WDW isn't until August, so I've got time to make a serious difference in my weight before the trip.
I've also got a lot of weight to lose though ... Started weightwatchers two weeks ago and lost 5.5 pounds at my first weigh-in. Second one coming up tomorrow ...

I was down 1 lb today at WW, for a total of 4.8 - oh so close to 5 lbs, and now that I'm walking (goal is ten miles/week) I hope to accelerate the weight loss.

WOW, fabulous weight loss everyone! :wave2:
Actually, years ago when I first joined WW, I lost 7.4 lbs in the first week, the second week I lost 4 lbs. after that it was about 1-2 lbs a week until I had stopped going. Now I have gained it all back and then some :sad2:
I still have all my papers and awards for loosing 10 lbs., 20 lbs., and my charts...glad I kept them!!!
Thanks to all about me quitting smoking. It really was not that hard!! I don't even think about it, even when I am stressed out. I actually am more relaxed because I am not thinking about the next time I want a smoke and where can I go to have it? Like I said, I think it is a mind set above everything else.:cool1:
We have been doing the P90X for the past two nights right after homework is done and lunches are made, dishes are done etc. If anyone seen me do this, it would be on youtube!! By the time I get my lard a** on the floor, they have done two different exercises! LMAO.
:rotfl2:
But the point is, that I am going to stick with it until I am at my goal.
Got out the old WW points chart last night too. I am glad I kept all my stuff so I can track the points!!! Still have not checked out the website..gotta do that soon!!!
Drink lots of water, you pee all night, but I remember I lost a lot of weight doing that. And the lemon and teeth thing??? Yup, that is right, bad for teeth unless you use a straw.

I need to lose 40 pounds by October. I'm getting married October 2nd, 2009 followed by our disneymoon. Crazy as I am, I decided to order my dress 2 sizes smaller than I currently wear, so I have to go from a size 18 to a size 14. Been doing Curves 6 times a week and walking for 30 minutes 6 times a week for a month now and all I've lost is 4 pounds. I thought it would be going faster than this.
Guess I have to start drinking 8 cups of water.
Hopefully this thread will give me the inspiration I need.

well I am up to 5lbs. that is so far for the month of January.
While it is not huge, or earth shattering...it is a good start.
Man...If I could lose 5 lbs a month from here to my trip.....that would be a total of 50lbs...and that would be wonderful. that would be me more comfortable in the plane, more comfortable having my picture taken, more comfortable walking around all day, and maybe...just maybe, someone of the opposite sex may even at some point notice me!!!!
so 5lbs altho small, is a good starting point...now to keep it!

I think my success this week was drinking 8 glasses of water a day, keeping my visits to the gym. walking and working on cardio and most of all not putting junk food in my mouth...: Also I think smaller portions helped with the cravings. Here's to a great week for everyone! I made veggie soup and baked sweet potatoes yesterday to try & stave off the Super Bowl snacks.
Does anyone make the veggie soup? I do, but don't follow the WW recipe exactly, I use what veggies are on hand and make it spicy w/ cayenne pepper and Frank's Hot Sauce. :) It's easy to throw in the crock pot too, I try to make a big enough batch on Sunday to last all week.
WW Zero Points Soup:
2 medium garlic clove(s), minced
1 medium onion(s), diced
2 medium carrot(s), diced
1 medium sweet red pepper(s), diced
1 medium stalk(s) celery, diced
2 small zucchini, diced
2 cup(s) green cabbage, shredded
2 cup(s) Swiss chard, chopped
2 cup(s) cauliflower, small florets
2 cup(s) broccoli, small florets
2 tsp thyme, fresh, chopped
6 cup(s) vegetable broth
2 tbsp parsley, or chives, fresh, chopped
1/2 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice, optional
Instructions
Put garlic, vegetables, thyme and broth into a large soup pot. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to low and simmer 10 minutes.

Can I jump on the wagon...... I fell off of the last Weight loss thread back in 2008:sad2: So on Monday I started a Liver Cleansing Diet. Detox the body and loose weight. Well I'm on day three and my head feels like it's going to explode. This is going to be hard to stick to if my head continues to feel this way. I am used to getting headaches but this one just won't go away.... even with my migraine medication.

