Hello everyone!
For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!
New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Last LR of the schedule for me today!! I did 6.2, just because. Nothing fancy. My last couple weeks running haven't been fabulous due to a head cold. Just hoping it clears before next Saturday.
Are you ready for some marathon? ;)

I'm so ready! I ironed a bunch of stuff and packed most of it tonight. I can't believe it is finally almost here! AAAHHHHH!
Tomorrow hoping to hop on the old treadmill for a 3 miler or so. I meant to today and just never got around to it.
So happy the weather is looking better, so excited to be back in Disney, so looking forward to running in my WISH shirt!

Oh, Allyson, wearing that WISH shirt is one of the best parts of the experience! In addition to the extra push from WISHers who recognized my WISHness, I can't tell you how great it was to cheer on the other WISHers. I'm a back-of-the-packer, and on the out-and-back for the Minnie, it lifted me tremendously to yell across to the green shirts (I especially loved seeing my personal hero, Racy Tracy, I have to say).
Okay, there may have been a point as we crossed the overpass where I was convinced those people ahead of us must have cut across to be that far ahead, but still...:rotfl:
I can't believe you're packing already! Maybe I should do that tomorrow...
Thanks, Mel, for starting us off. :)
I'm off to bed. See you all tomorrow!

OK WISHERs!! This time next week its the FULL MARATHONers!!! GO WISH!!!
Weather Update:
Wed: High 77 Low 48 Showers 40% rain
Thurs: High 73 Low 47 Sunny 0% rain
Fri (5K): High 72 Low 49 Sunny 0% rain
Sat (Half): High 77 Low 52 Partly Cloudy 10% rain
Sun (Full): High 74 Low 50 Partly Cloudy 10% rain
Mon: High 73 Low 52 Showers 60% rain
So to me the Half and Full days are looking good. I would def take a partly cloudy day at 77 so the sun isn't hitting all the time thorughout the race!!
Showers have moved to Mon., see folks I try to work my FL weather mojo!!
Duckie: Thanks for the hero stuff, but really - I'm blushing now!! :upsidedow
I'm out for a 7 miler and then a BUNCH of errand and off to Publix "where shopping is a pleasure" for some groceries!! Need to get this stuff done today as I work Mon, Tues and Wed. I am driving up on Thursday at 7:30am to be in line at WWoS around 11am.
Later Wishers,

Finishing up my coffee and then I have to go outside to help my DH take down the Christmas lights - I am so bummed. He wants them down before we leave and this is the only time we can do it. He wanted to do it yesterday but I made him wait (I had to take pictures of it all first - forgot to do that before now.) got my pictures and now its going to be dark out there - I always hate that. I think I am going to hold out on my Christmas trees until after I get back - I just love looking at them and since they are fake why not keep them up a little longer.
I do plan on getting out for a short 2-3 miler but most likely won't get to it until late and then I will have to TM it. I can't believe that in just a week those of us doing the full will be 3 hours into this thing. Of course Adrian Bastos will be done with the thing almost an hour prior but that is another story!! LOL Good luck Wish team mates - have fun - enjoy the ride!!!

Jeff - Great Pics! I've driven the Road to Hana. It is lo-o-ng and a bit scary in some sections. I always hoped I didn't drive off the cliff on some of those turns. :scared1:
I got in 4 miles today. It was okay. Two more weeks til my race.
Good luck to all the Wishers headed to WDW. Have a great trip!

