Good morning and HAPPY NEW YEAR team.
I get to be the first to post, I must not have had as much fun last night as the rest of you did. Secrets out I'm not a party animal after all.
Anyone want a puppy and a daughter? I so need a trip south.
This is the day that I screw up the date on all the patient records I work with today.
Thanks for keeping the team going Connie.

Panda and all team Members!
I have everyone's miles and minutes posted up to today....that is all that I have gotten! :surfweb:
I have also set up a new spreadsheet on my computer. I can email it to everyone each week if they like or I can just post the results in the forum. I will leave up to you guys.

Yes the wedding was yesterday and I am now an MARRIED!!
It was a nice quiet evening...with 30 of our close friends and family. Tomorrow is our big informal party where we could invite any and all people we know from work and otherwise. Should be good times!! Anyone want to swing up to frosty Cleveland for a party?!
I'll post pics when I get a few. As of now...I don't have any as I don't think anyone used our camera at all.
Scott - We have noticed the pajama thing lately. I saw a whole gaggle of school kids leaving Target the other night and I told Jordan what you said about it. Well...not more than 10 minutes later we turn a corner down and aisle and there is a grown man with a full beard doing his grocery shopping on a Monday night....in fuzzy pajama pants!! Jordan and I almost laughed right at the guy! :rotfl:
Connie - I have to figure out what I did for miles last week since I id my LR on the 21st and not again until this last Monday. I'll send them to you. Also can you post the link for the Google Spreadsheet?
Dave - I would gladly take your pup...but I think my dog would try to eat him. :sad2:
Thanks to everyone who wished me Happy Birthday and Congrats!
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! :dance3:

Happy New Year everyone! Wow 2009 already ... :)
Eva - Congrats to you and Jordan! Sounds like you had a really nice sized wedding! I was reading on the December thread about your monkey PJs... I had to Google to see what that was all about - very cool!
Dave - Post some pics of the puppy! I'd love a new dog but DF is allergic to pet fur so it probably wouldn't go over too well :(
Denise - I love the pin design! I can't wait to see them in person :) Many thanks again to you and Mark for all your efforts!
Miranda - Congrats on the baby news!
Sue - Just when I thought we were done with the snow.... I took yesterday off and figured I could go out for a nice mid-morning run outside. No such luck since the ploughs hadn't come by yet. *sigh* Can't wait to leave though... Are you flying from Toronto?
Connie - Can you send me the spreadsheet? I'll send you a PM with my e-mail address (and um ... my missing hours).
Jen - Congrats on your race! First in your age group is awesome!
Lynn - A power outage before you test? That reminds me of high school ... A cenus taker sounds like an interesting job, is there a lot of walking involved or is it going to be done through the telephone?
Scott - I have 3 work days left before WDW as well. Because of the way Christmas and New Year's have fallen this year, I was joking with some friends at work that I wouldn't be use to working a full 5 day week once I return!
Margie - I think tapering is overrated ... I just realized that I can't go and eat everything that I want  Good luck with your training this week! I'll still be doing short runs and weight training at the gym.
Everyone else - :wave2:

Hello Everyone!
I have an apple pie in the oven. Mark and Nick are playing Wii shooting games, Miranda and Matt are due in later, Hope is working but will over later for dinner.
We're doing New Years this evening.
Dave, Miranda got a voice mail message last night from you and Erica but has not listened to it yet. When she comes over, we'll listen together. She was doing a private party for her boss at a mansion in town. I'm sure she's recovering after a 12+ hour day and newly expecting. It's a bitter cold day here but we dress for it and it's bearable. Winds are high and I think of Scott and Lynn dealing with the winds daily, BLAH.
No training to day but I'll use the treadmill and ellip tomorrow but I do have PT for an hour tomorrow so that will count for something.
Got to go - have many sewing projects to work on so I'll sign off.

Happy New Year Team!!
Had to settle of a 10 miler today. Snow still on the roads & sidewalks.
Plus side was the sun. Minus side was the cold temp. Couldn't keep the hammies warm & started to stiffen at about 8 miles so I headed home.
Now I'm enjoying a nice cup of hot tea before I head out to walk the dog. Wish he would learn how to walk himself.
Well housework & packing are calling........Sue
Vicky, Flying out of TO on Wednesday.

Denise - I got my pins! THey're GReat! Thank you sooo much!
While I have not been a very participatory member of the team in recent months, I do drop in and read much more frequently than I post and am looking forward to meeting you next weekend.
Training is going ok, I think.
I bought new shoes a couple weeks ago and I'm not sure I like them. I may wear my old ones on race day

Looks like everyone was up and posting early...
:hippie: No partying here either :lmao: I was in bed before 9:30pm!
No Puppy - and my DD is downstairs making a mess for me to clean up so no Thanks on the DD.
I did get in a short walk this afternoon 3.3 slow cautious miles, but it was nice to be outside. The temperature was up but the wind chill was in the single digits.
Vicky, I will be going to the gym this week too. :goodvibes
Thanks, Captain Connie - We appreciate you! :grouphug:
Miranda - Congrats on the baby news! :cloud9:
Jen - Congratulations! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good morning dear team mates.
I'm glad we are staying together, we have some really cool folks on here.
Margie did Erica dispell all your worries for the trip? Trust me it flows like a smooth river.
Do any of the rest of you experience this. In the morning when you get up and you are fresh you look more toned that you do in the evening before bed?
I'm off to the gym for some waking to break in my new, half size larger shoes that I'm wearing for the marathon.
Have an awesome day everyone.

Hey! Lisa! Welcome over to the bright side!
Okay, the new rules...same as the old ones! LOL Except this time we report Sunday through Saturday. Some months will quit in the middle of the week, you can just break 'em out or I can just put it all on the next month. Whichever works for you!
Vicki is the only one who has asked for a copy of the spreadsheet. It is written in Excel, so if you want a monthly copy just send me your email address.
Please include your birthdate in your next coorespondence with me! We want to celebrate all of our birthdays! You don't have to share your age unless you just happen to be proud of it and almost 52, like me! :scared1:
I don't know that we are competing with anyone but ourselves, but then, in endurance training and racing aren't we our own competition??

Oh shoot! I meant to tell everyone that I did 5.5 miles OUTSIDE today and actually had one of the best walks of my life! Maybe rest isn't such a bad thing.
So, for all those who gave me miles, a sincere THANK YOU especiailly Margie!!! Can't hardly wait a whole year to go to the World and race together. I think I can carry my own miles now. If that 5.5 was any indication and I have every reason to believe that it was!

Eva, Congrats! I'd love to see wedding pictures!
Denise, My pins got here today. They look great! I'll certainly be thinking of all of you running this coming weekend. I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!
I know there's a thread on the main forum but I thought it would be nice to post our goals for 2009.
My 2009 goals are a sub 22 5k, a sub 48 10k, to run my first marathon (hopefully in under 4 hours), and to have a week where I log more than 35 miles.
Best,
Jennifer

Happy New Year Team!
I am trying to catch up here, cannot even remember how many days I have been gone - maybe only one, or maybe 3:lmao:
Denise - we got the pins today! They are fantastic, I immediately repackaged them up and put them in my carry-on.
Eva - Congrats to you and Jordan!!!!!
Lisa - you are more than welcome to our team! We just had so much fun that we did not want to quit!
Connie - again, thanks for being Capt. of our team. I will send you our miles for the end of Dec. as soon as I post this!
It will be great to see all of you who are going to WDW!!!
Nice day here today, not too much wind (about 15-20mph), and warm. I got in a 6 mile walk with the dogs, and when Scott got home early, we got down all the outside Christmas decorations - the inside is a different story, may not get them all away until after the trip to WDW!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi everyone! I took the day off today and went with DF to get a massage! Lots of fun and very relaxing! It was a surprise for him - I think he liked it. I also managed to get in 3 miles on the TM this morning. I had planned on going outside but was running short on time.
Sue - I'll send you a PM. We'll have to figure out how to meet up so I can get the pins to you :)
Connie - Awesome job on the 5.5 miles!!! Gotta love those days when you knock off a long distance walk/run like it was nothing! My birthday is on October 6th ... long time away!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi team! I did 5K on the treadmill this morning! It was one of those so-so runs. I like running with my iPod but something about the TM is so boring. I can't wait to get back outside!
My running skirt arrived on Friday. I picked the purple/lilac color since they were out of the navy/blue skirts. I think I'm going to be 100% glow in the dark since the purple is pretty bright and so is the WISH shirt :) I also got a free tank top which was really cool! It's cotton so it will probably just be worn around the parks.
I still have to find an old throw away sweatshirt or top. We had a clothing drive at work last month so I really don't have much to choose from anymore.
Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Hi everyone!
I've been around, busy weekend and many meals with the kids. Nick and I went to walmart to buy a nerf game for the Wii along with the guns. We've been running around the house shooting each other laughing like fools. We also have managed to play the game as well as download a western shooting one for Mark - which we all enjoy.
Went for my final PT on Friday and it hurt like hell so not much going on in the exercise dept. but I do have my 1 hour of PT to count and my range of motion is so good I've been discharged to do it on my own.
Today I do laundry and set aside my clothes for WDW - we leave Thursday. I will not be at the Expo on Thursday unless it's later as we arrive around 1PM that day. Our plan is to go early Friday morning. I had wanted to meet some of you that day but we changed our flight to 1 - save $375 and 2 so Miranda (new mom to be) could get a few hours sleep that morning.
Dave and Erica - do you know where you'll be as a volunteer? If I"m not mistaken, your leaving today. Have a safe trip and see you soon.
Hopefully you all get your pins in time for the trip.
Well off to have some quiet time before the "shooting starts". We do have fun.

I ran 4 miles this morning on the TM. I tried out my new running skirt which is great! I also tried out my new waist pouch which bounces a little with my camera and phone inside. I also just noticed that the inside pouch has a little tag stitched on the inside that says "sample not for resale". Great. Here's hoping it doesn't come apart during the race.
Jen - Yikes! Glad you're okay!
Sue - I think I've gotten lazy. I can't seem to motivate myself to run outside anymore. Oh well, my next race after Disney isn't until May so I may just take a small break from running.
Scott - That's pretty chilly! Only a couple more sleeps until WDW!
Kathy - I remember you! Stop by when you can :)
Denise - Glad to hear the PT has been going well!
Connie - I'm going to send you a PM with my miles. I guess I should have been working with a spreadsheet all along!

Hey guys...today is my last LR before the trip. 8 miles...then one or two 3 milers..then the race!! :scared1: Still no wedding pics uploaded...we'll get them scanned sooner or later. Geesh is it just me, or do the rest of you guys have a nervous stomach anytime you think about this weekend. It's hard to be excited for EE and ToT because I keep thinking "26.2....what?!?!"!
Margie - We also leave in Thursday since Jordan had to work. He's taking a half day and we are booked standby on the 3 something flight out of Cleveland. We'll get in late, get our car and hit the grocery before checking in for the night.
Vivky - Did you order the "sample" on eBay? I had probs with the last pair of shoes I ordered on there and have sworn off eBay for awhile.
Jennifer - I always have to be very conscience of cars when I run because I tend to zone out. Lately I haven't been running with my iPod and it's helped.
Scott, Lynn, Sue...safe travels to ya! See you soon!
Dave and Erica...hope you arrive safe and happy! Won't be long now!!

