That's right. Not even a baby can stop two boozehounds from throwing down in the Happiest Place on Earth. Especially at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/beerdrinkpoly2-1.jpg

It has been a while since I last wrote a trip report. They are several old reports if you are so inclined. And by so inclined I mean you are serving 20-to-life or on the pooper.

Boozin' & Grubbin' 2004 (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=662939)
Boozin' & Grubbin' 2005 part 1 (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=951394)
Boozin' & Grubbin' 2005 part 2 (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1068434)

Of course you don't have to read them, but if you don't, you may not get some of the inside jokes. Although if you do back track, that is a lot of time you aren't going to get back. Then again, if you are reading about what someone else did on their vacation to Disney World, you've got some time to spare. So you really have no excuses.

In case you have forgotten (don't blame you) or are new to this whole train wreck I call a trip report, this is me and my DH, Kory.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/koryallyga-fl.jpg

We're fairly easy-going folk. It takes very little to entertain us, which is how we ended up with...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/steelerscloseup.jpg

DD 20 months. Steelers fan by birth, cow fan by shower gift.

Scooner Tuna, as I like to call her, is not a fan of Santa...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/averysanta-1.jpg

or sitting correctly in chairs...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/sliddown.jpg

but she loves her Dada...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/averyhuggingdada.jpg

and cheesin' for the camera.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/eatingmessythanksgiving.jpg

It really didn't take much convincing to get DH to agree to Scooner's first trip. And by not much convincing I mean I had to do several wifely favors and I'm not talking about laundry.

But once I had the go ahead, I dove head first into planning. This was our first trip with a tagalong, but more importantly, it was baby's first trip! Completely unlike our other adult trips that included a lot of booze, a lot of cartwheels at the GF, and a lot of grinding at the BET Club. Don't get me wrong, Scooner would be all about groovin' at a dance club, but her fake ID needs some work.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/ga-license-babyt.jpg

Needless to say, this trip would be different and I had lots of questions about touring with an infant that I needed answered.

How do I keep her occupied in line?
Where do we change her diapers?
Can these cup holders accommodate both my margarita and your beer?

Lots of important details to figure out.

So we planned the trip during my school break in October and chose CSR for our home base. We worked with Kathy from Magical Journeys and were able to get a good rate of around $100/night. She's the bestest! We also made arrangements to visit DH's Aunt and Uncle who live near Daytona and stay one night. Free accommodations - right on!

Our plan was to arrive in Daytona Sunday, October 12 and do a little of the ol' hug-eat-play-chitchat-sleep-eat-chitchat-hug business and leave for WDW first thing in the morning. We booked CSR until Thursday the 16th, giving us nearly 3 full days in the parks.

I only made one ADR - a character breakfast at O'hanas. We decided we'd rather eat a lot of food at the festival.

And by food I mean booze.

Sunday, October 12

Kory and I got up around 6 to shower and get last minute things taken care of. Scooner got up not long after, raring to go.

With that hair, she is one song about the letter T away from being a muppet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_averyinbed.jpg

After her makeover...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_onchangingtable.jpg

she had some important words with the dog.

"Now Mama gave me this chapstick to hold while she was changing me because she didn't want my hands in the diaper. But I was thinking that I could give it to you and we could play with it later. Now don't eat it. Ok?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_talkingtodog.jpg

We left our humble home around 9 am, with a minivan packed silly with 60 diapers, 20 toddler outfits, 4 suitcases, 3 laundry baskets of supplies, 2 strollers, 1 pack 'n play, and not near enough sense.

We did pack a DVD and many children’s videos, however. The trip to Daytona is 4 hours - I mean we ain’t total morons.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/videos.jpg

On the trip down, Scooner occupies her time with her videos and toys...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_videotoy.jpg

Kory occupies his time with driving somewhat safely...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_korydriving.jpg

and I occupy my time with Matt, Mike, Mike, Len & Annette. Love a freaking Disney podcast. Shout-out to Pete, John, Corey, Julie & Kevin - love you guys too!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_ipod.jpg

Well as you know from my previous reports (told yooooou), it's not a vacation without a stop at McDonalds. Here Kory gets a McBiscuit, a McDrink and McHeartDisease.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_McDs.jpg

Back on the road and a good time is had by all, as you can see.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_rubberband.jpg

After a long and pricey stop at Target for food and toiletries for the week, we made it to Daytona around 3 pm. We stop for a quick lunch at Taco Bell and scoot on over to the relative's house.

Here Scooner is doing the "play" part of our hug-eat-play-chitchat-sleep-eat-chitchat-hug plan.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/0_averyronnie-1.jpg

We eat an amazing turkey dinner and retire to our quarters for a good night's sleep with glorious dreams of Disney.

And by Disney I mean booze.

