I know this is a stupid topic, but here goes....
Last year, my son broke his collarbone while running in the hallway at the Beach Club. Needless to say, that put a damper on our trip!

Not as serious as your son's collar bone, but I brought my budget at WDW in 2005.

Several years ago at the Frontierland Train Station Judy managed to slip her leg between two of the vertical posts on the fence and was unable to get it back out. She and I and the Station Attendent tried to maneuver her leg but somehow the knee had managed to slip between the two posts and it would not come back out.
These were 4" x 4" rough-hewn wood posts. They ended up calling Reedy Creek Emergency Services who sent over a Rescue Squad with a Jaws of Life to separate the posts.

Yeah, I think you got the wrong board but it's an interesting thread.
I don't recall hurting myself or DH hurting himself at WDW, which is really something because he's a total klutz. :) (Not me though. :) )

I wasn't sure which board to post it on. This is the only board where the moderators don't have an itchy trigger finger for things that are not 100% on topic.
Back to my story, lol.....There is a urgent care facility that Disney sends people to. We decided to take them up on the offer the next day. They were supposed to pick us up, but after a LONG LONG wait, the manager of the Wilderness Lodge (where we were staying) called us a cab and had Disney pay for it. It was very nice of him. Everyone who worked in the front was so nice to my son. We definitely felt the Disney magic, even though the broken bone squashed the end of our trip.

You could always go with one of the community boards. Nothing has to be on topic there. I would guess the Theme Parks Community Board might be the best choice.

We are DVC mbrs and we were staying at Vero Beach. The last night before we were leaving for WDW my 5 yo son fell out of bed. I heard him wimpering and went in there and thought he had a bloody nose as he had blood all over him and the bed. Turns out he had hit his chin and split it open. We went to the Urgent Care that didn't open till 9. Long wait already so I went to the store and got Steri Strips and with a CM at Vero we patched him up. After we did that I tried to get him to eat something and he said his mouth hurt. Looked inside and turns out he had fractured a molar.
The CM got us a dentist appt for that afternoon in Orlando and he had to have the tooth removed. Then we took him to Urgent Care there and had his chin looked at and they bandaged him all up. So no swimming for 5 days. His brothers weren't happy.
To top it all off he was swollen and bruised. Since he was asleep when he fell out of bed he couldn't remember it and denied that that is what happened. So whenever anyone commented on his bruises and bandages and we said he fell out of bed he would LOUDLY complain that it didn't happen like that. I am sure there were a lot of people there thinking the worst of us.

Twinmom, that sounds awful! I know what you mean about people thinking the worst. My cousin is severely mentally disabled from shortly after birth. To top it all off, he is also a very bad epileptic. He takes grand mal seizures on a daily basis and, God love him, has so many cuts and bruises and scars all the time. My dear aunt and uncle are getting embarassed to take him to emerg now because he's 40 and has been so many times over the years. They are so scared someone is going to think that they are hurting him.

Last Feb. in the middle of our trip DD10 & DS2.5 and went down the twisty slide in the fossil dig pit at AK. DS wimpered half way down the slide and at the bottom he wouldn't stand on his own and was sort of crabby. DH thought it was just naptime, but I had a bad feeling it was more then that from the way he was acting. We took him to the first aid station (all the way across the park), they gave us a dose of motrin and sent us on our way. DS feel asleep so we finished the park. When we got back to the hotel DS refused to move or walk on his leg. I said "that's it, we are going"...luckily we were having a grand gathering so we left DD with FIL & MIL.
So we get to urgent care, they x-ray DS, turns out he has a severe femur fracture. They can't do anything for us. (Did I mention our transport vehicle that the urgent care provided, clipped the UPS truck that was parked in front of the urgent care facility as it was dropping us off. :confused3 ). So they send us via ambulance #1 to Celebration, were we get more x-rays and lots of questions about how this "really" happen, together and seperately. We find out it is a twist fracture and that he will need a pediatric specialist, which Celebration doesn't have, so they are sending us over to Florida Hospital which is where the Children's Hospital of Florida is (that ride didn't happen until after midnight) and we will be going in ambulance #2. While we were waiting, I call my sister who is a nurse and tell her what is going on and she informs me that the reason they keep asking us what happened is because a twist fracture is a classic child abuse sign. NICE! DS has a delay in his speech and cant tell anyone what happened so DH and I are doing all the talking. :scared1:
Finally get to the right hospital, they will need to sedate him and take him into the OR to cast him, but this is no ordinary cast. DS needs a Spica cast, basically he is casted on both legs (even though he broke one, they needed to cast both to stabalize the break) from his toes to his mid chest. He spent the next 3 days in the hospital and released us an hour before we had to leave on ME to get to the airport.
We upgraded to first class so we could fly home (we looked into renting a car, but they said it would be to rough on him=plus no seat restraints for him (couldn't with the cast)). He spent the next 4 months in that spica cast and then another month in a single leg cast.
When people ask about our last WDW trip, we tell them we had the Hospital Tour Package, it is a highly exclusive package that only rare individuals are allowed to book. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This didn't happen at Disney, but, it did happen in Kissimmee.... I went bowling with my friends one night.. Well, as I approached the lane, I slid, fell and bruised my tail bone... I was sore for the rest of the week I was at Disney...

He is doing much better. His right leg is slightly (a few mm) shorter then the left. He still has a tendency to stand with his toes pointing out (they way they were in the cast) and his feet apart, but if we remind him then he will fix them.
He was afraid of slides for a long time and everytime he saw one (especially in the Huggies commercial) he would talk about the bad slide (his speech has improved dramatically since then~just a late bloomer) and how it hurt him. It took a few months to get him to go near a slide, but now he will go on them, but he is sure to remind us about the bad slide first.:lmao:
JASN-I am extremly grateful to Dr. Cole (and the rest of the staff at Florida Children's). We were assigned to Dr. Cole at the hospital and had no way of knowing anything about him, but all of the nurses kept telling us DS was in the best hands possible. When we finally got home, we googled Dr. Cole, turns out his is one of the top orthopedics in the country and even has several patents (some pending) in the field of orthopedics. I trully believe he saved DS from years of surgery and pain from that break. "Someone" was surely looking out for us during this journey!

Well, I had to go to the ER in Celebration for injections into my shoulder, I had a severe bursitis attack. The ;pain was intense, could not leave my hotel room for 2 days.
BUT, DD best friend had a "better story". Family of 4 (mom, dad, 2 kids) was waiting for Illminations to begin in World Showcase, Epcot. Everyone was happy. The little girl, then age 5, was twirling. And twirling, and laughing. etc. Then her little foot got stuck in the pavement somehow, and the foot stayed put, while her upper body twirled........ yup, a spiral fracture of some sort in her leg....... family returned home to NJ the next day. She was fine in 8 weeks or whatever.

My nephew fell off the bed while we were on the DCL Wonder, and broke his arm - he wasn't quite 2 yrs old. Luckily it was on the way back into port Canaveral and they drove him right to the hospital.
Also, good friends of ours had an accident with the jet ski's you can rent - something about the gas tank exploding(not 100% clear on all the details since it was before I knew them really well), and severly injuring her one son...Disney has been very gracious to them ever since.

I (40 yo)was on Keister Coaster and went to grab onto the bar above my head to make me go faster and slipped and fell right on my butt and tailbone:scared1: Ouch!!! I was so lucky I didn't break anything!!:cool1: But I hurt for days.
The trip before that one, I was walking off the bus at the BW and tripped over the sidewalk and pulled my shoulder muscle. That was painful, in fact I thought I was having a heart attack that night!
And this is a cute one. My DD who was 6 at the time, was walking around SAB and was so amazed at the pool, she wasn't looking where she was going and walked right into the pool fully clothed:rotfl: She didn't get hurt, thankfully, but it was so funny we couldn't even yell at her. This was 10 minutes before we were leaving!!

My friend and I were in the pool at POP in 2006 drinking a few beers and relaxing. It was about 2 in the morning so we were the only ones outside. I had to use the bathroom, and it was getting cold outside, so I figured the best bet was to run like hell to my room so I was in the cold air for as little time as possible. I ran full speed towards the center staircase of our building.
Here's where the problem happens. The surface around the pool is rough cement, no problem with traction on wet feet. The base by the staircase however, is painted smooth concrete. I had forgotten this (okay, I was a little drunk) and when I went to stop, my feet slid out from under me, and I went shin first into the vertical post for the handrail at full speed. The sound of bone contacting metal was so loud that my friend had heard me from back at the pool. She screamed "You okay?!" I laughed, winced, told her I was fine, then ran up to the room to finish my plan. As I was standing in the bathroom, I looked down and saw that my shin had already swelled so much that it looked like a golf ball was sitting under my skin. Later that night I ended up having to pull a small sliver of chipped bone out of the lump, since it had already begun to poke through the skin. I had a painful limp for the remainder of the vacation.
2 years later, I still have a discolored spot with a large indent in my right shin. Lesson learned.
My friend and I are returning in two weeks for another POP/WDW trip, and she keeps reminding me that there will be no drunk running around the pool this time.

One year as a teenager my parents let me buy these ridiculously high, ugly platform shoes from the China Pavilion. (Okay, back then I thought they were cool, now, not so much) I was wearing them while walking back from the car at POR. I stepped in the drain that was on the curb. My body kept going but my foot stayed put. It was only a sprain but I got to ride around in a wheel chair the rest of the trip. It didn't end there though! My mom was pushing me onto Space Mountain and right as you enter, where the line turns to the left, the rubber grips came off of the and the chair kept going, into the railing. I think that is the one reason she refuses to get a wheel chair in Disney now with us! She is afraid I will try for revenge!