Morning everyone! I'm finding it hard to concentrate today - my mind is on the weekend. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone too! I'm still working on packing, I started doing laundry yesterday afternoon and then I ran out of detergent. D'oh!
I'm hearing rumours of a snow storm on Tuesday. I'm hoping this won't affect our (or anyone else's) travel plans too much.
Margie- I'm leaving early Thursday morning. Getting up will be good practice for Saturday morning!
Eva - I bought the pack at a local running store. I checked it out and it seems okay. I think I'm too late to make a change now :( I should have been more careful. I'm hoping it's was just a sample for the store to inspect rather than a prototype.
Well, I will be off to the gym tonight to get in a bit of a workout and have my PT check me over! Safe travels everyone!!

HI All!
Is everyone packed? I'll finish up tonight. Now that the race is only a few days away the waiting is brutal.
I started my list for packing, but need to search threads here for packing lists to see what I missed. I know what to pack for WDW, just not the race. And I agree, the waiting IS brutal!
Vicky - I decided to wear the old sneakers. Haven't decided if I'm going to take the new ones or not. I haven't worn them outside yet, I'm thinking I might still be able to return them.
I was stressing over the weather and my clothing options and Friday picked up some tight running pants to wear under my shorts and well as some "lightweight" what I thought are wicking socks. I did 6 miles on the TM on saturday in my outfit. Pants were fine, but am I glad I tried out the socks. I think they're way to thin, I had a serious almost blister on the underside of my big toe. I may just wear my regular old cotton socks.
bunnyfoo - that's the only thing I forgot to wear on Saturday was my fanny pack. I'm hoping since I walk/run, it won't be much of an issue.
Safe travels to all. I fly down Friday morning and DH, DD and Friend arrive Friday afternoon. Hope to meet some or all of you at POP.

Did anyone from Hakuna Matata do the 5k this morning? If so, I hope it went well.
I did 3 miles in 25 minutes, but I'm thinking I may have gone too hard/fast. When I got back, I had some mild shin splint type pain.

Yes we had a super time at the 5K. Erica and I did it with Hockeychic, Scott H and Lynn G and a group of WISHers and DRs. It was cold and we were all frozen by the time we got back to the rooms.
Yep, sounds like you might not have warmed up enough. My shins usually let me know when I do that.

Yes and they all looked strong and graceful. Scott H., finished just over 3 hours clock time so chip was probably around or just below three hours. He was with Patrick, "TooFools" hubby.
All our princesses were in awesome shape and did really good.

It was an eventful day. We met with Dave & Erica by accident waiting for the bus to go to the race. Rode the elevator with Robert & Linda at the BW from disneyrunning.com. Then off to race. Nick tracked our mileage with his Nike ipod and between all the walking to the race start and the race it turned out to be 15,4 miles!
I was in a different corral f and the kids were in C but I had 2 friends with me in F so it was fine. Saw the man that looked like Santa, and another young man in a red speedo :cool1: so there were benefits for being in the back!!
I of course did not get in my best time because the firs 5k we were too crowded with "players" so I had to ramp it up for the remainder of the race. My watch died so I had no idea how I was doing but I was working hard to powerwalk the whole thing. Around mile 9 I started to be a bit sore so I changed my stride and rested till mile 10 then picked up the pace. I finished with a chip time of 3;12which is 12 min longer than I wanted but in retrospect, I didn't feel too bad my lower back is tight from not stretching enough but all in all I'm doing better than last year and that comes from training a lot this past summer to build a good base.
At the end Miranda and Nick were waiting for me. Unfortunately this is where I found that Hope had been swept at mile 8. She was trying hard and hoping for a miracle since she had hurt her back, had tried to keep up the pace but her stop at the MK for the b-room did her in. She said all that were swept on the bus were crying. When we met up with her we were all teary eyed. It makes our finish bitter-sweet. She's a trooper though, she is already up and out the door to volunteer for the full, she's at the Studios and is having fun so the WISH motto comes through, she's down but not out, she plans on doing another in a couple of years when she has more time to train, a stronger back and maybe the rest of us the desire to do it again.
So this morning I'll put on my medal, my shirt from the 1/2 and walk to the bridge by the Swan and wait for the eilte runners to come by and see all the best there is.
Miranda did to the race, even tho she is not accounted for since she lost her chip and was not recorded - she was very sad about that. She met Nick at the MK where mark was waiting for us with food and drink - thank God - and they finished together so she knows her time. She's tired, sore but a trooper for doing it pregnant!
Thanks for your support. signing off for now.

Good morning team,
First of all, bravo to all of you who did so well at WDW this week-end.
Now I hope I can come back with the team since I have been away for a long time. But reading the race report on this board and on DR have given me the motivation to start again and now I have some goals on paper. The Ottawa half in May, maybe Beach to Beacon in August in Maine, the Race for the Taste at WDW in October and the big finale, WDW week-end in January 2010.
So I am giving myself a kick in the butt and I have 359 days to get ready for marathon week-end. Now do I try to do the Goofy or not? Anyone on the team thinking that far ahead yet??
Have a nice day.

We are having a super time and no one is to sore. Erica did great except that we got seperated and someone said she was way back behind so I went back to the end to find her, finally got her on the phone and she was several miles ahead instead of behind.

So, everyone have a nice Monday, ease into the week and then come out fighting for the next race or goal you have made for yourself, it's the only way to achieve them.

Good morning,
To begin, safe travelling for those of you coming back from WDW and to those coming back up north enjoy the cold weather. I went for a run yesterday afternoon and it was beautiful: -5 celcius, sunny, no wind and the roads were nice.
I am in my 5th night out of seven at work and I have just checked the weather for my last 2 nights and it will be cold. In Derby Line,Vt, they say that it will be -25 F during my last night but it will feel like -41 F. :scared1: You know it is cold when celcius equals farenheit in temperature.
I have a question for you Connie and Sue since you have already registered for the Goofy: have you already run a marathon or will the Goofy be your first one. I am sitting on the fence about registering for the Goofy since I have never run a marathon.
Still 2 hours to do at work and then home to sleep. Have a nice day.

Well...I did it! And I'm not dead!!! :woohoo:
I ran the full in 5:02..and yes the 2 minutes are bugging me. I stopped in MK to use the restroom (the ones just across from the Liberty Square Riverboat area)...well anyhow, I think I would have made it. That and I wasn't in my corral at the start I came out with walkers in corral F or G somewhere. Nerves had me in the porta lines every grouping of them I came to. Jordan's face was amusing when he told me my final time...I knew I hadn't made my goal just by the way he told me how great I did. But as he and my parents keep saying..."Two minutes is easy to shave off next time!". I really would love to sign up for Goofy, but we have plans for a bambino this year. I'll keep running and make it a distant goal. Next stop Detroit Free Press Full 2010!!
Here's a link to my pictures from this weekend...(well not ALL of them, but the ones that pertain to the race). The fist few are from Akron.

Sorry I didn't get to meet any of you. I did meet some WISHers. I met Jeff at the W tent on Saturday after we had watched the 2:00-2:50 finishers and he had said that Vivky had been there but left and that Dave was in the stands. Jordan and I did a sweep of the stands looking for Orange, but no such luck. Sunday...I stayed in porta lines the entire time prior to the race. During the race I met up with quite a few WISHers yelling "GO WISH" as I approached. A couple of people looked at my like I had 3 heads and a cyclops eye. Others were very receptive and ended up chatting for a few. Stopped to say Hi to Lily in the first mile...Matt ran with me from the TTC till the MK...came up on a group walking after MK (thought it was a WISHer next to Dave and Erica) but when I came up along the WISHer, he was one of the "third head-cyclops" responses. Didn't catch a name, but I ran up and chatted with a couple from Michigan around mile 21. They were very nice. Ohhh and the HUGE group of WISHers after MGM was very nice. It was a great booster to get my butt moving to the finish line. Then I stopped by the W tent for awhile...Jeff and Bill were the only WISHers I recognized there. Came back to EPCOT that night and was looking for you guys. I even was hovering outside of the brownie party for a minute, but we ended up heading home to miss the Illuminations crowd.
OK...well, now that I have written a novel...I'm going to get out of here. I have more pics of WISHers DisneyRunning peeps that aren't uploaded yet. Get them up soon! :goodvibes

Good Morning Team!
Diane, Yes I have completed 2 Disney fulls (4:45). Trying to decide if I need to do 1 in May for more experience. Would love to do Ottawa but most likely it will be Mississauga. Going to see how much snow we get over the next couple of months & how much road running I will get in.
There are many opinions out there about this race. Some say no need for previous full marathon experience some do. Some say train with back to back runs some don't.
Before doing my first full I had completed a few 1/2s. For me progressing from a 5k thru 1/2 was ok. Increasing to the full was a big step up in training. Are you coming into it with a good base? Don't want to risk injury.
For me personally it's not about just surviving the Goofy. I have a huge time goal in mind. I wouldn't be happy with myself just finishing but that's just me. The Goofy is a huge commitment to training but I'm up for the challenge.....Sue

Having done the ½ last year and the ½ this year I can attest that training is the most important thing you can do. I was very well trained and not just in the last 3 months and it really made the difference. Those of you that – like me – live in cold climates, the base you build in your legs through the spring summer and fall will carry you through the last month before the Marathon. Remember, you have holidays, extra food/treats and NO TIME to do many runs – by then you need to count on your base and mindset.
I thought I had trained enough last year but I was pretty sore after the race. This year – no problem. I was mildly tight in my lower back and 2 Tylenol worked for that.
Good luck in your training, next year I will play Connie – and cheer you from my home computer!

Hi everyone! I'm still at Disney - it's chilly! I think everyone has a good laugh when I say that since I'm from Canada but I'm more of a 30C girl so I like hot weather :) If I'm just walking around the parks, I find the 60F weather pretty chilly.
So I made it! I finished my second half and had an awesome weekend! The expo was a little bit hectic - there were a lot of people and I was exhausted that day since I had been up since 3AM. The lines were quick and the volunteers were really friendly! Except for the pin line... not sure I'll do that again...
I was late to the meet at Pop so I arrived just as they finished the group photos. I did get to meet lots of people from our team - Dave, Scott, Lynn, Margie, Kim and her DH Mike. I couldn't stay since we had dinner reservations and wanted to get back in time to the hotel to get rested for the next day.
The day of the race, I walked to the start with my DF and Tracy. She gave me lots of different tips about the course and where the bathrooms were in MK. I dropped off DF and headed for my corral where I met up with Wilbur (Sue)! We chatted for a bit and then I lost her after she left for the porta potties - I should have gone with her because I didn't feel good stopping later. I felt like I lost some of my rhythm afterward.
I had also had some problems with my sesamoids and had to slow my pace. My right foot was really hurting after MK - that was about the time I caught up with Jeff and Marcia. They were really cool! I chatted with them and ran with them almost until we got back to Epcot. I couldn't keep up with their pace and had to slow down again. I saw Jeff again on the turn around where you go up the bridge and he yelled "Go Vicky!". I thought that was cool and it definitely kept me going... :)
So I finished in 2:28 ... not exactly what I wanted but there will be other races! Like next year!!
Eva - I'm bummed that I didn't get a chance to meet you! I didn't know you were in the tents outside. I was waiting for my DF to finish... in retrospect, I should have wandered around. He was so pooped at the end that I didn't get a chance to look for characters :( Congrats on your finishing time! That's awesome!
Sue - I will get the rest of your pins to you when I get back to TO.
Denise - I can't remember if I thanked you for the pins but I wanted to say that they were so cool! I had a blast meeting your family - they're really nice!! Oh, I saw the red speedo guy too outside MK. As he passed me, I wondered what he had pinned his number on :)
Margie - It was so great to finally meet you!! You are just as sweet in person as you are on the boards!
Scott, Lynn, Dave, Erica, Kim, Mike - :wave2:
I'll post more later! Aparently I'm not suppose to be online so much while on vacation  ... chat later!!