Next up: Epcot's Jew Seminar

Loving the report - I have not been to the Food and Wine Festival yet, but am hoping to plan it for 2009 with our friends who have a little girl close in age to our DD3. We have been to Disney with them twice before and we all love to drink around the world (thank goodness for Disney transportation) so it is only fitting we go for the Festival!!! Can't wait to read the rest.

OhMari, I actually got my first pin this year and used it to book that room! :cool1: But then I wanted extra days and let her take over the ressie. That way she could call every week instead of me! She is great though, so easy to work with and didn't cost me a dime. :thumbsup2

I loved Pepper Market! Best food court on property, for sure!

OMG!!!! That is too funny we have the same exact set up for our now 15 month old DS (he's in teh tolddler seat now) we took him for his first 'fest' at 3 weeks, you have no idea how many Guiness' baths that thing got over 2 weeks. DH has some pushing under the influence (PUI) issues. I still have to cash in on my 'I will replace that soggy beer saturated mess of a dipaer bag you're now forced to carry around for the vacay duration' I'm owed. It will not accomodate a 1/2 yard so it's just as well they don't well those anymore. Cleans up nicely BTW.

Sunday, October 12

she had some important words with the dog.

"Now Mama gave me this chapstick to hold while she was changing me because she didn't want my hands in the diaper. But I was thinking that I could give it to you and we could play with it later. Now don't eat it. Ok?"

That picture is precious! We have a basset, too-- they're so good with children!
Also, your writing style is hilarious. Truly a breath of fresh air from the "first we did this. then we did this." TR's. Great!

Well, how the hell-o did I miss this?

Welcome back Ally! I hope you will get back to this soon.....though I know it's not easy with school and baby. You certainly haven't lost your touch!

Lil Vettechicklet is just the cutest! She really looks like Kory, doesn't she? Not that that is anything to complain about with those beautiful eyes!! It does kill me how much they always look like their dads....... I do sense, though, that she's got some of her Mama's spirit and sense of humor!

I must alert the Maelstrom crew that you're here. But you've gotta write some more so I don't look bad, k?

Hi everyone!

Thanks to everyone who has been hanging on with me. My computer has been ravaged by the "Antivirus 2008" malware and I have no idea when it will get fixed. I'm telling you it's a nasty bug. It won't even let you run your anti-virus software or adaware - it's a tricky PIMA!

BUT, I am going this weekend to buy a much desired laptop - so I'll be back online soon. Yay!

I'm on board and can't wait to hear more about your DD's first trip. We're going this May for my DD's first time, she'll be 19 months old so I've been scouring the trip reports for other people's experiences with their little ones. We're planning on staying at CSR too so I'm interested in your thoughts on it. DH is not liking the $$$ food court and long walks to everything BUT the new rooms, queen beds and fridge are all plusses (to me anyways).

Your DD is so precious, I'm jealous of her hair, my DD is still somewhat a baldy. Your DD seems like such a ham unlike my DD who runs (literally) from the camera mosty times. Such a diva. It might have something to do with the fact that I try to take her picture atleast once a day

Sorry to hear about your computer, my desktop also got bit by the antivirus 2008 and we had to do a complete restore, not fun. I just bought a laptop too....just so I can DIS in bed, I'm so lazy :) I am in love with my laptop, I could kiss it.

I remember back in the day when a vacation in Florida meant shooters in a test tube and watching the sun rise over the beer pong table. Now it means a rushed cup of bad coffee and watching the damn sun rise because you have 90 minutes of driving to do.

We get our 3 S's out of the way, wake Scooner - who was not too happy to be out of bed - and do the eat-chitchat-hug leg of our hug-eat-play-chitchat-sleep-eat-chitchat-hug plan.

We are on the road at 7:30 and see the skyline of Orlando by 9. Minutes later, we are greeted by Mr. & Mrs. Big Cheese themselves...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_entrancesign-1.jpg

We drive directly to CSR and I run inside to check-in and choose from my ticket options. And by choose I mean that Sophie's choice was a freakin' cakewalk.

I had been exhausting myself for weeks trying to figure out the best option for us. The room package included tickets, but how many did we need? You could buy just the 3 days, but for only a few bucks more you can have 7 days. And for only a few bucks more than that, you can add no expiration and have them for the next trip. And for a few bucks more than that, you can have 10 days. And for a few more bucks than that, you can get water parks. Even though you've only been to water parks twice in 25 trips, who cares! It's only $50 for 10 days of Kevin Stringer in a speedo.

So you know what I ended up buying. And if I have to choose between my new ticket and Scooner, sorry hon. Clive (as in Owen - my new 10 day, no-expiry, water parks, park-hopper pass) is my new favorite.

Out to the car and off to Epcot!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! We're here!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_parkinglot-1.jpg

We park, yank the stroller out, slap the baby into said stroller, and haul tail toward Epcot. Strollin' and Boozin' 2008 is about to commence!

Once past the turnstiles, we have a giggle as we pass all the fools waiting in a 20-minute line for SE and head right to Innoventions. We never go in there but I had a feeling Scooner would enjoy it. So, we spent some time in there jumping, banging, and...

flashing. She gets that from my side.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_shirtup-1.jpg

We get a picture with old school Mickey...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_koryaveryinnov.jpg

and head out to find our "friend", Beverly. You remember mommy's friend Beverly, right honey? heehee!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_drinkingbev.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_beverly.jpg

Always fun to screw with your children. Am I right, am I right?

Time to leave the Coke plant. After all, there isn't a lot of booze in it.

After we leave Beverly, we run across these folks. Can't remember their names, but they remind me of the Imagination Movers on the Disney Channel.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_band.jpg

Kory and Scooner take a load off and play the old game "You Can Only Play with These Because We're at Disney". Similar to "You Can Only Eat That Because We're at Disney" and "You Can Only Stay up This Late Because We're at Disney".

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_playingwithglasses.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/2_averyglases.jpg

Hot snot, is that the time? 10:59 - we're running late! We should already be in the WS! Can we make up for lost time? I'll guess we'll have to double fist it. Hurry Scooner!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_runningfromball.jpg

We made it over to the WS...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_citiesinwonderland.jpg

and go straight to the F&WF souvenir kiosk. We pick up a gift/debit card and put $75 on it. That should last most people all week. Us? 24 hours. We're not here to look pretty you know.

First stop is Morocco. We dine on a Chicken Brewat Roll and Kory enjoys a Casa Beer.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_morocco.jpg

Not too bad. Spicey, but not so hot that Scooner couldn't enjoy a bite.

Next stop on the tour is Japan where we order the Spicey Tuna Roll and a Kirin.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_sushi.jpg

Yum, yum and more yum. I've only had a better STR at one other place, so this one got high marks from me. Scooner wants no part of my STR, and I could tell she was feeling a bit left out of all the festivities, so I offer her a soy sauce shooter. I appreciate that they put it into a toddler-friendly packet.

Beef Medallions with Cheese Polenta from San Francisco...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_SFsign.jpg

and the Sam Adams Festival Beer rounds out Phase 1 of our 47 Phase Strollin' & Boozin' plan.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_waterandbeer.jpg

On our way to adorable Pearville Fair to frolick in it's fruitiness, we are approached by a CM.

"At 11:15, there is a Jew Seminar for your little one."

"Oh, thanks," I tell him, then turn to Kory. "Wait, did he say Jew seminar? Who goes to a Jew seminar at a wine festival?"

A confused Kory to me, "I hope it's not in Germany."

"I think he said juice. That makes more sense. Wait, who goes to a juice seminar at a wine festival?"

Perplexed, but buzzed so we don't give a flip, we spend a few minutes at the Pearville Fair.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_pearvillefair.jpg

You have no idea how glad I am she was a c-section baby.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_averypear.jpg

Whoa, that soy sauce shooter when right to my head!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_sillymirror.jpg

Kory innocently points out that since we are right next to the Sam Adams beer tasting, it would be a shame not to partake. So I offer to stroll around with Scooner while he tastes some beer. And by offer I mean he ran off while my back was turned.

Up next, more Day 1 - "Mommy, there's a monkey on my back and his name is Cheese Quesadilla!"

10:59am and not in WS? My DH would be appalled. He and a friend's DH (we commonly vacation with, we resemble what it would look like if Clampets and Griswold's were cousins and traveled together) found a place in AK that serves beginning at 9:30am. These are no amatuers.

Memories, on DS#1's 3rd trip at 15 months we had a pic of him standing on the bar of the R&C before it even opened for business for the day. The only reason it took till his 3rd trip was he couldn't stand before then.....

DS is so cute! Is he begging to go back yet? I have been working on Scooner - she knows Mickey Mouse (Mo Mo) and Pooh, but that's as far as we've gotten. I hope after our next trip she'll be crying on the way home so Kory has to book another trip soon!

What was your report from last year?

I think I am one of those to blame for all the changes on this board. Well, me and Melly. :guilty: Our reports were filled with lots of conversations and that didn't set well with others. So reports are closed to keep the popular ones from constantly getting bumped and taking up the first page. But if you want to continue a report, you can always do that on the community board. There are several over there!

I'm so glad you found your notes and finally started your TR!

Your daughter is beautiful! A perfect combination of the two of you.

If this was really a "first" trip for Scooner wouldn't you have gone to the MK first? ;)

Thank you! I'm so glad she got my curly hair and his blue eyes. That's why I married him!