My dad broke his toe while walking around Typhoon Lagoon. I wasn't there (my sister had a different spring break than me), but from what I understand, he was walking along barefoot and ran into a heavy beach chair. Disney staff was very helpful to my parents, and they thoroughly enjoyed Celebration Health. :) My dad being who he is, he terrorized everyone in the parks for the rest of the vacation on his motorized scooter!

We headed to Florida for Thanksgiving to visit my mom and than go to Disney. we got to moms (we drove from Illinois) we were enjoying our trip and turning into my mom community we were hit. Our van was totalled. we were to drive to Disney an hour away in 36 hours. Spent the whole next day dealing with how to get to Disney. Moms; car to small. Got a shuttle lined up. woke up on Sunday and my eyes were all black and blue from the accident and my glasses were broke. we were leaving in 2 hours and my face was all brused. We still had to figure out how we were getting home and how we were getting a new van. the whole week at Disney, people stared at me and my husband like he was a wife beater. IT was not a vacation it was a nightmare.

Let's see. I broke my elbow on Humunga Kowabunga. It still hurts 4 years later. I fisnished that trip in a cast. The next year I broke 2 toes in the Big Wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. (Haven't been back since) And on that same trip, my DS had to have 11 stiches in his chin after falling down the stairs at the POP. But on a good note, the last two trips have been flawless. :woohoo:

The worst thing I ever did was sprain my ankle getting off Test Track. My foot got caught in the restraints and BOOM! Flat on my face.
I limped over to the First Aid Station at the Odsessy and they gave me ice and told me to rest it. Stupid EX made me walk all the way around the world on it. And did I mention it was my birthday?!
Yep.. bad, but no where as bad as that spiral fracture! You win!! :thumbsup2

1) I am accident prone.
2) No different at WDW.
3) Examples: At WDW, I have
. . . dropped a bundle every vacation
. . . singed my credit cards from overuse
. . . fallen through my budget
. . . gagged when I saw the dinner check
. . . cracked a smile on Teacups
. . . stumbled out of bed at 6:00 for Chef Mickey's

On the first day of our 9 day trip at SSR I dislocated my knee. We were watching TV it was late and I decided I was going to go to sleep. So as I repositioned in bed and went to roll over - I usually sleep on my left side- I start screaming in pain. My husband was terrified he had not a clue what happened. All I could manage to say is, "it hurts, it hurts, it hurts". He was try to figure out what hurt but I was in so much pain. Finally he was able to see what had happened. What a lovely trip we had. That was in Feb and I was not better until May when I finished physical therapy. I could not wait to be freed from wearing a leg brace.

Just returned from a trip to OKW from Jan 3rd - Jan 9th. We were at Hollywood Studios for my dad's birthday, we were going to Epcot for lunch at Le Cellier. It was me, my mom who was in a wheel chair due to MS, my grandmother, my brother, and my aunt and uncle.
We were running late for lunch and we were going to take a boat to Epcot. As we leave the park, I see the boat at the dock. I took off running while still pushing my mom's wheel chair. I hit a bump in the sidewalk. The wheel chair stopped, but I didn't. I flew over the wheel chair and my flew out of her wheel chair. I sprained my hip and did ligament damage to my knee. Supprisingly, my mom was perfectly fine, just a couple of scratches.

Mine doesn't win by far, but it was rather amusing. :)
We had just arrived at CBR for a week-long stay, and my youngest brother was maybe 4-5 at the time. Dad had already gone in to see when our room would be ready (12-1 in the afternoon), and he'd come back to get us so we could change into shorts and get ready to hit the parks. Well, the youngest brother was all excited, but got caught up in watching a bird hop around the parking lot. No one thought anything of it, but just as we went to cross the street we heard a thunk. He'd run into a light post while watching the bird. He had a huge knot on his head, and it was bleeding. The CMs rushed out a first-aid kit and got him all bandaged up, and gave us a room immediately so we could take him there to recover. As much as it hurt him (although when he woke up around noon, he was ready to go!), we couldn't help but chuckle later.

Ok, I'll play too. Two stories from our latest trip from last month.
First: DS5 was enjoying a few rides on Toy Story Mania. While having glow neckalces in one hand, and the 3D glasses in the other, I'm telling him to hold on to the railing before he goes down the stairs. (The ones right before you get to the ride). "I know Mom" was the last I heard before I see my poor child lose his footing, and tumble head over heels down about 7 steps, foot though the railing, head first. :scared1: I've never experienced life go into slow motion before that moment. We got to meet the Disney paramedics for the first time, something I never thought I'd say, and luckily DS walked away with just a bump on the back of the head.
Second: We're on the bus from OKW going to MK one morning. We get on at the first stop. At the last stop at Hospitality House there is a scooter to get on. No problem, there's plenty of room. The lady who'd driving the scooter gets it onto the bus and stops once she's in the middle of the aisle. Her son-in-law tries to get onto the bus and explains to the driver that he always parks it for her. The bus driver kicks him off the bus, tells the lady to get out of the scooter, and that she'll take care of it. Now, DH and DS were sitting in those first 2 seats that are directly behing the driver in those newer buses. Well, the little 5 foot tall bus driver was having problems with the heavy duty scooter, she hits the gas and proceeds to run directly into the side of DH's leg!! Luckily, he was ok as well, didn't need the hospital. But I've never before seen a bus driver do something like that.

