Anyone out there a Weight Watcher? I'm thinking about joining again (yet again!) and it's been a couple of years. Do they still have the Core plan or is it all points? What's new with the Millenia (?) plan this year?
Also, what do you think is the best way to go regarding cost?
Thanks.

I am also looking at this plan and would like some info. I found that the At Home plan gives me everything I will ned to follow either the Points plan or the Core Plan, without going to meetings forever and paying that price or having to be a member of their special web site.....I find there are tons of web sites with helpful info without having to pay....it certainly all sounds good as I type it, now to put it into action!

Do you mean the Momentum plan? I was wondering the same thing but yes they still have core and if I would you I would try to do it yourself. Go to ww.weightwatchers.com and get info from their message boards it is better than going to the classes. If you find someone to bond with you can chat each day about your weight and it is free. We could start a thread on here although it would be better on the WISH board and just check in w/eachother and possibly it would help. Who knows. I am sick of paying WW and then not keeping it off. I have a copy of the core and I am going to start with that. I had lost 25 on my own a couple of yeras ago but I kept off only 15.

I know I can get a discount on WW online through my health insurance rewards program. It's something to look into. There's also a great free website, Sparkpeople.com, with lots of advice and support.

I am a Lifetime member who has gained some weight back :rotfl2: (all of it actually). I was chatting with a WW leader the other day and she said that the Momentum plan is basically the regular plan but with more emphasis on the good healthy guidelines. Also, she said that WW doesn't want people using all of their points to snack on 100 calorie packs instead of filling up on fruits, veggies, etc. That's all I know...I too am trying to decide on what I want to do...

The momentum plan is a combination of the Core and Flex plans. There is no more "core" and "flex". The momentum plan focuses on eating the good foods (formally "core") and counting your points.
I love the meetings and WW has been great for me. I've lost 53 lbs. to date and am 3 lbs. away from my goal and lifetime status (which is free!). The best plan is to pay the $39 a month and get the Etools. You can also pay by the week (I don't know what the rate is anymore) or to pay for 10 weeks at a time for a small discount, neither of those include the online Etools though.

The new plan is called Momentum. It's basically the old points plan, with the option of going over to "Filling foods" (i.e. Core:rolleyes: ) on Week 6. Weight Watchers is now emphasizing to points peoplethat everyone needs to include as many "Filling foods"(aka Core foods) in their diet as they can, so that they'll feel full and less deprived, and teaching points people about being aware of how full they are. If you don't like to count, you can just eat Filling Foods and not count them.
The biggest change for me (I'm a maintaining liftimer:yay: ) is that AP points - the points you earn for exercise - don't have to be used the day they're earned anymore. You can roll them over and eat them any time in the week they were earned. This makes me a bit more sensible and steady on my eating.
If you join the week of New Year's or anytime in the month of January - be forewarned that meetings will be packed and busy. Come early and be prepared to wait.

I was thinking of starting again....I really feel bad being overweight. I'm actually borderline for being overweight for my height....but I'm a bit short so it really takes it's toll on me.....WW has been the only thing that has ever worked on me and it's easy to do.
I already purchased a few cookbooks and when I do my monthly grocery shopping I'm only writing down meal plans that incorporate those books/recipes, I think I'm going to go back and do the 39.00 plan with eTools too, that was the best plan for me.

I love Weight Watchers! I've been on every diet known to man and WW is the only plan that has ever worked for me. It's just soooo sensible and really is a new way of eating, and not a "diet". I joined the Monday after Easter last year and I've lost 49 lbs. I'm now a Lifetime member. Since this is the Budget Board....here are the cold hard facts of my strategy. I'm 5'6. I joined weighing 178 lbs, wearing very tight size 16 pants (I figured it was cheaper to join WW, than buy all new size 18 clothes!) My goal weight was set at 155. I knew I wanted to lose more than that, but I also knew that once I got to goal, the meetings were FREE! So, I got to the WW "goal" and instead of doing maintainence I just stuck with the program and kept losing without having to pay. Now I weigh 129 and I'm a happy camper! Santa brought me lots of new clothes - size 8!!! :cool1: I'm 62 years old, have 6 DGKs (and twins due in March!) and I look better and feel better than I have in a very long time!
Without paying for the meetings, I no longer have access to the WW website, so I'd love to chat with other WWers on the DIS.

We totally should start a Weight Watcher's thread.:thumbsup2
Who else is gonna wanna know that you should bring your own FM headset if you feel the need to go to the workout rooms at the deluxe resorts so you won't have to use the ones (with relatively crummy headphones) at the gym desk to watch TV? (FM transmitters hooked up the flatscreen TVs.) :happytv:
Or have figured out how many points a meal at Spoodles is? :confused3
Or even CARE how many AP's you earned in one day of Disney walking?:cool1:

i am also thinking about re-joining ww. I did it 6 years ago. After just a few months, I felt great...and then found I was pg with #3.
I definately need a jump start again.

I just joined weight watchers online TODAY! I used the link on my health insurance website, I paid $55.00 for 3 months of the online program-- It is hard for me to go to the meetings with my husbands work schedule (I am not paying a babysitter for WW meeting). I know coupon cabin has a link for the 3 months for $59.00. HTH someone.
I am ready this time mentally, I hope! Good Luck everyone.

I was on WW last year, lost 40 lbs, quit tracking points and gained it all back, plus some :scared1: I am planning on rejoining next week. I would do just online but I need to be held accountable and the meetings do that for me. Having to step on the scale and have my weight recorded by someone else motivates me to stick to it.
They sent out cards for free registration last week, so keep your eye out for those if you're a previous member.

I also did online a couple of years ago and lost about 40 lbs. Looked and felt great. Then my family got tired of the regularity of our meals (every week the same things so I could keep track of the points), I started getting lax about counting, and lo and behold, it's all back on and probably more on top of that.
I feel awful, look awful, I don't think I've ever been this big (except when pregnant). My knees hurt, my stomach always feels bad, sometimes I have trouble breathing, I'm a mess.
I could do online, but my mom wants to join too so I think we're going to do it at our local center. This way, I can get the newest information, help her figure out what the point count is on all of the things that she might get for lunch (so she doesn't get mixed up and overpoint) and there is that level of accountability that I think I need this time around.
I told my husband, told him that I would appreciate his altering the way he's been cooking (cut out all the heavy items, cheese, cream, fat, etc) because I just can't do it alone, plus our older son is a bit overweight and I think he needs to be helped too (although I know WW no longer does a kids program, I think with some healthier eating and a talk w/ his ped in February, we'll get the help we need).
So we'll be joining the end of this week too. I know that there are usually a number of WW threads floating around, so hopefully we can all find each other and give a bit of support. I know that I will no longer have an unrealistic expectation. I know that for my height (5'4") I would probably be able to lose close to 60 lbs, but if I got 40 lbs off, I'd be a happy camper. I think I have to be realistic in what I can do and where I can comfortably stay for the long haul.
Oh, and for anyone interested, free registration is in place until sometime in March, so you can save on that if you join.

If we can start a thread somewhere, count me in! Some of my co-workers are starting too so hopefully I'll surround myself w/WW followers. I lost 15 lbs a few years back following the plan on my own but lost steam, never came close to goal plus gained it back & then some. I've got all the points info from my mom & my previous attempt at meetings.
DH has lost 30 lbs working out & cutting back portions and wants to join the Y. DD needs to be active too so hopefully this will be good for both of us. The younger kids will force me to take them & I won't want to keep swimming w/them at my current size so hopefully that'll motivate me.
The years are going by with more weight creeping each time, not the direction I want to go! I like the idea of PP - it's cheaper to lose weight than buy the next size up!

There is a WW thread on the Wish board, please come join us.
I've been on program since May and have lost 60.2 lbs. I do both the meetings and online. The online group is a nice one so please feel free to find a thread or two there and join in for those of you who cannot or don't want to go live meetings.
The "new" plan is really the best of both world -- core and flex. And yes it does make you think about just eating 100 calorie junk foods for all your points.