Ha, someone finally noticed! We figured that since she didn't know one park from the next, we could start with Epcot. But we did spend two mornings at MK so there is plenty of magical goodness to come.

I have green eyes and my wife was really hoping that our children would have "colored" eyes. Well, they both have brown eyes like their mother.
Those darn recessive genes don't always come through.:rotfl:

Good luck

We must have strong recessive genes in my family. My sister is brown-eyed, married a brown-eyed guy and they have a child with the most gorgeous blue eyes. If she didn't look like her daddy, I'd say my sister's a floozy!

:goodvibes Great update! Did you enjoy staying at CSR this time? Where are you staying on your upcoming trip?

Too funny about being glad she's a C-Section baby :). I'm hoping when I have kids they either don't inherit my big ol' head or that they're C-Section as well.

And I hope you and Clive have many happy days together ;)

I was successful in getting that malware off my parent's computer. I downloaded a copy of Spyware Doctor. If you can't get a IE window to come up, download it on your laptop to a thumbdrive or you can buy a copy at Best Buy or online on CD. When you get the software installed on the corrupt machine, then do the deepest scan you can. The spyware is in the registry and it may take a couple of scans to completely get rid of it.

You can also use Adaware from lavasoft but again you will need to do a really deep scan on your harddrive.

HTH--Loving the reports!

Woohoo! I totally dropped the proverbial PM ball when we were talking before your trip, and randomly remembered today that I never read your report. Thinking that, once again, I would be late to the party, I ventured over to try and dig said report out of its grave..... only to find your internet has prevented you from doing much of it. Sweet! I know i was thinking about taking the big stroller bc it has cupholders. The umbrella strollers don't have them...do they?? We haven't bought one yet. DS will either be 16 mos or 28 mos depending on when we decide to go.

Very funny report.

Some umbrella strollers have cupholders, some don't. The ones that do, usually don't work that well, though. We bought one of these to attach to our stroller, and it works great! :thumbsup2

Since we've had to go to a double stroller we've figured out a way to get everyone a cup holder......we now 'drive' a P&T Sport, the name is deceiving there's nothing sporty about it as far as vehicles go but the wee men need a ride. We have a BOB console at the handle bar and 2 Valco Baby Universal cup holders. Now any of them will hold any size beverage conveyance including the tall F&WF cups w/o spilling. The Valco holders are awesome for holding the wider Solo type cups so they aren't tippy, so baby juice or mommy juice we're all good.

Egh correction unless DH is PUI. ;)

Yes we did enjoy CSR! It's a beautiful resort and we had a great room with perfect mousekeeping. More on that later. :) This next trip we are staying at Bonnet Creek, which is on property but not owned by WDW. We got a 2-bed which we are excited about. We just need that extra space for Scooner.

(you can thank snow day in southern GA for this installment!)

While Kory "samples" beer like athletes "sample" Gatorade on game day, Scooner and I walk around the USA pavilion enjoying the weather. It's easily 90 degrees out, but I'm loving it. I'm so cold-natured a lifetime in Hell really doesn't sound so bad to me. Which works out great if you know anything at all about me and my heathen lifestyle.

So Scooner and I walk over to the Kidkot station to check it out. The CM working there is a fairly young gal who compliments me on Scooner. She says she's got 2 yr old youngster at home so she's fond of this age group. I like to think that Scooner is just that cute and one day a modeling scout will snatch her up and I can live high on the hog. Ah, dreams.

We chat about her Kidkot station and I learn the ins and outs of it. And by learn I mean I half-listen while wrangling a monkey.

Eventually, the CM gives us a mask, stamps it, and attaches a thinga-ma-bob. I really don't know what it is. Like I was said, I was half-listening. Once you have kids, you hear, talk, and even go to the bathroom halfway.

She runs, and I chase her over to the fence surrounding the lagoon. A CM approaches me (oh crap - Scooner's antics are getting us kicked out) and after a quick glance, I realize he's Photopass. He offers to take our picture with my camera and I take him up on it. Just mommy and Scooner!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_meandavery.jpg

Afterwards, Scooner and I walk back over to the USA fountain so Daddy can see us when he gets out. While there, we spend our time mobile; her running, me chasing. Several back-breaking minutes later, I finally give up and break out the big guns...

a leash camoflauged as a monkey backpack.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_monkey.jpg

Yeah, I'm that mom, I don't care what you say. That thing keeps her safe and close, and will hold a 12 pack of Natty Lite and a box of Swisher Sweets. Cuz that's how Scooner rolls. And by Scooner, I mean Daddy.

As Scooner enjoys her new monkey friend, aptly named Monkey as we aren't terribly creative folk, Daddy shows up acting like he was never gone.

"Let's head and get some real food", he says. "We live in the US, and I ain't wasting my $79 per person on cheeseburgers, fried ice cream, and funnel cakes". We call that Tuesday back home.

