Every post shall be accompanied by a picture of my favorite rum-soaked, dread-locked, drop dead gorgeous swaggering pirate. In addition, I shall include one of the many of my favorite Captain Jack quotes, in no particular order, from the three films.
Why?
Because it's my pre trip report and I can. :lmao:
And also, because given that 44 seconds of footage, and the news of the Fantasyland expansion, I am super pumped for this trip and I just want to do something fun every day until we leave. So even if I can't do a full on post, I'll still post the picture and the quote.
And you may all feel free to drool. Perhaps keep a spare towel by the keyboards so I don't get blamed for having fried your computers. You have been forewarned. ;)
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll289/tarzanskat/jack10.jpg
"Son, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow. Savvy?"
I'll give you all a moment.
Moment taken.....! Good golly that's one hot pirate.....
Drooling has commenced (just as long as I don't also cut a tooth like Smileybug....:lmao:)
Now, on to official pre trip report business.
I love my hair. :lmao: I really couldn't stop looking at it last night, running my fingers through it, the whole deal. The trip to salon was well worth it. She spent over an hour cutting my hair and styling it, and we discussed what she was doing, what products to use to achieve the same look. Honestly, even though expensive, it was totally worth it. You just can't beat that kind of service and that kind of quality, you really can't.
Anyway, the big kicker will be if I can style it myself at home. I'll let you all know how that goes later today. I do have to say, because it's so much shorter, I think it's going to take me even less time in the morning once I get the hang of it, and that's a huge plus. Anything that looks cute, like a real style, and doesn't take me time in the morning, well heck, sign me up! :goodvibes That and the fact that I've wanted this style for so long and never had the guts until now, well it just feels like an affirmation. In the words of Mia in the Princess Diaries (books, not film), perhaps I am on my way to self-actualization after all.
SO happy that you love it so much!:goodvibes I'll bet it looks great!
I also have Realityland coming from interlibrary loan, so I'm really looking forward to reading that as well. And they didn't have a Birnbaum's guide (why ever not???) so I'll be requesting that as well.
I don't know but I"m starting to think it's a library conspiracy.... It's like if you want it, you have to buy it (or, then again, perhaps a Birnbaum conspiracy!). I love that book. It's just pure Disney and a good "fix" in between trips!
Today, I'll be working on the bathroom (and my bedroom if I have time), which will lend itself to taking a look at our travel toiletries and seeing if we need any items to be replenished before we leave. :thumbsup2
Little itty bitty travel sized stuff!!!!......Woo hoo!!..... I love these so much that I posted pics of my stash on my last PTR. Target and Walmart usually have big sections of bins just chock full of mini-anything you might possibly need to travel!
Of course, my excitement factor is increasing rapidly. The closer we get to this trip, the more excited I get.
..... pirate:
I'm so excited FOR you!!! Gosh....pirates, hair, travel-size stuff, and an almost-here trip....:cloud9: This has been a great post!

First, thank you SO much!
I just can't think of a better way to start my day than with a cup of cofefe
and Jack.
Sigh.
I am so happy you love your haircut! And admire your bravery for a totally new style, it must be freeing.
I'm so curious about these costumes of yours, can't wait for more details!
All in all you are BUSY! Good, cleansing, happy busy. Good things.

Oh, hello, Jack -- thanks for swaggering over to brighten my dismal school day. ;)
TK, your new haircut sounds very fun and stylish -- can't wait to see it in person soon! :goodvibes
You will like those two Meg Cabot books -- fun, light, quick reads -- like fluffy, yummy cupcakes for your brain!
Ah, I am getting to the point where I simply cannot wait for our vacations to begin.

