View Full Version : My husband's football team..........O/T..........or is it?

My husband is a fan of a non-trendy footy team. He supports them through thick (not very often) and thin (most of the time). He and his fellow fans love every thing about them. Other people say "why not support a proper team?" but they don't want to. Their team is where their hearts lie and they wouldn't want to be another Man Utd. Oh sure, they occasionally dream of what it would be like to have all those exciting players and to actually need a trophy cabinet, but they know it's pie in the sky. They may play in the same league as Utd, but they are not in the same league as Utd.

They get quite a few regular visitors from people who do support Utd, but can't afford to go there very often. These people quite enjoy the small friendly atmosphere at my husband's club. They become their 'second' team.

My husband and his fellow fans discuss all manner of things on the club website - pick holes in their team and their players....like fans do.

But every now and again somebody will visit their club and then go onto the website to wholesale critisize. They will say there is NOTHING good about the club at all. They will rubbish it (and sometimes even the fans - tell them they are wasting their money).

That's when the hackles rise. It may be a website for all opinions, but the die-hard fans can take umbrage when their beloved team is slated. I hope these fans of other teams don't take it to heart..........people just like to stick up for the thing they love best.

;) Totally get where you (and your husband) are coming from.
But surely no visitor would say there was nothing good about your husbands favourite team :confused3 ??
