Is it better to book these when I book the resort or can I buy them once I'm there? To book ahead of time they must be paid in full by 45 days of arrival. Should I wait and buy them onsite? As this is for a honeymoon I'm hoping to save the money ($1100 Cd) until after the wedding.
You don't say how many days you'll be staying. If it's 8 or more, consider annual passes because the break even point is 8 days.

We're going for 7 days. The travel club quoted me $346.65 for these passes. But if I ordered them on the phone they want them paid in full 45 days prior to arrival. I wondering if I cannot just buy them at guest services upon arrival.

You can purchase them at the front desk of your WDW Resort when you check in, but you will have to wait for them to be made up especially for you and your husband as they are in the form of a plastic credit card, not paper. When you pay for them in advance, they are usually ready for you when you check in. If you are purchasing these as part of a Wedding package or any other package then you can't get the package without purchasing the Ultimate park tickets.

Hi Maxie, we're getting these too. No one else has mentioned this yet so I will, lol. If you buy thru the package you have to match days with number of nights in hotel. If you buy them at the hotel, you can usually drop your arrival or departure day if desired due to late arrival or early departure. We're definitely planning to ask to drop last day as our flight leaves Orlando at 11:35 therefore we must leave the hotel by 9ish to make it in time and certainly cannot park hop before 9am!

Look into the 6 or 7 day hoppers also. You may not want to do the parks one day but feel likek you should because you have paid for the length of stay pass.
While it is great because of the flexibility, with a hopper, unused days never expire. If you or anyone you know has a Magic Kingdom Club Card you may be able to get these passes at the Disney Store & get a slight discount (just about pays for the tax) but it is something.
Have fun whatever you decide.
