pro or con diffrent use year

I am just wondering since I can now purchase an add on with a diffrent use year is it a good thing or a bad one? What are the disadvantages or advantages?My use year id December and this would be June.

Unless you like to take many small trips, and even then I couldn't see the advantage, I don't see any advantage to different use years. Even transfering points between accounts gives you nothing, the points still retain their original use year.

I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, but it is going to take extra work to keep track of them.

I have 4 different use years and , while it does mean some extra accounting, it isn't much of a problem at all. Just check your totals with MS with every change and it's pretty easy to track.

OK, now I'm confused. I thought I just read on these boards that you couldn't buy an addon with a different use year from your primary contract. I sure hope I'm wrong since we'd like to add on at HH before the price increase but our August use year is sold out! Anybody know for sure?

While DVC won't sell an add-on with a different use year, you can buy a resale with different use years without any problem.

If you want more points at a sold out resort (or where specific use years are no longer available), resale is the only option.

I also have a Dec use year and just did a 170 point add on at BCV with a June use year:D I have not yet had any problems and I did it so I could book vacations with those points in Oct and Nov without having to worry about losing my points if I had to cancel so close to the end of my use year... I would still be able to bank those points as long as I canceled more then 30 days in advance... I'm glad I did it...
