Hi all!

We're Disney vets who also loooooove USF/IOA, but we aren't accustomed to paying to park at the hotel for our length of stay. Our last stay was at PBH and we flew, so we had no car to park!

Without sounding like a total cheapskate  is there any way to NOT have to pay $15/day for my car?

Just trying to save a buck!:scratchin

A disabled sticker gets you free parking, or maybe talk to them nicely ,and ask if you can get your parking comp, you never know

You need to tell them when checking in and show them your disabled badge, if they charge you just point the mistake out to them, and they will refund the money

Does free parking still qualify if the reservation is not in the name of the disabled guest? For example, my father is disabled and has a parking tag that hangs from the rearview mirror. He will be staying in one of the rooms, but the reservation is not in his name. Does this qualify us for free parking?

Yes it should, but only for 1 car , if you have 2 cars you would only get one free .

here is the email i got from them.

Hello Robert, Thank you for considering Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando Resorts as yourvacation destination...and welcome back! We do honor complimentary parking if you show the blue disable badge. Thisis only for self parking, not valet. Please let me know if I can assist with anything else. Thank you!

We usually have a car. I am actually one of those who prefer having the parking separated out, so I pay when I have a car but don't have to pay when I don't have one. I don't like subsidizing everybody else's parking if I don't have a car like I have to at Disney. Disney just includes the parking fees in their rates, so you don't question it.

I just always figure the parking fee into the room price when we book. So, if my supersaver rate is $169.00 a night, I just mentally note that I am actually paying $184.00 a night. If the $184.00 had come up as my supersaver rate, I would have still thought it a fantastic price for the room I am getting. It is not so irritating that way.

Note that not only do they charge you $15 PER DAY to park, but they charge you TAX on top of it!!! Totally unfair. We just got back today from PBH, and what an unbelievable first class resort, however, they nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING - $9.99 per day for internet service in your room. You can get free service in the courtyard, IF you can get a strong enough wi-fi connection, $15 per day for a fridge, the list just goes on and on. HOWEVER, would I stay there again? ABSOLUTELY, this place is beautiful, and we brought our two dogs who had a blast as well!

try staying over night in a Chicago downtown hotel.
most charge $45 a night to park there.

other large cities do the same with a high parking fee.

i can remember when i paid $7 (or 5) a night for parking at the universal hotels when i had a rental car.

I've stayed in some hotels that actually charge you for ICE! :headache:

I totally agree. If you stay at a Days Inn, you'll get free internet but if you stay at anything classier -- Marriott, Loews -- you'll pay for it. I guess they figure if you can afford to stay there, you can afford to pay for the extras. However, since the Loews hotels are cheaper than the Disney hotels, I just add the price in and forget about it. It still works out to be cheaper than the comparable Disney hotel.

I agree with Mac that most hotels charge for parking. At Disney they just include it in your room rate so that no matter if you have a car or not, you pay for parking. Is internet free at Disney? I know parking and internet are bundled into a resort fee at Disneyland but not sure about WDW. Hotels such as the Peabody in Orlando also charge for parking and internet.

Does the Blue Level of the You First get free internet? That may be an option. I can't remember - I am Gold (one night shy of Platinum on our last vacation before the changeover :guilty: ) on my way down after the end of this year.

Yup. Blue give you free internet. The main difference between Blue and Gold is that with gold you get your welcome gift and that with gold you get your upgrade when you make reservations if available and with blue you get an upgrade upon check-in if available.
