Podcast Animal Crossing Friend Code Exchange Thread

If you want to swap codes with other DIS Unplugged listeners, here are some basic guidelines I came up with. It's unofficial (unless Pete wants to make it so). We had a volunteer of someone to help keep an eye on things here, so we'll try to police ourselves. You can always delete a friend, if you feel you made a bad match. Game rules state that you have to be on each other's lists to have access to each other. If a person removes you, then it blocks access.


Don't post your code and info for personal safety reasons.
Post an email here to let people know you will respond to PMs with codes.
When you PM a reply, let people know what time zone you are in (hours of play) and if you are actually able to accept visitors or if you would just like to exchange mail. Exchanging mail is a way to set up a foreign fruit orchard in your town and increase your "quickie" profits - Each foreign fruit pays 500 Bells. Visiting another town allows you access to different items at Nook's, as well as different turnip prices. (I don't know yet if taking the new town's bus gets you to a completely different Redd's or not - I imagine it might...)



The basic info you will need to send in a PM to exchange codes is the following:

Friend Code
Player Name
Town Name

This info has to be entered at the time you enter the friend in your list.

Yes - your town has 4 houses for purchase (meaning you can create up to 4 characters). My husband has one house near the ocean and I have another in town. You can't play at the same time, but you can work together. i will clean the beach of shells and pile up the cheap ones in case he needs the extra money. I will show him my wallpaper and stuff i get and ask him if he wants me to send him it.

Can someone with a bit more experience tell us how to send mail out of town? I know a couple of us are having trouble with it and we're not sure why. What are the requirements for sending mail to another town or getting a friend (who's code is already registered in your list) to appear in the mail list.

A quick tutorial for us to reference would be great.

Another on would be on how to get your friend code. (So everything folks need is here in one spot!)

To get your friends code you need to:

Have Wifi
Complete Nooks Job
Go to your Gates
Talk to Copper


PS: Have working internet and Make sure your Wii is connected to the internet or you wont be able to get a friend code. (If you try to connect it'll give you an error and a Code # that you can search at Nintendo's website)

For Sending Letters:

Buy anytype of Letter Paper
Go to your pockets and choose it to write one
In you Upper Left Corner there are 2 House tabs, Choose the 2nd one with the arrow
Then choose the person you want to send it to
Go to the Civic Center and talk to the Pelly, on the Post Office Side
Choose Send Mail then Choose Other Town


Registering Friends:

Get friend code, Town name, Character name
Make sure it's correct including the Capitalization, Spaces, Numbers, etc.

Can we ask if you would be open to editing it later to add additional info, as we find troubleshooting solutions that affect friend codes, sending mail, and leaving town? Also, can you throw in that if your internet is not working correctly, you will not be able to be issued a code (happened to a couple of us newbies). You will get a message to go to the Nintendo website and look up a specific code #.

Also, do you have any more info on what it takes to get the new friend's name in the letter address list? Do you need to visit them or their town first, before you can send them mail? Both PrincessBelle39 and I are having an issue where we have each other on our list, but we can't send letters. We also both had our gates open, but it didn't see her town on my list for visiting or for mail.

AAHHH....Prince George...such a quiet little area. I used to hang out in that area a lot while going to Richard Bland. I had a lot of friends who lived there. That is too cool.

Okay. Delurking after several YEARS to join this thread. I'm completely addicted to this game after only three days, all due to reading the boards here. My DH finally got sick of me talking about it and went out and bought it for me. My town has peaches and I'm growing a coconut tree (just planted it today). Any advice on watering, etc. so that the tree will grow. It's a little sprout right now. As I said, it's only been three days and I'm still learning. I do have my friend code.

I never watered my trees. But you can if you want to be on the safe side.(once a day is perfectly fine) If your tree doesn't grow after several days it wont at all so you'll have to plant a new one somewhere else.

The only things I water are flowers though.

FYI - make sure you get on today for the New Year's Countdown Celebration and go to Town Hall and see the Mayor - he will be giving you Party Poppers. You can keep going back to get more and more, too! Just don't leave the scene or do anything else. Then you can go away for a while and do it again. I stocked an entire dresser page full of them to save and use as gifts.:thumbsup2

(PS - Poppers are only worth 30 Bells - I checked by trying to sell one.)

Still not found out my friend code (been busy last few days and DW is playing at the moment - the big new years countdown is cool and Tortimer just gave her a party popper :lmao:) but will respond to PM's etc when i get it sorted :)

I know what you mean about slingshots... had one float right by my nose yesterday....

Also, any good hints for getting to your net quicker to get the little spiders in the trees? Haven't been able to manage shaking a tree while holding the net.

Here is a tip:

Go to your Pockets
Click on the letter on your right hand corner
Move any equipment except the Net to any of the letters in there.(If you don't have enough letters then go to your house and drop them off there)
Exit everything and then click on the left or right directional buttons and the net will pop up
If you select Down it'll go away.


PS: If you don't have enough pocket space the above is a good trick to get more temporarily.

I haven't caught any bugs but I think the spider just slips down a bit on it's web if you bump into the tree.(Or it might be a different bug I forget)

Ooh, this looks like fun. I have apples in my town... I haven't set up my friend code yet, though, because none of my wii-owning friends have the game. :blush:

Woohoo. I sent mail to all people in my town with an apple attached to each of them. In return they sent me presents. I got some clothes etc but best of all I got peaches and coconuts.

The person who owns the town cannot see the conversations that their vistor has with the residents of their town. This includes shopping trips to Nook's and the Able Sisters. You will see them change the wallpaper and try on clothes, but you won't know what the heck they are doing.
Etiquette - it is polite to ask the town's owner if you may buy something. This rule applies to fishing, picking from tress, etc.
Always load your pockets with fruit and a gift before heading out. You just never know.
Also, since it was New Year's Day - I spoke with the town mayor at Firemanx's town and got a 2nd NYD shirt! How cool was that! One to keep and one for emergency cash or a gift.


Other tips -

You can't catch a bus or save your game when your gate is open.
If your pockets are full, it's okay to run home and come back with empty pockets, gifts, extra cash - just ask first if it's okay with the town owner.
You can donate to someone else's museum.


Make sure you spell your name correctly when you give it out. (For those of you that have mine - the L in Lily is capitalized! - :rolleyes1 )

Hey there, I have AC on the DS but DH insisted we got it for he Wii :lmao:

We just got back from going to get it - the store had people queueing all over the place I think it took 30mins to get served :scared1: But we took in a couple of old games/ones we don't play and got it for about half price :banana: :cool1:

Before you can get a code you have to do all of the tasks that Nooks wants you to do. When you have finished, go into the area where you can leave or where your friends enter. Then you must ask Cooper/Copper (can't remember which one) for a friend code. He'll give you one. Then you need to let your friends know your name, your city, and your code.

I got it on Friday, my DH is making fun of me because I got it without telling him. I was on for while on Saturday night, but my husband started playing with the router settings just after I opened the gates. Of course, network went down and the game kicked me out when the connection was cut... I had just caught a centipede for the first time and I lost it!!!!:sad2:
Yesterday I was only able to connect for a while to buy turnips, I was tired and went to be at 8PM with my daughter... Oh well! Same thing happened on Friday!:rolleyes:

Okay, my town has been going for almost a month now. Of course, everyone who knows me knew that I would never allow my trees to be all willy-nilly. I'm more than halfway through my deforesting and replanting to get all of my trees in nice straight rows.

Our town will soon be the perfect place regardless of what Pelly says over at the Town Hall. We have all the fruits including coconuts. I'm in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) and can usually be found on the Wii either with the gate open or traveling in the early evenings (5 PM - 9 PM). Drop on by for a visit but watch out for falling trees. I still have not got those trees just where I want them, yet.

If you go to the gate (behind the the bus stop) and talk to the guy inside on the right he will give you your code (one of the options) then just PM someone you want to visit/visit you your character name, town name and friend code.

Then I think once you have theirs you go to the Town Hall and enter their details (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) :thumbsup2

Then you have to meet up by going through the gate or they come to you :faint:

Actually, I don't think you have to go to Town Hall. At the bottom of your screen you should see a heart. If I remember correctly that is where you "register" your guests. AND make sure you spell everything correctly, including CAPS.

Troops DD11, DS8 and DD6 are all fans of Animal Crossing. They have pears and just planted a couple of apple trees.
Obviously they are on PM mid-week and various times at the week-end. Allow for time difference eg GMT.

Hi Quirky - welcome to our little group! Unfortunately, to send mail, you need to visit that person's town first or have them visit you. We play at wierd times on the weekends, so we can exchange codes. That way you can maybe hit us early morning our time (we're in California) and then try to go from there. I also know we have at least one person in your area that was on the exchange board. I have yet to play with her, due to the time difference. She's in Bittern. PM me and I'll hook you two up!