Glad you love your hair, a good cut is totally worth the extra money, because it grows out nicely too. So actually you saved money, because you don't have to get it redone when it gets shaggy looking.
Now I'm even more excited, because this is going to look totally cute when it grows out. Good point!!
How's that for some fuzzy math? Love the daily picture and quote, but can you keep it up until the movie comes out?
Alright, everyone, you heard it here.
If I begin a thread solely devoted to this after I finish this ptr, will you all follow me there? ;)
Add me to the list of 21 Jump Street fans, he was beautiful then too. You'll love Realityland - that was a great read. You should also look for "Mousejunkies" by Bill Burke, it was pretty funny.
I'll have to look up Mousejunkies, thanks!
I'm way ahead of you on the travel toiletries - mine are already packed.
Wow! :worship:
My 5 year old packed her suitcase already. All tshirts, no bottoms and no bathing suits - that would be an interesting vacation! I'm impatiently waiting - 11 more days!:woohoo:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I can't get over how she packed her suitcase. I shudder to think how my son would pack his. Although I can tell you, pretty much every day now, he wants to wear a "colored" shirt. That's what he calls his Mickey tie dyes. Am I soooo lucky, or what?
By the by, I've really enjoyed chatting with you here. Do you want to plan a tentative meet?
Moment taken.....! Good golly that's one hot pirate.....
Drooling has commenced (just as long as I don't also cut a tooth like Smileybug....:lmao:)
That sure is one hot pirate.
I soooo can't wait for MNSSHP to see my DH dressed up again. Talk about drooling. Now I'll have to fend off the DIS friends we're meeting. :lmao:
SO happy that you love it so much!:goodvibes I'll bet it looks great!
It is very cute. :thumbsup2

I just can't think of a better way to start my day than with a cup of cofefe

Sigh.
No need to thank me, my dear. I'd like to pretend what I did was selfless, but to the contrary.
I love posting pictures of Jack.
I am so happy you love your haircut! And admire your bravery for a totally new style, it must be freeing.
It is quite freeing, but today I got a little nervous. I had some trouble styling it, since it's my first time. I think perhaps I didn't use enough root lifter. I had a fair amount of mousse going. Let me tell you, this is a whole new world for a girl who barely used hair spray. Anyway, once I figure out the product and how to blow dry it perfectly, I think I'll be okay.
Due to my frustration, however, I was able to replicate my hair to the picture I have of the actress who plays Alice Cullen...complete with headband and everything. It is so stinkin' cute. :lmao:
I'm so curious about these costumes of yours, can't wait for more details!
I'm a little nervous about DS' and my mom's. I'm definitely going to need some help from DH for those.
All in all you are BUSY! Good, cleansing, happy busy. Good things.
I love that. It's so true.
Oh, hello, Jack -- thanks for swaggering over to brighten my dismal school day. ;)

I needed some light reads, and her books are so great for that. I've been reading these very, very heavy vampire novels, and they started to actually get to me. To the point where they put me in a bad mood. I needed some chick lit.:thumbsup2

I'd love to meet up, I'm hoping I get to see you Sunday night at the Rose & Crown. Our ADR is for 4:50, so I might be a little too early for you.:confused3
And we are doing the Halloween party Tuesday night, so no crazy Pirates ride for me with the DIS gang. What time are you guys going to be at the GF spa? I might be able to sneak over that way, if its in the afternoon. (we are staying at the Poly, so a little walk on the beach, and I disappear for a while, maybe no one will notice.) Other than that, I don't think your non-planned plans jibed much with our "don't mess with mom's plan" plans. I'll have to go back and look again, but I'm pretty much on Mommy duty the whole week- it took me 8 years to get DH back to Disney World, I'm hoping it won't take that long again. I need to make it easy for him.:headache: But, I'll be hanging around the Rose and Crown looking for you - I may not know what your face looks like, but now I know what your hair looks like!:rotfl:

I meant that I was completely, shall we say awestruck, at the very almost large-as-life Captain himself, that I barely noticed the off-handed mentioning that you had gotten a new hairdo that day. Sounds like you're really enjoying it!! I went and done that (how's that for some good ol' hick?) about 6 months ago. I still love it, and now it's time for a trim to keep it short-ish.

Listen. Is there any chance you'd like to try to have a mini meet before your ADR? This could potentially fit into my schedule no issues. We don't have any plans for that day, other than the two things on my wish list, getting DS on the Donald Boat Ride and listening to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
The only potential flaw in this plan is that it is our first day, I'm not sure how DS will be fairing given that our flight is somewhat early, although not entirely out of the realm of normal for him.
I think I should PM you. :lmao:
Ah headbands. I  headbands. Nothing fixes bad hair the way they do. Or at least my bad hair! I don't love the pinching behind the ears though. I am so dying to see the hair!
Oh, I just got the cutest headbands at Walmart today! I am so excited about them, they're more of like gel type band, and then they have the elastic to go around the back of your head. It looks really cute on. I've been experimenting with different styles to see how it looks, and now I'm really like it. This is hilarious to me, too, because I am a very laidback, don't want to take a lot of time with my hair kind of gal and now I have four different styling products, and all these hair accessories. :lmao: Thank god my makeup only takes five minutes. I mean who doesn't love a five minute face? ;)
which one's? I am starting to get vampired (and werewolfed, shapeshiftered, telepathiced OUT!) but of course don't have the heart to tell DSD that.
It's the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton. I really, really liked them initially, but the later I get into the series the more...how shall I put this delicately...graphic the novels get. And I'm not just talking about violence. Think as far opposite from Disney as you can get. Savvy?

