Your task, should you choose to accept it, organize your space. Get all those purchase out of the bags, get all those piles off the floor. Find out what you have 4 of, what you have none of. And create a better system, so that you are more motivated to do what you want to do...SCRAP!
Starting on the first day of the month, I will highlight seven tasks to focus your attention to. Every 7 days, I will highlight a new set of tasks. Hopefully, by breaking it down into smaller, more manageable tasks, we can remain motivated and by the middle-end of February we will have clean and organized scrap spaces. Many of these should only take 15 minutes or less to gather and find a home for.

If there is something you have that is not on my list, let me know and I will add it. I am making this up as I go along, so input is appreciated.
Each day, I will post what I have done to organize my items, and a picture. Hopefully, others will share what works for them, and we will get ideas for what hasn't been working for us. I am working on getting some smileys and a signature clippie, so we can mark our progress. Feel free to work at your own pace. So if you need to do a couple things on one day, and a couple days where nothing gets done, feel free.
Here are a couple of clippies you can add to your signature if you are participating. I will make a couple more when we finish the challenge, to show you completed it.

Day 1 - Small Bottles: Stickles, Alcohol Inks, Flock
I slept in, so getting a bit of a late start on Day 1. Hopefully, this shouldn't take too long though.
I originally had, one spot for my Stickles, a different spot for my alcohol inks, and a third spot for my Flock. But when I needed them, I couldn't remember which I had put where. So now all my little bottles are in the same place.
Day after Thanksgiving, I purchased my first couple of Jetmax storage cubes from Michaels. One of them has a drawer, with dividers. They are perfect for storing these small items.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/smallbottlestorage.jpg
However, don't think you need to run out and buy all new storage stuff just to get your room clean. When I first started, I had my Stickles in this little box, which originally was for my DH's collectible card game.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/box.jpg
After the Holiday's you may have all sorts of boxes lying around. Repurpose them, to use to collect and store items until you can find a "prettier" solution. But in the short term, they will all be together in one space.

I did day 1- I had a little bag with divided comparments that I didn't have anything specific in so I used it for these items and my glues that go with them as well as my embossing paste. My embossing powders and glitter sprays are still in the container I keep them in. I am pretty good about getting them back (you didn't have a day for embossing supplies).

The flock & embossing powders are on the bottom shelf along with the heat gun & tray & Versamark pads & refills.
The top shelf has two containers of ink - one opened and one still new - and a little container on top of that with all my Stickles.
These were all over the room. It's nice to have them in one place.

I really want to do this! Thanks so much. We are leaving for Bday dinner but I'm going to work on this when we return. I am taking pictures along the way and hope to learn to post them soon! I have a beautiful space and I am embarrassed that it is such a mess. Even my kids have commented on it! I am a neat freak, but feel way overwhelmed at this task. This will be so helpful!
I love seeing the storage ideas!

Great Job everyone! :woohoo:
Yep, I forgot about embossing powders. DMIL stamps and has a lot of embossing powders. I don't want to step on her toes, and make our paper crafting a competition, so that is one thing that I have purposefully never bought.
I will add embossing supplies with the Inks, but if you want to to it today, or any other day, that is fine too. Order doesn't matter as much as making your space inviting and productive.

Luckily this is one I had already taken care of. I have this little plastic 3 drawer thing on my desk that holds my alcohol inks. Stickles live in my crop bag (luckily I don't have too many right now so they easily fit in two pockets - if I buy more I will have to reevaluate.) And no flock for me.

This one's taken care of for me, too! I keep my Stickles (original, designer & Distressed) in this altered alcohol ink tin.

I have a tin for the alcohol inks, too, but haven't decorated it yet.
May have to wait for the new alcohol ink colors to do so :rolleyes1

Great way to learn new things too like.......WHAT THE HECK ARE STICKLES AND HOW WOULD YOU USE THEM?? :lmao: :confused3

Stickles are glitter glue. They come in dozens of colors. I use them to make letters and snowflakes sparkly, or edge cardstock for emphasis. When I made my cards for my Grandma, I used them to edge butterflies, and the frosting part of cupcakes.
http://www.rangerink.com/products/prod_decorativeglue_stickles.htm
They cost about $2 a bottle. I started out with the frosted lace, and metallics like gold & silver. Now I have a bunch, and NEED more. :lmao: I get mine at Archivers and LSS. You can't really find them in the big box stores like Michaels, but Hobby Lobby stocks a couple of 3 packs (in the aisle with the stamp stuff and flock).

Alcohol Inks are used to color metal and acrylic or anything else that normal ink would wipe off of. But most of us have them to dye Skittles. Which will require another explanation. Early last year, someone on the Cricut boards, I think, found at Michaels these little half round pieces of plastic. They were supposed to be used to fill the bottom of a vase, or candle or something. They were called "Decorative Accents." Since they are about the size of the candy Skittles, and you can dye them in a rainbow of colors, thus they were dubbed Skittles. And they spread like wildfire. You can use these as centers of flowers, or just a different type of embellishment or they look pretty sitting on a shelf in a spice jar :lmao: .

On to Day 2: Cricut Cartridges & Supplies
I figure most of you probably are already doing well in this category too. AWM, is finished with this one already, I know. Although, maybe you have carts and books scattered from Christmas projects. I wanted to put a couple of easy things at the beginning, in case someone wasn't able to get started on Day 1. A few easy things, and everyone joining late should be able to catch up. So come on in!
My cartridge storage was pretty simple at the beginning. I started with one photo storage box. Then I got more cartridges, and got another box. With the new cartridges from the Michaels sale over Thansksgiving, I am now up to 4 photo boxes. I have one for Alphas, one for Shapes, one for Disney, and one for the Classmates (and the extra Disney since that box is now full!). My extra blades are stored in my Alpha box.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/cricutboxes.jpg
It looks nice, I know where everything is, but when it comes time to work on a project, it can be a pain, pulling out all the carts/books/keypads and putting them away. When I make my cards I could end up using 10 carts at the same time! I saw a recommendation on the Cricut board to use Snapware containers. So I took all the stuff out of the boxes, and they are stored in the photo storage boxes like before. But I don't get in and out of them. Now all the carts are stored in a Snapware container. This one, came in a set that I got at Costco back in April. I would like to find one that will fit all the books/keypads, but for now all of those are in another photo storage box. They are also sorted by: Alpha, Shapes, Disney, Classmates. I keep the box with the books/keypads and the Snapware container on the window seat next to my Cricut. They are very easy to grab when I need multiple carts while working on one project, or to take into the living room when I work in there.

Also, as part of today's organization, I gathered all of my old mats. I wiped them all down, and re-stickied them using the biggest Zig Pen. Don't forget to find all the mats & blades you've been purchasing with JoAnn's coupons and get them all in the same place, so you know how many you have.