Scooner bids farewell to Monkey, hops back into daddy's beer holder, and we mosey around the WS, continuing our trek toward Mexico.

"I said let's go, woman! Some of us are hungry and this watered down juice ain't cutting it!"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_sillyface.jpg

We stop in Australia and have some prawns. Very good times, but no picture.

As we round the corner, we see the bridge is up and has stopped traffic. We get an upclose view of the process, which is pretty neat.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_bridgeup.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_bridgedown.jpg

Mexico is our next visit and I go straight to the booze stand. I order a Strawberry Margarita, which is great because it doesn't have a strong tequila taste. Kory took a sip and said it is just ok because it doesn't have a strong tequila taste.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_korywithdaiq.jpg

While I push Scooner, he runs over to the food kiosk and orders us a quesadilla and himself a Dos Equis.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_quesabeer.jpg

Holy frozen poop on a popsicle! That quesadilla is some good stuff. Oh man. Ok, so it goes something like one small bite for Kory, four large ones for myself. I give Scooner a bite which was a mistake. She starts clawing for more. I have no choice but to growl at her. To prevent a mother-daughter battle over a glorified grilled cheese, Kory goes back to get a few more and heck, another beer for himself. With beers, margaritas and/or quesadillas in everyone's hands, a collective, gluttonous sigh is released from our group.

After our meal, we park the stroller, add Monkey back into the group and head into Mexico.

Scooner poses for a few mandatory I'm-in-Mexico pics.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_inmexico.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_averyinhat.jpg

My three Amigos.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_dadainhat.jpg

Kory removes the hat that has donned many a vacationer's stanky head and we scoot over to the ride and hop on. Scooner's first ride!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_meandaveryonmedride.jpg

By the time we float into port, it's apparent to everyone in the park, and a few in DHS, that it's time for a new diaper. Geez, girl! You definitely get that from your daddy!

Back outside, we find our stroller, monkey goes back into storage, and we stroll Scooner over by the water for a quick looksie. Somewhere, somehow, a red pacifier appears. She shrieks with joy, "pi pi!", and promptly sticks it into her mouth. Daddy and I are taken aback. I must mention that Scooner never really took to pacifiers, but has seen them at the sitter. I guess I bought a few back in the day just in case and this one was still in the stroller, lying in wait since 2007. Anyway, without hesitation she knew just where it was supposed to go. But due to inexperience, not how it was supposed to go.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_overexposedcloseup.jpg

We stroll over to the Baby Care Center which is just over the bridge in FW. This is our first BCC experience so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. We leave the stroller outside, grab her Diapees and Wipees and we all go inside.

A pleasant and soft-spoken CM greets us at the door and tells us changing tables are in the far room. We walk back and there were about 4 or 5 large changing tables - big enough for pre-schoolers to nap in - with paper sheets on top. I change Scooner, dump the diaper, and throw away her paper sheet. I run into the big girl bathroom and by the time I come out, the paper sheet has already been replaced and is ready for the next stinky. I was very impressed with this place!

"Is this an attraction, mommy? It's kinda stinks. Get it, stinks?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_averyinbcc.jpg

Monkey back into the picture, Mommy and Scooner walk back toward the WS. But where shall we go next?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_walkingwithmonkey.jpg

Scooner, any ideas?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_readingbrochure.jpg

She says Italy for the sexy men, so with a kiss from daddy, we are off.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_leaningback.jpg

If you went back and read the first report like you were supposed to, you would remember this picture from Kory's first trip to Epcot. It's tiny, but you get the drift...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/koryitaly-1.jpg

In starting a tradition, I made sure to get a snapshot of the two of them. Aww.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_koryandaveryitaly.jpg

Back in the stroller, Scooner poses. Good thing big glasses are in this season.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_myglasses.jpg

On our continued walk around the WS...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_strollinandboozin.jpg

we hear some loud music coming from Louisiana. A gated area houses a band and they are jamming! Definitely a Mardi Gras vibe.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_singerinLA.jpg

what, who, huh? Do I see people giving away beads? Oh, I need some of those beads! How can I get some with the least amount of effort possible?

I pimp out my husband and daughter.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_dancingforbeads.jpg

Score! All the beads and none of the work. I like this having kids gig.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_gotbeads.jpg

They had so much fun dancing, but a dark cloud soon casts a shadow on our good time. I mean literally - a storm is coming. Run for your lives!

We don't even make it to France before it starts sprinkling, and by the time we get to the UK, its pouring. We hide in the doorway of the shop with a few other people and wait. And wait.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_raininUK.jpg

Up next, long short lines and short long lines. I'm not sure what that means yet, but I'll figure it out.