Alright, I don't have too much to say tonight, guys. Just that I am mega excited! Eleven days! Pretty soon I'll be doing the single digit dance, oh yeah!
I was a little disheartened about my new do yesterday, but this morning, I got up early, and I was able to really spend some time styling it. It came out so nice, all my co-workers loved it, and quite a few of my customers commented as well. I felt oh so stylish and chic. I also bought a few hair accessories (wrap bands) at Walmart today, and I can't wait to wear them. They're comfy and look so cool. One may even become part of my MNSSHP costume. Not that that really tells you anything about it. Because I am a tease. Pirate. pirate:
I also managed to go through all the tolietries. Pretty soon I'll be making a list of whatever we're missing and getting that all taken care of. I'm thinking of asking DH to grab the suitcases from our storage unit so that I can start packing this weekend. Our temperatures have turned cooler, so we won't be missing our summer clothes.
Well, that's all folks. There's more I want to say, but I am just beat. Have a good night!
ELEVEN DAYS!!!!! :yay:

I loved that scene in the movie. I have to say, I have so many Capt Jack photos in my photobucket account that it took my half an hour to decide what to pick. I finally thought, I'll just go in order, POTC 1 yesterday, POTC 2 today, and so on. :lmao:

No no no!!....that's not what I meant at all!!....I was being serious - when DH and I caught that little line in the first movie, we thought that was SO cool! It was like a "flash-forward!" When he said it, he was speaking as something that happened in the past, but you don't see the event until the future!
Savvy?.....pirate:

Dude, I so thought you were calling me out. :lmao:
You know what I love about lines like that? They're so obviously improv. You know the whole thing about Will being a eunuch? That was never, ever part of the script. And how often did that get mentioned in the films? And then Barbossa's first name being Hector, that was something Jonny and Geoffrey had gotten together on when they were discussing their characters.
I seriously love the audio commentary on my DVDs.
A little too much, maybe.
NAH!!!! ;)

See....I have mixed feelings on True Blood. (Sorry to hijack) I loved the books and I love the direction the books continue to move in because the series isn't over yet! I watched last season of True Blood and I really did like it but I didn't add HBO again when it started up. You know what show I will add HBO again for?? BIG LOVE. I'm with you. I have read all the books but just started the show, we don't get HBO but have the first season to watch. Jeff, he's not so sure about it.
And yeah, I savvy on the graphic nature of the genre....at some point books can just get to be too....much.
And so I read the kids books and I feel so much better! I highly recommend the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Maybe not light and fluffy like Meg Cabot but fun nonetheless. Evan is trying to lure me into Fablehaven but Kendall is fighting for Vampire Diaries....

Okay, prepare to be sucked in (not a pun on the vampire stuff). "The Tudors" is on Showtime, and its about King Henry VII and all his wives. Jonathan Ryse-Meyers is Henry, and he is beautiful.:cloud9: Risk your head beautiful. New idea for a Halloween costume for your DH beautiful. Sigh. Past seasons are on DVD, my sister found them at our library. Be prepared to subscribe to Showtime. Sadly, the seasons are really short and don't start until March. Yay for being in the single digits. You must be so excited. And I'm hoping you'll do a tr with lots of pics of the MK all decked out for Halloween. I've always wanted to see Disney during Halloween, but a long weekend (Columbus Day) just seems so short.

I find it hilarous that you think you have an attention problem. Don't you teach kindergarten? ;) I just think I post so dang much it's impossible to keep track of it all.
You know, I don't always take a ton of pictures of the decor (mostly because I've seen it a lot at this time of year) but if you watn pictures, my dear, I will take you some pictures!!! No problem.
The farthest I've gotten on a 2010 visit is a long weekend with my Mom in January. I'll most likely be upgrading my ticket on this trip to an annual pass to accomodate that. Past that, I'm just not sure.
My plans are to start packing tomorrow. I'll post more about that tonight when I do my quotes for yesterday and today. :goodvibes