I agree but at times I think the mental thing may even be a greater part. Last year at the start of the ½ I fell and injured my hand. Two men stopped and picked me up on either side. Made sure I was ok. I was scraped and had some road rash on my knee and hand. It hurt like heck and when I put purell on it zowie did that hurt. I put my head down and made up my mind that this would not stop me. It was almost a little reminder, let’s see what your made of. Mentally I was totally prepared – this year even more so. It is a great idea to train and make sure your body is ready but what I did before the race – about 1 month before, I printed out a picture of the route and I taped it to my computer monitor, so I would see it daily. I followed that route with my eyes often during the day, it made me relax and feel more confident.
Everyone on these boards is willing to help. It’s a great group of people and our team is the best!

Hello TEAM! :wave2:
the delayed Flights to Orlando was not part of the Dream Trip - but I truly
enjoyed the experience of my First WDW Race -the funnest & Slowest 1/2 Marathon ever! I was privileged to walk with a First Time 1/2 Marathoner, Laney - a member of Team in Training. Her Fiancée is a Cancer Survivor.
I heard 100 people were swept at mile 4 - but forgot if that was at the Donald or the Mickey. That would be devastating. For most of us it was not about time, but totally NOT being swept, having FUN, helping someone who was struggling, meeting new friends, and getting the medal! Totally LOVE the BLING!!!!
The race was full - not much maneuvering room until miles 10-12, so it would have been hard to get in your grove or stride without being rude to others.
Registered last night for the Goofy next year...Doing it only ONCE - so this next year will be a long tough training year.
The Disney Express, the Park & Hotel buses, and the room at the Pop Century were great!
Great Memory Moments with my Best Friend Rita-finally was able to physically meet Panda Dave & his Panda Princess, Erica. I have communicated with them for at least three years. I did a sleep over in their room Sunday night. They were so wonderful. They gave me several memory moments, souvenirs, and willing to get up early to take me to the airport Monday morning after doing the Mickey on Sunday. Met many of the friends from the WISH Forum-some old friend-Wish Team Members and a few of the Disney Running Group.
It was so wonderful to be able to finally meet Team Mates Vicky & DF; Denise & Mark; Scott & Lynn too! Me Too Vicky
Denise - I seen Santa & and the guy with the Red Speedo too - just where did he attach his BIB? Thanks, again for the 'Best Ever Name Tags.' Love Em'
I am still struggling to keep my voice - being part of the Scream Team at mile 26 - stayed until the very last person came limping in surrounded by the Medic Bikers. It was hard on my voice box, but so worth it . Although it was not a thought and not why I did it but I received hugs from the Disney people for making their job easier! As Scott says - KWEL!
My little Hagen slept over last night. We went to bed very early, but after several day of little or no sleep I am still WAY tired today-

Well when I arrive for work at 23:30 it was -1F and it is now -17F 6 hours later. I like living in Canada. It's been busy at work with people coming back from the Boston Bruins hockey game: they were playing against the Montréal Canadiens (we lost).
Thanks for the answer about doing the Goofy. I will be 50 in March and I would really like to celebrate next January at WDW. Really when you add up the win/lost column, I think your team has a decidedly higher win column against the Bruins.
With Boston less than 50 min away, we're Bruins fans. Old school though, from the 60's & 70's I couldn't name a player on the team now if my life depended on it.

Good Morning Team!
It is beyond cold here this morning. Tomorrow is to be even colder. I commute to work via train. Numerous cancellations & had to drive to a different station 30 mins. away. It was a long, cold, 3 hour commute. I'm still thawing out. Time for a second cup of tea or maybe hot choc.
Vicky, Congrats! on your race. There was not much of a line for the portas but the corral was packed when I returned & couldn't make it back to find you.
Had a great race & ran 2:03:02. Very pleased. Struggled a bit on the overpass coming back to Epcot.
Didn't see the guy in the red speedo. I saw the guy dressed as a gladiator (black speedo & not much else). He said he was a little over dressed.

Hey Guys,
It sounds like everyone is having a wonderful time at Disney!
I'm getting ready to head out for a long run, but am in need of some moral support.
I'm still improving as far as time but I feel like I'm stuck in a rut where I'm the only one who sees the improvement. I know that is stupid, but I miss that where'd that kid come from feeling. I only started running in May and have cut 6 minutes off my 5k and 2.5 minutes off my mile. I'm friends with the cross country captains at my school and their coach has said for as little as I've trained that I would have had potential as a college runner. Now here comes my pity party. In my small town local races, I regularly win my age group now (yes I have significantly passed my former competition this summer) and place in the top 10 women. I want to push myself to do better, but the overall winner (and yes in the small town it's always the same woman) is still a good 3 to 4 minutes faster than my 5k. When I'm at a bigger race it's easier, and I feel my biggest accomplishment is my sub-24 PR that put me 3rd in a larger age group in a much more competitive race. I guess my question is how do I get that competitive feeling back? I feel that it's negatively impacting my training as I feel like I'll never get to that next level of overall competition but I feel like winning my age group is no longer a big to do.
Thanks for listening/reading!
Jennifer

I have no advice for you, maybe get a personal trainer to help you. I remember watching the winner of the full marathon this past Sunday. He has won the Disney Full 6 times. I couldn’t help think, what #2-10 thought. Will I ever win this race, catch this guy etc. I think setting own personal goals is important, keep working on your form, your speed and the rest will come. There are some days that you feel -- I could beat anyone and others you just want to finish.
My other passion - I’m a quilter. I will never be one of those famous quilters on TV, publishing books or my own line of fabric. I did have the good fortune of placing in a large Quilt Show. This was a huge deal for me, it was totally unexpected. I did what I wanted, I made it my way, it spoke to me and obviously to a lot of other people. I find that when I am true to myself in most things, I am rewarded. Had I made that quilt to win a ribbon, I hardly think it would have happened. Trust me I have done that and not succeeded. So while this little post may not solve your problem, remember, hard work, comes with rewards. They may not be what you wanted but in some respects the rewards could be better.
Last summer my son was laid off from his job. We were all greatly disappointed but had he not been laid off, he would not have had the opportunity to work on a movie being shot locally. Now he leaves for Sundance on Friday as the movie has been accepted and will premiere there. I am a big believer in – it’s meant to be.
We can all lament, what if, why not, if only. There is that saying, when one door closes another opens, yes it’s true. I hope for your sake, you find your groove. Maybe if you had a training partner, it would help. Mark makes me walk faster and keeps me on my toes. I can’t keep up with him most days, find someone who may help in that respect. Maybe you could find out if this woman trains at a certain gym or health club – hey’s it’s worth a shot.
Good Luck

Good morning to all,
Well, this is it, 150 minutes left and I am done once again working the graveyard shift for 5 weeks. And boy, I can tell you that it is very cold outside.
Denise, I am like you: I used to be a big Canadiens fan but now not as much. But I like when they play against one of the original 6 teams.
I am going to try a short run when I wake up this afternoon: will see how cold it is.
Anyone living in New England running or walking the Beach to Beacon in Portland, Maine this summer? Always wanted to do it and maybe this summer...
Have a nice brrrrrrrrrrrr day:cold:

No training today: I plan on picking up the pieces this weekend. It's been busy since I returned and tonight I have a massage so that will be a great help my lower back, the only tight spot since the 1/2.
Yes we're in a cold snap at the moment and as much as I have for clothing, I am starting to run out of dress wear that's warm enough for work. This morning it was 4. It won't get much higher than that till the middle of next week. Not my favorite time of year!
Back to work, hope to hear from Scott/Lynn, Dave/Erica - are they going home soon? En route?

Good morning Team!
Diane - Princessrunning (Lisa) does the Beach to Beacon pretty regularly and I am pretty sure it's on her To Do list for this year. She lives in Maine.
Margie (and everybody) Yes, we are reporting our miles. For now, I have a spreadsheet I am keeping with everybody's miles in it. It's not on Google, but I am happy to copy and paste it, so everyone can see at least once a month! Dave was talking about doing it again on Google starting in February. At least for now, reporting days are Saturday. Regardless of the end of the month.
Jennifer, why not try out for the college team? Or at least ask if you can sit in and learn from the coaching?
Just keep having fun in Disney!

Good Morning All!
Brrrrr is all I can say!
Not much to report. I train hard 51 weeks in the year. This 1 week is my time to slack. Timed out prefectly with the really cold weather.
I will spend sometime on the weekend planning my '09 training schedule. I have set high personal goals for the Goofy & need to get started.
Also a hockey fan. Go Sens. (not having their best season) & Wings. Boo to the Leafs. & Canadiens. (Sorry Diane)
Have a great day. Stay warm.....Sue

Wow! I don't get on here for a couple of days and you guys go crazy! Took me 15 minutes just to do the reading! LOL!
First, :cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS :cheer2: to all you racers! Sounds like you all did a great job! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Jennifer - I have no advice for you. I'm so far down that ladder I barely understand what you're saying! But I hope you are able to work through your difficulty soon!
Denise - I thought your advice to Jennifer was very wise! I hope it will help her!
Connie - THANK YOU so much for all your Captain-ing this year! You have kept the team together by making sure all our times and miles were tracked and posted - not an easy task!
Sounds like you all have goals already set for the coming year and next year's races in WDW! Great job!
I have to get to work, now, but make it a great day!

Hey guys!! Well...I haven't gotten back out there yet. I'm itching to go for a run, but it's soooooo bitter cold out there! I'm really, really considering joining the gym again and running on the 1/10 of a mile track. Jordan and I have discussed it and both agree that when I become pregnant, the gym will be the safest option to continue to run. The neighborhood streets and country roads are not so safe as it is...let alone when we have the bambino to think of! Anyhow..I'm at work so this is a drive-by...more to come later....
Reall quick....
Vicky - Super bummed that I didn't find you last weekend...didn't really know who I was looking for though! LOL...we'll all have post some pics so we know who we are next time! Also bummed that I didn't buy tickets for the brownie party...it would have been fun. :(
Scott - Crgats on the huge accomplishment!! Sounds like you have inspired almost all of us to do the Goofy next year! If we weren't TTC I would be too! Great job...you've made us all so proud!!
To the rest of us that raced...CONGRATS TO US!!! It was a beautiful weekend!

Thanks guys for all your support! I think I was just having one of those days. On the bright side, my friend who was XC captain is marathon training in the spring so it should give a good work out buddy and with moving to a new state in the summer I'll have a whole new crop of races and people, while still being close enough to home to still race there every now and then.
It's cold here so I didn't run today, but I did get in 5 miles again yesterday.

Hi Team.
We just got back from Disney this evening, long long drive, 11 hours. We are tired but will be on tomorrow. I hope eveyone had a super week.
I finally got to meet Margie, Vickey, Denise, Miranda, Mark, Hope and Nick. All are world class people and Erica and I felt honored to join them in the activities this weekend.
I had the pleasure of doing most of the Marathon with Lynn G. She is a brave and tough lady. Being a Wyoming chic the heat was hard on her but she kicked it's butt.
Denise you have an awesome family, you are a good role model and mentor to them.
Margie, we are signed up for the Goofy also. I told Erica if she did good on the marathon we would do it again. She did great.
Everyone have a restful evening.