Hey everybody!!! I can't believe this time next week, we will be almost done with the race!! I feel like I was just there last year and here it is again..time flies!!! Today, I am trying to relax after yesterdays 8 miler and TWO hockey games, probably not a good idea when tapering for the Goofy, as I am feeling it today. But the plan is to rest all day today and probably tomorrow. Then do 3 on tuesday and 2 on wednesday before heading to WDW on Thursday!!! :cool1: :cool1: I can't wait!!!
Looks like everyone is doing a great job getting those last runs in this weekend! Can't wait to see everyone next weekend!!
mel--Hope your head cold clears up before next weekend!
Allyson--I am impressed that you ironed everything! I have some extra stuff that needs ironing..can I send it to you? :rotfl:
duckie--You are right about the extra push from people when they see the WISH gear! It was awesome last year having people chear when they saw the WISH stuff, it helped carry me to the end!!!
Jeff--Once again..AWESOME pics!! You and your family do some pretty cool stuff. I told my Fi that I want to move to Hawaii...he looked at me like I was crazy until I showed him the pics, and he said he wants to now too!!
Tracy-weather forecast looks good...although I am not getting to excited yet, as it will probably change 4 times before next weekend!!
Stephanie--A 4 day taper!!! I don't feel as bad anymore about all the hockey I played yesterday...I guess I can say a 4 day taper for myself too! Hope you had a great 10 miler.
Tricia--I hope Adrian Bastos is there again this year...he is fun to watch! I laughed to myself last year as I was going past the halfway mark in the full, and I thought about how he was DONE!!!! That is just so weird to me.
Terri--Good Luck in your upcoming race, we will miss you at WDW!
Hope everyone has a great week leading up to the races!! If I don't get back on here..see everyone next weekend!

Good luck to everyone doing WDW next weekend. Hope everyone accomplishes their goals.
I have started training to do a half on May 17. Xterratri is going to try an do it with me. I started my training yesterday with 30 min on the treddie and 32 min on stationary bike today. Am going to follow MFM walk a half for 6 week and then change to the 14 week MFM walk/run the half. Hoping I can stick with the program
The girls and I will miss seeing evevyone at the races. Lynne cannot get the time off so we went (Mom and I) to visit her and Erin. We were in Hawaii from Dec 13 to Dec 27. The last day was interesting as we had just been seated at Cheesecake Factory, for a final meal out before flying out on Saturday, when the power went out. It was out for the whole island of Ohau and driving back to the opposite side of the island (where the girls live) was interesting with no stop lights. We didn't get power back until noon the next day and had to be at the airport by 2.
The time spent with the girls was relaxing. Christmas day was spent at the beach. Erin said it is a Hawaiin tradition. I tried boogie boarding but wasn't very successful. I will try an post a couple of photos later.
Will try and keep up with the tread this year. It will help keep me accountable to exercising.

Hello everyone!
I had 5 miles on my training schedule today, but don't really feel up to it, so I'm going to skip it. Nothing's really wrong (I'm not sick or anything thank goodness), but really feeling like I should conserve my strength for next weekend - a "listen to my body" feeling. I'll put in one more short run on Tuesday, and maybe a quickie when we get down to Florida.
I am so excited about leaving on Thursday! It really takes the sting off having to back to work tomorrow. Now I need to start powering through the LOOOONG list of things that need to be done between now and then!
Have a great week, and see many of you very, very soon.
P.S. Thanks Tracy - I'm loving the new weather forecast. Keep up the good work!

** UPDATE FOR PACKING!! **
PLEASE, PLEASE, don't forget to pack some sunscreen. Remember that FL is not called the sunshine state just for fun. The UV index will be around 8-10. 10 being the highest UV exposure rate. Bring some sweatproof kind for race day, bring some lipbalm with sunscreen. Also, please bring some suncreen for every day use. DO NOT GET A SUNBURN!! (we floridians can always tell people from out of state who walk around the parks FRIED like a red tomatoes.)
Also, the sunscreen works better if you put it on in the morning before you leave the room. It needs to soak into the skin. As the day goes on then you reapply. Even on a cloudy day you are still getting UV exposure to your skin.
Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Tracy

The girls and I will miss seeing evevyone at the races.
Great to hear from you, Kathy! We missed you at RfVJ and will miss you even more this coming weekend. Christmas in Hawaii sounds alot more comfy than frigid NY......seems like you had a nice time in spite of the power glitch. Wish us luck as I go for Mickey #2 and John attempts to get #1!

Since I missed posting last week:
 Congrats Kira!!!
Mel: pixiedust: some pd for that cold of yours. I feel like I'm coming down with one too (my dad has it bad) so lets hope that the taper rest and lots of water will kick its' butt before the race.
Allyson: Wow I haven't even started packing yet. Kudos to you!
Duckie: I've gotta agree the WISH shirts (and scream teams) are the best!
I am rather bummed that I probably wont be able to make any of the meets other than pre/post races. My parents are coming (not to mention paying  ) and we are getting in super late on Thursday and heading out super early on Tuesday. I think it's our shortest trip on record, but I'll take it!
Tracy: I hope your weather report holds! And by this time next week
WE'LL BE DONE!!!!!! :yay:
Jeff: Seeing your pics from the past few days makes me want to come visit...which reminds me....
I have big news....
I'm ENGAGED!!! :bride: :groom: My boyfriend proposed New Years Eve (okay technically it was New Years Extremely Early Morning!). We've set the date for May 23, 2009. I'm just a little bit :jumping1: to say the least!
This definitely gives me something to think about during those long stretches between parks!
Happy taper madness!

Congrats Claire! Best wishes on your engagement! Happy Wedding Planning!
I didn't think I was so crazy to pack now, I mean we leave in FOUR DAYS! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
And I realized I don't need as much as I thought. For the Bahamas portion of the trip I'll be living in a bathing suit by day and a sundress by night. Really cut down on the amount of stuff when I really thought about it.

Claire--many congrats! Have fun planning!
Well, my ten miles is done and in the books. It wasn't pretty, but it's finished. The weather was very uncooperative today. Started out at 65 degrees with 85% humidity with a light north wind. Ended up at 50 degrees, raining with a stiff north wind. I was cold, wet, and a bit defeated by the end. But I didn't give up and finished. And what is it they say about a bad last LR, that race day will be great? Well, that's what I'm believing anyway! Safe travels to all this next week. We leave noontime on Thursday!:cool1:

Hi all!
Jeff. Those pictures are amazing.
Good lick next weekend everyone.
As for me, I will be taking a birthday run in a little bit. I have put in a request for an ice cream cake. We'll see if I get it. I ended up napping yesterday since it was too cold to take a run on the Boardwalk. Yup, another quick trip to Atlantic City. I'm trying to somehow stretch DBF's winnings into a Disney trip. I'm not sure if he is going for it though. I'm still going in March even it he doesn't want to make it into a big trip.
Have a good week everyone!

Taper Racy Tracy: I mean it! You started right next to me and we saw you on the out-and-back so I know you didn't cut across--you're just supahfast! :goodvibes Someday maybe I can get fast like you! Right now, I'll focus on finishing.... And thanks for the reminder about the sunblock!
Tricia: Sorry about the lights. :( I forgot to take pictures of our house this year, both inside and out. Take it easy on the three-miler--we're tapering! :woohoo: Almost there!
Terri: We'll miss you in WDW. Good luck on your race if we don't meet up on the boards here before then! I know you'll do great. :)
Laurie: You call all those miles AND two hockey games a taper? And yes, it's uplifting to hear the WISH team cheering you on, isn't it? Makes it all worth it. :) See you this weekend! Woohoo!
NYcpa: A May half! I'll decide on that after this coming weekend. The MFM books was a huge help for me last year in training for the Minnie. The program isn't too overwhelming, and I'm sure if you hang out here you'll get the support you need to stick with it! Sounds like your Hawaiian vacation was a lovely as Jeff's photos!
AlohaJeff: Your photos always make me want to leave for Hawaii immediately!
GoofyinOhio: Woohoo! Eight miles closer to the weekend! Good job--see you soon! :)
Kira: I think it was smart to take it easy--next weekend is all that matters! The training is really done at this point. And you are right--I'm hating work tomorrow, but then it's a four-day weekend (and back-to-back four-day weeks!). We'll be there soon!
Jeanne: I was thinking the same about the warm Christmas--we need to start new tropical traditions and get out the of the tristate area next year! How about a christmas palm tree? :)
Claire: Congratulations! Woohoo! Planning a wedding in five months? That will definitely keep you busy! We have a tight timeline too, with a late Thursday arrival and a late Monday departure. See you at the starting line!
Allyson: You are right to start packing already--I usually pack the night before and don't get enough rest--your plan is much better! :rotfl: I can't believe it is so soon! And I love your Bahamas trip. I'm trying to talk DH into a beach vacay this summer. :) I suspect he'll point to our BC stay as close enough! Nice idea about the sundress/swimsuit pairing--more space in your suitcase for other stuff! :)
Stephanie: Great job on those ten miles! Woohoo! Don't let the last miles get you down--you'll be so full of race day excitement you'll forget all about it. And no need to feel defeated--you got the miles in. That's all that matters. :)
Megan: Have fun in AC! Happy Birthday! There should be great deals to be had--the casinos are complaining that they aren't making money because they don't have the business. A quick online search should help you find some fun ways to spend those winnings if a Disneytrip is out!
AFM, we got two miles in yesterday and almost 6 miles today at the mall. The mall opened 15 minutes late, cutting into our walking time (our mall opens early for mallwalkers so that you don't have to dodge all the crowds).
I can't believe it's almost here! DH is still buying new gear for the half (!). I tried to tell him, but he doesn't listen (he also bought new shoes for the half and didn't even buy the same style that he had been wearing--which would be okay if he didn't buy them online without trying them on!). The little Garmin isn't here yet (we went with the 105 because we're Macs, and the 205 didn't support mac os), but it should be here tomorrow.
Have a great Sunday everyone! See you at the marathon real soon!