Weight on Tuesday was 172:cool1:

What kind of liver cleansing diet? Is your headache from the diet or something else? side effect? I sure would look into something that gave me a headache for that long. Is the weight loss because of this diet? Sorry for all the questions, just curious!! :confused3

The diet is..... no dairy, red meat, or white of any kind, and most important no refined sugar, and only organic veggies and organic or free range chicken. I start the day off with two glasses of water with the juice on one lemon. Then 15 minutes later I drink a glass of fresh juice made from carrots, celery, apple, and parsley.
Today for breakfast I had 3 whole wheat pancakes with blueberries. No syrup or butter. You must use cold pressed olive oil to cook. For lunch I am going to have whole wheat pasta with a can of tuna and organic vinaigrette on top.
Dinner will be a piece of chicken baked in the oven with a whole lot of salad and fresh veggies on the side.
I do get headaches all the time. This one I am sure is caused by the fact that my body is detoxing itself. I am a big sugar eater. So far I have managed to curve my sugar habit with grapes. Very sweet and crunchy right now.
I forgot one more important ingredient .... Flax seed, Almonds and sunflower seeds all chopped up and sprinkled on things you eat like the salad or on the pancakes.
I do believe that the weight loss is because of the diet.:thumbsup2
My head is ok right now. Just got back from a great walk.

I notice your trip to Vistana Resort is only 6 days away now!!! :cool1:
Forgive yourself for whenever you were "bad bad bad" and get back on track. :) You'll be getting a lot of exercise walking around in Florida so that's gotta help! You can do it ~ make good choices while you're away, but don't deprive yourself of all treats while you're away. If you have ADR's booked, maybe you can look at the menus and mentally "plan" your meal choices, so you can have something in your mind as to what you'll have. I find if I know I'm going to go out for dinner (like tonight) I was satisfied with soup and some popcorn at lunch today. I've saved my points to enjoy being out tonight.
Have a great time ... let us know how it was when you get back.

Officially down 7lbs since Jan 1st. :yay: I can't believe it! It seemed to take sooo long to get to this point, I tried back in the summer, then the fall, and just wasn't ready.
I guess slow and steady wins the race! And that's including a huge week-long meltdown of fast food and a box of chemical-laden pastries that didn't expire until 2019.
The trick is to get back on, and not to exclude anything. The little choices everyday is what counts. I might get back to the "Disney wedding" weight by June!

Hi guys, I would love to join your group, this is just what I need:goodvibes I have just moved from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia exactly a month ago, and I have gained 8 pounds since moving, I'm obviously an emotional eater, it was DH's transfer. We are liking it here, but I do miss home as well, the good news is we're going back home for 2 wks, leaving on Sunday, but the bad news is we'll be in a hotel for the 2 wks, so we'll be doing restaurants for most of that time.
Disney Mama I've always wanted to try a cleansing diet, I hear that you feel so much better after detoxing. Perhaps I will try it when I get back in 2 weeks.
At least I do have until Sept to get the weight off for our Disney trip. We're celebrating my husbands 40th birthday and 15 year anniversary this year, this will be our 8th trip to Disney.
I like all the support you give each other:lovestruc

jules94.... Moving is hard but give it time. I moved from Ontario to Fredericton 3 years ago and am soooooo happy.
I am in week 3 of my cleanse and it's going great. First week I lost 6 lbs and then at some point put back 2 and then lost 1. So a total lost of 5 lbs and I feel great.
The book I am following is by Dr. Sandra Cabot and called The Liver Cleansing Diet. Tons of recipes if you need. I have used some but mostly just follow the rules. Now i have had a couple of cheats but that just means that I need to tack on a day for each day I have cheated. The first 4 days of the diet I had a steady headache. Thought I was going to have to give up. But on the evening of the 4th day I was in bed and wondering what was different..... Surprise No headache. and have not had one since and I am a migraine sufferer.
I think the best rule for any one on a diet is to remember that it's OK to have a cheat day once and a while. Just don't let yourself go overboard. Plus drink lots of water and get your :scared1: off the couch.
Good luck everyone.