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:
Michigan has the Big Chill happening this week in addition to a bit of snow – another couple of inches last night. Not sure how many feet we now have, but I have shoveled a lot since the return from WDW. :cold:
‘Welcome Home’ Team – hope you all had fun. Got lots of pictures, and enjoyed all the memory moment! It was wonderful to finally meet so many of you. Felt the pressure of not enough time to meet, talk, see, and do everything. :goodvibes
Sorry I cannot help Jennifer – I am totally not competitive. I so enjoy just being a ‘FunWalker’. I often set a goal, time, & pace for my self, and would rather not be last, but would be extremely happy & honored to walk with that last person to cross the finish line! I truly feel great, thrilled with my accomplishment when I cross that finish line, and get my Bling-Awesome Feeling! :cheer2:

Jennifer - I agree that you should look into a formal team of some sort. You are so speedy...seems a waste to not put it to use!
Margie - How Michigan doing? It's been hovering around 1 degrees here today. When we woke up in was in the negative doubles. Sounds like tonight is a good night for blankets on the couch!
Dave - So sad that I cannot be added to your list of "meets". I looked for you everywhere! Well..I looked for everyone everywhere...too hard to find people. I really should have come up to the POP meet but I got shy and felt all weird about it. :guilty:
Kathy - So glad to see you on here more lately!
Connie - I have been running like a crazy person since we got home and I know I owe you miles and minutes. I promise I'll get them to you before Tuesday!

Hey, team! I have a question.....
It occurred to me today that I may be a WISH member under false pretenses....I am not sure exactly. I enjoy walking, but racing....not so much. I may do some more races in the future, but doubt I'll do one at Disney, other than the ToT again, maybe. Just too many people for me and honestly, if I'm going to be there, I want to play, not race. So, does the fact that I have no Disney race aspirations disqualify me from WISH?

Yep I second what Denise said, we are all on a journey. Sometimes we take different paths and sometimes we walk together. Racing is not a requirement, support for each other is. Sometimes we can support and sometimes we need the support ourselves.:wave2:
I had a pool workout yesterday so resting again today. The rule of thumb is one rest or easy day for every mile raced. I'll start walking workouts on Monday.

Thanks, Denise and Dave. I just wanted to make sure!
I am doing some weights today and some housecleaning. :laundy: I have a long walk scheduled for tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it. The weather is supposed to be very nice! Sorry, all you northern folks! Don't mean to rub it in, but we generally get a really nice few days intermittently through the winter! Of course, they generally come with a wind strong enough to knock you over, but......it's sunny and nice!
I have managed (I think) to get my exercising under control and am now working on getting my eating under control....always a harder task for me. Yesterday went very well. The whole week actually went better than I have been doing, although not as well as I will do! I seem to have to do it gradually - sort of sneak up on myself! :rotfl2:

I brought Hope to work this morning it was -6. Thankfully no wind so it wasn't that bad. Of course I was in the car the whole time and all the layers made me look like a stuffed snowman.
I have all kinds of new tools to work with this year. Wii fit, P90X DVD's Treadmill, elliptical so I'll be doing more hours than miles for the team this year at least until spring.
Have a good day all, may start tomorrow, today is sewing and fun day. I told Mark last night I could do another 1/2 this weekend - especially if I was back in Florida. Alas, we're stuck here in NH at least until March 2 when we head back to the world on points. Thank goodness for DVC

Hi everyone!
I got back Monday but have been SOOOO busy! I met Margie and her friend at the expo. She was the first WISHER I saw. Walked up and said HI! then noticed her Hakuna Matata Pin! (Thanks Denise!) We chatted for a bit, but I had to get going. Later, at the Pop meet I met Dave and Erica and Scott and Lynn and saw Margie again if only briefly. We didn't realize there were WISHers inside the food court. and had met some other WISH'ers outside (the man who was doing the vow renewal post race?) and talked to few other people. I didn't see any of our team pre race for the half, but did hang out with some other WISHERS and it was great to be able to pass the time and have something in common with people. I tried to stop and say hi to all the WISHERs I passed during the half. Congratulations to ALL who participated!
Here's a report I posted on the reports board, too
Some random thoughts from a newbie and first time Half'er.
First and foremost, thanks to everyone on these boards. Having the support and wealth of knowledge here before the race was just incredibly helpful. Being able to seek out and find a few other wishers in the pre race area made the time go quickly and keep my mind off the stress. And of course, all the cheering was inspiring and invaluable.
Overall it went well, despite a few setbacks. First was the fact that I had decided to "re-load" my music on my phone so I deleted all the music that was there and at 10:30 at night before the race attempted to install a new playlist. I don't know what the issue was, but nothing would load (except for the songs from the CD "Where the Magic Lives" all WDW theme park music - go figure! I just wasn't sure I could take 25 minutes of Disney music and hear it over and over again for 3.5 hours. Luckily DH had his mp3 player so I borrowed that. Unluckily, he has a different playlist and listening to Frank Sinatra Love songs at mile 8 was tough! I skipped through them and opted for Beethoven, instead! Even though I'm sure some of music helped me keep pace, I don't remember much of it from the last third of the race - not sure I was really listening at that time!
I managed to get a few pictures with characters in the MK, but was disappointed at some the lines for the early porta pods. I remember stopping at the ones just outside TTC and having to wait 4+ Minutes! All of a sudden, the great time I was making (14 minute mile) was gone to just above sweep time - very nerve wracking!
I never did read the post race chapter in Marathoning for Mortals - so post race, went back to my room (which we had to check out to move to another room) took a hot shower, had a glass of wine, and headed out for 12 hours (and probably 12 miles) of park touring and further alchoholic hydration (which in hindsight, I guess, really doesn''t hydrate) I took 3 advil and fell into bed at midnight and woke up sunday at 8:30 feeling like a million bucks. We had to switch rooms again, so got packed up and by 10AM were on our way to another 12-14 hour park touring day (and probably another 12-14 miles) - Had my first cocktail at 11Am and continued on from there. Started to loose steam around 8:30 sunday night. On MOnday, I got up, barely, and felt like I'd been hit by a bus - achy, chills, stomach/ bowel issues, headache (probably dehydrated) and right knee pain. I peeked out of my BWV room at a crowd at the bakery around 8:30 but just couldn't muster the energy to get out of the room quickly. We checked out of the hotel around 10:30 (which by that time, there didn't seem to be many at the bakery) and I hobbled my way from the BW to DS, then to Epcot before heading home. I fell asleep immediately on take off and despite sitting the last row of the plane in a seat that wouldn't recline, I was out cold for 1.5 of the 2 hour flight home. I skipped work the next day, rested, drank lots of water and ate comfort food - homemade macaroni and cheese - not healthy, but hit the spot!
Possible best advice I received - vaseline on your feet - after hearing about others blisters, perhaps the body glide I rubbed all over my feet before putting on my socks was of some benefit!
I'm feeling pretty good tonight, but I probably won't work out for a couple more days yet. And I'm not sure I'm a repeat performer. But am probably going to do the ToT 13K next October.
For those that particpate one day and chear the other (or visa versa)- extra, extra kudos to you! If I do go in future years, I think I'll go just to chear! I feel like I owe some payback! I may have to go alone though, because DH, DD and her friend thought that watching and waiting for me in the cool morning air was probably harder than running the race themselves.
Of course, they didn't get to see the gospel choir - which I thought was great!
So thanks again to all!!!!!!
Denise, Again, thanks for the pins I wore mine all weekend and got lots of curious looks and comments from Cast Members.
I still haven't worked out. Not really for any reason but just TOOOO busy. I really did let alot slide during training and now its catch up time. I figure this week we'll be able to get back into the routine.
Jennifer - Not sure what to say to get you motivated mentally, but when I was reading Marathoning for Mortals, the couldn't stress enough crosstraining to increase your time. I didn't start crosstraining until the weather got cold and I was forced onto the machines at the Y, but I think it really made a difference.
Well - been here an hour already, reading and posting - and I'm supposed to be working! :rotfl:

Good freezing afternoon,
Well I went outside to do my run (4 milles) this morning and it was minus 20 celcius ( 0 farenheit). At least, even if it was not sunny, there was no wind. I guess it is that kind of run that make you tough mentally.
I haven't signed up yet for the Goofy and during my run I was wondering if I could do a 20 milles run in December in that kind of weather?????
I am in my second day of rest after working 7 graveyard shift and my body has make it another time. 9 more years of working "shifts" and it can not come fast enough.

Anne, yes we do get that reaction from Cast Members. I remember once when we were wearing our Disney Chick pins and had lunch at Beaches & Cream, a couple of Disney "suits" were very interested in our pins. It got a bit uncomfortable for one of my friends but I told them they were just for us and "honorary disney chicks" No husbands, no kids for a long weekend at Disney.
We gave them out to mothers with screaming kids or tired husbands when they saw us and really wanted to join us. I think we gave a few of them some ideas! :sad2:
I didn't drink much last weekend because my dd is pregnant and can't drink so we only had 1 at Yak & Yeti and a glass of sangria at Mama Melrose.
Your certainly did a lot of moving both rooms and bodily. It is hard to train here in the north during the winter months, I plan on more cross training this year to have the rest of my body as strong as my legs.
French Lady - I agree, training in sub-zero temp is crazy. Mark wanted to go out today for a walk it was 16 - the coldest temp I;ve been out in is 15, I still couldn't do it today. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

Yes Scott, I thought you and Lynn were going to the dessert part. Last year I never met Dave and Erica but Miranda did. This year we "ran into" them, I missed Eva too. There is just so much to do and if your there only for a long weekend like us,the kids want to do some of the parks and since their not "official" wish members they only tag along to please me.
The internet has made our world so small and as one of my quilt teachers said after a class, I'll say so long not good bye because I know we'll see each other again. Unless we stop training, competing or fall of the face of the earth, I know we'll "run into" each other at some point.

Hey guys! Well...today is another blustery day in Ohio. I have my fuzzy Tink pants on and my robe...staying warm! Tomorrow I go and buy a gym membership...I just HAVE to get back into my running. I'm getting very antsy! I learned from my marathon that I really need to focus more on my quads and upper body (my posture was horrible by the end of the race and I had some back pain). So I might be looking to you guys who do strength training for some help along the way. :thumbsup2
Dave - Hope you feel better!
Denise - I like what you said about us meeting up someday. I know I missed the boat by not going to the POP meet or brownie party...lesson learned. Maybe next time we should just have a Hakuna Matata meet somewhere in the AK?!
Scott/Lynn - Glad you guys got so much time in the parks..I told Jordan that we really need to plan on stay for a few days after the race next time. I had to really back off on my commando park style this year since we had the race coming up and I feel like we missed out on so much.

I still have not exercised since the half. Now that I don't NEED to make time for it, it's falling to the end of the priority list. Of course, I really am way behind on alot of stuff. We still have all our Christmas decorations up. It's too cold to open the attic to get the boxes down. Of course, with the ice storm we didn't get everything up until 12/23. Looking at the Martian Marathon Half on April 1st. I used to live in that neighborhood and when my dad ran marathons he ran the same roads. I showed him the course map and he said there isn't one inch of that course that he hasn't ran on. It would be special to me. Although...I might want to wait till next year and run the Full. Good morning, everyone!
I got a nice walk in yesterday, down on the riverwalk, about 6.5 miles. It was chilly to start, but then warmed up a little and was perfect walking weather. It's so beautiful down there that it makes the walk seem shorter! I thought about heading down there this morning, but didn't think I could squeeze it in, get home and showered before a 9:00 appt. Glad that I didn't, now, because the wind is howling! I did do some time on the treadmill, though, and some weights. I'm hanging in there with the weights....third week this week! They're definitely NOT my favorite, but I know I need them, so I am hoping to really hang in there this time.
I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Margie and Dave. Hope this pixiedust: will make you feel better fast!