We're doing the 5K, too! We'll be the ones with the honkin' double jogger which houses two adorable little girls that you won't be able to see because mandated helmets (seriously?) don't really come in "infant", so - evidenced by the fact that my oldest just fell over when we put hers on - they don't fit.

Seriously - two giant purple heads, on small babies toppling out of said stroller for safety's sake.... that'll be us! I hope we run into you guys! :yay: Would you mind catching one of my girls if the weight of the helmet drags her away from us? :confused3

LOL, I will be the one at the 5k with the not quite 1 yr old that you wont see because of his HUGE blue helmet. Lime green stroller! See you guys there!

Feel better scooner!

First of all - I am soooo jealous you had a snow day yesterday. Just had to get that out of the way.

Secondly - the picture of Scooner and her daddy dancing for beads is absolutely adorable. And as always I was cracking up through the entire post. Your TR postings are well worth waiting for!

I didn't realize you were going back in two days! I'm heading down to WDW next Thursday, so I'll just miss y'all. Have a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear more about Scooner's monkeytastic disney adventures.

Have fun at the 5K. Don't forget your Camelbak filled with Natty Lite. Or maybe you should fill it with Bud Ice so you have a reason to run towards something tasty! :lmao:

Once you have kids, you hear, talk, and even go to the bathroom halfway.
::yes:: But you're one up on me - I STILL haven't figured out the Kidcot deal! :rotfl:

Mexico is our next visit and I go straight to the booze stand. I order a Strawberry Margarita, which is great because it doesn't have a strong tequila taste. Kory took a sip and said it is just ok because it doesn't have a strong tequila taste.
I'm afraid I'm with Kory on this one. BUT... the Cantina's margaritas generally pack a better punch! :thumbsup2

Anyway, without hesitation she knew just where it was supposed to go. But due to inexperience, not how it was supposed to go.

Yay! Another update! :thumbsup2 Loved the update & hearing about the baby care center at Epcot since we'll be using those for the first time in December. :) Scooner is such a cutie!! :goodvibes Love the upsidedown binky - our little one is constantly doing that, too -she loves to yank it out of her mouth, but isn't so good at getting it back in at this point...LOL

I hope she's feeling better asap & it doesn't impact your trip at all! Maddie just got her first cold last week & it definitely wasn't fun. Can't wait for the next update!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate all the comments, even though it's tough to reply to them all. They make me smile and very happy. :goodvibes

First, Scooner is feeling better. She is on antibiotics for a nasty sinus infection, but it seems to be clearing up some. Disney, here we come! Yay!

Second, I have some good news for me! Remember how I haven't been able to get my other computer fixed, and all my WDW pics are on there? Well I found my memory card from my trip and they are all still on there! So I downloaded all 973 pictures onto my new computer and they are ready to be formatted and uploaded to the web. A job in itself, wooo! At least I can continue with my report and have pictures to show.

Third, more good news for me. I just finished an 18-page paper for my grad class (if you think one trip report installment takes me a while, imagine 18-pages of education crap!). Anyway, once I submit it tomorrow and take a (hopefully short) final, I'll be free to write more. Double yay!

This next trip we are staying at Bonnet Creek, which is on property but not owned by WDW. We got a 2-bed which we are excited about. We just need that extra space for Scooner.

May I ask if you booked directly through Wyndham to stay at Bonnet Creek, or are you renting from a timeshare owner?
I am interested in staying there for our next Disney trip. Would love to hear your thoughts on the resort!

Congrats! I went 3 yrs without Disney and it was tooooough! But going with her was great. A lot of freakin' work. I mean it's not even near the same type of vacation. But it's enjoyable in a different way. Although right now we are dealing with a napless 2-yr old, so it ain't great right this minute. :rotfl:

We rented points from someone on the boards. She booked us a 2-bed deluxe and so far I really like it! I don't feel like I'm not staying at WDW, which is a huge sell for me. I've always stayed onsite and I didn't want to lose any magic.

So we're waiting on the rain to stop...

…an umbrella. Genius!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/225.jpg

After a few minutes of solid rain, we discuss our afternoon options. We decide that after it lets up enough, we'll make a run for it and get our free Disney Visa character picture. No free beer seminar at UK this time, so we need this free picture! We brave the rain and make it to Innoventions half-soaked. Told you, half everything with kids.

We find a line, but not a bad one. Maybe 8 people? So I send Scooner off with Kory to run around and play but ask them to stay close as we'll be going in soon.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_inlineforcharacters.jpg

25 minutes, 5 rummages through my uninteresting diaper bag, 2 eavesdropped conversations, and 1 internal debate concerning Bai Ling later, I've moved 2 feet.

Doing some disney-style recon, I ask the lady in front of me if she's done this before. Yes, she says, everytime we come. Which is every day of their monthly trips to Epcot. That's a dedicated mommy! Anyway, she says the line looks short but actually takes a while because each family spends 5-10 minutes with the characters. I contemplate bailing, as Fastpass has spoiled me something bad, but decide to hold tight and take one for the team. I hate a damn sport.

I look for DH and Scooner and they are just off to the side playing. She found a phone so Scooner "calls" Grandma and Pap to tell them all about her trip.

"Well I flashed people. And then got beads."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_averyonphone.jpg

About 45 minutes after I got into what seemed to be a pretty short line, our turn is next and we are ushered in to see the stars of such shows, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Disneyland Sing-a-long". Scooner is wide-eyed and rodent-struck. She stares at them blankly while they do their best to get a reaction. Waving, dancing, card tricks. Nothing. So we skip all the pleasantries and get right to the good stuff.

Scooner's first character pic. And it was free! Freeeee!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/016.jpg

We bid goodbye to Mickey and friends and decide it's time to take a load off back at our resort. On our way out, we drop in Spaceship Earth and enjoy the newest version. It's no surprise that after a long day, this dark, relaxing ride is all someone someone needs to fall asleep on my shoulder. Oh and Scooner falls asleep, too.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_napping.jpg

Hop in the car and head to CSR. We rounded the way around the resort to Building 8A which was not too far from the main building. In fact, we noticed our building was right next to a bus stop, which is super cool.

We pulled up and unloaded Scooner and our belongings. And by our belongings I mean hers.

Our room was on the second floor facing the water, which was a pretty nice view. You could see the main building off into the distance and to our far right was the Dig Site. All in all, a pretty great location.

I take a few mandatory room pics for the DIS...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_roomview1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_roomview3.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/239.jpg

...and find my first towel animal! 25 trips and this is the only one I've gotten. So those of you hoping and wishing and praying, don't be sad if you don't get one your first trip. Or second. Or third. Or fourth. Or fifth...oh my. This could take a while.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/241.jpg

We unpack and assemble the pack ‘n play for Scooner. We put it in the closet, which is also where she sleeps when we go to my sister’s beach house. Lots of good material for her shrink when she is older. Good enough to go on vacation, but don't expect your own bed, girlie!

So here are Scooner's accommodations. I'm figuring we can pull off this arrangement maybe one more time and then we'll have to give her the extra bed that's used as a chair that's used as a closet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_roomview2.jpg

Actually, that little space curtained off was a great solution for our privacy problem. She needs it and by golly nothing is worse than a cranky baby. Except Simon Cowell's butt-cut hairdo. Now that's hellacious!

It’s 4:00 and time for a nap, so we lay Scooner down in steerage and shut the curtain so she is not tempted to watch us unpack and eat Cheeze-its. But our noise keeps her up which I believe is #1 in the Baby 10 Commandments, right before "Thou Shalt Not Wake a Sleeping Baby" and "Thou Shalt Breastfeed if Only to Lose Those Extra Baby Pounds". So instead, we lay down, turn the tv on low, and all take a nap.

At 6:30, Scooner is still asleep and we discuss our options. We'd like to head back to Epcot for some more strollin' and boozin' along with a little grubbin'. We decide to wake her up, despite the obvious. It is not good times for us. She cries and whines but it's nothing a little Mickey can't help. "Mi Mo!" she calls. So we flip on the television and let him work his magic. She may be a one-word gal, but she knows all the right ones.

After a dinner and bath for her, we load up into the car and head over to the BW where we park. I know, I'm a bad person. I'll surely go to hell. Or the Theme Parks Board to a refillable mug thread.

It's just finished raining when we arrive so we make sure to grab the umbrella, and head out. The light reflecting in the raindrops reminds me how much I adore the Boardwalk.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/246.jpg

It used to be my favorite resort, and I spent many trips here. Even had drinks with Joe Namath at the bar once. That was just before he hit on the sportscaster. Which by the way annoyed me to no end. You never hit on me, Joe! I may not know sports, but I will drink my entire drink, I guarantee it!

We get to Epcot and head around toward France. I grab a Grand Marnier Slush and a Cheese Plate. Heeeeeaven! We continue walking around until we find a spot where we can watch Illuminations in Italy. Scooner sees her opportunity and begs to get up. I let her run around and Kory hunts down some food for himself.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/251.jpg

Children are ankle biters and stinky-cheese stealers!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/252.jpg

Scooner notices the moon and squeals, "Mooooo!". So sweet.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/249.jpg

Kory comes back with a Quesadilla for him and Scooner to share, and a beer for himself.