Only one for me, okay?
I made one with the hopes of giving it to my mom, but she didn't like that the circle containing the Mickey head seemed to be off center. So I'm going to try to make her another.
Hopefully dead center.
I also decided to go ahead and make one for my father in law, because that man is so game for anything. I know my dad wouldn't want to wear one (he's a big guy, and he might not like all that attention), and my nana, while fun loving, is a bit more dignified. :goodvibes
What weekend with your mom... I don't suppose I could luck out and it be the marathon weekend?
Honestly, we're not sure what weekend, which is why there's no pre trip report yet. It's going to be based on two things. One, when I we can get the best deal, and two, when I can get a day off from the bank.:thumbsup2
Dring something with plenty of rum for me. I shall do with a glass of red wine. . .
Dring? Amanda, are you hitting that wine tonight? ;)
Never fear, darling. It may not be on my list for the first day, but one of my goals is to get to Pop, head to the Petals Pool Bar and order myself a Pina Colava. At which point, I will swill it...gracefully, but still like a pirate...and toast all my DIS friends. :thumbsup2

What a wonderful reason!!!! I will so enjoy making this for you, because I know how much you'll enjoy it. We'll definitely chat when I get back. :goodvibes

Well, days nine and ten have now become smooshed together, given that I couldn't get on the DIS at all yesterday. Actually, I was really ill. It was so hot at work yesterday (our heat got turned on prematurely, methinks) that I felt so ill when I got home.
Like the ill that you feel after you've walked around the World Showcase and you really need to sit down in Italy, let your husband and son run around the square to burn off steam, and you just sit and reapply sunblock and makeup...a girl doesn't want to shine, even if people do stare while she applies her pressed powder...and take a big ole swig of water.
That kind of ill. And food...ugh. I was totally nauseous. Which has continued into today and makes me wonder if I don't have some twenty-four hour stomach bug. I'm hoping to cure my digestive issues of late with a good old Casey's hot dog and one, if not several Dole Whips. Surely, their restorative properites cannot be denied.
And so, I am really looking forward to escaping from real life right now, since I am feeling rather carppy. Better today, but still, not up to par. Last night, I fell asleep (I should say passed out LOL) at seven and I slept until six am. And my goal is not to run myself into the ground before this trip, so if that's what my body needed, that's what my body needed. :thumbsup2
I'm hoping to finalize our packing list tonight after DS goes to sleep. If not tonight, then tomorrow morning. Tomorrow, I'll begin packing, because I just need to get the ball rolling. I've already got the majority of the toiletries set aside.
I also had an idea, and I wanted to share it with you guys. I usually get a little stressed on the first day in Disney because I'm dying to head to a park, but conversely, I'm dying to unpack and get organized, and it's always hard for me to transfer everything I need to my park bag because it's all over the place.
Well, it's only taken me 25+ visits to the World to finally think, hey, TK, what if you took what you needed to go to the park and put in a Ziploc and labelled it, so that if you really wanted to just drop bags at Pop and head out, you just have one baggie to deal with instead of rifling through luggage? Seriously, do I have some good thoughts every now and then, or what? :lmao: So I'm thinking about doing this with a lot of things, so that it'll be easier to just grab the appropriate Ziploc and run with it, you know?
Also, I'm really going to streamline what we take on the plane. We'll definitely want our portable DVD player, because DS loves that. I usually buy him a new (inexpensive) DVD at Walmart before we go. Right now he's big time into Scooby Doo, so most likely it'll be that. Also, he loves cards! I recently taught him how to play War and Go Fish, and he really, really likes it, and I am just loving that my little boy is the age where I can play cards with him. It's something I did a lot with my Granddad, and it's just so great to have that full circle feeling and some bonding time with my little nut.
So the portable DVD player, cards, and I'll bring a book for myself. I'm sure my husband will want the Nintendo DS and we may bring DS' Leapster. I plan to have all the electronics in one area of the backpack so it'll be easier to take out for securtiy.
We'll want to have our swimsuits in our carry on backpack so if our room's not ready and we're not ready to head to a park, we can swim. I'm not at all planning that first day other than getting to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, getting DS on the ride in Mexico, and a little DISmeet that jmamom and I cooked up. Did I spell your DIS name right? Well, you know who you are. ;)
This week, we'll be finishing up the Halloween costumes and making a few more tie dye shirts. I'd like to get the majority of things done on my days off so that once I hit Disney Eve (Saturday, the 26th) there will be so little left to do that I will marvel at my planning prowess.
Pray for me. :lmao:
And sadly, photobucket is giving me a really hard time, so I only have one picture and quote this evening.
It is, however...QUITE lovely.

