For those of you who watched on TV(like me)..or went to bed early..thought you might enjoy a few photos from Times Square courtesy of my son, who worked a detail that included escorting the celebs and their security.

That's neat! I enjoyed watching the ball drop on TV...at 11pm Central Time. I was in bed by 11:05. Would be quite an experience though to actually be there once.

I don't know that I'd want to really be there. Those people were FREEZING...and they were there for hours and hours. Let's just say that they don't always use the bathroom facilities. The poor guys that have to clean up...they really earn their pay.

Those people were FREEZING:

Try 16 degrees with a 20 knot wind coming off the lake...WOO HOO! We have a system tho, stay in the hot tub at the resort until 11pm, 15 minute drive to Port Clinton from Sandusky, see the fish drop then back to the resort and the hot tub to thaw out!!:thumbsup2

My niece is so mad at her cousin:mad: ...he didn't get her an autograph from the Jonas Bros.:sad2: He also had no freakin' clue who they were! He did get a Happy New Year handshake and a thank you from Mayor Bloomberg though! Not bad for a nights work in Times Square on New Years Eve.

We had similar temps that night..but not that kind of wind, thank goodness.
Most of that crowd starts to gather a good eight to ten hours earlier in the day. I don't know how they stay out in the cold that long. (well some of them ...okay:rolleyes1 ..alot of them bring beverages, that have them feeling NO PAIN! ) He said it was a smaller than usual crowd because of the cold. Some people who were originally there early just couldn't deal with it for hours on end, and wound up leaving prior to midnight.

Lots of bottles of urine..seriously..people "relieve" themselves and leave the bottles in the street. Then sanitation winds up cleaning them up..and inadvertantly runs some of them over....spraying anything (or anyone) in their way...:scared:

Ahhh...yes..the sights..and "smells" of NYC!:rolleyes1

You still sure you want to visit Amanda:rotfl:

Just don't visit New Years Eve!

Reminds me of the time we went to New Orleans, arrived the day after Mardi Gras ended, it smelled of booze and urine.

I guess people are the same all over. Only the regional accents change..apparently the "aroma" is the same! :lmao:
