Oh, we are "Aniversary Buddies"--DH and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on 5/25 as well! We are booked and planning on it unless something doesn't work out with leaving the kids so close to the end of the schoool year.

Yes..I will be on the May 23, 2010 cruise with daughter, son-in-law, 15 yr old grandson, and 18 yr old step grandson.
This will be my 2nd Dis cruise as I went on the 2006 DVC Member cruise..by myself.
Was ok sailing alone except for having to pay for 2 in room...I used DVC points.
They put me at a table with 3 other women which was fine except the women were totally out of touch with reality.
They thought we were going to Nassau to a casino. I had to break the news that we were going to Castaway Cay..TWICE. I don't think they believed me at first.
A highlight was being invited to the Roy Disney suite for cocktails...never did find out why. He was not there at the time.
Really looking forward to this cruise.

TheBeadPirate~that would be great if you want to keep the list for the exchange! I am hoping that the kids will still enjoy doing it even though they are teens. I know my DD loved it last year, she is so crafty and enjoys making things, and my DS would always be the one to remind us to deliver the surprises each day! ;)
We have never gone on a late Spring/early Summer cruise, so this will be interesting to see how different the weather will be.

Hi Everyone
My Mom and I are on booked on this cruise. We only booked a short time ago and have already been blessed with some pixiedust:. A radio station here in Canada is currently sailing on the Wonder and announced just yesterday that there was a 25% discount available for Canadians. I called DCL and sure enough they applied the discount to my reservation. Even better we upgraded our cabin and were assigned to a secret verandah room pixiedust:pixiedust:.
We last cruised in the Fall of 2008 on the Magic for the Western Caribbean itinerary and had the best time. We joined in on the fun of the pre-trip cruise meet thread and it was great "talking" to others who were eagerly anticipating the fun of Disney.
We are looking forward to joining in the fun again. :)

Just got home from work and am so glad to see that we didn't chase everyone off. It has almost become tradition in our house to get through the Canadian winters by daydreaming of some Florida sunshine in May. We are very much looking forward to a relaxing cruise and a few days at Disney. Count us in for the FE...TheBeadPirate (Lori) I will pm you our information. Disneycr8zy - really hoping you decide to join the FE. Its so much fun finding some small token of the cruise tucked into the FE. Doesn't have to be a major expense or time-consumer. We have a small treasure box of "stuff" from our last cruise and it brings back great memories.

Hey there,
We will be on the ship the same time as you all and I was wondering have you booked with an agent who is offering on board credit for bookings by Feb 3? If not we have a friend that is offering on board credits if you transfer to her agency. She has been wonderful to us as we decided which cruise to take and when. They just took a cruise over Christmas break and told us how fantastic it was! I have posted her info below and if you want you can check out her website.
Let me know if you are interested I can send you the info :)
It won't let me post info since I am new to this site.
Her e mail is chrissy at happilyeveraftertravel.net

Yep. We pick up our keys on Friday. We are eventually going to buy a place but until we know where we want to be in FL we are renting a place near property. We should be able to see Wishes from our patio.
And I'm hoping the FL rates on DCL means we can cruise some more!:yay:

Thanks for the "Welcome" Mousehse. After reading these boards I am familiar with the fish extenders. Until I know which airline I am booking with I don't want to commit at this time. We are staying at WDW after the cruise for a week. As I tend to bring everything short of the kitchen sink I may not be able to stuff anything more. But I know DD:cheer2: and DS:cool1: would love to participate so I will attempt to engage the creative side of my brain for fun ideas.:dance3:

Wow...that's awesome!!! My dream for sure :cloud9:. To bad for me we live north of the border. If I was on the south side, I would be packing up for the palm trees and fireworks pronto. Many people have tried to convince me that I would miss the change of seasons, but I always tell them I would rather visit the change of seasons than visit the land of palm trees :beach: So now you are only about a day away from that patio...enjoy...and hold down the fort until we get there:goodvibes

Love looking forward to vacation....the looking forward part always lasts soooooo much longer than the actual vacation part (unfortunately). We are searching for fish extender ideas at this point to. Packing is always a challenge ... last time we included a beach football with a Canadian maple leaf logo in each package we distributed. We had a carry on full of footballs!:rotfl:

Hi there! Wondering if we could join the list? We just booked today for this cruise. It'll be my family of 7, with dh and I and our kids, ages 12, 11, 8, 6, and 4, my parents, and my dh's uncle. It's everyone's first cruise, and even though I am so excited, I am freaking out since it was a last minute change to the trip I have had planned for a year, and I know how my fellow disboarders can relate to feeling unprepared for anything Disney.:rotfl2:

Thanks for the welcome mousehse! I had to research what the FE exchange was about when I came on the cruise boards a few weeks ago. I am an avid sewer, and I know my kids would love to be a part of it, so we'd love to sign up. I picked up the Passporter book this morning so I am hoping to pour over it today and learn what I need, but I am sure I will have questions, so I appreciate the help. We were lucky not to get any of the snow the other day, but we are supposed to get hit pretty good today/tomorrow.

I can't seem to find an answer to this question. It sounds like rates for cells are too expensive. So how do you contact your other family members on board the ship? with 2 way radios, dry erase boards message on doors, messages on cabin phones, or do you prearrange meeting places and times?

I am still hoping that this is a go also...it was soooo much fun last time we cruised. The last time we participated there was a whole lot more "chitter chatter" on the cruise meet thread ahead of time. Also, the lady that volunteered to organize the fish extender groups created one post that gave each groups dis-board posting name, the members of their group (eg. mom, dad, dd8 and ds4), any dietary restrictions (eg. diabetic) and any special occasion (eg. birthday). The post was updated as a group joined. It was lots of fun to see the size of the group and have some idea of how many people to plan for. Maybe we could convince TheBeadPirate to create such a post:flower3:

Hi OkieMB
Looking forward to mementos from your state...love the little things everyone seems to share from their own corner of the world. Sorry to say that I can't help your ds ... mine is now 19 and not travelling with us this time. It's always been myself, my son and my mom travelling, so this time is going to be very different. I'm sure your son will find a travelling friend.
As for the PM thing ... quite simple ... just click on the posting name of the person you want to send a PM to and you will be directed to the window where you can type your message.

So sorry that you will not be joining our cruise on May 23, but I am sure you will have a great time no matter which cruise you are on.
As long as there are no objections, I would be willing to organize the FE exchange. If you want to PM me the sheet you have started, I will pick up the reigns and continue.

We are as also with the anniversary crowd. Celebrating our 20th on the 26th. Going without the kids and it's our first cruise ever! Will spend one full day and two nights at WDW before the cruise. Staying at Pop and have reservations for Californa Grill during Wishes on Friday. Epcot on Saturday with Rose and Crown reservations during Illuminations. Now the final piece if the puzzle is to get Palo reservations for the actual annivesary day on Wednesday. That will make it just about a perfect week.
Maybe we'll see some of you on the ship.

Hey - do we have any other 9 -10 year old boys on the cruise. My son is concerned there won't be anyone his age. With myself, grandma and my five year old daughter he is surrounded by girls all the time. At this age he doesn't see that as a good thing.:lmao:

Thanks for the welcome mousehse! I had to research what the FE exchange was about when I came on the cruise boards a few weeks ago. I am an avid sewer, and I know my kids would love to be a part of it, so we'd love to sign up. I picked up the Passporter book this morning so I am hoping to pour over it today and learn what I need, but I am sure I will have questions, so I appreciate the help. We were lucky not to get any of the snow the other day, but we are supposed to get hit pretty good today/tomorrow.
Hi MMmomto5
An avid sewer? That should be fun! I also love to do handcrafts, but my Mom is the sewer in our family. I do know how to sew, but seem to end up knitting, cross-stitching and recently trying my hand at scrapbooking. I noticed that your family was not yet included on TheBeadPirate's FE summary. Please either post or PM me your information and I will add it to the FE summary on post # 70.

Hi hchik05
I'm going to try answering the questions in your post...
1. Wondering how many people are doing it on the 5/23/2010 wonder cruise? ... please see my post #70 (page 5) which is a summary of all those who have currently signed up for the FE exchange
2. Wondering if it was "traditional" to gift one thing per cabin or per person? ... you can give however you wish. You can give one gift for the whole cruise, one per day, one per cabin, or one per person. Please do not spend a lot of money or time. It is just supposed to be fun for all involved, the giver and recipient.
3. Will i be given a copy of the list of where these people r located or do i just search the halls looking for fe's? ... after the Friday, May 7, 2010 sign-up deadline date I will send out a PM to everyone with the final FE list.
 In addition, we could also consider a quick DIS group meet before the safety drill on embarkation day. I could bring some extra copies of our FE distribution list for those missing their copy.
I have added a couple of FE links to our FE summary (post #70, page 5) which should help generate some FE ideas.
Have a nice day, :goodvibes

Just passed the 'newbie' 75 day make your online reservations point and amazingly got all the times I wanted. Or maybe not all that amazing.
So I've looked a bit at what FE's ARE, but not what goes in them.
I'm not going to commit right now, since I have to talk to DW (she's the seamstress, I can do OK to sew up a rip, but not to make a FE).
We're going to BLT on the 17th then over to the cruise. She just surprised me with two days after the cruise at AKV! Going to be a great vacation.
SO, should we do the FE's?

This will be our first ever cruise,it is a late honeymoon for my husband and I,I am very excited, glad to see there will also be some others couples on here as well! Will be bringing my boys in 2011 if we enjoy it,which I am sure we will! It is Disney after all!
A few questions,,,I keep reading FE? What is this FE? and I have seen photos of peoples names in magnets on the doors,,is that something you do yourself?
So excited, and any tips you all may have for us,would be wonderful!
See you all on board!
May23rd!!!
OK,,,so I think I get this whole Fish Extender thing,,,so,now my questions is,,,do we make it and bring it,and hang it on our door,or will it go to someone else? Around how many gifts would we need to bring to go in other FE's?
Also,I have read that they have adult game show type games as well as the family ones on board?
I have SO MANY questions, that can not be answered by calling the 800 # LOL
so anyone that has cruised before that can let me know some fun adult activities on board,I would so appreciate it!

Hi LotsaMickey
This is your formal :welcome: to our May 23 cruise meet thread. I actually just responded to the PM you sent me. Hope I was able to answer your FE questions.
Quoting your first post ... "I have read that they have adult game show type games as well as the family ones on board? I have SO MANY questions, that can not be answered by calling the 800 # LOL so anyone that has cruised before that can let me know some fun adult activities on board,I would so appreciate it!"
I definitely don't have all the answers, but here are a couple of links that I hope you will find helpful in answering some of your questions. The first contains copies of the Navigators from a 4-night cruise. Navigators are your guide to all activities, dining, etc on the ship. A Navigator for embarkation day is available when you board the ship and then they are left in your stateroom each night for the next day's activities. The second link is the FAQ thread here on the Disney Cruise Line Forum...

The photos of peoples names in magnets on the doors is something that you do yourself. We always print directly onto magnetic paper. The rule for this is ... no tape.
Again, sorry I wasn't able to respond more quickly ... I actually work 2 separate jobs so Tues - Fri keeps me busy from about 6am through 9pm.:surfweb: Oh well, the 2nd job is my "fun" job and allows us the pleasure of dreaming about our next Disney adventure.:sunny:

Hi bobbyclobber :welcome: to our May 23 cruise meet thread. I responded to your PM a short while ago. Hope I was able to answer your questions.
Curious what other ships you have cruised on. We are a Disney family and tend to gravitate to Disney for the vast majority of our vacation time. I am guessing that all of you are going to LOVE your Disney cruise. :lovestruc
I have added your family information to both the roll-call and FE summaries on post #'s 69 & 70 (page 5). As for the fish extender, you make your own and hang it on the pewter fish that is on the wall outside your stateroom door. Others who have joined the FE exchange will leave their treasures for you. As far as what you would like to leave for others in the group ... there are really no rules. You can give however you wish. You can give one gift for the whole cruise, you can give one per cabin, or one per person. Gifts can be made or bought. Each family may choose what they wish to do. Of course, the minimum is to give at least one gift per family. Shouldn't cause stress for anyone. It's just a fun thing to find something in your FE as you return to your room.
TIP: You may want to consider bringing a zip-tie to secure your FE to the pewter fish ... there have been occassions where they have been known to "swim away".:sad2:
There are two links that I added to the bottom of post #70 which may help get your FE gift imagination juices flowing
Also, here is a link to directions on how to make a no-sew FE...

Hi Brenda
Work is done for another day! Half day tomorrow and then the break I really look forward to each week. It was an extremely beautiful day here in southern Ontario ... close to 20 degrees celcius (about 68 degrees fahrenheit). Broke the record for this day:sunny:
You have really tried a number of other cruise lines ... should be interesting to see how you feel Disney compares. My mom, son and I have been vacationing with Disney since he was young. I guess it has provided the perfect blend of family fun, something for everyone and a feeling of security. I have to admit that other reports of cruise lines with less expensive price tags has sounded appealing, but our final decision always takes us back to Disney.
We are flying into Orlando the day before our cruise departs and spending two nights after at the Polynesian ... just can't be that close to the world without spending some time enjoying the magic. We have visited WDW many times, but never stayed at the Polynesian. We are looking forward to watching Wishes from the beach and having a pineapple dole whip
Not sure about next year ... maybe 7-night Eastern Caribbean??? We would really love to see those beautiful islands that come straight up out of the ocean. You're right ... what a life :thumbsup2

Lucky! I tried to,but by the time I went to sign up,they had shut it down because they had hit 1 million volunteers!
We will still be spending one day at Disney, just not sure if it will be the 27th or 28th yet....

Hi hchik05 and LotsaMickey
You both mention meeting up on board. A while ago I mentioned we could also consider a quick DIS group meet before the safety drill on embarkation day. I could bring some extra copies of our FE distribution list for those missing their copy. I think the idea got lost in the shuffle. I'm in if anyone else is interested.:woohoo:

Hi Everyone
Looks like there is gathering interest in an onboard cruise meet for our DIS group. Anyone got ideas on timing and/or location? The safety drill is at 4:00, so I was thinking about a meet and greet sometime around 2:45 or 3:00??? As for location, maybe by the drink station on deck 9??? What do you all think?

On past cruises, we've done 3:00 at the Promenade Lounge (deck 3 midship)...There's normally nobody else there at that time which makes it easy...but anywhere works for me

I have mentioned this roll call and Fe to friends who are (to bad for them) not joining us on the cruise they think this is the best thing ever .We are all about having fun and it sounds like we have a few here who might be as well .
For those who have done the ports before any suggestions on a day in Nassau. We were thinking Blue Lagoon any comments to this all opinions welcome . Not interested in spending the money in Atlantis .Way too much for a day and the kids may not be up for the extreme water sports .

We are in too Wendy! I am excited....Just let us know when and where, and we will hopefully find it LOL
Our flight is due to land at MCO at 10:30am
Then we are taking the Disney shuttle to the port,,,they haven't sent me anything saying what time the shuttle will pick us up as of yet,,I may call to find out,but I can only assume they will get us to the port by noonish? Anyone know anything about this?
Also, since this is our first cruise, can anyone tell me,I see pictures of people on deck and ports, and they have a lanyard around their necks with the key to the world card attached,,,do they give those out on board,or is that something we should buy? Anyone do the pin trading either?
I also tell everyone about the FE and meeting up with people on board.
I am so excited to meet new people!
Hope we can all have some fun on board together!
Also,,we are not doing anything as of yet in Nassau, the one thing we wanted to do(sealion encounter) is booked up,,,we were going to do the blue lagoon thing, but when I called about more details,EVERYTHING you do once you get to that beach, costs extra, and I figure, why pay $70 per person to just sit....think we may walk around, see some sights on our own, then hang out on the ship!
Anyone who has done this before and has any ideas of good places to check out at that port, please let me know!
Thanks!
63 days!!!

They only give lanyards for the key to the world card if you are a return Disney cruiser...There is pin trading with officers, some cast members and the staff in the merchandise shops. Personally I love to pin trade on the ship although there are not enough staff involved (in comparison to the parks where the majority of the staff have lanyards with pins to trade)... hope this helps!

Hi Brenda
The last time we stopped at Nassau was the first time we had been off of mainland North America. We really weren't sure if we were going to get off the ship. However, once we neared the port and could see Atlantis towering in front of us there was no way we were staying on the ship. We splurged (big time) and booked the Aquaventure at Atlantis. Was it really expensive...you bet; do I regret it...not in the slightest. We had a great day, felt safe and have wonderful memories. This time, we have decided to do the Blue Lagoon Beach Day. I would not really consider ourselves "beach bums", but we have read a number of reviews and both the boat ride over to the island, and the island itself sound wonderful ... a slice of paradise. We did a dolphin encounter in Cozumel and had an unbelievably great day, so we are passing on that. This time we are just looking for relaxation, relaxation, relaxation...just give me a palm tree, hammock, and a good book...lol!
Oh, and the countdown is now 63 days until our cruise sets sail :cool1:

Hi, I've been looking at the thread this weekend and trying to decide what we were wanting to do in regards to the FE/DIS meeting -- husband is like whatever, so I say "Let's Do It!!" -- we are all really excited -- okay so maybe not ALL -- Rusty (4 son) and I(Steph) -- Art(husband) and Lauren(15 daughter) are not as excited, but they are both like it is too far away yet to get too excited! We are ready for our first real family vacation -- never flew for vacation before as a family -- just usually do the Branson thing or something. So, this is a big deal for us. Below is our info for the FE list. We are up for meeting wherever you all say to meet and whatever time. We are coming in 2 days early and doing the Sea World thing -- should be fun -- Lauren got to chose the park since it was her brother that wanted the "Mickey Boat" cruise. I think this will be good for us since we have such a wide range in kid's ages. Anyone have any teenagers around her age going to be on the boat? Anyways, we are doing the Blackbeard's Cay Stingray & Beach Adventure -- seem interesting and not bad priced. Husband and Daughter are Parasailing at Castaway Cay. Sorry to go on and on!!! Just really excited about all of this -- my sister in law has been on 2 DIS Cruises and loved them -- already scheduled here 3rd.
Question -- she said to get the pins to trade -- won some on eBay to take, but from the last few posts -- do we need to bring our own Lanyards? Since, this is our first cruise.

You can buy lanyards on the ship if you are first time cruisers...they are like $12 I believe...There are a whole bunch to choose from, different characters an what not...
The lanyards they give out are based on your cruise level status (if you have taken 1-5 previous cruises with Disney you are Silver, 6-10 gold, 11+ platinum). Those lanyards are just the color of your status and say castaway cay club gold (or something like that I don't have my old one to look at right now). Not necessarily stunning or fun looking, but they fulfill their purpose. There are also different stateroom gifts based on your status and other small perks.

Hi Steph
:welcome: to you and your family. I am sure it won't take long before all 4 of you are excited about cruising with the Mouse. My son is kind of the same ... he always seems to have a "take it or leave it attitude", but then has a great time and talks about the fun and memories even years later. I believe that the lanyards Disney gives out are to returning cruisers, so for this time you would have to buy your own. I have added your family information to both the roll-call and FE summaries.
It seems our "little" cruise meet is gaining momentum. It has been a busy day ... fun! :cheer2:

Thanks for the quick reply about Lanyards -- I thought that may be the way it was -- bring your own or buy there, not here you go have a free one on us. :) Found a new one on eBay that my son would like with Buzz and Woody and just won the bid -- $6.00 with s/h -- go me!! So, productive weekend -- won 20 pins to take and trade, bought lanyard for one, signed up for FE -- too fun!!! Unfortunately, the not so fun part -- buying a swim suit!! O'well -- I'm sure I will find something!

LotsaMickey -- I meant that we won the auction on the pins -- we were bidding on one set of pins and someone out bid us, but on the second set we won the bidding -- not a bad deal at all (at least I don't think) -- we bought 20 pins for $20.50 -- little over $1 a pin -- all brand new -- but it was just on 20 pins -- no guarantee on what the pins are, just that they are Disney and new -- really hoping for a Buzz pin or hope we can trade for one -- Rusty's favorite and then hoping for something the 15 yr old will find fun! You should search Disney Pins Lot and see what you find -- like I said most seem to be new pins but no guarantee on what style, just that you will not received duplicates -- just means maybe more to trade if you get some you don't like!! :) Happy bidding -- Sorry for being confusing with the term "won".

First, :welcome: to the newest members of our DIS cruise meet ... the pdietz family. Glad you found us and can join in the fun of anticipating the upcoming cruise. I have added your family to the "Roll Call" list on post #69. If you would like to join the fish extender exchange, just let me know.
Second, :cool1::cool1::cool1: for the LotsaMickey crew that got to book the Sea Lion encounter at Blue Lagoon.
Third, JohnPA (John and Pam) have decided to join the FE exchange :thumbsup2. I have added them to the list on post #70.

I don't want to bother spending the time and money to make the FE if we are not going to do it.

Any ideas on what we should do?
Cancel or anyone else want to step up to handle the FE stuff?

JohnPA -- Thanks for stepping up to the plate -- I'm with LotsaMickey, never done this before and just was afraid to take over -- I really appreciate you saying you could handle it for us.
Just wondering -- post #69 has us all, but no room numbers -- are you going to create something that has this, or get everyone's info at the meeting? Do I need to PM our room number to you and an email for you to send a list to? Personally, I'm okay either way -- if it is too much work -- we can just go off the #69 post to figure out how much stuff we need for the FE and print it then add room numbers when we get to the meeting. Just curious -- don't want it to be a pain -- just FUN!!!!
If there is anything you can think of that I could do to help -- let me know.

Take a look at post 70. It has all the stateroom numbers except for hchic05 and tink576 that are gty status. We can update once onboard and they know their stateroom numbers.
I've put the info into a spreadsheet and was thinking of putting it up on google docs for all to see. You need to create a login for google if you don't already have one though. What do you all think? Put it up there or keep editing here? Only problem is I can't edit the original list on post #70 so I'd have to start yet another post to find.
You all can PM me, I'll set it up to go to my email so I get it on my phone right away.
EDIT - put up on GoogleDocs. Here's the link, you should be able to view without signing in. Let me know if there are any problems.

lotsamickey,
i was told that a width of 8 1/2'' was perfect, if it were any wider it would be too big and hit your room door and wouldn't sit right. i found a post on here that has step-by-step instructions on how to make a "NO SEW" FE.i don't know how handy with a needle and thread you are(ANYBODY is better than i am) but if you were sewing i'm sure u could just follow the same guidelines. hope this works:

LotsaMickey -- I actually do a lot of sewing, but decided that my FE was going to be sew free -- So, I just bought some colored canvas bags (approx 6x8) and am using ribbon to hook them together -- no sewing at all! I asked each of my family members which disney character that they wanted to be and go iron on transfers for each one -- so, just some canvas bags with iron ons to give character and hooked together with ribbon. Super easy! I got the bags at Hobby Lobby, but I saw them at Joann's and Michaels as well.
Happy FE making!!!

The bag thing sounds great too!
Might have to do that,be much faster for me!
Where did you find iron on transfers?
I have been look for those and Disney patches, but am having no luck!
And JohnPA,,we are the second seating for dinner,,so I am guessing that is the late seating?
They asked if we wanted first seating, but we figure, since we are kid free,it was best to eat later,so we most likely wont be around a ton of kids that way, plus,we can manage to hold our hunger a bit longer too!
Does anyone know, since we are without children, will we have a table to ourselves? Or will they sit us with another family?
Never thought about that!

Yep, second seating is the late one. From what I've heard, DCL will try to put like people together. Adults without kids with others without kids, etc.

We ordered our iron ons off of eBay -- there are lots to chose from -- we just typed in the character we were looking for and iron on -- so search Buzz Lightyear Iron On and it pulls up several. The best deals seem to be from ironondiy. She combines shipping if you order more than one and has good ones to chose from especially if you are looking for a less known character like my family wanted! Art is Jack from Nightmare before Christmas, I'm Mulan, Lauren is Alice in Wonderland, and Rusty is Buzz Lightyear. Let me know if you need any more info -- also, most of these are Buy It Nows -- so you don't have wonder if you will win or not -- they have several they are selling.
Thanks!

I was curious to get some ideas of where people will be staying on the 22nd. I have tried to priceline up to $73 so far with no luck. I am tempted to just stay at wdw resort another night because with my brother cast member discount it will be only $60, but then I will be stuck paying $45 in parking. Does anyone know of any other hotels that offer free parking and shuttle service beyond the Radisoon and Country Inn and Suites?
We also have second dining.

Anyone else flying in the AM of the cruise?
We should land in Orlando at 10-10:30AM on the 23rd.

we also have second seating..we didn't have a choice, i booked online and it said first dining was full. so my 3 and 4 year old r gonna have to wait til 8-8:30 before they can eat dinner.it's a good thing they have snacks available all day to hold them over!
as far as the hotel stay on the 22nd, we only live a couple hours away but wanna get there early without waking at the crack of dawn. the cheapest place around the port i saw was like $65/night + tax&fees. plus $45 for parking at the port.(i don't know if you'll have a vehicle or not.)
but i booked country inn. after taxes it was about $135 and that includes a safe place to park your vehicle while you're on the cruise, and shuttle ride to and from the port( i read that it's $4/person otherwise.)

When you first get on board go straight to Rockin Bar D (or beat street I don't remember if they changed the name on the Wonder). There they can change dining reservations and if you go right away you should semi-simply be able to change your reservation to first seating. (No promises, but there is a good chance). Our family has been assigned 2nd seating many times, but we have always been able to change it on the ship to first seating.

i got a little book with the luggage tags, important info, a list of all the important documents u need to bring,airline/ground transportation info, itinerary info....pretty much stuff we already know, just reminding us.
i think WHEN you put on your tags depends on how your getting to the port because on mine it said, since i didn't have ground transportation (we're driving ourselves) to wait until we were at the port to put them on.