:goodvibes
All of my tie dye shirts were done.
Until I, at the last minute, decided to make some more. You may feel free to laugh at me now. ;)
I taught kindergarten for 5 years. This year, I'm teaching 3rd grade. At school, my attention problem isn't as noticable. Kids don't have a long attention span so I fit in :lmao:
Where are you staying in January? And does the annual pass really save that much money? I'm terrible with the Disney math.
Not going to laugh about the shirts. I would do the same thing :rotfl2:

Secondly, I'm worried about LL. But given that I'm obsessed with a rum-soaked, dread-locked, gorgeous, slightly adrogynous pirate, I'm not one to throw stones. :lmao:Perhaps we should plan an intervention. Is considered taboo to plan your own intervention? I think we should apply for the A&E Show Intervention and see what they do with us, one obsessed with a Pirate and the other with polygamy. That has got be a ratings winner! :lmao:
Oh, I crack myself up.
I :lovestruc the ziploc idea. I find myself in that conundrum on arrival day. You want to high tail it to a park but you don't want to come back to a messy room either. I totally get it. I think I'm going to have to do that ziploc idea too. I find that my carry on bag has totally different things for the airplane vs. the park. Superb idea!

Most likely, I'll be getting up the earliest, so it's imperative that I get to bed early.
If I can sleep. Disney Eve is so exciting!
I'm sorry you felt so ill yesterday, but I'm glad to hear you are recovering and feeling better today!!!!
I'm definitely on the mend, but I just ate breakfast and feel nasesous again. I really don't know what to eat/not eat at this point. I'm thinking maybe I need to to got the grocery store and get some fat free chicken broth. Maybe I need to go liquid?

Where are you staying in January? And does the annual pass really save that much money? I'm terrible with the Disney math.
We figured the annual pass would be worth it for me. To upgrade will cost me about $200. The thought is that I'll go in January and possibly take another trip with my boys before DS goes into kindergarten next fall. So for me, it's worth it. I won't be upgrading all of us, because I don't know if the family trip will materialize, so I think it's okay for just me to have the annual, then I can get the good room rates.
We don't have a specific hotel yet, although Mom informs me, "well, we WANT to stay somewhere nice." Translation = my wallet weeps. Pray for a good rate. :lmao:

Actually, since DS is in preschool, I wouldn't even need to go in August. What a great time of year to go! You can be there for Mother's Day :)
How do the schools in your area handle children being pulled out for vacation? My school is very laid back with that. So many families pull their kids out anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. One of my students missed the two weeks before February break to go to South Africa to visit her family. We used our iBooks and SmartBoard and Skype to talk to her about her travels. She kept a travel journal to share with the class. I'd find out the attendance policy for your school district.
I'm a terrible teacher for encouraging you to pull your child out of school in the name of Disney :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:lmao: I wouldn't call you terrible! My belief is that it really depends on the student/child. If I feel that DS will be able to handle missing school, then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. My parents did it with me all the time, but things are so different now.

"Do tell, dearie."
Alrighty! I've gotten the packing lists updated and I've already started pulling my clothes and items that I plan on packing. I wanted to start DS' but I'm going to wait until after his nap.
My husband will be getting the luggage from our storage unit today, so once that's done it's just a matter of putting things together and seeing how it all works.
I have a pretty short shopping list for Walmart, and I'm debating heading out and doing that after DH gets home. Or maybe this afternoon with DS, not sure. At any rate, progress is being made!
And as I was laying out my bazillion tank tops on my bed, I realized something.
I have too many. :lmao: I can easily pack for this trip and not need to do laundry. And due to my recent illness, some of the shorts that weren't working...fit again. I think if I stick to healthy eating habits (once I can manage to eat and not feel nauseous anymore) this week, then I might even be at a weight I'm happy with for this trip.
And that makes me so excited! Because I actually lost about five pounds on our trip last year. All that walking, and even though we had free dining, I ate sensibly, never stuffed, just pleasantly full. I attribute some of that to the elimination of the appetizer being included with dinner. I'm much happier with dinner and dessert, but that's me. :goodvibes
Normally, my standard vacation outfit is a black tank and whatever jean shorts I happen to grab. You know what's so funny? Ever since this tie dye thing has taken hold of me, I have a TON of colorful tanks. Can you believe I am only bringing two black ones?