Great tip about using the biggest zig pen to make the mats sticky again. What do you clean yours w/ ahead of before?
I use baby wipes to clean my cricut mats though I never reglue them. Once the mat has lost its sticky, I recycle and cut it up to make a small album cover.
All my cartridges are in order! I store my in black wire CD cases. I have three and all sit on the table behind my cricut machine. Makes it easy for my friends to find when they come over to the house when I am not home to borrow one.:goodvibes

Too easy on me to start - again already done.
When I bought my big bug, I needed a place to put it so I bought a cart designed to hold a printer. Luckily, it had shelves so that also solved my cartridge storage problem:
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o248/NewEnglandEeyore/IMG_7112.jpg
Being an anal retentive scrapper, they are organized fonts first, then classmates, then Disney, then shapes, and within those categories they are alphabetical. Right now I only have one solutions cart so it's hanging loose right now - I may eventually buy a box for it since I like to keep them like this.
The space behind the cartridges is kind of dead space, so I have my baby bug and my sizzix stored there since I hardly ever use them.
Extra blades and mats also have a designated home.

Another one accomplished -on the white wall shelf, my cart boxes are all arranged much like Suzanne's - categories together. Makes it so much easier to get them. So far, so good, - but when you get to the paper items - then I'm in trouble!!!

I got mine together. I don't have many carts so they all fit into one basket that also holds my replacement blades, deep cutting blade and housing, and cricut colors. I also cleaned and resticked my mats. I only use new mats with the cricut but I reuse those mats to cut with my craftrobo pro after they need to be resticked. I just spray them with Krylon though.

Ok, I'm late joining in, but my Stickles are already organized on a shelf! And my cartridges are organized like NEE's. By font, shape, Disney, etc. and alphabetical within those categories. Of course with the 3 new ones I got for Christmas I no longer have room on my shelf for any new. :scared:

Great tip about using the biggest zig pen to make the mats sticky again. What do you clean yours w/ ahead of before?
I wipe them down with baby wipes. Only at this point, my container is dried out, so I rewet them with water first. I tried to just wipe them down, but it never seemed to be enough to hold the Bazzill paper, although it seemed to work fine for patterned paper and thinner cardstock. The zig pen really works though...a little too well for those thinner papers at times.
So far, so good, - but when you get to the paper items - then I'm in trouble!!!
That's why I broke the paper task up to over several days, plus I will be gone 10 days so even if you only work on the paper for 15 minutes at a time, you should be able to get through it all before we move to the next task. Baby steps. :goodvibes

Ok I'm in...
I am a bonified neat freak w/ just about everything. When my friends and I have overnight crops, they always tease me how neat my table is and such.
But even a neat freak needs a little motivation to deal w/ some of my problem areas...
scrap paper
idea files
magazines
keeping files for the kids albums
my basket of misc supplies...
and I'm sure there is more...
anyways for Day 1) and Day 2) I don't really have those items...so check and check. :thumbsup2
But I did get a mini die cut machine and several dies for Christmas. I haven't used it yet, but am proud of myself that I found an empty bin to put all the dies in!
thanks OP! and everyone for helping to keep us organized so we can keeping scrapping!

Done (without doing anything AGAIN!). I only own 11 cartridges and 3 of them are still in the blisterpack. I keep them in a small cardboard two drawer "thingie". My few extra blades and Cricut pens also fit in the drawers. I keep my carts in their original boxes... I find it much easier.
If/when I own another cart or two I will have to find a new solution. My Cricut sits on a rolling kitchen type cart. There are mesh baskets underneath but they currently are used for something else. When I need more cartridge room I will do some rearranging and put the cartridges in those mesh baskets............P

So I love this idea but I will have to be on a late start catch up kind of timeling....got our puppy today and after only a few hours at home I remember how much work (and fun) a puppy is :) And our older dog is playing 'hey you I'm in charge' just to keep it interesting.
But for organizing - the good news is that DH reminded me we have a cubible like desk that isn't being used and I can put it in my scrap room (which looks like Hope's picture at the beginning and then has shelves of other crap all around to boot unrelated to scrapping!)

Day 3: Stamps
I'm guessing some of you will have bunches. Unfortunately, I won't be of much help for ideas. I only have a 12x12 drawer full. I had previously had an 8x11 drawer, but I have unwittingly collected a bunch of the $1 spot clear stamps and ran out of room, so I had to move everything to a larger drawer. My MIL has one of those 7-drawer rolling Iris units. Each drawer is organized by theme.

Okay, Finally off work long enough to make a dent here. Fortunately, I'm one of those simple scrappers too, so item 1 was virtually complete before I even thought about organization :thumbsup2 .
As for item 2, I only have 5 or 6 cartridges yet, so they sit neatly on my work area desk, with my machine sitting where a monitor might go. And with stamps, again I only have a few of those. Somehow, I haven't familiarized myself with stamping much yet. So those are in a drawer in my desk.
Great advice about cleaning the mat everyone. I was starting to wonder what I was going to do about that.
Imagine DH's surprise when I come home from the grocery store with baby wipes! :rotfl2: Our kids are 12 and 15!!!

Well.... I have three 12 x 12 drawers full of stamps and stamp pads (most of which I rarely use!). They are neat and fairly organized (all of the alphabets are together, seasonal together, etc). It is not so much a matter of organizing, but purging. I am not home today, but next week I will take a peek in my drawers and pull out at least 10 stamps. I usually give my purged supplies to my nieces, but I won't see them again until Easter, so I will bring the purged stamps to school. Elementary teachers can always use things like that!.......P

I tried to break it up into small enough chunks so that even on those days when you are busy, maybe you can spend 5-10 minutes cleaning up those things that are 90% in order already, or you just don't have enough of them to spend more than 5 minutes cleaning up. If on a day you are really busy, and we are tacking a more involved project like paper, you can save that for a less busy day and tackle something quick and easy instead.
Great job for everyone who has stepped up to participate. I think Monday will start to get interesting, with everyone getting back into the normal work/school grind, instead of holiday time. But if we can all commit 5, 10, or 15 minutes a day, I think we can all get to a clean, and organized space. It's when you know you are looking at an all day job, and no guarantee you will finish with that much time, that it's hard to get in the mood...and where to begin. Hopefully, this challenge will get everyone over those humps.
Question for everyone. What do you think your biggest problem areas are? I'm guessing paper for just about everyone, stickers are bad for me. I want to see if we will need to break up some things into even smaller chunks (I am thinking of breaking up the other embellishments into even smaller chunks), or add additional catchup days into the schedule. I'm trying to work ahead so I can get everything photographed, and ideas for my posts...I worked on eyelets & brads last night and those took most of an evening because I completely reorganized.

I think the problem with cutting and pasting Buffy's links, is that the DISboard software truncates the URL and sticks a ... in the middle somewhere. Then when you try to do the image, it says it's broken because it isn't complete.
So click on the link, and then copy the URL from the new page.

Embellishments, maybe Divide Disney, holidays and seasons, etc.
We could turn it into a 60 day challenge trough the end of February.
How about some extra credit for those caught up, pre kitting coordinating elements and/or papers.