My first cruise I thought the same--I didn't want to be drowsy the entire vaction if I got sea sick, so I invested in the sea bands--they look a little nerdy-bit I think that they work. Here's why--on my 2nd cruise--7 night, the band was accidently packed in the suitcase instead of the carry on (this time I will pack). My husband, son and I got on the ship and realized this. With all the excitement (sail away party, pool, then the spa) I totally forgot we didn't have them, until I get to the dinner table--and I tell my husband that I don't feel so good. I attempted to eat dinner, but just wasn't what I needed; decide to settle with just a ginger ale, then went back to the room, and decide to take a Dramamine, and put on the bands. My son came in shortly after I did and said he didn't feel so hot--he ended up vomiting, and I had to call room service--which clean the mess while him and I just laid there, plus he made us a towel monkey for us to cuddle (that Disney!!!) The next morning the band were on and we both didn't have any more problems. So he is already asking where his bands are. I would suggest that you bring something just in case, if you feel that uneasy.

For the Dramamine and Bonine (non-drowsy Dramamine) - they are OTC (over the counter) medications, but sometimes are kept behind the counter so you need to ask for them. DW got a prescription for scopolamine patches. She tried at home first and they made her dizzy, so she got Bonine tablets instead. She hasn't tried them yet, but it's a good idea to try at home to see how you react. You don't want unpleasant side effects while at sea.
She also got bands from CVS drug store. They should be out there right with the Dramamine.
Don't underestimate the power of ginger capsules. Gingersnap cookies are ALWAYS in the car with us and help DW out a lot. And of course, ginger ale. Hmmm, is that at the soda station?

I was wondering,I read up about that Sea Safe, and was thinking about ordering it,when I thought,is it really worth it?
I know a lot of people who have done cruises before, and never even heard of it,and never had a problem,,,so I am not sure, has anyone used it before, and had it work? I know the chances of getting stung by a jelly are very rare, and yes,who wants to take that risk if you can stop it,but,I don't know....this is our first cruise,we lived in Fl. for a few years, and went to the gulf almost daily, and never once had any problems,is this something that is a problem in the Caribbean area,or just a precaution?
Thanks for any info!

Think I will keep watch on that as well....But,I am going to wing it and not buy that stuff,Think I will be fine without it,I think enough people have not heard of it,one of them being my cousin who teaches scuba diving and holds world records for free diving,he said he never heard of it before,so I can't imagine that it is really even needed, most likely it is a product that someone came up with, and as it may work,it is also not very likely to come across those things,I would defiantly think that Disney takes every precaution to keep the cruisers safe from those, and keeps the island very clean and well maintained,so I am not very worried,as I said,we lived at the beach practically, for 3 years, and never had any issues! So,I am just going to take my chances LOL

just added clmyers to the FE list.
There's a good thread running about homemade FE gifts here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639).
For more info on FEs and what goes in them, take a look at the FE entry in the FAQS here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639).

Well,I finally got my FE done! It looks cute, not bad for a first time sewer lol
If I knew how to post pictures on here,I would do so,But I don't know how =(
I will maybe put one up on the FB group tomorrow.
21 Days left to go,and we will be flying out and be on our way to the ship!.
Does anyone have anything that they would recommended us packing in our carry on bags?
We will have our cameras,FE,all things for the ship that we will need to get on,and my sea sick items,as well as my purse.
Is there anything else that anyone would suggest that would be helpful or useful to have as well?
As first timers,I figure asking you guys would be best, since you were once first timers, and could recommend something that you needed and had it packed in your luggage rather then your carry on.
Thanks!
See you all soon!

:hourglassCount us in on the exchange. There are 4 of us. Myself, mother, son -9 and daughter 5. No allergies. My son is concern there won't be any other's his age. I havent' seen any others listed on the other post or the exchange list but I'm sure he'll find a friend to hang with. Has anyone tried ordering SAFE SEA. It's a product mentioned on other threads that repels the sting of sea lice, small jelly fish and the like. I've ordered, been billed, but no product. Their website doesn't list a phone. The only contact is through email, which they have failed to reply to. I've contacted every local dive shop and they neither sell or have heard of it. Yes, I know I live in a land lock state but there actually are quite a few dive shops due to the large amount of lakes.:goodvibes
Tell your son not to worry there will be lots of kids--he just have to make the hard descion of who he will hang with, because there are so many activities. My son loved the lab at this age. And Mom, you need to be concern about what time he may come home--:hourglass

We're meeting at 3:00pm in the Promenade Lounge (deck 3, port side)
I need a favor from a Castaway Club member. I told a DISer here that I'd try to get a DCL Vinylmation for him, but you need to be a CC member to buy one. Thanks for any help!