"Do tell, dearie."
:goodvibes

I thought of him during our sermon today.
That should give you all pause. :scared1:
Our pastor asked us to think of someone we would like to show more love toward...and then he qualified that with..."not your boyfriend, or girlfriend, or Brad Pitt or anyone else besides your spouse..." And I thought...Ah...Jack. And then my thinking quickly shifted to more spiritual matters. :rotfl:
How is that for transparency!
I love that you have Tie Dye tank tops! And I am glad your shorts fit...but it is no fun to lose weight when you are sick.

LGMH = Lime Green Mickey Head. The "color" for the DIS is lime green. I am not sure who made that up...but many DISers wear lime green and some even put LGMH's on their purses so that we "recognize" each other.
You can get LGMH at Home Depot - they sell Disney paint and they have a lime green color (Alien Green, I think) on a card in the shape of a Mickey Head...so you can get it...cut out the Mickey Head. Write your user name on it. Laminate it. and put it on your purse or backpack, etc.
I met several DISers on my Feb trip this way. I didn't do it this time because I was with a "non" DISer and non-Disney person.
But anyway...that is what a LGMH is. :)
And I bet Kat could make shirts with Lime Green in the center and do a Mickey Head.....
And I want one!!! :rotfl:

Loved that book. It started me on a whole Philippa Gregory kick. Until I burned myself out on them as I am wont to do with a new favorite author.
I suspect that for our August trip my hair will ONLY be in a ponytail, or more likely in a ridiculous banana clip that drives DH crazy with the rare exception of times we actually go back to the room to freshen up for dinner. It was a non issue in Feb but aug? Ugh.
And Kat...you are the candy man.

Every year, I send my husband to the storage unit to get the suitcases. And every year, for some inexplicable reason, we always forget that we don't just pack in the two he brings back.
We also pack in the black rolling duffle in his closet.
And I forgot about that duffle. Like I do every year. So last night, as I was packing and thinking OMG, how is this all going to fit, DH and I finally have the same epiphany that we usually do bring one more bag to check and that it is in his closet.
Every year.
I swear, it would be funnier if you were there. Watching me. Look at everything I'd packed into the medium size suitcase that already weighed 45 pounds and didn't even include my unmentionables.
And I may be a pirate, but I don't go commando.
Boy, if that's not a tag... :lmao:
Anyway, I did a lot of packing last night. I would say, at this point, we're 50-75% done. All of our clothes are packed, most of our tolietries, and various gifts and other things of which I cannot speak. I stayed up.
Late.
I'm tired. Because for some reason, after the packing frenzy, I couldn't sleep. You would have thought last night was Disney Eve! And probably because my poor sleep-drived brain was addled thinking that I never pack this early and it was Disney Eve.
Which it's not. Because we have six more days. Six days!!! :woohoo: And I was so confused by the amount of work I did yesterday that I almost felt like it was Monday. Weird. I'm all off kilter. And not in a good band in Canada way.
I'm a little perplexed as to what, besides my hipster, I'm going to carry on to the plane, and how to orchestrate the rest of our things, but there's not much I can do about it until this weekend.
I do have some fun things to report though, and that's a little change in the normal pre-vacation routine. You see normally, I go to Walmart and get the last minute items all by my onesy savvy. However, this year, I decided to change it up a bit.
And I took DS with me. I had a couple of reasons for doing this. One, I'm sick of picking snacks for the plane that he's not interested in. And even if we did get some junk, at least I know it's appealing junk. And, heck, once we get on that plane, we are on vacation, as far as I'm concerned. And if we're going to eat chocolate for breakfast, dagnabit, we can.
Because I had a lovely coupon for $1 off 2 candy bars. I got a Twix and Three Musketeers for DH and I for a grand total of .28. I love something that barely costs anything. Now, of course, I was going to let DS pick something as well, so he chose plain M&Ms, his absolute favorite.
He also picked Entemann's mini blueberry muffins and fruit snacks to have on the plane. I figure this is good. I usually over pack on the whole snack thing and I refuse to this year. I know we'll get a little breakfast in him before we leave the house, so it'll be fine.
Every year, I also pick a new DVD for him to watch on the plane. This year, I let him pick it himself. He had a tough time with that. He kept seeing different things he liked, but fortunately, I'm lucky. When he wanted two, and I said only one, he didn't put up a fuss. He just thought about it for a good while and eventually settled on a Tom and Jerry DVD. It's a compilation, over two hours of cartoons! I love that my boy loves old school cartoons. He's so like me in that way.
We also got some gum (don't want those ears popping!) and last minute tolietries and things, so we're pretty much settled, nothing else to buy.
Yesterday I went ahead and transferred my reward dollars.
I have $150. I am so stoked over having put part of my deposit on my new car on that card. Now I have some "free" Disney money to spend! And spend it, I shall. With relish!
I still need to roll my coin, and do our last minute packing this weekend, but for the most part...we are good to go.
It's so exciting!!!!
And since I'm feeling a bit geeky today (packing geek, computer geek, trip geek), my quote will reflect that. For the most part I've picked really mainstream quotes.
Today, something a little different, that never, ever fails to make me laugh.

