Just bring some rain ponchos with you. You can buy them there OR you can get them at the dollar store or Walmart much cheaper. The crowds tend to thin out in the rain because people don't want to get wet.

Just put on a poncho and keep going. In all of our trips it has only rained more than an hour or two once and then it rained for a day and a half. If it is raining really hard do a show, go shopping or get a bite to eat.

ON our last rainy day trip, the wife and son went back to the hotel. MIL and I took boats, the monorail and buses around to check out the resorts (and bars). :)

I would def go to the dollar store and get some ponchos. When it rains it usually doesn't last very long so just keep moving and you might be able to get alot more in.

Just keep swimming, swimming...
Seriously, pack some cheap ponchos & keep moving if you can. If you are near the spot to hit an indoor attraction, do it. (Unless it's Stitch! ;) )

On days with that much rain predicted, we wear shoes that will dry fast if they get wet and put on our ponchos.
Alot of times people leave the parks and then you can see and do alot with less crowds.
No umbrellas please though. It's easy to poke someone in the eye with those and not even realize it. Plus they don't really help a whole lot when the rain is blowing around you.

Poncos all the way!
And shoe bags! (I used small Disney bags that I had and slipped them over my socks, in my shoes. It kept my feet nice and dry)
If you're on a budget buy your ponchos before you go.
Bur if you're not, the Disney ponchos add more magic to your trip, IMO:goodvibes

Love the shoe bags idea for my DD9. She will only wear her tennis shoes and I have to buy extra pairs just before we go to WDW so she'll always have dry feet.
I'll test that trick before we leave to see if she'll go for it. :goodvibes

Definately carry ponchos. I also carry flipflops in my backpack so I don't get my comfy shoes wet and spend the rest of the day walking in wet shoes. There are parts of the parks that will definately flood when a heavy downpour comes! But don't let the rain ruin your day...Keep on going. The crowds will thin out and you will experience less wait times. Have a great time!

We were just at WDW sadly 4 weeks ago. It rain only one day. We were watching the weather that day too. Big thundstorms, so the rides would be closed. So we went to Downtown Disney and shopped it was fun. We just wore our ponchos and kept on trekking. It was fun to shop b/c we stayed at the POP so we didn't have to get our new items all wet b/c they sent them to our hotel.

Thank you all for helping me to see it's going to be ok.
Besides - I just made another decision per my trip to WDW /DCL next week.......& that's to book (while on the Wonder) a 10 night Southern Caribbean DCL cruise for December 2010. :woohoo:

I wore my poncho the one day it rained when we were there & it worked great. I would skip the umbrella.

I always bring a cheap poncho on my trips. I bought it before I went away as they are always cheaper at home. If it's raining in the middle of the day, I take that as an opporunity to have a rest back at the hotel, or perhaps do some shopping! I have gone to the movies at Downtown Disney although I don't do that often. You could take a trip to DisneyQuest since that is indoors and it was a blast when I was there. I know some people dont' care and just keep on with their day but some rides do close during rain so I try to find other things to do.

Definitely don't do umbrellas. For a number of reasons.
The main one being they render themselves pointless. Orlando rain has a funny way of blowing in every direction possible. I've watched people battle with umbrellas and get more wet then I do wearing a poncho. Infact, we stay quite dry if we wear our ponchos.
Secondly, the whole poking-other-people is a real downer.

we usually keep going, too, but in a bad storm, we love to head over to disneyquest.:cheer2:

we put on ponchos and dart in and out of the different shops. Usually the rain doesn't last long there. On one trip, it rained all day one of the days that we were there. We used that day to rest and relax and hang out at our resort.

We were at WDW in October 2007, with tropical storm Noel. It rained like nothing I have ever seen. We bought ponchos, looked at everyone else leaving, and headed back into the park. We had the place to ourselves! As soon as it stopped raining, everything was back to "normal", they were even using big squegee things on the walkways! All the balloon vendors and pin carts, snack carts, everything came back out.
You'll be fine whatever the weather.
You can't change the weather, but you can change your attitude! We even went into the pool in the rain!
It's funny, but the parts of the trip I remember best were in the rain, because it really did seem like we were the only ones there and everyone was extra friendly!

The only other thing to add is for little kids....
- try on the poncho before the trip to get them used to it
- bring scissors to trim the ponchos if they are too long
My 2 boys HATED their ponchos. I bought the disney ponchos, which was too long for DS3, had to trim the bottom so he wouldn't trip on it. DS6 kept ripping off his poncho, he didn't like the rubbery feel, and didn't like putting it back on after taking it off when we ate. Luckily I had their kiddie umbrellas and they used their umbrellas instead and were SO much happier.
Next time, I will find the more fitted lightweight jacket style ponchos instead of the Vshaped generic poncho.

A rainsuit that is breathable is really nice in cooler weather so your legs stay dry. Plus the jacket can serve as rain protection or for use indoors if the air conditioning is too cool. I throw an old hand towel in my back pack to dry seats on rides and at Fantasmic after it clears up. Definitely keep your feet dry!

Take and wear the rain gear. You can walk right onto almost any ride. That is when the shops and resturants get busy. We just carried on like we were and the rain stopped really quick, too.

It has rained every trip of ours. I hate rain at WDW. I'm praying for a rain free Feb trip!!
Anyway, a word of advice if it hasn't been shared yet....if you can, purchase ponchos somewhere other than WDW before you come to the parks (most all Walgreens in Florida or around Orlando carry them) We bought ours the first time at WDW when we got caught in the rain without them and they were very pricey.
Getting them before hitting the parks will save you some money!

One day during our last trip it started raining and i was a little bored so i went to mk by myself and walked onto all of the outdoor rides until some of them closed due to lightning. all i did was wear a poncho n i walked on most of the rides like splash mountain and thunder mountain. i would suggest going to animal kingdom when it rains because it has the most outdoor attractions and the animals like to be out in the rain.

My advice for a rainy day. Ride Splash Mountain first, then you won't care about getting wet.

Just a tip on how to dry out sneakers......Stuff em with crumbled newspaper. I did this with DH's sneaks on our last trip (I wore Crocs). If the shoes are really wet, you need to replace the paper, but they were completely dry in 24 hours. Good thing he listened to me about the second pair of shoes.

When we were there in June it poured one day while we were as MK so we took cover in Poo's house. Not much room but we were dry.:cool1:

I read a tip recently about attaching some binder clips to your dollar-store ponchos ahead of time, so you can clip various places for fit and comfort -- sounded like a great idea; going to try it for our next trip.

Definitley get ponchos before you go.
Not only do you pay less, but you can get better quality ones.
We've been using these (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00022K3QM?ie=UTF8&tag=data09b-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00022K3QM), and we've reused them year after year because they were such good quality.

What do you think about rain in Feb? A lot or little?
Also what rides close when it is raining and how hard does it have to be raining before they will close anything?

At the risk of sounding completely nerdy, I have a rainsuit. And I've rocked it at WDW. It's a hooded zip up jacket and pull-on pants. It has worked GREAT. Although I don't think mine is breathable. That's my one complaint when I have it on, is that it gets hot since it's worn over my already layered clothes.
What's the going rate for the clear ponchos at the parks now?

Just plan to control all you can.. These natural phenomenon can not be controlled. Rain will come. DO not plan your trip during rain..

I got to the point where I was looking forward to the rain on our trip last summer. It was a welcome break from the heat and humidity. I'm not one to wear a poncho (much too cool for that!), but I'm not gonna let it stop me either. What's a little water? Just be wary of white clothing...