:woohoo: Way to go Buffy! You are even a day ahead!
Who makes your new spinny thing?
And a possible storage enabler. I went to my Tuesday Morning yesterday and they had a bunch of Cropper Hopper Paper Holders for 8x8 paper for $5. When I saw them, I thought, "Oooh, I should get some." But I remembered my spending ban, and I couldn't come up with a use for them, so I left them. Then I was looking at the picture in my first post, and saw the stack of 8x8 Bazzill that I had forgotten I owned. Those paper packs have been a thorn in my organizing ever since I bought them. Drawers were always too big, and I didn't know what else to stick in a drawer with them. So they got shoved under the small table. So I went back over today and picked up 2.

I wonder if it is part of the Jetmax stuff then. I know they had a spinny thingy. I bought 2 Jetmax cubes during the Thanksgiving sale. I love them, I'd get more, but then I think about all the other storage stuff I have, like the Sterelite drawers and photo boxes, and I would feel guilty about buying more. So that is part of why I am doing this challenge. By completely going through everything, and finding a good, and useful home, by the end I should see what I need to still find a "pretty" or more functional storage solution for, and I can determine which pieces I need to buy when they go on sale again.

Since I bought my paper racks I have been very good about solid paper. I break up all the packs I buy and put it on the shelves for each color. I had my patterned paper organzied on the shelves until I moved and then it all just got stuck in there. At the same time i know it is just a matter of sorting it out again and putting it in some kind of order and it will be under control.
My actually messiest thing are emebllishments I don't put away when I finish working for a time period and my stickers. I haven't found a good way to sort and store them where they are convient to use and still put away.I am still finding places for some things so those are the ones I have the hardest time with. I also think that durring all this I want to make a list of stamps, dies, and embossing folders, stencils, ect that i have so I can reference them when I am looking for something. My craftrobo files are in great categories and easy to look for on the computer and if I do the same with those I know I would look at the database.

I'm a pretty organized person - I abhor disorganization - and so didn't think I would "officially" join this challenge, but have still enjoyed reading the thread. Well, you all have given me inspiration - this morning I spent a few hours reorganizing things and making sure that nothing was misplaced. So I am here now, and will be checking in everyday. :)
For Day 1 - I already had all my Stickles in small trays, which hold 18 bottles each. I need to buy another tray (when they are 99 cents again at J's) for the sets of Distress and Glitz Stickles I recently bought. But I went through and reorganized to make sure they are in color-spectrum order again. (Can you say OCD?!?)
For Day 2 - When my mom was last visiting, she didn't like my organization of stacking the Cricut boxes on the floor in front of the machine. So she bought me a big Rubbermade under bed storage container which fits the boxes perfectly. So I have been using that - although Santa brought me 6 new carts, which don't fit in the container now. So maybe next time mom comes for a visit and sees the new boxes on the floor, she will take organization-pity on me and get me another container. :)
For Day 3 - I have two boxes which contain my stamps - one for acrylics and one for wood-mounted ones. I just don't have a place for all my ink pads yet. Right now, they are piled (neatly) in front of the stamp boxes.
I do have a question about how everyone stores their paper scraps. My mother bought my one of those 12x12 3-drawer containers for my scraps, and it looks neat, but even with 3-drawers, I can't seem to make it useful - too much paper. So if you can add a day on storing paper scraps, that would be great - I don't think I saw it on your list.
Thanks!

Paper scraps are currently Day 34, although if I add more things it may slide down further. I wanted to stick it near the end, because I see it as being one of those places where people just throw up their hands, and then since they missed a day of the challenge, then throw in the towel altogether. At the end, everyone will be "so close" to finishing, they will have to tackle those scraps.
For my scraps, I bought a big box of page protectors, and then I have a page protector for each color or patterned paper. If the Patterned paper is from a line, instead of just a random sheet, I keep multiple patterns in the same page page protector. I started out putting the pages in binders, but I quickly ran out of binder space, so I also have two old Priority Mail boxes full of page protectors.
My scraps are another reason I need to stop swapping, and start scrapping. Each swap group seems to generate 2-3 page protectors of scraps. And because of making mats, I can't complete a swap just with scraps. But making pages I can see many uses for my scraps, and so I need to thin the scraps out. I used all scraps for when I made my Grandma's cards and it felt great!

I'm working the weekend so I'll have to play catch up on Tuesday. I have all my stamps in rubbermaid shoebox type containers in the closet, but I'd like to weed them out and get rid of the ones I don't want anymore. That is true in general - my LSS is having a yard sale at the end of the month and I want to unload a ton of stuff.
As far as what will be my biggest challenge beside paper? Brads, eyelets, buttons and other small embellishements. They are put away right now, but they are not organized. Sitting down and making some kind of order will definitely take more than a day. That is always the thing that I put off until last when I do organize my room because it's so daunting so it never gets done. That and the 2 or 3 boxes of "stuff" that has no other home and stumps me every time.

Stamps are almost done. We had company today so I didnt get it all done.
However my CM consultant is having a scrapping swap meet and I am getting rid of alot of stamps. I just dont use them. So there's no point in keeping them.
Ive saved a few sets that I do use.
I have an odd question and dont know where else to post this.
When I start a swap or a section of a trip, say DHS and dinner at CRT, I gather everything up that I will be working with and then when Im finished I still keep all of the "leftovers" in the same bag. Does anyone else do this?
I think this may be a form of "Kitting"? But maybe not. I have found that I have gone back to that particular bag when Ive needed something.
I have alot of bags and was also wondering what would be the best way to store them. I was thinking of just getting one of those Rubbermaid tubs but would something else work better?
Thank you. BTW, thanks for posting pics. Getting some good ideas.

Day 4: Chalks, Inks & Embossing Powders/Supplies
Today was pretty much the same as yesterday for me. I had most of my inks in an 8x11 drawer, shared with glue dots. But day after Thanksgiving Archiver's had packages of 2 inks for $2, so I outgrew the space. I moved the inks to the drawer above my stamps. Inside the drawer, are two small tins. I repurposed these from my DH's game collection as well. Inside them, are my small inks, the ones that are about 1"x1". After, I took the picture, I found my single thing of chalks, and put them in the same drawer.
I also Googled dried out ink pads, and found out that Ranger makes something called "Perfect Ink Refresher" that will bring dried out ink pads back to life. I might have to check that out, since I have a couple that seem to be on their last legs.

Paper scraps are currently Day 34, although if I add more things it may slide down further.