Oooo...now that's an idea! :scratchin

Our trips are even going to overlap!!! We are arriving on the 3rd! From what I have read so far, you are staying at POP! So are we. :thumbsup2

So unless you have a sick DISdiction of resort changing, we could be 10 feet or hundreds of feet apart... although I don't believe we would be 10,000 leagues apart.pirate: LOLOL

The Other Boleyn Girl -- I can't put it down -- I only have about 90 more pages left, and then I refuse to start a new book until I get some trip stuff done.
QUOTE]
OOh, I loved this book. It got me started on a whole Henry VIII fixation, which led me to find the show "The Tudors" that I was recommending the other day. The first season is all about his affair with Mary Boleyn, and how he dumps her for her sister Anne, and then goes on from there! I hope you're enjoying it CP, and I totally recommend it to you too Kat!
Good for you on the packing! I'm so not ready, maybe you will inspire me to get some done tommorrow! Less than a week now!:goodvibes

And I forgot about that duffle. Like I do every year. So last night, as I was packing and thinking OMG, how is this all going to fit, DH and I finally have the same epiphany that we usually do bring one more bag to check and that it is in his closet.
Every year.
It's a Disney packing tradition!
And I may be a pirate, but I don't go commando.
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:
I like the way you think, TK! ;)

Oh, I so need to meet you.
I don't want to impose on your vacation at all, but I would love, love, love to meet you in person.
And in regard to what Maroo said, it is true that I do not post face pics. But, I also have a little something to tell you.
My son loves little blond girls. And inevitably, wherever we go, little blond girls LOVE my son. It's got to be something about the hair minorities (he's got beautiful auburn red hair) that stick together. I could totally see our children finding each other at the pool. :)

My new hair is a day by day process. LOL

The reason for our trip was when we were in WDW in March, my DW's cousin and wife asked her to be the godmother of their son. The baptism is on Sunday the 4th. So we land at MCO at 10:30am on the 3rd. We have to get the rental car and drive over to POP. I'm thinking we should arrive there around 12-12:30. Check in (hopefully), then we are going to drive to Ocoee. There is a slight possibility we might just drive to DW's cousin's house first though.
We will be at POP in the evening. I don't know what time though.:confused3 What are your plans for Saturday?

Actually, they've changed slightly. Our initial intent was to head to the Animal Kingdom, but mom and I have decided to leave that day open to finish up whatever we want. And if that's lying by the pool all day, that's what it is. :goodvibes I'm excited about that.
Also, we do have dinner ressies, at the Brown Derby, to celebrate my birthday. Well, the whole trip is celebrating my birthday, but this is the designated dinner. I believe the time is 545. After that, I think we'll pretty much be back at Pop.

Vacation. Relaxation. The happiest place on earth. And so many DIS meets with so many wonderful friends.

No I am not but for a good reason. I have been unemployed for a while and I got a great job for AAA none the less so I am looking forward to a great job and great Disney discounts. We are going next year for 10 days after Thanksgiving and we are bringing my dd and staying at the WL. I am really excited. I will probably start a ptr after I get used to my new schedule.

Thanks!
Can't wait to read the tr!!!
Thanks!
Oh, TK, your last post and quote made me all teary-eyed! How perfect! I hope you have a wonderfully safe journey, tons of fun (by the way Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is getting rave reviews from everyone who saw them this weekend), and I will see you in just a few days! :goodvibes
Aw, shucks, teary-eyed?
The day you leave, indeed! Have fun, TK!
Thanks!