A real quick hello and drive by here.
Have all the running gear packed, working on regular clothes. Was so concerned about not forgetting any of what we'll need for the races that I didn't even think about what to wear the rest of the time!
Got in 4.8 miles today. Wanted 6 but it's 33 degrees with a wind chill of 20 so cut it short. Just too cold. The temps next weekend are going to feel so good.
Got Mon & Tue at work (boo) off Wed to finish up packing, housework then we leave at 6am Thurs. So excited!!

Hi everyone!
I haven't posted in the main thread in a while, but I'm going to try to be better about that this year.
It's muggy and mild in Alabama. I hope the weather stays good for all of you heading to the World for the marathon!
I did 5 miles in 45 minutes today.

Hey Jen and Liz!!
Jen: Yes, My Mom is only doing the 5K on Friday. Sat - she will be scream teaming it and following me around. I will put her with you at the start right in the front of the walkers area. I want her to have a buffer. I am starting in the back with Liz and others (I think). That way we cross the start line last. At some point I will pass her right before the finish to get a photo of her crossing the finish line -she doesn't know that yet.
Thinking of doing the Princess - you should make it a girls only trip!! I'm going solo so COME!!
Liz: Hey girl, sounds like your almost packed. I also have my raceday stuff for both days set aside, now just gotta figure out what to wear the rest of the time. hehe. What time am I meeting up with you Friday after the 5K??
I did a nice 7 miler this AM. Felt good - was gonna try for 8 but my brain said no I shouldn't push it.

Jen - Yeah, you should join us at the Princess! I've got room in the villa!! Girls only weekend at WDW, staying at OKW with blender for margaritas (yes, I know what's important - friends and frothy drinks).

Hi everyone! I ran 4 miles this morning - did it on the TM though. I'm a little disappointed in myself that I never got in as many LRs as I think I should have. I did 90% of my short runs and speedwork during the week so I still think I'll be in good shape (fingers crossed).
Claire - Congrats on your engagement!
Liz - You sound like me! I was so worried about what I should be wearing on Saturday I sort of forgot about my other clothing. I'm bringing a little bit of everything myself... at least race wear is light weight :)
Tracy - Thanks for the sunscreen tip! You know, I honestly never thought much about it since it's January. Actually I may put some on and do a practice run with it - just to make sure it doesn't run into my eyes.
Jeff - I love your pics!! The tourism department should give you some kind of a bonus. Everytime I see your pics, I'm always thinking about a trip to Hawaii!
Can't wait to meet everyone in a couple of days!!

Oh and today I ran with my spibelt. I just got it in the mail on Friday. It was great. It didn't bounce around, didn't bother me in anyway. I was glad it was a non issue. It fit my camera and 2 sport bean packs and I know I can slide a room key in there too!

Liz: I wanna get one of just her crossing the finish line - hopefully she'll be smiling!! Thanks for the thought. OK 9:30am I'll be there with bells on - hehe.
YES! I think we need to kidnap Jen and bring her along with the girls for the Princess Half. After she completes her first half this weekend she'll be hooked and will need another injection of Halfness(?):confused3 (that made sense in my head, but looking at it now, not so much.)
Jeff: Are leaving and flying out straight from your vacation??