 Ok, my apologies if I am doing this wrong, but i have always been a little to chicken to post anything and have been a lurker or is there a better word for that? But.....
I can't wait to go on this cruise!!!! It will be our 3rd cruise, but I'm a little nervous about this one as it will be myself and my 3 girls. (10, 8 and 3) We are all very excited, but I can't help thinking about all the what ifs, since my husband doesn't want to go. (he isn't a fan and will probably be on his motorcycle)
Just wanted to say hello to fellow cruisers, and wish you all a safe and happy trip!

He has always been a Disney Downer but he commented to me the other day that if we wouldn't go on the cruise next year that he would go to WDW with us, which was a shock! He has just absolutely hated to go, but I think he may be slowly turning away from the dark side! :cheer2:

I decided to do my online check in tonight since we leave this Sunday for our trip. When I was filling out my information I found out that since I was pregnant I would need a medical information form. Come to find out it needs to be signed by my doctor and faxed in 4 days ago. I am now hoping to get ahold of my doctor who is about 40 minutes away tomorrow to get this stupid thing signed. All I ever was told is that if you are past 24 weeks you can not board no where did I ever see if you were pregnant you had to have a doctors signature to prove how far along you are. I would have been so mad if I would have waited till I got to the port to check in and found this out.

Yep.
:) Basically any and all of the above. From what I've read, you can deliver anytime, one day or all days. We are giving one handmade gift, and that will include a card, sort of. Then we have some smaller gifts that will be dropped in from "Mickey" occasionally.
OH AND - 9 MORE DAYS! Single digits now.

Just wondering, want to make sure we are in the right place!

Take a look at deck 3. There's a lounge called the Promenade Lounge (thanks DCL for making it confusing). I believe that's where it was suggested we meet. It's by the aft elevators, in between Triton's and Parrot Cay. Here's a link (http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/deck3.htm)to the deck 3 layout.
My son is making some magnets for me and I'm having him make a DISGreen DIS tag with JohnPA on it. Should be easy to spot me if I can find a place to put it!

Do they make magnet paper for the printer or something?

AFT is the back of the ship.
Yep, they make magnet paper. My son is a graphic artist, but we sort of got our signals crossed. I called them magnets, so he figured they needed to be shrunk to 'fridge magnet' size. They're still nice though. Some of the magnets he printed on sticky paper and then applied to sheet magnets. They'd probably stay on a car going 80!
One week! Only ONE WEEK! We leave tomorrow to start our vacation at WDW.

Not a lot of sun today down here, but HOT! Great day to sit by the pool and drink Mai Tai's! MK yesterday for a quick bite and some ice cream. Neat to walk from BLT to MK. No buses to wait for! Can't wait for cruise, but don't want to rush it since it will mean that the first half of the vacation is over.
Hit the Outlets today for a pair of khaki's and a pair of shorts. Ended up with a bit more, but at 60% off, NO PROBLEM!
Look for me at the Promenade Lounge. I'll be the one looking lost!

Thanks to all for the awesome FE gifts! We did the frames, hope they come in good use and remind everyone of the magical time we all had!
The luggage straps are a great idea! I knew it was some sort of strap, now it all makes perfect sense! What a clever idea!
Also, please let Pam know, her needle work was Incredible on those scented pouches! I was very amazed!
Also, got a very beautiful, hand painted I do believe, candle with Tinker Bell on it!
The Hand Towel from J.T and Paul,,,just all these beautifully done hand made gifts,it was so cool to see what people can do! Sorry I'm posting this so late after returning...been crazy busy.
We would like to thank everyone for all of the wonderful gifts we received. The best was the friendships that we made.
Speaking of FE gifts....we've been told by a couple of people that they had issues with the cds. I don't understand it because we tested them...maybe it was a bad batch of cds or an issue with my drive. If you will PM me your address, I'll will make a new cd and ship it to you.
Here is a pic of all of the gifts we received. (You can click the photo and it will take you to a larger image.)