I also havn't been on the WL board for a few weeks as I've been away at the mouse. Came back last Sat, and am still trying to get caught up on things. I gained 12 lbs on the trip:scared1: . I've had a feeling that our scale was not working properly just before leaving for vacation. And had this confirmed when I bought a new scale this week. My old scale was showing 7 to 10 lbs lighter than it should have. I haven't gotten discouraged by this, and have lost 1 lb this week since I've gotten back into the good eating habits I started before the trip. I've also gone meatless, which I'm sure will also help with the weightloss (although that's not the reason that I went vegetarian). Hope everyone has good luck with their weightloss. Have a great day!:grouphug:

How was the World??
When I went meatless, it forced me to find healthier ways to get protein. Never knew until recently that cottage cheese has 15g/protein per 1/2 cup, that's a LOT of protein for 90 calories.
Great to hear from everyone, we can do this together!:cheer2:

We drove down to DL and spent 15 days stateside. It took us 3 1/2 days driving there, and stayed at HOJO's which definitely lived up to it's good reviews. Had a great time, despite it rained for most of our time in Anaheim. We took the long way home, and drove up the California coast. We stopped in Monterey CA to see the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and it was well worth the detour, and the time to see it. Loved views on the coastal route, but hated the hairpin turns with out guardrails for safety. Even our GPS system got lost a couple of times when we were navigating our way through the redwood forests. I've been planning on going veggie for quite some time, as I just feel alot better, and tend to take alot better care of myself when I'm off the meat. I also eat alot heathier when I'm off the meat too. I'm what would be considered a Ovo-vegetarian. Which basically means that I only eat veggies and eggs. No dairy for me. Cutting off the dairy is not a big deal for me, as I didn't eat that much of it before, and factor in hubby and my younger son are severelly allergic to dairy, there is not that much dairy in the house anyway. The only person that eats it is my older son. Have a great day!

Welcome aboard, Belledozer!
This is a journey we're all in together ... I had a discouraging weigh-in this week (up 1 pound) but it had been a bad week with meals at inconsistent times. I was usually under my daily points limit, which apparently is a bad thing! :confused3
Back on track now - and going to keep on moving forward!
Have a great week, everyone!

I know how you feel in regards to the weightloss. Before I left on the trip, I got used to eating small portions of food throughout the day, and eating better and lighter foods in general. But when you are travelling by vehicle it's really hard to stick to this kind of diet, and we ended up eating 3 large meals a day. I really did try to eat lighter, but with being on vacation made it an uphill battle. Now I've gotten refocused on losing the weight, and hope to continue to feel lighter weight wise in the coming weeks and months ahead. Hubby has promised me a $400.00CDN shopping spree when I hit my target weight, so it's something to work towards. Have a great day everyone!

When I cheat I don't make a big deal out of it, I just get back on track and keep going. I do weigh myself everyday, but don't make that big deal out of the numbers I see, so long as I'm not gaining, and seeing a slow but steady decrease in my weight. I have lost a total of 8 lbs since I started my diet in Jan, and now that my vacation is over, am more serious than ever about losing the weight. I have no choice in the matter, and have to lose the weight or face major back problems in the near future. I've had 2 docs tell me to lose the weight, which is what I remind myself when I fall off the wagon. No excuses not to lose the weight this time. All of us fall of the wagon once in a while when dieting. The most important thing is to jump back on afterwards. Have a great day!!

I'm down another 1.8 lbs this week ~ 12.5 since mid-January when I joined Weight Watchers.
This week could be very challenging ~ I'm flying to Orlando for the weekend (to attend a memorial service; not going the parks) and I'm fighting a cold as well. Since there's no nutritional info/calorie counts for Disney restaurants, I'll have to just guess at point values.
Keep up the good work!

I stalled too. I had to do an apple day this week and I finally lost another decade! Gone are the days I was in the 60's - here come the 150's - well I'm 159 to be exact. My hubby thinks I'm disappearing. But after being 25lbs overweight from my twins for years and then to have another baby where I was pushing over 200lbs - I'm happy that I've lost the weight which could now be considered the weight of a small child :scared1:. That's one child that I DON'T want to see again! :rotfl: So I pray that I can keep losing at this pace and keep dropping decades like flies. What's next? I'm hoping for the 140s but with a Universal March Break trip coming up, I'm planning for a stall. But that's okay, I know what I need to do once I get back from Universal so I won't be so devastated as to begin emotionally eating my way to huge weight gains.
Good luck to everyone on their journey!