Tracy: I like how in your mind I don't end up at the back of the pack with you and Liz and that you pass us right before the end. Your mom is so much fun--it'll be great to walk with her!
Liz and Tracy: I'm working on DH for the Princess.... *evil laugh* I have dropped into conversation that I know how he already said I can't have a girls-only weekend with my friends in March. ;) Right now airfare for that weekend is crazy--if I can catch a sale rate, I'll be there (although I'd have to fly home on Sunday night afterward--I'm using my two personal days this weekend). I'll be needing a break by then--it's the weekend after state testing!
BTW, I also like how both of your scenarios have me finishing the half this weekend! :) A girls' weekend sounds like so much fun!
I confess that I use DH's deployment overseas as his "boy time" whenever I want to go away without him....
Jennifer: Sorry you won't be with at the marathon--maybe next year?
Holy cow...I think I just had the thought that I would be doing this again! I haven't done it the first time!
Allyson: isn't that spibelt thing the coolest? I took photos of it last year empty and then after I stuck in my credit card, my gu, my inhaler, and my cell phone. It all fit! Of course, then DH wore it for the race anyway. :confused3 Great job getting that workout in! I'm still doing laundry for the week so I can pack, too.
Bunnyfoo: I can't believe it's almost here! Four miles on the TM sounds like a plan to me. I didn't get in as many LRs as I had hoped, either, but I think we'll be okay. We have WISH pixie dust on our side!

Sounds like you all are ready to go! :cheer2: I'm now getting depressed that I more than likely won't be participating because of my knee. But, I do need to let it heal properly so I can do other races coming up. *sigh*
I wanted to come on here to wish everyone well and I look forward to cheering you on from the sidelines. You'll all do great and I am looking forward to meeting many of you at the POP meet and other WISH meets as well. GO WISH, GO!
Since I knew I wouldn't be participating in the race this year, I decided to treat myself to Disneyland Paris last Monday. I was in Paris anyway so I thought...what the heck...I'll go to DLP. Well, it was probably like going to WDW during the busiest day of the year. Yikes! Wall-to-wall people and it was 32 degrees. :cold: It took me over 1 hour just to buy the ticket to get into the park. The wait for the rides was so long. Subsequently, I only did two - Phantom Manor (Haunted Mansion) and Tower of Terror. Below are pics of the castle (day & night) and one of the TofT in Disney Studios at DLP:

Tracy, like Chris said, I have one day of work back on Oahu on Tuesday (like a whole lot is going to get done that day).
Chris, you scare me that you know my work schedule better than I do. Get off this board, and the other board, and spend some time with your wife and kids. :rotfl:
Hey to everyone else. I'll post some more pictures of day 4 on Maui shortly after dinner.
Sorry man but if I read it I remember it. I don't read much. LOL

Maui, day 4
We had a fun time on the Atlantis Submarine in Lahaina.

We skipped the Sugar Cane steam train ride, as the keiki were a bit tired. So we went to visit buddy of mine and his keiki.
On the drive back, we stopped along the highway lookout, and saw five humpback whales. No photos, because they were just too far away for my camera to catch them. They were breaching, so huge splashes could be seen from where we were. (These pictures are from 2008).

Congratulations Claire! What wonderful news!
I spent yesterday getting enough things done around the house so that I could really start thinking about getting ready to leave on Thursday. This included doing a load of sheets with one of my daughter's orange crayons in it - orange polka-dotted sheets anyone! :scared1: . Whoops!
Now I can start thinking about packing and leaving! I'm keeping my eye on the weather here in Philadelphia on Thursday. It's going to be pretty windy and cold here, but no significant precipitation seems to be in the forecast.
I'm planning a short 3-4 miles tomorrow, and that may be it until Saturday. It will be very hard for me to get any running done on Thursday - I'll be doing some park walking on Friday though which should keep me limber!

Hey everyone!
First day back to work for me since December 12! Can you say "rust"? Did 4 miles this am on the treadmill and was so glad to be done with it. I'm tired of training. First time I've felt like "when's the darn race gonna be here!"
Already trying to figure out my fitness goals for 2009. If a cheap airfare beckoned, I would try to run a fast 5k at the Princess weekend. (Fast being a relative term for me!). If not, looking at the Detroit Climb--70 floors up the RenCen tower.
Can't wait for work to be done and the fun to start. See everyone soon!