I have not worked out since the ½. I needed to rest and today I’m still tired – must be Monday blues. I did spend Sunday in my sewing room and made a baby quilt for Mark’s niece. I hoped to do SOMETHING today but if I’m that tired at 10:30, 5 will be a crap shoot!
Nick is in Utah at Sundance and sent me this report which I’ll share. It’s a most exciting time for him – we are happy that things have worked out. He also seems to take after his mother, he slipped and fell yesterday and hurt his knee, couldn’t be too bad he was able to see a few short films during the day.
Safe Travels, Scott and Lynn. Dave and Erica – feel better, Everyone else – have a great day. I’ll get my butt in gear eventually.

Nick's report:
Omg, even though I was on set everyday and had also read the script I must say it was one of the funniest and most intriguing film I have seen in some time. laughs all around, and even some great audience reactions at key moments. I can't wait till it hits the theaters it will do well, it is nicely polished film and the jokes are quick and frequent. done quite well for a budget of around 500 grand. but things are looking up for the troupe and they have plans for other things if this 'blows up' like it seems to be. also check out the USA Today (not sure which one, might be Monday's) the guys had a long meeting at the end of the screening with a reporter. That's all for now, I am heading to bed since its now 5 am EST.
MB (Monkey Boy) - family name
p.s. they had a shout out to me during the Q and A was quite a shocker for me.
And in USA today:

A VERY exciting time for him and his friends

Good Morning Team!!
Get well wishes to all those who are not feeling well.
Over a foot of snow fell yesterday & more on the way. We are running out of places to put it. What happened to global warming?
Eva, cross-training has made a huge difference for me. I've been taking a Pilates class for over a year now. Love it. The gym also has a great circuit weight room.
24 machines. 12 for legs - 15 reps each and 12 for arms - 12 reps each. Had be doing so well with the weights then just stopped doing them around Oct. in favour of more road mileage.
My work is relocating next week. We were able to get a coorporate rate at the gym right by work so I will be able to go on lunch. Cross-training will be my focus for the winter/ early spring.
Not going to do many races this year. Don't need them to keep me focused. With the exchange on the Cdn $ the Goofy was $380. Ouch. That's motivation enough.
Have a great day everyone.....Sue

Hi TEAM!
:hippie: Glad to hear you are feeling better, doing your workouts, & going to the gym! :goodvibes
My worse day was yesterday -I did not have enough energy to go to the gym this week. I plan to try it tomorrow morning. ::yes::
Eva, I did the Martian Half Marathon & work the Expo last year - Great Race.
Connie, I think it is only about an 8-hour drive to Nashville. I would leave after work on Friday night and drive straight through to Memphis when Sara was down there in A (US Navy) School. :goodvibes
I think someone said Nashville was very hilly? ::yes::
Oh, My I could not keep up with her! I think I heard something earlier about :hippie: and a tough 10 year old 'Girl' :lmao: My granddaughter (10) jumped up on her mother's TM the other day started up at 6 mph and ran for half an hour. Jumped off, and without even breathing hard said, "Man that's kinda boring!" LOL I have GOT to get that kid into races more!!!
Congratulations to Nick - That is a fantastic accomplishment, proud Mom
Keep Warm-we are up to 18 degrees with wind chill of 6 degrees today.

Rest and food, it does a body good.

Hi everyone! I got back in late last night - so it's back to the real world tomorrow. I went to work out for the first time in over a week. I probably should have hit the gym while at Disney but it didn't happen. I brought my DD medal to show my PT and he thought it was cool.
I'm still trying to decide whether to register for the 1/2 or the full next year. I eventually want to do a full marathon but really don't know about training for one during the winter. I guess I'll have a couple of months to decide before it starts to fill up.
Denise - I wish I lived that close to work. When I drove to work, I'd sometimes take a quick nap in my car during lunch :) Congrats to Nick! Sounds like Mystery Team was well received!
Dave - Hope you're feeling better soon!
Connie - That's a funny story - exactly how I feel about the TM! I will catch up on my mileage this week and send you a PM.
Sue - $380 ouch! What ever happened to our dollar?
Margie - No immediate racing plans yet. My next is the Women's 1/2 in Toronto ... I'm trying to save up so I can go back to Disney next year  Hope you're feeling better today!
Scott/Lynn - Safe travels! Hope the weather has warmed up in your area.
Eva - I looked up some 1/2 and full videos from Youtube. I love the ones that add their own music. Very cool!

Good morning team.
Face book and YouTube are places I never go, but it appears that they are very popular. Are there videos from the WDW marathon there?
Sue and Vicky, when we go to Canada for the Women's half in May do we need to get dollars changed to Canadian dollars or will US dollars work?
What is Canada like at the end of May anyway? Warm and pleasent I hope.
I'm back to the treadmill today, my cold is much better so it should go fine. I need to get back at it.
Have an awesome day y'all.

Dave - I used to live near Detroit and when I was younger we would go to Windsor to drink. Even to cross the Ambassador for 2 hours you need to change your money over. So...I would say yes, you will need to exchange your money for the race. Facebook - I'm all over it....youtube - I love the funny dog videos and the WDW videos!!
Margie - Do you plan on going to the Martian this year? I'm still on the fence about it.
Connie - That's funny about the 10 year old on the TM...it's boring for everyone I guess. I know I was bored out of my mind last night when I was on it. But I felt great after!
Vicky - I think if you are running the Woman's half that you should shoot for the Disney Full. I'm so glad I did my first Full there...wouldn't have wanted to do it anywhere else!
Denise - That's super cool about Nick!! The report sounds very promising!! I bet you guys are just so excited!! :goodvibes
Well...I'm running late this morning. The morning cuddle time was drawn out due to the cold...made us both a little late to get up. I have my coffee in me now though..and I'm ready to get up and at-em! TTFN

Dave, glad you're feeling better! Margie, I hope you are, too!
I did a step aerobics DVD this morning and then an ab work-out on the stability ball. That ab work-out is really hard! I still can't do the whole thing, but each time I get a few more reps and feel like my form is better.

Dave, yes exchange your money. Now that our $ has slipped below par you will want to get the most for your money by doing this ahead of time.
Do you have any travel plans? Doing any touristy things or just coming for the race?
Weather? Should be getting quite nice (for Southern Ont.) with it being the end of May. Ave. temp for May 53 degrees & ave. for June 63 degrees.
Not much to report. Pilates last night & tm this evening.

Well I did the elliptical for ½ an hour and then more floor exercises after that and PT for my arms/neck. Wow what a work out but I felt GREAT afterwards. Could only muster enough to have a sandwich and then fell asleep in my chair but I feel so much better today. Some days we just have to force ourselves a bit.
Hope emailed me this morning watching the press coverage for today. Hopeful that things will turn around for Nick. This is part of my answer to her:
Regardless of your choices, the new president will have a tough time of it. We all need to be patient. We can only hope that a fresh face will at least make people think in a positive light which will in turn possibly excite the stock market again and jump start the economy.
I think the press has a major roll in how most people perceive things and if we can get away from that and deal with the president exclusively as FDR did in his "fireside chats" the attitude could be turned around. Keeping my fingers crossed

We are staying the weekend with Kim (Hockeychic) so it depends on what they have in mind. We are going to a ball game, Jays and Sox. I suppose we will have to pamper the princesses a bit after the race since they will be tired and hungry.
They are talking about the security for the event. The Limo is a vertual tank.
I had my first walk workout since the marathon, it was 3 miles easy with a long stretching routine after. A little deep soreness still but that is to be expected.

Good Morning Team!
I have not yet caught up on this thread, but wanted to get a post in to let you know were are alive and well!
We are safely home, the dogs have been picked up from the kennel and are romping in the back yard! The birds are back at the bird feeder now that it is full again!
Yesterday was a long day, one bag did not make it in on our flight, but was on the next flight - so we waited at the Denver airport for an extra 2 1/2 hours for our bag - it was the one with all the souveniers from the races, we did not want to lose that! Delta did buy us dinner - not a fancy dinner, but dinner none the less. We got home at 11pm, went straight to bed, as on the time zone we had been in, it was 1am!
Almost the whole time we were in WDW, it was only about 2 degrees warmer there than it was here in Cheyenne! Our sweatshirts got a good workout!
Have a great day!

Hi everyone! It's a busy first day back at work so I'm taking a quick break to check in :)
Dave - The temperature in May can vary. I find the beginning of the month to be cool but usually warms up by the end of the month. It can be around 70F but usually its been cooler. You can use US cash at most retailers around the city but you'll get a better exchange rate if you swap your money at beforehand. Just keep an eye on the rates and you'll get an idea of when to go to the bank. Also remember that if you use your credit card here, your credit will automatically add in the exchange rate for you.
Scott/Lynn - 2.5 hours at the airport! Yikes!
Eva - I'm still not sure if I'm comfortable with the 1/2 distance yet. I dunno :) How did you find training in the winter with the really long distances? Are you going to do the full again in 2010?
Well, I'd better get back to work :) Have a great day everyone!!

Went to the gym - 12 slower miles on the bike this morning.
Still a bit chilly here at 15 degrees with wind chill feels like 8 degrees. Too cold to take little Hagen out to play! :cold:
Eva, I am not sure about Detroit. I want to get in 3-4 Half's close to home - that would just be over night trips. Need to save the $$ for Goofy 2010. Looking for Half Marathons in April-May (June) Sept-Oct (Nov). I do most of the local 5ks May-June. Thinking Connie said our 20 week training for the Goofy starts end of August. :upsidedow

I am trying to get back on a schedule, my main priority this week is the Christmas stuff still up at our house! My knees are starting to hurt again, so I need to use them, they did not hurt for a week after the marathon!!! But sitting all day traveling took its toll on them.
It will be nice again today, but windy, high will be 63, wind 20-30mph. I still need to get dogs (and myself) out for a walk!
It was great to see everyone that we did see at WDW, and great to meet those that we had not yet met!

Kathy - I always tell everyone I'm only working to pay for my Disney vacations. I agree with you though - the work gives you a reason to appreciate the time off.
Lynn - I found that I had the same problem with my knees. I'm not use to sitting for three hours at a time so my muscles were really stiff after our flights. Not sure there's much room to stretch or even walk around.
Margie - How's your cold? Hope you're feeling better today :goodvibes

Just a quick drive by before I head home...
Denise - That is too funny about Miranda. I was going to work out last night, but I had a terrible day at work and the TV and couch got the best of me.
Vicky - No I'm not registering for any of the 2010 races in Disney. Jordan and I had talked about starting a family after this marathon. I might register for some local races (that are walker friendly in case I have to). About training in the winter...I'll be honest I hated it and swore I will NEVER do it again. After all was said and done, however, I actually wanted to sign up for the 2010 Goofy. It took Jordan reminding me how bad we wanted a baby to make me change my mind. I'm shooting for 2011 Goofy though and hopefully the 2010/11 winter will not be bad as this year!!
Margie - Let's keep each other posted on our Martian decision!

