Has anyone heard if construction is running on time for a Dec 2009 opening? We are planning a Jan 2010 trip to Universal and WDW.

I''ve researched the amount of days for the 2 parks and I get about 2 days as an average. Do you think if HP opens in time that we should plan more days?

I'm stressing because I want to make sure that "I" get in my Disney time, LOL.:)

HP's opening will be synced with....something. Maybe. :confused3

But construction is going smoothly. There are things I would love to say about it, but can't!

I'm guessing they're referring to the 1st half of the 7th movie..but that's scheduled for November 2010

OK so I'm guessing I'm out of luck for a Jan 2010 visit, can you confirm that? ;) We have 2 other families planning and one doesn't have kids and would only be going for HP. Part of me would be willing to postpone BUT then end of Jan our school schedule is wacky and we get some 1/2 days and days off due to high school testing. If we postpone a year then my oldest will be in high school so we can't take off those 1/2 days. I don't really want to take them out at another time as they would miss full days of school. And summer, I did do that pregnant one year but do I really want to do that again - summer I mean, LOL. I'm done with the pregnant:) And finally my oldest would be celebrating his B-day in Jan. Oh decisions decisions :confused3

Thanks everyone who has given your opinions and knowledge. I appreciate it!:thumbsup2

I really wish building in the park was going quicker. I'm excited to see how it's going to turn out.

Oh! I hope that it's done by the beginning of November 2010 since that's when we're planning to go (in celebration of my BIG birthday!)

Can someone confirm whether if they think that's a good time, PLEASE :worship: ?

Can someone confirm whether if they think that's a good time, PLEASE :worship: ? I would think with about 95% certainty, HP will be open by November 2010. Historically, the lines are pretty light in November but once HP opens...all bets are off.

I was planning Jan 2010 too and was hoping to fins HP working, as it was scheduled when they announced it. :surfweb:
I'm gonna wait a little more to give this bad news to my family (maybe something changes ?!?) .... But I think I'm not changing my plans, because its the only time of year we can go ...

I would love to go to US for Christmas in 2010 to experience Harry Potter. We are going in June 09 so I hope to sneak a peek at the construction.

Can I ask -- why 2012?

macraven

i would think the largest crowds would be gone by that time.
it wouldn't be the new thing at that point.

most people will go when it first opens.
i want to avoid the crowds.

and, hopefully another new featured ride will be made by then for the parks. the new coaster opens around late spring or early summer next year. i would assume after the new island section, universal would concentrate on another new ride for the parks then.

Because the world ends in 2012 as told by the Mayans and many other civilizations :)

Be sure to get your last visit in before then :scared1:

Makes sense but I just don't have the patience to wait 2 years after it opens. I plan on staying at a US resort which will give me FOTL privleges for some of the attractions.

i have been staying at the universal resorts since they opened. the FOTL is valid for all of the attractions, rides and shows.
it is well worth it!
you will like it there.

i'm not the parry hotter fan like most people.
waiting to 2012 will not be an issue for me.

i just hope that section of the island won't be crowded like HHN can get...

We stayed at the Royal Pacific on our last visit and the FOTL pass is awesome!!! We were so spoiled that when we went to WDW afterwards the lines and having to get fast passes was :headache: . We are staying at the HRH this June and I am so excited. We were going to wait to visit US when Harry Potter opened but we will just have to plan another trip!;)

i have stayed at HRH 19 times and the other 2, once each.
did you book the promo for the free nights at the UO hotel?

You may not be a Harry Potter fan but this might just be the big thing Universal needs. I'm still sad about losing my favorite CS restaurant because of this construction so it had better be good! ;)

Wow- you have been to US lots of times! I am guessing that HRH is your favorite resort! Yes, I booked the 5 nights pay for 3 promo. It comes out to about $186 per night for an obstucted view. I think my kids, DD14 and DS11 will love the HRH! If you have any tips for me I would love them. Thanks

where will they put any new construction?. seems like HP is a tight squeeze & the new coaster,, that seems to squish between other buildings.
they are outer bound by roadways smack up against the parks.
:confused3

muffyn, one of the other homies had put up a map of the universal land mass sometime back.

if i can find it, i will post it.
or if damo or dark maruader still has it, maybe one of them will post it for you.

it gives a good view of all the land that universal could develop.