Her first Illuminations!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/254.jpg

After the show, we lazily stroll and Scooner notices Spaceship Earth lit up. She points and enthusiatically says, "Baaaaaaw!" I repeat, "Yes honey. It's a ball! With awful green writing. Ick."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1_siemens.jpg

Back to the BW...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/264.jpg

and in the elevator, Scooner gives the impression of fatique. Yay!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/265.jpg

While Kory takes a potty break, I make Scooner pose with a freakish' flower chair.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/vettechick99/disney%2008/1-flowerchair.jpg

She nearly falls asleep in the car, but it doesn't last. Once back at the room, we put our jammies on and get ready for bed. But apparently Scooner is practicing her moves in hopes of earning more beads for Mommy. That's my girl!

Ours wasn't either. We stayed at CSR too, but got a handicapped room (not sure if that was a hint...:confused3) so there was no curtained closet to put Alex in.

Where do you put a toddler to sleep when there is no closet?

We had to put the PnP right next to our bed, and he only slept in it the 1st night. Then he figured out that he could climb out of it and slept in the king bed with us the rest of the week. :sad2: And we never did the co-sleeping thing before, he probably just figured the big cozy bed looked way better than the dinky PnP which was even smaller than the one he has at home.

Can't say I blame him, but it wasn't nice waking up with a stinky toddler boy foot in my face, my ribs, my stomach, etc etc

:lmao: We aren't co-sleepers either so anytime we are in the same room together, everyone is awake. She's disturbed by us, we're anxious with her in the room. I really think co-sleeping makes you more of a Nervous Nelly!

Anyway, I have the solution to your closet question. Stay tuned...

Awesome! Another installment :rotfl: Thanks for makin' my day, Chick. I have to agree about the Cowell's butt-cut (I have another smart *&% term courtesy of Vettechick99 )

Thanks! You made my day. :)

"Stinky Toddler boy foot" -- I love it. My boy has had it since he was a NEWBORN! Geez, I swear he was born with stinky feet.

You are so luckly she slept in the PnP!!! Our first trip with our daughter when she was two, we thought we'd do the same thing. :rotfl::rotfl:

We gave up and let her sleep with us (luckily we had a king size bed!) for the first time. For some reason DH always got the good end of her - I always ended up with the feet or the butt in my face.

Vettechick! I remember you from the baby boards way back when I was pregnant with my little guy!! Nice to see you again....Scooner is a princess and sooooooooooo cute!! :lovestruc

LOVE reading your trip report! Ya, going down there with a little one is very, very different as compared to previous adult-only trips!! We took Brady at 4 months and 13 months...and are taking him this September when he is 25 months! Lots of work, but totally worth it!

The sleeping arrangments are always tricky. Brady will sleep in the pack-n-play, thank god. We put it in the closet at the BWV...his own little "room". There is just NO WAY he would sleep being able to see us!! Here is a pic!

He is so cute! I'm glad someone else does the closet sleeping arrangement. Honestly, tell me a child who wouldn't love having a closet to themselves. Throw a sleeping bag in there and call it a fort. Voila!

Thanks, we were there the one wee a year its refurbished, thats just our luck:rotfl:

boo on that! If you can go the first week of March, it's perfect! Nice weather and low, LOW crowds. Sweet!

I laughed so hard at your writing style and normally stay away from TRs with kids (I'll mount that battle when it gets here!) but your girl is beautiful and you are freaking hilarious.

ETA: I hit 500 posts with this yayyyyyy i'm now a dis veteran!

Everytime we find a closet big enough for a PnP we stick DS #2 in it that kid likes his dark.

When we go to DH's family condo in St. Petes we have DS#1 on his Aero Bed on the porch and the baby in the 2nd bedroom closet in a PnP. Now it's not as bad as it sounds but when people ask what we do with them there you get the sideways glance everytime.

Since we always start our March trips in St. Pete's at the beach we have to drive to WDW for the following week. Last month on the way we had to pull over on to the off ramp to allow DS#1 'unload' in the wee potty. That kid can go from camel to mach 10 evacuation in about 3.5 seconds so when he says it's time it's TIME!!!! I'm a bit surprised DHS let's us out of FL.

I was tooooootally going to post today. I swear! Of course not an update. Yet. :) I am almost done with school (7 days!) and I have arranged for the sitter to watch Scooner everyday for a few hours this summer so I can:

1. take 2 graduate classes, and

2. finish my reports!

(Holy cow I am slower than Ryan Seacrest announcing the Bottom 3...)

Well, I have been dreading this moment for some time now, but I guess I can't delay it any longer. :guilty:

I have to put off finishing this trip report indefinitely (at the pace I was going, indefinitely is not much longer :lmao: ). In all seriousness, there are some personal things going on in the vettechick household that don't make writing a funny, light-hearted trip report easy for me. I won't go into details, they aren't important (and don't worry - everyone is safe and alive and Scooner is perfect as always. :goodvibes ).

I hate dissapointing any of you, but I know you guys will understand. I appreciate your support. You are my family away from home, and it means a lot to me.