My boss was at my desk tonight at 4:30 complaining how dark it was. I said it wasn't dark at all - look outside, we could actually go for a walk tonight if the roads were better. Guess I'm ready to start again.
Actually I love the walking but I enjoy the fresh air outside too.
Had lunch with Miranda, she's still having morning sickness - not too bad but enough to disrupt her day. She worked a 10 hr shift yesterday so she was pretty pooped. 8 days straight and finished it with 10 hrs. We'll celebrate her 30th b-day on Saturday. It was the 13th but we were just back from WDW and she couldn't get the time off. She wants to have Chicken pot pie, banana split cake and mashed potatoes. Now that's a first but she wants bland, not too spicy which is fine with me. I'll make whatever she wants.
Lynn, I feel you pain. I don't have bad knees but 3 hr on the flight make my legs ache and my lower back. Trust me I have enough padding my butt shouldn't hurt but sitting all that time really makes me stiff.
Working, 2 reasons, I am the insurance provider, my pay funds my sons college loan, my fabric obsession and my vacations. Now it will pay for grandchildren toys and all kinds of things to spoil it.:hyper:
Well I didn't do any exercise tonight, which I had planned but we worked on a few chores around the house and that took care of my time.:hourglass
I sure can't wait till the streets are bare, we have at least an hour of daylight after I get home from work. Soon, very soon.

I did a 3 mile walk yesterday, then an abreviated leg routine as the knee hurt so much, but I am hoping that the walking and leg exercises get the knee back into shape! Still working on putting up Christmas decorations and cleaning house :laundy:
It has been nice here, (but windy), today the high will be 60 again, but the weekend is getting more seasonal, snow and high of 25 degrees! I will try to get out for a 6 mile walk today, but the wind is 25-35 mph, so I will see how I manage to fight it.

Hi everyone! Kind of grey and blah day here but at least it's almost Friday! Yay! Doing some research on yoga classes - there are so many different instructors and studios in the city, it's a little confusing. I think I might take a couple of the private lessons that my gym offers (actually that's all they have - doh!) so I can get use to the movements.

Walked 4 miles...it took me a little under an hour...but I was excited about that because I have been afraid I could not do the RFTT because I can't walk a 15 min mile yet. I know...I have til October! But I was scared anyway!
It was a BEAUTIFUL day here today! It almost hit 70 and not a cloud in the sky. Sorry for you guys that are cold! I don't see how you train in that.
But, I guess I will have issues when it is 100 degrees in the shade with 99% humidity in the summer! :)
Jennifer - Hope your stomach feels better!!
Sue - I don't see how you do this with snow on the ground. How cold is too cold for you to run?

Good evening,
Well I have finally decided to register for the half for next January 2010. With the month of December we had in 2008, I couldn't see myself training for the Goofy which would mean 20 milles run in yeurky weather. The most important thing is I will be there next year :cool1: .
The training for the half in Ottawa in May is on schedule. I went for my run this morning in a mini-snowstorm.
It is very quiet at work tonight. I need some:coffee: to stay awake.

Maroo. 7 lbs is great keep it up and you 4 miler is excellent. It is all a slow up hill journey, and when ya reach the top you look back and see just how high you have climbed.
I hit the TM and will do some weights tonight, I really need some core work, some good looking exercises in the last running world.
Diane and Vicki, glad you will be doing the 1/2 in 2010. We will be there also. Lynn is also doing the 1/2 adn I am going Goofy again. or Dopey with the 5K for both of us.
My major goals are weight loss and core, then the distance and faster times will come, At least that is what I think.

Good Morning Team!
Vicki - I agree with you, since I also decided on the half for next year, part of the reason was it was so hard to train for the full, so the weather will probably be beautiful all fall and early winter!
Maroo - as everyone kept telling me in the beginning, just concentrate on the distance and the speed will come! Also, I can race faster than I train - something about the excitement of the race.
Diane - it will be good to see you at the half next year also!
We have lost the warm weather, it is snowing and cold, the high today was 37 degrees at midnight - currently at 25 and forecast to go down throughout the day! Cold all next week also! Knee is still bothering me, but it is definately better than yesterday. Today will be another session of leg exercises, and hopefully a short walk with the dogs. No - I only made it 4 miles yesterday, I could manage the wind, but the knee was bothering me.
Have a great day everyone!

PTI -- I'm keeping a promise I made to myself to get out to the other Teams to find out how folks are doing, and I figured where better to start than a team with Connie and Dave?!
I'll be honest and say I haven't read through your whole thread to even know who all the team members are, but I saw Vicky and Denise!
Just sending my good wishes to all WISHers for a great new training year! :woohoo:
Best of luck and have a wonderful New Year!

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:
Sounds like some of us are struggling with training during this cold/snow/ice phase. Cold rarely stops me from going outside but – no daylight; mega piles of snow; ice; and not feeling good sure does. But we know this too will soon pass :goodvibes
Sending pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: to all those who are injured and not feeling good! Lynn take care of those knees, Connie's migraine, Miranda, Jennifer, and anyone with this bug or lingering sore muscles. pixiedust: pixiedust:
:cheer2: Congratulations, Maroo- What an accomplishment and You have a great walking pace. Way To Go, Girl!!! :cheer2:
Vicky-I read your post and thought she is doing the ½ in Detroit – I got excited! Then I reread – it’s still way exciting that you are doing WDW ½ too but Detroit in October would have been nice too … I don’t think they open registration until March ::yes::
Greetings to our WISHer, Maria ... So Glad You Stopped by to say Hi! :flower3:

Happy Friday Team!
Ran on the tm last night. Too much snow on the roads still. Friday is rest day. Heading to the gym on the weekend for weights, pilates & changing it up to the elliptical or maybe even a swim.
Scott, I spent last year on core strengthening and it made a big difference. This year I'm going to really, really, really focusing on the core & being really consistent with weight training. I have set high personal goals for the Goofy. This will be my one & only and I'm not leaving anything out on the road when I done.
Connie 6 miler:cheer2:
Margie, cold doesn't bother me. Neighbors who don't shovel their sidewalks do. That's what kept me on the tm last week.
Stay warm (we are expecting really cold temps.). Take care & have a great weekend.......Sue

Good Morning Team!
I only got in a short loop with the dogs last night - but did get my leg routine in, which seems to be helping my knee - still hurts but not as much.
Cold and snow still here, will see if we get out at all over the weekend.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good morning guys.
It's comforting the Wyoming is colder again than Southern Kentucky, them being 60 while we were in the 20s was just wrong.
Maria, nice to see your sweet smile over this way. I read about your fall at the races, that really sucks. There have been several others do the ver same thing. Jeanne's hubby, John fell hard last year and the year before that Cam took a hard fall.
Connie how is that shoulder?
I got to talk to Margie on the way to the gym this morning, life is good.
I had a nice 3 miler on the tready this morning, it was 20 degrees and windy so no playing outside for me. I know that isn't bad temp for some of you Far North Princesses but I freeze solid below 40.
Everyone have a super day.

Hope this morning finds you all well. Today is going to be a high calorie, no workout day. We're celebrating Miranda's 30th b-day. I've already made 10 chicken pot pies (individual) as the expectant mom wants something bland so at her request, that's what will be for dinner.
Banana split cake and chocolate ice-box cake - Hope doesn't care for banana's. All done before 9:30 am, I also have roasted another chicken for the meat to make sandwiches and soup.
Now to relax, coffee and shower. We're going to a quilt shop today to buy fabric for baby quilts and to lunch. I don't know who will be more happy the birthday girl or Hope and I going along for the fun.
Tonight when the men join us we'll play Wii shooting games - always a lot of fun. I"m blessed to have kids that enjoy our company so much. We always eat well and laugh a lot. We may not be rich in $$ but we are rich in memories.
So, for all of you struggling to work out in the cold, I understand, I really need to get my butt in gear and contribute to the the team. The body feels sluggish since I'm not doing 20 miles a week. I can't wait till spring! I agree the sidewalks are an issue. We may head downtown since the merchants tend to keep them clear for customers to come in. Mark and I enjoy our walks and feel so much better with the fresh air and activity.
Have a GREAT day,

Good morning, TEAM!!!
Denise, what a fun birthday. I will be at your house to celebrate mine! How much advance warning do you need!!
I am very happy today, I don't have to do that 7 miles in even worse wind, today!! Life is good!
Dave, my shoulder is almost 100%. I still baby it, some and don't do push ups and planks yet nor do I sleep on that side, but I do just about everything else! I am just short of having all of my mobility back. The difference isn't even perceptible for other people, I am the only one who knows the difference! At least until they see the dad-gummed scar!
Welcome back, Maroo!
Dave I will send you the roster later today.

Hi everyone! I woke up this morning with a fever and a really bad sore throat. I spent most of today in bed. :sad2: I guess it's just as well since it's a pretty chilly day. At least I can come and visit with my team since I can spread germs through the Internet!
Scott/Lynn - I'm glad I'll see you guys again at the half in January! I wish I had more time to hang out with the both of you at the Pop meet. I agree with Sue, the core work will make a difference!
Margie - I actually went and Googled the Martian marathon and the Detroit 1/2 after reading you and Eva talking about them. The Detroit 1/2 is the same weekend as the Zoo run I was planning on doing in Toronto.
Denise - Sounds like a yummy birthday dinner!!
Maria - I thought you had joined our team for a second there!
Connie - Sounds like you've made a lot of progress with your shoulder! :cheer2:
Anyway, that's all for me! I'll check in later :) Have a great weekend everyone!

We got about 1-2" of snow last night, and it is 5 F this morn. Will see what the day brings.

Denise - tell Miranda :bday: from us! Exactly what is a "banana split cake"? It sounds really good!
Connie - glad to hear that the shoulder is nearly 100%!
I,too, plan to hit the Pilates tapes big this year! I have been doing a few selected Pilates exercises in my leg routine, but I need to do more of them, I may start throwing in more Yoga also!
I did get the dogs out for 3 miles yesterday, the snow had melted off the streets, and there was no wind, so it was quite pleasant. We got more snow last night, so the dogs might be out of luck today.
Have a great day everyone!

Sun was out today but is sure is cold still. Mark, Miranda and I went out to do a few walking miles. Unfortunately I was told it was "nice out" so I didn't dress all that warm. Big mistake. We were just starting our 2nd mile when my forehead was so cold it was giving me a headache. I am the last one to complain about the cold but my face, ears and neck felt like they were going to freeze and fall off. I called it quits. Mark is always so cold but his cowboy hat was warmer than my baseball hat. I usually wear a Heidi-type ski hat with pigtails, a scarf etc. What was I thinking it was 1 out this morning, it didn't climb that much in 6 hrs. So I guess 2 miles is better than no miles.
We came back to some home made soup, and sat by the fire in the pellet stove, bliss!
I will try to post the banana split cake at some point. It's yummy.

Heeellllooooo Hakuna Matata!!! :simba:
I'm waking up and starting my day. I have been busy, but I just read something that says "Somebody that is busier than you is running right now" and it snapped me into gear. I ran two days last week...once on the TM and once outside. It was nice outside, but there are no clear sidewalks as many of you have mentioned. So...I was battling the traffic during morning rush hour. :scared:
I think until the sidewalks clear up I'll stick to the TM as boring as it is.
Denise - Forehead headache? Gives a new meaning to "brain freeze" eh? :rotfl:
Scott - Now you got me looking at the DL half...geesh this really is an addiction isn't it?!
Vivky - FEEL BETTER!! Sleep as much as you can and drink lots of water! Well..on the plus side at least you don't have to worry about your training suffering right now.
Connie - Glad to hear that your shoulder is better! You probably healed up faster than somebody who is not conscience of health and fitness! Go WISH! :thumbsup2
Uh oh spaghettis-o...Jordan just came downstairs and says he has a stomach issue going on. I'm going to head to the store to buy some pepto or something. Hope all of you have a great day!!