A little background info: DH has a penchant for head injuries. Minor, thank God, but head injuries nonetheless. There's always some sort of boo-boo on his forehead, nose, ears, whatever.
We were swimming in Coronado Spring's pool, having a great time. I was feeling reminiscent of my youth, so I attempted to do a backwards somersault in the water. After a few clumsy attempts....ta dah! I did it!
Not to be outdone, DH insists he is now going to do one. So back he flips, does his thing underwater, and comes up for air. That's when I see a little red dot on the forehead, then it turned into a red drip, then a red stream. Yup, the genius smacked his head on the bottom of the pool.
For the rest of the vacation, he had a perfectly vertical scab on his forehead.

My mum got attacked by a squiral in MK and all the first aid room did was clean it and say she'd be fine. 4 days later we were back in UK wound now very swollen & weeping. It needed cleaned out and stitched and at that piont our doctor told her she should have got rabies vac. so we had a very nervous next few weeks.
My youngest is very accicident prone. So much so, she fractured her 3rd vertibra in her neck just falling out of a normal height bed. But she wins our holiday nightmare prizes. At Legoland Uk when she was 2 in the todler lego brick play area, she was sitting with a brick in her hand on a play mat and leaned forward, so much that she slowly toppled over putting the brick into her head and requiring 3 stitches. The young lad in charge of the play mat area said his collages would never beleive him when he had to fill out an accicdent report for that area of the park. Next holiday she ended up in intesive care after contracting septacemia from tonsilitis. We now check out hospital locations before choosing our hotels to make sure they are close!!

Happened at Epcot Center a week ago Saturday.... was trying to get "that perfect shot" with the camera...sun was just setting and glowing off of FutureWorld (I was in Japana in the World Showcase).... knew where the bay fence was, but didnt see the jagged concrete bench and I plowed right into it hitting my legbone 4 inches or so under my knee. My last trip to Florida, I was stung by a stingray. It wasn't at Disney, though, but it was the worst pain I've ever suffered. I was in waist deep water, and felt somethng "bite" my ankle. I was with my 10yo son, 9yo niece and 6 yo nephew. Somehow, they thought I was just kidding, but, finally, with alot of urging on my part, I got them safely out of the water. I was barely able to walk to where we had our towels and bags. I was diaphoretic and thought I was going to pass out. I was bleeding and leaving bloody footprints on the beach, which was mortifying to me. But, some very kind strangers tried to help. They poured vinegar on my wound (treatment for jelly fish envenomation) and put ice on the area, both of which hurt like H***, because the treatment for jelly fish stings is to soak the area in as hot of water as one can stand. Fortunately, my brother's wife's grandparents live not far from the beach, and I was able to hobble there within about 20-30 minutes of my injury, soak my foot, and was on my way within two hours. Now, I know how to treat sting ray injuries.

I have two stories........
not sure if this one is an accident or not but it was still a pretty bad thing. Our second trip to WDW (curse this speaking in code ) we drove from Va to the resort and we took moms truck god forbid any of you should ever see this purple monstrosity her bf was with us and i rode in the bed of the truck well i fell asleep on the way there and did not put and sunblock on. when i woke up i was literally cooked! my legs had blisters on them the size of baseballs! it was very painful the whole trip but not half as painful as moms bf's whining .....
my second one is kinda funny....
we were in line for pirates and i was sitting on one of the big chains swinging on it and all.... the chain broke and i fell on my butt many laughs were given

I ran into those posts that you talk into at Fort Wilderness and ended up needing stitches. This was at about 12:30 at night. We got a free night out of it though.

So I would say thats my worst accident.

I have a funny story, though DH doesnt think it is so funny.:rotfl: We had spent our honeymoon at Disney and we were back at the airport to check our bags, well you kow the zipline ropes to form lines, for some reason I accidentally unhooked it and it came flying at DH and hit him in the head.
He said had it been a few centimeters closer to his temple I could of killed him!!! :faint: Thank God I didn't  But now everytime we are near one of those he reminds me.
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still
bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

This did not happen to us personally, but we witnessed it.
Late after Spectromagic at MK we were on our way to the busses. There was a young boy around 8 or so running full force towards his bus. His father was yelling at him, we assume he was telling him to stop (they spoke a foreign language). He ran directly into one of the chains that form the bus lines. He actually spun completely around the chain and then his head hit the ground. I cannot put into words how awful and loud the crack was. He was silent, while everyone aound was stunned for a moment. He then began to scream. His father scooped him up, meanwhile my husband was getting his phone out of the backpack and to call 911. His parents just kept going and jumped onto a bus to their hotel. The bus was nearly full. You could hear him bellow and cry on the bus..... At that point, we just quietly gathered our kids and walked on to our bus. I often wonder how that boy was. There was not any blood that we saw, but he had to be hurt badly. To this day, when I see kids running around any ropes, chains or anything like that it takes my breath away.

I had a bad motor scooter accident in 2003 off the Disney Cruise in the Bahamas. Ran into a Black iorn gate .The bike had lost it's breaks. It's a real long story and a nasty one. You don't want to get hurt in the Bahamas. Hospitals are not like US. I got hurt bad at 1:00 pm the boat was leaving at 6:00pm. I Left the hospital at 5:50 . Just made to the boat looking bad face split with stiches 2 other bad cuts they didn't stitch. But hey I made it though it went on the boat sore but had a great time and went to Disney World for a week and had a great time. I wasn't going home that's for sure.

3 years ago we were coming back to OKW from EPCOT after Illuminations. DH was getting off the bus holding the stroller, I was behind him. From my vantage point, when he stepped down onto the ground, he just kept going down! He had sprained his ankle pretty bad. My DSis came over and stayed in our room with our kids while I went with DH to the ER. We were on the 3rd floor and they were able to move us to a 1st floor room, but that took most of the next day (check out, move our stuff, check in, move our stuff back in, with three kids 1st grade and younger.) The rest of the trip allowed DH to test out his ECV driving skills. We made the best of it, but it put a damper on the trip.
I don't think it comes close to the twist femur fracture or the falling into the horse left-overs!

Last Feb. in the middle of our trip DD10 & DS2.5 and went down the twisty slide in the fossil dig pit at AK.
We had a mini celebration today (2-20) and had DS3 (now) blow out one candle on a cupcake. :cheer2: It was one year today that he broke it. He walks pidgeon toed, but is back to running, jumping, and wrestling with DH and DD11. Hopefully his feet will straighten back out sooner than later (this was a result of the way his feet/legs had to be positioned in the spica cast). It took a few months, but both Grandmas worked hard, to get him on a slide and he will now go down them without freaking out.

Not a stupid topic to me.
Last June I fell down the stairs in Mexico at EPCOT shattering my tib/fib, dislocating my ankle and fracturing my arm. I have no clue how it happened. We were back there in January and I walked up and down those stairs trying to figure it out. Obviously I've healed and am walking again but it took 2 surgeries and a lot of PT to get me here. It was traumatic for my whole family but didn't dampen our love for Disney at all.

I am extremly grateful to Dr.
Dr. Cole was my surgeon too! My local orthopedic doc. has commented several times on what a great job he did on repairing my leg. My tib/fib was shattered into many small pieces about 3 inches above my ankle. He gathered all those little pieces together and they healed very well and very quickly. I also have 2 rods: one in my tibia as is most common and one in my fibula which is very unusual. I am often grateful to have gotten such skilled and aggressive orthopedic surgeon.
I'm glad your little guy is back on his feet. Broken bones are really the pits!

The spiral fracture of the femur is the worst vacation accident I've ever heard of! I'm glad you can talk about it with a positive spin...
The only thing I ever had happen at the World happened at Epcot....
A bird flew into my face!
:lmao: That happened to DH in DHS. He leaned his body to one side to miss the first bird flying at him. But, while he was looking back at what had just flown passed him a second bird wacked him in the side of the head. I was laughing so hard I couldn't stand up straight.

STORY # 1
3 years ago we were at Magic Kingdome, DH, DH (3) and I and we were riding the rides late as we ususally do since most people are on Main street waiting for the fun to start we can get on and off stuff quick and ride multiple times. As the fireworks went off we were far far away from the castle but could see them as we walked and talked pushing DD in her stroller. I felt like for a second that I had and eyelash in my eye and rubbed it. 1/2 way to the front of the park I went into the bathroom to wash my eye out and try and get the eyelash out it hurt really bad. When I came out of the bathroom I was in so much pain my eye hurt so bad I was crying but trying not to let DD see me I knew it would scare her for sure. I told DH that I think I did something really bad to my eye so I needed to go to the hospital to have it looked at the pain was so intense. Long story short when we walked up to the little booth at the exit of the park to ask where was the best place to catch a cab to get to the hospital next thing I know the ambulance was there within a few minutes and all anyone kept asking was did I watch the fireworks and I kept saying no but they kept asking. They washed my eye out really good in the ambulance and the coolness really made it feel better. Turns out they think I somehow by the wind carrying it got a piece of firework in my eye. I slept with a cold cloth on my eye all night, took advil and wore sunglasses inside and out for the next 3 day's because sun light really hurt. Disney people called our room a few times to see how I was and Maxine got around 4 free pins from the people who helped us that night for her lanyard. Everyone was really nice and showed lots of concern and compassion.
STORY # 2
Same year as above same trip we were on Disney Cruise before Disney. DD was playing on the beach as Castaway Cay. We were getting ready to leave to get ready for dinner when I notice a ton of blood dripping from her ear and all pooled in it. I FREAKED OUT to say the least. A Disney person scooped her up even before DH and I could and this big big guy said follow me and ran her all the way through the sand up the walk to the emergency hut. They radioed for a cart that was there in like 30 seconds. Dripping wet there was only room for DD and I so we jumped on the cart and they zoomed to the boat as fast as it would go and in turn sent another on for DH to get him to the boat right behind us. Usually you have to swipe your key to the world card, and show ID to get back on the ship. Not this time they swooped us right past everyone and past the check point into the ship and straight to the doc. All the while her ear was pooring out blood all over. Well after a good looking at and cleaning turns our she scratched the inside of her ear no big deal. The doc stopped the bleading no problem and sent us on our way. That night after getting back from dinner there was a little pin on her bed ( she got a lot of pins this trip LOL) the doc also called to check on her later.

Here goes...My daughter was about 5 years old and playing on the pop century playground. She was doing a flip and hurt her foot. It looked okay to me. We went to bed and in the morning went to Epcot and walked all day. That evening when she was in the bath, she said her foot still hurt. By the time I looked at it, her little foot was so bruised it was black. It turns out she broke her pinkie toe near the joint and the bone slid over and next to the bottom part of the toe. gross....by the time I took her to the ed, they said either surgery or nothing...we opted for nothing and she now has a fat little pinkie toe, it's a miracle, but it still bends...LOL Is this also a bad time to mention that I'm a nurse...heehee:laughing:

On our trip last year we were at DHS for Fantasmic. Before the show the nice little girl in front of us shared some glow sticks with DS5 and DD3. Very nice of her and the kids were really excited. Anyway, after the show we were slowly making our way out of the park when DS starts crying that his eyes hurt. He has sensitive eyes so we stopped to see if he had gotten something in them. He was crying harder and harder and we got to a bathroom to try to wash them out. That didn't help so DH and I decided to go to first aid. Well, the park was closing and First aid wasn't open. Luckily the customer service area was so we went in there. A manager quickly came out to find out what was wrong...as DS was screaming at the top of his lungs. They took us into a room and called the Disney Paramedics came really fast. A few eye washes later and he was fine. We finally figured out that he had gotten the chemical from the glow stick in his eye. When we looked at the stick there was a little hole so it must have been leaking. It got on his shirt so when he rubbed his eyes it made it worse.
Disney was GREAT though. They asked DS what his favorite character was and gave him a big stuffed Mickey! By the time we left it was about an hour after park close and we were trying to figure out how we were going to get back to POP but we went out to the buses and the CM had called and had a bus stay just for us.
The next day, DD bumped her chin and cut her lip on the Winnie the Pooh ride at MK. Right away a CM came over to help, took DD and said "Let's find you something to make you feel better." I think DD thought she was getting a Mickey too but she ended up with a really big lolly pop. But it did make her stop crying!

The same thing happened to my uncle's girlfriend! She was walking along, trying to get a glimpse of those darn garbage pails or whatever they're called, and BOOM! hit a lady's chair. She apologized, and the woman didn't even realize that she hit her chair! :rotfl:
After her quick trip to the hospital, my uncle rented her a WC. Normally, she'd follow toward the back (it was a family gathering - them, my other uncle, my mother, and my grandmother). Now that he was pushing his gf in the wc, my grandmother was the last follower in line. His gf told him to wait up for his mother, and, I kid you not, he said "But we're going to miss all the rides!" (and umm.. he was around 40 - with no children - at this time :lmao: )
When I was around 6 maybe? we stayed at POFQ. ("We" being me, my mother & grandmother). Every day, we'd have breakfast at the resort before going to the park. Every morning, my mother would get coffee. Every morning, she'd spill it ALL OVER the place! It got to the point where the custodian would see her enter, and stand next to her the whole time, waiting for her to spill her coffee. :lmao:
I don't think there's really been anything major, thankfully!

On our recent trip, my wife and kids got locked in a family bathroom for an hour during my ride on Everest. I came off the ride only to find out via cel phone, that she couldn't get out and needed help. An hour later and nine employees, they had the door open. To say the least, Disney went above and beyond to make up for our lost hour. We will always remember the special attraction they got to experience. I should have taken a picture of the family room for the album.

OMG.... I have severe claustrophobia ...I would have freaked!!
Anyway, I have 2 stories from 2 trips....
In 2004, we were walking through Tommorowland, I was holding my DD (4 -at the time) hand and heard a loud "gong" sound! She had walked into one of the drinking fountains! She developed a huge, black and purple bruise...right in the middle of her forehead!
Now when we look at our photo album we still laugh because in all the pictures you can see this bruise.
In 2007 my DH was doing some stretching exercises in the morning and pulled a muscle so severely in his back that he fell to the floor. He stayed in bed for 2 days , (our Epcot days, we still went)... At our TS meals they were very accomodating and gave me his meal as a take out. The third day of his injury we were going to MGM so he ended up renting a scooter thingy...
He never did make it to Epcot that trip....

I have nothing on some of these posts but a few interesting ones from onver the 30+ years of visiting.
There was my sister getting Impetigo from licking the handrails all over WDW way back on our 1st visit about 6 mos after the park opened.
Than in '79 when we went to DL and another sister wandered off, everyone panicked to where she was, only to hear an overhead announcement (I think, I can't remember that well, I was 9) to come get her only to find her chatting away with the security guards about 50 ft away, not a care in the world, like nothing was wrong.
On my second visit with my wife and 3 kids, my son got a splinter in his thumb that got all oozy and infected, went to first aid at EPCOT. I had to do the deed of removing the offending particle, but the ladies there could not have been nicer to us and made my son, who by that time was a slobbering ball of sweat and tears, calm down.
Oh, and finally, there was the time I unfolded the jogging stoller getting off the bus, with the base of my thumb unknowingly in the way. I just about had the thing opened up all the way before the pain hit me, it happend so quickly. Imagine putting your thumb in a nutcracker. I could not move my thumb, thought I had broken it, just destroyed the joint. One the first bus ride of the first day. Thankfully, no break and by the third day I was back to normal, just mild pain.

On a trip back in 2004--we were heading to the airport when DH complained that he wasn't feeling well. By the time we landed in Orlando he was really sick--coming out of both ends so to speak.
We checked in at the Contemporary and he dragged himself to MK for a few hours. That night at dinner I had a steak and he had a plain baked potato. He still wasn't better the next day.
Guest services at the Contemporary was great, giving us directions to the nearest outpaitent clinic--funny they didn't send us to Celebration. Anyway, they put DH on anti-nausea meds and anti-diarrhea meds which knocked him out completely for the next 12-14 hours.
I stayed in the room watching tv during that time and had room service bring me dinner that night. I was afraid to leave him alone.
But he was a trooper--going into the parks for the afternoons for a day or two and then finally spending the day there. He had picked up food poisoning at home and brought it with him. That was a memorable trip!:rotfl:

Hmm..mine didn't happen at the park, but the day before we left this past January. It wasn't so bad because we we're driving (<3 hrs), but I hurt my knee really badly. I didn't know what was wrong at that point, but it was swollen and I couldn't bend it and then walked around Disney all weekend. Turns out I tore my meniscus and needed surgery. I just started physical therapy this week.

First story, my ex and I were at Epcot, by Mexico, waiting for the fireworks (2000?) and a dad was running by with his daughter on his shoulders. All we could do was watch as he tripped over one of those fake "prop" boxes cemented to the ground. He fell and got back up. BUT, he LAUNCHED his daughter about 10 feet and she landed face first into another box! We rushed to help, but the dad keep mumbling how they where late for the fireworks and grabbed the girl and ran off. She, by the way, was completely bloody and screaming about her teeth! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We never heard him ask if she was ok. It still freaks me out when I see kids on parents shoulders.
Second, same trip, I was sliding my hand along the wooden rail at BTMRR. Dumb. I got a sliver and we went on the ride. It hurt. We kept going. By the time we made it over to Main Street, my index finger was twice it's size and a little oozy. The first aid nurse gave me a clean needle and tweezers and I dug it out. She cleaned it up and gave me a Mickey sticker for "being a brave girl." I was 25 at the time.

Me, I'm bad. I tried to reach into the back of our SUV to grab something right as my husband was slamming it shut. (why do guys have to use ALL their force on doors?) Anyway, I was knocked out and bleeding all over disney's parking lot. Even worse I was l laying in a pile of ants! Anyway I had lots of blood and I was taken to Celebration Hospital where they stapled me head together with about 10 staples and let me go on my way. We went back to Magic Kingdom and I bought a hat right away to cover my bloody hair (you should have seen the looks on the tram!) So I enjoyed the rest of my day with hat, blood soaked hair, guilt ridden hubby and a very happy 2 year old!

The only thing I've got is:
On our first trip to Orlando/Disney circa 1978 (me 13, Dsis 14, Dsis twin 14, DM, DDad): It was the first time in our lives we ever had sunburns.. and there were blisters.. on chins shoulders and noses (had spent part of day at a water park).
But our Dad got the prize: standing outside one of the stores maybe on Main Street, a bird crapped on his head & shirt! (that's something falling out of the sky, not a lightbulb!)
I'm knocking on wood that nothing worse happens! Especially after reading how easily things have happened to others here!

:rotfl2: I'm sorry, but this one has me laughing out loud!!! I can hear the sound of a horsewhip slapping through the air & tagging him in the forehead!!!! :rotfl2:
I feel so sorry for everyone else on here! Such horrible accidents! We will have to be SUPER careful on our next trip b/c you all have me scared to death! The worst that has happened to us is bad road rash at Typhoon Lagoon (in the wave pool!) DD has a nice round scar beside her knee from being knocked down 2 yrs ago. (It happens to us every year--you think we'd learn.)
But, there was a 20ish guy in first aid when we went in & his back was COMPLETELY SKINLESS!!!!!!!!!! It was SO gross. He said he was laying down as the waves were coming & the 1st one dragged him back the whole way ON HIS BACK!!! It makes me sick thinking about it.