Hey everyone! We took a week off and didn't have "real" internet access. I could see stuff on my iPhone, but it was too hard to post...
So, my mom and I finished out our half training with an 8 miler. I wish we'd made it to the full 10 just to steady her nerves, but she's been fighting PF all season. We're totally excited though! I have a big stack of clothes to bring- hopefully I can weed a few things out. I have a big car, but it's humiliating dragging in all this stuff for one weekend!
Kira G-- Congratulations! Yep, I ran the Goofy pregnant, but didn't know. I had him in September. I'm glad to see you didn't do your LR this week- I was worn out when I was about your stage (although I'd finished the Goofy, so that didn't help). My doctor told me to be able to maintain a conversation-- so at 20 weeks I ran the Minnie with Becky (Lexxifern) and chatted the whole way. As I got bigger, it was actually liberating to just enjoy running (or walking) and not worry about improving my times! I'm still running now, but only for fun. I've decided to focus on just being happy I'm running and worry about speed next year. Send me a PM if you want any details or just to vent!
Can't wait to see everyone!!!

So here I am at work with my stomach flip flopping with anxiety just waiting for this week to be over so this adventure can begin. I am excited yet nervous. I didn't end up getting a 3 miler in yesterday. I had to go to the hospital to visit my grandmother (she is 91 and fell on New Years day and broke her hip) she is pretty delirious from the anesthesia so I am sure she didn't even remember me and my sister being there.
I am trying to get all the last minute things tied up before we leave (we don't leave until Saturday morning but you know how fast time goes and I want to be ready to leave first thing) But I sure as heck can't focus on work - good thing I took a half day on Friday - I am not even sure if I can handle that - I am sure if I am already a bundle of nerves waiting to get out here I can't imagine how I am going to be Friday morning. I wish I was like some of you and getting there Wed or Thurs but I didn't want to start out the new year with too many vaction days taken already. I am going to have 2 extra days after the marathon to "play" in the parks.
Congratulations Claire - :yay: - how exciting planning a wedding!! The talk of planning weddings and Disney made me look at their website last night - I would like to do a vow renewal but that won't be for awhile since I would most likely do that for like our 15 or 20 year anniversary - we just celebrated our 8th.

Hey everybody! So, is everyone ready for WDW this weekend? I was so excited until today...I got really nervous today! Stupid me went and played 3 hockey games and run 8 miles this weekend and now my legs are sore....so much for the taper! I decided I need to rest today, and I will see how they feel tomorrow...I am supposed to do 3 tomorrow and 2 on wednesday but I will play it by ear.
I am almost packed...got all my running gear together just have to work on the rest.
Claire-CONGRATULATIONS!!! Have fun with the wedding planning, it is so much fun. I am in complete wedding planning mode these days, and I love every minute of it! I am impressed that you are going to do it so soon, I had more than a year and I feel swamped sometimes with details!
Jeff--as always, AWESOME pics! I wish I lived in Hawaii so I could do all the cool stuff that you do. Your daughters are so lucky to have a dad that does all this stuff with them!
Tracy--you are the weather Queen!! I know I can just come on here and you will have my daily weather fix...looking good so far, hopefully it doesn't change!
Sorry to everyone else I missed, I am exhausted and need to rest!!
I hope everyone traveling this week has a safe trip! Can't wait to see everyone this weekend!

Hello Everyone!
I have "kind of" started packing.
That means stuff I know I need to take is piling up on the guest bed. LOL!
Really I am a pretty quick packer I just don't want to forget the running stuff. (I won't tell you how many times my workouts out of town have been derailed by the missing jog bra!)
Got a new running skirt in the mail and am going to try it out tomorrow. First impression is that this is much nicer then the Running skirts one I am unhappy with!
I went to the Strength and Strech class at the gym. Boy you can tell it's the first of the year, the parking lot was worse the mall the day after Thanksgiving!
Len, pop that Zicam. I swear by it!
Claire, Congrats!
To everyone I missed, have a good week especially if it's short!

I will put her with you at the start right in the front of the walkers area. I want her to have a buffer. I am starting in the back with Liz and others (I think). That way we cross the start line last. At some point I will pass her right before the finish to get a photo of her crossing the finish line -she doesn't know that yet.
Racey TracyTracy, take your time crossing that line back there will you. Gives us all a bit of extra buffer that way.
You are such a great daughter to do that for your Mom.
Kathy, glad you had a good family holiday in Hawaii. We will miss you in The World this time around. Sounds like a good training plan you've got in mind.

I am feeling pretty tired these past few days - that deep pregnancy "my body is working twice as hard as usual" tiredness - so I may need to bring taking it easy to a new level for the Half! At least I feel like I know my body pretty well, and I trust myself to listen to it. If you see me on the course make sure I'm taking care of myself.

Just got back from a quick jog.
For those of you NOT from the south... it's not the heat, its the HUMIDITY! Seriously, in ATL today with the rain it's probably 100% LOL. I just considered it training for Disney, but Suzanne posted on the weather thread that the humidity is HIGH right now and she's used to it! (Forecast calls for 60% humidity!)Allie's right we have rain up this way in AL and GA. However, in Atlanta we are NOT allowed to whine about rain. We would rather have rain that rationing!!
So drink up boys and girls!
And on a completely unrelated not that 50% of the population won't care about. After trashing one skirt company last week I think I have found a winner. I ordered the Commitment skirt from Skirtgodess.com LOVE IT! It's fit well, stays in place and has GREAT pockets! Wore it on my jog today and "it's going to Disney!" Now if we only got a discount there. I need to order more before they change it on me too LOL!

My daughter can't stand to take a bath at my mom's because she will only let her use about an inch of water, due to her trying to ration her water. Plus she has buckets in the shower to collect the runoff water and she uses that to water her plants.
But Atlantans sure can't drive in the rain either! :scared:

I haven't been on the walking thread in a VERY long time...I have no plans right now for any events but have been back to walking since October. It feels good to be out getting fresh air and getting in the exercise. Thought it would be nice to get back over here to keep focused for those times when the thoughts of I just don't want to do it slip in. It has been raining here for two days though so no outside walking, yesterday was a planned day off but will hit the elliptical today instead of the track.

Now its FLOODING up here near Lanier!! When it rains it pours! They are expecting a temporary 3 foot jump in the lake level. That puts a bit of a dent in the 11 foot deficit.
Big Creek Runs across the main road of my neighborhood and the road is closed because the water is over the top. Its only an inch or so over but the current below is very strong. I feel a little sorry for the folks that built their houses down during the worst of the drought. They have moats this morning.

Well...... I guess if your house floods the "no complaining" rule is lifted!
We need it. My brother is considering turning his "lake house" into a dirt track. (All the docks on his cove at Lake Hartwell are on dry land with water a LONG way away! Wonder how much "extra" he paid for that "Dirt track" property?)

Hey all, I made it to SLC on the red-eye. Full plane, so no seats to lay down across and sleep over the ocean. Don't these people know I have some important running to do, and I need to be rested?
The University of Hawaii men's basketball team were all in the back of the plane sleeping. So the two trips I made to the lavatory, I had to climb over their feet and legs sticking out into the isle.
Another hour, and I'll be on my connection to MCO. Hope to get some sleep on this one.
Going to rustle up some grub.

Hi, Sunny! So happy to see you and THRILLED at the prospect of being at the start of the 2010 WDW 1/2 marathon together. I am taking my apron that you designed to WDW with me this weekend -- "20 Miles is a Long Way to Walk; 26.2 Miles is Life Changing". I think I remembered it precisely.
It is so nice to be hearing from WISHers who may not be with us this weekend in body, but will be with us in spirit. We will miss each and everyone of you and looking forward to the next time you are among WISH teammates!
Howard and I and Jenn and Andrew & our "adopted" daughter, Adrienne, all leave tomorrow morning. I am concerned about Jenn and Ade doing the 1/2 with very little training, but then again, they are 20 years old and probably can pull off all sorts of endurance events that I couldn't at my age -- those college all-nighters of studying have to count for something, right? LOL!
Howard and I will see you all at the WISH meet Friday (with the 3 kids, if we can drag them along). We'll also see you at the start or finish of all 3 races. Travel well, teammates! :cool1:

Thought it would be nice to get back over here to keep focused for those times when the thoughts of I just don't want to do it slip in. It has been raining here for two days though so no outside walking, yesterday was a planned day off but will hit the elliptical today instead of the track.
Also wanted to WISH everyone going down to do the Marathon weekend events safe travels and have lots of fun.:cheer2: :cheer2: Can't wait to hear all the reports next week and see those pictures.
Tammy! Welcome back! How have you been? Way to keep up the walking. Any thoughts of another Disney race in your future?

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb: I had a question about the start of the half. Can spectators be at the start? Any of you that have family and scream teamers with you, are they at the race start at all? Thanks.
Dave, the only family I had with me was Charlie who was participating so I don't have actual experience with this but I THINK they can only go as far as bag check-in. They can't come into the staging area i.e. Port-O-Pot City.

I seem to recall spectators gathered "outside" the corrals and along the course after the start. I'm not sure if they got there by following the runners or came around from the other side.
See you soon,

Thanks...doing much better now that I'm back to walking and losing weight. Life is crazy of course but hanging in there.
I know that I can't do 2010 but I'm thinking that I would love to give it a try again one day...maybe 2011 but we'll have to see how the $$ situation is once next year hits.
How have you been?

Does anyone else feel like they are packing EVERYTHING they own????
I can go to Europe for three weeks in a 22" suitcase. I have a 24" FULL. (I am going from Orlando to California for work next week so SOME of it's work clothing, but most of it's park gear/running gear. I have packed for all situations. I have tights, skirts, long sleeves, short sleeves, cheap blanket, hat, you name it....

My iPod is updating software (of course) and I need to go print out all the boarding passes/other stuff...

UGH!!! I need MAJOR major dust! DD (the one who has been sick with the cold) woke up at 4:30 this morning throwing up! We were gonna leave after we dropped the kids off at school and then my Mom who lives about an hour away was gonna leave work early today and pick them up at the bus stop. I'm sitting here now waiting on her sheets in the wash and wondering what in the world we are going to do now... Who knows if it is a virus or nerves. She gets sick several times a year. Or it could be all the meds she is on for her wheezing??? I just pray no tummy virus! We could leave her with my MIL, but she watches my six month old nephew during the day... I don't know what to do, plus I hate leaving her now! :sad1:
I hope they refund our Backstage Magic tour we had booked for tomorrow morning. It is past the cancellation window and it was not cheap, not cheap at all. :sad2:
Well, I hope everyone has safe travels and unless myself or DH gets sick we should at least make it down there for the race. Hope everyone has a great time!

Shan, Major Pixie Dust! It may very well just be the drugs. I tend to have that type of issue.
Something I ate last night did NOT agree with me and I was up a lot last night but NEVER got sick. I was just in PAIN! This is so unlike me. Let's hope it goes away soon! LOL! (I would have been glad to get sick if it made me feel better) Going to have to FORCE the water today because I know I don't want to drink it with my current stomach. (OK I REALIZE THIS WAS TMI!)
Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed for Shan!
Good luck everyone else on your travels. Not sure when I am leaving. I have a call at 9:30 this morning.... One small issue. I forgot if that was 9:30 Central time or Eastern time. So if the phone doesn't ring around 9:30 I will have to pack up and head to the airport to take the 10:30 call there. It's suppose to last an hour and I can't wait until 11:30 to leave for my 12:30 flight LOL!

Welcome Sherry! You are now part of the WISH team. Please keep posting and let us know about your training and progress. Don't forget to check out the sticky thread at the top of this forum. We are here at the Dolphin. Got a great room on the 12th floor. We can see everything from up here. Expo was crowded but not too crowded. We didn't see any speakers so we were in and out in an hour. Then we went to lunch at ESPN Club and then into Epcot (I needed sunglasses - forgot mine at home!!) Cought a ride on Test Track and then back to the room. Plan on going to see an Off Kilter show at 5:30 and then back to the room to get the rest of everything ready for the morning.