Forehead headaches, I get them, but it's usually because my hat's pulled down on my forehead! Makes it hard to wear hats, caps, and beanies!

Vickie, you get well too!

Good Morning Team!
Dave - my knee did not hurt during the marathon, it did not hurt for a week afterwards running around the parks, I spent a day traveling (sitting), then a day at home just putsing around - then it REALLY started to HURT! I am thinking it was the INactivity, not the activity that caused the pain! I am diligently doing my leg routine, (which is a mix of what Lisa gave me and what the PT gave me) and getting in some walking (nothing yesterday). It is doing better, but it still hurts more than it has hurt since before I went to Orthopod because of the pain! I am wearing the knee brace on that knee all the time - usually I only wear them while out on a walk.
pixiedust: for Jordan and Vicki!
We did not go outside yesterday, other than to fill the birdfeeder - today is even colder - 0 degrees right now and snowing. We got about 6-8 inches of snow over the weekend, and it looks like it will be on the ground for another day - the wind is not supposed to kick up until tomorrow - then all the snow will be gone - to Nebraska! My exercise, other than shoveling snow, will be inside today - the dogs will just have to suffer!
Have a great day everyone!

Winter walking is a challenge – our weather has not improved so it is DM or not…I am having a tough time recovering from this cold – and my training is suffering. No energy or motivation to get back on schedule. DM tonight & Gym in the morning-:confused3

Question: Warm/Hot Weather Tights & Recovery Tights – Anyone have favorites? I tried a pair of the Skins Recovery Tights– have to return them, as there is too much material for a person 5’ 2-inches-bunches at the knees and the ankles. Same problem with the cute CW-X warm weather ventilator tights ... they kept sliding down, bunching behind the knees, etc

It is nice to hear from others who have tried things and share their thoughts! They are a bit pricey just to order-try-return! Please let me know what you decide to order. :scared:
BTW - my little Hagen likes your Little 'Blues Clues' paw prints on your signature ::yes:: He was a bit clingy after his nap today - hope he is not getting sick.
I was out doing errands - it is 18 degrees but feels like 10 degrees. My body is starting to warm up and I have that feeling we used to get snuggling up to the old wood stove. I was on a quest to find a 'boys' scarf to wrap around little Hagen neck - did find one at the 4th store. Geez, it would be nice if I could knit of something.

Thanks for the all the PD everyone! I've never slept so much as I have over the past few days. I still feel less than 50% :( I think I've lost some of the post trip weight as a result of the chicken noodle soup and cracker diet. Heh! Just trying to look for the silver lining :)
Sue - I was thinking the same thing about the daylight too. Perfect if I can make it out of the office by 4PM. The cold weather however ... on the plus side, I noticed that some of the slush has disappeared from the streets.
Margie - pixiedust: for your cold!
Eva - I've been thinking about the DL half too! That Coast to Coast medal is too cool! Airfare to LA is pricey from Toronto though so I might have to pass on that one. pixiedust: for Jordan too! I hope he's feeling better!
Denise - I've under-dressed on sunny days too. It's usually my fingers and face that suffer.
Dave - Group yoga with the team ... there's an idea!

Hi guys.
I had a nice workout this morning 4 miles on the tready and a quarter mile in the pool, then stretching of course.
We went to see marley and me today and it reminded me a lot of the puppy from H*ll that lives with us. My hands are starting to heal from the maulings though.
We are supposed to get an ice storm tonight and could get up to a half inch of ice. YUCK!
I have tried tights and I can't handle the way they feel, I can't do anything restrictive at all. I like the loose running pants like I wore in the marathon though.
Everyone have a restful evening.

Good Morning Team!
On cold days this is what I wear:
Sport bra, Insulated Shirt – Nike, Quilted nylon vest, Running jacket , scarf
Knit hat for my head with straps to tie it down – another layer around my neck.
Underwear, stretch pants, Nylon outer pants with flannel lining, socks, sneakers
leather gloves with flannel lining
orange vest with flashing light if dark out
I look like an Eskimo but I’m not cold.
It does take a while to get it all on and even longer to take it off since by the time I’m done 5-6 miles I’ve sweat through to the vest!
Banana Split Cake – for Miranda I did cut this in ½ and it worked just fine in an 8x8 square dish.
Layer graham crackers in the bottom of a 9 x 13 dish.
Beat on high until smooth:
2 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese
1 c sugar
½ container of (16 oz) cool whip
Spread on graham crackers.
Then layer:
1 (20 oz) can of crushed pineapple (drained)
3 bananas (peeled and sliced)
Mix together in a medium bowl:
2 (3.4 oz) pkg of instant vanilla pudding
2 c milk
Then add:
½ container of (16 oz) cool whip
Layer over bananas and pineapple. Cover and chill in the refrigerator overnight. Garnish each serving with chocolate syrup, nuts, cool whip, and a maraschino cherry

Denise, we wouldn't be able to see tiny little you in all that. I bet yo do stay warm though.
Today is going to have to be a rest day for me since we are having an ice storm and it's still raining and freezing on contact. We have about a half inch on the trees and power lines so lots of power outages, YUCK!
Lynn, if you remember I had fits with my left achillies tendon for years, then last year as a extra benefit of push mowing the yard instead of using the rider I stretched and strengthened my tendons to the point that I don't have more than a little minor soreness now after a hard workout. Maybe your knee will respond to what your doing with the weight training also.

I think that Margie is asking, because I am asking too, what do you wear in the heat that will support your muscles?
I actually bought the CW-X warm weather tight to try. They didn't fit me, so I sent them to Margie. They didn't work for her either. Because we are doing the Goofy, we are looking for ways to keep the pain away.
I love the Skins Travel and Recovery pants. I was wondering if anyone else had tried Skins (Particularly the She Skins and how they fit).
Didn't accomplish much yesterday. No biggie. I tried some wall push ups. I did 5 before I could feel it in the shoulder. But I will get there!
Has anyone tried the "Perfect Pushup" device?
See ya!

Good Morning Team!
Thanks for the recipe!
I have the skins - not the recovery ones, but the ones without the foot strap, I wore them as recovery tights last year after the DL half when we were taking the red eye flight to Orlando to get on a cruise ship! I also wore them for the 5K race at WDW as it was rather cool. They fit me fine, but I am not short. I also have a pair of the regular CW-X tights, but they are pretty warm for hot weather walking.
Dave - the knee definately feels better after a workout, it felt really good after yesterdays workout. I think I just have to keep working it! It could be like your achilles tendon problems that you solved with the lawn mowing!
pixiedust: for all those colds out there!
It is currently 8 below 0 out, and the TV news said the wind chill was 19 below - our wind thing is frozen, so we are not getting a wind reading on our weather station. It does not look windy out now, but it is supposed to pick up this afternoon, and we have a blowing snow advisory for this afternoon.
I did get out for a quick loop with the dogs, 1.28 miles, it was about all I could handle in the cold, I also got out to shovel snow for 35 min, that was all I could handle also! It should get a little warmer today, and if the wind does not kick in, I might get out for a good dog walk. The streets are snow covered, but it is still too cold for them to be slick.
Have a great day everyone!

Good evening team,
Well this week is the beginning of my training program for my first half at the end of May. I was suppose to go for a 5 miles this morning but I was called yesterday to work overtime from midnight to 8 am and I just didn't feel like running after a couple of hours of sleep. Instead I went for a 30 minutes walk with the dogs. When I was younger it seems so easy to do a graveyard shift; not anymore. I guess I'll go tomorrow morning before the snowstorm and the 6 to 12 inches of snow.
Tomorrow afternoon I will be either shoveling snow or having fun with the snowblower: I just love this machine, the power, the snow in your face because you forgot to think about the wind. Call me Diane the toolwoman :upsidedow
Sorry, have to leave to take care of the dogs. They are back from the stable. My quiet time is over.

Hi everyone!
Stopping in quickly while waiting for DH and DD to get home so we can have dinner ....at 9PM!!!!
I could have posted more, but I've spent the last 45 minutes trying to get online. I must have a virus or spyware or something because my computer keeps freezing when I try to visit any websites. I'm thinking about taking it to staples for a "tune up" this week. Maybe they can find something.
Well, I began exercising again finally. Did about 6.75 miles last week over 3 different days. Not much, but it's a start. Hard to believe I was probably doing close to 20 miles a week in the weeks for the Half. It's all been on the TM or eliptical, - too cold outside for me. I'm REALLY looiking forward to ging back to FLA during Pres week and being able to do some long walks outside!
French lady, I can empathize about that graveyard shift. While I never worked that shift, there have been times recently with some work projects I've told myself "just stay up until it's done. After all, you used to all nighters in college all the time!" Then about 3AM I am literally nodding off, totally unable to focus
Gotta go

Despite the cold, large amounts of snow and the freezing rain on top of the snow...I am in a particularly good mood today! :goodvibes Partially, because we have decided to cancel our September reservation and in turn rent some DVC points and stay ALK concierge! Now I know some of you have DVC, but I'm not quite sure who. I want to say that our couples do...Dave/Erica and Scott/Lynn. I sure would love a crash course on DVC rental...PM? We are thinking of buying in and though this would be a good way to test the waters. And I'm excited!!
I got 4 miles in last night...stopped and bought a guest pass to the gym. Didn't want to jump in to the full commitment yet so I got a 5 day punch card and it can be credited towards a membership if I decided to buy one within the next two months. So it really won't be money wasted...and I did enjoy running in warmth!
Anne - When my computer is acting up I go to TrendMicro's site and do a "housecall". Seems to work for me...finds stuff my regular anti-virus doesn't!
Diane - I still consider myself younger and I couldn't do a graveyard shift! I used to close at work and stay until 2-3 on some nights and that was kinda easy, but that was before my running addiction started. Now I'd rather wake up at 3 before I'd go to bed at 3! :rotfl:
Vivky - Somebody at work was just saying Mucinex-D works wonders for clearing out a cold. It could get rid of that residual gunk that seems to linger. Get better soon!
Shoot! I had planned on writing more...but DH's alarm went off and I should have showered by now. I'll try to stop in later!

Good Morning Team!
A little warmer today but that brought & will be bringing lots of snow. Wanted to go to pilates class at the gym. I'm thinking shoveling will be my workout.
Had a nice run outside last night. Not too cold.
Eva, we are SSR owners. We love our home resort & DVC. We have stayed at all the WDW locations except VWL with three stays at AKV.
Unless you want to buy into the new BLT (Contemporary), I would seriously consider the resale market. Buy where you want to stay.
There is a very limited number of Concierage DVC units at AKL. I believe about 5 two-bedroom lockoffs. If you are interested for this September I would look into this ASAP.
Anyone running any races soon?
I registered for the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in September. Doing the full as the tuneup for Goofy.
Have a great day......Sue

EVA re DVC, we love it. Your plan is a good idea to test the waters. WIth that I would suggest you make sure your stay is in DVC one bed room unit. We like the one bed room for the kitchen and washer and dryer adn the jacuzzi tub.
I am not that up on the DVC rental so would suggest checking out the DVC rent board,
Anne, re computer probs, a reboot usually works 75% of the time.
I hit the TM last night, weights tonight, winter blizzard here.

Hi everyone! There's a bit of a snow storm in Toronto... should make the commute home interesting. At least the temperature warms up slightly when it snows.
Sue - I registered for the Scotia 1/2 last night. I wanted to beat the price increase. I'm also doing the 10K Zoo run on Oct 17th. The price increase on that one would have been $10. Have you run it before? I'm also doing the Toronto Women's 1/2 at the end of May. Erica and Kim are doing that one as well. I still have to get the rest of your pins over to you.
Eva - Thanks for the tip! I'll head over to the drugstore on my lunch break! When are you going in September? Any dates that cross over into October?
Anne - Try downloading some anti-spyware and anti-virus s/w. I use AVG at home for virus checking but the other names escape me right now.
Diane- I haven't worked a graveyard shift before. The latest shift I've worked ended at 1AM. But we had a TV so the time passed quickly.
Scott - I didn't know the DVC units had a jacuzzi tub in them... Hmm... Stay warm today! Sounds like we have similar weather!
That's it for now! Take care everyone...

Good Morning Team!
It has warmed up here, but the wind is back! The driveway is now clear of snow, but the walks that I shoveled the other day are now hidden again! This morning I had to shovel a path to the bird feeder to fill it. The current temp is 23 degrees, -5 degrees with the wind chill factor.
I did get out for 4 miles yesterday, today I will try to get out for a short walk with the dogs, winds at 25+ mph will make walking difficult. Today is weight training day, so I will get in my leg routine, and a Pilates tape.
Vicki – glad to hear that you are feeling better – some more pixiedust: for continued recovery! The doc I went to for my bronchitis also recommended Mucinex but he cautioned to drink a lot of water if you take it.
Diane – I did a lot of those graveyard shifts when I was working – the last 5 years or so, almost all graveyards! Since I have been retired, I keep saying when I go back to work – for that extra spending money, I will do anything EXCEPT work graveyards!
Connie - I did PM you our birthdays (just the other day, better late than never :rotfl: ), did you get it?
Have a great day everyone!

Hi guys.
Eva, Erica and I are not DVC owners we rent points from friends so we can stay together when we travel, makes partying easier if we don't have to stumple, I mean walk or drive anywhere after. Yes we party like athletes.
Our plan is to get out of debt including house paid for, then buying enouth DVC points for 4 2 week trips and a cruise each year. About a 1000 points. I want to just buy them without financing them, as you know when you finance you pay about 3 times the price. That is why we have to be debt free first. We are 50s if we were your age then we would consider financing.
We want to be able to hang with Scott and Lynn so we need points for the cruises and adventures.

I am a DVC member. Have been since 1999. Our rep is Michelle McAllister. Call her and make an appt if you want the low down. No pressure - it sells itself.
One of the big factors for me was the fact that you are not locked into a week like other timeshares. I bought 200 points and then added on 150 - I had money back then. Some years we get a grand villa and have the whole family come down. We've done that twice and it's been a blast. Now with the baby on the way, I'm glad we invested.
We have used the points for a long weekend with girl friends, Mark and Miranda did a halloween weekend (Dad and Daughter trip). We've used them for the Marathon. Our annual trip the week after thanksgiving, a break from the snow in March. I consider DVC my vacation cottage that has no upkeep by me!
I don't think I would buy Saratoga or AKL or WL since to me they are too far out from the main parks. I did consider purchasing an add-on at BLT but business is slow for Mark so we'll be thankful for what we have. BLT would be nice, since it's on the monorail and with kids who want to go to the MK all the time, it might be more convenient. You did mention that kids are possibly in your future.
If both of you love it as much as Mark and I, the investment is worth it. Honestly, we were going to the BW 5 years in a row, once they put us in a 1BR suite, I went right down to the office, made an appt but knew I could never go back to a "regular" room. The convenience of that kitchen, washer and of course the jacuzzi tub -- :yay: I love our area at the BW. There are resales out there too and even DVC might have some at the other resorts. I remember when we bought ours the only place we couldn't use our points was at the BW Inn and at the Disney Institute (how old is that). I'm not sure if that is still the case. Also, we do get our annual passes discounted - so we can go down more often - of course!

Denise has a point about location for your home resort, should that be important. We tend to stay where the theme of the trip is, i.e. BWV or BCV during food and wine.
Lynn G

What Scott did not mention is that, unlike Denise, we prefer the farther out location, except during food and wine festival, our favorites are Old Key West and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Good Morning Team!
Who is shoveling out this morning? I've had enough & we still have a good 2 months of winter to go.
Vicky, I have looked at the zoo run a few times. We travel to Disney in October & are always away.
Eva, Another comment on DVC. Even through you are able to stay at the majority of Disney resorts. It is not as cost effective as a stay at a DVC resort.
For example if you wanted to stay at the Poly. There is a $95 cost plus many more points per night would be required. A week stay at the Poly Garden View would be 371 points where a week stay in an AKV Savannah View 1-Br would be 217 points during October of 2010.
FYI. 2010 points charts have just been released with some significant changes compared to 2009.
Back on the TM tonight. Have a great day.......Sue

Wow! We had a lot of snow yesterday! The forecast is calling for more tonight but we're running out of space to put it :)
Eva/Lynn - I checked a couple of the drugstores near my office and they said that Mucinex was only available in the US. D'oh!
Denise - How much of a discount do DVC owners get on an AP?
Connie - Will send you a PM with my birth date!
Anyway, gotta get going and start packing because our group is moving tomorrow morning. Second time in a year and a half. Then we're moving again in September.

Good Morning Team!
Vicki - Scott could tell you how much the DVC AP rate is, but I know that it is close to the Florida resident rate.
I am getting ready to brave the outdoors, it is 14 degrees, winds at 15mph, which makes for a wind chill of -4 degrees, but the wind will just get worse as the day goes on, so I am going to get out there soon. The dogs need a good walk! Yesterday was weight training day, and I did get in a good leg routine, a Pilates tape, and as Scott mentioned, a miserable short walk with the dogs.
Have a great day team!
Scott H

Vicky, The DVC rate for an AP is $369 first time and then $324 to renew a premium is $474 first time and $434 to renew.

Our roads are a mess, weather alert for more lake effect snow tonight, and it's a bit cold. But we are happy that we have power and keeping warm. :upsidedow

We had plenty of snow but no ice damage. It started off with about 8 in of snow then rain on top of that to make it look like we only had 6.5 in of snow but heavy.
I have not trained this week at all. After devoting almost 3 years to powerwalking and training for 2 1/2 marathons I am burnt on the treadmill. The snowbanks make it impossible to go out at night. I know it's not an excuse and I do have that nagging voice saying - you should be doing SOMETHING but I've missed other parts of my life so much that it's been nice to relax and enjoy a "regular" night of eating dinner, sewing and then going to bed. I certainly will get back up to speed this weekend but until the sidewalks are clear and daylight is a bit longer, my workouts will be different. I saw a on demand exercise program that I might try - only 1/2 an hour and works the whole body not just the legs. I can manage 1/2 an hour of my day to devote to working out.
I"m wondering if Dave has no power, some parts of KY had ice so that may be why he's among the missing.
We're cold just like Scott and Lynn, and tomorrow will be no better but at least the sun is out during the day which at least makes us all smile.
Well off for coffee and some fabric touching.

It's a fine day, although chilly this morning. I have an eight miler, today, so I am going to wait for a bit of warm up before I head out. Although it is only 29 degrees now, it is supposed to be up 59 50 by noon!

Good Morning Team!
It's Friday. :cheer2:
Our office is relocating over the weekend. So not much happening at work today. A little packing left.
More snow & cold temps for the weekend. Running outside is impossible.
Running on the tm really bothers me. Hurts my knee & back. Heading to the gym on Sat. for the elliptical & pilates class on Sun.
I have also joined another gym close to work. This will allow me to do weight training & maybe a class or 2 durning my lunch.
Very busy weekend planned along with many loads of :laundy:
Have a great weekend, stay warm & train safe....Sue

Good Morning Team!
Glad to hear that some of us escaped the ice storms. Hope those that have not checked in yet are also OK.
Today should be nice here, not quite as warm as TX, but our high is supposed to be 47 degrees, sunny, and "breezy" (which is better than "windy").
Have a great day everyone!

Happy Friday everyone! I'm looking forward to the weekend! I hope I can be rid of all the extra cold junk by Monday so I can keep my training session.
Margie - No ice storms here, just lots of snow. I think Kim & Mike are on another team :( I was looking at the team roster thread the other day and noticed they had moved. Btw, shovelling this amount of snow should count as an exercise.
Sue - I'm envious of people who have gym memberships downtown. I wish I could but they're so out of my price range. I always think how nice it would be to do a yoga or pilates class at lunch. TM bothers my knees and feet too for running.
Denise- Now that I'm not doing any training programs right now, I really appreciate the extra free time that I have :)
Connie - That's quite a change in temp! Good luck with your books!
Scott - Wow! That's a nice discount on the AP. I should have jumped in when the Canadian dollar was on par last year.
Lynn - Yay for warmer weather!! I wish we'd get some so all this snow would melt!
Anyway, gotta keep unpacking! Have a great weekend everyone :)

Wow!! You guys are like the encyclopedia of DVC! So wealthy in knowledge of DVC fun!! Jordan seems to think the AKV would be where we fit in, however I love WL and think that because of the running trails and smores that VWL would be better. Sooo...we might need to take a couple of short trips to see. It doesn't really matter what our home base is though since we can book anywhere right? Just a diffference of a couple of months earlier that I can book at our "home". Anyhow Thank you guys so much for the info...I'm so looking forward to our next trip!
Vicky - Is it illegal to mail US meds to Canada? And no I don't think we will be going to Disney in the fall. I'm hoping late spring or I hate to say it...late Summer (hot and :sunny: ) I'm hoping to get pregnant this year, so it'll be tough to plan until we have a time frame of "things".
Sue - Also impossible weather conditions here in Cleveland...and I also hate the TM. I have been slacking a bit, but running a couple of days a week on the track at the gym. It's a small track with tight turns, but it's better than battling the arctic freeze!
Denise - I have conflicting parts of me also that say "GET OUT THERE AND MOVE" and parts that say "The couch loves the company! Watch a movie and eat some ice cream!" LOL...I am doing a bit of both right now, and it feel great not to have a schedule to keep up with like during formal training.
Scott - Good deal on the AP! I really need to get DVC points this year. Is there a minimum to the perks? Like if I only buy 35 points or something like that, do I still get a discount?
Dave - You ok? Hope you are staying warm! I know winter power outages can be just terrible with burst pipes such. Worried for you guys!!
OK...back to work. Hope you guys are ok!!
Scott H

Welcome back Panda! I thought your power was out due to the ice.
I probably put on about 7 pounds over the holiday and WDW trips. I'm back to counting points on WW so I should be back soon to my pre-traveling-wedding weight.
Poor Miranda had to come home from work due to morning sickness. She is very sick from the vitamins so she's going to get off those till she see's the dr next week. She was so sick they thought she had the flu. If you could spare some pixie dust for her it would be appreciated.
Hope and I are off for some shopping, banking this morning. Nothing too exciting but at least we'll get some air.
I have taken over the books once again for Mark - economy is killing us and we need to cut expenses so I"m the accountant once again. Not very good at it but I can pay bills, make deposits etc. for his business.
I did complete an on-line survey that Disney Marathon sent me. It was nice to be asked. I think they do try and they do listen so hopefully YOUR experience next year will be improved even more - thanks to me! :snooty:
OK, off to run errands, have a great day all!

Carnitas ( how I make it) is roast pork loin, I spice it with Corriander, Cummin, garlic, I slow cook in the crock pot for ease about 8 plus hours. When done Shred the pork, serve on warm corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, onion, fresh celantro, sour cream, guachamole(SP?), what ever ya like, Lynn likes flour tortillas.
Pretty tasty.
