Magic Kingdom Pages Swap
Due March 5
Check In dates
:thumbsup2 January 8 -- verify your groups and PM me with your name, DISname, address, email and phone number (last resort if I can’t contact you by other means). I will pm my info after sign ups close.
+January 22
++February 12th
+++February 26rd .
:car: mailed
:cool1: received
If you miss a check-in, I will PM/email you. If I do not hear from you 48 hours after that, your spots will be angeled. If you are going to be away for a check-in, let me know. For the February 26th check-in, please be specific with your progress, and list the groups you still need to finish and an anticipated mailing date (If you have not mailed already). I want to have a good sense that you will be able to accomplish your groups on time, or if we are going to need angels.
If I am worried that you will not be able to finish by the the deadline, I will contact you to see if we need to angel some, or all of your groups. If at any time, you realize you need to cut down on the number of groups, or need an angel for all your groups PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I know it’s hard to admit when we are in over our heads, and it’s more fun to receive all the pretty pieces, but there will always be more swaps.
Requirements: one 12x12 page

AND

c)1 element (tags, library pocket, quote, altered letter, journal box etc) or several small embellies (die cuts, buttons, flowers etc)
d)there must be a place for journaling visible or hidden.
It is hard to define the page requirements -- it needs to be a complete page. The recipients should only be adding photos and journaling.
If you need any of the elements defined, check out the elements from this thread:
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2046581
THere are lots of sample pages in the following thread, however, the requirements for this swap were option 1 only
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1949530
Packaging for pages:
Packaging for pages: Place all 4 pages in one 2 gallon bag with your name, DISname and group number. Please label the back of your page with your name and DISname.
Please include a return address label -- either a USPS priority mail label that you have addressed, or the little ones you would put on envelope. (This cuts down on errors.)
Postage: Here are the prices for Flat Rate Priority Mail Shipping. Standard box – $10.35, Large - $13.95. You may send to me, by any method you choose, but I would prefer to send to you using flat rate boxes/envelopes. However, if you want me to send by a different method, we can work that out. I won’t require Delivery Confirmation, UNLESS you are sending to me AFTER the swap due date. If you want your items shipped to you with DC, please include the $.65, and a filled out slip. If you are in the both the pages & elements swaps too, I will send everything back in one box, so make sure you send enough to cover postage for both swaps.
DO NOT include clik-it/ship-it postage. I will not be able to use it since it is only good on the day it was printed, and from the location it was printed.
Due Date: This swap is due MARCH 5, 2009. Your package should be in the mail by February 27. I intend to only wait one week for packages that have been delayed by our lovely postal system, before I swap out. If you mail, March 1 or later, you must send Priority and you must include DC so I can verify the shipment and keep tabs on its status. I know emergencies can happen, and those will be handled on a case by case basis.

Please verify your groups. If you have already sent me a pm with your info for the elements swap, DHS swap or if I already have your address, you don't have to send it again.
Prototypes: I didn't require them, mostly because I forgot. If you want to post your pages, you can post them right here in this thread. I will gather all the photos into one place. If you don't a photo before you mail, I'll take the photos before I mail tham back.
Group 1 & 2 -- another oversight on my part -- These spots are meant to be general. That is if your spot is adventureland, your page should not be a Marget Carpets page. DOes that make sense? If anyone wants to drop because of this change, I completely understand. Please let me know as soon as possible if you will be dropping.
Last requirements: I admit they are a little vague. Does anyone have any questions, comments, suggestions on how to make them a little more specific?

I was planning on using the land as a title and making each element refelct a different area of the land- so for Adventureland one mat may have tiki stuff as the embellishment, another having pirate, and then the journal box having a camel or carpet. And maybe a treehouse type thing as the extra embellishment. Is that okay or do you want just general leafy type things for the whole page?

This sounds good.
A topper that says Magic Carpets and carpet & genie lamps and nothing else would not be appropriate.

Question:
You can tell me no I wont get upset.
Would it be possible to do 5x7 with a few smaller pics mats? I have the castle spot and from what I have seen most people get a 5x7 of their family in front of it. So i thought it might be good to do that. If not I can do 4x6's but i just had an idea,
LMK what you think!

I like this idea. One can always add in additional layers if working with a 4x6 photo.
I am going to add this into the option 2 directions.

