I am currently booked on the 4 + 3 plan, no dining. We are hoping to add dining when we arrive and offset the cost by paying for it with our $200 gift card. Is this an option, or do I need to add it before I arrive?

Thanks!

Nope, nope, absolutely not, no way, nohow. You need to add it at least 72 hours in advance, and there are recent rumors that there will be a fee charged to add this feature to your package.

Do you mean a fee if you add on dining after the 45 day mark? Or something else?

I haven't heard the rumors but the other info is correct.

I checked on the fee because it really bugged me that Disney might do something this stupid. Turns out you won't be charged a fee if you're spending more money. If you downgrade, then yes, a fee will apply.

As for the rest of the information, it is correct. You need to add the dining plan at least 72 hours prior to arriving.

ditto on the fee info...it's only for downgrades. We booked our January trip at 42 days, so paid in full at booking. Then I called back and upgraded DDP to DxDDP at about 38 days or so. No fee. Called back a couple days after that & upgraded room - another change. No fee. Both times I asked if the change fee would apply since it was less than 45 days...both time CMs laughed & laughed...and said Disney would never charge a fee for someone who wants to spend more at Disney! To the OP, you could use the $200 gift card to pay for tips & cover the adult beverages not covered on the DDP...