I'm in. I turned 44 on March 6th. My goal is to drop 80lbs by my 45th birthday. Man, that was hard to type.
I have several "mini" goals set up: Lose 15lbs by Easter. Lose 30 lbs by Mother's Day. Lose 50lbs before our summer trip to Newfoundland end July. Lose 65 by Christmas.
I started my own low calorie/reduced carbs program on Saturday and as of yesterday have lost 2lbs. I will weigh myself again this Saturday. Sticking to about 1000-1200 calories, and trying to not combine carbs with other foods, within reason. There are some exceptions, of course, but by "limiting" them and not "denying" them, I am hoping I will find it easier to stick to.
For breakfast I have one Dempster's Smart English muffin with 2 slices of tomato and about an oz of cheese. I also am drinking the Slim Quick supplements twice a day for the extra vitamins. Lunch and supper I have been having salad with chicken, or roast beef with mashed turnip and celery. For a snack at night I have been slicing and apple and putting a tiny bit of margarine and some cinnamon, and then heating it in the microwave for a sweet snack, or having grapes, melon, etc. I also allow myself one chocolate chip cookie a day with a cup of tea.
It's not a perfect, but a my current weight it takes 2100 calories to maintain what I have. I figure if I stick around 1000-1200 calories, including a built in treat every day, I am bound to lose a couple of lbs a week. I have given myself a year, so that averages out to 1.5 lbs a week. I think that is reasonable.

I've been as high as 235 (Jan 2005) and as low as 170 (Aug 2007). Today I'm almost back up to 190 and it's really starting to drive me nuts! My "skinny" clothes are starting to fit a little too tight and I'm getting uncomfortable in my own skin. I used to work out very diligently at GoodLife but life has caught up with me. I haven't been to the gym in quite a while because DW is busy at night and I'm taking care of my little guy. Basically, I walk in the door after work and the little fella is mine for the evening. I totally think it's fair but by the time I put him down for bed between 7:30 and 8 p.m. I'm just not in the mood to head to the gym which is only a couple minute drive away.
Now that winter seems to be releasing it's grip I'm going to get back on track. My goal is to drop 15 lbs by May. I'm going for a run today with one of my co-workers so hopefully this is something we can keep up. My eating is actually pretty good, surprisingly, but I gotta watch my sweets. They kill me! I'm going to start taking my multi-vitamins again because they seemed to help but I think a big chunk of this weight loss is going to be the physical side of things. If I know that I'm going to be working out I eat REALLY well because I see food as fuel. If I'm not working out I'm generally not as diligent but still not terrible. We'll see how it goes....

So to add to my diet misery...:goodvibes I have also started to drink Dr. Oz Raw Green Drink....Here is the recipe just in case any one is interested.....
* 2 apples, cored
* 2 big handfuls of spinach
* 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
* 1 celery stick, chopped
* 1 thumbnail length of ginger root, peeled
* 1 lemon - juice only (use peel slice for zest)
* 1 medium cucumber
Place ingredients in a blender, add 4 oz. spring water or a handful of ice cubes, then puree quickly for one minute. Makes two glasses of Dr. Oz’s green drink.
The green drink has a strong taste and if you are used to drinking soda or sweet tea, the taste will take some getting used to. Dr. Oz suggests adding other items at first to sweeten the green drink to your taste.
Green drink - Optional ingredients:
* 2nd cucumber
* raw carrot
* unsweetened fruit juice
* banana

Hi folks... we just got back yesterday afternoon from WDW. Had a blast I would deffinatly recommend Animal Kingdom Lodge. The weather was great but it rained the day we left for home so perfect timing. while I was away I blew my diet all to heck..sad2: so much in fact I am affraid to stand on the scale to see just how far off the wagon I fell. I'm serious I just don't want to be let down right now so will not get on it for now. I will take some time to get my eating back in order maybe a week and hope by then I will stand on the thing. I tried to keep my morning walk going and realy loved the walk around Downtown Disney from SSR it was very warm and loved every step. We stayed for the first 4 days at SSR and then the last 4 at AKL.
I suppose I can only blame myself and the meal plan Disney offers :guilty:. The food was first class and I could not resist the dinner menu's. Anyways hope to get back on track real soon and start making some dates to set some benchmark losses. first date I suppose will be the holiday weekend in May I hope to loose 10 pounds so should start right away. Then maybe July 01st kick off to summer hopefully another 5 pounds by then. and then another 10 to 15 by my 43rd Bday in middle of August. Anyways just had to vent my dissapointment and will try to keep going. I guess its a life changing decission I have to make to meet my goal of better weight management and health. just before leaving on vacation a co worker was at the "Y" and collapsed in the middle of the floor, an off duty paramedic was there and started CPR right away and had to use the defibulators they had there to re start his heart. It worked and he later found out a tripple by pass was needed. he was only 44 yrs with two young children and was he ever lucky. So if that is not a wake up call for all of us I don't know what is. Thks for listening everyone and great work on your losses. You all are helping me right now with this thank alot. :)

Well I have read every post in this thread.
I would love to join in.
My name is Katherine, I have been a WW for 8 years -2 years
I am a slow loser. It took me 3 1/2years to lose 50lbs.
Then I got pregnant, gained 60.
Since DS was born I have only lost 30lbs.
I just can't seem to get back on the program fully.
I have 30lbs. to lose, would love to lose 40.
Disneymama that cleanse thing sounds horrible, sorry.
I like my food and like it to taste good. I couldn't do that.
All the power to you though.:thumbsup2
Weight loss is not a diet it is a lifestyle change otherwise you just gain it all back, or at least that is what I have been taught.
I wanted to speed up my weight loss, as we are going to WDW and a cruise in May.
Last year my mom went on this cleansing weight loss program.
She lost 60 lbs. and cut her insuln in half as she is a diabetic.
She now follows their maintenance program and has kept the weight off.
So since I had not lost anything since Jan nor gained anything I decide I would try this program.
I am still attending my WW on Wednesdays.
In the first 5 days I lost 1.6lbs.:yay:
Here's hoping for more next week.:)

I completely agree that weight loss is not a diet but a life style change.
I realize that my cleanse seems very drastic but trust me when I tell you and everyone that I have been eating some of the best tasting food. Things that I would have never bought or done has made a wonderful change in our kitchen. Plus we can eat as much as we want. My husband and I are past the eight weeks and done the cleanse but both have decided to keep to it on the most part. We still start our day off with the lemon water and fresh veggie juice. Still keeping to the no sugar and many of the other rules. I have had some off days but have still managed to loose 11lbs, while my DH who has stuck to it and got back into running has lost almost 30lbs, and he feels great. Now that our crazy snow and ice is off the roads I can get back into power walking.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Loosing weight is not an easy thing.

Thanks, you and I have something else in common power walking is something I loved to do when I was in better shape. When the weather gets a little nicer I will be starting that as well. The weight loss plan I have decided to join and do is the same one my mother was successful at.
It's called Isagenix and is a total body cleanse.

Good morning all! I thought I would put in an appearance on this thread after being MIA for a long while! We went to WDW over the March break and I was actually quite pleased at the variety of choices in the park. I was able to eat relatively healthily and of course did oodles of walking! I am down a total of 12 lbs since getting serious about my weight loss in mid-Feb or so. SLowly but surely wins the race! My brother passed away in January at age 50 of a heart attack so now I am more determined than ever to GET HEALTHY!!

I'm glad to see everyone is doing so well. What is everyones running totals now?

Congratulations, Candielips!!!! How exciting for you and your family!!!!
I'm still plodding along at weight watchers but have hit one of the dreaded plateaus ... down 18.6 lbs since starting in January, but no real change for the month of March.
After Easter this weekend, I'm going back to my Week 1 book and will try to re-start and be very strict about eating only my basic points without dipping into the 35 "bonus" points to see if I can break through this.
Good luck to everyone trying hard! Hopefully the good weather will be more condusive to exercising ...