My little girl's face swelled up like she had mumps and I thought for sure it was a food allergy, although she's never be allergic to anything before. Took her to the urgent care place and it was an infected salivary gland. Wild! They gave her an antibiotic and prescribed to her to eat lots of sour candy to increase saliva production. She was back to normal in two days, but her photos at Cinderella's table don't even look like her. It was so sad! princess:

Yup, no problems, they actually said that it's not uncommon during fireworks shows anywhere.
Oh, this happened to me too last September for Hallowishes. Due to bad timing on the part of some friends who were to meet us for the MNNSHP, we ended up watching Hallowishes from the center of Fantasyland, right next to the carousel. It was quite spectacular, but we had to watch looking straight up, and at some point I got some sort of ash or other debris in my eye. It felt sharp, so I knew not to rub it. Fortunately, one of our group had contact solution on her, and I was able to rinse it out enough that it stopped hurting a short while later.

For some reason, my mom and I have very bad luck with our feet while at WDW.
In '93 my mom somehow managed to slice open the very top of her big toe on the corner of a glass display shelf while browsing a store at DHS. I really have no clue how it happened - she was standing there looking at something, shifted her feet forward to grab whatever it was she was buying and the next thing I knew there was blood everywhere. It was gross. IIRC, we went to first aid, they cleaned up the cut, stuck a band-aid on there and called it a day. She couldn't go in the pool or to the waterparks for a few days after it happened because the cholorine would have hurt like heck. But other than that, she was fine.
Fast forward to 2005. First day of my trip. We had just put our luggage in our room at Pop Century and were heading out to the parks. I misjudged how much room the door needed to open. Pulled it open right over my right foot (I was wearing flip-flops at the time) and ended up slicling off the skin on the top of my big toe. Just like my mom did years before. *facepalm*
Not bad accidents by any stretch of the imagination, but there you have it.

About 3 years ago my dd (now 6 then 3) burned her entire fingers and palm at Chef Mickey's Character breakfast. We were on line going through the buffet & she asked me if she could have pancakes. She then quickly reached out to get the tongs for the pancakes and her little hand went flat onto the griddle where the chef was cooking the pancakes on the line. It was a split second and her entire hand was blistered almost immediately. The handling of it by the staff was HORRIBLE and resulted in an in depth follow up by the head of guest relations at WDW resort. It was unbelievable to me that the griddle was right on the buffet line at waist level (which is child level) & there was no shield etc to block anyone from reaching out and touching it at all. In fact I had almost made the same error a split second before. This of course happened on the first day of our trip so my dd spent our entire vacation with a blistered left hand & a big fear of Chef Mickey's.

Our worst accident effected Mousekeeping more then me. We were ate a buffet, not sure which one and my son who was probably about 11 ate too much. I thought he would have a stomach ache. We were staying at the WL in a bunkbed room. At 2am I hear him shout out "MOM" I turn over and he leans over the bed and vomits 2 times on the floor and rolls over back to sleep. Thank god he was on the bottom bunk because i hate to think of what would have happen to daughter if he was on the top and she was on the bottom. We did the best to clean up and in the AM warned and apologized to mousekeeping.
Back in the day when River Country exsisted my daught tumbled face first down some rock steps. He mouth was gushing blood. We went to the nurse station. Thank goodness she had all her teeth, no stitches but ripped dug her teeth into her lips and scraped up her face. Thant night we had to have dinner with my DH boss at Ohanas and she looked a mess. The only thing that was worth eating with the pain was shrimp.

years ago the sidewalks entering the circle in front of the Castle at MK had poles in the middle of them that chains would be attached for crowd control. I was walking along with button fly jeans not paying attention and caugh one of these poles right in the braut and potatos. I eventually had kids so no harm done....but it was pretty painful down there for a while. lol pirate:

Last Feb. in the middle of our trip DD10 & DS2.5 and went down the twisty slide in the fossil dig pit at AK.
Note to self - No more slide at AK...

Somehow I sliced my thumb at AK in Dinoland...no idea how but lots of blood and OUCH!!!
DD has had 2 Celebration Hospital visits for seizures...
DD also had the flu for 5 days during our 7 day trip.
These are not really accidents but they are things that made our trips not fun!!!

Hi All, I'll share my little accident..
I was on Splash Mountain wearing flip flops , when we stopped I stood up and I felt that my foot was in water but when I looked down I was standing in a pool of blood..I popped of the nail of my big toe !! Medics were there immediately and the ride was closed for cleaning!:rolleyes1
Next time I visit Disney {August 2009:yay:} I will once again ride on Splash mountain but I will not wear FLIP FLOPS !!