Thanks! I guess I didn't look all the way down. If you have your scraps in a binder or a box, do you actually remember what you have? Because you can't see them outright - like if you use the Cropper Hopper for your paper. That's my concern - that I don't know what scraps I have unless I go get them out. And then, why bother? It's just easier to get fresh paper.
Many of us must have scrap paper from these swaps that are not getting used. Maybe we can increase the number of swaps that use scraps - like just general Surprise Swaps - not just Disney ones - that way we can use all our scraps. I have LOTS of paper that isn't really Disney-ish enough for a swap, so I just store it for now.
:rotfl2: I sent all my scraps to Mickster. :rotfl2:

Swaps should be stored in your scrapbook silly! :rotfl2: Nah, just kidding, I store mine in protective sleeves in binders - which I am running out of shelf space with all the binders, so I still have some in the boxes they were sent in. So I hear yah!
When I have moved the swaps from the bags to the protective sleeves in the binders, I organized the bags into the various sizes and then put them neatly all into one of the flat rate mailing boxes. I have the box on the shelf with my binders. And I'm really good about reusing the bags. I haven't had to buy more bags for all the swaps I've been in lately because I reuse what I have. That's a good reason to continue in swaps - so I can use what bags I have and get more back!!! :lmao:

Day 5: Collect Paper
Now we are getting into it. Paper. I actually have a good system, but it can be a PITA to get everything put away, regardless. I don't think I need to put the one bag of 10 sheets away, I'll save it until I have more. Next thing, I know, I have 5 bags from purchases, I've dug a bunch out for swaps, and then it's too much for me to want to deal with.
First thing we need to do, is just get all the paper in one spot. New paper that is still in bags, paper you might have pulled out for a project and didn't use, paper you might have sorted in the past, but the system didn't work for you. Find a box or basket or a table somewhere where you can get it all in one place.
If you have a paper organizational system that works, you can leave everything already sorted where it is, and just pull together all the paper that isn't where it should be.
Paper was the primary thing that exploded everywhere in the pics I posted in the original post. So just collecting all the paper made a big dent in the appearance of my room. I got 3 containers to work with.
1. Paper Scraps. I put these all in an Iris box, where they are at least neat until we get to them, near the end of the organizational challenge.
2. Single sheets. These are primarily recent purchases, or paper that had been pulled out, but not used when I was working on Christmas presents. I also put these in an Iris box.
3. I also had a bunch of paper that never got sorted when I originally sorted my paper because I ran out of Cropper Hoppers. I had 3 project keepers from the days when all my paper fit in a small space. I have some old value pack paper from the days before I used primarily Bazzill (but they still work well for Cricut paper piecings), and I have a bunch of paper packs of like 25 sheets that I got at Big Lots. All of these went into a document box.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/collectpaper.jpg
On Thursday, we will begin the process of sorting the paper. While you are gathering, start thinking about how you might want to sort. I sort my cardstock: Pink, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Brown, Gray, Black & White. Patterned Paper is the one that always trips people up. I scrap mostly by theme, so that is how I have the majority of my PP sorted: Disney, Christmas, Halloween, Other Holiday, Cruise/Travel, Zoo etc. That takes care of about 80% of my paper. I also have a few "favorite" manufacturers that I buy many pieces of one line, so I keep these together, sorted by manufacturer: Basic Grey, Imaginisce, American Crafts and SEI, I think are the only ones I have sorted out. The last 10% I have sorted by pattern: Flowers, Striped, Dots, and then I have a very small section that is a for anything left. Some people prefer to sort entirely by manufacturer, or by the primary color in the paper. I figure the sort, is going to take many days, so that's why I set it up to start when I go on my trip, so that you will have over a week to try and get through it all. Sorting would also be a good time to purge anything that you don't think you'll use.
Hopefully, collecting all your paper will make as much of a difference in your space as it did mine.

So, I've been working a couple of days ahead, so I could make sure I was ready to make my daily posts. Yesterday, I accidentally stumbled across a solution to my loose ribbon/loose fiber storage problem. You know, all the pieces you get from embellishment swaps. I had been putting them in ziplocs, and the ziplocs multiplied, until I couldn't keep track of what I had.
Well, yesterday I emptied my 8x8 Bazzill paper packs into my new Cropper Hoppers that I got from Tuesday Morning. I went to throw all the plastic bags away, when inspiration struck. I ended up sorting all those pieces by color, and using the baggies as storage! Then today, I unwrapped the 12x12 Disney Parks kits I've gotten over the last couple of trips to put in their home, and realized that those bags were even better for some colors because they were bigger. So now, not only can I see exactly what I have, if I need a green ribbon/fiber to finish a page, I only have to dig through the green baggie, instead of dumping everything out and hoping I see the thing that will look best. When we get to the ribbon/fiber sorting, I'll post a picture. But I thought I would share now, since it was paper packaging that provided me with the inspiration.

I collected all my paper. I went ahead and sorted my loose solid cardstock and paper into my solid paper rack. I had kept it fairly neat all along so this was really just putting away things I had pulled out to use or that I had bought and not yet put away.
I collected my scraps in 2 places- scraps that have been cut down and need to be filed. I file all my scraps in file folders in a file cabinet I wasn't using. I file them by color choosing the main color in patterns. The second group of scraps are those that I still need to cut. I don't file the scraps away (my scraps are primarily from use with the craftrobo and cricut) until I cut them down to square or circle pieces- I don't leave all the little cutout areas on them,- they are kept clean to be used as they are or cut down as needed. Anyway those that I need to cut down I put into an iris box. I will be terying to cut them down and move them into the tote by the time we get to organizing scraps in a month.
The patterned cardstock is a mess and I need to reorganize my stack for it. I just put the ones not in the stack in a tote today but when I go to do this all of it needs to come out of the stack and be resorted by category. I do mine like Hope- by holidays, Disney, school, and then by pattern in SEI stuff (main manufacturer I buy) and other types of patterns.

My paper is good.
Except for what I have out now to use for a swap.
My DH made me these wooden units to hold my paper.

I have one more now. They are split according to color, color patter and then by holidays/seasons.
LOL, they are also now filled to the gills. There isn't much room in there now.

Day 6: Adhesives
Now that the paper is now in one place, lets reward ourselves by having an easy day. Adhesives. I was surprised when I was cleaning out things to find out my adhesives were in about 5 places. Xyron refills in one place, photo stickers is 2 different places, Zig Pens in 3 different places, all opened :confused3. I also wanted to find a place to stick my ATG gun when I am cutting, and not have to move it 5 million times, because it is always in the way.
My solution was the large shelf from my one Jetmax cube. The extra Xyron refills, and my ATG refills are in the back. Glue Dots, photo stickers in front of that, and my ATG and zig pens in the front. Now that I know I have like 3 open photo stickers, 3 glue sticks, and I think 5 opened Zig pens, I can use up some, and have a little bit more space in there.

ETA: So I went to edit the first post, after posting, and realized that today was actually supposed to be Sizzix day. Oh well, :rotfl2: those two are now switched, since it was Adhesives I had the photo for. There is a wee bit of a mess in front of my Sizzix drawer at the moment. But I figured I should mention the switch, in case someone was working ahead and got a little confused.

