ok since August I have been promised a promotion at work and month after month they had been stringing me along...... finally I interviewed for the position and have been waiting for a few weeks for the answer. in between the interview and when I asked I had opened 8 gap cards ( a big deal in retail) in one week, figured out that there are several things that I know about the company that the other managers DON'T, and honestly worked my butt off to show this woman I was the best person for the job.
So I asked her yesterday and she is offering it to the other girl, in MHO it is because this girl is a BIG BROWN NOSER and not because she is qualified! when I told the other management about it they were honestly mad! so tomorrow starts my job hunt!
I was so upset I had to leave work early and was crying for like two hours!! I hate life sometimes! why is it that I am always the hardest worker and most motivated and I never get any further in life:sad:
Katie,
I am so sorry. I hope you find a job where dedication and hard work is appreciated and rewarded. I know there are employers out there who want employees like you!

I'm very sorry for you but unfortunately that is the way it is in a lot of companies. Hopefully you'll find something soon where you can be appreciated for what you do and not how well you can kiss rump.

Katie,
I know it sucks right now. You just have to believe no matter how crappy it is right now, it will be for the better.
Good luck and always come here if you want to talk.

Seriously TINK, listen to me when I say, there is totally a reason behind this crap.. You might think now that this is so unfair, but it is a sign that you are "NOT" supposed to be there.. I went through the same thing, I was working 12 hour grave shifts at the hospital, then changing clothes and doing clinical "free" work for 8 hours a day, hoping after I finished school the hospital would hire me.......long story short, they screwed me and I quit the night I learned, I stormed out and never went back.... two weeks later, I landed the job I am at right now, "PERFECT FIT, AWESOME PAY" I was totally thrown into this place,,,,, And I dragged a few others out to come work with me here...
I know for a fact, this doesnt happen for "no reason!!"
Keep your eyes open, because you are NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THERE!!!:wizard:

Remember, the #1 thing you can do no matter where you work nowadays is watch your butt and only care for yourself. Companies do not care about you one iota, so don't feel bad about going out and getting another job. Screw them.

Hang in there. It's become a sad reality of life that a number of companies work with a 'if you face fits' attitude. Don't waste energy getting upset you will just tangle yourself up in knots. Hold your head up high and show them that yes you are disappointed but a bigger person. Keep taking their paycheck and in the meantime search for somewhere that deserves you. Keep smiling. x

That really stinks. I hope you find a new job soon where they appreciate your work ethic. I totally agree with the PP as taking this as a sign you're not supposed to stay there. I'm sure you'll find something better!

So sorry Katie! No doubt you will find something better. In my experience, the 'brown nosers' eventually are seen for what they are. Maybe not right away, but it usually comes around to it. You can stand with your chin high knowing you have not compromised who you are just to get ahead.
Hang In!

Don't spend to much time being upset. Get good and mad, and then let it go. I know its hard, but it isn't worth the energy it steals from you. I too think you are not meant to be there for a reason you dont see YET.
My job is just that, a job. They have actually made me go from a caring hard worker, to a get by type or worker. They dont want me to spend extra effort to do the job right, they just want it done so it looks good on paper- and fast. "Screw the customers, make the numbers look good" is their moto. This goes against everything I am! I made myself so upset over it, until it beat me to the point where I conformed. Its a sad reality. And co workers- OMG they are all about themselves! I have given up caring about them too, another thing that goes against my nature. So now I put my hat on,work 8 hrs and forget it till I go back the next day. Its the only way I can survive without having a nervous break down.

Oh Katie - I understand. It's emotionally the same as being laid off. You put in the devotion and the time and that's how they reward you.
As I learned last year - patience and persistence will end up putting you in the right place at the right time. You have to learn what you need to from the lesson before you can move to the next level.
You'll be fine. Karma has your back. May not seem so right now, but it's true. When the store loses it's performance, they'll pay for the mistakes they made.
Use your energies for good. Focus on the better future!

THANK YOU GUYS YOU ARE GREAT!!!:goodvibes
I know that this job isn't what I want for my future, and it seems I might have a lead on a new job! but I don't wanna get my hopes up till I know for sure! I think thats why it hurt so much before I got my hopes up too high!!!

Good luck with the job hunt! Hopefully (even though it sucks) you will walk away from this experience with some knowledge and wisdom.

Hey Katie:
You may not believe in this type of thing, but I believe that things happen for a reason. You may not know the reason now, but soon you will look back and realize "oh that is why". You are not meant to be a manager of this store chain, you are meant to do something bigger and better. I know life is a pain and it doesn't seem fair. Hang in there and you will soon figure out what is meant for you in your life. :flower3:
