Well, here's another attempt at a poll. I can't cover every configuration but I thought it might be interesting to get an idea of what type of DVC families are on this board. I've broken out Single and Married in some case but in others please respond to the questions the same whether you are a single parent or a married parent couple.

Also in the majority. It's DW, two DD's (ages 2 1/2 years & 5 months), and me.

We have DH, myself, DS 14 and DD 13. We love going to Disney as a family but (don't tell the kids!) hubby and I are REALLY looking forward to trips for just the 2 of us when the kids are grown up!

Not that it really matters, but having young children is the single largest category, not the majority. Currently, 58% of members in this poll DO NOT have any young children. ;) We'll see where things end up....just a reflection of people who post here, not the entire DVC membership.

added to poll as Young, Teens and Adults

Grandparents who belong and take kids and grandkids. In November we will be 4 generations going for the second time but 1st time as DVC Menbers.

Great Grandparents 80's
Grandparents 50's
Adult Kids 30's
Kids 14, 13, 11, 9, 3

And who says WDW is for Kids, some people just don't understand.

Pat-Rick and Antnee -- You bring up two points I thought about but I think we need multiple polls to try to get the answers. There are folks who regularly or semi-regularly bring along children, related or not, even if they might not have any of their own or only adult children. There's also the difference between married couples who don't anticipate having children and married couples who have purchased in the anticipation of having families to bring along.

I thought we'd start with a "snapshot" of the core family as it stands today and, just for fun, see how the numbers come up. :)

At this point, about 50% of the respondents have young children (got to add up about 4 categories to get this). Very interesting.

is the number of DVC's who have responded and have no children. I believe it shows the type of entertainment WDW provides. It's not just for kids and your poll so far has about 1/3 of those responding as empty nesters. Thinking about my response I voted for Young, Teen and Adult children since I have always ( 4 out of 5 times ) been to WDW with my kids and grandkids. I probably should have voted differently thinking about it now.
We first heard about DCV in February 2001 when we met a retired Banker and his wife from Connecticut during the parade in EPCOT. They really talked it up at the time. They like myself bought in to use #1 and share with family #2.

The next poll should be - " Did you buy DVC for the Kids or for the Kids in You "

I answered Married with no children as my fiance and I are less than 6 months away from the wedding. Our first trip home will be our honey moon in Jan.

We just became members this past Jan while staying on points we rented from these boards.

We are in the 12 & under category, but not for much longer! Oldest DS turns 13 this year, and younger DS turns 11.

I guess we fall into many categories. DS 14, DS 25, DD 31 and grandaughter 18 months. This summer is the first DVC trip with the whole gang!! ( DS says we're taking the granddaughter for an excuse! Like I need an excuse!)

Been away from this board a little while and almost missed one of your polls, Pam!

I think you did a nice job of tossing out a lot of options. Hard to capture every possible permutation.

I'm in the Teen and a Child category, though one's barely a teen and the other almost not a preteen anymore.:)

Not that anyone asked...but ok, I'll tell.
DTD's....that's twin daughters...8
DD that just turned 10.

And for the record...you don't have to wait for them to grow up to go with DH alone....we just did it for the second time and it is a BLAST!!!!!!! They were mad the first time, but are getting used to it now. And besides, with DVC we have been able to go every year with them too!!! So lucky...we are....(Yoda)

I think it's interesting that almost 35% of owners are either
Single, no kids - Married, no kids - or - Married with Grown kids. WDW brings out the child in all of us! :)

I'm in the majority group too b/c DD is 9 but I'd love to know if there are other single parents out there!!

Our girls are now both in college, and we just purchased BCV. DVC is definately for us, not kids. When we have grandkids (some day), we'll probaby add on points, but still take our "adult only" trips.

I'd love to know if there are other single parents

I was going to try and break out single parents but the list of choices got too long! Maybe we can put together a different poll that will bring that out.