Trying to get caught up here. I last posted on "Stamp" organizing day, but I wasn't home and said I would purge some when I was home. Well... I purged my 10-ish on Sunday night. Felt like CRAP yesterday when I got home from school but fortunately all of my paper is fairly organized, so I didn't have much to do.
I keep my solid cardstock in Priority Mail boxes on top of a 4 drawer unit right next to my table (organized ROYGBIV). Two of the drawers in that unit are for scraps... solid near the top and patterned scraps nearer the bottom.
I keep patterned paper in a few 12 x 12 drawer units... some organized by type (mostly the stuff bought single-y) and some just organized by "pack". I have two other LARGE drawers where I put the overflow (unopened packs of both solid and patterned). Disney has a drawer to itself and 8 1/2 x 11 has a drawer to itself. I also have two 12 x 12 accordion files that are full of patterned paper organized by type (school, sports, fishing, birthday). But most of that is much older and I am trying to purge it. I got rid of all of my baby paper and most of my juvenile birthday stuff last month.
I skipped the chalk day. I have one 12 x 12 drawer that holds my chalks, embossing, glitter, etc. I don't tend to use much of that type of stuff.
And I will consider myself done for tomorrow (Sizzix) also. I have 1 1/2 large drawers full of Sizzlets alphabets and Sizzix dies. I am not interested in purging any since I still use them and they are contained and well organized..................P
ETA: I didn't mention TODAY.... adhesives are all in one 12 x 12 drawer. I mostly just have dotto refills, CM tape runner refills, and zig pen refills. I don't use glue dots much and the few I have I keep right on my table, close at hand. I can't fit my Xyron refills in the drawer, so they sit on top of the book shelf where I have most of my boxes/drawers................P

I wanna play too!!!! Luckily most of the things y'all have done already is pretty well organized in my room.
1. Stickles & Flock -- we had an old cd/dvd skinny bookcase that I put behind my scrap table and the first couple of shelves have my stickles and flock bottles set where I can see what color they are easily.
2. Cricut -- my cartridges are on shelves on the wall above my Cricut so that I can get them easily. They are all stored in their boxes, but in no particular order. The only problem I have is the one Solutions cartridge I have since it doesn't have a box. It's just sitting on top at the moment. My mats are on the shelf below my bug and extra blades are in my "extras" drawer by my table.
3. Stamps -- I don't have many stamps, but I seem to be collecting more of them and they were outgrowing where I have them and making it harder to see what I have. I was in Tuesday Morning and they had this little plastic tower with 4 drawers (it's maybe 6 inches wide and 18 inches high) and it'll be perfect for my stamps and chalks and ink pads. That's what I'll be organizing today since I haven't moved anything into it yet.
4. Chalks/Inks -- as stated above, I'll put them in the drawer thing with the stamps
5. Collect paper -- I just did this the other day because it was driving me batty having it scattered everywhere. I now have it all in one stack and just need to sort through it and put it away. I have my solid cardstock sorted by color (reds, greens, browns, blues, pinks/purples, yellows/oranges, white/black) in 12x12 stacking drawers. My patterned paper is sorted by theme (Christmas, Fall/Halloween, Wild Animals, Cats, Boy Scouts, Flowers, Disney, Food/Cooking, etc.). My paper scraps are filed by color in folders and then I have one folder of patterned paper scraps. I cut them into neat squares or rectangles before I file them otherwise those extra bits catch on each other and I get frustrated and won't bother with them.
6. Adhesives -- the zig pens I'm currently using are in my spinning caddy by my table. Extra glue pens and any other type of adhesive is in my "extras" drawer by the scrap table so I can get to them easily. My Xyron and extra cartridges are on a shelf together in the bookcase.
So, it looks like I just need to organize my stamps, chalks, and inks to get caught up with y'all!!!!!!

Congratulations guys! We are one week in! Hopefully, you are starting to see a dent. One thing about taking this slow is that you have time to develop a plan. If I was cleaning my room the old way, I would have just been shoving things in a drawer with some empty space. I wouldn't know what I had, and it wouldn't be conducive to creativity later, since I wouldn't be able to find stuff easily.
Next up. Sizzix, Quickutz, Cuttlebug and any other manual die cutting system you have. There was basically nothing for me to do for this one. Except, clean the stuff in front of my storage, so I could take the picture.
A couple of years ago, I found some Sterilite drawers at a garage sale. One of them holds all my Sizzix stuff. Good thing is that with the Cricut, I haven't been buying more Sizzix, so all my dies and replacement cutting pads still fit in the drawer. There really isn't room for more bigger dies, but there is room for Sizzlits or Cuttlebug dies. The machine and my Sidekick, I keep on a small table.

ok...I'm caught up now! So I don't know if I had mentioned this before, but I am moving into a new "office" at my house. A few years ago we put on an addition and ended up with 5 bedrooms, but one was small...We let the kids have the 2 new rooms, the guest room was the average room and I took the small room. Well, it is now 4 years later, we still don't have a bed for the guest room and it was full of junk. So we cleared it out, got new flooring (instead of builder's grade stained with paint carpet) and set up a new, more organized space! So I've been working on it! And it is lovely...I'll have to see what pictures I have to post of my before in the small room and the empty big room. I have no pictures of it right now, though... So far I have thrown away approximately 6 large bags of trash, junk and things I just don't know why I had. (you know what I mean...) Once it is all done, I will be sooooo happy. ;)
Before...please don't judge me...(no one outside of my family has seen these...)

I have paper, embellishments, stickers, etc. in the cabinet. I have adhesives, Sizzix dies, fiber, etc. in the bookcase. I use recycled glass jars for my ribbon "scraps". They too are sorted by color. It works well. :) I would estimate that I am about 85% moved. I'm almost there!

sorry I got a little behind in my daily organizing, luckily most of these things were already in it's right and own little space. :goodvibes
So for Day 3) Stamps:
Most of my stamps all already in their own little boxes so they fit nicely in the top shelf of my Scrap cabinet organized mostly by size.
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1429.jpg
Then I have a bunch of misc stamps that don't have pretty containers so they sit in this bin at the bottom of the cabinet:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1430-1.jpg
Day 4) Chalks, inks, etc:
Ok I have 2 things of chalks and they fit in a drawer of this little cabinet:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1431-1.jpg
My stamp inks are also in 2 of these drawers, plus some misc stamping tools and tiny stamps.
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1432-1.jpg
Day 5) Collect Paper & Day 8) Sort Paper (thinking ahead)
I didn't include pictures yet, but most of my paper is sorted by solid colors in one holder, basic patterned paper is sorted by colors in the rainbow and then blacks, browns... this is in another holder. Then I have seasonal or specific item patterned paper, sorted by Holidays, like St. Pat's, Easter, V-Day, Christmas and then outdoor items like leaves, flowers (these look real) and food items, plus beach, water, and such. These are all in another holder.
Then I have papers I buy specific for albums such as WDW, my kids albums, and vacation. These are sorted into specific bins for each of these albums.
Day 6) adhesives:
I have 2 drawers in this organizer devoted to this (below) and I just keep a few things on my scrap working desk like photo squares, dots, tape, etc when I'm working.
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1434-1.jpg
Day 7) Cutting systems:
This is something I just recieved as a Christmas present. The dies themselves where easy to store as I had an empty bin to put them. It sits in the cabinet.
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1436-1.jpg
Now the actuall machine in it's case:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1437.jpg
this was more of an issue. I tired rearranging somethings on a shelving unit, but it didn't fit:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1439-1.jpg
So then I thought how about on top of my other cabniet and move the WDW vacation things:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1441.jpg
This worked:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1442-1.jpg
and I moved the WDW things to a hanging shelf and just shifted someother things around:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee134/Dizmama5/100_1443.jpg
Well thanks for helping me stay organized....:thumbsup2