I'm a bit late, but hope your having a wonderful trip TK!!
Thank you!
What a great parting statement! Hope you are having a great time!
Thank you!
I hope you had a great trip. I think today is the day you get home so welcome home.
Thank you!
I hope that you had a wonderful trip!
We did!
Welcome home, TK! It was great meeting you Friday night and your lovely family Friday night! Chelsea tried to abscond with a certain Mickey head back last night while I was unpacking -- I had to beat her back.
It was a PLEASURE to meet you, hon. And I have to tell you, so embarassing, but I forgot part of your gift. All the gift bags were the same, but I had a little something to go in yours. Can you e-mail me your address when you get a chance?
And perhaps...maybe...perchance...a bag of her very own could find its way to Chelsea, too. ;)
Must be about time to say howdy and welcome home! Although, I'll bet you wish you were right back where you came from. The "Welcome Home Laundry" is never very fun!
The "Welcome Home Laundry" s-u-c-k-e-d. I'm not allowed to say that word around my four year old, so I spelled it. :lmao:
Welcome back! It was super nice to meet you and your family in the World!! :)
Awesome to meet you too!
:welcome: BACK, TK!! :)
Thank you!
Me thinks that our dear TK has absconded with a certain pirate! pirate:
I wish. :lmao: Although, I am QUITE happy with my very own Jack Sparrow.
My DH's costume was so good this year that people were stopping him all night at the Halloween party to take pictures with him.
And that's the only hint I'm dropping this evening about our trip. :lmao:
Plus she was on page two, and that's just not right. Hope we hear from you soon!
Page two! The horror!!!! :scared1:

I hope work is going good for you. Hope you are not suffering too much from Disney withdrawal. Can't wait to hear about your trip, especially since I am no longer going on mine this year.:sad1::sad1::sad1:
Actually, oddly enough I'm not suffereing from Disney withdrawal. At all.
There's a long explanation behind that, so I'll save it for the trip report.
No I am not but for a good reason. I have been unemployed for a while and I got a great job for AAA none the less so I am looking forward to a great job and great Disney discounts. I am happy for my job too. I can't wait to start on the 19th. We may go earlier than that it just depends on when I can get vacation. I thought this time I would just plan for farthest date out and then I won't be disappointed if we have to move it. :rotfl:

I realize it sounds ominous, but it's not. It's hard to explain without diving into it, and I think it may be my first trip report chapter. Suffice it to say it's not as bad as it sounds.
And pretty much, this trip was cathartic in a lot of ways. :thumbsup2

Thank you all so much for sticking with this through my own self-imposed DIS hiatus. I've got a lot going on right now (in a very good way :goodvibes) and I'm really having to scale back. Coming home from this trip, which as I stated, was cathartic in many ways, and turning thirty has been a huge milestone for me. There are a lot of barriers that have been broken down, trampled over, and toasted upon. It's been great.
I'm looking forward to writing my trip report, but for the time being, that means my commentary on other threads may suffer. Between my trip report with Tink and this recent trip, I know I'll have my hands full. I'll do my best to make the rounds, but know that even if you don't hear from me, I am lurking, and always, always reading. :goodvibes
I'll have to admit, I took food pics for about 24 hours and kept a trip journal for about 48. At that point, I gave up. I was too busy. This was the trip that put all other trips to shame in the sense that we Did. So. Much. So much. My son was willing to try new things, new shows, new rides, he was game. And since he was game, we were we game.
And if that meant that I came home exhausted, that's what it was. Some serious touring.
And maybe a defection of sorts.
But I jump ahead.
My birthday was this past Friday, and we've sort of been celebrating all weekend. Friday night, Mom, Nana, DH, DS, and I celebrated with take out Chinese and champagne. Let me say right now that the spoils were great. There were quite a few Veras to be had. ;) Today, we took DS to see Toy Story 1 and 2 in 3D, and then Mom watched him so we could go out to dinner. Very nice. Tomorrow, Mom and I are taking DS on a little day trip, which should be a lot of fun. Then Tuesday, our preschool story hour (you have to love free programs) at the library, and of course, our bi-weekly picking out books and movies.
All in all, life is good.
Life is full, it is good, and it can only get better. And I am happy in that. Contented. And for the first time in a long time, I have no idea when I'll go back to Disney World. I didn't book bounceback. January, for now, is on the kebosh. Oddly enough, no one believes me when I say I'm good, but let me tell you, I'm good.
It's time, as my son would say, for "something new...something different."
I'll post here as soon as I start the trip report. Given that I didn't keep a journal, I don't know if we'll do an exact play by play like I usually do, or more of a highlights of the trip. I was thinking a more pictorial spread with the highlights from each day.
At any rate, I'm here. I'm reading. And pretty soon, I'll be writing.