It is. I have 2 within 20 mns and one across the bridge. (cost $4 to get over it) and each of them carries way different stuff. I found this on mousememories.com
That is very nice looking paper!

Dunno, havent held it yet. :lmao: I am assuming that its regular paper. so i will have to mount it to cardstock.
rlovew
01-08-2009, 04:17 PM
That paper looks amazing. I haven't mounted my regular patterned paper to cardstock when I have made completed pages before. I figured since they were going in albums they would be just fine on their own- I wouldn't mount it in my book.

Thanks.
The paper is from DC Comics. I don't remember where I got it. It had a left & right side. I used one for the background and the other for the mats.
The little guy on top of the mat is a robot. He was just too cute to not use.
The mats are inked with silver & purples and then then have the paper ribbon and diecuts. The box doesn't have anything other than the inking & little star sticker. Do I need to add something more to that one? I was afraid that brads would get caught while trying to slide it.

You have definitely met the requirements -- topper/title, 2 4x6 mats, embellished once, a place to journal, and the 1 robot and 2 rockets meets the 1 element or several small embellies requirment
I think it's perfect the way it is. Sometimes less is way more. :goodvibes
I agree with this. Especially for this page -- more might make it look cluttered

For group 7A. The silhouette is pop dotted and opens up for journaling. Hmmm -- this is either the wrong photo or maybe it is just not showing up -- the centers of the flowers have little rhinestones.

:lmao: How did i know that was coming?? I was just coming. Bear with me my camera is broken. Not sure why. I think i might be buying a new one this week. Anyhow.... I had to scan it in. So the colors are a little different and the stickles really show up. They are a little more translucent. But i love the colors together. Of course it will most likely not say Aloha. Dunno. Thoughts?

I think I am not in this group:sad2: I love the colors! I don't know how you were so steady with the stickles. So how did you do this? Did you use DS and what font? I think once you put the 2nd layer on the topper and either ink or brads maybe, it will be just perfect.

I used SCAL for it. Someone made a hawaiian font and that was part of it. I have some cute flip flop brads that i was thinking. and possibly inking it pink on the outside.
But i love the color scheme.

Hopefully i can find it somewhere else. :sad2:
Who did you order from? That is pretty poor service.

Group 9A -- Tomorrowland Speedway. THere is a tag that pulls out from one of the mats. On the traffic light, I left the top two spots black intentionally, to show a green light. Does that make sense? Or does it just look unfinished? The stop, go and traffic lights are pop dotted so you can slide photos under.

I love all the prototypes that have been posted so far! Everything looks great.
We just got back from a wonderful week in the World, and our day at the MK was made a whole lot more fun because of this swap. I only signed up for the land groups, so I told DH we had to get at least 3 pictures of varying horizontal and vertical orientations from each land in the park because I would have all these pages I had to use. He took that as a personal mission and we had so much fun racing around the park, looking for interesting and appropriate photo-ops! It was like a photo scavenger hunt!

Because Susie, I didnt join in pages only the elements!! And everything is so Awesome! Not that the elements are GREAT too! I just need to get more confidence in swapping. Full pages still kind of scare me.
What site do you use for clip art or where did you get your Country Bear pics at? Im doing that for Characters and have some ideas but need clip art or images if I can find them.
Thanks!

DisneyIsTerrific
02-19-2009, 08:38 AM
Thanks! I used the Dreams Come True cartridge. One of the accessories for Lumiere is a teacup. I used a stencil on them to make the designs. The actual teacups have square-ish swirls, but I only have curly swirls on my stencils so that's what I used.
What's funny is that DH gave me the stencils for my birthday. I hadn't told him what I wanted, he just picked a bunch of scrapping things out and tried to get things he didn't think I'd ever get for myself. He says he's trying to broaden my horizons. Anyway those stencils were exactly what I needed for these cups!

I'm finished!!!! I will be bagging and labelling today and will get them in the mail no later than Wednesday.
Here are my final 4 pages.
Group 2 - Main Street
The trees on each page will have different papers and ways they are embellished. I know this doesn't look much like Main Street, but I couldn't think of anything except plain ol' boring. I've always like the trees on Main Street (even though there seems to be fewer and fewer over time) and the little alcoves with the flower carts so I went with flowery trees.