This is an evil thread. I am a painfully organized person. In fact at least once a month a reorganize the scrap room, so all of this stuff is "done" already. But the thread got me thinking about the usefulness of my current methods and then I went hay-wire and changed them all! I went out and bought the Creative memories embellishment center just to have a really easy way to store my ribbon (they used to be in a box). I bought myself over 100 new dies and folders for the cuttlebug (I bought the entire Disney collection on ebay for only $190! :scared1: ) with Christmas money, so I had to find a new way to store them. I tried to find a good way, but the best is the binders from cuttlebug itself, so I have spent nearly $100 just to store my dies :sad2: . Then of course I had to go through EVERY sticker, rub one and embellishment and take them out of the sorted boxes they live in and put them into a three ring binder with page protectors so they are more accessible. Oh and I dug out all of my eyelets, brads, skittles, gems and other little things and am putting them in cute little mason jars to they can be easily seen as well.
My scrap room looks like it exploded and it is all your fault! :rotfl2:

Uh oh, that's not good. It's supposed to look better. But if it is helping make the space more functional, than I suppose the mess is worth it. Actually, for a time my room exploded even worse than it was too. I had too much stuff squished in too little of space, so I needed to empty out drawers and so basically, I am rearranging everything. Except the Sizzix.

Day 8 - Day 17: Sort Your Paper
So I hope everyone has thought of a plan of attack for organizing their paper. I'll be gone through the 17th, so you will have plenty of time, if you don't feel like doing it tomorrow or the next day, or the next day. :goodvibes :rotfl: Unfortunately, I didn't get my paper sorting done before I leave (dentist visit took priority), so I will have to do it all on Day 18 & 19. My plan of attack is:
1. Sort Cardstock from Patterned Paper
2. Sort Cardstock by color
3. Sort out major patterned paper themes (Disney, Christmas, etc.)
4. Sort out manufactures
5. Determine if my old breakdown of patterns, misc still works, or if I have to create new categories.
I setup put away days for both cardstock/patterned paper, but if it works better for you to put it away as soon as you sort, feel free.
If you finish your paper, you might want to start thinking about plans of attack for embellishments and stickers, and start gathering like items together.
Anyone not in the challenge yet, there is still time to do the one item per day until I get back and be all caught up!

Now, embellishments, that is a different story. I started with those large special binders with insert protectors. But I didn't know what I was doing and bought all the wrong size spaced protectors. If anyone can use them, let me know. I'll be happy to ship them out before the rate change.

I'm here and working just not posting. I sorted my adhesive into my large tote back but I can't find room for the glue dots still on the roll. So now I have 1/2 of a photo box with glue dots, ticks me off too since space is such a premium, but at least the every day stuff is in my tote.
My sizzix and cuttlebug dies are in a photo box up in the bookcase.
I bought another 3 drawer steralite container that was for inks but it actually worked out for my punches, so I think I'm working on the list just out of order.
No paper to be sorted so I'm keeping busy working on other things. I did how ever pick up my second album from Lisa the other day and got all my April 2005 Disney pages that are done in it and all double sided pages have the protectors on them. I hope to do some more work on them this weekend.
Today I am going to go through completed pages that need pics and try to match up pictures for them and I'm going to start going through my paper to get rid of anything I don't want.

I put mine in a box- I don't have too many. I also typed a list of what I have and what set it is from as well as a size (determined by me) so I can look at that list and see if I want to use one instead of just searching through the box. I made a database for my dies/embossing folders/stencils also.

Thanks for the motivation!

I have a nice big stack of papers to sort and put away!! I think I've been buying too much paper lately!:goodvibes It didn't help that I went to JoAnn's and Michaels yesterday and bought more. The plain cardstock isn't so bad to put away, but the patterned paper is another story. I'll sort by the categories I have, but then when I go to put the new paper in the correct folder, I have to pull out all the papers in there and look through them. It makes it take a lot longer! But, I love looking at all the pretty paper I have!!!!:rotfl: I am a paper addict!:goodvibes

How does everyone sort or organize there acrylic stamps????
Mine are in a big Drawer that was intended for paper.
I was thinking binders with those top loading plastic pages and then like baseball card holder pages for the small ones....
Any other suggestions?
right now mine are in a drawer but I'm thinking of doing a binder as well. Then I will stamp the images on a piece of paper that will either slide into the front of the binder in the clear cover or as the first page.

For acrylic, I use CD cases, keeping them by manufactor's sets or theme. :)

Day 7 - Die cuts - not done. Just before Christmas, I got a Big Kick. And in a matter of weeks, I went from 5 embossing folders to over 19 embossing folders/die cuts. I don't have any where to put them or the Big Kick right now. But at least they are leaning against the wall in the same area. But they are a pain to get to and work with. So I have to work on that in the near future.
Day 8 - My papers are sorted. I sort by colors/shades (reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, purples, blacks/browns/whites), special paper (such as vellum or glittered paper), christmas, halloween, disney, and a general theme section (which is just a bunch of different papers together but still sorted in their groups - such as zoo/animals, birthdays, boys, girls, etc). For the color paper, I keep solids and prints together. But keep them within their group in the section. I have three Cropper Hoppers, but that's not nearly enough. I probably need another one, but don't have any place to put it right now. Plus I have many paper stacks (from all the Christmas clearance sales) that are just sitting there.
What do you guys do with your paper stacks? Do you leave them in the stack? Or do you take them apart and store in your Cropper Hoppers or whatever you use?

I leave my patterned paper in the stacks until it is about half gone and then I seperate it out. When it is solid paper I tend to sort it out the next time I am sorting after I buy. Sometimes I will leave one general pad together to take with me to crops in case I decide I need something different then what I kitted.

Mickster no judgement here, my whole house looks like your before pic!!
AWM, I sort my brads and buttons into the same categories as my paper, holidays, seasons, color, etc.
It's the stickers and Jolees and stuff too larger for my plastic mini drawers that I have a problem finding a useable storage place for. I have some in the PSB crop in style binders that us these http://i8.ebayimg.com/07/i/001/27/c2/5fa5_1.JPG for storing the stickers/things. But like I said, I bought all the wrong sizes and it just doesn't work for me.
What do you all use?

I have a binder with regular page protector. I put 2-3 packs in each page protectors (grouped by theme). I also have those that match with a specific theme I have out in my 8.5by11 and 12 by 12 drawers. I have 12 by 12 drawers divided by theme park for all my items- swap stuff, stickers, ect. I also have one for the Fab 5. I have a large drawer for General Disney World areas and another for Disney Resorts. My restaurant swap items are divided into the resort bags or park drawer they belong with. I don't use stickers too often so it works for me.

Okay, I'm hopelessly behind on this challenge. I was hoping to get caught up when Hope's away but next week I will have no extra time. I do have a decent underlying organizational structure though - I just need to be better about putting things away. After next Friday, this will be my first priority!

I keep the paper in with my Disney paper and then the stickers all together in a compartment in my sticker binder. I keep all the stickers from one kit in the same page of the binder.

I thought I could "Play" along by organizing and just reading the posts, but I seem to keep coming up with questions and wanting to share some of my ideas.
I wanted to post a before pic, but I was denied because I was SUCH a newbie. I hope to post someday with my ideas. I will try to explain them. (Yes, I have a good sized room, but being a military spouse makes this current room a dream because I am sure it won't happen again in future moves.)
#1 Small Bottles: Stickles, Flock, Alcohol Inks (CHECK-n/a~ still new to me, so I don't have it)
#2 Cricut Cartridges and Supplies (CHECK-I re-purposed a small bookcase that has a little room to grow) :confused3 My Sizzix tower sits on top, Cricut carts on a shelf, sizzlits on another shelf, Sizzix and sidekick on a shelf and Cricut on bottom shelf. All in plain view. I have a small 5 drawer system sitting atop my shelf with small sizzix die cuts and random small punches inside.
#3 Stamps (CHECK-My Type-A~ness has me pretty much done with this already. I have baskets that fit my CTMH stamp sets wonderfully, and I have built notebooks for other acryllics by using transparency paper and sheet protectors and taping the stamp picture behind the stamps.)
#4 Chalks, Inks & Embossing Powders/Supplies (CHECK-Go Sterilite!! chalks and embossing powder in drawers. Stamp pads in a Cropper Hopper (great re-purposing idea) It is the case that holds photos and has the 12x12 door on the opposite side.)
#5 Collect Paper (CHECK-All in one place and mainly organized using OTC black 12x12 stacking trays. )
#6 Adhesives (CHECK-Medium sized plastic drawer system now works perfectly to hold all my adhesives from Zyron to glue dots.)
#7 Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Quickuts & Other Manual Die Cut Systems (CHECK-luckily with my "controlled" supply, it fits with my Cricut stuff on the bookcase.)
#8 Sort Paper (Taking advantage of Hope's vacation by taking a few days to do this "right for me." Looking to change up my patterned paper categories and unpack 3 new paper packs.)
I hope my ideas can potentially help others. I am loving seeing others' ideas and stealing them. Good luck to us all. I also LOVE that Hope is willing to add days to really make this work.
PS: Be nice to me; this is my first ever post to any thread. I need to work on the bling. :cool2:

I'm back home. So this train will be moving on again. But I'm guessing some of you have finished the next 2 days already. Me, I still have to sort all my paper, while unpacking, doing laundry, and getting back into the daily grind.
Big welcome to the newbies that have joined since I went to Florida. Great space Hurley!
Day 8 - Put away cardstock
By now, you should have figured out a sorting system, and today is the day to get all the cardstock filed away. I use the Cropper Hopper vertical system. I've tried horizontal storage, but then I have to page through the stack to find what I wanted, and the one edge would get messed up. Vertical works much better for me. I have 4 containers of cardstock. 1 Bling, 3 for Bazzill. When I finish with this sort, I may be up to 5 containers, with the 5th having Metallic paper, and the small amount of non-Bazzill cardstock I still own.

I had to go into my stash and look for old new baby pages for a cousin-in-law who just had a girl. So I got dressed in layers of fleece, wore my hat & scarf and spent 3 hours pulling out all of my paper. The card stock got seperated by color, disney papers all went together (I think they are all together). I still have to sort out all the pattern stuff. I am glad I was able to make a dent in my paper. I did find all the stuff for the CIL and added a pink marker for her incase she wants to start before she leaves the hospital.

Last day for paper, except all those scraps we are still saving. Your patterned paper should all be together, sorted by theme, pattern or whatever method you decided. Now get it all filed away.
Since you have a system now, the paper monster should not threaten your space anymore. When new paper comes in, put it in its place. Take 15 minutes once a week, and you should be able to keep that beastie under control...until you run out of space again. But that won't be a problem, because we will all have clean and inviting work spaces and we will be using up our stash this year.
I am going to attempt to get all my paper sorted and put away today, so I can get some pictures up later.

Day 11: Collect Stickers
With the paper all put away, you should have an open container or two...Now, we are going to pull together the next big project. Stickers.
I got some new storage devices while I was in Florida. They are selling these fold out totes for $3.99 at the Character Warehouse at the Premier Outlets off I-4, if you are in the area. They are about 6-8 inches high, and about the size capable of holding 8.5 x 11 paper stacks. When I get around to getting one of those cubicle shelves, I am all set, since I got 6 of them.
I used 2 to collect my stickers. One for Disney and one for everything else. I had my stickers in 3 different Iris drawers, and 2 different photo boxes, but they weren't in any order, so I couldn't find anything. I also had some in a file folder, and a different box, now that I think about it. I'm still not sure about a sorting plan, but I have a bunch of Cropper Hopper sticker envelopes that I had gotten in the sets from Tuesday Morning awhile back. I am hoping that they will work for the holiday themed stickers, and alphabet stickers, and that I don't have too many of those!

My stickers are in order. I have a small file cabinet and have them sorted in file folders by category. That way I can take a peek through it when I work on a specific theme and see if I have anything that I can use. My Disney stickers are sorted in folders by character, park, resort, etc. in a seperate cloth covered file box that a friend gave me a year ago. I finally figured out the best use for it. So, I'm okay on stickers for today's bit.
But, I'm still working on paper. I have a stack of paper that I bought last week that I will sort and file away today.

I am good on the stickers. The Clip It is used for Holidays and Birthdays (pic soon) and a file box with folders is used to store the rest by theme. With all the fun cricut and die cut embellishments we can make now, I am slowing down on the sticker usage. (Not completely, of course!!)
I need a little more time with my patterned paper. Ughhh. Categories to decide on.....
PS: I live in the DC area, so a road trip would be awesome to bring my way. We could crop in my room AFTER this sort. :goodvibes Off to deal with Inauguration Madness. :thumbsup2

I am hoping that they will work for the holiday themed stickers, and alphabet stickers, and that I don't have too many of those!
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/collectstickers.jpg
I am game for collecting all the stickers I have stashed in different places and the ones in my 2 Crop in Style binders, but I want to know what to do with them before I go gathering them up.

I have major problem, pain in the tush kind, with the larger border size stickers.

My large stickers, if I take them out of the package, fit in the Cropper Hopper sticker envelopes. Then I have the envelopes filed in reworked priority mail boxes. Before I just used them for Disney stickers. But now I am going to be using one for Christmas, Halloween, etc too.

If they are the ones you were showing earlier in the thread I would love them. I like the binder system but would love to have some smaller inserts for some instead of just the 12 by 12s I have in there right now.

I have a huge variety of inserts, full page, half page, skinny borders, and divided like crazy. There are 60 used and two packs of 10 new.

For the days of collecting sorting and putting away paper...I did actually find some paper that really wasn't organized to the best of my creative organizing ability:upsidedow
so I was able to re-sort some things and I can honestly say
check, check and check for that.
I will double check all my stickers, most are already nicely sorted in a big accordian file by theme, holiday, season, letters etc. But I know I have some misc ones around that are not organized well.
Be back to let you know how that goes.

I went through a period where every Sunday I took my M's and J's coupon to buy a Disney Jolee at 40% off. Then I bought more on clearance, ones from Surprise Swaps, more on clearance.
If you've got 6 though, that's good, that's enough for a swap. It's when you have 3, too much to use yourself, too little for a swap, that's a problem.

I have that same problem! I don't want to add up what I've spent on Disney stickers!!!:scared1: But, when they are on clearance, it's too hard to pass them by. The Surprise Swap was a good way for me to use some of them, though. Since each set didn't have to be the same I could use some of the stickers I had 2 or 3 of!!
My sticker folders look like I have lots and lots more stickers than I have since I also file my swap items in the same folders with the stickers.

Back in November, I started sorting all my "stuff" by the catagories that most are using. I put all my stickers, swap items, add ons all in Iris 12x12 boxes by Disney, baby, wedding, sports, seasonal and Misc. Brads, eyelets are sorted by colors and shapes. I was thinking it wasn't too bad until DH found 2 huge tubs of my scrap stuff mixed into the xmas storage. Those have not even been touched yet at all. Not even sure what is in them. I figure I will finish organizing what is out before tackling the tubs. Still have to sort pattern paper and decide what to do about the Sizzix. I don't think I will really use it any more since I have an Expression.
Lets see, to compare # of pages to expenses.... I finished 9 pages in 2007, I spent well over $1000. I really need to go back on the ban and stick to it until I actually need something. I am going to a crop next Wed night. I will be trying to kit multiple pages before it so I can match last years numbers in one night.

All my papers are sorted.
I use 3 accordian files for my stickers - but I need probably 2 more because I have gotten so many stickers on clearance/sale lately. I have themes such as animals, artsy (swirls and flourishes), boy, flowers, girl, kitty, letters, travel, wedding, and Disney - which has its own file and is divided into princesses, tink, characters, and parks. For the stickers that are too large to fit properly into the accordian files, I have them in a little rubbermade container - but they are all thrown in there - no themes or divisions - just overflow.

Day 12: More Collecting...Eyelets, Brads, Buttons, Snaps
Let's set aside the stickers for a bit. Let's now pull together the small embellishments. I had these scattered in multiple drawers, and baggies too. By pulling together the stickers and now these, I was able to empty several drawers, so I have space to store other types of items all together.
Last year, in the Target dollar spot, were different types of small storage boxes. I had bought some, and DH bought some to store some of his game supplies. However, I quickly ran out of space, and he decided to trade away his game that he used the storage boxes for, and so I got the boxes. I had originally stored them in one level of a Large Snapware container (http://www.snapware.com//product_buy.asp?dept_id=10005), but now I have so many, I think my embellishments are going to fill the whole thing. I'll take better pics of the individual boxes, when we start sorting.
Because I had multiple types of boxes, everything was jumbled together. Before my trip, I had started reorganizing so all Disney items were together, Christmas, etc. I still will be working on re-sorting for the next few days. My biggest problem now, is what I re-sorted I sorted by type, so eyelets are together, brads, buttons, etc. However, after I pre-sorted my ribbon, and I realized how much I liked it sorted by color, I wonder if that would work better for my embellishments.
So while you are collecting, start thinking about what would work better for you.

i have all mine together. They were all sorted out but then I got more- so I have a pile waiting to go into the boxes that are allready sorted. I have my plain brads and eyelets sorted by color. I then have 2 other small embellishment boxes that have them sorted by type- hearts, Christmas, Halloween, ect- all the holidays are in one of them and all of my shapes and living things are in the other. I had another box around after I sorted these so I took my very small embellishments- buttons, little metal things, ect and sorted them by color in this box.
Now when we get to the right day I just need to actually sort all of the ones i have been gathering and putting there as I sort things out and organize my scrap stuff..

I needed a few days to figure out how I was going to sort the stickers and embellishments, so we'll let those percolate a bit. Something we can complete in one day, hopefully. Flowers.

Here are those Target boxes I've been mentioning. The larger ones were $1 each, the smaller ones 2/$1. The larger ones, the horizontal dividers are removable, so you can make the space larger. I am hoping that this year, the $1 spot will have similar items because I have filled the ones I have. Of course, you can find similar boxes with divided areas...bead boxes, fishing tackle boxes, etc. But I like the price of these. :goodvibes

Day 15: Disney and Other Themed Brads, Eyelets and Buttons.
A lot like yesterday. I still have to finish this up, but I am going to a scrapbook garage sale that one of the LSS holds every 3 months or so. I will be sorting into the same containers I posted a picture of yesterday. I have one box with Disney and animals, and I have another box with random other brads/eyelets (Dinos, kids, pirates, etc). It's mostly the buttons that I still have to do.
Good idea on those drawer units, Mickster. DH has a bunch of those to store his Lego parts in (yes, his Lego. Engineers... :rotfl2:) but I never considered using them for scrapbook storage, even though I have seen pics of others using them. It seems like it would be very compact, and I might need that sooner rather than later.

Day 16: Basic Brads
For something completely different...a before picture. Most of my stuff is sorted, but at yesterday's LSS garage sale I bought a small mess. Brads, eyelets, charms, photo turns, and some stuff I'm not sure what it is used for, all jumbled together.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/bradsmess.jpg
So that is what my task will be today, sort the new arrival. I had also bought a jar full of flowers and I sorted that yesterday. The new jar gave me a better space to store my large fabric flowers. One preview pic, I also bought an empty Plano storage box, which worked perfectly for the button families that I have. I had taken them out of their original packaging, but I didn't have storage for them, so they were in larger jewelry bags.
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/hopemax/Organization%20Challenge/buttonstorage.jpg
I still have some other buttons, so the container that the mess is in, will hopefully become home to them, and that will clear up some space for the new charms somewhere else.

Do you take them out of the containers they came in?
I have a lot of the Karen Foster brads and they come stuck in foam. These are really too big to put in the organizer I have, so I've been tucking them here and there in my larger iris type drawers. It won't ruin them to take them out, right?