Hey I totally understand your plateau as I have been a WW for quite a few years. I have been at one of those plateaus for most of this year.
So almost 2 weeks ago I started a total body cleanse called Isagenix.
Well it's working lost 1.6lbs. in the first 5 days, weighed in this week and I lost another 3.2 lbs. I am just so happy about this. I feel great! I am using both WW and isagenix together as they are both about a lifestyle change.

That is a lot of weight to lose since Jan, great job! thanks guys it's going to be so crazy going to WDW 30 wks pregnant, but we'll manage. Lots of ice cream for the mama.
I officially put my WW on hold so once the baby comes back I go to WW. I lost a lot of weight w/ their nursing mothers program, so I'm hoping I can do as well this time too.

Well today is my weigh in day. :thumbsup2
I tried to be good this week what with easter and all the chocolate.
I did have some chocolate.
Went to the gym 4 times this week.
Burned a total of 3570 calories.
So hopefully that will show when I get on the scales.
Wish me luck!
I will post when I get home tonight and let everyone know how I did. :thumbsup2

I want to lose 50 pounds by December! Prbably isn't going to happen but, I really want try....
I have just started the Basic Fat Burning /Detoux Soup diet from Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital. It is used in their Cardiac Care Unit for overweight heart patients to lose weight before surgery.
The first week it claims you can lose anywhere from 10-17 pounds.
Has anyone tried this seven day diet plan? Wish me well!
Thanks

Hi Charleyann
I was interested in this diet, but did some research first and this is what I found on a recent blog :
Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital (where the diet supposedly originated) have even issued a press release saying that they have nothing to do with it and that they do not consider it to be healthy or safe:
http://www.shmc.org/index.php/page/298
I have lost 30 pounds since January and what I have done is watch what I eat and try to make healthy choices, count calories and make sure I excercise at least 15 mins per day, plus take a 45min walk with the dog after supper each evening and don't eat after 7pm.
It's not easy, I like the bad food the same as anyone else, but I want to become healthier and that is what "holds me back" from splurging.
I still want to lose another 10-15lbs but I know the last few pounds are always the hardest.
If you give the diet a try, keep us posted with the results :thumbsup2
Take Care :goodvibes

Thank you for passing that information along! You have done very well on your weight loss program. Congratulations!
I have started th soup diet, so I think I'll try it for a couple of weeks and see what happens. I'll be sure to keep in mind the possibe scenarios associated with this diet.
I want to go on our December / Christmas cruises muh more slender. I look at the pictures from our cruise in Mexico and think " Geez, I got more rolls than the Pillsbury dough boy! LOL....
Take Care

Great results, Katscradle!!!
I'm still on program but battling through my plateau ... up 0.2 lbs at this week's weigh-in. Still down almost 20 since January, but no progress for over a month
I know I have to press on though ~ I've still got a LOT of weight to lose, and still want to be down another 25 by my WDW trip in August.
Hang in there everyone!

I lost a 1/2 lb. this week, which is low, but considering all the cake I ate at the birthday parties for DS who turned 6. I am greatful for the 1/2lb. loss.
I was expecting to gain. Needless to say I was very surprised when my measurements showed a loss of 5 inches total.
Everyone have a great day!
Also I will try and post my new results on Tuesday.
I day early this week for weighing and measuring as on Tuesday night we leave to begin the exciting trip to WDW. :yay::yay:
Needless to say I am so excited right now. :dance3:

Just wondering how everyone is doing?
Well I finished my liver cleanse and I had a total weight loss of 11lbs in 8 weeks. Now that I have been off I have put back on about 5lbs but I think that some of it might be muscle. I started a great work out called Cardioboxing. I go to a local boxing club and you do Cardio revolving around boxing. It's great. But to put a damper on things I sprained my ankle the other day and won't be able to go to a class for about another week.:sad2:
Still working on the Wii fit from time to time.
Hope everyone is well.:goodvibes

Hey guy's I am back from my WDW trip and cruise. :thumbsup2
It was great and I really enjoyed alot of my dining experiences while I was on vacation. :)
I don't think I gained weight as the new clothes are still fitting very comfortably. I don't weigh in till next Wednesday so that will be the real test.:rotfl2:
I missed not having my routine with my weight loss while I was gone, I know weird! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
However the Brown Derby, & Portabello were worth it. :rotfl::rotfl:
