Anyone heard about the new processing fee for packages at WDW??

It may apply only to the resorts that have a separate business shipping center (the resorts with attached convention centers) so it may apply at BWV, BCV, and BLT, but not SSR, OKW, AKV or VWL. The OP of that thread stayed at CSR, which has a separate contracted shipping/receiving center for convention guests.

If, however, WDW has centralized and farmed out its entire receiving department WDW wide, then it may apply to all resorts, including DVC.

Thanks for the heads up! We stayed at BCV from 12/12 to 12/20 and don't recall getting charged any fee for the packages I shipped in advance or the FedEx'd stuff sent to DH in the middle of our trip. I wonder if weI just missed the fee implementation. This is a bummer, as we have been shipping one or two boxes in advance of our stay (including ordering stuff from Amazon) for three years in a row now to cut down on luggage. We did use our Owner's Locker for the first time on this trip (and that is the reason we didn't have to ship a package back home at the end of the stay).

The post on the other message board stated that the fee is only applied for shipping services such as USPS, Fed Ex, and UPS not grocery delivery or OL.....in fact it was stated over and over again that it's just for shipped packages.

Hmmmm....that would stink....I usually give a 5 dollar tip...don't know if I'll do both.

I while back someone reported that they were charging for packages for convention guests.....I hope this is not for everyone now.

Oh well.....still worth it for 5 bucks.....don't like the nickel and diming though.

I think Chuck S is right. As you might imagine, this hit my radar screen when one of our Members pointed out the other thread to me. I just happened to be at several resorts yesterday(!) and asked the front desk manager at one of the DVC resorts about it. They had heard nothing. So I think it's the charge at convention resorts that's been there for a while and is not something new.

At the resorts, incoming packages and incoming luggage (and Owner's Lockers) are handled in different ways. Packages go to the front desk while luggage and Lockers go through bell services.

Well hopefully that would make it a fact then ( since it was stated over and over again ) .....

And as John from OL said, if it is the shipping center charge at the convention resorts, this is not new, It has been in place for some time.
