It appears WDW wok up and realized a lot of people aren't interested in the packages and would like to book room only reservations. So, www.disneyworld.com now has a room reservations option under Reservations and Tickets. We can now book on-line, but of course you can't get discounts through there. Just thought everyone would like to know.

Thanks for the post! The room-only ressies have been on Disney.com for about a month or so. They wised up and realize lots of people don't want packages.

Actually you can get the summer saver room only discount online. Click on the vacation specials banner on the resort page, then click on the room only reservation link at the bottom. This will give you the summer rates. :D

You also cannot book a room without your own credit card. I am able to use our company credit card to book and hold rooms then send them a check before arrival. When I tried to book CSR for myself and daughters, I did just that and my confirmation printed out my bosses name! Then of course it said in fine print that this reservation is only for the people listed on the sheet. So then I had to call and cancel. I had booked CSR for $104.34 with the summer saver rate. When I cancelled and explained my situation to them, all they could offer me was $154 a night so I told them forget it. Boy, nobody wants cash anymore!:(

Hey,

You can use Expedia.com because they give the same rates as Disney.com or sometimes better. I believe they signed some sort of agreement with the Disney Company where they have packages on their site also.

I remember in 1998, they offered this feature online, for booking room only. I would reserve a room, then receive a letter in the mail stating that I needed to mail in my deposit by such and such a date.
When I went to their site a year later, that feature was gone, and only the packages were available. Even though we already have our plans made for this year, I am glad that they brought that back. So much nicer than waiting on hold forever - and paying for that call!! ;)