WW is awesome! I did the online version with my hubby. We both lost over 15 lbs! Great! I maintained til the holidays I have gained 3 pounds back. January 1st we are getting motivated again. I only have 15 lbs til my goal weight. Online program is cheaper but you need someone to be accountable to....
I give a thumbs up to weight watchers. You eat good and also see how many "points" your favorite junk food has and you cringe before you eat it. :rotfl: Seriously if I had a craving I ate a small amount of it... I didn't starve myself.

This made me LOL - especially since I do wear a pedometer in the parks! During Mousefest, I logged at least 20,000 steps/day - but, according to the online site, that's only 4 points... :sad2: ... and probably only 1/4 the points we'd need to spend at Spoodles!
Just made goal (60 lbs lost - w00t!) before WDW vacation & Christmas... managed to gain 5 lbs back, but I'm confident I can lose it again. :)

I LOVE the online tools!!!
I have tried WW many times but never stuck with it b/c I got tired of counting points & journaling…well this go round I decided to do the online tools and LOVE it!!! I actually pay for it through my HSA (health savings account) through work…so I don’t see it coming out of my regular bank account.
I live in the New Orleans area, so eating rich, bad foods is a normal thing…and it is so hard to stay on track! But with WW I can eat little bits of the bad food, with lots of the good food!
I started WW right after Labor Day (weighing 190lbs, size 18) and lost 15 pounds (now a size 14!!!) with no exercise…Thanksgiving I fell off the wagon with all this holiday goodies…and plan on getting back on Monday! From Thanksgiving-now I have only gained 1.8lbs b/c now I’m conscious on what I’m eating and portions. I cannot wait to get back on it and start tracking online again! This go round, I’m joining a gym to see the inches go away! I’m just hoping to be a size 8/10 by my Disney trip!
My only advice for all you new WW people is…WATER, WATER, WATER!
Good luck to everyone! And I love the idea of a WW thread!
Really good website is Dotties weight loss - http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html
GOOD LUCK!!!

Boy... your post mirrored me exactly! I have joined so many times these last several years and lost great amounts (30, 40, 50+ pounds), only to gain it back (and more) when I stop going to the meetings (weighing in there) and stop logging my points. I need accountability! I have tried to follow it on my own (believe me I have numerous packets and books), to no avail.
I have always liked the flex plan... and had planned on joining again next payday... this new plan worries me! Does anyone know specifics? Is it similar to the old plan, where you can eat what you want, and log the points (deduct)? This new plan doesn't tell you what to eat does it? It doesn't just have a list of foods (like the Core did) that you must eat?

ordered the At Home kit last night. Called this a.m. to make sure it went through and the lady told me it takes up to 48 hours to process the order then 7-10 business days to receive. I didn't choose the rush delivery for extra because it didn't specify any arrival dates....should I call back and have the rush added to my order? She did say that often people receive their kits just as quickly as the rush orders....anyone know how fast they are?

Everything old is new again! I used to be on WW when they had numbered choices and veggies. I have spent so much money on both WW and Diet Workshop(anyone remember them?) and I know the diet by heart. I like the core and will go on it but I cannot see myself joining b/c after a while the meetings get really annoying(to me) b/c I can mouth the lectures!:rotfl:
I found the key for me is having a treat at the end of the day. One of the things I use is a chocolate cupcake made from
1box b/c ff brownie mix
1c all bran
1.5c hot water
1 tsp baking soda
soak the cereal in the hot water till it is soft and mushy add the baking soda and the brownie mix and mix till blended. Bake in cc cups at 350 till middle springs about 25 min. It makes 16 and I count them as 2pts each. Honestly they are really good and fudgey and one at the end of the day is really filling.
there are tons of recipes on DWLZ as well as points for restaurants.

I am also at the point where I need to do something about my body and health. I have spent the last two years putting the body back together (sort of hit a brick wall when I turned 50:rotfl2: :rotfl2: ) - now it is time to slim it down!!!
Leaning towards WW but need the support of a village to get me through this.......

BTW, the message board portion of Weight Watchers is free. They can't give you point information (Mods delete those posts) but anyone can use that for support.
I'm currently on a mission to track and stay "on-plan" until my bottom fits squarely into this really cute pair of Hollister bermudas I picked up for a song a couple of weeks ago.
